Best Booze Cruises in San Diego

What better way is there to experience San Diego Bay or Mission Bay, than with alcoholic beverages, a yacht, an onboard DJ, and good company? There is a reason that booze cruises are popular, but pair them with the beauty of a sunset cruise or the fun of a boating experience that lets you see all the sights of San Diego, CA, and you’re set!

There are a range of different booze cruise options in San Diego, from public sunset cocktail hours to private boat charters, and everything in between. You can enjoy wine, champagne, and other booze options as you board a boat in the marina and sail around San Diego Bay.

Let’s go through some of the top options when it comes to boozy bay cruises in San Diego. With so many great options, you can book with a huge group, or even by yourself. It’s not a bad way to meet people and have an adventure if you’re up for it!

The Best 5 Booze Cruises in San Diego

San Diego City Cruises

While there are plenty of options for you to charter your own boat, we’ve gone ahead and selected some of the top public booze cruise options, along with a Duffy boat charter option, based on what the most popular San Diego cruise options are.

Each option should cater to your needs in some way, whether it's a private boat charter or a yacht, allows kids or doesn't, or even just has a good location on the dock.

If you find a San Diego boat that happens to feel like a private charter, but for a fraction of the cost, you could be happy with this. Maybe, though, you're having an event that really does require a boat charter.

So, let’s get into it!

1. City Cruise Sights & Sips Sunset Cruise

The Sights & Sips cruise offers a unique happy hour setting that includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and drink specials. It's like a party, but you also get to cruise San Diego as you drink.

Formerly known as Hornblower Cruises, you can cruise San Diego with this reputable, established company.

With an indoor and outdoor dining space, you can choose how immersed you want to be in the ocean breeze. Maybe you’ll choose to grab a bit inside and then head out to the open-air deck with your drink.

What to Expect

The 1.5-hour cruise is complete with live DJ entertainment and views as you cruise San Diego Bay. You can expect to see the Coronado Bridge, a stunning sunset, and maybe even some wildlife.

At $52 for adults, the cruise runs from 6:30 to 8 pm, though you’ll board as early as 6 pm. If you want to make it a family event, kids can join, though they’ll stick to lemonade or sparkling cider, for example, and their tickets cost a bit less, at $40.

2. Mai Tai Boat Charters Sunset Booze Cruise

Boat charters are a wonderful way to cruise San Diego in style.

This sunset booze cruise runs from Monday to Thursday as a 3-hour way to cruise San Diego Bay. A great way to take a weekday happy hour to the next level, you’ll be able to bring plenty of friends along for the ride.

You’ll get beer and wine included in your $1500 flat fee, which can accommodate up to 12 people. For an added $50 per person, you’ll switch to an open bar option which includes unlimited cocktails, mixers, and their famous namesake Mai Tais.

The option is more costly than the general, public booze cruises on the bay, but is perfect for a private party, reunion, birthday, and more.

3. Duffy of San Diego Captained Wine Cruises

Quite a popular option for medium-sized groups, Duffy boat charters offer a great way to set the tone that you want for any outing on the bay, including a booze cruise. You can choose to relax, celebrate an event, or turn it into a full-on party!

There used to be the option to split boat charters with other parties if you had less than 6 people, which will likely return in the future. That option offered private table space for each group to enjoy a shared, but still separate experience.

Now, the 90-minute experience requires boat charters to be for an individual party, which includes up to 6 people. You’ll get a full bottle of California wine per every 2 passengers to split, as well as a charcuterie board-style snack to help you enjoy a relaxing, boozy sailing experience.

You can also purchase additional bottles of wine as you wish, so no worries that your boat will run dry! Grab some more wine and party on.

Since this is an individual option, the timing and dates of the charter are more flexible, and prices begin at $349 for the group, or under $60 a person. Not a bad deal, if you ask us.

4. Flagship Cruises Spirits at Sunset Cocktail Cruise

The Spirits at Sunset Cocktail Cruise runs in the summer when the sun sets later and your experience can be warmer.

As you relax aboard your boat and cruise beneath the Coronado Bridge, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, other small bites, and dessert dishes along with California wine, local beer, champagne, or a specialty cocktail.

Just because this is a spirits-based cruise doesn’t mean that the food is less than exquisite. With a range of dips, veggies, cheeses, ahi tuna, chicken, beef empanadas, and more, you’re sure to enjoy the snacks just as much as your drinks.

You’ll be able to book this booze cruise on the weekends, and it will run for 2.5 hours from 6 to 8:30 pm as you sail along 25 miles of San Diego Bay. Only adults 21+ are allowed to this party, which begins at $45.

The sun will set as you sip and sail, making this the most popular summer cruise trip that the company offers- and for good reason!

5. Cruise San Diego Sunset Boat Tour

Harbor sunset

This sunset boat tour operates year-round and comes with a full bar as you cruise the calm waters of Mission Bay.

It might not be a private boat, but this event allows you to have plenty of space aboard the boat so that you can make the most of your Mission Bay sunset cruise.

Cruise San Diego allows you to enjoy good music and an intimate, low-key feel while having access to all the alcoholic beverages you might want. The cruise lasts for 75 minutes and is a great introduction to Mission Bay and all it has to offer.

Cruise times change as the sunset time in San Diego does, so you can expect varying hours throughout the seasons.

A fun option for date night, a friend gathering, or even a family party where the parents can have some alcohol, adult tickets cost $39, and kids are $35.

Sail on San Diego Bay

Boat tours around San Diego are not hard to come by, but finding a good mixture of the sun(set), alcohol, and good space can make all the difference as you make your way around the waters of San Diego.

Whether your goal is to go all out on a booze cruise, or you'd rather just make sure to enjoy some beverages on whichever one of the bay cruises you choose, there are enough boats and experiences to fit your needs.

You can get ready for your next event and celebrate a holiday, anniversary, or promotion on a private charter, or simply find one of the boats that leave the harbor for daily tours.

Best booze cruises in the Caribbean

booze cruise setting

Technically speaking, a booze cruise refers to a ferry that crosses the English Channel to France to purchase copious amounts of cheap liquor. In the Caribbean, hooch on the high seas is a vacation mainstay as hearty partiers step from dry dock to wet bar, while calypso rhythms mix with the salty sea air. Check out our suggestions for the best floating happy hours.

It is three hours of fun on the Red Dread as the meandering coastline slips past the bow. Island Routes ' Reggae Catamaran Cruise departs from Negril and Montego Bay, docking at bubbly watering holes like Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, Pelican Bar and Rick's Café to cheer on the brazen as they dive from the cliffs. The crew on one of the most popular Island Routes tours keeps the crowd swaying to old-school reggae while cruisers learn how to bust a move or two. With snorkeling and swimming at various stops along the way, non-stop princely pours of Red Stripe and spicy snacks, the party on the waves costs $95 per person. New on the Island Routes roster and also going for $95 per person, Reggae Sunset Cruise is a club-on-water with DJs spinning dance tunes and bartenders shaking, stirring and pouring potent fruity cocktails.

St. Kitts and Nevis

Moonshine and moonlight are the star attractions on the Sunset and Nevis Beach Bonfire Cruise on catamarans called The Spirit and The Eagle. The five-hour voyage departs from the Port Zante Marina in St. Kitts’s capital city of Basseterre. After crossing the channel to the smaller isle of Nevis, cruisers enjoy a bonfire on Pinney's Beach between the Four Seasons Resort and Paradise Beach. A beach barbecue with island sides like coconut coleslaw caps a perfect evening. On the leisurely sail back to St. Kitts, the enthusiastic crew makes sure shots of the local Belmont Estate coconut rum-infused punch are topped up. "When the moon is full," smiles Captain Ian Wharton, "it adds magic to the natural beauty." Tickets are $98 and include the open bar, beach barbecue and all the selfies you can snap.

Mix a dash of Aruba with a shot of Cuba and you’ve got a good time on the two-hour Havana's Sunset Cruise. One of several sails offered by family-owned Pelican Adventures , the comfy catamaran departs Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. from the Pelican Pier between Playa Linda and the Holiday Inn. The twilight trip includes Cuban snacks like banana chips and pork cracklings with a mojito dip. The $50 ticket ($27 for kids up to 12 years old) includes salsa dance lessons and classic Cuban pours. For those who can’t wait for sunset, check out the Champagne Brunch Cruise that sails on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and comes with bubbly mimosas, sunbathing trampolines and snorkeling pit stops along the way. Departing at 9:30 a.m., tickets for the 4.5-hour cruise go for $79 for adults and $50 for kids.

On an eye-catching blue, orange and green 63-footer, sun salutations on the Sun Blast Jammin' Catamaran invite with plenty of dancing, soca and did we mention Jammin' rum punch generously splashed with Mount Gay and fruity juices? With a crew that may have snagged the best jobs on the island, the 5.5-hour daily sail that kicks off at 9 a.m. skims the west coast making three stops, including for a swim with sea turtles. For those who prefer to stay onboard, the well-stocked bar is always open. Although snorkeling sites may vary, there’s plenty to explore like the Berwyn that was reportedly sunk by its own crew in 1919 and the Bajan Queen that went under in 2002. A ticket is $90 per adult and $40 for kids, and includes the whole shebang from round-trip hotel transfers, breakfast, a lunch buffet that doesn't forget the essential Bajan macaroni pie, snorkeling equipment and Jammin' rum punch refills.

It is one rousing party on a pair of motorized catamarans called the Rhum Runners, owned by Best of Grenada Tours . Setting sail from the St. George's cruise dock or the Carenage (the pretty waterfront promenade that winds around the harbor), the four-hour tour passes the capital city and includes a stop at Morne Rouge Beach, unlimited rum punch and a cash bar for those who prefer beer, wine or cocktails. Steel bands encourage imbibers to enter the limbo competition while the less nimble chill out on the steel-hulled, twin-decked 60-foot catamaran Rhum Runner I or its bigger sister called the Rhum Runner II that easily entertains up to 240 party people.

Puerto Rico

Get ready to rumble on the Party Cruise that heats up the two-level funhouse called La Rumba . Moored near Plaza Darsenas at San Juan Bay, the dance bash on the bay is a two-hour shindig around San Juan showing off sights along the way like 18th-century forts and the coastline of Isla Verde. DJs spinning a non-stop soundtrack of salsa and meringue encourage even the shyest to shake on the disco-lit dance floor. The price for adults is $14 ($7 for kids – they like to dance too!). The fully-stocked cash bar won't break the bank with drinks starting at four bucks. Ideal for night owls who like to drink, the two-hour floating bender departs Friday at 10:30 p.m., 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., Saturday at 9:30 p.m., 11:30 p.m., 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. and on  Sunday at 7:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

St. Lucia

The sun tumbling behind the crest of the Piton Mountains is like a special effects show when viewed aboard the aptly named Saint Lucia Sunset Evening Party Cruise. Gliding along the west coast, spin masters rock the boat with tropical tempos as day-trippers learn a few Lucian dance moves, munch on apps and toast the picturesque perfection with cocktails, rum punch and champagne that flows non-stop at the open bar. On a clear night, the lucky green flash as the sun leaves the sky is worth waiting for. Island Routes arranges pick-up at many hotels including Bay Gardens Beach Resort, Capri St Lucia, Coco Palm, Sandals Grande St Lucia, Sandals Halcyon and Sandals La Toc. Tickets for the two-hour party are $85 per person with boarding at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.

St. Maarten

All hands are on deck as the Tango Caribbean Dinner Cruise sets sail from Aqua Mania Adventures at the Simpson Bay Resort on the Dutch side of the dual-nation island. Twice weekly (Wednesday and Friday) at 5:30 p.m, the 65-foot catamaran sets sail for a 3.5-hour outing that passes Mullet Bay, the caves and crevices on Cupecoy Beach and the island's most exclusive resort, La Samanna, sitting pretty along Long Baie Beach. Sunset sippers groove to the motion of the ocean as they saddle up to the open bar. Large nets up front scare away the occasional raindrop; refills of the Tango's signature punch stirred with dark rum, orange juice, grenadine and a few secret ingredients are never too far away; and funky calypso and reggae keeps everyone on their feet. On the Wednesday sail, the yummy buffet is a Dutch and French treat with beef bourguignon and crispy chicken and, on Friday, Caribbean fare like those addictive cornmeal flatbreads called Johnny Cakes. Tickets are $80 per adult and $40 for kids up to 13 years old.

Introduction

Going on a cruise is a wonderful experience. It’s a chance to relax, explore new destinations, and enjoy the luxurious amenities of a floating resort. However, one aspect of cruising that many people find restrictive is the alcohol policy. Most cruise lines have strict rules about bringing your own alcohol on board, often limiting passengers to a specified amount and type of alcohol they can bring.

But fear not, intrepid cruisers! There are ways to enjoy your favorite adult beverages while sailing the high seas, even if it means bending the rules a little. In this article, we’ll explore some clever methods and strategies to sneak booze onto a cruise ship. Please note, however, that these methods are for informational purposes only, and it’s always important to be aware of and respect the rules and regulations set forth by the cruise line.

Before we dive into the art of sneaking booze on a cruise ship, it’s crucial to mention that excessive alcohol consumption can be dangerous and sabotage your vacation. Always drink responsibly and be mindful of your own limits and the safety of those around you. Now, let’s raise a glass and uncover the secrets of smuggling alcohol on board.

Understanding the Cruise Ship Alcohol Policy

Before embarking on your cruise adventure, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the alcohol policy of the cruise line you’ll be sailing with. Each cruise line has its own set of rules and regulations regarding alcohol consumption and bringing alcohol on board.

Some cruise lines allow passengers to bring a limited amount of alcohol on board, typically in the form of wine or champagne, while others have a strict policy prohibiting any outside alcohol. Most cruise lines, however, offer onboard bars and restaurants where you can purchase alcoholic beverages.

It’s crucial to thoroughly read and understand the alcohol policy of your chosen cruise line. This information is usually available on the company’s website or in the documentation provided when booking your cruise. Familiarize yourself with the specific limitations and restrictions, such as the allowed quantity, types of alcohol, and any corkage fees that may be associated with bringing your own drinks on board.

One common practice among cruise lines is to allow passengers to bring a limited quantity of wine or champagne on board for personal consumption in their cabins. This is a great option for those who are wine enthusiasts or simply prefer to enjoy a glass of their favorite vino in the privacy of their own room.

However, even if outside alcohol is not allowed, most cruise lines have bars and lounges that offer a comprehensive selection of beverages, including signature cocktails, wine, spirits, and beer. These onboard options ensure that passengers can enjoy a variety of drinks without the hassle of sneaking alcohol on board.

Remember, the alcohol policy is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers. It’s important to respect and adhere to these guidelines to enjoy a smooth and enjoyable cruising experience.

Choosing the Right Containers

When it comes to sneaking alcohol onto a cruise ship, choosing the right containers is key. The goal is to conceal your drinks in a way that doesn’t raise suspicion and passes any security checks. Here are some clever container options to consider:

  • Travel-Sized Toiletry Bottles: These small, empty bottles are typically used for carrying shampoo or lotion. They are perfect for hiding a variety of liquids, including alcohol. Make sure to clean them thoroughly before using and consider transferring the alcohol into a brand that matches the original label to avoid suspicion.
  • Plastic Water Bottles: Empty plastic water bottles can be refilled with your drink of choice and resealed. This method works best for clear liquids, such as vodka or gin. Just be sure to tighten the cap securely to prevent any leakage.
  • Hidden Flasks: There are specially designed flasks available on the market that are created to discreetly hold alcohol. These flasks are collapsible and can be easily hidden in your luggage or even in your clothing.
  • Opaque Containers: If you plan to bring a non-clear liquid, such as whiskey or rum, consider using containers that are not see-through. This can help camouflage the contents and prevent any unwanted attention.

It’s important to note that while these containers can be effective for concealing your drinks, it’s crucial to adhere to the cruise line’s alcohol policy. Sneaking alcohol on board is a violation of the rules, and if caught, you may face penalties or have your illicit beverages confiscated.

Additionally, it’s always a good idea to consider the safety of your fellow passengers. If you choose to bring alcohol on board, do so responsibly and ensure it doesn’t disrupt the enjoyment of others.

In the next section, we’ll explore how to effectively conceal alcohol in your luggage to increase the chances of successfully sneaking it on board.

Concealing Alcohol in Your Luggage

When it comes to sneaking alcohol onto a cruise ship, concealing it in your luggage is a common method used by savvy cruisers. Here are some tips to help you successfully hide your beverage of choice:

  • Double-Sealing: To prevent any leaks or spills, double-seal your alcohol containers. Use plastic wrap or resealable bags to ensure that even if the bottles are accidentally opened or break, the liquid won’t leak and ruin your belongings.
  • Disguised Containers: Get creative and repurpose everyday items to hide your alcohol discreetly. For example, you can hide a flask in a hollowed-out book or conceal small bottles in socks or shoes. Just make sure these items aren’t obvious targets during security checks.
  • Diversion Tactics: Create diversions that draw attention away from your booze-filled luggage. Pack items strategically around the alcohol containers, such as toiletries, clothing, or personal belongings, to make the alcohol less conspicuous.
  • Use Padding: To avoid any suspicious sounds or rattling, use padding material such as clothes or bubble wrap to secure the alcohol bottles and minimize any movement.
  • Know the Layout: Familiarize yourself with the layout of your luggage and be able to quickly access your stash if necessary. This way, you won’t fumble or waste precious time trying to locate your concealed alcohol.

While these methods can increase your chances of successfully sneaking alcohol on board, it’s essential to remember that breaking the rules always carries risks. Consequences may include confiscation of your alcohol, fines, or even being denied embarkation.

Moreover, please remember to enjoy alcohol responsibly, and always be mindful of the policies and regulations set forth by the cruise line. Drinking excessively can not only put your own safety at risk but also negatively impact the experiences of those around you.

Now that you know how to conceal alcohol in your luggage, let’s move on to the next section, where we’ll explore creative ways to hide alcohol on your person.

Hiding Alcohol on Your Person

If you’re feeling particularly stealthy and daring, hiding alcohol on your person can be an effective method to enjoy your favorite drinks while onboard a cruise ship. Here are some inventive ways to discreetly carry alcohol on your body:

  • Hidden Pockets: Clothing with hidden pockets, such as jackets, pants, or even specially designed concealment items, can be used to stash small bottles or flasks. These hidden pockets are usually located in inconspicuous areas and can provide a safe and secure hiding spot for your drink.
  • Body-Carrying Options: Consider utilizing hidden items that can be strapped to your body, such as secret belts with hidden compartments or concealed flask holders that attach to your calf or ankle.
  • Binocular Flask: For those who enjoy their beverages with a side of adventure, binocular flasks are a clever way to bring alcohol onboard. These stealthy flasks look like regular binoculars but have hidden compartments for storing your drink.
  • Disguised Containers: Get crafty with your container choices. You can disguise alcohol by transferring it into empty shampoo bottles, lotion containers, or even sealed soda bottles.
  • Wine Rack Bra: For the ladies, wine rack bras offer a fun and discreet way to smuggle alcohol on board. These bras have removable flasks that can hold up to a full bottle of wine and can be easily hidden under clothing.

While hiding alcohol on your person may seem like an exciting adventure, it’s important to remember that cruise lines have strict policies regarding outside alcohol. Getting caught with hidden alcohol can result in penalties or confiscation of the contraband.

Furthermore, it’s always essential to drink responsibly and in moderation. Excessive alcohol consumption can negatively impact your cruise experience and potentially put your safety at risk.

Next, we’ll discuss some tips for ordering and mixing drinks onboard the ship, so you can still enjoy a variety of beverages without the need for smuggling.

Sneaking Booze into Your Cabin

If you prefer to have your own stash of alcohol readily available in your cruise ship cabin, there are some clever ways to successfully sneak booze past any potential inspections or checks. Here are some tips for sneaking alcohol into your cabin:

  • Repackaging: Consider transferring your alcohol into unmarked containers or containers that resemble common toiletry items. For example, you can pour your spirits into a mouthwash bottle or a shampoo bottle and reseal it for discreet storage in your luggage.
  • Hidden Compartments: Look for luggage or bags that have hidden compartments where you can store small bottles or flasks. This can be particularly useful if you have a dedicated space to keep your alcohol hidden from view.
  • Sealable Bags: Utilize sealable, odor-proof bags to store your alcohol. These bags can help mask any scent and prevent leakages, adding an extra layer of protection to your covert operation.
  • Creative Disguises: Get creative with your hiding spots. Consider placing your alcohol inside hollowed-out food containers or wrapping the bottles in clothing items to make them appear like ordinary belongings.
  • Cruise Luggage Screening: Be aware of the cruise ship’s luggage screening process. Some cruise lines have more thorough inspections than others. Familiarize yourself with their procedures to increase your chances of successfully bypassing any potential checks.

While sneaking alcohol into your cabin may seem like a thrilling endeavor, it’s important to remember that onboard regulations strictly prohibit outside alcohol. If you are caught, you may face consequences such as confiscation or fines.

Additionally, always ensure that you consume alcohol responsibly and in moderation. The cruise ship will have a variety of bars and lounges where you can order cocktails and other beverages, allowing you to enjoy the onboard experience without the need for smuggling.

Now that we’ve explored some sneaky methods to bring alcohol on board and to your cabin, let’s move on to discussing tips for ordering and mixing drinks on the ship.

Tips for Ordering and Mixing Drinks on the Ship

While sneaking alcohol onto a cruise ship can be an exciting challenge, it’s important to remember that most cruise lines offer a wide selection of onboard bars and lounges where you can enjoy a variety of drinks legally. Here are some tips for ordering and mixing drinks on the ship:

  • Signature Cocktails: Take advantage of the ship’s bartenders and try their signature cocktails. These drinks are often expertly crafted and unique to the cruise line, offering a chance to taste something new and exciting.
  • Beverage Packages: Consider purchasing a beverage package offered by the cruise line. These packages can provide unlimited access to a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout your cruise. It’s important to assess your drinking habits and compare the package prices to determine if it’s worth it for you.
  • Happy Hours and Promotions: Pay attention to any happy hour or promotional offers available on the ship. These can provide opportunities for discounted drinks or unique specials.
  • Experiment with Mixology Classes: Many cruise lines offer mixology classes where you can learn how to create your favorite cocktails from professional bartenders. Not only will you gain some new skills, but you’ll also have the chance to enjoy your own creations.
  • Be Adventurous with Non-Alcoholic Drinks: If you prefer non-alcoholic beverages or are traveling with individuals who don’t consume alcohol, there is often a wide variety of mocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails available on the ship. Don’t be afraid to try something new!

Enjoying the onboard bar and lounge scene can enhance your cruise experience. It allows you to socialize with fellow passengers, enjoy live entertainment, and savor expertly crafted drinks without the stress of smuggling alcohol or breaking any rules.

Remember to always drink responsibly and be mindful of your alcohol consumption. Excessive drinking can not only impact your own well-being but also affect the experiences of those around you.

Now that you have some tips for ordering and mixing drinks on the ship, let’s wrap up our exploration of sneaking booze onto a cruise ship.

Sneaking booze onto a cruise ship can be a thrilling and adventurous endeavor, but it’s important to approach it with caution and respect for the rules and regulations set by the cruise line. While we’ve explored various methods and strategies to conceal alcohol, it’s essential to remember that breaking the rules can have consequences, including confiscation, fines, or even being denied embarkation.

Before attempting to smuggle alcohol, familiarize yourself with the cruise ship’s alcohol policy. Many cruise lines have restrictions and limitations on bringing outside alcohol on board. However, most ships offer a diverse selection of onboard bars and lounges where you can enjoy a wide range of cocktails, spirits, and beverages legally.

If you prefer to have your own drinks in your cabin, consider creative ways to enjoy your favorite beverages within the boundaries of the cruise line’s rules. Repackage your alcohol, utilize hidden compartments, or even disguise your containers to increase your chances of success.

It’s always important to drink responsibly and in moderation, regardless of how you choose to enjoy your favorite adult beverages on a cruise ship. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to negative consequences, both for your own health and for the enjoyment of those around you.

So, whether you choose to explore the onboard bars or indulge in your own clandestine stash of alcohol, make sure to prioritize safety, respect the rules, and enjoy your cruise experience to the fullest.

Now, go forth, embark on your adventure, and toast to a memorable cruise vacation!

Politics | Infamous ‘Booze Cruise’ linked to MassGOP state committee race

booze cruise setting

The candidate running for GOP state committee against current party chair Amy Carnevale is being aided by Sandy Tennant, the 72-year-old operative behind the infamous topless booze cruise of 1999 that ended the political career of ex-Congressman Peter Blute.

Maria Pia Perez bragged recently on social media on that she is being aided by Tennant. Perez has been endorsed as part of the slate supported by Jim Lyons, the former chairman who was ousted by Carnevale last year.

Lyons lost his job as party boss after four years in which he plunged the state GOP deep into debt, hired private detectives to probe his fellow Republicans, spawning several federal and state investigations while he failed to win a single open seat or defeat any sitting Democrats.

Perez’ platform prominently mentions her concern about “A Return to Pagan Antiquity.” Tennant, on the other hand, is best known for his weekday partying with Blute, then the boss of Massport. When one of the scantily-clad young women on the boat, the Nauticus, spotted the Herald photographer, she flashed him.

Blute stepped down from the top spot at Massport the next day.

It remained unclear last night whether Gidget — the woman photographed flashing the Herald in Boston Harbor on August 17, 1999 — is involved in helping Tennant fight “A Return to Pagan Antiquity.”

Perez of Lynn is running in the Third Essex Senate District in Tuesday’s election.

Reached by phone Sunday, Tennant said he would call or text the Herald back about his support for Perez. He did not return a message by presstime.

Perez, who could not be reached for a comment at her Lynn home, writes in a long online essay about her candidacy, “We are living in a time that’s ushering in a Dark Age. … We are seeing in our society a return to Pagan antiquity.”

She goes on to add that “in the post-Christian West, we have abandoned our Judeo-Christian heritage, and life is becoming cheap once again.”

Super Tuesday in Massachusetts will be as much about the top of the ticket as the bottom.

FAQs: Aruba Booze Cruises

What to bring on your aruba party cruises, ☀️ reef safe sunscreen.

Reef-safe sunscreen is required by law in most Caribbean islands. Be aware that just because it says “reef-safe” doesn’t mean it is! Check the reef-safe.org guide to be sure you’re buying sunscreen that will protect the beautiful Caribbean coral reefs. Rain or shine, don’t forget your sunscreen!

🤿Snorkel Gear!

Some of these tours include jumping into coral reefs and warm clear waters! They usually include snorkeling gear , but sometimes the provided gear just doesn’t fit me the right way.

Plus, there are so many incredible snorkeling spots in Aruba , like Arashi and Mangel Halto – you’ll want your own gear to explore under the sea all around the island.

One of my fun traveling friends turned me on to Cressi’s snorkeling gear a while ago. I’ve snorkeled in Turks and Caicos , Aruba , Grand Cayman , and other Caribbean islands and this gear always pulls through.

🤢 Sea Bands or Dramamine

If you’re anything like me, you’ll want sea bands or some motion sickness relief. Dramamine Non-Drowsy with Natural Ginger is my go-to for planes, jeeps , and boats. If you catch a day when the waters are rough, it can easily ruin your snorkeling experience.

Phones have great built-in cameras these days, a GoPro can be really helpful for recording memories without having to worry about your phone all day! I recently invested in a GoPro 10 and it has been a game-changer for making memories.

I waited a long time to get my GoPro and now I regret that I didn’t have it for all my adventures before! I don’t use it professionally, just personally. It captures great videos and photos and its so easy to travel with!

🌊Floating Waterproof Phone Case

If you don’t want to commit to a GoPro, a waterproof and floating phone case will do the trick! I love being able to capture memories on land and in the water! I didn’t want to bring a good camera on my Stingray City tour in Grand Cayman , so I used this, and it worked great.

☁️ Sand Cloud Quick Dry Towel

I don’t go to any beach without my Turkish quick dry towe l. You’ve likely heard about them from Shark Tank a long time ago. I HATE sand. So, a towel that dries quickly and shakes the sand out easily is the towel for me.

Corey Fuller

Is there a better way to spend a summer afternoon than cruising around NYC waters with some boozy drinks? We think not! It’s time to grab your crew and hit the open waters for a day (or night!) of fun. Plus, DJs will be spinning the latest hits for you to dance to, all while taking in the breathtaking views of Manhattan. Hop aboard and enjoy a delicious buffet-style meal, breathtaking views, and the chance to dance the night away on the water!

Along with the stunning street art that makes up every inch of the boat’s interior walls, there are works from over 30+ NYC artists on display inside the boat. Although La Barca Cantina isn’t technically a cruise, this floating Mexican restaurant serves some of the best cocktails and most authentic Mexican street food around. We’re personally a huge fan of their Bucket List Golden Margarita and Tequila Bandera, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the drink menu. If you’re really looking for some nightlife, be sure to stick around for “La Barca After Darka” on Sunday nights which is their 21+ nighttime fiesta, complete with music, snacks, views, and overall great vibes!

The ‘healthy’ cruise that wellness fans will love

Can you really stay fit and healthy on board, with booze and buffets at every turn cruise expert sue bryant puts her willpower to the test.

The midship deck of the Celebrity Ascent

B ack in the day, one of the (many) cruel jokes about cruising was that you’d board as a passenger and have to be winched off as freight. A five-pound weight gain over the course of a week was, and still is, quite common. Cruise ship food 30 years ago was generally rich, fatty and distressingly beige.

The old adage may still be true, not because the food is unhealthy but because there’s so much choice. What today’s more discerning cruise passenger expects is variety and that’s what’s on offer. This is, for many, a dietary downfall. “I’ll just pile my plate with salad. But look! A curry corner. Whoa! Pizza! Just a small ice cream …”

I’m on a mini cruise aboard Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, the gleaming, 3,260-passenger Celebrity Ascent, which has a strong focus on wellness. Celebrity’s target market is millennials and Gen Xers like me — holidaymakers who are active, fit and choosy about what they eat. “Mental and physical wellness is hugely important to our guests,” says Celebrity UK’s vice president and managing director Giles Hawke. “Our research shows it, both in terms of eating and lifestyle. Our gyms are state of the art and the classes are really well attended. We’re seeing bigger take-up in the spa than ever before.”

The sauna on board

The ship certainly looks the part. There’s a gorgeous, Kelly Hoppen-designed spa, a gym to rival the smartest clubs at home and classes from spinning to cardio boxing, HIIT and bungee fitness. The healthy dining options are promising.

I’m a convert to Zoe, the gut health programme, at home and love healthy eating anyway, but vow not to bang on about it. I just want to go home feeling better than when I arrived and, ideally, the same weight. I’m with my 26-year-old daughter, Lauren, an enthusiastic and well-travelled foodie. “I’m going to eat everything I want,” she declares, “and make up for it in the gym.”

We board the ship in the Miami sunshine. It’s lunchtime. Lauren makes a beeline for Raw on 5, a smart sushi restaurant with a gleaming display of seafood at the entrance. She piles into the sushi and sashimi (portions from £8), while I have a healthy-ish chicken teriyaki. OK, and two glasses of rosé.

That night, there’s a glitter-themed party, Shine the Night, by the pool, a DJ spins tunes and Bahama Mama cocktails flow. It’s a sultry evening as we steam south and the mood is euphoric. Our jetlag is forgotten as we dance under the stars to the thumping beat until I lose track of time.

Lauren staggers into the cabin at about 2am, but there’s no mercy — she’s signed up for a bungee fitness class (£16, or £30 for a three-day class pass) the following morning, cruelly early, at 8.30am. Conveniently, my own exercise regime has to be tamer because I’m injured. I peek around the door of the exercise studio and she’s doing press-ups, suspended from the ceiling by a bungee cord around the midriff, green in the face. I collect a couple of “detox” smoothies from the Spa Café (£5), hoping she’ll be revived. She’s not. I’m tempted to splurge on the new IV Therapy Lounge for a 60-minute “bRevived” drip, but £157 each is too much for a hangover cure, even for my daughter.

There are so many places to eat and drink on this ship — 32, to be precise — that there’s no way we can try all of them on a mini cruise. I head for a tasting session at Eden, a beautiful, leafy lounge at the back of the ship with an entire wall of glass and a smart gourmet restaurant. Eating here costs £47, with the option of a seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings for £95. I’m thrilled to see a vegetarian version of the tasting menu and try the delicate tomato ceviche, which is exquisite. I ask the chef if there’s much demand for the veggie menu. “Not much,” he shrugs. Early days, perhaps.

We snag reservations in Le Voyage, a posh restaurant masterminded by the celebrity chef Daniel Boulud. Dinner here costs £59 a head — much cheaper than the chef’s restaurants ashore. The tamarind and peanut prawns and sea bass with couscous are next level and the restaurant, hidden from the bustle of the ship, is like a gold cocoon.

There are plenty of places to eat included in the price of the cruise, from four main dining rooms, each with a theme, to the Mast Grill on deck, a café at Eden and the Oceanview Café buffet. Celebrity’s buffets are some of the best at sea and those on Ascent don’t disappoint. A whole counter groans under mountains of seafood. There’s a paella corner, a pasta station, a Tex-Mex section and a carvery, plus cakes in every colour of the rainbow. Luckily for me, there’s a spectacular salad bar and I assemble a mixed salad topped with feta, hummus, seeds and nuts. Followed by a tiny amount of curry.

To me, food aside, one of the biggest joys of a high-tech ship like this is the entertainment, which also costs nothing. The theatre performances are outstanding and the creative team has variously worked with Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Cirque du Soleil and Dua Lipa. The shows are joyous, contemporary and energetic, with lasers and kinetic lighting, the same tech that’s being used in the smash hit Abba Voyage show in London. In fact, there’s music everywhere, from jazz in the Grand Plaza to a sultry Smoke & Ivories show in the nightclub, evoking a moodily lit speakeasy.

Our minds never stray far from food, though. Of course, there’s plenty of take-up for burgers and chips at the poolside Mast Grill, but my lunchtime favourite is the Sunset Bar, a Mexico-meets-Morocco al fresco venue spilling over two decks at the back of the ship. There’s a Middle Eastern snack menu here (each dish £6.30) and we tuck into hummus, baba ghanoush and tzatziki with warm pitta, lamb meatballs and tabbouleh.

The Sunset Bar in the Celebrity Ascent

Of course, the question of sustainability is inevitable on any big ship. But cruise lines now use smart technology to predict what quantities of food will be needed, to help minimise waste. Everything outside the buffet on Ascent is prepared à la minute. The whole supply chain has been reviewed to be made more sustainable. Most of the fruit and veg is sourced locally rather than being shipped across the world.

I walk everywhere in my admittedly low-key fitness campaign — and on a ship the size of Ascent, that notches up steps. I can easily smash 10,000 a day. I join a yoga class, which is basic but pleasant, and swim laps in the pool while Lauren cycles in the packed gym and works up a sweat on the Stairmaster. We spend a happy afternoon trying all the saunas and steam rooms in the SEA Thermal Suite — salt, crystals, infrared — and nod off on heated loungers (£78 for a two-day pass).

Wellness on cruise ships is only going to get bigger, says Aishling McCarthy, director of operations for OneSpaWorld, which runs the spa on board. “Sexual wellness, longevity, menopause, emotional wellness, sleep — they’re all trending now,” she says, which means treatments will find their way on to cruise ship spas in time. New for Ascent, for example, is a sleep programme that includes an aromatherapy massage, an evening in the thermal suite, a very light meal and, naturally, leaving your phone in the cabin.

For all the classes and step-counting Lauren and I do, we probably burn the most calories dancing. On the final night, different generations are grooving together under the stars to Pitbull, JLo and the Kaiser Chiefs with wild abandon, waving glow sticks. This is what I love about cruising. You can make a complete idiot of yourself and nobody cares; even my normally eye-rolling daughter doesn’t bat an eyelid. Which is how I end up on a podium, high in the atmosphere, belting out Sweet Caroline at 1 am in the hot, humid night.

We couldn’t have crammed any more into our short cruise. “I’ve eaten lovely food and made the most of the gym and spa, so I’m happy,” Lauren says. As for me — I’m full of energy and delighted not to have eaten a single beige dish. And my jeans still fit. Mission accomplished.
