The Lowdown

The ProForm PFEX39421-INT TDF CBC (a catchy title!) is a mid to high budget bike boasting near silent magnetic resistance, iFit program system, 10kg flywheel and auto tension control. This definitely puts it in the category for serious workout and cycling enthusiasts.

First Impressions

As a bike that sits in the mid-high bracket of budget, there isn’t a lot, but in many ways that is the point. What is provided is very high quality, with the main purpose of the bike created to give a near perfect replica experience of cycling on a road bike, but in the comfort of your own home.

It weighs in at around 45Kg’s and the frame can comfortably hold a rider over 18 Stone in weight. The finish is excellent, none of the thin, heavily welded cheap frames you get on a budget exercise bike. This is a sturdy, robust, solid piece of machinery that instantly gives the feeling of quality.

  • Max user weight 115kg
  • iFit program system
  • Auto tension control
  • Full console feedback
  • Near silent while in use
  • Slightly heavy to move around
  • Requires self-assembly

ProForm PFEX39421-INT TDF CBC Exercise Bike Review

You will be pleased to know that the majority of the bike comes pre-assembled, phew! Although I was a little worried while reading the instruction booklet that they recommend having a rubber mallet handy.

I am pleased to say that the main bulk of the bike comes complete, and it is only required to screw the main body to the base. The remaining fiddly bit is fixing the handle bars to the base unit and having to feed the sensor wires through and connect them up. This is typical with almost every bike that we have reviewed.

Overall, I was able to put the bike together by myself, and it only took around an hour and 15 minutes. Remember this isn’t a race, I would much rather you spend extra time making sure everything is correct, as it can save massive headaches in the future if faults occur.

Performance:

Magnetic resistance for ProForm PFEX39421 INT Exercise Bike

First point, I am pleased to announce that they are correct in terms of the ride, design and feel while in use. It is extremely quiet when in operation. This is typical with many magnetic resistance systems that are more on the expensive side.

Inclusion of a 10Kg flywheel really does suit this bike. Cheaper models that feature a 6 or 8Kg flywheel lack that little bit of quality that is hard to put into words. Like a bike that is in too high a gear every time you start to turn the pedals. Heavier flywheels like the one included also give a much smoother ride, closer to a real life road bike.

A reminder that this is a bike that is best suited to a cycling enthusiast who is looking for a great way to work out when they are time or weather restricted. Maybe you have previously owned or currently use a road bike and want to replicate the experience while in your home? It’s a great way to jump on, have a great workout without having to change into the right gear, get your bike ready or leave to ride on the roads in the rain or cold weather.

A question by many may be, why would you buy this bike over a more traditional exercise bike? Many, including myself, enjoy a riding session (even more with the iFit workout program) with a road bike feel, it has the added benefit of being closer to a spin bike in design. This means that you will typically burn more calories over a shorter period.

Women using ProForm PFEX39421 INT Exercise Bike

This is a difficult one, road bike cyclists will already know that a streamline saddle is a traditional part of the bike. As a road bike user myself, this comes naturally after about 1-2 weeks of use. This isn’t something that we would recommend for a person who wants a more leisurely exercise bike at home, they may disagree with this type of saddle and see it as a design flaw and hugely uncomfortable.

Although we didn’t test this ourselves, it seems a typical bike seat connection, allowing you to shop for any bike seat and make a change if you really wanted too.

You cannot fault the great design, with almost every part of the bike saddle and handle bars being adjustable for any rider who doesn’t fall into the extremes of height limitations. We were able to adjust the bike to an ideal ride in no time at all.

Things we really liked:

The iFit system included allow you to follow a huge library of programs to give you a great variety of workouts.

Mounted brackets for your tablet holder are placed out and in front. Typically, these can be too close on other bikes and make for uncomfortable viewing.

The handlebar design allows for more than 5 different hand grips. This is great for riders who may prefer different hand positions during their ride.

Final thoughts on the ProForm PFEX39421-INT TDF CBC

I am going to admit, this is one of the most difficult bikes to give a summary and score. On the one hand, if you enjoy cycling using a more traditional road bike, then this has to be close to the top of your list. Plus, it’s on offer right now and at a great price. You will also get great value from the iFit system that will provide some stunning ride programs for you to follow.

If you are looking for an exercise bike that is going to give you a more casual experience, with a typically lower average heart rate BPM and you want to stay in that fat burning over cardio workout zone, then we cannot recommend this bike.

The Tour de France branding isn’t a gimmick to sell the bike, it should act as a marker for if you think you will get the most out of this piece of equipment. I seriously enjoyed my time with the bike, and it would comfortably sit in the corner of my spare room ready for regular use. As I type this is it is almost winter in the UK, with the sunset being at around 4:30. This bike offers me a safe and quick way to have a workout in the comfort of my own home.

In particular, users can integrate with the iFit application, the virtual reality cycling mode, giving the feeling that you are cycling along the colorful roads according to Google Map.

Proform Tour de France detailed reviews

What are the criteria that help the Tour de France bike be evaluated as one of the best indoor cycling models today? Let’s go into the detailed reviews of this product before making your shopping decision.

Product structures

One of the most important features of fitness equipment is its chassis or frameworks. Since this is a heavy indoor bike design, the more demanding the frame is to have outstanding construction and durability.

The reason is that a sturdy and high-quality chassis makes the indoor bike strong and cycling more efficient. That is why the manufacturer has focused on making the frames for Tour de France spinning bikes from the best steel. This framework allows users to maximize their strengths and limit obstacles in practice.

Bike flywheel or free-flywheel

With indoor exercise bicycles, the flywheel is an essential part that makes up the bike’s outstanding performance. The flywheel or freewheel directly affects the quality and intensity of the user’s exercise.

Most cycling enthusiasts are familiar with flywheel information. So what is a flywheel or a free flywheel? Why is it so crucial in the construction of a fitness bike?

The freewheel is not a normal part of a bicycle; it has the feature of continuing to spin even when the user has stopped riding their bike. This free flywheel system allows the power to be transferred from the pedal to the wheel. That helps the bike accelerate faster and better catch speed. Besides, this unit also allows users to feel like cycling for long distances.

Pedal of the product

The plus point of this bike is that the pedal provides maximum stability for cycling. Users can freely adjust the bike style they desire. There are two popular cycling styles on Tour de France , including the toe pedal and the pedal. However, according to customer reviews, the toe cage pedal offers a better safety and stability experience while riding a bike.

Resistance on exercise

Rotating bicycle resistance is a type of magnetic resistance. You can quickly grasp the operating rules of this type of resistance. This device uses magnets around the wheel to increase or decrease drag. Resistance is an essential factor for fitness equipment, including indoor bicycles.

The purpose of this bike is to help improve the health and keep fit for the user – usually professional athletes or coaches or sports enthusiasts – so they demand exercise more advanced than the general person. Therefore, the resistance also needs to be greater than regular bicycles.

Along with the anti-magnetic system, the Tour deFrance training bike is equipped with 24 variable resistance levels. Plus, the 24 gears in this bike allow you to use drag effectively. The kits are operated by a hand-controlled gear shift while riding.

Wind resistance part

The bike provides wind resistance similar to that of a bike ride on the street. The drag is calculated based on your height and weight, thereby giving a suitable resistance.

Handlebar shifters

You know, a gym bike has gears just like you would on a sports bike. That allows you to change the flywheel of your bike. There are two shift levers on the bike handlebar, and you can make this change quickly. The gear lever on the left is used to change the left track’s drag, and the right gear lever changes the resistance of the rear resistance.

iFit App Technology

This Tour de France is equipped with iFit technology supported by Google Maps. iFit, combined with Google Maps, will give users a real feeling of driving anywhere. You can set up your custom route at any end of the world and start your cycling journey.

Also, the cycling experience will be enhanced with pre-programmed routes from the Tour De France 2012 event. You will have more flexibility when running fitness courses with 24 available mapped courses.

Cycling inclination

There is a 20% inclination and 20% declination system in this Tour de France spinning bike . That allows the bike to simulate real-world environments on its own from Google. You feel every turn, uphill, downhill, or even holes in the road surface like cycling.

This bike comes with a multi-function control panel and is easy to use.

The display provides time, distance, power, revs per minute, heart rate, gears, inclination, declination, and calories burned during exercise.

Besides, users can search for more controls and other readings on the dashboard of the bike.

In addition to the essential features mentioned above, there are a few features in this Tour de France bikes that don’t affect your performance but still need to be mentioned.

  • Integrated intermix audio system with iPod port or MP3 player
  • The screen provides a satellite view from Google Maps
  • Water bottle compartment Two small transport wheels in front of the bike

Warranty & guarantee of le Tour de France bike

Tour de France stationary bike comes with a lifetime frame warranty, three-year parts warranty, and one-year labor warranty.

Shopping guides

There are a few considerations to consider when buying an expensive gym exercise machine.

First, you have to check the product carefully. Make sure your bike is fully stocked. Then, fit the bike’s pedals. Some customer reviews complain about the pedal not being as firm as it describes the product.

The training effectiveness of a Tour de France training bike is directly related to the Wi-Fi connectivity. Make sure there’s no trouble with this bike’s Wi-Fi connection if you don’t want your bike to turn into a standard bike.

What’s the Real Deal on the Proform TDF CSC Exercise Bike?

proform tour de france cbc bike review

The Proform TDF CSC bike is one of the latest, super-affordable models.

It helps you get a more realistic workout with a full-color touch screen and streaming cycling programs.

But in a market that’s already oversaturated with streaming programs, cycling bikes and online tracking options, how does it really stack up?

This post will go over the key pros and cons of the Proform TDF CSC exercise bike to help you decide.

Let’s start with the specs:

Basic Facts:

Price: $899 + Free Shipping

22 Resistance Levels

iFit Compatible

Device Dock with Console Speakers

User Weight Capacity: 250 lbs

Screen Size: 7 inches

Pros of the Proform TDF CSC Bike:

Full-Color, HD Touch-screen

The console screen measures 7-inches across and comes in HD, full-color glory. See your stats with a swipe of your finger.

There are quick-change resistance buttons on the bottom of the console as well as a port for your devices. You can play your favorite workout music through the console speakers as you ride.

proform tour de france cbc bike review

Ride World Trails with iFit

iFIt is Proform’s online streaming service. You connect through the console using the Wifi in your home. From there you can ride famous world trails or even map out your own with the Googlemaps feature.

You’ll see the scenery pass you by in the screen as you ride for a more virtual reality style feel.

Don’t want to explore the world? Choose from thousands of streaming – or even live – cycling classes.

The trainer can actually control the bike’s resistance for you during the class for a more hands-free experience.

Adjustable Seat and Handlebars

The handlebars are molded for comfort and you can quickly adjust them up or down to the most comfortable fit for you.

The seat is also adjustable forward, back, up or down (within a limited range).

The pedals on this bike come with toe cages and straps to help keep you feet in place without slipping during your workout.

proform tour de france cbc bike review

Free 3-pound Handweights

As of this writing you can currently get a free pair of 3-pound dumbbells included with your purchase. So you can add some light upper-body training as you ride.

The weights fit easily into the back wire shelf behind the seat for easy storage.

Cons of the Proform TDF CSC Bike:

The Proform TDF (Tour De France) bikes used to stand out because these were the only bikes where you could ride sections of the Tour De France and watch on your screen like you were really there. But this is no longer the case.

With iFit specialty world rides being added to pretty much every Proform bike now, the TDF bikes have kind of lost their unique advantage. So there’s not really any point to putting the TDF label in the name – except to capitilize on the popularity this bike had years ago. Basically don’t buy this bike for the name – buy it because it’s an affordable studio bike with some nice perks to it that interest you.

While you don’t need a paid iFit subscription to use this bike (there’s a free version of iFit you can use), you won’t get all of the benefits of iFit – like the live classes or world trail rides – if you don’t have the monthly subscription.

Smaller Console Window

The console window is a bit small, especially when you compare it to the Proform Studio Bike Pro models (with up to 22-inch screens). It’s still good considering the price point. But you might miss out on some of the details of the iFit trails with the smaller screen.

proform tour de france cbc bike review

Bottom Line?

As stated above, the TDF name on a bike used to mean the bike had something special to it (like Tour De France races). But this isn’t really the case anymore. There’s nothing wrong with putting the name on the bike – just don’t buy the bike for the name.

At the end of the day this is an affordable starter studio bike with a few nice perks to it – like the streaming classes and world trail rides of iFit.

If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s worth checking out.

How To Save

You can buy the Proform CSC TDF bike on sale directly from the Manufacturer here . You can see the latest user reviews and (as of this writing) get Free Shipping to your home.

Costco Proform Bike, CBC Studio Cycle Exercise Spin

proform tour de france cbc bike review

It looks like Costco is getting into the home fitness market. I don’t think I’ve seen a spin bike at Costco, so this is a first for me. Scroll for photos. This is the Proform Tour De France CBC Studio Cycle Spin Bike. For those of you who don’t have spin bike, I can’t recommend them enough! We are Peloton owners, so we love our spin bike. This is a much more affordable option, because the Peloton is currently $1,895, while this is only $384.99. This also comes with a 1 year iFit membership. Considering the Peloton membership is $40 a month, you will pay $2,375+ for the first year of Peloton, while only paying $384.99 for this. If you’re new to riding a spin bike or you want to give the home-based classes a try, this may be the best bet for getting started. Here are a few more details about this Costco Proform Bike……

  • 1-Year iFit® Coach Membership Included with Large Window LCD Display
  • Commercial Grade Welded Steel Frame with Corrosion Resistance
  • Digital Smart Resistance 1-16
  • Front Mounted Wheels
  • Full Seat and Handle Adjustability
  • Includes Two 3 Lb. Dumbbells
  • Model Number: PFEX39420 or PFEX39420.0
  • Download Manual: ProForm Tour De France CBC Studio Cycle

Costco Proform Bike, Spin Bike, Exercise Bike

This is a tough one for me because I love the Peloton. But this product costs around 80% less than the Peloton. Some people say, you get what you pay for, but if you’re not looking for the absolute gold standard, this may work perfect for you. I read through some of the reviews on Costco. Many complained about the software & linking to an iPad. The quality of the bike itself seemed to be good, so know that you can still get a great workout. I will always recommend the Peloton, but I can see this product being a perfect fit for those who don’t need all the bells & whistles. Again, you can always rely on Costco’s return policy if you are not happy with this product. If you want to check out some great spin bikes on Amazon, make sure to check these out……

looks like same product is available for 299. Could you please if it is same produce or not?

https://www.costco.com/proform-tour-de-france-cbc-interactive-indoor-cycle-with-1-year-ifit-membership-included-%E2%80%93-assembly-required.product.100759782.html

I think I saw this same bike on discount at my local Costco too. Yes. It is the same exact product. Costco usually gets a specific model made for them on a lot of products.

After several months of use one of the crank retainer pins broke. I removed the belt in the repair process only to discover that due to what looks like a design error it is virtually impossible to reseat the belt on the bike. I still have not encountered a solution and support only provides a help video for a different model entirely. No wonder they are desperately trying to sell this model off ASAP. The belt tensioner is not the issue.

Well that’s unfortunate Alden. Sorry to hear about that. You would think that ProForm would try to help you through the repair process, especially if you’re willing to do it yourself. I wonder if this is where they cut costs to make this specific model for Costco (like they do with a lot of other products). Are you going to end up returning it? Seems like that may be the only option

I didn’t take it apart. The magnet is completely visible. After after a little over 3 months, I finally received a replacement magnet assembly, but it is also missing 1 magnet. I’m hoping I can return unit to Costco and be done. This is terrible.

Sorry to hear for the bad experience Mike. It seems like there are a few people who didn’t like the product & some who did. It’s unfortunate because this is a GREAT price for a rowing machine. I’m sure you can return it without issue. Sorry to hear about this hassle. Are you going to go with a different machine?

Do not purchase the Proform Tour de France CBC, or any other Proform. About a month after I purchased it, I discovered the resistance magnet assembly was missing one of the magnets (it had 3 instead of 4). I contacted Proform support and they ordered the part. Over 2 months later, still no part, I contacted them about ever 2 weeks and they keep saying it is on back order. All the while, they keep shipping new bikes to the store.

That seems like a pretty significant quality control issue. What made you take it apart? Were you having issues with the resistance? Sorry to hear about the Delay with ProForm. It seems like such a simple part to have in stock. Let me know how it works out…

What version is this?

The model number is PFEX39420 or PFEX39420.0. It is the ProForm Tour De France CB Studio Cycle. I hope that helps

It might be an issue. The gap between the handle bar and seat is 17.5 inches that’s 1 inch more than the Pelton. My old bike adjust to 15.5 inches. My wife is 5’2″ and must lean forward and is not comfortable. She’s new at spinning.

Ya, that could very well be an issue. I am tall & my wife is short (6’5 vs 5’4) so we REALLY like the Peloton feature that allows the seat to slide back & forth. She slides it all the way to the front while I slide it almost all the way back. Thanks for providing those measurements. I hope it works out

I’m 5’2″ and new to spinning. Thinking of getting this bike but am concerned about the reach from the seat and handle bars. Thoughts?

As you can see the seat can go up/down & slide forward/backward. I think you will be fine. My wife is 5’4 (I realize that is 2 inches taller) & she has no problem on our spin bike. This all depends on how tall/short your legs are. I know all bikes are different, but this should be able to accommodate you. See if they still have a display setup in store & you can try it before you buy. Hope that helps

none in WPB, FL

Sorry to hear. Keep an eye out though. They just hit the floor with a new studio in door cycle. It’s called Inspire Fitness IC1.5 Indoor Cycle. Click the link to view the post . You may see these in your local store soon. Hope that helps!

I saw it in the box at my local Costco tonight. Why haven’t you posted a pic of it all set up? I’m sure we’d all like to see what it looks like set up. Do the pedals also have toe clip-ins? I read in another post that using a tablet in the holder blocks the console that controls the resistance, etc. Is that the case?

Thanks for the comment Brooklyn. As mentioned above, I currently have a Peloton setup. I don’t own the ProForm. According to the manual, you can change to your own pedals without issue. You would just need to make sure the threads/screw fit. That would allow you to have clip in shoes. I’ll check on the console next time I go to Costco. They usually have a display setup.

Does the bike have a manual mode so-to-speak, so you can use it without a subscription after the 1 year even without a “program”?

Yes, this bike does have manual mode. The directions are as follows……. 1. Begin pedaling or press any button on the console to turn on the console. 2. Change the resistance of the pedals as desired. 3. Follow your progress with the display.

You can select from the options of Modes: Speed, pulse, calories, resistance, RPM, time, and distance. Hope that helps!

It’s been sold out for over a month here in NV : (

I just saw it yesterday at my local Costco. They have been in & out of stock for a couple months now, but I regularly see them. If you’re really interested in one you can see which Costco’s around you still have them in stock. It may be worth the drive. Hope you find one!

They had 16 left in Carson city until we bought one today. Two were sold before that while thought about it.

Glad you were able to get one. I’ve noticed the same thing each time they are in stock. They don’t seem to be in stock for very long. Hope you end up enjoying it! Let me know

I just bought this bike yesterday (2/10) at the Costco on Decatur and 215.

Yes. I am still seeing them in stock all over the Bay Area. No idea when they will stop selling them, but you never know with Costco. Hopefully you’re enjoying it!

Will this bike work for a 5′ person? Thanks.

It depends on how long your legs are. Everyone has different length legs and torso. It should work though. The seat does go down pretty low. If you can, go check it out in store. I consistently see the demo bike setup. Hope that helps

Has anyone bought a wider and padded saddle for this bike? Any comments on how comfortable the seat is?

I’ve seen this in person & sat on it in Costco. It is your standard spin bike seat. It’s small & firm. I am 6’5 200 pounds & the Peloton bike seat is very similar. It doesn’t bother me too much as I only do 30 – 45 minute classes at the most. I’m not sure how easy it would be to install a different seat, but if you’re handy I’m sure you can make it work. Hope that helps

I use a standard padded seat cover that I bought off Amazon and it certainly helps.

Thank Lois. Ya, the spin seats can be quite hard. It hasn’t bothered me yet since my bike rides are at most 45 minutes. That’s great to know though should my seat ever get uncomfortable. Thanks for the comment

Does it have magnetic resistance? Also what is the weight of the flywheel

Yes. This does have magnetic resistance. I am unsure as to the weight of the flywheel. It’s nowhere in the manual & they don’t give specifications on the replacement parts. I’ll email the company and get back to you. Thanks

Is there a difference between this bike and this one available at Sam’s? Sams: https://www.samsclub.com/p/proform-sport-cx-stationary-exercise-bike-w-dumbbells/prod25090547?xid=plp_product_1

Yes. That bike model number is PFEX33921 while this one is PFEX39420. You can see some of the subtle differences in the photos. The flywheels are different & Costco’s bike doesn’t come with the weight rack or weights. I’m sure there are many other differences, but you’d have to check with the manuals on both bikes. The weights & the weight rack is a nice addition. As long as the functionality of the bikes are similar the Sam’s Club one may be a better option. Thanks for posting that!

When the one year membership is up, do you HAVE to subscribe to a membership? Or are there any classes that just come with the bike that don’t require a subscription?

According to the manual there are no preset classes installed on the console. You would need to renew your subscription to the iFit membership. It’s unfortunate, because some of their other products come with a pre-installed 24 classes that you can take. Even old stair master’s I’ve been on have preset programs. The other thing you can do is just download some YouTube spin classes. I’m sure there are PLENTY out there for free & you can follow along. You won’t be able to track your statistics without a Smart Device, but you can see your output on the screen. You may even find you like the YouTube classes better.

This was located in the Bay Area, CA. They have them in store

Cycling inside of your home has never been this good. You’ll enjoy an interactive experience that engages your muscles, builds cardiovascular health and helps you stay fit.

ProForm revolutionises the at-home cycling industry, with key features designed to help you become the best version of yourself.

Key features include:

Interactive Fitness With iFit

Do you struggle to push your limits and design your own exercise plan? Many people do, but iFit and TDF 10.0 team up to provide personal trainer workouts right on your 10″ display.

You receive a year of iFit for free, and your trainer can even adjust your bike’s resistance remotely.

While you’re cycling and watching your trainer ascend a hill, your cycle’s incline adjusts so that you feel the burn, too. Interactive fitness is the key to remaining consistent with your workout routine.

You can cycle in the comfort of your own home, but you’ll still benefit from the guidance of a personal trainer.

LIVE interactive training also provides you with complete control over your workout. Don’t like a trainer or find a trail too hard to traverse? You can change videos with the tap of a screen.

In addition, there’s a vast library of interactive content that you can access at your fingertips.

Trainers are:

  • Live or on-demand
  • In control of your resistance

If you need someone to push you to your limits when you cycle, these trainers will help you reach your goals.

Crisp, 10″ High-Definition Display

Proform Tour de France 10.0

Users can watch their trainer on the built-in, 10-inch display with crisp HD video. The entire display is a touchscreen, so you can tap the screen to:

  • Change workouts
  • View workout stats
  • Adjust resistance

When you’re in the middle of a session, you can swipe through the numerous screens available to analyse your current workout stats. The stats that are accessible through the display are:

  • Calories burned

Use the interactive and advanced HD display to take control of your cycling session like never before.

100% Adjustability for Maximum Comfort

Everyone is different when it comes to size, shape and weight. You need to remain comfortable when cycling, and that’s why ProForm offers 100% adjustability. The ProForm TDF 10.0 allows you to take control of your comfort with:

  • Adjustable handlebars that move up or down
  • Incremental seat adjustments to match your height
  • Forward and back seat adjustments for short or long legs

Users of up to 125 kg can use the TDF 10.0, and don’t worry: your feet will stay firmly in place. Pedals come with their own toe cage and strap so that your feet remain on the pedals always.

The pedals are also interchangeable, so you can swap them out in the future if necessary.

Speaking of comfort, a long session of biking demands a quick pick-me-up.

Proform Tour de France 10.0

Dual water bottle holders are built into the frame. If your trainer has you reaching your limits, grab a drink of water or a protein shake to reenergize and stay hydrated. The dual water bottle holder is an excellent addition for long cycling sessions.

Resistance and Incline/Decline Control

Cycling on flat terrain is easy, but going uphill or downhill is a challenge. When your session is too easy, you’re not maximising your results. ProForm adds in two key features, along with their 24 built-in apps, to help you engage and build more muscle.

Silent Magnetic Resistance (SMR) takes the noise out of resistance, with quiet, reliable resistance during your session. SMR ensures that you never disturb people in your home, whether they’re sleeping, on their cell, or talking to their friends.

Magnetic resistance makes cycling more difficult, but it doesn’t help you feel immersed in the same ways that hills do.

ProForm adds:

  • Incline adjustments up to 20% to force you to engage more muscle fibres as you ascend hills
  • Decline adjustments as low as 10% to help mimic the experience of going downhill

When you’re in control and the cycling feels like being out on a trail or in the middle of the Tour de France, you become part of the action. The TDF 10.0 offers a realistic cycling experience that most stationary bikes fail to offer.

Pros and Cons of the ProForm Tour de France Exercise Bike

  • 20% incline and 10% decline options
  • iFit enabled to cycle alongside professionals
  • 24 built-in apps to keep you dedicated
  • Expensive – outside of a casual user’s budget

Our primary concern with the ProForm Tour de France 10.0 is that the price is outside many buyer’s budgets. You’ll spend more on the TDF 10.0, but you’ll also benefit from incline and decline options, advanced presets and iFit to keep you on track to reach your exercise goals.

Proform Tour de France 10.0

Final Thoughts

The ProForm Tour de France 10.0 goes head-to-head with the best cardio equipment in the world. Sturdy and well-built, you’ll enjoy years of use and be able to challenge yourself during every session.

Buyers receive one year of iFit for free, and adding in inclines and declines can even help elite athletes improve muscle mass and endurance.

ProForm’s TDF 10.0 is one of the best all-around cycles in the world. And when you’re done cycling, you can roll it into the corner with ease, thanks to the front-mounted transport wheels.

Main 5 benefits you’ll get training with this bit of kit

Woman on Proform CLC

#1 – Lose Weight and Burn Fat

Stationary bikes are a great way to burn calories and lose weight from the comfort of your home. Depending on the intensity of your training, you can burn more than  600 calories an hour.

The 16 levels of magnetic resistance allow users of any fitness level to challenge themselves and efficiently achieve their weight loss goals. In fact, Harvard health estimates that a 185 lbs person can burn over 800 calories an hour with vigorous stationary bike training, which is an impressive figure.

#2 – Physical Fitness and Heart Health

Cardiovascular workouts such as stationary bike training strengthen your heart, lungs, and muscles for improved fitness and health. Cardiovascular exercise has been proven to lower blood pressure, bad cholesterol, and regulate blood sugar levels. Stationary bicycle training can also improve your mood and improve your sleep.

#3 – Provides Low Impact Training With High-Calorie Burn

Stationary bicycles such as the Proform CLC offer a low impact cardio workout that strengthens your body and bones without excess impact and pressure on your joints. Training such as outdoor and treadmill running may put undue pressure on joints and bones due to the running action’s repetitive impact.

#4 – Motivation and fun training options

Long after that initial surge of motivation to hop on the new bike has waned, iFit will keep you coming back for more. There’s an absolute wealth of stashed online content to play around with, from classes to virtual ride-alongs. As well as some live classes, if you want to share a sweaty ride with others. It’s highly engaging stuff (albeit at a price once your free month has run out).

#5 – It’s kind to your joints

Stationary bikes deliver the calorie burn without unnecessary stress on your bones and joints. This advantage makes bikes like the CLC a safer training option for those beginning their fitness adventure or suffering from sports injuries in the past.

Who will get the most out of the Proform CLC?

Anyone looking to get back into shape.

The Proform CLC (or any decent upright bike!) is a brilliant way to really build up your fitness, lose weight and just get in shape overall. Riding alone is one way to do it but jumping into an online class definitely makes for easier work and takes your mind off what is, when it comes down to it, repetitive, hard work.

If you’re already short on space

The CLC has neat dimensions, which means it fits well into most sized homes without taking up valuable space.

If you get bored quickly!

Most people can relate to that big of exercise gear that gathers dust in the corner. The CLC will likely never sink to that status, thanks to it’s integration with iFit. It takes the tedium out of repetitive training by opening users up to the interactive experience of coach-led training and Google maps driven locations from all over the globe.

proform tour de france cbc bike review

Often people become bored and unmotivated in-home training apparatus because of the isolation and lack of stimulation. The CLC has full iFit integrations to bring the world into your home.

If you need something a bit quieter than other bikes

If you’re in an apartment or plan to get up before everyone else in your house, you’ll likely be tickled pink by how quiet this bike is. The magnetic resistance is well implemented here and won’t wake anyone else up unless you forget to plug your headphone in.

The CLC’s controls mimic a real road bike’s shifters and are placed on the left and right handlebars for enhanced realism in your training.

Who might want to avoid this bike?

Anyone over 115kg is out.

Due to the weight restrictions of 115kgs (253.5lbs), the Proform CLC is not suited for larger riders due to the manufacturer’s specifications. The 10 kg flywheel delivers impressive resistance but may not suit professional riders seeking maximum intensity training.

Opinion: What We Liked About the Proform CLC

It has to be said, this is one of the better-looking bikes we’ve seen.

This one’s completely subjective, but it has to be said there’s a bit of flair about this bike. While this is a superficial point, you won’t want to scoot this bike out of the way in a hurry when friends come round.

The bold yellow flywheel proudly flys the Tour de France logo, and everything from the colours to the shape and design of the frame makes it a really good-looking option. Not like some of the drab run-of-the-mill bikes we’ve reviewed over the years.

A good quality bit of kit

Like NordicTrack, there’s no issue with the quality of this bike. Everything from the welding and bolts up to the saddle and buttons on the display are so far above what you’ll find on the budget bikes. For the price, the build quality and components are definitely above average and everything is chunky, solid and built to last.

Easy to Assemble and Adjust

Proform CLC Adjustments

The proform CLC is easy to assemble with straightforward instructions (for a change) that makes setup a breeze. Most people will have the kit up and running in just over 35 minutes, and the CLC integrates with iFit without any issues.

You’ve got the standard adjustments you’d expect to see; the seat adjusts on both vertical and horizontal axis, making it easy to adjust between users, so different users can find a setting that’s right for them. The bike looks like it’s been designed to be quickly adjusted between cyclists too – so it’s a good choice if you’re buying to share.

Comfortable over long periods

The ProForm CLC feels great too – with comfy, wide handlebars that you can grip and lie on a number of ways – at least three we could find.

Quiet and Compact

While this is not ‘silent’ operation, you’re not going to make any enemies in the early AM either. As mentioned earlier, the noise output is on the low side.

Great iFit Integration

Pro-form bike iFit

Unlike some home exercise apparatus, the Proform integrated with iFit seamlessly, and we loved the free one month membership. The CLC works excellent with my tablet, and you can incorporate your sound through their system if you wish. The realism of the CLC is what puts it ahead of its competitors, and it comes to life on simulated training and trails.

Suits a Variety of Fitness Levels

iFit Integration

The Proform CLC has 16 magnetic resistance levels on its realistic handlebar placed shifters to accommodate a variety of fitness levels. Due to stationary cycling’s low impact nature, the CLC is excellent for those building up their fitness slowly and those who seek challenging training.

What Could Have Been Better?

The lcd screen is sub par.

The 3.5″ LCD is tiny and pokey and brings down the whole look of the otherwise professional CLC. Even though it is tablet integrated, the small old fashioned screen is not an impressive feature of the bike.

Another little pet peeve is the tablet holder. It’s actually more of a phone holder and it would have been great to see this thing extended out to have a wider shelf for the large displays.

Pro cyclists might need something more challenging

The 10kg flywheel provides an excellent workout for those with moderate training needs, and it certainly provides a steady workout. For those lured in by the Tour de France training endorsement, it is not a bike for professional race training for cyclists who require the highest intensity training.

That being said, it has a good range for those who seek improved health and fitness.

Conclusion: Is the CLC bike any good?

The awesome-looking Proform CLC has some great features and an enhanced realism of true cycling action.

The bike works really well with the iFit app and provides excellent moderate-intensity home training.

The CLC is sturdy and compact and is an excellent choice for those seeking an interactive and fun way to cycle their way to that fitness goal from home.

If you’re looking for a sturdy, good quality indoor bike, there’s a lot to love about ProForm’s Tour de France.

Tour de France champ Vingegaard has collapsed lung after crash

Danish rider may not be able to defend his title.

Male cyclist raises his bike over his head in celebration of his winning the 110th Tour de France.

Social Sharing

Two-time defending Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard remained hospitalized in Spain a day after he broke his collarbone and several ribs in a bad crash with other top riders during the Tour of Basque Country.

The Danish rider's Visma-Lease A Bike team said Friday that further tests revealed the Vingegaard also suffered a collapsed lung and a pulmonary contusion. The team said that cycling's leading star was "stable and had a good night" but remains in a hospital in the northern Spanish city of Vitoria.

The accident comes less than three months before the start of the Tour on June 29 when Vingegaard is scheduled to to again face off against top rival Tadej Pogačar. That highly anticipated rematch is now in doubt.

  • More cycling coverage

Vingegaard was hardly moving as he was put in an ambulance wearing an oxygen mask and neck brace after the crash occurred on Thursday with less than 30 kilometres left in the race's fourth stage.

The pileup also took out cycling stars Primož Roglič and Remco Evenepoel.

Evenepoel, considered one of the favourites for the road race at the Paris Games, broke a collarbone and his right shoulder blade and was set to undergo surgery when he returns to Belgium on Friday, his Soudal Quick-Step team said.

The accident happened as riders were making what looked to be a conventional right-hand turn going downhill when one rider's front tire appeared to slip out and send other cyclists off the road. There were some large rocks and trees in the area, though it wasn't clear if any of the riders hit them. There was also a concrete drainage ditch place on the edge of the curve.

Roglič, a three-time Spanish Vuelta winner, emerged with just scratches but he did have to abandon the race he was leading.

Vingegaard was trying to defend the tittle he won last year at the six-day Tour of Basque Country.
