The Saviors Tour, fueled by Monster Energy, kicks off with the European run on 30 May in Monte De Gozo, Spain and travels through France, Germany and Italy, before reaching the UK. The North American run, produced by Live Nation, begins shortly after with a stop at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The tour will be a larger-than-life, career-spanning celebration of one of the biggest musical acts of all time and some of the most important albums in history. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s 1994 certified Diamond album, Dookie, and the 20th anniversary of 2004’s juggernaut, American Idiot. Recent tour reviews

My first Green Day experiences date back to high school, I was 15-16 and it was like ‘93-‘94 before Dookie even came to be. I would see this punk band from the Bay Area perform in some local pizza place in Bakersfield, California called Jerry’s Pizza. From then on I was in love. Like IN LOVE! I loved the bands music! Their sound was something that just got me and to this day Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? is my most favorite Green Day song still. I take a lot of pride in saying I was part of the small percentage of people who loved their music before the entire world knew who they were. They are badass, Hands down! AND I’m thankful BJ had a sweet wife and family to help him when he needed it most and that he is still breathing and that he is here to give us more music with his fellow brothers of the band.

This was my first concert in the Pit, and it was the best night of my life. I got really hyped when I saw how close I was to the stage, and I met some pretty cool people there. When Green Day came out, I actually started crying. I was standing only a couple feet away from the band at points, and I know it was a night I'm never going to forget. I think what made Green Day different that most concerts was how they called so many people on stage and gave away so much stuff. Some people got to go on stage and sing lyrics, or play guitar, and actually got to meet the band members and I honestly thought it was so amazing because they made someone else have the best night of their life. This concert was hands down 10/10, in fact, it broke the scale.

It's been 9 years since Green Day made an appearance in Northern Ireland.

Boy did they make up for it

Rancid, Green Day's tour buddies. Started the show off with high adrenaline. So much so that a mosh pit itself began to form at the front of the stage. I was slap bang in the middle of it.

This high adrenaline show meant that when Green Day started the crowd was already pumped and ready. And they delivered on the he action packed, high octane poreformance everyone wanted. I would easily call this the best night of my life without question. It was a phemomonal performance from both Green Day and Rancid and I wold seriously recommended that,if they're coming to somewhere near you. You get tickets ASAP.

The band took to their official Twitter account to announce that at each night of their forthcoming ‘Saviours’ tour, they will be playing their 1994 and 2004 LPs in full as well as other old and new tracks.

“BIG news! Each night of The Saviors Tour we’re playing both Dookie AND American Idiot in full AND a bunch of your other favorites new and old all summer long all fueled by @MonsterEnergy. You’re not going to want to miss this one!,” read the tweet they shared.

Green Day – comprised of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool – have previously shared that their 14th LP ‘Saviours’ is the one that “bridges the gap” between fan-favourites ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Dookie’ .

“I think that this record is sort of the best of everything that Green Day has,” Armstrong told  102.1 The Edge  when asked if the band ever considered ‘Saviors’ as a “part two” of ‘American Idiot’.

“[It’s] the 30 years of experience that we have, kind of come together. Whether it’s something from ‘Dookie’ or American Idiot’, I think somehow we were able to bridge the gap in making something that is like an essential record for us.”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Green Day (@greenday)

Reviewing ‘Saviors’ ,  NME  said: “There’s some serendipity in  the band hitting the road to celebrate 30 years of ‘Dookie’ and 20 years of ‘American Idiot’  later this summer. Not only does ‘Saviors’ spiritually bridge the gap between the two, but it uses the palette of the best of the band to tell us something else.

“Look to the artwork: ‘Dookie’ was a cheeky carpet-bombing of shit, ‘American Idiot’ was a hand grenade, ‘Saviors’ is an act of defiance met with a shrug; a band saying, “We’re still here and we’re still fucked”.

In other news, Armstrong recently shared that his past drinking problems were related to issues with stage fright .

The singer  entered rehab in 2012 after an onstage meltdown during a performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. He then  returned to the stage with Green Day  the following year, and has spoken openly about his recovery since.

Green Day Leaks Their Own Tour Announcement

Portrait of Alejandra Gularte

No need to walk alone if you’re not seeing Green Day at the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas this weekend. Billie Joe Armstrong announced that the band would come around a couple more times sooner than we thought. “Big announcement: We’re doing a big tour next year,” said Armstrong at their surprise show at the Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas, pretty much leaking their own announcement. He also revealed that supporting acts will include the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas. At the time, the news did not come with specific details like dates and venues, but it did come straight from the band themselves. Now, we finally have official dates to see Billie, Mike, and Tré. Cool!

The Saviors tour is touted as simultaneously supporting the band’s new album, Saviors (out January 19), the 30th anniversary of Dookie , and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot . In other words, it’s a big deal that will see them hitting 26 baseball stadiums and amphitheaters, plus at least one festival, in North America (and 16 more shows in Europe). The tour kicks off May 30 in Spain, before heading to North America on July 29 in Washington, D.C., and runs through September 28 in San Diego. Find North American dates below.

The massive 35-song set also included five tracks from the band’s latest album, Saviors, plus an encore of “Minority” and “Fancy Sauce” that wasn’t on the original setlist. Speaking of which, check out Billie Joe Armstrong’s handwritten set, plus more photos from the show below.

Walking tour to celebrate Toronto's first Black politician

William peyton hubbard served the city at the turn of the century, at times as acting mayor.

green day riverdale's tour

He was Toronto's first Black politician. These east enders want more people to know it

Social sharing.

A new walking tour this summer will celebrate the legacy of a man who literally changed the face of Toronto's politics, Canada's first elected politician who wasn't white: William Peyton Hubbard.

Elected as a City Alderman in 1894, Hubbard served until 1914, including stints as acting mayor of Toronto. But east end resident Lanrick Bennett was embarrassed to say he'd never heard of him until the 2010s — when Hubbard's name was put forward in a park naming contest in Riverdale.

In 2016, a park at Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street E. was officially named Hubbard Park. This summer, Bennett is organizing a historical walking tour from Hubbard's former residence on Broadview to the park, which will be lead by fellow east ender Marie Wilson, who initiated the campaign to name the green space after him.

"As a parent, I want my kids to understand that there are people that look like them that were around, that were here, that came before," Bennett said.

"They were fighting the good fight back then."

The tour is part of a series of Black history walking tours that Bennett will be hosting this summer to coincide with Emancipation Day in August, called #HearThis. This week, he was awarded a $1,000 grant from the charities Toronto Foundation and Volunteer Toronto to organize the walks.

He will also be digitizing the routes so people can do them on their own time.

An old photo of an elderly man in a suit.

"This entire project is about amplification," Bennett said. "I don't know everything about all the history within this neighborhood and within this community, but I want people to start digging."

Park named after Hubbard in 2016

In the contest to name the park nearly a decade ago, Wilson put up flyers and approached people in the neighbourhood to tell them who Hubbard was and why they should vote for him. She learned of Hubbard from the plaque in front of his former home.

"I'm not only fascinated by history, but by forgotten history and the forgotten people in history," she said. "I think that Hubbard fell into that category. I know that there are some people who know of him and did back then, but in a big way, I don't think he was known."

At the time of the park's unveiling, Hubbard's great-granddaughter Lorraine Hubbard said it was the first, permanent public recognition of his contributions to the city.

A woman stands at the left side of the frame and a man stands at the right, they are in front of a sign that says Hubbard Park.

Aside from the fact that he was the city's first Black politician, who always stood up for the underdog, she said her favourite fact about Hubbard was that he baked himself a birthday cake every year.

Hubbard was born near Bathurst and Bloor streets, after his parents escaped enslavement in America. But he didn't begin his political career until he was in his 50s, after working as a baker and cab driver.

He was elected in his second attempt in one of the wealthiest and whitest wards in Toronto, which spanned University Avenue to Bathurst Street. He was reelected 14 times.

Hubbard faced and fought racism

When others wanted them privatized, Hubbard helped keep Toronto's hydroelectric and water systems public utilities, which led to the creation of Toronto Hydro. He was also part of the city's Board of Control, a powerful four-member group at the city's executive level that advised the mayor on municipal spending.

Wilson said he was also an instrumental player in the creation of High Park.

"He was a champion of the underdog and he just felt that the poor people, the disenfranchised, needed what we now call green space," she said.

  • New park honours groundbreaking black Toronto politician William Peyton Hubbard

While breaking barriers, Heritage Toronto's website says Hubbard defended other marginalized groups, such as the city's Chinese and Jewish communities, from discrimination and violence.

But being a Black man at the turn of the century, he had his own experiences of racial abuse from city councillors from other cities, Heritage Toronto says. When conducting business outside the city, he was sometimes required to carry character reference letters from the mayor.

Bennett hopes that through the tour, he can provide a context of the Black history found in Toronto's east end.

"It's kind of cool to be living where we do and to know that history is around you and it's literally outside of your front door," he said.

2024 Masters leaderboard, winner: Scottie Scheffler's patience begets second green jacket in three years

Scheffler displayed a disciplined approach that, combined with extraordinary ball striking, turned sunday into an epic coronation at augusta national golf club.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Three straight birdies at the turn made the inevitable reality as Scottie Scheffler pulled away from a packed leaderboard at the 2024 Masters to become the 10th man in history to claim two green jackets in a three-year span. The 27-year-old Scheffler, spending his 82nd straight week as the No. 1 golfer in the world, left no doubt Sunday that what was already known is indeed true: every golf tournament he plays goes through him.

Scheffler finished 11 under -- four strokes clear of the field -- after entering the 88th playing of the Masters as an overwhelming favorite. He did nothing to dissuade his supporters over the first three rounds, either leading or staying within a single stroke after 18, 36 and 54 holes entering Sunday's finale.

Once a two-stroke lead after three holes became a four-way tie entering the turn Sunday, Scheffler flipped a switch and never looked back. He added to that three-birdie stretch from Nos. 8-10 by scoring three more on the 13th, 14th and 16th to keep Ludvig Åberg (-7) -- finishing second while playing in his first career major championship -- at arm's length.

"It's a difficult golf course to close out a win on," Scheffler explained. "You can't play overly defensive. ... You have to play to the correct spot and hit really good golf shots. I did that to the best of my abilities today and was fortunately able to hit some really key shots and make some nice birdies there on the back nine. Really, from hole 8 on, I played really, really nice golf."

Scheffler on Sunday became the 18th man to win two Masters and the first to do so over a three-year span since Bubba Watson (2012, 2014). He is also the fourth-youngest two-time Masters champion and the eighth golfer to win the first two major championships of his career at Augusta National.

With the 2024 tournament being his fifth Masters appearance, Scheffler is the second-fastest to have green jackets take up two hangers in his closet, the quickest to the achievement in 88 years (Horton Smith, third appearance, 1936).

Despite how simple Scheffler can make the game look, this Masters was anything but easy for the top name in the game. His iron play wasn't at his usually excellent level for most of the week, his tenor was tested plenty -- his pregnant wife and best friend not by his side like usual , instead at home days or weeks away from giving labor -- but when the correct shots in the correct moments were called upon, Scheffler answered.

Fighting his swing early on Sunday, Scheffler found himself in a dog fight with Åberg, Collin Morikawa and Max Homa all nipping at his heels. Scrambling saves were required to maintain his lead as he missed greens both short and long.

An uneasy feeling, Scheffler's short game took matters into its own hands. At its best when the tournament is often its tensest, his soft touch produced a stunner on the third from the bunker for his first birdie of the day.

His pursuers purred and had their moments, though. Åberg turned in 33 to touch the lead, Morikawa answered a Scheffler birdie on No. 8 with one of his own, and Homa lashed a mighty approach into 10.

The peloton was formed with 10 holes to play, and the thought of four of the best players in the world jostling through the second nine at Augusta National on Sunday raced through the minds of many. Unfortunately his peers, Scheffler raced away from the three-player pile up.

First, it was Morikawa who couldn't keep up as the two-time major champion needed two from the greenside bunker on No. 9 and ultimately carded a double bogey. Another followed on the 11th when his second found a watery grave.

Åberg had crashed just before them with the same fatal mistake. The Masters rookie battled back, it was too little too late. He ultimately became the third debutant in the last five years to finish runner-up.

Homa stood as Scheffler's last real threat as he sent a prayer into the air on Amen Corner's treacherous par-3 12th. It wasn't answered as Homa's ball traveled a yard too long, took a firm bounce and found a bush. Another double bogey ensued.

From a pack of four, only Scheffler was left standing.

While others took the bait and got greedy, Scheffler displayed discipline. While others tried to tame a brutally difficult Augusta National, Scheffler stayed patient. While others' emotions got the best of them, Scheffler remained calm.

Scheffler's superpower, his mental game, shined through when it mattered most. His ball striking gets praised and his short game is respected, but Scheffler's greatest strength has nothing to do with the club in his hand and everything to do with the mind of the person wielding it. The one now donning a second green jacket in three years.

Youngest two-time Masters champions

2024 masters leaderboard breakdown.

2. Ludvig Åberg (-7): After starting his Masters career with a 73, Åberg fired three straight under-par rounds including the only one in the 60s on Friday. A member of the penultimate pairing on Sunday, the Masters rookie felt it on the greens early. He curled in a ticklish birdie on No. 2 and another on No. 9 to head into the second nine with a share of the lead. Getting too aggressive down the hill into the 11th green, the young Swede's approach found the water and led to a double bogey -- his only dropped shots of the day. Åberg bounced back with two birdies over his next three holes to apply a smidge of pressure on Scheffler, but by then, the damage was done. The major debutant will learn from this mistake and be better for it. For now, he'll have to settle for a solo second.

T3. Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood (-4): Both Morikawa and Homa looked strong early. The two-time major champion did not miss a single approach shot across his first eight holes but was unable to connect on the greens. He stood square with Scheffler through this stretch of the golf course, but greed got the best of him on No. 9 when he tried to get too much out of his approach ultimately leading to the first of two double bogeys in a three-hole stretch.

Meanwhile, Homa was a surgeron around Augusta National. Picking and choosing his spots with care, the 33-year-old's birdie on the long 10th meant he had jumped into a share of the lead. He may have been too cautious when all is said is done as he erred long on the 12th, which led to his double bogey and refused to hit driver on the par-5 13th electing to play it as a three-shot hole. Still, it represents Homa's best major result and the return of major Morikawa.

"Greed got the best of me," Morikawa said. "Nine, can't miss it over there and can't leave it in the bunker. Eleven, just tried to hit too perfect of a shot. It's not like at that point I was trying to press. I knew where I stood. Yeah, it's just can't do that. In the past, I haven't done it, but kind of where the game's at. You kind of find your little stride. We put a lot of pieces of the puzzle together this week, but after watching Scottie this week, I know what to do if I really want to close this gap on what he's doing and how impressive he's playing."

T6. Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau (-2): After shooting the round of the tournament (65) on Thursday, DeChambeau carded three straight over-par rounds. The former U.S. Open champion fared well in the difficult conditions on Friday, but he lost his touch on the greens over the weekend. Remaining patient for the first half of the tournament, his aggression got the better of him late on Saturday and sunk his Masters chances. He fought back nicely with his hole-out on 18 in Round 3 and a couple birdies in the middle of his first nine on Sunday, but it was all for not. DeChambeau's T6 is his first finish inside the top 20 in his Masters career.

Take it in, Scottie Scheffler!

That is his sixth birdie in his last nine holes. Scheffler tacks one on 16 and his lead is four with two holes to play. The green jacket might as well be his.

3 up 3 to go

Scottie Scheffler makes par on No. 15 to remain at 10 under and three clear of Ludvig Aberg. Three pars should secure him his second Masters title in three years.

Scheffler birdies 14

He is up three with four to go. He taps in his fifth birdie in the last seven holes and now heads to the par-5 15th. Aberg was unable to go for the green in two after a wayward drive and needs to put a wedge close.

Aberg keeps fighting

The young Swede has rattled off two straight birdies to get within two of Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 1 just made birdie on 13 to get to 9 under. It looks like it will come down to these two as Max Homa sits four adrift at 5 under with only four holes to play.

Gorky Park and Sparrow Hills: Green Lungs, place to relax and meet

green day riverdale's tour

Gorky Park and Sparrow Hills

The history of the gorky.

The park was built in Soviet times between the two world wars and named after the author Maxim Gorky at the time. Up until the turn of the century, the area not far from the center was only a residential area with huge estates and then, in the turmoil of the civil war and shortly afterwards, served as an illegal landfill where citizens and entrepreneurs disposed of their garbage. After intensive cleaning in the early communist years, the site was first used as an agricultural exhibition in the mid-1920s until the Moscow City Council decided to set up a park here that was accessible to all citizens of Moscow. After all, this was supposed to take a full ten years of construction. Throughout the entire Soviet period, the park was incredibly popular and familiar to every Soviet citizen, whether from Moscow or not.

Rebirth after basic renovation

However, after the end of the Soviet Union, the area fell into disrepair – cheap hustle and bustle like shooting booths and slowly rusting rides shaped the sad picture. Only outsiders got lost in the park, which lived more from its reputation than from the sad reality. Only with the fundamental and just as expensive renovation in 2011 did the Gorky become the park it was once loved by the locals. Especially the promenade along the river with its large sunbathing areas in summer and the numerous ice rinks for ice skating in winter now attract thousands of locals to Gorky every day. Countless food and café stands scattered across the site provide visitors with everything imaginable – from Georgian delicacies, a decent café to traditional Russian kvass, or ice cream and smoothies in summer.

Concerts, art and privacy place

Even bigger crowd pullers are just the concerts in the park and these have a long tradition here. In 2018 alone, David Guetta, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Killers and Lana del Rey performed numerous international music greats Open Air. But even outside the big events there is always something to see in the Gorky. The modern art center “Garage” (website https://garagemca.org/en ) in the park holds regular art and design exhibitions. In addition, the art center gave the park the largest children’s playground in all of Russia for its 90th birthday in 2018. Numerous play equipment, including 29 different swings alone, are the perfect place to spend a few hours with the youngsters. Pedal boats can also be rented at several locations in the park, for example at the Andreevsky ponds, which is also suitable for children. Sports courses for adults are held regularly in the park. From jogging to yoga or Pilates there are organized courses – beach volleyball fields, soccer fields and an open air fitness studio offer further opportunities to do sports. Afterwards, beer gardens invite you to linger – all of this happens primarily in the central part of Gorky Park, known as the Neskuchny Garden. Would you like to experience Gorky Park and the magic of Moscow by yourself? Then you need a visa first – you can find out how to get it here !

Away from the central part: Muzeon and Sparrow Hills

In the section called Muzeon north of the Crimean Bridge there are over 1000 statues, Soviet monuments and modern art facilities. This open-air museum-like section of the Gorky invites you to take a walk that takes you past oversized and pompous Soviet busts as well as avant-garde art objects of the 21st century. Surrounded by statues of Lenin, this section looks partly surreal. The Stalin statue in particular, which had its nose removed, magically attracts visitors. For photographers, the sometimes slightly rusty busts and remains from the Soviet era offer great motifs. If you’d like to improve yourself as a promising photographer, you can even take a photography course in the park at Photoplay ( https://photoplay.ru/courses/workshop/photoplayatgorky.html ) At 2900 rubles, i.e. just under $ 41, this is significantly more affordable than comparable products in Asia or Australia. No wonder this section is considered an Instagram paradise for Moscow’s exploding hipster scene. Events are also held time and again in the Muzeon – for example, the warm months over and over here are held cinema screenings outdoors. Russian classics such as international cinema are shown. You have absolute peace in the Sparrow Hills, which also belong to the park but are spatially separated from the other part. About four kilometers further along the Moskva River out of town is this section of the Gorky Park, which is largely natural. There, just opposite the large Luzhniki Stadium on the other side of the Moskva River, where the Olympics and the World Cup finals have already taken place, there is another privacy place in the middle of Moscow. At the highest point of the Sparrow Hills, to which a cable car leads, you have a fantastic view of Moscow.
