Hi have been to voyage Sorgun a few times and voyage Torba. Now looking to try Belek next year but it is coming up very pricey. So maybe looking at Sorgun again as really do love it their or trying Voyage Turkubu or even Voyage Bodrum. But really want to try out Belek just want to know if it's worth the extra money compared to what I know I will get at Sorgun thanks.

At the moment the Hemera is in the lead, but nothing booked yet! I've never tried a Barut hotel and although I know it'll be very different and a lot quieter than the Voyage hotels, they do seem to have a pretty good solid reputation. I think if we can get out more in the evenings into Side we won't miss the party atmosphere in the hotel so much. We're hoping that our friends will join us again as well so can generally make our own entertainment.

But if you have any other ideas for me I'll be happy to hear them. I'll be interested to see how you find the Side star elegance as that comes in at a great price for us with Jet2, so please keep me informed.

Have a great time at the Titanic. It'll be interesting to hear your thoughts on it if you feel like posting. I've always quite fancied the Titanic in Belek and the one in Bodrum.

That'd be great, it's nice to hear about hotels that don't get mentioned that much. Yes love the look of the Bodrum titanic and it's an area we'd like to return to as not been since 2011. We loved Bodrum but just haven't ever found the right hotel to book there. How did you find the Voyage Torba? I've heard it's only really similar standard to VS/VB if you're in the private section, is that right?

Yes I must admit to feeling quite envious of those who can take advantage of bargains during term time, but shouldn't really be wishing the time to go any quicker, it goes fast enough as it is, and it will be us one day!

I also love the Bodrum erea along with fethya. I have said before Torba was in a beautiful bay and it had all the Voyage standards and drinks concept. It put on amazing shows in the evenings. But the year we went they had stopped all day time activities and entertainment. So no games no music. And I was with my at the time 15 year old daughter and her friend. So it was just lacking a bit for us at that time. We had a good holiday, the bay is beautiful and their is a lovely cobbled area with a bar to sit at in the evenings which was very nice. And they did put on silent discos with big cocktail party's which were fun late afternoons . It is probably fine for couples, fine for families with litle ones. And fine for people who have not been to V/S or V/B lol. But we had just had two years at V/S. But it dose come up a bit cheaper and you do get everything else you get at a Voyage. The private I never looked round but people said it was lovely and a work colleague of mine went to the private and said how good it was, food drink service etc. But for me I found it strange as it is across the the road from the main complex. So it's away from the sea. And I like to be near the sea even if I am by a pool I want to see the sea lol. But that's just my opinion.

Yer don't wish your time away as you say it goes fast enough. And before you know it you wil be looking at adults only hotels lol. Although my 18 year Daughter is still talking about coming on holiday with us next year. With the help of dad of cause 😂. As she is saving to go travelling late next year !!!. At the mo we have a family hol then my daughter has her mates hol then the wife and I have a week on our own. Which brings me back to Voyage Bodrum adults only which looks lovely. But was out of our price range for a quick week away. I have never done adults only and they do look lovely and peaceful lol. But I think I'd miss the noise and banter and activities you get at family resorts. I like having the best of both worlds as in adults only areas. Especially a 16+ Buffet restaurant lol. Were you can leave your kids with your friends for an hour and enjoy the peace . Which their used to be at V/S. And when we went to Atmosphere Kanafusi in the Maldives, they are bliss lol.

Thanks, that's helpful info about the VT. I do agree about the Voyages offering the best of both worlds with their adult only areas. I do love the activities and music around the main pool areas but it's lovely to sneak off to the adult only for a bit of peace and quiet now and again! The adult only buffet was lovely, we had one lunch and one evening meal there and it's a totally different experience with a guide from the waiter to what's being served and where, great drinks service and even a fresh flower in the saucer of my coffee cup at the end of the meal! You don't get that in the family area! Luckily the kids are now at an age where they are happy to be independent and enjoy the occasional meal on their own, I think it makes them feel really grown up! And they were quite happy to spend an hour at the bowling alley while we had a drink in the Planet bar on a couple of evenings, as long as we're paying for the tokens!

Every year as the kids grow up we seem to have slightly different needs from a hotel as a family, but I'm sure like yours, our kids will be more than happy to come with us for the foreseeable future as long as the bank of mum and dad is paying! But at least eventually we won't have to cough up for the crazy school holiday prices.

I totally agree and after years of noisy buffet restaurants it was the Tranquillity and as you said the tentative nature of the waiters which was stood out. Your in for some great times with your family as the kids get older, being able to relax more, and more of the things you did at V/B this year. I Remember a coming of age moment was the first post family holiday I read a whole book on holiday once again lol. But I still look back with fond memories of the mini disco days lol.

Having been to the VS last summer and the VB this summer I can give you my personal opinion and try and compare the 2. We had fantastic holidays at both hotels and would return to either but although they have similar concepts, they are quite different in many ways.

Location........we preferred the Sorgun. Side is a much nicer town than Belek if you like to get out.

Rooms.......VS more modern as its been refurbished but the VB more practical with the enclosed bathroom and dressing tables and mirrors in bedrooms.

Buffet.......food was better at the VB but layout made it more chaotic at busy times. Also has advantage of an adult only buffet. But we liked the entertainment in the outside area at the VS. (VB shows in amphitheater)

A la cartes.......very similar, all good, although we did prefer the Teppenyaki at the VS.

Lunchtime choices........I missed the VS beach snack bar this year, but there were plenty of other places to eat.

Bars.......the Planet bar is great at the VB and the VS doesn't really have anything like it. It's adult only after 9pm. Also liked the pool bar with live music in the evenings. But we did enjoy the more comfy seating of the bars at the VS.

Drinks very similar at both for branded alcohol and soft drinks. Probably more fridges to help yourself to at VB.

Service.......better service at reception at VS, and much friendlier, although GR very good at both. Service in restaurants and bars we found much the same with roughly the same amount of English speaking staff. A la cartes better service at VB, and excellent service at their adult buffet.

Entertainment......the VB wins hands down for its parties at night and daytime activities. Although both entertainment teams were extremely good. I did prefer the VS pool party though.

Pools.....the main pool at the VB was more an issue with sunbeds, we did have to save them early to get our group altogether, but probably fine if you just need 2. Never needed to save them at the VS. Constant supply of towels at both.

Waterpark.......the huge Cobra slide at the VB but other than that quite similar slides.

Kids club.....didn't use either but the VB one bigger and has a larger funfair right next to it, whereas the VS is separate.

Beach.........wider bigger beach at the VB and less rocks in the sea. Piers very similar with adult only and family

To sum our holidays up.....the VB was more active as so much going on, loved every minute but came home exhausted! Where the VS felt more relaxing. But that was our choice, there's plenty of places at the VB away from the activities where you'll get peace and quiet and can relax. The VS is noticeably more modern as it's already had its refurb but this doesn't really affect your stay. I would like to return to the VB once the refurb has been done, but this seems to be on hold at the moment, maybe during winter 2018/19?

Like you we wanted to try the VB, and although there were things we preferred at the VS I can fully understand why the VB has so many return guests.

I've also looked at the Turkbuku and the price is coming up cheaper than the others for next year but its much smaller and doesn't seem to have the facilities of the others. I think there's only a couple of a la cartes.

Hi thanks so much for all that info as always a superb informative review/answer. Like you, having looked at all of them and been to two , voyage Sorgun and belek are the two that stand out. As Sorgun has always been at about the top of our budget. V/B is costing quite a bit more at the moment. But if it's worth it i don't mind paying the extra. And fully understand with all hotels and resorts are different and as it has been said before we'd all like to take something from all to make the perfect one lol. But you have sold V/B for me with the entertainment .As that was one of the main reasons we liked V/S. So think I need to bite the bullet and book V/B lol.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to give it a try! But it's always hard not to compare!

The entertainment was the best we'd had anywhere, and there are some other extras that the VS doesn't have, but I think it's probably just the fact that Belek hotels are always more expensive is why it costs more.

I feel sure that if you researched these other hotels, you would get a much better bargain and perhaps find something that you even prefer to the 2 you are debating about.

Em I thought you'd be o tested to know what my friend thought of Hemera. We have holidayed together the last few years but she visited here with her family 4 years ago.

Of course it could be different now but just her opinion.

Very good but totally catered for Germans or whatever!..English was always last language spoken at shows etc. Lovely hotel but not brilliant amenities

This is the problem! I'm normally all booked by now but nothing is really jumping out at me, at least nothing in budget! I was reading your comments about the entertainment at the Arcadia the other night and considered that, but really not keen on Belek for next year! Decisions decisions! I am enjoying the research though, and the later we book the shorter the countdown!

I personally perfer the VB yet strangely I found entertainment better at VS

But they are both excellent. A lot can depend on what week you go and the people you meet

Side is a lovely town, has a better beach than Belek but I really do find the Belek hotels in general a better class of hotel. They just seem to offer a lot more for you buck

I thought VB was ticking all of our boxes tbh when I compared the two as I felt there would be more British guests in October for our boys. VS seems to attract a more varied group of nationalities and also seems a wee bit away from Side. I have looked at the other hotels on offer in that area but none appeal as much.

So my question is this, which hotel out of these two or others you can recommend, will meet the following criteria:

Very good standard of food with choices at lunch and good a la cartes.

Lots of places to go in the evening, not just the pool bar with music etc. (Totally spoiled here by Limak Arcadia)

Two bedroom rooms of a very good standard.

Not too far from resort centre so we can go out if we fancy it.

I was thinking about your comment about their appetite as my own son was / is still the same - they want snacks etc on top of regular meal times ! All Inclusive you can budget and then it is up to you if you spend more.They can dine with friends and no need to give them money. Plus add on ice creams and soft drinks ....

Not at all. Nerja is an option for next summer, a possibilty as my brother and sister in law will be over from Australia and they would like the more Spanish fee.

We have a week in October however and this is the one causing the dilemmas:))

The Barut Lara would be a good option as well as all the Restaurants are included and we even got to use the BBQ one in early November. Great drink package to !
