My Chemical Romance Extend 2022 Reunion Tour
By Daniel Kreps
Daniel Kreps
UPDATE (3/9/22) : My Chemical Romance have added a 14 new shows to their long-awaited reunion tour , and released additional tickets to previously announced gigs. The group’s expanded itinerary — which is available below, new dates in bold — will find them hitting 10 new cities and adding more shows in Brooklyn, Toronto, Boston, and Los Angeles. Tickets for the new gigs will go on sale this Friday, March 11, at 12 p.m. local time via the My Chemical Romance website .
My Chemical Romance’s reunion tour — originally scheduled to begin September 2020 — has been pushed to 2022 as the impact of Covid-19 continues to linger in the U.S. and other nations around the world.

“We are deeply sad, but those emotions are only a fraction of the depth of feeling we have all experienced watching the suffering and loss of the past year,” My Chemical Romance said in a statement Friday. “We just want to be as sure as we can be that everyone is safe. Refunds will be offered to anyone who wants them. We are sorry if this is disappointing, and we really can’t wait to see you in 2022.”
In January 2020, prior to the coronavirus pandemic, My Chemical Romance announced their first U.S. tour in nine years with a September 2020 start date. However, five months later amid the pandemic, the band rescheduled those shows to begin September 2021. Those dates, following Friday’s postponement, are now scheduled for 2022.
Check out the MCR’s site for the new itinerary; all tickets will be honored for the new dates, while fans who can’t attend the rescheduled shows can request a refund by May 16th.
My Chemical Romance were also set to headline both the 2020 postponed and 2021 rescheduled Aftershock Festival as well as the 2021 Riot Fest , but the band’s gigs at those festivals have been canceled as part of Friday’s postponement. Both festivals are still scheduled to take place, with Aftershock tweeting Friday that a new headliner was “to be announced” and Riot Fest revealing that MCR’s headlining gig there will now occur in 2022.

My Chemical Romance at The Forum on October 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th & 17th

PHOTOS: My Chemical Romance – Los Angeles, CA – 10/12/2022
The year is 2022 and My Chemical Romance is back bigger and better than ever. Lead singer Gerard Way marched out on stage Tuesday night in a vintage cheer uniform with a flame thrower to open up the first of five sold out shows at the Forum in Los Angeles to close out their reunion tour.
The road here hasn’t been easy. Six years after breakup, the band announced a 2019 reunion show in Los Angeles. A one night only return turned into a 2020 reunion tour which turned into their 2022 reunion tour. Almost the entire U.S. arena run of shows have been sold out since they went on sale for 2020.
My Chemical Romance pulled out all of the stops for what Way called his “favorite room in the whole world”. Although the setlist spanned all of their albums and hits, each of the five shows will be focusing on a different era and album of the theirs. To start it off, night one had a large amount of favorites from their 2002 debut album “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love”. In front of a backdrop of decaying buildings, the group managed to perfectly balance the dark heavy sound they are well known for with the fun of a cheer uniform and songs like “Planetary (GO!)”. Notably, Way dedicated their hit “Teenagers” to Quentin Tarantino, and played “Demolition Lovers” for the first time since 2011. The night ended with an encore of some of the band’s earliest releases, “Skylines and Turnstiles” and “Demolition Lovers”
The band has pulled off not only a triumphant return for themselves, but also a major win for arena rock and emo music. After reclaiming their spot as one of the best alternative rock bands out there, the future is bulletproof for My Chemical Romance.

My Chemical Romance Reunion Proves a Communion for the Punk-Starved: Concert Review

Nearly a decade has passed since the disbandment of My Chemical Romance ( MCR ), the post-hardcore, pop-punk group led by frontman Gerard Way . And as a generation of Vans Warped Tour devotees grew up, so, too, did Gerard’s 13-year-old daughter, Bandit, who is now of age to appreciate her father’s music in all its angsty glory.
“For this next song, I never know who to dedicate it to, but tonight I definitely know,” Gerard announced to the audience, before briefly pausing for extra effect. “It’s my teenage daughter, Bandit, who is here tonight with all her friends. This one’s for you.”
Now 45, Gerard Way has maintained not just his vocal range and balls-to-the-wall energy, but also his baby face, which looks as if it’s barely aged in 20 years. Throttling the microphone, he had no problem hitting the range-stretching high notes of songs like “Famous Last Words” and, at the same time, radiating lower-register growls for the darker, drum-heavy material.
As is the Ways’ way — Gerard and bassist Mikey Way are brothers — anthems were aplenty. “Helena” from the band’s 2004 album created an audible rumble not unlike the planes landing at nearby LAX, as guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero breathed new life into a classic. And it took no more than a single note for MCR fans to instantly recognize the 2006 hit “Welcome to the Black Parade.” The one notable difference? Most of the songs were sung a half-step down from their original key signature. But to Gerard’s credit, the modification was not inherently obvious — and given that he started the band at 24 years old, his vocal range has undoubtedly shifted.
Theatrics were present but not overwhelming as the band more than met its responsibility to entertain — Mikey, Toro and Iero certainly deserve a lot of the credit, leaping across the stage and shredding, clearly enjoying the craft with zero jadedness.
After so much time away, MCR had a lot to live up to and it rose to the occasion over five nights at the Forum. But more than a “reunion” show, it was a “communion” — of like-minded Los Angeles devotees of all ages and stripes chanting “so long and goodnight,” but thinking, don’t take too long.

My Chemical Romance Add 2022 Tour Dates: Ticket Presale & On-Sale Info
by Francesco Marano
Published march 9, 2022.
It has been nearly eleven years since My Chemical Romance performed a full-scale tour. The band reunited for a performance in Los Angeles in December, 2019, which was their first show since 2012. Since then, they rolled out concert dates for Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The COVID pandemic put the concert industry on hold for the past couple of years, but now the pandemic is turning endemic and it has become much safer to have large gatherings.
This week, MCR added 2022 arena tour dates for North America. Scheduled in August, September, and October, the shows are expected to be with the band's original lineup of Gerard, Ray Toro, Mikey Way, and Frank Iero, along with touring drummer Jarrod Alexander. Also just announced, the band will be joined by multiple opening acts on select dates. You can find the exact lineup for each show at the ticket links below.

I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, I'm Not Okay (I Promise), Helena, The Ghost Of You, The Black Parade, Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na), so many albums and singles that have become mythical for a whole generation during the decade over which My Chemical Romance reigned.
However, the band announced its separation on 22 March 2013. It would take seven years for Gerard Way, Frank Iero, Ray Toro and Mikey Way to realise their fans' wildest dream: to reform. On December 20, 2019, the quartet will take the stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where the 6000 or so tickets sold out in a matter of minutes.
A triumphant return that leads MCR to announce a world tour, postponed due to the pandemic, but which will finally hit the road in 2022! Welcome back to the Black Parade...
