Charlie Guzman (born June 11, 1985 ( 1985-06-11 ) [age 38] ), better known online as both DashieXP (or just Dashie ) or DashieGames , is a Dominican-American YouTuber and musician who makes gaming videos , comedic skits, and vlogs.

Guzman began his YouTube career in March 2006 under a channel named Dashie (which is now inactive), before moving to DashieXP , created on March 16, 2010, where he began uploading comedic skits revolving around "ghetto" characters. He also has a channel secondary to this named DashieXP2 , created on June 4, 2010, which features accompanying blooper reels to the skits as well as vlogs. However, he has since allocated the majority of his efforts to his gaming channel DashieGames , created on September 13, 2011, which is his largest channel by subscriber count and contains the most videos. He uploads to the channel three times a week; an amount he settled on to balance consistency with avoiding burnout.

Guzman is rarely active on his main and secondary channels.

History [ ]

He joined YouTube around March 2006 and became popular around 2010 when he started making videos and skits on his main channel Dashie XP. He also has a gaming account and a second channel, he also has a very first channel just called Dashie. Dashie originally lived in an apartment in Coral Springs, Florida, but moved to a new house in an undisclosed location in California in March 2016 but then he moved back to Florida in another house that is in an undisclosed location in June 2018; this is possibly because of noise complaints filed by neighbors in response to his frequent yelling and screaming. He is mostly active in his gaming channel, where he usually uploads three times weekly, and occasionally uploads videos on both his main and second channel with them being skits and unboxing videos.

In 2017, Dashie released a diss track on this channel about Pennywise, the main antagonist of the movie It .

DashieXP2 [ ]

Dashie also has a second channel called DashieXP2 . This channel is mostly for vlogs, Hangin' With Dashie , Mail Time , unboxing videos of new consoles and Bloopers from skits . Hangin' With Dashie is mostly about Dashie hanging out with his friends. Mail Time is when Dashie opens fan mail from fans and Bloopers are videos which Dashie makes some mistakes during recording skits.

DashieGames [ ]

Dashie also has a gaming channel called DashieGames . This channel is considered to be the most popular channel as he is mainly active in this channel. This channel is also famous for Happy Wheels , and infamously says "HAPPPPPPP!!!" at the start of almost every single Happy Wheels video. The Happy Wheels videos are uploaded on Mondays, while other gameplay videos are on any day. Saturday are sometimes for scary games like Five Nights at Freddy's , while Sunday is for Old School Sunday, which he plays retro video games from Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, etc. It has also become a thing for Super Mario Maker 1 and 2 and Splatoon 1, 2, and 3 videos to be uploaded (usually) every Saturday.

Dashie also has a channel just called Dashie , as this is his very first channel and joined around 2006. This channel, however, isn't very recognized and is least popular, but this channel became the origins of Dashie's popularity. Two short video series called Michael and J-Swag were also part of the channel until they moved to his second channel in 2012. This channel remains inactive as Dashie moved on to his other channels.

• Dashie has never been seen in a video without any sort of hat on, whether it be his gray baseball cap (or any other cap), gray beanie, or chef's hat. A fake video tried to depict Charlie without one but people realized its lack of authenticity, and Dashie used his main channel to post a comment on the video which simply read: 'fake.'
• It's very hard to find a video where he says words like "Dick" or "Pussy" and instead he made up supplementary words being " Diugh " and " Puh ".
• However, in an interview with Tim Chantarangsu , Dashie disclosed that "Tina" is completely fictional.
• Dashie is bilingual and can speak Spanish fluently because of his Dominican background.
• Dashie used to be an associate with Onision , and followed him on Twitter, and even used his music in his videos from 2010-2013. It is unlikely that Dashie still associates with Onision, given Onision's controversy since 2019.
• Dashie's sense of humor is very unique, with a lot of variables including hood talk, exaggerated incorrect spelling, screaming, wheezing when laughing and comparing certain people or events to celebrities and different movies. His broad knowledge of movies, his collection of movies and constant watching of different movies shown on his Twitter page may hint he is a big movie guy, and a massive fan of the industry.
• In one of Dashie's videos, he says before he started YouTube, he worked two jobs, one of which was at Best Buy. The other job was at a supermarket, later revealed to be Publix.
• Dashie is allergic to bees.
• Since March 2020, Dashie has undergone a significant weight loss, which is noticeable in recent videos. The impetus for doing so was the discovery of fatty tissue in his liver during a routine doctor's visit, which he discussed in an interview with Tim Chantarangsu .

As an interior designer at Dorothy Draper & Company Inc. , Rudy Saunders has had plenty of experience working in exquisite homes. But he had his work cut out for him at the pre-war studio apartment on the Upper East Side where he lives: The space is tiny—only about 375 square feet—and it’s a rental, meaning major renovations were out of the question.

Modern Home by Jess Cooney (Berkshires, MA)

Sited in Egremont, Massachusetts, the house that Jess Cooney 's clients had bought featured a new, all-white kitchen, along with sky-high windows overlooking dreamy mountain views. Then a tree fell through the roof during a storm (thankfully, the house was empty), and the area sustained significant water damage. “The accident made the decision for them,” says Cooney. “We gutted the kitchen, painting the cabinetry bright blue so it really popped in the open living space.”

English Manor by Kim Armstrong (Texas)

Designer Kim Armstrong’s clients, newly retired, were ready to move to the countryside. Their family was expanding as their children were creating families of their own. A new house with an open-concept floor plan had high ceilings that made window treatments a puzzle. But “the most challenging” part of the project, says Armstrong, “was to create intimate space” in the large open floor plan.

1930s Cabin by Emily Janak and Northworks (Jackson, WY)

Tearing into the walls of their new 1950s ranch house, designer Emily Janak and her husband, architect Adam Janak of Northworks , discovered an architecture lover's version of buried treasure: an original 1936 log cabin that had been covered up with drywall in the ’60s. “It was like finding gold,” says Janak. Because the pine timber had been sealed up for decades, it was in pristine condition.

Pop House by Atelier ND (Amsterdam)

Carice van Houten, best known for her role as Melisandre on HBO’s Game of Thrones , and her boyfriend, actor Guy Pearce, had just bought a 1918 brownstone in a suburb of the Dutch capital. The walls were all white, but Van Houten describes herself as “a walking color explosion, a female Peter Pan, a bit like Pippi Longstocking… My trademark is my eclecticism.” A kaleidoscopic upgrade was needed.

HB's 2022 Whole Home (Atlanta)

The Moscow Kremlin  usually referred to as the Kremlin, is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil’s Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west.

It is the best known of the Kremlins (Russian citadels) and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. Also within this complex is the Grand Kremlin Palace. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.

The name “Kremlin” means “fortress inside a city”, and is often also used metonymically to refer to the government of the Russian Federation in a similar sense to how “White House” is used to refer to the Executive Office of the President of the United States. It had previously been used to refer to the government of the Soviet Union (1922–1991) and its highest members (such as general secretaries, premiers, presidents, ministers, and commissars). The term “Kremlinology” refers to the study of Soviet and Russian politics.

All of Moscow’s main streets start at  Red Square , so it’s easy to see why this is considered the heart of the city. A massive space of 330 meters by 70 meters, the square is flanked by the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum, two cathedrals, and the State Historical Museum. In 1945, a massive Victory Parade was held here to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany by the Soviet Armed Forces.

St. Basil’s Cathedral , one of the most recognizable buildings on the square, was built in 1555. The unique cathedral has architectural details inspired by Byzantine and Asian designs, as well as details that resemble those found in famous mosques. There are nine individual chapels inside the church, all decorated with colourful mural art.

Guzman first appeared on YouTube in March 2006 with his first, now inactive, channel called Dashie. There he posted random videos, including film dubs and short skits (The "Michael." and "J-Swag" series). [ citation needed ] Around this time, he also ran a website called NAHSON! , where he dubbed anime and other shows, notably Dora the Explorer , in which he dubbed parts of the show using dark humor and extreme profanity. [1]

In March 2010, Guzman created his second, and now much more notable Youtube channel called DashieXP, with his first video "DashieXP - How To Sit Down" uploaded on March 16, 2010. [2] From this point, he began uploading comedy skits , freestyle raps , and animations usually parodying popular movies, shows, and games, his most notable including the "Spongebobby Sweatpants," "Nora the Explorah," "Mortal Kombat," and "Ghetto" series. His most viewed upload is "SPONGEBOBBY SWEATPANTS [GHETTO SPONGEBOB]" which, as of December 2021, has 12 million views. [3] This channel is semi-active, as he now posts gameplays regularly; his most recent video is "GHETTO CHEF 7!: BURGERS & FRIES!" which was uploaded on December 20, 2021. [4]

On March 10, 2015, Guzman's DashieXP channel surpassed 1 million subscribers. As of December 2021, DashieXP has a total of 570 million views and around 2.8 million subscribers. [5]

On June 24 2010, Guzman started a second channel called DashieXP2, where he posts bloopers and deleted scenes for his DashieXP skits, as well as his vlog series called "Hangin' with Dashie," and "Cooking With Dashie!" videos, the first of which, "Chicken Breast & Veggies!" being his most viewed on the channel with 3 million views. [6] He also has a "Mail Time" series and unboxing videos of new game consoles. He also has a toy unboxing video series called "[NOT 4 KIDZ] TOY REVIEWS!" since 2016. On September 13, 2011, Guzman created his most popular YouTube channel, DashieGames, where he regularly posts video game commentaries and streams. His first video "DG - Dead Island Tease" was uploaded on September 22, 2011, where he announced future gaming videos to come. [9] Since then, he's uploaded various gaming commentaries on Mortal Kombat , Resident Evil games, Call of Duty: Black Ops , and old school games , that formed his regular Old School Sundays videos. Guzman's first most popular video series came to be his " Happy Wheels Madness!" series, the first video uploaded on July 5, 2012. [10] [11] In the coming years, due to both his Happy Wheels gameplays as well as his popular Mario Kart 8 series gameplays, Guzman became increasingly notable for his wild and comedic personality, frequent use of profanity, and video game rage, which garnered him a wide audience over the years. [12] In his early years, in line with his Old School Sundays series, other weekday-themed video game series included Scary Ass Saturday , in which he regularly played scary games , and Strange Ass Saturdays, where he played weird indie games . We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. The Dead Daisies have announced their ‘Get Out Of The House’ US tour for the summer of 2021.

Bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes said: “We couldn’t play for you in 2020 and we’re really looking forward to seeing you in June/July for our ‘Get Out Of The House’ shows and then hit as many stages around the world as possible throughout the rest of the year. Love is the answer and music is the healer. Let’s rock ‘n’ roll together.”

With more dates planned, but yet to be locked in due to COVID-19 restrictions, the band hope to immediately follow up with more shows in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Russia and Europe over the summer, autumn and winter months .

So Many Places: The Life Of Leon Russell

Influenced by 1970s rock, The Dead Daisies have gone from strength to strength since their debut album in 2013, releasing five studio LPs and playing live to a growing army of fans worldwide. The band’s current lineup includes Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion) on bass/vocals, Doug Aldrich (Dio, Whitesnake) on guitar, Tommy Clufetos (Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne) on drums and David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink) on guitar.

The Dead Daisies’ latest album, Holy Ground, was released through Spinefarm in January . Recorded at La Fabrique Studios in the south of France with producer Ben Grosse, the LP is the band’s first to feature Hughes, who joined the group in 2019 as its new bassist and vocalist, replacing John Corabi (Mötley Crüe) and Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy).

Drummer Deen Castronovo announced his exit from The Dead Daisies in January, two days after the band’s publicist revealed that Clufetos will rejoin The Dead Daisies when they hit the road in support of “Holy Ground”. Clufetos previously toured with The Dead Daisies in 2015.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.

The Black Crowes kick off tour with high-energy show featuring Lainey Wilson

The Black Crowes' brothers Chris and Rich Robinson kicked off their 35-date "Happiness Bastards" tour Tuesday night at the Opry House in Nashville and introduced the crowd to arguably some of their best new music in decades backed up with a few classic favorites and choice cover tunes.

On a minimal set decorated only with strings of white lights, uniquely mismatched Marshall stacks, a life-size dressing room mirror, and a cardboard cutout of Chuck Berry peeking from behind the curtain, the Crowes gave the crowd exactly what they'd been hoping for: Chris' pipes of steel, Rich's excellent guitar chops and a surprise appearance by Lainey Wilson.

"If you're going to play the Grand Ole Opry, you have to bring out a bona fide country superstar," Chris told the crowd as he welcomed Wilson to the stage. She sang a duet from the new album called "Wilted Rose" and then stayed to back the brothers on a powerful version of "She Talks to Angels."

Chris danced and strutted across the stage in typical Black Crowes fashion, while his brother Rich focused on his guitar playing.

Kicking off the night at the packed-out Opry House despite looming severe weather Tuesday night were "Bedside Manners" and "Rats and Clowns" from the new album, "Happiness Bastards," which is the group's first original release in 15 years.

"It's been a little while since we've had some new songs to play for you all," Chris Robinson teased the crowd.

Backstory: The Black Crowes are back with a new attitude, a new album and a new tour

Next came an old favorite, "Twice as Hard" from the band's 1990 smash "Shake Your Money Maker." The band would layer in hits from that first album including "Remedy," "Jealous Again," and their biggest hit they didn't write, "Hard to Handle."

"A few years ago, we were lucky enough to have the idea to record this song," he said of "Hard to Handle." "Written by the greatest soul singer of all time from Macon, Georgia. His name was Otis Redding and we've been riding on this song for a long time."

The band seemed to enjoy performing the show as much as the crowd enjoyed watching it and dancing to it. The Crowes played for a solid 90 minutes before leaving the stage briefly to return for a one-song encore with Lou Reed's "White Light/White Heat."

It was a great way to kick off this new tour, which Chris Robinson said was not the first one they've started in Nashville.

"This marks two tours we've started in Nashville," he said. "Maybe this could become a thing."

This Springfield senior met President Biden, watched State of the Union from White House

A quest for a college scholarship led to a Springfield high school senior meeting President Joe Biden and watching his State of the Union address on March 7 from inside the White House.

Elana Noor Hadi, who will graduate from Central High School in May, admitted she didn't know much about the U.S. Senate Youth Program when it first popped up in her search results. But it carried a financial award of $10,000, which prompted a closer look.

She immediately requested a letter of recommendation from the principal, which was required, and set aside time to write the essay.

"I put a lot of effort in because the program looked pretty neat. It said all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., and, of course, $10,000, so I was really excited about that," she recalled. "It seemed pretty competitive so I was surprised when I got the call back for an interview in Jefferson City."

Hadi drove to the state capitol in late October, where she devoted much of her interview to talking about her love of politics, American history and the U.S. Constitution.

As it turned out, she was a perfect fit. At Central, Hadi is president of the student body, the Civics and Constitution Club and the Future Business Leaders of America. She co-founded the high school's Key Club as a sophomore.

The daughter of Dr. Bassam Hadi and Laila Hadi, she was one of 17 Central seniors with a perfect GPA celebrated at Springfield Public Schools' annual Recognition of Scholastic Excellence, or ROSE, banquet . She was also involved in tennis, robotics and band. She volunteers extensively.

She worked as a tutor at Kumon Education and she also provides private tutoring in the fall and interned this spring with the Arab-American Business and Professional Association.

Only two students from Missouri were selected. Hadi and Andrew Puthumana, a senior at Rockhurst High School, a private school in Kansas City, were invited to join U.S. Sens. Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt to represent Missouri at the 62nd annual U.S. Senate Youth Program week in Washington, D.C.

In all, 104 high school students were selected to participate in the event aimed at helping to increase the level of understanding about the three branches of government and how they interact. The scholarships and the trips were paid for by the Hearst Foundations.

The trip included meetings with senators, the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, leaders of cabinet agencies and others. They visited many notable spots, including the Library of Congress and the National Archives.

"It was jam-packed," she said. "The whole week had a very big focus on polarization and bipartisan views."

Hadi said there were a lot of tours and speakers. One standout was Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who is serving as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation. He had been part of the same program as Hadi, as a high school senior.

"The highlight was the Senate reception, where we got to meet our state senators, which was really nice, and take pictures of them," she said. "I saw Bernie Sanders in person."

Another highlight was getting to watch the State of the Union at a popcorn and chocolate watch party inside the White House. "After that, the First Lady and President came and talked to us," she said.

Hadi said the president talked about how he got into politics and how important it is for young people to participate in the process.

"I didn't expect it to be so impactful. I have always considered politics but more as a maybe ... It put the 'why politics is important' in my brain," she said.

Hadi said she was moved by hearing from U.S. representatives and senators about why they got involved in political life and what they hope to accomplish.

"Before that week, I didn't really understand the clarity and the focus on the future that all these representatives of our government have. They are all trying, in their own way, to focus on building our nation and sustaining it for years to come," she said. "It was really interesting to see the behind-the-scenes and the human side and how they are trying to help our nation."

Hadi, who planned to major in mathematics, said the experience provided a lot of fodder for other options, especially public policy or political science.

She was still deciding where to go to college. She has been accepted at the University of Notre Dame, the University of Indiana-Bloomington, and Southern Methodist University.

"I felt like a lot of the (student) delegates left knowing exactly what they wanted to do because a speaker resonated with them. But, if anything, it made me more indecisive because a lot of them resonated with me," she said. "I was thinking I could see myself in so many positions I hadn't considered before. It was more eye-opening."

Susan Boyle has sure come a long way since wowing the world on  Britain's Got Talent   in 2009, but she has still managed to stay humble.

To start us off, Boyle showed us the lovely grand piano room with pride. 

''That's a giggle for a start, cause I can't even do scales. I'm only learning at the moment, though. It's a bit like driving a car. It takes a bit of time,'' she told the cameras. 

Then came the kitchen, which was recently revamped. ''You got to have a mess before you have a palace, so this is the end result. It was a tiny kitchen before. There was a big round table and four chairs, and a cooker. You really had to watch what you were doing.''

Next up was the living room, which gave off a super homey feel, and was also redone with new walls and flooring. ''With me being away all the time, you tend to overlook [certain] things,'' Boyle said.

Upstairs, we got to see Boyle's very own room that she grew up in. 

''There's a bit of a history attached to this house. There used to be nine of us in it,'' Boyle said.

Then, we catch a glimpse of a sign that said ''Dream'' hanging on her window. 

''That's always my motto, to keep your dreams,'' Boyle said with a smile. Looks like that mindset sure paid off well for her! 

Boyle then explained that she shared the room with two of her sisters, the late Bridie (who died in 2015) and Cathy. Another sister, Mary, got married and ''left the nest'' years earlier. 

''I used to have my record player in the corner,'' she said sentimentally, reflecting on her surroundings.  

''My humble abode. I've been here a lifetime now. Nearly 60 years,'' she proudly concluded the tour. 

In an interview with  OK! , Boyle explained what drove her to purchase the house and stay with it, despite achieving massive fame . 

"It’s to do with the memories of your house and your upbringing, you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots lie," she told the outlet. "It’s best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn't say."

NEWS: Rep. Bowman Tours YWCA Workforce Development Program Awarded $690k in Federal Funding

YONKERS, NY — Yesterday, Congressman Jamaal Bowman, Ed.D. (NY-16) visited the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Yonkers’  Workforce Development Program, which is launching a new initiative funded by the $690,000 in community project funding that his office secured for the organization. Rep. Bowman met with YWCA leadership, program staff, and participants, about how the funding will serve the community. The new initiative will serve approximately 200 Yonkers residents with services including job skill assessments, work readiness workshops, postsecondary education preparation and placement, career guidance, child care, and transportation for participants.

“Everyone deserves to have the resources and support they need to reach their full potential,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman Ed.D. (NY-16) . “But so many of our youth are held back by a lack of financial resources to invest in themselves and their careers, which perpetuates the cycle of intergenerational poverty. When we invest in our young people, it makes an incredible difference, not just for the individuals, but for the entire community. That’s why I’m so proud that we were able to secure over $690,000 for the YWCA of Yonkers’ Workforce Development Program. They’re already doing incredible work and I can’t wait to see their impact on the community expand with this new funding.”

“The $690,000 that Congressman Bowman advocated for us to get is going to go a long, long way,” said YWCA CEO Charlie Knight. “We’re going to be able to expand our program to include different career paths and reach a lot more people. This is one of our most important programs at the YWCA because it’s focused on helping low-income people out of poverty by supporting them to advance in their careers and find stable, well-paying jobs. That’s where we want to see our participants go, and we’ve had a very high success rate so far. This new funding means that we’ll get to support even more people in the community. ”

“People in this program haven’t had the same opportunities in life as others,” said Sonya Wynn, a participant of the program . “Most of these doors were closed to us financially, but now they’re open because of Congressman Bowman, and that’s amazing for us.”

“This program has made a big difference for a lot of people,” said Program Coordinator Star Hendricks . “I stay in touch with former participants and they are really successful and moving up. The program opens their eyes to different things and shows them new paths, while also giving them a community to lean on for support. I’m really happy that we’re able to do so much with a job readiness program and I think it makes a big difference in people’s lives.”
