New music from Selena Gomez may soon be on its way. Speaking with Deadline for the outlet’s Crew Call podcast published on Tuesday (May 24), the “Lose You to Love Me” singer confirmed that she is currently in Los Angeles and working on an LP.

“I am in L.A. working on my album now,” the 29-year-old revealed when asked what’s on the horizon for her following season two of her hit Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building , on which she plays Mabel Mora . Gomez did not share any additional details on the future album’s release, which will serve as the follow-up to her 2020 album Rare , and her 2021 Spanish language EP, Revelación ; the albums peaked in the No. 1 and No. 22 spots on the Billboard 200 chart, respectively.

As for touring plans, Gomez is unsure of if she’ll be heading on the road to support the forthcoming album due to her busy schedule, though she is “open” to the possibility of a tour happening. “I’m open to a tour, one thousand percent, but I obviously have obligations and things I wanna do, so when the time’s right,” she explained on the podcast. “It’s not the top of my priority list.”

Gomez also teased that there’s the possibility of a musical number in Only Murders in the Building , in which she stars in alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short. When the interviewer suggested a cabaret musical number for the show, the actress said, “Steve and I are hesitant because I wanna be careful. I love Mabel, and I love that she is an extension of me, so sometimes my worry is that it might turn into a pop -star thing, and that’s clearly not Mabel,” she said. “I’m not opposed.”

Season two of Only Murders in the Building is set to premiere on Hulu June 28. Listen to Gomez talk about her album, touring and the show below.

Gotta keep an eye out for Selenerrrr! Selena Gomez is getting ready to release her new album SG3 and she's said that it will be her last ever project. Is Selena being serious though, and what else do we know about the record so far?

Following the release of her album Rare in 2020, Selena Gomez has been involved in a wide variety of successful projects. She's returned to TV with Only Murders in the Building , launched a cosmetics line, hosted a cooking show, put out a documentary, recorded a Spanish language EP and dominated the charts with multiple hit collaborations.

Now, Selena has opened up about when her highly-anticipated new album SG3 is dropping. With that in mind, here's everything we know so far about SG3 including the release date, tracklist, title, producers and so much more.

Is Selena Gomez releasing a new album?

When is Selena Gomez releasing SG3?

Fans of Selena Gomez will already know that she's been hard at work on her new album since 2021. In May of that year, she shared a photo of herself from in the studio wearing an "SG3" bracelet. In the time since, Selena's teased multiple glimpses of her recording music on social media with promises that it's coming but we may have to wait a little longer.

When Selena released her one-off song ' Single Soon ' in August 2023, she said: "Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer." She also told SiriusXM at the time, "We're nearly wrapping up the album."

However, Selena has now released a new song called 'Love On' and she's told Billboard that both 'Single Soon' and 'Love On' might not even be part of SG3. She said: "I would like to say that I am working towards an album, but I don’t know if those songs would be on that project."

Selena added: "I feel like I’m brewing and I’m in the process of really creating some great songs, hopefully. I don’t know if they would fit with what I’m gonna go with."

Elsewhere, Selena told Rolling Stone that she "hopes" the album will come out in 2024.

Will SG3 be Selena Gomez's last album?

In recent interviews, Selena has hinted that she will take a break from music after SG3. Speaking on the Smartless podcast in January 2024, Selena said: "I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting." When the hosts argued that Selena can do both, she said: "I am going to want to chill because I’m tired."

She added: "I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else. I don’t think I’m the best singer but I do know how to tell stories. I love being able to make songs."

Selena has since clarified with Rolling Stone : "I love film. I love TV. I just feel like I haven’t done a lot of the things that I want to do in that space. It’s not that it’s ‘no, never’ [to music], it’s more that I would like to explore that world a bit more."

Whether or not Selena does fully take a break from music after SG3 is yet to be seen.

Why does Selena Gomez call her fourth album SG3?

Selena has already released three solo studio albums, and that number increases to six if we include her projects as part of Selena Gomez and the Scene. So why is she calling her upcoming album SG3?

Well, fans will already know that Selena also called Rare SG2 and considers Revival her first album because it was her first project with full creative control.

Kiss & Tell , A Year Without Rain , When the Sun Goes Down and Stars Dance were all released with Selena's Disney label Hollywood Records and Selena had less input in them. So, while Selena still appreciates many songs from those four albums, she considers Revival to be her first project as an artist.

Who has Selena Gomez worked with on SG3?

As it stands, Selena has remained tight-lipped about who she's worked with on SG3. However, Justin Tranter posted a video of him in the studio with Selena and Julia Michaels in 2022. Justin and Julia have previously worked on huge Selena songs including 'Good for You', 'Hands to Myself', 'Bad Liar' and 'Lose You to Love Me'.

Elsewhere, it's possible that Selena's been in the studio with her boyfriend Benny Blanco ('Kill Em With Kindness', 'Same Old Love', 'Single Soon'). She's also been spotted working with Fred Again but it's unclear whether or not she's been working with him for his projects or her own album.

What is Selena Gomez's SG3 tracklist?

Selena Gomez is yet to reveal any of the song names for SG3 and it's possible that 'Single Soon' and 'Love On' will not be part of the album. Nevertheless, she has teased that the album is an uplifting and uptempo project.

Speaking on SiriusXM in August 2023, Selena said: "There's not one sad song on my album. I genuinely didn't have anything in me to write something negative. It just doesn't match where I'm at anymore."

What is SG3 called?

There is no word on the title of SG3 just yet. Selena's past three projects have all started with the letter R ( Revival , Rare , Revelación ). Whether or not she continues that pattern is yet to be seen. We will keep you posted with any updates.

While some people may dread turning 30, Selena Gomez says she's looking forward to celebrating her milestone birthday on July 22.

Telling People she's "excited" to turn the big 3-0, Gomez said, "I love growing up. When I was younger, I was scared of it, and I thought by now my life would look so different."

Now, the singer says, "I'm like, 'Wow, this is not what I ever expected, and I couldn't be more thrilled.'"

When Is Selena Gomez's New Album Coming Out?

The "Wolves" singer shared that progress is coming along in a June 13, 2023, Instagram post . It showed Selena in front of a microphone in a recording studio with the caption, "Don’t worry guys, it’s coming. Even from Paris," reassuring fans that she hasn't given up on her singing career. Its unclear when the completed album will drop, but at least Selena has let fans know that there will be a new LP coming at some point.

The news came as a wonderful surprise to those closest to Selena. Her good pal, retired tennis superstar Serena Williams , asked, " TELL US MORE!!!!!!!!!" in the comments, but sadly the songstress didn't respond. Selena's makeup artist Hung Vanngo excitedly wrote, " Yes!!!"

Selena revealed on Deadline 's  "Crew Call" podcast  in May 2022, "I am in L.A. working on my album now," even though more than a year later it is still a work in progress.

What Has Selena Gomez Said About Her New Music?

During a visit to The Tonight Show in December 2023, Selena said her new album is going to be far more upbeat than her past work . She told host Jimmy Fallon , "I'm just so used to writing sad girl songs because I'm good at that, but I'm ready to have some fun. And I think people are going to like it."

Why Has It Taken Selena Gomez So Long To Record a New Album?

She's a very busy woman! Selena took a break from music to star in Hulu's comedy-drama  Only Murders in the Building , which debuted in August 2021. Season 3 is set to premiere in August 2023. During her "Crew Call" appearance, she also noted, "I just finished Season 4 of my cooking show [Max's  Selena + Chef ]," as she was simultaneously working on her album.

Will Selena Gomez Go on Tour With Her New Album?

"I am open to a tour, 1,000 percent," she said on the "Crew Call" podcast. "But I obviously have obligations and things that I want to do, so, when the time's right. It's not the top of my priority list." Selena did not tour with Rare , as the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns began several months after the album's release.

When Did Selena Gomez Last Release an Album?

Selena released her first Spanish-language EP, Revelación , in March 2021. Her last full-length studio album, Rare , dropped in January 2020. It was filled with songs about heartbreak and recovering from broken relationships with singles such as "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now."
