Traveling alone is wonderful, but it can also be intimidating. Especially if your destination has a language or a culture completely different from your own.

And sometimes, making friends while traveling can be difficult and many worry about getting lonely. So, a good option for anyone who wants to begin adventuring around the world on their own is to use a tour excursion company that specializes in trips for young adults.

Of course, traveling is always about visiting a place and seeing new things, but one of the highlights is often meeting new people along the way. This is what is called social traveling .

5 Best Tour Companies for Young Solo/Single Travelers

Sextiki

Contiki is the most well-known tour company for young travelers worldwide. It’s been around since 1962, so its name carries quite a lot of weight.

But don’t worry if this sounds a bit intense for you…the options below are a bit more “calm.”

So, as you can imagine,  most of Contiki’s excursions involve lots of partying and going out with “pub crawl” kind of nights. And since there’s plenty of cool stories online of young travelers who traveled and would travel again with Contiki, it must be one of the best companies available if this is the type of travel you’re looking for.

Contiki has more than 328 distinct tours for many destinations across the 6 continents. According to their website, 55% of travelers who chose Contiki are single and are traveling alone, but the trips can also accommodate groups of friends and couples.

One thing to keep in mind is that the groups are usually quite big, around 30 people, and the main form of travel is the company’s coach bus.

Finally, their tours have a bit of everything: physical activities , exploration of local culture and food, and visits to ethical and sustainable organizations and projects in your destination. In other words, you are capable of a journey full of different attractions, sounds, and experiences!

Topdeck is a company that offers“epic trips and tours for young adventurers aged 18-39.”With 40 years of experience, alongside Contiki, Topdeck is one of the most well-known companies in terms of group travel for young solo/single travelers.

Their trips are divided into several categories:

  • Hotel tours: designed for couples or singles who want to travel a bit more comfortably through Europe, the U.S., Canada, or Asia. All hotels have, at least, 3 stars and the excursions give you a lot of free time to relax or explore on your own.
  • Explorer trips: these are shorter trips, between 6 days and 3 weeks, with just one country for those who want to explore local culture more deeply. The groups are small and accommodation is in shared or private hotel rooms.
  • Hostel plus trip:  low-cost tours with accommodation in hostels , cabins, or vans and with itineraries with multiple destinations/countries.
  • Camping trips: these trips are the cheapest way to travel through Europe with Topdeck. The accommodation is camping with private chefs cooking meals daily. The bunks are for two people and include mattresses.
  • Sailing trips: these trips are an awesome option for anyone who dreams of sailing the world but doesn’t have an idea of where to start. Accommodation is within a sailboat in double, triple, or quadruple rooms with meals included.
  • Festivals and events: these tours are specifically for events like Oktoberfest or the Sziget festival (in Hungary) and other festivals in the United States, Canada, and Europe .
  • Ski trips: these trips are perfect for anyone who loves snow and skiing . With destinations in Canada, New Zealand, Bulgaria, and Japan . Accommodation is in private or shared hotel rooms.
  • Gap year: this trip is made for young travelers 17-18 who want to travel in Europe after graduating high school. It’s a great idea for anyone who wants to travel on their own without freaking their parents out. Accommodation is in hostels and the destinations usually include 8-10 countries.

Created in 1990, G Adventures was born with the idea of offering authentic adventures responsibly and sustainably. Their excursions have reasonable prices and cover all the continents, including Antarctica!

The groups are small and the itineraries are designed so you have time to explore on your own. The trips are themed and have different options for all ages, including a category for young travelers aged 18-39.

The trips in this category are faster-paced and designed for young travelers. In other words, you explore during the day and stay up at night. Their motto for these excursions is “live fast now.” So, their trips are usually longer than the others and offer more activities.

Plus, this category of travel groups is a bit more affordable with accommodation in hostels and a few meals included to guarantee a cheaper price. You can read more about these trips here .

Or, just click in the link above, go to G Adventures main page, click “Travel Styles” and select “18-to-Thirtysomethings!”

It’s worth remembering that these trips follow the basic principles of G Adventures: small groups and free time. Plus, the trips are done in a responsible and sustainable way, prioritizing small businesses and the welfare of animals, children, and indigenous communities.

And finally, like Intrepid, G Adventures is a partner of Planeterra, an NGO dedicated to ensuring that communities touched by tourism benefit from it, rather than be exploited by it. The organization helps to empower local populations, preserve their cultures, and create support systems by managing 50 organizations across the 7 continents with the aim of benefiting women, at-risk youth, and indigenous and rural communities. You can read more about Planeterra here .

Intrepid is considered by many to be one of the best options for those who want to travel as part of an excursion with small, adventure-focused groups .

All trips offered by Intrepid are sustainable, and because of this Intrepid is known and respected as the global leader in sustainable travel.

The company has zeroed its carbon footprint and supports the Intrepid Foundation, a foundation that finances the planting of trees worldwide creates jobs and local education, and helps the world achieve 8 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. You can read more about the foundation at https://www.theintrepidfoundation.org/.

Intrepid has many types of trips for all budgets and personalities. That said, the company prides itself in organizing small groups of up to 10 people. This is because Intrepid believes that this is the maximum number of people that still allows a true connection with locals without you simply feeling like just a face in the group. The trips are also always designed to give you some time to explore on your own.

The trips made for young travelers aged 18-29 (called their “18 to 29s” trips) are designed specifically for the new generation of socially-conscious explorers. In other words, they were created for travelers who want to discover new places and cultures, make new friends , and also make a difference in the world.

There are many destinations and the cost of the trips are relatively low given that they are designed for young travelers. You can see all of Intrepid’s tour options here .

Unlike the other companies mentioned above, Trek American only offers excursions for North and Central America. And in general their tours are quite small, just 13 people, with the exception of their “plus” tours of up to 30 people.

Trek America is also quite well-known and has been running since 1972. Like Contiki, the tours are exclusively for young travelers aged 18-38 and include itineraries of 3 days to 3 months.

The reputation of Trek America is that they offer experiences which change your life with a balance between visiting big cities, national parks, and other activities that explore the most incredible places in North and Central America.

And, unlike Contiki, Trek America trips don’t include the “pub crawl” culture. So if you are a young traveler who is more interested in exploring and making new experiences instead of partying, Trek America might be good for you.

They have 3 types of tours:

  • Original tours: small group tours with the aim of having an authentic “ road trip ,” with cheap accommodation that includes hostels, camping, and budget hotels. The groups have 10-13 people, which gives you a bit more flexibility in the itinerary.
  • Plus tours: offered just to explore North America, these tours offer more comfort, primarily when it comes to accommodation, and you’ll stay in hotels, eco resorts, and apartments. Plus, breakfast is included as is more activities than the original tours. The only “con” is that the groups are usually bigger (up to 30 people).
  • BOLT tours: offered exclusively for Central America with a combination of private transportation and local transportation. The groups are 12-18 people with accommodation in hotels and with a bit more flexibility, meaning the most famous tourist spots will be included, but you’ll still have lots of free time to explore on your own.

Shane says "As a child, I was raised under the philosophy that the best way to learn about the world is to genuinely experience it for yourself. As such, I've had the fortune of being able to travel frequently and create those incredible defining moments in dozens of countries across four continents.

From racing down the Autobahn in Germany and swimming with sharks in Polynesia, to hiking with elephants in the jungles of Thailand and teaching ESL in Japan, I can't say I've seen it all, but I've certainly seen a lot. I also speak conversational Japanese and basic German, which has helped aid in both my travels and connections."

The WanderRock Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to follow our main ethos: Putting more life in our travelers lives. We believe that travel is one of the best ways to gain real world skills that will last a lifetime.

Those skills include...

Executive Functioning Skills

Travelers will learn & gain confidence in the practical application of logistical skills that they can take into every day life. These skills aren't something that can be taught in a classroom or by reading, so we emphasize practical experience whenever possible.

For example, travelers might have to research dinner options, negotiate with peers, check to see if the restaurant fits within their budget for the week, and plan how to get there on public transportation.

Perspective & Wisdom Building

One of the great things about travel is that by experiencing different cultures, it gives our travelers a new sense of perspective & a greater wisdom as they go about their daily life. Our program uses deep cultural immersion & the physical environment to give our travelers a greater understanding of themselves, their worldview and the people around them.

Building Empathy & Creating Tolerance

Re-Aligning Personal Stories

Becoming More Flexible

Family in Zimbabwe

Self Care & Emotional Regulation

Being out on the road teaches our travelers a lot about their basic needs, and our program highlights those needs and helps our travelers make good decisions about eating, relaxation, sleep, hydration & more, based on their own felt sense of checking in with themselves.

Emotional Capacity & Vagal Tone

Deep Relaxation

Bodily Needs

Social & Community Engagement

Our travelers will have many, many opportunities to connect with their peers and the people of the various communities we visit, which will allow them to practice social skills & community engagement in a safe, welcoming way.

Is A WanderRock Trip Right For Me?

If you've always dreamed of seeing the world, but never had the opportunity until now, you've come to the right place! WanderRock is designed to get you out of your room and into the big, wide world.

On a WanderRock trip, you'll do things you never thought you could, make deep, lasting relationships and experience the cultural wealth of the world in a deeply immersive way that will put a lot more life in your life.

So if you are the type of person who wants to see new sights, visit new places, try new things and experience new cultures but might need a bit of help & support along the way, then you are a perfect fit for a WanderRock trip.

Our trips aren't designed to put you in luxury hotels and have you gaze upon large buildings and monuments from an air conditioned bus. Whenever possible, we experience the local culture as the locals do.

With a deep focus on new experiences, and an equally deep focus on deep restorative self care, you'll not only have the opportunity to do things you never thought you'd have the chance to do, but you'll gain the skills to not be overwhelmed while doing it.

To join us on a WanderRock trip you must be:

  • Willing & excited to travel.
  • Able to fully self-manage any medications you need to take.
  • Able to follow navigation directions when given (such as "Meet downstairs at 5 PM" not "Walk across this town you've never been to").
  • Flexible & able to adjust to last minute itinerary changes (travel can be unpredictable at times).
  • In the "Young Adult" age bracket. (20's and early 30's. As our trips fill we make sure that all travelers have at least 1 person within a few years of them. Spring and summer tend to skew younger. Fall & winter tend to skew older.)
  • Not in need of ongoing therapeutic mental health services (We aren't therapists or doctors).
  • Able to walk continuously for 40 minutes without stopping to rest or sitting down.
  • Willing to try new foods (There will be a wide variety of food options available in most locations, but occasionally there might be a very limited menu offered. Check your trip itinerary for details.)
For as long as humans have been alive, travel has been a way to clear your head, reset your thoughts and shift into a new version of who you are. There's a different way of seeing the world that only develops through... well, seeing the world. Once you've had to deal with living & sleeping in a foreign place for multiple weeks, it makes it a lot easier to deal with daily life back home. Danny Raede Co-Founder & Head of Trip Development

What Are Some Things To Keep In Mind On Your Trips?

Our trips are intentionally different than most other travel adventures out there.

At the end of the day, it's important to recognize that travel comes with some inherent unknowns & uncomfortable moments, so we want to make sure you'll not only have a great time on our trips, but that you'll be able to eat the food thats offered, participate in the activities that the group does, and overall have a positive experience.

Here's what that entails...

Long Flights & Train Rides

Our trips can involve lengthy travel. That means that you might experience a 7+ hour plane journey, or an all day train or bus ride. In other words, you'll need to be ok with long journeys. But don't worry! There will be plenty to do on board, and you'll be well taken care of. Our expert guides will make sure you are well equipped to handle the rigors of long journeys.

On an Airplane

Less Privacy Than You May Be Used To

On our trips you will most likely be sharing a room with someone else. In some of our accommodations, there are shared bathrooms and most of these bathrooms have individual shower stalls for your privacy. However, we stay in local accommodations whenever possible, and depending on the country and its customs, their bathing practices and facilities may differ substantially from what you are used to. See your trip itinerary for details.

A room in a Ryokan

When traveling you can't always eat exactly what you'd like to. Sure in any modern big city (Munich, Tokyo, etc) you can basically find any type of food you'd like, but in some of the smaller cities that we may be staying in there may not be the exact type of food you'd like to eat, and you may need to try something new.

We'll do our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions or preferences you have, but can't guarantee anything. That being said, we've found some delicious tacos in weird places like Fes, Morocco, so you'd be surprised what you can find when you are really hungry for it!

Your trip itinerary can provide more details.

An example of foreign food

Lots Of Walking & Exercise

Our trips involve lots of walking. There are days where we will be walking 5, sometimes 10 miles throughout the day. You should be in good enough health to handle waking consistently for 40 minutes without stopping or sitting down. Note that occasionally you may be carrying your backpack (weighing up to 20 pounds) while walking. Depending on the itinerary, we'll also have some optional experiences that allow you to exercise in a more rigorous fashion (such as rock climbing or hiking).

If you aren't an active person already that's ok! All you need is a willingness to try and a recognition that the more you participate, the easier it is. That being said, people who are extremely out of shape or overweight may have a harder time on our trips.

Shibuya Crossing

Different Sleeping Arrangements

Depending on our itinerary and the local customs of the area, the mattresses you sleep on may be very hard or very soft, so you should be free from major back problems that may be aggravated by different mattress firmnesses. It's also important to note that you may be in bunk beds, so you should be able to climb up and down ladders easily.

Beds at a Hostel

Light Packing Requirement

We don't allow checked bags on our trips, so you'll need to pack light and for carry-on only. That means a backpack! We'll provide full guidance and advice on how to do this properly, but if you are someone who needs to bring a lot with them on a trip, this may not be the trip for you. You'll be surprised how much you can do without!

Boarding The Bullet Train

"Unbelievable. I use that word a lot because that describes most of the trip to Europe. It was just unbelievable. My family goes on vacation about once or twice a year, and I've been suggesting Europe up for as long as I can remember, and we've never gone. I never really was confident that I'd be Self-sufficient enough to make it over on my own. And now having gone, it's it was just as amazing as I'd always imagined."

Girl dancing at the Taj Mahal

Bucket list itineraries

Sure, you can travel to India to see the Taj Mahal, but we like to share a laugh with a local chai wallah in the market while we’re at it. Our trips include loads of big-ticket attractions as well as plenty of unique and unexpected experiences you can only have with a local guide.

Leader talking to two travellers in Egypt

Legendary leaders

The best folks to show you around are the ones who live there. Our local leaders know these destinations like an old friend, so get ready to eat at the best street food joints, get to know the culture in depth and experience things you wouldn’t be able to on your own.

Traveller in Iceland sitting in a National Park

Creating positive change

We're on a mission to create positive change through the joy of travel. That’s why all our trips are carbon offset, and we give back to the communities we visit with the help of The Intrepid Foundation. When you travel with us, you travel with purpose.

Felucca full of travellers

Small groups

With an average group size of 10 people, our groups are big enough to create a good vibe but small enough to blend in with the locals. Whether you’re travelling solo or with mates, you’ll really get to know your group and will never be stuck for someone to grab a drink with.

Group of travellers cheers drinks in Budapest

Great value

Want big-time experiences without the big-time price tag? Our 18 to 35s travel style means staying in simple, well-located accommodation, taking local transport and enjoying tasty local food. This way, you choose where your spending money goes.

Getting ready to zipline in Cambodia with full safety gear

We’re committed to ensuring our trips are safe for everyone, including our travellers, our leaders, our crew and the people we visit along the way. That’s why we’re always up to date with world events and changes. Rest easy – you’ll be well taken care of.

Highlights of our 18 to 35s trips

A group of travellers on a rowing boat along the Mekong in Vietnam

Venture through Vietnam

From the old-world streets of Hanoi to bustling Ho Chi Minh City – and all the temples, motorbikes and banh mi in between – adventures await in Vietnam. On this epic adventure from north to south, we’ll get you chomping and slurping pho-nomenal food, kayaking around Cat Ba island (away from the tourists), cycling through rice paddies and crossing the hectic Vietnamese roads like a local in no time.

A traveller standing at the base of Chichen Itza in Mexico

Munch your way through Mexico

Discover the real Mexico on an overland adventure, from the sprawling metropolis of Mexico City to the white sand beaches and underground caverns of Playa del Carmen. Discover the heart of Europe

Ticking off European favourites including Berlin, Krakow, Prague and Budapest – this is the Central Europe trip you’ve dreamed about. Enjoy dinners in busy medieval squares, explore stunning hilltop castles and sleep in ridiculously Instagrammable towns that look like they belong in a fairy tale.

18 to 35s trip reviews

Is every trip guaranteed to run.

Our trips are guaranteed to depart once they have one fully paid customer, unless the minimum group size listed in the Essential Trip Information and/or Special Conditions state otherwise.

Do you cater for food allergies/dietary requirements?

We’ll try our very hardest to accommodate all dietary requirements, but it can be difficult to guarantee in some out-of-the-way places. We'll let you know if there are places on your itinerary where this is the case. Please let us know your dietary requirements at the time of booking and we’ll pass the information on to your leader.

What’s the standard of accommodation on an 18 to 35s trip?

You’ll be staying in simple, well-located accommodation with shared amenities, though it's common for rooms to be ensuite. Rooming is organised on a twin-share basis. We pair up solo travellers with another traveller of the same gender as per the gender marker on each of their passports.

If your gender identity differs from what is indicated on your passport, please contact us so that we can discuss rooming options with you. If you'd like your own space, most of our trips also have the option to pay a fee for an individual room.

Will the accommodation have Wi-Fi?

Most hotels, cafes and bars have Wi-Fi, especially in big cities and towns. In remote places (like the Sahara and the Amazon Rainforest) or on treks or homestays, you won’t be able to access Wi-Fi or mobile data as easily. Your leader will give you a heads-up beforehand so you can call home or send a quick WhatsApp.

Your leader can also help you buy a local SIM card if you'd like to stay connected.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

You sure do. Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips if you’re travelling internationally. Your leader will take down your insurance details on the first day in case they are needed during the trip, so make sure to bring your policy documents.

Learn more about travel insurance .

Do I need any travel vaccinations?

Vaccination requirements differ depending on the destination, and as we’re not medical practitioners, unfortunately we can't advise on this issue. Please see your local GP or travel doctor for details and advice about current vaccination requirements.

Learn more about entry and health requirements for the destination(s) you’ll be visiting .

Do I need a COVID-19 vaccine to join an 18 to 35s trip?

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).

However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

Meet our local leaders

Intrepid leader, Nhi Pham

"When you travel with me we'll be hanging out with the locals, tucking into the best street food and trying to master Vietnamese pronunciation (FYI, it's hard!). Whatever we do, we'll laugh a lot and make amazing memories together. Pack your best smile and count on me for the rest – I'll be your local buddy."

- Nhi Pham, Vietnam

Intrepid leader, Paul Garrido

“It will be a pleasure to share our traditions and beliefs, take you to the most amazing sites and, most importantly, interact with the locals! Get ready for a behind-the-scenes tour where we’ll visit hole-in-the-wall restaurants and find the best picarones (Andean doughnuts) *chef’s kiss. I’ll be waiting for you here, in my beloved Peru.

- Paul Garrido, Peru

Intrepid leader, Huyen Nguyen

"You might come to Vietnam for the beautiful scenery, but you'll stay for the friendly people! I love introducing travellers to locals and having a chit-chat, going on spontaneous walks to explore the hidden spots and sharing stories to keep our beautiful culture alive."

- Huyen Nguyen, Vietnam

Travel for good

We strive to use travel as a force for good. That's why every Intrepid trip is aligned with a relevant partner through The Intrepid Foundation and a donation is given for every trip booked. You can see which partner is aligned with a trip in the Essential Trip Information under ‘The Intrepid Foundation’.

Learn more about The Intrepid Foundation

We've got trips to suit every adventurer – no matter your budget, interests or travel style. If you can't travel on an 18 to 35s trip, you can always book a seat on one of our other trips, which are open to all ages!

Trip Overview

Welcome to greece.

Arrive at Athens International Airport and take included transportation to our hotel located in the heart of Athens.

After settling in, take a walk around the heart of the ancient Greek capital. Discover history around every corner and marvel at structures that are thousands of years old.

Join your new friends for our first dinner together at a traditional Greek tavern. Enjoy a classic Greek salad, fresh seafood, or some delicious stuffed tomatoes before resting at your hotel overlooking the Acropolis.

Athens Immersion

Join fellow travelers and your Under30Experiences Trip Leader for your first breakfast in the historic city of Athens.

Take a guided walking tour through the Acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Adrian’s gate, and the Panathinaikos Stadium.

Experience the greatness of the Acropolis firsthand while learning about the ancient Greeks from a local guide.

Enjoy some free time to visit the Acropolis Museum, explore the historic Plaka neighborhood, and roam through Athens’ historic streets before a savory Greek dinner.

Welcome to the Greek Islands!

Take the ferry to our first stop on this Greek island adventure: the marvelous island of Paros.

Upon arrival, visit some of the best beaches the Greek Islands have to offer. Talk a walk along the coastline or lounge on the golden sand beaches and soak in the good vibes.

Catch the sunset from the picture-perfect village of Naoussa and explore the hidden alleyways and whitewashed streets with your Trip Leader. You’ll have dinner at a traditional Greek seafood restaurant.

Boat Tour & Greek Cooking Class

Explore the waters and unspoiled places of the Aegean Sea onboard a private boat!

Discover hidden caves, go snorkeling, and enjoy plenty of opportunities to swim in beautiful turquoise waters.

For dinner, enjoy a Greek cooking class with a local chef. Learn traditional cooking methods and recipes from the island while we prepare our meal as a group.

Experience Naxos

This morning, we’ll head to the port village of Parikia to explore the town before taking the ferry to neighboring Naxos.

Upon arrival to our second Greek island, we’ll head to one of the best beaches in Naxos. You can try windsurfing, kitesurfing, or simply opt to soak in the beautiful views.

After our beach day, we’ll head to the iconic Temple of Apollo to experience a stunning Greek island sunset.

Later, you’ll have time to wander through the old town or have your Trip Leader guide you through the cobblestone streets.

Hiking & Cultural Day in Naxos

Today enjoy a hike through Naxos Island’s famous mountain towns. Starting from the larger than life Kouros Statues, our hike will take us to the picturesque mountain village of Ano Potamia, Apano Kastro, and end in the charming little village of Halki.

Go back in time as you explore the village’s colorful alleys, Byzantine architecture, and local shops.

Don’t forget to visit the local distillery and try the island’s famous liquor called Kitron.

Santorini Sunset Kayaking

After breakfast, enjoy a stroll through the picturesque port of Naxos.

Travel by boat to our next enchanting island of the Cyclades, Santorini, known for its impressive architecture, breathtaking views, and vibrant culture.

In the evening we’ll travel to the south end of the island to enjoy a special kayaking experience that will allow us to visit Santorini’s red, white, and black beaches.

"I just got back from 9 amazing days in Spain. This was my first trip with under30 and the trip far exceeded my expectations. I write this teary-eyed with gratitude. Rebecca and Eric, our group leaders, were awesome. They were fun and playful yet responsible, knowledgeable, patient, supportive and kind. I felt like I was in good hands at all times—in fact we all started calling them mom and dad by the end of the trip! I couldn't have asked for a better group to see the world with :)" -Jennifer B.

"Huge fan of Under30Experiences! I've always traveled with friends and family in the past, so this was the first time I've done the small group travel thing on my own before. Couldn't have been happier with my experience. The group size was perfect -- small enough that you had a chance to chat with everyone, but big enough to get a really interesting, fun group of people from completely different backgrounds. If you want to travel ASAP, no need to impatiently wait for your friends/family to become available...Under30Experiences is a really great option!" -Rachel L.

"I honestly cannot say enough about my experience to Ireland with this group! Currently sitting in the airport on my way home and can’t stop thinking about how perfect it was. Somehow they put 11 completely different people on a trip and made us feel like a family. Eric was my team leader and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better! They have amazing relationships with the local businesses and restaurants and you can tell they trjoy care about the countries they visit. I can’t wait for my next trip" -Darbi F.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our small group trip to Scandinavia caters to travelers in their 20s and 30s looking to explore the modern marvels of Oslo, the charming old streets of Stockholm, and the idyllic harbor of Copenhagen.

Scandinavia is a community-centric region and one of the best places to travel with a group of new friends. Over eight days, you’ll crisscross the beautiful and progressive capitals of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark as you’re introduced to the Scandinavian way of life. You’ll find similarities among the three nations yet also fall for their nuances and appreciate their subtle differences.

This trip moves at a quicker pace than some of our others since we visit three cities in three different nations. Expect eight days of discovery that will broaden your mind and leave you planning your return.

Day 1 - Oslo Arrive

After you land in Oslo, head to our hotel in the center of town to drop off your bags and unwind. Congrats, you made it to Scandinavia!

That evening, we’ll roll to a nearby rooftop bar for welcome drinks with the crew. Take in the view; this is one of Europe’s most unique capitals—a place where modern glass towers come face to face with a thousand years of history.

After unwinding with new friends, we’ll mosey on over to our welcome dinner, and you’ll dive right into your first Norwegian eats.

Enjoy floating saunas in Oslo.

Day 2 - Oslo Nordic Delights

Wake up and grab some grub at the hotel before we head out for a day of Oslo exploration. Today, we’re checking out the old, the new, and the delicious as we meet up with a local guide and trek off on a tour of the town that’s just as tasty as it is informative.

You’ll sample some of the most delectable Nordic dishes as you learn the ins and outs of a city chock full of trendy cafes and exciting restaurants. Along the way, you’ll find more than a few modern marvels (hello opera house!) and discover why this is consistently ranked one of the most livable cities in the whole world.

In the afternoon, we’ll head to the harbor for one outrageously steamy good time aboard a floating sauna, and then you can hit the town and cruise to the coolest bars around with new friends.

The food in Scandinavia is diverse.

Day 3 - Oslo, Stockholm Sights of sweden

Get an early start this morning, we’re rolling out along one of our favorite romantic routes as we board the train from Oslo to Stockholm, so grab a coffee and soak up those oh-so-picturesque sights.

We’ll get into the Swedish capital by mid-afternoon and make our way over to the hotel. Relax if you’d like, or hit the streets and check out the colorful cobbled streets of the charming old town for some historical fun.

That evening, we’ll all get together to twist up some Scandinavian specialties at our own private cocktail-making class. Then grab dinner with friends and check out Stockholm’s vibrant nightlife.

Stockholm's old streets are great for walking around with friends.

Day 4 - Stockholm city of islands

We've got a big day ahead of us, so toss on those walking shoes; we're starting our day on the cobbled streets of Gamla Stan.

These medieval nooks and crannies are as cute as they come in Europe and are filled with history—some date to the 13th century. We'll grab a mid-morning Fika (Swedish coffee and snacks) with friends and then cruise over to one of Europe's best museums to check out the world's only intact 17th-century gunship.

Kick back and relax in the afternoon or keep on exploring before we all meet up for a fantastic group dinner.

The restaurants in Sweden are great.

Day 5 - Stockholm Waterfront Chillin’

The morning is free, but we recommend having breakfast like a local along the harbor and then strolling the waterfront to check out the view.

Meet up with the rest of the crew in the middle of the day; we’re heading out on a cruise to get a whole new perspective on the 14 islands that make up this friendly capital.

We’ll grab lunch together, and then the day is yours. If you’re up for it, grab a scooter and ride over to the ever so hip Södermalm to wander the streets of Stockholm’s answer to Brooklyn. Try to find dinner at one of the neighborhood’s chic spots before you hit the bars one last time in Sweden.

The islands of Sweden.

Day 6 - Stockholm, Copenhagen Down to denmark

We've got one more scenic Scandinavian ride in store for you today; we're hopping the train to Copenhagen. We'll get to our hotel in the afternoon, and then it's off for a sip of suds to welcome us to town.

We're checking out one of the best breweries this colorful capital has to offer before dinner, so grab a few pints if you like. From there, we're heading to Tivoli Gardens, the oldest operating amusement park in the world and supposedly Walt Disney's inspiration for Disneyland.

After some roller coaster madness, grab a bite with the crew and then see where the night takes you.

Ride bikes through old Scandinavia streets.

Day 7 - Copenhagen Bike like a dane

Wake up early for a full day of exploring on two wheels with a Danish guide to check out the city like only a local would.

On our tour of these neoclassical streets, you’ll learn about the remarkable history of the nation and this city which grew from humble beginnings as a traditional Viking village in the 12th century.

After poking around in the past and an introduction to the social progress of the present, head out and explore with friends on your own. The city’s harbor, parks, and palaces are easy to get around and a blast to explore. That night, we’ll all grab drinks and one final dinner together to celebrate an awesome week.

The Scandinavia trip is great for nightlife.

Day 8 - Copenhagen Farvel!

And just like that you twisted through Scandinavia and three of the most iconic cities in Europe. Grab a final breakfast with friends before you head off.

If you’ve got some more time , well then we’re jealous. Keep on trekking and discovering all this special place has to offer. We’ll see you next time!

"The road to a friend's house is never long." – Danish proverb

Stockholm is historic and beautiful.

Though they are amazing, Scandinavian countries are known for being quite expensive. Average prices are much higher than most US cities. For example, in Oslo, a 5 mile taxi ride is around $20 and an average cocktail price at trendy bar is $16.

On European trips, we stay as close to historic city centers as possible. This means your accommodations will often be on the small side, quirky, and unique (we love this!).

Credit/debit cards are widely accepted in Scandinavia - in fact, some establishments will not accept cash and travelers can often get away with exclusively using a card in these countries. Just make sure that your card does not charge any foreign transaction fees as these can really add up!
