Sttoke Ceramic Coated Steel Coffee Cup Review

I recently purchased the 8 oz sized Sttoke cup (also commonly misspelled as Stoke), after seeing a Facebook ad. Here’s my Sttoke cup review.

The ad and web site make it seem as if the shatterproof reusable cup is made of unbreakable ceramic, but what you actually get is a steel cup with a Greblon ceramic coating (made by the German coating company Greblon). This is probably better, since the stainless steel construction really is unbreakable. I was expecting something actually made of ceramic, even though I was wondering at the same time how it would be unbreakable if it was really ceramic.

Sttoke mugs have a cool minimalistic design and comes in 3 sizes; 8 oz, 12 oz and 16 oz cups. The external coating comes in several colors including angel white, steel blue, rust brown, satin green, yellow stone, blush rose, mousse taupe, unicorn purple, slated gray and midnight black. It claims to keep a hot liquid at a consistent temperature for up to 3 hours.

I chose the 8 oz Sttoke reusable coffee cup because I have a Krups coffee maker that has limited space to place your coffee cup. Taller cups won’t fit. So if you have a high end espresso machine, you’re probably familiar with this scenario where you can’t fit most travel mugs into the machine, so you either have to make the coffee into a cup and then pour that cup into your travel mug, or some other workaround.

The cup came delivered in a plastic envelope with the boxed cup inside. The box inside was all beat up from being inside the envelope, but the unbreakable steel cup was still in perfect condition.

The cup also comes with a spill-proof lid so you can take the cup with you. It’s one of those standard travel lids with a secure lid closure that you can slide back to open a drinking hole. It works as well as any other lid of this design, and the lid fits the cup. The cup shape is very well designed so that the bottom part of the mug is small and will fit into any car’s cup holder

The bottom of the mug also has bit of either rubber or silicone or some kind of plastic that gives it a non-skid surface when you set it down someplace slippery. So for example, if you set the cup on the roof of your car for a minute when you were about to step into the vehicle, it won’t slide off or get knocked over by a gust of wind. It works very well and was a nicely thought out feature that I don’t think they even mention in the description. Regular ceramic cups and ceramic mugs are not shatterproof, but the Sttoke overcomes this issue since it is actually a steel cup with ceramic coating, which gives it extra durability.

I didn’t buy this as a travel mug, but wanted it as my own reusable coffee cup to use at home. It’s a cool cup. I liked the idea of the ceramic interior finish so my coffee would not pick up any residual odors or flavors from my cup. This way I enjoy only the flavor of my morning coffee. But more importantly, the cup promises to keep your coffee warm longer. I hate lukewarm or cold coffee, and generally have to rush to finish my cup in my regular mug. I was hoping that the Stoke coffee cup would solve this problem.

And indeed, it works great. My perfect cup of coffee stays hot for much longer. It’s a double wall steel cup, like those super popular Yeti mugs from a few years back. It insulates the hot contents of coffee (or even tea), but doesn’t allow heat retention on the exterior of the cup when you are holding a hot drink. The narrow bottom and wide mouth make it easy to hold in your hand.

This is currently my favorite new coffee mug, and I’ve been using it daily since I bought it.

I think this is a high quality product and I recommend it, although I will point out that it’s pretty expensive for just a small steel cup with a ceramic coating. I imagine the additional price gives them enough profit margin to sell the cup with social media ads and that’s why it’s so high and not because it actually costs very much to manufacture.

Still, I’m happy with mine even at the relatively high price, because it keeps my coffee warm and it fits in my machine. Coffee drinkers, please note that only the 8 oz version would fit my espresso machine, and the 12 oz version would be too tall.

Sttoke Reusable Cups might just be the coolest new travel mugs to hit the U.S. market for 2020. Thanks to Sttoke’s partnership with Anita Tam and the good folks at Slow Pour Supply , the Sttoke line of cups is now available in the United States. Together, these two companies promise to change the travel mug game with a sleek new design and some cool features unseen in the market. I got my hands on two mugs from the line to try out, and let me tell you, the design and features packed into these little mugs are impressive.

The Sttoke mug has some really awesome new features that performed even better than mentioned on their website. Upon first glance, I was skeptical of what seems to be a thin ceramic that constitutes the body of the Sttoke mugs. Sttoke claims that they are using a new German-engineered Greblon Ceramic . Upon further research, I found that Greblon is a ceramic coating that is highly scratch- and temperature-resistant. Greblon is also shatter-proof and has a very nice feel in the hand. Sttoke has the Greblon Ceramic coating applied over the top of double-wall-insulated stainless steel for optimum heat retention and preservation of flavor integrity. This construction also makes the Sttoke very durable and able to retain its aesthetic beauty through your day-to-day wear-and-tear.

I’m not sure exactly how it works, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that Greblon is also the German word for “voodoo magic.” You see, the walls of the Sttoke are uber-thin (German pun intended) and somehow do not get warm to the touch. Now, hearing that, I personally might think that the liquid inside the Sttoke was not very hot. Let me tell you that the first time I used my Sttoke, this was my thought because the outside of the mug was not even warm to the touch. I went to take a big swig of coffee, with my fingers less than a half-centimeter from the liquid, and burned my tongue to a crisp.

This brings me to my next point—the Sttoke line of mugs is very temperature stable. Sttoke claims that their mugs will keep your drink hot for up to three hours. The “spill-proof,” BPA-free plastic lid is well constructed with a sliding open/close valve for drinking from. The ergonomic design of the mug fits very well in the hand due to the light weight and narrow profile. Overall the Sttoke does a fantastic job of keeping your drink hot and keeping you safe from spills and burns (unless you’re like me and drink your coffee before it cools). This combined with the Greblon coating preserves the flavor and optimal temperature of your coffee for as long as it takes you to finish it. If you’re tired of burning your tongue on thermos coffee, though, just keep the lid open until it’s at your optimal drinking temperature!

The Sttoke mugs were also named a Gold Winner at the Good Design Awards , and it is easy to see why when you take a look at the stunning list of colors they’re available in. Check out their beautiful options in colors like Luna Marble or Coral Sunset that come in either 8- or 12-ounce varieties. I personally have been loving my 8-ounce mug in Ivory Chai for an afternoon pick-me-up and my 12-ounce mug in Magnetic Blue for my morning coffee. Overall I have been really happy with my two Sttoke travel mugs. They are proven to be well-constructed, thoughtfully produced, and aesthetically very beautiful. I would be happy to recommend these mugs to anyone serious about their coffee who is looking to improve their travel mug experience.

Winning Keep Cup

I’ve bought and experienced several different makers’ keep cups and the Sttoke cup is the winner. Clearly it’s been through a considered design process. Thermally it keeps my coffee hot for a more than acceptable length of time. You have none of those odd flavour taints you can get thanks to the ceramic lining. The base which appears narrow by comparison, is a width that fits into the smaller holders in the vehicles I drive unlike my previous mugs. Oh and on the odd occasion I have knocked my cup over, the screw-top lid stays in place and doesn’t leak. I’m a happy mobile coffee drinker.

hydrate+ and lids

I liked that there is a hydrate+ module but it is difficult to clean. Perhaps it is something the developers can look into :). Also the seal of the leakproof lid depends on the temperature of the fluids, so I hope that we can buy them separately easily

Sttoke is essential and coffee doesn't taste better in anything else. The smooth satin ceramic finish, opaque leak proof lid and soft leather cup holder easily makes it the one of the best coffee cups for those with eye for aesthetics. Keeping my drink cold for hours, using a reusable cup has been the same. STTOKE is simply the best!

The perfect cup that ticks all boxes

I been looking around for the perfect coffee cup on the go and I'm glad I finally found Sttoke Commuter. (1) It has a smaller footprint so it fits most car cupholders. (2) The ceramic coating is a must for anyone who appreciates their coffee. (3) The build quality is up to expectations. (4) yes it's a bit pricey but it's worth it to retain the coffee flavour like how you would expect it to taste like from a glass/ceramic cup.

Solving after taste issue

GHOSTED by this company after receiving damaged item and being promised a replacement

Bought the Two For the Casual Commuter bundle for the purpose of gifting and was disappointed when one of the cups arrived with blemishes and a chipped outer coat. Contacted customer service on the same day it arrived and was promised a replacement would be sent and that a tracking number would be provided. I waited for almost two weeks but not only did the replacement not arrive as promised, the company completely GHOSTED—no replies despite sending multiple follow up emails. I even tried to reach out on Instagram and lo and behold, was left on read. I can’t wrap my head around the ridiculousness of the situation and wish I had did more research before because it appears I am not alone in this experience. I have given up on waiting for a replacement as it won’t arrive on time (coming from China) for the event I needed it for and will be filing for a chargeback with my bank to get my money back instead. What an awful shame.

It insulates the coffee very well than most of the thermal flask out there, and it's ceramic, I don't need to worry it gets rusty after using some time. And it looks high class :)

In the famous words of Jeremey Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May from the TV shows Top Gear and The Grand Tour, "How hard can it be?" I literally have been slowly collecting…

I literally have been slowly collecting these over the past year ... I think they are honestly the best product on the market ! I left the ice from an iced chai in mine From 10am , in the car until 6am the next morning when I remembered it was there - and there was still ice in it ! On the flip side , my coffee stays piping hot so when I start running around in the morning - I know I can go back yo it hours later and it's still piping hot ! 10/10 for me .. yes they are a bit pricey but well worth saving up for !

Effective support in promptly addressing issues

I bought a Classic bundle with two additional tea infusers. Everything arrived in excellent condition. However, one of the tea infusers couldn’t screw tight, and one Hydrate+ didn’t hold onto the cup properly. I reached out to the support team, explained my issues, and they promptly sent me replacement parts. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with their service.

STTOKE cups are the best cups.

STTOKE cups are the best travellers I’ve found. By far! I have tried so many ‘leakproof’ cups and this is honestly the only one that genuinely does not leak. At all. I’ve thrown it into my pram, handbag, car etc full of coffee to test its limits, and it is yet to disappoint. No leaks. Hot coffee always (or cold water). Stylish. Tastes great. This cup ticks all boxes and more! I’ve bought for friends and family and they all love them and have recommended to their friends. Customer service is also fantastic!

Good quality cup very premium feel

A sttoke memory to last.

Magnetic blue - simply love the color. Got it as a gift from an old with my name engraved in silver is simply beautiful. Exceptional customer service

Exceptional customer service! The spout cover on the lid broke after a couple of times of handwashing; not expecting much, I requested customer service for a replacement, and was pleasantly surprised when they shipped me one even though this was not covered by their warranty. The double wall ceramic mug is the best insulated mug I’ve had for coffee! I can be a bit picky with it.

Best leak proof mug

I’ve used my mug almost everyday for coffee and I absolutely love the fact that I could just chuck it in my bag with no worry of leaking. I’m a teacher and I often carry a big tote bag of personal things and teaching stuff (papers and teaching tools etc) and leaking mugs had been such a pain before I invested in STTOKE mug. Totally worth the money for no stress of leaking (and no hassle to dry all the papers that’s coffee damaged!). And I’ve (and the students) knocked the mug over and dropped so many times and it just never cracked. Not even a dent. Hands down the best mug I’ve ever had!

I’ve owned many ceramic travel mugs, but have not found one that I love until this one! It is amazing! Beautiful design, doesn’t leak, keeps warm and love the ceramic inside so it feels like I’m drinking from a mug! Love it and will buy it in another colour!

I really like the weight and feel of this cup. It also has way better heat retention than my white Hydroflask travel mug for coffee. I do wish this STTOKE lid had the same aesthetic as the body of the mug; due to the plastic appearance of the lid, I probably won't repurchase to give as a gift. Also, even when I push the lid all the way back, it touches/gets coffee on my nose when drinking from it. Asides from the lid, the body of this cup is nice to hold. Lastly, I generally find it hard to find ceramic travel mugs in larger sizes, so I appreciate that STTOKE offers larger sizes! This is a great travel cup for personal use and it's very easy to clean.

The Moscow Metro Museum of Art: 10 Must-See Stations

There are few times one can claim having been on the subway all afternoon and loving it, but the Moscow Metro provides just that opportunity.  While many cities boast famous public transport systems—New York’s subway, London’s underground, San Salvador’s chicken buses—few warrant hours of exploration.  Moscow is different: Take one ride on the Metro, and you’ll find out that this network of railways can be so much more than point A to B drudgery.

The Metro began operating in 1935 with just thirteen stations, covering less than seven miles, but it has since grown into the world’s third busiest transit system ( Tokyo is first ), spanning about 200 miles and offering over 180 stops along the way.  The construction of the Metro began under Joseph Stalin’s command, and being one of the USSR’s most ambitious building projects, the iron-fisted leader instructed designers to create a place full of svet (radiance) and svetloe budushchee (a radiant future), a palace for the people and a tribute to the Mother nation.

Consequently, the Metro is among the most memorable attractions in Moscow.  The stations provide a unique collection of public art, comparable to anything the city’s galleries have to offer and providing a sense of the Soviet era, which is absent from the State National History Museum.  Even better, touring the Metro delivers palpable, experiential moments, which many of us don’t get standing in front of painting or a case of coins.

Though tours are available , discovering the Moscow Metro on your own provides a much more comprehensive, truer experience, something much less sterile than following a guide.  What better place is there to see the “real” Moscow than on mass transit: A few hours will expose you to characters and caricatures you’ll be hard-pressed to find dining near the Bolshoi Theater.  You become part of the attraction, hear it in the screech of the train, feel it as hurried commuters brush by: The Metro sucks you beneath the city and churns you into the mix.

With the recommendations of our born-and-bred Muscovite students, my wife Emma and I have just taken a self-guided tour of what some locals consider the top ten stations of the Moscow Metro. What most satisfied me about our Metro tour was the sense of adventure .  I loved following our route on the maps of the wagon walls as we circled the city, plotting out the course to the subsequent stops; having the weird sensation of being underground for nearly four hours; and discovering the next cavern of treasures, playing Indiana Jones for the afternoon, piecing together fragments of Russia’s mysterious history.  It’s the ultimate interactive museum.

Top Ten Stations (In order of appearance)

Kievskaya station.

Kievskaya Station went public in March of 1937, the rails between it and Park Kultury Station being the first to cross the Moscow River.  Kievskaya is full of mosaics depicting aristocratic scenes of Russian life, with great cameo appearances by Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin.  Each work has a Cyrillic title/explanation etched in the marble beneath it; however, if your Russian is rusty, you can just appreciate seeing familiar revolutionary dates like 1905 ( the Russian Revolution ) and 1917 ( the October Revolution ).

Mayakovskaya Station

Mayakovskaya Station ranks in my top three most notable Metro stations. Mayakovskaya just feels right, done Art Deco but no sense of gaudiness or pretention.  The arches are adorned with rounded chrome piping and create feeling of being in a jukebox, but the roof’s expansive mosaics of the sky are the real showstopper.  Subjects cleverly range from looking up at a high jumper, workers atop a building, spires of Orthodox cathedrals, to nimble aircraft humming by, a fleet of prop planes spelling out CCCP in the bluest of skies.

Novoslobodskaya Station

Novoslobodskaya is the Metro’s unique stained glass station.  Each column has its own distinctive panels of colorful glass, most of them with a floral theme, some of them capturing the odd sailor, musician, artist, gardener, or stenographer in action.  The glass is framed in Art Deco metalwork, and there is the lovely aspect of discovering panels in the less frequented haunches of the hall (on the trackside, between the incoming staircases).  Novosblod is, I’ve been told, the favorite amongst out-of-town visitors.

Komsomolskaya Station

Komsomolskaya Station is one of palatial grandeur.  It seems both magnificent and obligatory, like the presidential palace of a colonial city.  The yellow ceiling has leafy, white concrete garland and a series of golden military mosaics accenting the tile mosaics of glorified Russian life.  Switching lines here, the hallway has an Alice-in-Wonderland feel, impossibly long with decorative tile walls, culminating in a very old station left in a remarkable state of disrepair, offering a really tangible glimpse behind the palace walls.

Dostoevskaya Station

Dostoevskaya is a tribute to the late, great hero of Russian literature .  The station at first glance seems bare and unimpressive, a stark marble platform without a whiff of reassembled chips of tile.  However, two columns have eerie stone inlay collages of scenes from Dostoevsky’s work, including The Idiot , The Brothers Karamazov , and Crime and Punishment.   Then, standing at the center of the platform, the marble creates a kaleidoscope of reflections.  At the entrance, there is a large, inlay portrait of the author.

Chkalovskaya Station

Chkalovskaya does space Art Deco style (yet again).  Chrome borders all.  Passageways with curvy overhangs create the illusion of walking through the belly of a chic, new-age spacecraft.  There are two (kos)mosaics, one at each end, with planetary subjects.  Transferring here brings you above ground, where some rather elaborate metalwork is on display.  By name similarity only, I’d expected Komsolskaya Station to deliver some kosmonaut décor; instead, it was Chkalovskaya that took us up to the space station.

Elektrozavodskaya Station

Elektrozavodskaya is full of marble reliefs of workers, men and women, laboring through the different stages of industry.  The superhuman figures are round with muscles, Hollywood fit, and seemingly undeterred by each Herculean task they respectively perform.  The station is chocked with brass, from hammer and sickle light fixtures to beautiful, angular framework up the innards of the columns.  The station’s art pieces are less clever or extravagant than others, but identifying the different stages of industry is entertaining.

Baumanskaya Statio

Baumanskaya Station is the only stop that wasn’t suggested by the students.  Pulling in, the network of statues was just too enticing: Out of half-circle depressions in the platform’s columns, the USSR’s proud and powerful labor force again flaunts its success.  Pilots, blacksmiths, politicians, and artists have all congregated, posing amongst more Art Deco framing.  At the far end, a massive Soviet flag dons the face of Lenin and banners for ’05, ’17, and ‘45.  Standing in front of the flag, you can play with the echoing roof.

Ploshchad Revolutsii Station

Novokuznetskaya Station

Novokuznetskaya Station finishes off this tour, more or less, where it started: beautiful mosaics.  This station recalls the skyward-facing pieces from Mayakovskaya (Station #2), only with a little larger pictures in a more cramped, very trafficked area.  Due to a line of street lamps in the center of the platform, it has the atmosphere of a bustling market.  The more inventive sky scenes include a man on a ladder, women picking fruit, and a tank-dozer being craned in.  The station’s also has a handsome black-and-white stone mural.

Here is a map and a brief description of our route:

Start at (1)Kievskaya on the “ring line” (look for the squares at the bottom of the platform signs to help you navigate—the ring line is #5, brown line) and go north to Belorusskaya, make a quick switch to the Dark Green/#2 line, and go south one stop to (2)Mayakovskaya.  Backtrack to the ring line—Brown/#5—and continue north, getting off at (3)Novosblodskaya and (4)Komsolskaya.  At Komsolskaya Station, transfer to the Red/#1 line, go south for two stops to Chistye Prudy, and get on the Light Green/#10 line going north.  Take a look at (5)Dostoevskaya Station on the northern segment of Light Green/#10 line then change directions and head south to (6)Chkalovskaya, which offers a transfer to the Dark Blue/#3 line, going west, away from the city center.  Have a look (7)Elektroskaya Station before backtracking into the center of Moscow, stopping off at (8)Baumskaya, getting off the Dark Blue/#3 line at (9)Ploschad Revolyutsii.  Change to the Dark Green/#2 line and go south one stop to see (10)Novokuznetskaya Station.

Stoke to pay for Kayleigh McDonald’s ACL surgery after her GoFundMe plea

Stoke City have agreed to pay for a player in their women’s team to undergo surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury after she started a GoFundMe page in order to cover the necessary costs.

Kayleigh McDonald sustained the injury during Stoke’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley in the Women’s National League North last month and, having undergone a scan, claims she was told by the club that she would have to join an NHS waiting list in order to receive treatment. Desperate to be operated on “in a more timely manner”, McDonald, a defender who joined Stoke from Blackburn last summer, decided to go down the private healthcare route, costing £20,000 – hence the setting up of the fundraiser.

“So sad to say that just when I thought the women’s game was finally getting somewhere, I receive the worst news that I will have to join the NHS waiting list for surgery after an injury I sustained playing a league game for my club,” wrote McDonald.

“I’m now in my 4th week post injury with nothing in place. I’m having to pay to see a private consultant (which is very expensive), in hope that my knee can get looked at and operated on in a more timely manner. I have suffered more mentally than physically with this injury, especially the fact it’s going to inevitably end my football career.

“I’m currently off work, not able to walk, not earning any money but still having the burden of paying my bills. Just to see a consultant it’s over a month of waiting time. I won’t be able to live financially. This has been such a difficult time for me and something I’m really struggling with. I’m embarrassed to have to resort to setting up a gofundme in order to pay for my operation, as I have been left with no other choice.”

McDonald also spoke about her plight on social media, leading to much attention and, as of 7pm on Wednesday, close to £11,700 in donations. It also led to Stoke agreeing to fund McDonald’s operation. There is a mechanism on GoFundMe that allows those seeking financial aid there to pay back donations.

The U-turn comes a little over a year after Stoke’s joint-chairman, John Coates, outlined plans to transform the club’s women’s set-up via funding that would improve “infrastructure and support”.

Stoke currently play in the third tier of the women’s game and turned semi-professional before the current season.

Moscow’s Dinamo Elektrostal are gearing up for their fifth EHL season having frequently picked off impressive wins but have yet to top their particular group in their previous attempts.

They did get the best of arch rivals Dinamo Ak-Bars in both the Russian Cup and the Prometheus International tournament to show they are knocking on the door.

There has been a reasonable level of turnover from 2020 with Anton Noshin, Evgenii Mokrousov, Aleksei Godenkov and Ivan Zuikov joining the newly formed TsOP Moskomsport outfit. Danill Karagodin, Mikhail Nekludov and Ilya Larikov have all retired.

Their replacements are mostly youngsters with Dmitry Zheleznyakov, Aleksei Samylkin, Petr Agapov, Ilia Bartenev, Andrei Gribanov and Oleg Kulakov joining their line-up.
