Tagore Hill

Betla national park is an old Reserve forest in India. 260 square km national park. located on the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the Latehar and Palamu district of Jharkhand, India.

Sal and bamboo are the major components along with a number of medicinal plants. Mahua is also a famous and economical tree.

T he park has a variety of diverse ecosystems and an abundance of wild animals. Elephants in large numbers are seen. Predators - sloth bear and panther, wolf, jackal, and hyena.  gaur and chital, large families of langurs, rhesus monkeys, Indian giant squirrels, mouse deer, sambar deer, four-horned antelopes, nilgai, Kakar, small Indian civets, ant-eating pangolin, porcupine, and mongoose. 

Birds - hornbill, peafowl, red jungle fowl, black partridge, white-necked stork, black ibis, swamp grey, quail, pied hornbill, wagtail, harial, dove, drongo, crested serpent eagle, forest owlet, papeeha, and other birds usually found in dry deciduous forests.

The park nearby is situated waterfalls and hot springs. There are also two historical forts known as Palamu Forts, one of them situated near the Betla 10 minute distance by cab. It was built in the 16th century as the seat of the Chero Kings.

Day 02 - Netarhat to Betla (93 km).

Cm to open first ‘craft handloom tourism village’.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will dedicate the country's first “Craft Handloom Tourism Village” at Pranpur in Ashoknagar on March 6 at 3 pm. Union Civil Aviation and Steel Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Union Minister of State for Railways Darshana Jardosh and Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, Religious Trusts and Endowments (Independent Charge) Dharmendra Singh Lodhi and other public representatives will be present in the inauguration ceremony.

Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture and Managing Director Tourism Board Sheo Shekhar Shukla has said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the Tourism Department is enhancing the quality of handicraft products, making the products market-oriented, skill development of artisans, training in advanced technology, modern distribution and marketing support of products is being provided. On the initiative of MP Tourism Board, “Craft Handloom Tourism Village” has been developed by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and MP Government at a cost of Rs. 7 crore 45 lakh in Pranpur-Chanderi, Ashok Nagar.
