Visitors to the UAE can now come to the country on a three-month visa, Khaleej Times can reveal.

A call centre executive at the Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) said that people who want to visit the UAE for 90 days can make use of the opportunity. “They should consult their travel agents who will help them in issuing the 90-days visit visa,” said the call centre executive.

According to industry experts, this visa was introduced by the end of May 2023, allowing visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days. The visa can be extendable within the country at an additional cost based on the service provider.

Residents are not aware of this three-month visa, Libin Varghese, sales director at Rooh Tourism LLC, said.

According to industry experts, this was reintroduced by the end of May 2023, allowing visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days.

Different types of entry permits

“There are two types of entry permits — a tourist visa or a leisure visa and a visit visa. A tourist visa is issued for 30 or 60 days. The visit visa is issued for 90 days,” said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior manager for inbound and outbound operations at Regal Tours Worldwide, adding that this extended visit visa complements the existing tourist visa options, which includes a 30-day or 60-day stay, offering travellers greater flexibility in planning their itineraries.

The 30-day and the recently introduced 60-day tourist visas have long been popular among visitors seeking shorter stays in the UAE, providing ample time to explore the country's iconic landmarks and indulge in world-class shopping and dining experiences.

Who can apply?

Industry experts said that anyone can apply for this visa. “Currently, we have not received much inquiry about it, and visitors who prefer this entry permit are their family members residing in the UAE, as they want to spend a longer time. Take for instance, if a child who is studying in his home country visits UAE during vacations or parents of a resident,” said Varghese.

The fee for a 90-day-visit visa varies depending on your issuing travel expert, with a starting price of Dh1,500 and can go up to Dh2,000, which can even be extended within the country. “The exact details of extension has not been announced as the visa was introduced a few days ago,” said Varghese.

Documents required

According to Subair, one must submit the following documents if planning to apply for the long term visit visa:

  • Recent passport-size coloured photograph
  • Passport copy
  • Processing time

“Once a person applies for this visa, it may take up to five working days. But we can even receive it in two days,” said Subair.

Visit Visa Renewal

The Interior Ministry is said to be re-implementing its decision (No.337) issued in 2004, so as to enable all those with visit visa to get an extension. All companies and visitors are required to submit applications and process transactions prior to expiry date of their visa period to avoid violations. This new rule is said to be applicable on all entry permits, including transit visas, short-term visas (30 days) and long-term visas (90 days), visas for medical treatment and residence visas.

Earlier, the visit visa holders had to actually leave the country on expiry of their visa terms and they had to stay out of the country for at least one month before being allowed to re-enter on another visit visa. Now, as part of the new procedure, visit visa holders need not exit the country, and the visa status amendment can be done electronically, without any complications. They are required to pay fees of Dh.570 to facilitate the transactions and can stay for a month more without having to exit the country.

The Deputy Director of General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai, Obaid bin Suroor, has confirmed that these decisions would be implemented by all immigration departments.

Mandatory insurance cover for spouses, elderly parents during visa renewal

According to Dubai’s mandatory Health Insurance Law, it is now mandatory for residents to have health insurance cover by 30th June 2016, as the sponsors of residents found without an insurance cover at the time of visa renewal, will have to pay fines beyond the deadline. This implies that sponsors of spouses, elderly parents and children with special needs, should obtain insurance cover for dependents, even if the visa is not due for renewal prior to 30th June 2016. The law emphasizes that every Dubai resident be covered, and in cases of spouses, elderly parents, children with special needs, housemaids and house boys, it is the legal responsibility of the sponsor to ensure that they possess health insurance cover. In case of violation of the law, the sponsor will be legally held liable for the same.

Tourist Visa

Tourist Visa is a special category of Visa under Visit Visa, which could be obtained for individual tourists from East and West Europe, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Albania, Hellenic Republic, St. Lucia, St. Kitts Navis, Cuba, Mexico, Bermuda, Cuba, Guyana, Belize, French Guiana, Martinique, Barbuda and Antigua, Kingston, St. Vincent, Palao and other non-defined American nationalities, South Africa, Thailand, China, Singapore, Cyprus and Malta.

The Tourist Visa permits the holder to stay for duration of 30 days. The visa requires sponsorship of hotels and tour operators who bring in visitors from the said countries. The renewal and visa processing fee of tourist visas depends on travel agency that covers for you.

Over-stay fine

If a tourist or a business visitor overstays, the fine would be Dh.200 for first day, followed by Dh.100 for every consecutive day. The fine can be paid at Immigration , or at the airport when visitor exits.

Multiple Entry Visa

Multiple-Entry Visas are issue to business visitors who have a relationship with either a multi-national or other reputed local company, and are frequent visitors to the UAE. This sort of visa is valid for period of six months from the date of issue with a 30-day duration period. The validity is non-renewable and the visa costs Dh.2120.

Those seeking Multiple Entry Visas will have to enter UAE on a visit visa and obtain the Multiple Entry Visa while in the country. The visa is stamped on the passport.

German Citizens : The German Citizens (tourists or business people) need to apply to the UAE embassy in Germany for a one or two year multiple-entry visa. No sponsor is required. The maximum duration of stay should not exceed three months a year.

US Citizens : The US Citizens (tourists or businessmen) can apply to the UAE embassies in the US for one to ten year multiple-entry visas. A sponsor is required and the visa will be granted free of charge. The maximum duration of stay should not exceed six months per visit.

Transit Visa - 96-hour Visa Transit Passengers

The transit passengers stopping in at Dubai International Airport for a minimum of 8 hours are eligible for the 96-hour Transit Visa, provided they are sponsored only by the Airlines, and their applications confirm onward booking to a 3rd destination. Transit visa is issued for a non-renewable 14 days at a fee of Dh.220, and is issued to businessmen and tourists under company sponsorship, or through a hotel licensed to operate in the UAE.

For transit passengers or those holding special permits, or for a visit or mission, the passport or the document should be valid for a minimum of three months.

Citizens from countries such as Afghanistan, Somalia, Niger, Iraq and Yemen are not eligible for 96-hour visa on arrival, while Syrian and Egyptian applicants should have Dh.10000 to sponsor family on visit visa.

NOTE: Egyptian and Syrian applicants should have Dh 10000 to sponsor family on visit visa.

Kindly note : Visa rules are subject to sudden change without warning. The UAE Embassy in your country or the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD), the relevant authority in the UAE, is the only source of information that can be relied upon. The validity period for a free visit visa on arrival change often. Therefore, visit the website http://dnrd.ae/en/Pages/Home.aspx from time to time, to keep yourself updated about the changing rules.

Understanding Dubai Visas

Dubai is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the world. Every year, millions of people flock to the city to explore its stunning architecture, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture. To enter Dubai, visitors need a valid visa that permits them to stay in the country for a specific period. Dubai visas come in different types and categories, and their validity varies depending on the purpose of the visit and the length of stay. In this article, we will explore what "valid until" means on a Dubai visa and other important information related to Dubai visa validity.

Dubai Visa Validity: What Does It Mean?

The "valid until" date on a Dubai visa refers to the last day on which the visa holder can enter Dubai. It is a crucial aspect of the visa, and visitors must ensure that they enter the country before the validity expires. The validity period of a Dubai visa is determined by the purpose of the visit and the type of visa. In general, Dubai visas are issued for different durations, ranging from 14 days to 90 days. The validity period starts from the date of issuance and ends on the "valid until" date, after which the visa becomes invalid.

Types of Dubai Visas

Dubai visas can be broadly classified into two categories: tourist visas and residency visas. Tourist visas are issued for people who wish to visit Dubai for tourism, business, or family visits, and they are valid for a limited period. Residency visas, on the other hand, are issued for people who want to live and work in Dubai for an extended period. They are valid for up to three years and can be extended further. Within these categories, there are different types of visas, such as short-term visas, long-term visas, multiple-entry visas, and single-entry visas.

Valid Until: Time Frame for Dubai Visas

The "valid until" period of a Dubai visa depends on the type of visa and the purpose of the visit. Tourist visas are the most common type of visa for visitors to Dubai, and their validity period ranges from 14 days to 90 days. The short-term tourist visa is valid for 14 days, while the long-term tourist visa is valid for 30 or 90 days. Transit visas, which allow visitors to stay in Dubai for a few days while in transit to another country, are valid for 96 hours. Residency visas, which are issued for people who want to live and work in Dubai, are valid for up to three years.

Maximum Stay on Dubai Visas

The maximum stay on a Dubai visa is determined by the validity period and the terms of the visa. Visitors must leave Dubai before the visa expires, even if they have not used up the maximum stay allowed. For example, a 30-day tourist visa allows visitors to stay in Dubai for up to 30 days, but they must leave before the "valid until" date, even if they have only stayed for a few days. Failure to leave Dubai before the visa expires can result in penalties and legal consequences.

Visa Expiration: Consequences and Penalties

If a Dubai visa holder fails to leave Dubai before the "valid until" date, they will be considered an overstayer and may face penalties and legal consequences. Overstaying a Dubai visa can result in fines, deportation, and a ban on entering the country in the future. The penalties for overstaying a Dubai visa vary depending on the length of overstay, and they can range from a few hundred to several thousand dirhams.

Renewing Dubai Visas: What to Know

Visitors who wish to stay in Dubai beyond the validity period of their visa can renew their visa before it expires. Visa renewal is subject to certain conditions, and visitors must meet the eligibility criteria to qualify for renewal. The renewal process can be done online or through a visa processing center, and it usually takes a few days to process. Visitors who overstay their visa cannot renew it and must leave Dubai before the expiry date to avoid penalties and legal consequences.

Dubai Visa Validity Extension: Requirements

Visa holders who wish to extend the validity period of their Dubai visa must meet the eligibility criteria and provide the necessary documents. The requirements for visa extension vary depending on the type of visa and the purpose of the visit. Visitors can apply for a visa extension online or through a visa processing center. The extension process can take a few days to a few weeks, and visitors must ensure that they apply before the visa expires to avoid penalties and legal consequences.

Dubai Visa Validity and Travel Plans

Visitors must plan their travel itinerary based on the validity period of their Dubai visa. They must enter Dubai before the "valid until" date and leave before the visa expires to avoid penalties and legal consequences. Visitors who wish to stay in Dubai for an extended period can apply for a visa extension or renewal before the expiry date. It is important to note that visa extensions and renewals are subject to certain conditions, and visitors must meet the eligibility criteria to qualify.

Valid Until: Impact on UAE Residency

The "valid until" date on a Dubai visa is a crucial aspect of the visa, and it can have an impact on UAE residency. Visitors who wish to live and work in Dubai for an extended period must apply for a residency visa before their Dubai visa expires. Residency visas are valid for up to three years and can be renewed further. Visitors who overstay their Dubai visa will face penalties and legal consequences, which can impact their chances of obtaining a residency visa in the future.

Types of Dubai Tourist and Visit Visas:

When it comes to visiting Dubai, there are several types of visas available. The most common ones include the short-term tourist visa and the long-term visit visa.

  • The short-term tourist visa allows visitors to stay in Dubai for up to 30 days and is typically suitable for leisure travel. With this type of visa, you can enjoy the different travel destinations, munch on their delicacies, and discover the unique blend of cultures you can only see in this rich Gulf country.
  • Meanwhile, the long-term visit visa is designed for those who plan to stay in Dubai for an extended period, such as visiting family or doing business. This is perfect for those with family members residing in Dubai who want to stay longer than the usual 30-day period. It is also advisable to get this visa if you are a company owner or work for a company currently operating in the country.

Dubai visa fees structure

A Dubai tourist visa fee may vary, and it would greatly depend on several factors:

  • Duration of stay
  • Type of visa you’re getting

The 30-day single-visit visa fee now costs around AED 550-900. On the other hand, travelers getting the 60-day single-entry tourist visa are said to pay around AED 800-1000.

It is also important to note and expect certain hidden costs, like visa processing fees and other service charges. So make sure that you have the updated and correct details of fees associated with the requirements. Visit the official Dubai government website or get in touch with reputable visa agencies, as they can assist you with any queries you may have regarding this matter.

Visa Extension Fees:

If you plan to extend your Dubai trip beyond the allowed period, then you need to know the associated extension fees for the visa. However, this would depend on the type of visa and how long you intend to extend your stay.

You can check for updated information from reputable and official sources so you will have an exact idea of what requirements are needed and how much you need to pay extra for the extension of your visa. You can also see the table above for the 30-day extension visa fee.

What is the validity of Tourist and Visit Visas?

The Dubai tourist and visit visa validity actually depends on your chosen visa type.

  • A short-term tourist visa is valid for 30 days from the date you arrive in Dubai.
  • On the other hand, long-term visas allow travelers 60 days from the entry date to enter the country.

Reminder: Always check the validity period for your chosen visa so you won’t have any issues with regulation compliance, which can hamper your plans for a seamless travel experience.

New 60 Days Dubai Visa: Top Advantages and Requirements

Last Updated: November 11, 2022

Dubai-Visa

The Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) recently announced changes in its visa rules, collectively known as the Advanced Visa System. It came into effect from 3rd October 2022. One of the major reforms as part of it is with regards to the tourist visa such as the 60 days Dubai Visa. Accordingly, people who are now traveling to Dubai or the UAE can now look forward to longer stays accompanied by stress-free visa extension procedures. Come know about this new tourist visa in detail.

New Visa Uae Rules – Background & Overview

The new visa rule is officially referred to as the UAE Entry and Residence Scheme. The main objective behind this new scheme (with 10 types of visa reforms) is to offer more resourceful choices and enhanced flexibility for those traveling to the UAE for diverse purposes including tourism, job search, business etc. The new rule is also beneficial for the UAE residents as the eligibility criteria for the 10-year Golden Visa has now been relieved with the possibility of its easy renewal, thus attracting more beneficiaries like entrepreuners, investors, and creative minds to settle down in the UAE.

As for the visitors traveling to the UAE on frequent basis, they can benefit from the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa that allows them to stay up to a period of 90 days in a single visit, with the flexibility to extend their Dubai stay. But, the overall stay must not go beyond 180 days in a year. The best thing is that you don’t need a host to proceed with its application procedures anymore. There is also Green Residency Visa valid for five years; it does not require any sponsor for its application and is most ideal for freelancers, highly skilled workers, or those who are self-employed.

When it comes to the short term tourist visas, an inevitable change is that all entry visas will be valid for 60 days instead of the previous 30 days visa. This is applicable to both single-entry and multiple-entry Dubai tourist visas. More details follow in the subsequent sections. Apart from these, the new visa rules cater to business people as well as those traveling to Dubai in search of employment, thanks to the dedicated Business Entry Visa and Job Exploration Visa. They all don’t require a host or sponsor for its application, however, conditions apply.

Know More About 60 Days Tourist Visa

Till October 2022, people traveling to Dubai for tourism didn’t have a dedicated visa for the purpose and they mostly applied for a 30-day visa. But, according to the new visa reforms, visitors can now apply for a 60 days tourist visa. As with other types of visas, it too indicates an official permit that allows its holders to enter the UAE. It may be a short-term visa, but the renewed changes will give you more convenience and time (i.e. 60 days) to explore Dubai’s mix of leisure, shopping, entertainment and sightseeing attractions. This is, apparently, double-fold the previously allowed duration of just 30 days.

Who Is 60 Days Dubai Visa For?

60 Days Dubai Visa is suitable for any foreigner tourists who are not qualified for any kind of visa exemptions, such as visa on arrival or visa-free travel.

Benefits Of 60 Days Dubai Visa

  • First of all, you don’t need a host or a sponsor to apply for your 60 days Dubai tourist visa, making it an absolutely hassle-free visa option.
  • As opposed to the previous 30 days visa, it allows its holders for an extended stay in Dubai, giving you ample time to delight in the wonders of the UAE.
  • You can apply for a 60 days single entry visa or a multiple-entry visa.
  • Be it single entry or multiple entry 60 days visa, it can be easily renewed for a further 60 days.
  • As it gives you full 60 days in the UAE with the option for its extension, this visa type is a safe choice for those looking for a longer stay in Dubai or until they arrange for their residence or employment visa.

60 Days Single Entry Visa

If you are traveling to Dubai for a specific period of time, a 60-day single entry Dubai is most apt for you. As its name hints, it is valid for single-entry or one-time entry only. This means once you enter and then exit the UAE, your visa will not be valid anymore. This is applicable even if you leave the country before the validity period of your visa ends. In other words, you will have to apply for a new visa for your next Dubai visit, even if it is after a week or a month.

60 Days Multiple Entry Visa

If your Dubai visit entails you to travel in and out of the UAE several times over a period of 60 days, you will ideally need a multiple-entry Dubai tourist visa. It, precisely, allows you to enter and exit the country repeatedly or any number of times during the validity period of your Dubai visa which is 60 days. This indicates, as long as your multiple-entry is valid, you don’t have to reapply for a visa every time you travel out of the country and then return. Its application procedures are more or less the same as that of a single entry Dubai tourist visa, however, comes with slight variation in its pricing.

  • All foreigners who are not eligible for any kind of visa exemptions can apply for a 60 days Dubai tourist visa
  • This visa is valid for full 60 days and can be extended for 60 days.
  • A female under the age of 18 years cannot apply for a Dubai visa if she is traveling alone or is not accompanied by her parents or guardian.
  • As with the previous 30 days visa, this new visa also offers a grace period of nine days. Once the grace period is over, a penalty of AED 200 will be charged on the first day of overstay and AED 100 per day of your subsequent overstay in the UAE.

This is just a tourist visa. There are different visas for job seekers and students.

If my Dubai visa gets rejected, how soon can I apply for another visa? Or do I have to go for an appeal process for the visa?

You can immediately apply for another visa after rejection but if you have appealed the rejection, you will have to wait for visa authorities to tell you the exact reason for rejection through a letter.

Abu Dhabi: People from outside the UAE can get a six-month multiple-entry visit visa, renewable for another six months by submitting an application through the e-channels system of the Ministry of Interior, an official spokesperson from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) told Gulf News .

The authority clarified that the six-month multiple-entry visit visa is meant for all categories of investors, entrepreneur, talented professionals and outstanding students interested in long-term residency visas.

The six-month multiple entry visas allows them to explore the local UAE markets and initiate their documentation works for the long-term visas.

Public service

This facility is available as a public service that does not require the applicant to sign in. Government officials continue to process such applications since the Cabinet announcement for different categories of long-term five and ten year visas for investors and talented individuals on May 1.

“The purpose of issuing the six-month validity visa with multiple travels is to enable those wishing to apply for a long term residency visas to visit UAE and explore the available opportunities in terms of investment, scientific researches and creation,” the official said.

Thus they can take the decision of applying for a residency visa or not.

Those who get this visa will be treated as residents, regarding the issuance of Emirates ID cards so that they could be able to complete investment procedures and all transactions required under the category of application, he said.

Ultimately, they can get a long term visa after satisfying the established requirements [for each category], he added.

Responding to Gulf News queries, the official stated that “the submitted applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of members of the relevant government ministries and authorities.”

NAT VISA UAE-1563356602497

“This committee is mandated to decide whether the submitted application satisfies conditions or not, based on a number of standards approved by the committee,” the official said.

However, he said that “any number of applications submitted, can be accepted for the indicated categories, and that all applicants who satisfy the set conditions and standards will benefit with no hinders.”

On May 15, the authority announced three new services: a six-month visa with several trips to complete the procedures for residency of an investor, a six-month visa with several trips to complete long-term residency procedures for both entrepreneurs and outstanding students, a six-month visa with only one trip to complete the residency procedures for the talented individuals.

Even the authority said it received around 6,000 applications within 15 days of its announcements from investors and entrepreneurs in the first week of taking in applications for long-term residency visas.

The visit visa helps them identify opportunities available in their field of interest and allow them to study their options and take the most appropriate decision for themselves and their family members.
