I think you should be aware of the limitations at your call center. when I called to get my medallions the person spoke English very poorly and was most difficult to understand. Two and on half hours to give my info to him. Today I received my medallions and my husband’s is correct and mine isn’t. Now I’m being told to correct this on the ship which means waiting in line for the change. Today is Friday and we are leaving very early next Thursday. Why can’t the new one be overnighted?

Customer service rep “Angel” could not resolve our issues and refused to connect us to a supervisor – was told after 45 min that a supervisor “Mikaela” would call back within an hour – Customer service does not appear to be a priority. – Princess may loose too clients today – even after multiple previous cruises.

Princess off-shore, third party call center are not able to resolve issues. Bring support in-house and employee reps who are well versed in English.

Emergency number while at sea

I have looked and looked on Princess website, but cannot find the emergency family contact number while we are at sea. I know in the pass there was a phone number.  We do have Verizon and the cruise ship Wi-Fi package. Family would be contacting us from the U.S.  Thanks for any help.

Tell them to email you and also call you on WHATSAPP.  If you don't have that App, I'd highly recommend downloading it and using it.  Free texting, free calling - even video calls if the MedallionNet is up to the task.

But Princess does have ship-to-shore numbers for each vessel.

I saw the numbers on the keeping-in-touch, but aren't those only if you are not the US or Canada? Doesn't look like enough numbers. Will also add the WHATSAPP.

Also look into WiFi calling to see if your carrier/phone supports it.  I *believe* this is something that needs to be configured at home before you leave...don't hold me to that, though.  It certainly doen't hurt anything just to *always* have it enabled as long as your phone supports it.

  For example, if you would like to call the Diamond Princess in the Pacific Ocean from the United States, dial 011 870 773 933 441.  

Also, if for some reason they could not reach you…they can always call 1 800 Princess and tell them the ship and cabin no and they will contact the ship or give your family the number to call.

HOWEVER…. The wait times to get through are a long.    

Whatsapp is a great suggestion from @Steelers36  your family member would need to download it also to communicate. 

Ship to Shore phone calls used to be incredibly expensive.  I was required to leave emergency contact information with my office back in the days before email.  They only called twice over the years.

I do not know present pricing.

If you are in North American waters and have a phone that is capable of wifi calling, they you can receive calls on your regular number (be sure it is in Airplane mode to avoid shockingly high charges.)  If you're outside of North America and have purchased the WiFi package, get one of the many web based calling apps (I like Google Voice because it also enables me to make international calls from both my regular cell number as well as Google Voice for pennies per minute.)  You can receive calls on your Google Voice number anywhere in the world as a domestic call from North America.
