Do not buy their health insurance... - Wizz Air

“do not buy their health insurance policy” review of wizz air.

Do not buy the health insurance policy offered when you purchase the ticket with Wizzair (flight Catania-Dubai). The price shown is misleading. Although they write that you can cancel it within 15 days with no fee, I did it but after 2 months I have not been refunded and even not received a single reply to my 6 emails sent to the insurance company. Wizzair should not partner with such unreliable health insurance company and suggest it when you puchase the ticket. I consider my financial loss also responsibility of Wizzair. A serious air company would not suggest unreliable health insurance companies to its clients.

I never had an eperience like this. I don't understand how this could be legal. Their website is full of traps waiting for you to fall in.

We recently booked a 7 days holiday in Tenerife. When booking with the travel agent went through all the usual parafanalia and we decided to go ahead with the booking and paid and selected our seats informing them we required airport assistance.because we are both disabled. As it was a weekend when were booking the holiday the agent advised us to ring the airline the day after to confirm the seats being aisle seats. When we contacted WIZZ AIR we were told we could not have those seats being passengers who required assistance and would have to sit at the back of the plane in a window seat,to which I told them I was unable because of my disabilities I would be unable to get into the window seat, and my wife would also have to do the same but could not guarantee where on the plane she would be, but in a window seat just the same .AGAIN I said I would not be able to get into the window seat their answer was if I could not get into the seat I would be off loaded. Not to say I cancelled the holiday but was refused my depositback. SO MY ADVICE IF YOU REQUIRE ASSISTANCE ON YOUR FLIGHT AVOID WIZZ AIR LIKE THE PLAGUE.

What a terrible flight experience, at all possible levels. First, check-in issues occurred online, apparently due to "website technical difficulties". It forced all passengers to queue up earlier than foreseen at the airport. Wasted time. Moreover, the crew surprisingly waited for the very last second before letting passengers to get on board, in a totally rushed and disorganized manner. Unbelievable. To make things even worse, there was no guidance whatsoever from any crew official when getting on board. This resulted in passengers being stuck standing in the middle or the plane's corridor for several minutes because they didn't know where to put their luggages. Unreal to witness such situations in Covid19 times. Trust me you better pay 10 or 20% more and get a decently organized company. Or just opt for another low-cost carrier instead. Oh. I almost forgot to mention. The flight was late on schedule, to crown it all. But does it even come as a surprise? Run away.

In all of my life, I have never experienced such poor service. Slow queues, high dis functionality, infants could run their operations. For my next destination I’d rather walk than fly with Wizz air. As a result TWO planes were grounded and switched about causing mass frustration from my fellow passengers and I. If your considering to choose Wizz air, I’d HIGHLY recommend that you choose another airline, shocking, never again. WASTE OF MONEY

Planning a vacation here’s your 2024 summer travel insurance guide.

The joy of a summer vacation. But do you have protection for your trip?

Planning a vacation this summer? Yeah, you and just about everyone else.

More than 9 out of 10 Americans say they'll travel more this year, according to a recent Nationwide Travel Insurance survey . Most of those trips will happen in June, July and August.

Not just that, but 40 percent of the respondents say they'll spend more this year than last year. So how do you protect your vacation investment?

Travel insurance is the standard answer, but what kind of insurance — and how do you find it? That's the question many Americans are wrestling with as they make their travel plans.

Protecting your vacation is a serious concern this summer, experts say.

“Travelers are beefing up their trip protection with security advisory and extraction protection," notes Dan Richards, CEO of The Global Rescue Companies .

It's not just that they're spending more. It's that there's more to lose. The ongoing war in Ukraine, the Hamas attacks on Israel, and other violent conflicts have made travel insurance a key part of trip planning.

This summer may break travel records, experts say.

Apple Confirms Innovative iPhone 16 Pro Upgrade

Wwe smackdown results winners and grades after wrestlemania 40, ‘civil war’ star on why the film’s president is not based on donald trump, it's going to be a busy summer for travel.

Overall policy sales for the 2024 summer travel season are up this year, but there's a spike in sales for policies in August, which is typically the busiest time of the summer. "Sales are up more than 25% over last year," says Stan Sandberg, co-founder of travel insurance site TravelInsurance.com .

Western Europe continues to be the most popular summer destination for Americans, with some notable hotspots. Travel insurance sales for Greece are up over 60% this year compared with 2023, followed by Norway and Portugal, which are up 57% and 52%, respectively, according to Sandberg.

Everyone's travel insurance needs are different, according to the pros.

What should you insure when you travel this summer?

Laura Heidt, the insurance desk manager for Brownell Travel in Birmingham, Ala., says there are some things every travel insurance policy should cover this summer.

"I always recommend people insure for the unexpected, such as flight delays, missed connections and medical coverage while out of the country," she says. "If you are willing to forgo the cancellation and delay coverages, which are typically the most expensive parts of a policy, you should still, absolutely, cover yourself with at least the medical component."

Heidt says she's seen a 10% boost in travel insurance sales for this summer compared with the same time last year, and many people are opting for the pricier "cancel for any reason" policies, which allow you to cancel your trip and receive a partial refund of your prepaid, nonrefundable travel expenses.

Travel insurance companies are seeing a similar trend.

"A majority of travelers choose a comprehensive travel insurance plan which includes coverage for trip cancellation, emergency medical, lost or delayed baggage and delay," explains Tim Dodge, vice president of marketing at Arch RoamRight .

He says this year, travelers are purchasing travel insurance on average within 11 days of their trip deposit to receive the additional benefit of the waiver exclusion for pre-existing conditions.

If you're traveling with kids, you'll need extra travel insurance protection.

Get a policy that's tailored to your needs

Travel insurance comes in all shapes and sizes. So you'll want to try a few on for size before you buy. You can actually do that, since most policies have a "free look" period that makes them fully refundable for the first week or two (depending on the policy).

"It's important to consider your specific travel plans and any potential disruptions in order to protect your investment," says Robert Gallagher, president of the US Travel Insurance Association (USTIA).

He says traditional plans offer coverage for unexpected cancellations, interruptions, delays, emergency medical expenses and lost or delayed baggage. For international travel, USTIA advises opting for a plan with emergency medical and medical evacuation coverage.

It also depends on who you're traveling with. For example, if you're traveling with your children, you'll want to consider a family-friendly priced travel insurance plan. But your destination also matters, says Carol Mueller, vice president at Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP).

"For young families, I typically recommend the ExactCare plan due to its pricing of two children at no additional cost for every one adult on the policy," she says. "However, for families venturing abroad, I’d suggest considering a plan like BHTP's LuxuryCare, which is designed to meet the distinctive needs of a high-investment vacation.”

You have choices when it comes to family coverage. For example, Allianz’s OneTrip Prime plan also includes coverage for kids 17 and younger when traveling with a parent or grandparent.

Medical evacuations can be expensive.

Look beyond travel insurance for extra protection

Mike Hallman, CEO of the air medical transport and travel security program Medjet , says MedjetHorizon memberships are selling briskly. They offer 24/7 security and crisis response, as well as transportation to a hospital at home if you're injured. Travelers are skittish even if they aren't going bungee-jumping.

"With geopolitical tensions still growing — all the riots in France, Italy, Ecuador and other tourist destinations over the last year — and crime causing the threat level to be raised for the Bahamas and Jamaica, it’s no wonder," he adds.

He makes a good point. Travel insurance can cover many of the events you're likely to encounter, such as a missed connection, lost luggage or a medical emergency. But it's also important to know what isn't covered — and to make plans accordingly.

Beware of travel insurance "overconfidence"

The summer travel season is still a few months away, but insurance experts are worried. Yes, they've seen a general uptick in insurance sales, but some travelers remain unprotected.

"We've started to see early signs that travelers are exercising less caution and are slightly less likely to sign up for travel insurance," says Joe Cronin, CEO of International Citizens Insurance .

By comparison, travelers purchased plenty of medical insurance in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. Cronin believes travelers were terrified of getting stuck with COVID-19 in a foreign country without insurance.

"To those who are thinking about traveling internationally without travel insurance, my recommendation is to spend a few minutes looking deeper before deciding," he adds.

Some types of insurance, such as a standalone medical policy, cost just a few dollars a day. A medical evacuation membership is also affordable. And even full-featured travel insurance policies can be cost-effective when you consider the benefits.

"Don’t put your summer travel memories, or your investment, at risk by forgoing the right vacation coverage," says Daniel Durazo, director of communications at Allianz Partners USA . "With international travel peaking during the summer season, an unprotected trip can leave travelers on the hook for costs resulting from an unexpected trip delay or medical emergency abroad."

Bottom line: Seriously consider travel insurance to protect your trip — and don't be overconfident. You never know what might happen this summer.

Human feces could power your Wizz Air flight within 4 years as world’s first commercial operation planned in the U.K.

A Wizz Air Airbus A320-232 plane is seen arriving at Eindhoven Airport on November 20, 2020 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Airline operators are scrambling for new forms of fuel to power their jets without causing harmful carbon emissions. One smelly solution could be the use of human feces.

Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air has announced plans to run 10% of its flights with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2030, and it is turning to U.K.-based biofuel company Firefly, which turns sewage sludge into jet fuel, to make it happen.

‘Kind of disgusting’

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Firefly CEO James Hygate described the biosolids used by the group as “kind of disgusting” but “an amazing resource.”

“It’s crumbly—like compost or wet chocolate cake,” Hygate said, as reported by the Guardian .

“There’s millions of tonnes of the stuff. And it has no intrinsic value.”

Firefly takes sewage sludge and converts it into two materials: biochar and bio-crude. The latter can be transformed into jet fuel, while the former has agricultural uses.

Wizz Air first announced a £5 million ($6.3 million) equity investment in Firefly last year , as part of its move to reduce its carbon footprint.

Sustainable jet fuel has proved a tough nut to crack, leaving operators in a race to comply with regulators as the EU plots a minimum of 20% of jet fuel to qualify as SAF by 2035, rising to 70% by 2050.

Potential solutions have taken many forms, but there hasn’t yet been a silver bullet.

Speaking in September, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said the airline would need to use half the electricity production of its native Germany to survive solely on SAF.

“I don’t think Mr. Habeck is going to give me that,” Spohr said in reference to German energy minister Robert Habeck.

A spokesperson for Lufthansa told Fortune at the time that the airline would be able to fly for only two weeks on its current supply of SAF.

Smelly solution

Human waste won’t be the sole solution and is likely to be used alongside other fuels like kerosene. Firefly’s COO Paul Hilditch told ITV News there are enough biosolids in the U.K. to satisfy half of country’s SAF demand by 2030.

Wizz Air is planning to incorporate the product into its aviation fuel by 2028, the group says.

That will depend on Firefly scaling up operations to a commercial level, which would be a world first for the fuel.

The company will start scaling with a factory in Harwich, Essex, which will serve two U.K. airports.

However, Firefly still needs regulatory approval and funding to make it a full-scale reality.

“Alongside fleet renewal and operational efficiency, sustainable aviation fuel plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions from aviation,” said Yvonne Moynihan, corporate and ESG officer at Wizz Air.

“Our investment in Firefly, which has the potential to reduce our lifecycle emissions by 100,000 tonnes CO2-eq per year, underscores our commitment to mainstream the use of SAF in our operations by 2030,” she noted.

  • Whether you’re visiting Moscow for a week or a month, getting a car rental at Moscow Vnukovo Airport (VKO) is the best way to explore the Russian capital. You’ll traverse various parts of the city that aren’t fully accessible by public transport. Self-driving lets you choose the shortest route to your destination and avoid traffic. Car rental desks at VKO are on the ground level in the Arrivals section, Terminal A. Once you get to the airport, head straight to your preferred company’s rental desk. You can also visit the rental desks after booking online. Make sure you carry all the requested documents. After processing, a staff member from the rental company will guide you to the pick-up point outside the terminal. Take your time to inspect the car for any dents or damages. Check the fuel level and make sure your maps are working and in your preferred language since most road signs in Moscow are in Russian.

What you should pay attention to is the return period. Make sure you return the car on time to avoid the late return penalty fee. You can inform the company early if you’re facing challenges and can’t return the rental car on time. After dropping off the vehicle, conduct a final inspection to check for damages before heading to your rental counter for clearance.
  • Moscow Vnukovo Airport usually gets busy between March to July when most tourists visit for the summer holidays. During this period, car rental bookings are generally high. You can experience long waits at the car rental counter. The airport also gets busy during weekends, special events, holidays, and major conferences in Moscow.
