Slaughter are a hair metal outfit from Las Vegas, Nevada, US, who found huge success with their 1990 album, “Stick It To Ya,” riding the crest of the wave of popularity of the genre before the 90s made way for alternative rock.
Rising out of the ashes of Vinnie Vincent Invasion, members Mark Slaughter (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) and Dana Strum (bass) brought in Tim Kelly (lead guitar) and Blas Elias (drums) to form Slaughter in 1988. The band quickly got to work developing their sound, fusing catchy pop melodies with their driving metal in the hope that they could find crossover appeal between rock fans and pop fans alike.
Success was not long awaited for Slaughter, with their debut album becoming a huge breakthrough hit. Bolstered by three hit singles, “Fly to the Angels,” “Up All Night” and “Spend My Life,” the debut recording went on to be certified double-Platinum in the US. Having been requested by Orion Pictures, the band then recorded the single “Shout it Out,” which appeared in the film, “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey,” gaining heavy airplay and finding new fans from this exposure.
Their second effort, “The Wild Life,” appeared in 1992, achieving moderate success through the hit, “Real Love,” becoming certified Gold. Plans to return to the studio for a third album were set back by Kelly’s arrest for drug trafficking, as well as a motorcycle accident that prevented Strum from being gable to play due to his injuries. The album was finally completed in 1994 but by then it was released upon a changing musical market and the band were soon dropped from their label.
Signing to CMC Records, they returned with 1995’s “Fear No Evil,” a commercial failure in the US but the band had found a huge market in Japan. After releasing 1997’s “Revolution,” a more psychedelic affair, the band were struck with tragedy, following the sudden death of guitarist Kelly. Despite being deeply affected by the loss, Slaughter continued, releasing 199’s “Back to Reality,” which found commercial success once again through a number of successful singles.
Whilst not returning to the studio, the band have since toured extensively alongside the likes of Mötley Crüe member Vince Neil, Skid Row, Quiet Riot and Firehouse amongst others, helping to keep the hair metal fandom alive.
Live reviews
Members Mark Slaughter (lead vocals/rhythm guitar and namesake of the band) and Dana Strum (bass) brought in Tim Kelly (lead guitar) and Blas Elias (drums) to form what would become Slaughter, a band that bravely crossed lines where lines had never been crossed before. Fusing pop and rock to create only the most alternative of sounds, Slaughter combined the heavy rock and metal that their band name was founded upon (as well as, you know, Mark’s egoism) with catchy pop melodies. The crowds went wild. Arenas cheered. These guys were innovators. Entrepreneurs. In doing the unthinkable, they created the unbelievable. The band’s breakout hit was the fruit of their fruitions. And it was this breakout hit album that marked the band’s live show. They packed their set with nostalgia, playing their earliest hits in order to appease and please the screaming crowd who had come to see them showcase their best. Hits from their album ‘Back to Reality’ also featured heavily and the band commemorated Kelly at the end of the show, in beautiful style.

They were amazing. This is the 3rd time I've seen them. They have only gotten better. Mark was amazing. He set the tone for a great show. Blando was really impressive on lead guitar and at one point, I thought Mark was singing but it was Blando! Dana was right on, fucking hard core bass the whole time. Not to mention his hair...beautiful and golden. Zolten was great on the drums. He's got lots of high energy.
And...I had the good fortune of catching mark on his way out for a brief meet and greet. He is the very cool down to earth guy that you hear he is. Even better looking up close.
That concert will go down as one of the best experiences of my life.
I strongly recommend anyone who gets the chance to see them, do it.
Never stop rocking, Slaughter!
Very glad I was there. Very disappointed in the length of the show. Only 1 hour. This band has so many great songs, and yet they only played an hour and no encour The drummer Zoltan Chaney was the most entertaining drummer I’ve ever seen. I loved how Mark came off stage for Eye To Eye. First time seeing that ! I would see them again, but hopefully with a longer show. Mark needs to get rid of the echo effects. Sure his voice isn’t as high, but it’s still good and that crap just made it worse. Changed up my favorite song of Mad about You, didn’t even recognize it. Nevertheless I would still see Slaughter every chance I get
Slaughter is commonly referred to as a band from the "hair metal era." But their music has stood the test of time and is relevant today. Their sound is a hard rocking sound with a few power ballads.
A Slaughter show is a must see for any rock fan. They give their all when performing and go above and beyond to entertain the fans. They don't just play their instruments, they make you feel the music.
I see Slaughter as much as I can because it is a party atmosphere and a safe way to escape everyday life for a few hours. So if you get a chance to see them, I highly recommend it-You won't regret it!!!
They sounded like some screaming metal band. The music was way too loud. One of the guitar players kept having issues with his guitar and had to keep stopping to fiddle with it. Mark didn’t actually sing anything, just screamed the majority of the songs. They played maybe 5 songs? And I’m only saying maybe 5 because the second song played, they didn’t even finish it. They stopped and started another song mid way. Ticket prices weren’t worth seeing them.
Excellent show. Always look forward to seeing them when they cum thru Phoenix. Wish more 80's hair bands would make an appearance...still waiting for Firehouse! It was awesome to see Mark Slaughter cruise thru the audience to reach out to the fans and even take pics with them. The drummer is absolutely awesome and I even got a pic of him mid air jumping from the Marshall stacks. Wish I could share it but there's no option. Rock on!
The concert lasted about 45 minutes. I liked that Mark came into the crowd singing and giving high fives. He was not totally on key with his songs and sometimes didn't sing all the words. They did fly to the angels pretty well though. All of a sudden the music stopped without warning and the next band was setting up. That was really weird no encore or goodbyes. I don't know how I feel about that part. Overall not a bad show.
Aww hell yeah seen mark slaughter once before but age is doing him nothing but keeping. Him Rocking n still sexy as ever he came out into the audience not. To. Where. I was tho(dammit) bit. I still have his. Guitar pick from 1st show!! Sorry to hear of his loss of. Is aunt n my condolences to his entire family. N Dumass airlines lost. Luggage but. Still looked pretty dam got to me!!
They were awesome as always and Mark even seemed to be more enjoyably relaxed.
Sons of Kaos, the opening band was not their shadow. Kaos animated the audience, possibly much more than a lead band would anticipated. No doubt they were eons more amiable. Got pics with each. But, no, drummer Zoltan (from Slaughter), "had to work", after the show. No fan pics. Sorry for honesty.
What a great show Mark and the band put on in Scottsdale Az at BLK Live. With Mark's ever amazing voice to his actually leaving the stage and getting into the audience for the song "Eye To Eye" was the absolute highlight of the evening. The band also put on a great show with their stylish showmanship. I can not wait to see Slaughter again.

10 metal tours we’re unreasonably excited for in 2023
Metallica, Maiden, Sleep Token, Babymetal, Spiritbox… 2023 is looking like a killer year for metal tours
2022 was the year that live music fully returned after the barren wasteland that was the pandemic era. And what a year it was! Rammstein burned down a few more stadiums, Parkway Drive and Ghost cemented their status as modern arena heavyweights, Iron Maiden and Kiss rolled back the years at Download, and Bloodstock gave us everything from a secret Machine Head set to a returning Mercyful Fate. All told, 2023 has got a hell of a lot to live up to, but it’s looking very strong already. Here are 10 metal tours we cannot wait to get down the front of.
There are fewer things in music more than a new Metallica album, and we’re getting one this year. Not only are the planet's biggest metal band releasing the seven-years-in-the-making 72 Seasons on April 14, but they’re also embarking on their most ambitious tour. Spanning 2023 and 2024, it will see the band taking up residency in 72 different cities across the globe (plus Download) each of which will see them playing two different sets, presumably allowing them to dip into some of the dustier corners of their illustrious back catalogue. Add in support slots from Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Architects and more, and you’ve got the tour that sets the benchmark for the next two years.
Unquestionably the breakout metal band of the last few years, if Spiritbox ’s shows on UK soil thus far are anything to go by then their July tour is going to be one for the ages. The venues they are playing this time around are quite the upgrade from the 800 cap Islington venue, but, when you factor in the momentum Spiritbox have, they look positively humble in comparison to where they will likely be in next time they come around. In a few years you’ll be able to say “I was there!”.
Sleep Token
Sleep Token were one of the most talked about bands of 2022. Their mix of dexterous tech-metal, hook filled, huge, melodic pop vocals and their mysteriously masked image has proven to be something of a perfect storm for fans, and their ascent can be measured by the fact that during their upcoming February tour they will play venues measured in their thousands rather than hundreds. If the intensity of their shows can translate in these larger rooms then this could be their coronation into the big leagues.
Sabaton/Babymetal/Lordi
Could it be the most OTT tour in the history of music? We’re certainly scratching our heads trying to remember a night with more potential giddy thrills than seeing Swedish power metal legends Sabaton, Kawaii metal innovators Babymetal and Eurovision winning metal monsters Lordi all taking turns to batter our senses. What’s most impressive about this bill is the fact that these are three bands that are the absolute antithesis of “cool” and yet they find themselves joining forces to decimate some of the most sizeable arenas across the United Kingdom. Whatever you think of each band, you can’t deny, it’ll certainly be eventful.
Trivium delivered a potential career best record in 2020’s What the Dead Men Say , and we were desperate to see those songs live. The pandemic happened, which put paid to that for a while. Rather than rest on their laurels, the Floridans made another album which was equally as good, 2021’s In the Court of the Dragon. Obviously, Trivium have always been a great live band, but we’ve been waiting for what feels like forever to see those new songs in the flesh, and during the first month of the year we finally will. The fact that metalcore veterans Heaven Shall Burn and Sheffield destroyers Malevolence are on the bill too is a particularly tasty cherry on the cake.
Getting to see Gojira in arenas across the UK has been a long time coming, and we’re not just referring to the pandemic in this case either. The French prog-death-groove metal machine has been on frighteningly unstoppable form for over a decade now, crushing any locale they play. Their last album Fortitude, Hammer’s album of the year in 2021, was more streamlined and designed for exactly the kind of rooms they will find themselves in this coming February. Expect them to effortlessly make the step up.
Lamb of God/Kreator/Municipal Waste
Back in late 2019 it was announced that Richmond groove metal heroes Lamb of God and German thrash legends Kreator were joining forces to obliterate the United Kingdom. It’s been pushed back numerous times over the years, but this March we will finally see the pair on the same stage. It’s sad to look back at the initial bill and see the name Power Trip there, with the bands late frontman Riley Gale still very much in our thoughts, but with their place taken by another top-notch thrash band in Municipal Waste, this still promises to be one of the finest no-bullshit metal tours of the year.
Limp Bizkit
Are we finally okay to admit that Limp Bizkit are great now? It’s been well over a decade since the rap-metal megastars came back to decimate Download in 2009, and they’ve been one of the most reliably brilliant, party starting live bands ever since. The four dates they do in April, rescheduled from 2022, will be the most raucous, bouncy, boisterous night of the year, no doubt. And, with a bunch of, actually pretty decent, new songs to chuck into the set from their 2021 album Still Sucks we might even get a little bit more than pure nostalgic fun from Fred Durst and Co.
Iron Maiden
Yeah, it had to be really didn’t it. It’s been less than a year since we got to see the new Senjutsu stage set, but the fact is, as soon as Maiden announce a full arena run, it’s always going to get onto a list such as this. You’re not going to find a more consistent band in metal, or a more life affirming show as a Maiden one here on British soil, surrounded by tens of thousands of fellow metal-loving friends.
Ozzy Osbourne/Judas Priest
Possibly the most agonising wait that any of us have had or will ever have for a live show. Originally set to take place in 2019, these dates had to be rescheduled more than once, and as the years progressed, we couldn’t help but wonder if we were ever going to see them take place. Ozzy’s health has been up and down over that time, but he’s still the Prince of fucking Darkness, only a fool would pass up the chance to see him one last time. We’re crossing everything and praying that these dates finally go ahead in June.

Calling all metalheads! If you’re a lover of a headbanger and are itching to get in a crowd and freak out, we’ve got you covered. Live music is back in full swing and with that said, there are lots of metal acts who have announced tours for the year ahead.
Before you fill up your diary with concerts, here are some of the most exciting metal tours that are set to take place in 2023!
For Metallica fans, you’ll be happy to know you’re getting a brand-new album this year. Not only are the world’s biggest metal group releasing their album ’72 Seasons’ on 14 th April, they are also embarking on their most ambitious tour to date. Throughout 2023 and 2024, Metallica will be taking up residency in multiple cities all over the globe. The band are also set to appear at this year’s Download Festival too!
What makes their upcoming tour unique is they’ll be playing 2 different sets! This allows them to dive into their back catalogue and pick on fan favourites that you might not have heard in a while. With support acts like Five Finger Death Punch and Pantera gracing the stage beforehand, Metallica’s tour is definitely one not to be missed!
Spiritbox are undoubtedly the breakout metal group of the last couple of years. If the band’s concerts on UK soil so far are anything to go by, their tour in July is set to be one to remember. The venues they plan to play in this time are substantially bigger too. However, when you factor in the momentum the group have gained, they are rather humble in comparison to where they’re likely to be the next time they’re on tour!
As the group grow and grow, it’s inevitable they’ll take to arenas and beyond. If you want to say ‘I was there!’ before they truly hit the big time, make sure to snap up a ticket to their summer shows before they sell out. As you gear up for Spiritbox’s spectacle, why not head to OnlineCasinos UK and play on some fun-filled games to get you psyched up?
Sleep Token
If there was one band that was spoken about a lot last year, it’s got to be Sleep Token. Their mix of hook-filled; melodic pop vocals has won fans all over the globe. Sleep Token are set to grace the stage in February, playing venues all over.
Sleep Token have definitely worked their way up the live touring circuit. It was only last year where we saw the metal band play at venues like Birmingham’s 02 Institute. With a capacity of just over 1,000, they’re swapping the more intimate spaces for something bigger! Make sure to check for tickets for their upcoming UK tour to avoid disappointment!
Trivium are another metal group that delivered an album like no other in 2020. Titled ‘What the Dead Men Say’, the album spawned an array of tracks that fans are desperate to catch live. After this release, the COVID-19 pandemic struck which put live music on the back burner. Thankfully, the Floridians whipped up another album in 2021 ‘In the Court of the Dragon’ which many fans say is better than the former!
The good news is Trivium are taking these albums on the road. Throughout 2023, the band will be playing all over the globe. Expect to hear tracks from both albums, not to forget their extensive back catalogue too.
Having the opportunity to see Gojira in arenas throughout the UK has certainly been a long time coming. Those fans of this French prog-death-groove metal group are sure to be in for a treat. Over the past decade, Gojira have gone from strength to strength. Their last album ‘Fortitude’ is regarded as one of their best among fans.
In February, the group will be travelling up and down the UK playing shows. Like with all the tours listed, just make sure you grab a ticket fast as they’re sure to sell out! The band will be playing the likes of Nottingham, Birmingham, and a special concert and London’s Alexandra Palace .
Limp Bizkit
Can we finally say Limp Bizkit are great? It has been well over 10 years since the rap-metal legends came back to dominate Download in 2009. Throughout their career, they have been known as one of the most reliable and amazing metal groups there ever was! Limp Bizkit head to the UK shores in April to play 4 shows. Expect the most bouncy, boisterous, and raucous night of the year!
The group are sure to play songs from their 2021 studio album ‘Still Sucks’. Who knows? We may even get a little bit more from their lengthy discography! What we will say is Limp Bizkit are definitely not a group to be missed this year.
Ozzy Osbourne
When we think of metal music, it’s safe to say Ozzy Osbourne is a name that springs to mind first. Possibly the most excruciating wait that any of us have endured for a live show is this metal legend. His tour dates were originally meant to commence in 2019. However, these dates had to be rescheduled numerous times. As the years went by, we wondered whether they were ever going to happen!
While Ozzy’s health has been up and down over the years, he is still the Prince of Darkness. The good news is his tour dates are expected to run this year. It will definitely help to cross your fingers and toes too! Ozzy is expected to descend on the UK in May beginning in Nottingham, before moving on to the likes of Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, London, and his hometown Birmingham!
Metal fans are going to be truly spoilt this year. After all, there are so many legendary artists and bands going on tour in 2023! Whoever catches your eye, there are no excuses not to pick up a ticket to any of the tours above. We can guarantee you’re going to have a wild night out that you’ll remember forever!

The Most Anticipated Metal and Rock Concert Tours of 2023
2023 is rolling up to be an excellent year for new albums and an equally exciting year for live music. Pantera will perform its first gigs in the United States in over 22 years.

That’s only a taste of the numerous epic trips we can’t wait to take on our next voyage around the sun. TOOL band is also coming back with a new tour. Foo Fighters, Puscifer, Enslaved, Cradle of Filth, DevilDriver, Life of Agony, Sick of it All, Spiritbox , and many more will tour in 2023 worldwide, including European, Asia, Australia, Canada, South America, and more.
Most Anticipated Metal and Rock Concert Tours of 2023
Let’s check which metal and rock bands’ concert tours we are excited about for 2023. You can also check our comprehensive concert and tour dates page here .
The Metallica tour starts on April 23rd, 2023, and this tour will finish on September 29th, 2024.

Tool ‘s upcoming 2023 tour starts this Spring. So, Tool announces a couple of tour dates. But they will be adding more concert dates soon.
According to Tool ‘s frontman Maynard James Keenan :
“The guys in Tool, they just take longer to process information and get it together and present me something that I can start building on. I have made the mistake in the past of trying to build on something that wasn’t ready yet. And then all the work I put into building on the thing, they change the foundation.
If I’m trying to decorate the house and then you move where the doors are or the windows or add a floor, I gotta start over, as an interior decorator. I have to wait for them to do it, so there’s time. I have time to do all these other things in between because I can and I should. One could argue a little bit of discipline and a little prodding, a little cattle prod or a taser would help move these guys along a little faster. But that’s their process, you just have to kind of respect it.
It’s frustrating. I’m sure they’re frustrated with me because they hand it to me and I’m like, ‘It’s done.’ like, ‘You didn’t take any time with it?’ Yes, it took 50 years for this reaction to these things. I’ve been preparing for decades to hear these things and be able to react honestly, and I riff on them – on all the songs, on all the projects.”
Pantera ‘s tour will start on July 2023.

But there’s going to be one European tour, one American tour. We are going to do a little bit of everywhere.

And there’s going to be something in the Oceania world, and there might be something south of Panama, and there might be something slightly north of Panama. It feels pretty solid.”

'90s rock band Creed adds second Nashville show at Bridgestone Arena
1990s rock band Creed has reunited with all four of the band's original members and on the heels of multiple sold-out shows, has extended its "Summer of 99" tour with its "Are You Ready," tour adding 20 additional arena dates. Both tours include Nashville shows.
The group will play to a sold-out crowd at Ascend Amphitheater on Aug. 13 with Tonic and Finger Eleven as part of the "Summer of 99" tour and has added a Bridgestone Arena show Friday, Nov. 8 with Three Doors Down and Mammoth WVH, which is part of the "Are You Ready" extended tour.
According to a release, the unveiled “Summer of '99” tour, initially announced last October, has already sold-out half of its dates in major cities.

Creed formed in Tallahassee, Fla., in 1994 and has weathered several band break-ups, battles with addiction, hiatuses, members going solo and forming other bands. In fact, front man Scott Stapp’s fourth solo album "Higher Power" is set to release March 15.

After an eleven-year hiatus, Creed announced a reunion in July 2023 with four of its original members (Scott Phillips, Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti and Brian Marshall) and announced that they would be headlining two different "Summer of '99" cruise festivals in April, which resulted in immediate sell-outs.
With more than 53 million albums sold worldwide, Creed is one of an elite few hard rock bands to earn RIAA Diamond-certified status for more than 11 million sales of their 1999 release "Human Clay" in the United States.
General ticket sales for the "Are You Ready" tour begin Friday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. local time at Creed.com .
