London, March 1 st , 2021 – With live music in lockdown and the return of tours still uncertain, rock group Queen has come up with a safe alternative – no masks, no social distancing, just the good old fashioned live experience, with ‘Queen: Rock Tour’, the band’s first ever official game for Android and iOS devices.

The arrival of the play-along rhythm game comes at a significant landmark for Queen. With 50 years now having passed since the 1971 recruiting of John Deacon, completing Queen’s classic line-up, 2021 marks a Queen Golden Jubilee that the band was hoping to celebrate with fans. A massive 29-date European stadium and arena tour planned for this year has been forced to be delayed to 2022.

Queen: Rock Tour gives players a chance to experience the majesty and might of the Queen [live] experience on their phones supported by extensive attention to detail contributed by the official Queen archives and experts. Style your performances with over 40 official and iconic costumes from the band’s history and help unlock fun trivia facts and exclusive images from the official Queen archives, by scoring highly in the game.

Queen’s music has been featured in major mobile music games before, but for the first time ever the band will be releasing their own dedicated mobile experience in Queen: Rock Tour.

Queen remain one of the most popular groups in the world today, transcending multiple generations of fans, a position further buoyed by the phenomenal global success of their Academy Award-winning 2018 biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody , which tells the incredible story of the band’s historic career and quickly became the highest grossing music biopic in history.

The film’s title was inspired by their iconic 1975 single “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the world’s most-streamed song from the 20th Century and the first pre-1980’s song to achieve more than 1 billion video views.

Queen Launches Mobile Gaming App, ‘Queen: Rock Tour’ [Video]

Queen , the beloved rock band, has teamed up with Gameloft to release their first-ever mobile gaming app, Queen: Rock Tour .

Launched over the weekend, the tap-along rhythm gaming app is available for free download on iOS and Android devices, and comes with a very similar gameplay format to the popular Guitar Hero and  Rock Band video game franchises.

Users can perform up to 20 of Queen’s well-known songs as all four members of the band, including late singer Freddie Mercury . The virtual performances also take place in 10 real-world venues, and users will have the chance to unlock band member costumes along with exclusive imagery from the band’s official archives, according to reports.

“Become a rock legend with Queen, as you tap to the rhythm of Queen’s most iconic songs with Freddie, Brian, Roger & John and relive the greatest moments of the band,” Queen posted in a statement to social media.

“The creative challenge was to modernize the traditional rhythm-game genre with innovative and mobile-friendly twists inheriting from hyper-casual gaming, and with a unique and happy visual style that offers a timeless look to the band, appealing to the new generation of players,” Gameloft creative director Cedric Ratajczak said of the new mobile game. “We devoted enormous attention to the details of Queen’s history, authenticity and artistry to craft a fitting tribute to one of the most significant bands in rock history.”

Currently, the free version of the game provides the Queen II Tour (alongside the Rock Star mode for We Are the Champions ), but in order to play further in the game one would have to purchase the full game for $2.99.

The player is put in the shoes of the legendary rock band Queen, playing shows from the Queen II Tour in 1974 to the Kind of Magic Tour in 1986. Each tour has two songs from each album that can be played in a rhythm style game in a similar vein to the gameplay of Rock Band.

While fully immersed in the Queen universe, players can progress and score points by playing guitar, drums, bass or singing vocals as May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon or Freddie Mercury along to such iconic hits as Bohemian Rhapsody , We Will Rock You , Radio Ga Ga , I Want to Break Free and We Are The Champions , and 15 others, while rocking stages at 10 historic concert venues around the world, including London, Tokyo, Houston, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

Additionally, they can potentially earn Queen Coins or new Memories from each song the player completes.

Queen Coins can spent on outfits and special moves for members of the band. [1]

More than 40 official and classic costumes, trivia and exclusive images from the official Queen archives can be unlocked with high scores in the game that comes as the group celebrates its 50th anniversary. And while the band was hoping to share its Golden Jubilee with fans this year, their 29-date European stadium and arena tour planned for 2021 has been delayed until 2022 due to the pandemic.

Queen have announced Queen: Rock Tour , the first official game from the rock giants for Android and iOS devices. In a lockdown world in which live music remains largely on hold, it offers players the opportunity to experience the might and majesty of the Queen live experience from the comfort of home. The game is available now for Android and iOS.

Queen’s music has been featured in major mobile music games before, but the new official game marks the first time that the band have released their own dedicated mobile experience. The game arrives as the band observe 50 years since their classic original line-up was completed with the arrival of bassist John Deacon. The Queen Golden Jubilee tour with which they planned to celebrate with fans, via a massive 29-date European stadium and arena tour this year, has now been postponed until 2022.

That live experience now comes to the mobile devices of their adoring audience, heightened by extensive attention to band history and imagery via the official Queen archives and experts. You can hit the stage and perform with the entire band, playing thrilling guitar riffs, heart-pounding drum solos and more, simply by tapping the tiles in time with the rhythm. “Be a lockdown rock star! No turning back!!!”, advises Queen guitar hero Brian May.

In the game, players can immerse themselves in Queen’s world, scoring points and progressing by playing along to 20 of the band’s timeless hits. These include “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “Radio Ga Ga,” “I Want to Break Free,” and “We Are The Champions.” Fans can perform at ten famous concert venues around the world, styling their performances with more than 40 official costumes from the band’s history. Fun trivia facts and exclusive images can be unlocked from the official Queen archives by scoring highly in the game.

Queen: Rock Tour is a rhythm-action game for iOS and Android that sees you playing the iconic band's discography

Gameloft and Universal Music Group have teamed up to release Queen: Rock Tour for iOS and Android. It's a rhythm-based music game that features over 20 classic songs from the influential rock band's catalogue.

This will include the likes of 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Keep Yourself Alive', 'We Will Rock You', 'I Want to Break Free' and 'We Are the Champions', among others. You'll be able to tackle the vocals, guitar, drums, bass and piano by tapping the tiles that will appear on the screen.

There will also be a series of iconic venues to rock out in as well across different countries such as London, Tokyo, Houston, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. The highly anticipated tour will be an unforgettable experience filled with timeless R&B music and stellar performances that are set to captivate audiences across 30 cities nationwide.

Must have for queen fans!!

I downloaded this recently, and I can’t stop playing it! I highly recommend for any queen fans who want a game to play! It’s definitely challenging, but very fun at the same time! It also has fabulous little animations and features, and of course a fabulous soundtrack!!

Utterly devoid of challenge. Missing several great songs.

Getting the Platinum record on each song on Legend difficulty is ridiculously easy. The timings required to score a “perfect” hit are far too loose, and there isn’t enough punishment for missing notes. On the Beginner and Rock Star skill levels, the beats in about half the songs bear little resemblance to the music. I think Flash is the worst offender. The unlockables, outside of the tracks, are kind of meaningless, and the band does the same performance on basically the same stage for every song. Would it have been so hard to animate a Pop Vinyl David Bowie for Under Pressure? Super disappointed to see these songs not included: Innuendo Stone Cold Crazy Bicycle Princes of the Universe The Show Must Go On Who Wants to Live Forever I’m pretty sure “I’m In Love with my Car” doesn’t make any Queen fan’s top twenty, and in its place could have been any of a dozen songs could have been a better inclusion. I’m giving it two stars because, while it’s technically competent, I really don’t think I got my money’s worth on paying for the full version. I finished this in one sitting.

Solid Game For Any Queen Fan

For a guitar hero style game with a Queen spin, Queen: Rock Tour succeeds in bringing the music of Queen to life with great level designs, aesthetics and sound. One major flaw is that there almost isn’t enough content to warrant the price of the full version. With only 20 songs, it only scratches the surface of Queen’s discography and is a very small amount of songs compared to Guitar Hero or Just Dance games. There is room for a big update, but even the current paid version (and free version!) have plenty to keep yourself engaged for a long time, it’s clear that the creators are fans of the band and their legacy, I look forward to seeing where this game will go in the future.
