Movenpick Misr Nile Cruise

Explore the wonders of the ancient Egyptian world in luxury and historic charm on the SS Misr by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.

Movenpick Misr Nile Cruise was actually originally built by the British Royal Navy in 1918 and later converted into a luxury Nile steamer for King Farouk. The SS Misr Nile Cruise is a true time capsule that rekindles the nostalgia of a golden age. A Nile cruise experience with true luxury accommodation, cuisine and service.

SS Misr offers 16 cabins and eight suites along with a luxurious bar and lounge, restaurants, and a large sun deck with a swimming pool.

At Movenpick Misr Nile Cruise, we believe in indulgence done right, treating our guests to deliciously fresh cuisine, abundant treats and flavours that are unmistakably Mövenpick, all served with a generous portion of heartfelt care.

Please note: the order or content of your itinerary may be amended due to lock closures, low water levels or any other unforeseeable circumstances. Due to the increasing number of boats on the Nile, at some docking points boats are moored side by side obstructing the view from cabins. Very occasionally, due to operational difficulties a change of vessel can occur with a ‘like for like’ replacement offered. However, the sightseeing itinerary will remain the same.

During your cruise you can choose to join the professional Egyptologist guided excursions, relax on the boat or disembark & spend your time exploring Egypt your own way!

Movenpick Misr Nile Cruise is one of our most luxurious selections for an exceptional Nile steamer cruise to enjoy all the best of the unique history of Egypt.

How do I book a tour if I have special offer?

For booking a special offer, we suggest that you view the “Special Offers” page on the website to view the itineraries that we commonly offer. If you intend to make any changes or customize your travel itinerary, you can request a quote by sending us an email at: [email protected]

How many months in advance should be my travel booking?

We recommend that your travel bookings should be made 06- 08 months in advance, especially if you are traveling between October – April (high tourist season) and May – December, the New Year holiday season. We highly recommend booking your tour in advance. However, in the case of late/last-minute bookings, we should be able to accommodate them depending on hotel availability.

Can I buy an Air Ticket through you also?

No, we don’t sell both international and domestic ticketing.

How will I be picked up from the Airport?

You will be picked up by our representative at the arrival hall of the particular International Airport of Egypt. You should not leave the Airport without our representative if you are to be picked up. Our representative will be holding a welcome board with your name on it. If you are part of a group, the name of the group will be mentioned on the welcome board.

We arrange guides who can speak German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, or Chinese. Tour guides will help you not only in your sightseeing but also can help you understand Egypt better and give you useful tips for your Journey to Egypt!

How can I come in contact with local people during our travel in Egypt?

Egyptians are hospitable and friendly people. Most of the people you talk to you will find friendly. Always speak to the people you feel like talking to. Avoid people who are too eager to help you or want you to buy you something.

What is advisable to eat and drink in Egypt?

We advise our guests to drink bottled water and bottled drinks. Coffee Tea should be taken hot. If you are traveling without a guide in Egypt you may ask the waiter not to put any chilies in the ordered dish. It is suggested to stick to only cooked foods and to eat fresh fruits after removing their skin.

How much should I give as tipping while travelling in Egypt?

Tipping is a way of life in Egypt and bus drivers and tour guides expect it at restaurants. Having said this, you still retain the right to the tip and it is highly dependent on your satisfaction with the services received. Here is a rough guide to tipping: A bus driver for a group day tour: LE 150,- Guide for a group day tour: LE 200,- The bus driver for a private day tour: LE 100,- Guide for a private day tour: LE 150,- Baggage handling: LE 05, – per bag per trip These tips will be given to the driver, and guide after the services. Nile Cruise: The Tip is about 3 to 5 US$ Per Person per Night. For Example, if you are 2 Persons and have a 4 Nights Cruise your Tip Amount will be 4 US$ x 4 Nights x 2 Persons = 32 US$. So you Leave 32 US$ at the End of your Cruise Trip.

Which currency is used in Egypt?

Most foreign currencies, cash, or traveler’s cheque can easily be changed in Egypt. There are many exchange bureaus in the larger cities but they mainly only deal in cash. Visa and MasterCard are suitable for cash advances and American Express JCB cards and Euro cards can be used in a wide range of shops and hotels. If you travel to lesser tourist areas while touring Egypt, the best currencies are US dollars, Pounds Sterling, and Egyptian Pounds. Banking is usually open Sunday to Thursday: 0830 to 1400 hours.

Can I pay in Euro, US $ or through credit cards in Egypt?

All the major currencies including Euro and US $ are accepted in Egypt. Also, all the major credit cards (Visa, Masters, and American Express) are accepted in Egypt.

How do we settle the payment? Is there an advance deposit required?

We need 50% of the total tour cost at the time of the confirmation of the tour. This is to be sure that you’re booking a genuine one and we can go ahead with the reservations. The rest of the Payment must be upon arrival on a Cash Basis.

The best time to travel Egypt

Deciding when to come to Egypt depends a lot on where you want to go. Everywhere south of Cairo is uncomfortably hot in the summer months (June-August), especially Luxor and Aswan, so winter (December-February) is the best time to visit these areas. Summer is also the time when the Mediterranean coast is at its most crowded, but winter in Cairo can get pretty cool. March to May or September to November is the best time to enjoy the warm days without the crush of bodies on the beaches and the midday heat of high summer.

What is a private tour package?

Our Private Tour Package means you will have your own private local tour guide, private vehicle, and private driver for your group. You don’t have to share the vehicle with others. Your tour guide will take care of only your group. With the help of your private tour guide.

If you are traveling with your family or a group of friends, a private tour for your group is ideal. As you will have more people in the group, the price won’t be much higher than a join-in group tour. It is a good way to save money and enjoy ultimate service.

Can I get a visa on arrival in Egypt?

Passports should be valid for at least six months after you depart from the country. Please do not bring an almost full or almost expired passport. Visa arrangements are the responsibility of the traveler, and requirements are subject to change by the local authorities.

We recommend that you contact your closest Egyptian consulate or embassy for current information about your nationality.

In general official advice is that all nationalities obtain their Egypt visas in advance, as we cannot guarantee that you can get them at the airport. Or you can get An online e-visa . Please do not use any other website as many scam sites are offering Egypt e-visas.

In practice, however, many nationalities (including British and European, Australian, New Zealand, USA, and Canadian) can and do obtain their visas on arrival at Cairo airport. The process is much quicker and simpler, the cost is currently US$25 p/p and must be paid in hard currency (i.e. GBP, USD, or EUR) – you’ll be given a change in local currency if necessary.

There are no forms to fill in and you don’t need to bring passport photos. Visas are issued at one of the bank desks in the immigration hall before you get to passport control. Our representative will have met you by this stage and will assist with the process.

All African & Indian nationals, and some others, will need to obtain their visas in advance.

Hi, I have stayed several times in your hotel and always had good experience. Nice location, good hotel, perfect SPA, but last time I was surprised in negative way. I was placed in room 317, carpet was dirty, like someone had throw up, or a lot of soup sticks. Anyway, I asked to switch my room and I got 425, It was cleaner, but also some spots on the carpet. Anyway, You have good location, and you have good SPA, but in my opinion price level should remain below 200eur per night for standard rooms. 150-170€. I paid 220 and in my opinion it is overprized. I stay 20-30 night per year in hotels. Just my opinion.

Very Good hospitality place in a good district

Happy to choose this hotel, quiet, clean and friendly service, I always look to the bathrooms in any hotel before I book and they are very clean. the administration, guest services and support staff is all knowledgeable in anything you want.. they are helped me to reserve alot of places and prepared for me more than program for my trip. Also I would like to mention Elizabeth specially she's the best person in the hotel, smart. From my arrival I told her I want to exchange my money so she came with me outside and guided me and provided me how to open bank account, I asked for list of things to do in city restaurants, theaters, events, shopping places. she know everything. They also helped me to extend my check out for two hours the hotel is located in a busy street but you will not gona hear any sound, near to metro station so also it's very easy to walk in the city and go to the red square..

Was refused for a one hour late check-out. Believe, loyalty is a two way street, from the customer side and from the premises. I am sure the Hotel have enough resources to get the room ready for other customer in an hour time.

Dear Sergey, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Mövenpick Moscow Taganskaya. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Unfortunately, due to high load, we will not always be able to confirm late check-out. I do hope we will have another chance in the not-so-distant future to try to change your impression of us. On board the SS Misr by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, see the beauties of the old world in comfort and vintage charm.

The SS Misr, which was originally built by the British Royal Navy in 1918 and then transformed into a luxurious Nile schooner for King Farouk, is a true time capsule that revives nostalgia for a bygone era while offering accommodations, food, and services that are truly luxurious.

Facilities & Rooms: The 16 cabins and 8 suites of the SS Misr by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts are designed to evoke the eras of Louis XV and XVI, the British and Othoman Empires, and the wonderfully cool sophistication of Art Deco. Every cabin and suite has a private balcony with a beautiful view of the Nile, as well as a private bathroom with a bathtub, air conditioning, a hairdryer, a minibar, satellite TV, an internal phone, a safe, two life jackets, and free wifi.

Food and entertainment: The atmosphere of regal brilliance is completed with excellent dining, crystal, fine china, and immaculate service from staff dressed as during King Farouk’s reign. Black and white photographs of the royal family and significant historical moments in Egypt’s history cover one wall of the lavishly elegant Marasem Restaurant, allowing diners to ‘experience the past’ while still indulging in exquisite fare. Drinks before supper are usually had at the English-style Dhabiyyat Bar. After-dinner beverages are best enjoyed in the Saraya Lounge, where you may unwind and listen to live piano music. The Tashrifa lobby, sundecks, and pool on the steamship are the ideal places to unwind after exploring the Upper Nile’s attractions. A cocktail reception is part of a particular leisure program that is offered.

How guest reviews work

Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.

You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.

We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.

Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

  • Politically sensitive comments
  • Promotional content
  • Illegal activities
  • Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
  • Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
  • Spam and fake content
  • Animal cruelty
  • Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
  • Any violation of our review guidelines.

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Guidelines and standards for Reviews

These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.

Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).
