Dew Tour in Dew Moines

How to watch in person .

This event is completely FREE, and NO tickets are required! Just show up and soak up the atmosphere. This is a change from last year’s event, which was a ticketed event to control attendance. The festivities start at Lauridsen Skatepark on Friday from 3 – 10 p.m. and Saturday 2 – 10 p.m. This year’s event is a finals-only style, meaning athletes were selected by invite only. Cheer the athletes on in both park and street style competitions. Pro tip: viewing takes place on the lawn overlooking the skatepark, and while lawn chairs are not allowed, you can bring picnic blankets for viewing. The full event schedule is here .

Where to park 

Parking is located in the Iowa Events Center parking lot between 3rd Street and 5th Avenue, just north of the convention center. Parking is $10 per car. ADA and spectator drop off/pick up can occur off of 3rd Street at either Park or Center Street and the entrance is located off 2nd Avenue and Crocker Street. Skatepark Info 

Lauridsen Skatepark is located in the heart of downtown Des Moines on five acres at the northern edge of the Principal Riverwalk and just east of Wells Fargo Arena and Iowa Events Center. Designed by renowned skateboarders Lance Mountain and Colby Carter of California Skateparks, Lauridsen Skatepark is an attractive extension of the city’s beautiful Principal Riverwalk. The Lauridsen Park course design is consistent with professional-level park course venues, such as those on the Vans Park Series world tour and is capable of hosting amateur through world-class professional events. It’s also the largest skatepark in the country!

Dew Tour Experience 

New this year, Dew Tour Experience is for all the fans attending. Open throughout the weekend, this will have tons of fan-based activities. A sponsor village with booths to explore, food trucks, pro athlete photo opportunities, poster signings, and so much more. It’s sure to bring Dew Tour to a whole new level. Battle of the Shops

Another new aspect to Dew Tour Des Moines is the Battle of the Shops. This is a way to recognize local Midwest skate shops, as well as add a little competition. The shops competing are Subsect in Des Moines, Escapist in Kansas City, Familia in Minneapolis, Eduskate in Cedar Rapids, and Infinity in St. Louis. Two amateur skaters from each shop will compete for cash prizes and all the glory! See this on Saturday from 4:40 - 6 p.m. at the street course.

Who to Watch 

With athletes of all ages competing, the Dew Tour is sure to entertain. We’ve rounded up a few athletes to keep your eyes out for. Check out the full list of skaters here .    Sky Brown: Sky is a 14 year old with dual citizenship in Japan and Great Britain. She has been skating and surfing since the age of two and will be one of the youngest competitors of the tour. Not only is she an extremely competitive surfer, but she also was the first winner of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors. Yuto Horigome: During the inaugural skateboarding event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Yuto took gold in the Street event, making him the first person to ever win a gold medal for skateboarding at the Olympics. As someone still young, he has already gotten the attention of April skateboards, Nike SB, and more. Gavin Bottger: Sure to be one of the youngest competitors at Dew Tour this year, Gavin made a name for himself in Des Moines last year. He proved his ability when he took 3rd place last year and is going to be in the running for the top of the podium this year.

Dew Tour Officially Announces Summer 2022 Skateboarding Dates and Returns to Des Moines, Iowa

Returning to the nation’s largest skatepark, Lauridsen Skatepark is set to host some of the world’s best skateboarders this July 29 and 30, 2022. The two-day pro skateboard competition and festival will be a finals-only event for men’s and women’s skateboarding street and park, including adaptive athletes.

Carlsbad, Calif.  (April 25, 2022)  — The annual  Dew Tour  pro skateboard competition and festival – powered by MTN DEW® – will return to Des Moines, Iowa on July 29 and 30 at  Lauridsen Skatepark  for the second consecutive year. The event will be a finals only skateboard competition featuring the very best skaters from across the globe, as well as a two-day festival with activities for all ages. The return of Dew Tour to Des Moines is made possible by its partnership with Catch Des Moines and Polk County, as well as Toyota, returning as the event’s Mobility partner. Dew Tour will be free and open to the public.

In 2020 and 2021, Dew Tour served as a global Olympic qualifying event for the Tokyo Games, which showcased its inaugural year of skateboarding. This year’s Dew Tour features finals only competitions in men’s and women’s individual Street and Park, as well as Adaptive competitions presented by Toyota in men’s and women’s Street and men’s Park. It will also mark the return of the Dew Tour’s Battle of the Shops, featuring regional skate shops that compete as a team against one another on the Street course. Des Moines’ Subsect Skate Shop will be the local shop competing against other midwestern skate shops from Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis and Minneapolis.

A myriad of Olympians are expected to compete at this year’s event, including Lizzie Armanto (FIN), Mariah Duran (USA), Aurelien Giraud (FRA), Nyjah Huston (USA), Aori Nishimura (JPN), Tristan Rennie (USA), Pamela Rosa (BRA), Bryce Wettstein (USA) and many more. 

The Dew Tour Experience, a festival-style activation located adjacent to the competition venue, will offer fans a fun and free sponsor village, food and beverages, pro athlete meet and greets and more. The entire Dew Tour event is free and open to the public, with general admission entry. A limited number of VIP ticket packages will be available; details are forthcoming.

The Dew Tour competition venue will be located within Lauridsen Skatepark, the largest skatepark in the United States, boasting 88,000 square feet of skateboarding paradise with two skate bowls, a skate promenade, a skateable sculpture, stairs, ledges and more. The skatepark, which opened in 2021, was built by world-class builders California Skateparks, who has served as the venue architects for Dew Tour since 2014.

Welcome to the largest skatepark in the nation.

Opened on May 7, 2021, and host to the 2021 Dew Tour [May 10 – 27] , the Lauridsen Skatepark the largest open park in the nation. The skatepark is centrally located at the north end of the Principal Riverwalk next to the Des Moines River. The 88,000 square feet attraction will showcase Olympic caliber park and street courses. Thrilling features include a promenade, flow bowl, amoeba pool, snake run, and a skateable art piece entitled WOW.  The entire skatepark was heavily influenced by the existing topography of the land and the water table.
