Then let’s continue with our travel blog content strategy.

What Should I Post On My Travel Blog?

Writer’s block for bloggers is a very real thing, as is being confused on what to actually post to see growth.

So, before we dive into the list of travel blog topics , let’s discuss how to determine what to post on your blog.

One smart tactic is starting with a mission statement. You can use the template “I help [group of people] do [how you help].”

From there, you can pinpoint the best travel topics to fulfill that mission and even come up with a few travel blog categories.

For instance, if your mission is to help women feel confident traveling solo, you might write a blog post about how to travel solo in Paris or a guide to overcoming fear when you’re scared to travel alone .

Feeling stuck? You can use a tool like Jasper’s Blog Post Topic Ideas Template for quick and easy help. This tool uses artifical intelligence to instantly generate a list of topics that can engage your audience.

Also, if you’re curious how to write blog posts quickly , Jasper can help you create amazing content almost instantly (though it’s recommended to edit your articles to add a human element).

120+ Travel Blog Post Ideas For Engaging Content

To come up with the following list, I looked at popular blog post ideas related to travel.

Keep in mind, this list is in no way exhaustive. There truly are a limitless number of travel blog topic ideas that are possible.

Moreover, this list is customizable. You can always tweak any of the travel blog post titles mentioned below to better fit your own niche and audience.

For instance, if an idea mentions compiling a list of travel yoga mats, but you don’t cover yoga, consider what relevant piece of gear you can swap in, like sleeping bags, nutritious TSA-friendly snacks, or camera gear.

Once you’ve narrowed down what you’d like to write about, use a blog content planner to stay organized. You can also follow this strategy on how to plan a year of content in one week to help you save time.

Where To Find New Travel Blog Post Ideas

After learning how to start a travel blog and make money , it’s important to regularly publish interesting articles that continuously bring you traffic and help you grow your income.

But, maybe you’re wondering how to come up with blog post ideas that people actually read .

Luckily, I have a few tips for this.

Note that for a full overview of how to create a content plan that aligns with your overall goals, I recommend taking my free Profitable Travel Blog Makeover , a four-day course that takes you from blog branding to monetization.

So earlier in the post I discussed starting with a mission statement that guides your content.

Along with coming up with travel blog post ideas from your own imagination, you can also utilize:

Jasper AI (click for a 10,000-word free trial).

Jasper uses the power of artificial intelligence to help you outline blog posts, create content, and come up with blog post ideas.

You can use the Blog Post Topic Ideas Template and simply enter your:

  • company name
  • product description
  • tone of voice
  • how many ideas your need

Boom — Jasper will provide you a list of ideas for travel topics to write about. From there, you can favorite the ones you like to help the tool better get to know what you’re looking for.

Keysearch  (use code JESSIEONAJOURNEY for 20% off!).

This is a powerful keyword research tool that can help you optimize your blog content to rank higher in search engine rankings.

You’ll also be able to input desired keywords to see related keywords — as well as questions people have about your keyword in the “Content Assistant” section. These can also be used as travel blog post ideas.

Like tutorials?

Check out this short video to see how to find micro niche keywords and relevant keywords you can actually rank for using Keysearch:

Niche Facebook groups & forums .

Pop into a Facebook group or Reddit forum related to your niche and see what people are discussing. These can make for great travel related content ideas.

Google Trends .

Monitor search trends over a given time. This can help you post about things people are truly talking about.

Pinterest Trends .

See what topics are trending on Pinterest. This tool can help your content marketing efforts by helping you get more traffic to your Pinterest pins, which translates into more visitors to your blog content.

These are just a few of many strategies for coming up with engaging travel post ideas.

How To Write A Travel Blog Post Without Traveling

One common question many travel bloggers have:

How do I write a travel blog without traveling?

Of course, there will be times when travel isn’t possible.

This doesn’t mean you need to stop creating content.

Instead, consider how you might cover where you live in a way that would be interesting to travelers.

For instance, I have loads of New York City travel content because I know that even though it’s not a travel destination to me, it is to other people. Plus, being a local allows me a unique perspective not every blogger can provide.

You might also think about “armchair travel” content; blog post ideas that have a travel theme but can be enjoyed without leaving home.

A few examples of this include roundups of short travel stories , cultural recipes, solo staycation ideas , and other travel at home posts that align with your mission.

These strategies are also great travel blog ideas for beginners, who may be looking to jumpstart their blog with content even if they’re not traveling.

How To Write A Catchy Blog Post Title

Now, here’s the thing when it comes to coming up with ideas for travel blog posts:

Even if you have an amazing article, if your title isn’t enticing, it likely won’t get read.

Luckily, there is a free Headline Analyzer tool from CoSchedule that can help with this.

Basically, it looks at your headline to ensure that:

  • It has a good mix of common, uncommon, emotional, and power words
  • The first and last three words of the headline are engaging (as these are the words people tend to focus on most)
  • It includes searchable keywords
  • It isn’t too generic
  • It’s the right length (about 60 characters)

How To Start A Travel Blog Post

Now that you have a big list of travel content ideas , it’s time to dive deeper into how to actually write your blog post.

One very important part of your travel blog post is the introduction, as this will affect whether someone continues reading or clicks away.

To help you engage readers right away, I recommend utilizing the APP Method; also known as Agree – Promise – Preview.

This copywriting technique, which I learned about from Backlinko , revolves around the idea that your introduction should first agree with the reader to make it clear you understand them.

From there, you make a promise to them — such as a solution to a problem or a benefit of some kind.

Finally, you provide a preview by sharing exactly what they’ll get out of reading the blog post.

This blog post on growing an email list as a blogger provides a nice example of the APP Formula in action.

It’s also shown here:

Promoting A Travel Blog Post Organically

There are many smart ways to increase blog traffic , a few of which I’ll outline here.

I recommend incorporating these into a content checklist so that you always know exactly what needs to be done before hitting publish on a blog post.

Optimize your blog posts for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) .

In my opinion, the best way to grow your blog traffic is to optimize it to rank in search results.

Once it ranks, you can continue to enjoy steady traffic for the foreseeable future.

Again, Keysearch makes it simple to both research if you can realistically rank for a keyword and then optimize your content for it. You can use code JESSIEONAJOURNEY for 20% off.

While Keysearch offers loads of tutorials on how to use their tool, here is a quick overview:

travel blog post ideas in Keysearch

Above is an example of me researching “places to hike on Long Island,” a keyword I currently rank in the first spot of Google for.

On the left, you can see a graphic comparing all of the first page posts — which provides information for determining whether it’s worth competing for the keyword or not.

For instance, you can see things like how your Domain Authority compares to the other posts already ranking, as well as if the other posts have optimized their title, description, and URL for the keyword you want to rank for.

Additionally, on the right, you can see other suggested keywords with important information related to how competitive they are and how often people search for them.

Keep in mind, this is just the main page of Keysearch. The tool has numerous other features for ranking your posts in Google, too.

Take your SEO to the next level.

Now, another tool that can help with optimizing your content to rank in organic search results is Surfer SEO .

Instead of simply giving you data about other sites that are ranking, Surfer SEO analyzes your website to make tailored recommendations for:

  • specific keywords to target
  • specific ways to optimize new content
  • specific changes to make to old content to improve its chances of ranking
  • specific missed opportunities for internal and external backlinks
  • specific on-page SEO optimizations (such as optimal word count, title length, image count, etc)
  • and much more

As you can see, the tool gets very specific.

In short, you’ll get a step-by-step SEO workflow that can help you grow your traffic and increase your rankings – no guesswork required!

Here is a quick tutorial going over some of Surfer SEO’s powerful features:

While you’ll need a paid plan to get everything I showcase in the video, they do offer a free AI Article Outline Generator to give you a small taste of the platform.

Promote your new travel blog post on your social media channels.

When you promote new content, I highly recommend weaving a story into your shares to increase engagement. Talk about why you wrote the post, how the topic has impacted you, and how it can benefit others.

To save time, you can use a tool like StoryChief to blast your new travel blog content across your blogging hubs, social media channels, and email newsletter with one click.

Speaking of email newsletters…

Understand how to promote your blog content to your email subscribers in an engaging way by utilizing storytelling email marketing .

Just like when sharing travel blog content on social media, it’s helpful to share a story to make your email even more valuable.

Moreover, if you have an automated email sequence set up for new subscribers you can add in your best blog posts to help the content continuously get traffic.

Looking for an email marketing software that’s feature-rich and intuitive — and includes automations?

Click here for a free one-month trial of ConvertKit (no credit card required!).

The platform is made for bloggers by bloggers. And once you sell products, they also offer a marketplace to help their users increase sales.

Choosing Blog Post Categories

In terms of the categories you put on a travel blog post, consider how you want to organize your content.

Typically, your categories will be your blog’s main themes, while your tags help further break them down.

For instance, you might have “North America” as a category and “USA” and “Canada” as tags.

How To Get Paid As A Travel Blogger

There are many ways to boost your travel blogging income — especially if you’re focusing on offering paid products, services, and experiences that fulfill your mission and that are an extension of your travel blog content.

Again, I highly recommend grabbing a seat in my free four-day travel blogging course if you want to learn how to make money blogging, though a few of the main ways I monetize my travel blog include:

Creating & selling online courses.

You’re already sharing knowledge in some way through your helpful blog content. Why not package up your wisdom into an online course that further helps your readers?

Personally, I use and recommend Teachable for creating online courses. That link gets you a two-week free trial, no credit card required!

You’ll have everything you need to be successful — including powerful training videos and support. It’s what I use to create and launch all of my online travel blogging courses .

Selling photo tours in NYC.

After having loads of readers ask me to show them around New York, I decided to get licensed as an NYC tour guide and start offering local experiences.

In fact, I’ve done so well selling these through my blog that I started a sister company, NYC Photo Journeys .

Working with brands.

This includes working on blogger brand collaborations as well as going on paid press trips and promoting partners in my travel blog content.

Affiliate marketing for travel bloggers .

When coming up with travel blog post ideas, I highly recommend you regularly add content optimized for affiliate sales to your publishing schedule. Here are some creative ways to promote affiliate links .

Running display ads on my travel blog.

Personally, I work with Mediavine for this. To see success, you should be publishing SEO-optimized articles and regularly updating older content so that it’s up-to-date.

How to Write Great Blog Post Headlines for Your Travel Blog

1. create great blog content.

To be able to  write great Blog Post Headlines for your Travel Blog , you will need to create great content.

What do we mean by that?

When creating great content, you’ll also be able to make a better promise. If the article itself is more attractive, the headline can become more attractive.

The other way around: You can’t make something out of nothing.

The following assets take a lot of time, thus if you’re able to create one of them and add them to your blog post headline, you’ll more likely attract more visitors to your travel blog.

  • Infographic;
  • Full guide.

You can also use some really cool fun fonts and backgrounds to make your travel blog look more appealing and engage a larger audience.

2. Use Numbers and Power Words in your Titles

Using numbers has been proven to help increase click-through rates. Odd numbers often work better than even numbers and the number 7 seems to be pretty special.

This is a pretty simple tip to include whenever appropriate.

Next to numbers and content assets we discussed in our first tip, there are power words that you can include. Here’s a shortlist that fits the Travel Industry.

List of Power Words to Include in your Blog Post Title

  • Step-by-Step
  • Little-Known

3. Add the right keywords in your Title and optimize for SEO

  • Including the time or season in your travel title can be helpful, especially if your content focuses on seasonal activities or destinations, like “Winter Wonderland: Exploring the Alps” or “Summer Escapes in Bali.”

Q: Can asking a question in a travel title be engaging?

  • Yes, posing a question in a travel title can engage readers by prompting curiosity and encouraging them to look for the answer in your content, such as “What Secrets Do the Ancient Temples of Egypt Hold?”

Q: How do I ensure my travel title is accurate and not misleading?

  • Ensure your travel title accurately reflects the content. Avoid clickbait tactics that promise something the content doesn’t deliver, as this can frustrate readers and harm your credibility.

Q: Is it beneficial to tailor travel titles to a specific audience or niche?

  • Tailoring travel titles to a specific audience or niche can be beneficial as it allows you to connect more effectively with a particular group interested in that topic, such as family travel, luxury getaways, or budget backpacking.

Q: How important is simplicity in a travel title?

  • Simplicity can be very important, especially to ensure clarity and ease of understanding. A simple, straightforward title can sometimes be more effective than a complex one, particularly if your content is informative.

Q: Can incorporating local languages in travel titles add appeal?

  • Incorporating local languages in travel titles can add appeal and authenticity, especially if it’s done respectfully and accurately. It can attract readers interested in the local culture and experiences.

Q: What strategies can be used to refresh old travel titles for new audiences?

  • To refresh old travel titles for new audiences, consider current trends, incorporate updated information, and align with contemporary SEO practices. Revising titles to make them more relevant to current travel contexts can also attract new readers.

Q: How can storytelling elements enhance travel titles?

  • Incorporating storytelling elements like intrigue, suspense, or a narrative hook in travel titles can make them more captivating. For example, “The Day I Lost My Way in Venice’s Enchanting Alleys” creates a sense of story and adventure.

Q: Is it effective to use destination landmarks in travel titles?

  • Including well-known landmarks in travel titles, like “Sunset Views from the Eiffel Tower: A Parisian Experience,” can be effective as it instantly gives readers a familiar reference point and sets expectations.

Q: How can I use emotive language effectively in travel titles?

  • Emotive language can make travel titles more engaging. Words that evoke emotions, such as “breathtaking,” “serene,” or “thrilling,” can draw readers in by appealing to their feelings and expectations about the destination.

Q: Should travel titles be tailored for different types of media (print, online, social)?

  • Yes, it’s important to tailor travel titles for different types of media. Online titles might benefit from SEO optimization, while print titles might prioritize catchiness and visual appeal. Social media titles often need to be shorter and more hashtag-focused.

Q: How can a travel title reflect a unique perspective or angle on a destination?

  • To reflect a unique perspective, focus on less-discussed aspects of a destination or your personal experiences that offer a fresh view. For example, “Exploring Kyoto: Beyond Temples and Tea Houses” suggests a different take on a popular destination.

Q: What’s the role of cultural context in creating travel titles?

  • Understanding and respecting the cultural context is crucial. Titles should be culturally sensitive and avoid stereotypes. They should honor the local culture and give an authentic representation of the experience.

Q: Can a play on words or puns be effective in travel titles?

  • Puns or wordplay can be effective if they’re clever and relevant. They add a layer of wit to the title, but it’s important to ensure they’re not confusing or obscure for the audience.

Q: How can I ensure my travel title is inclusive and accessible?

  • Ensure inclusivity by avoiding jargon, being mindful of diverse audiences, and using language that is welcoming and non-discriminatory. Accessibility also involves clarity and simplicity for a broad range of readers.

Q: Is it beneficial to update travel titles based on current trends or events?

  • Updating travel titles based on current trends or events can make them more relevant and timely. This approach can attract readers interested in contemporary issues or the latest travel trends.

Q: How do feedback and analytics influence the creation of future travel titles?

  • Feedback and analytics provide insights into what types of titles resonate with your audience. Analyzing which titles get more engagement can guide you in crafting future titles that are more likely to capture interest.

How to Start a Travel Blog

Haven’t started a travel blog yet? Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how to get started!

These are the exact steps I took to start Wander Her Way. You can follow this tutorial and have your own travel blog up and running in less than one hour!

Step 1: Choose a domain name

The first step to starting a travel blog is choosing a name for it. Your blog name will be the first impression that you have on people, so it’s important to pick a good one!

👉 If you need some help coming up with a name for your blog, be sure to read my guide on how to choose a travel blog name and ideas to inspire you .

Step 2: Get hosting

Once you have chosen a name for your travel blog, you will need to register it and get web hosting.

If you buy your domain name through an outside company, you can expect to pay $15 to $20 a year for it. However, if you sign up for web hosting through Bluehost, you can get your domain name for free.

If you’re just starting out, I highly recommend Bluehost for web hosting. They are the company I and many other bloggers use for starting new blogs and websites. They are easy to use, have some of the cheapest hosting plans out there, have a reliable hosting service, and decent customer support.

Granted, there are more powerful hosting providers out there with more responsive customer service but if you’re just getting started, it’s not worth the investment. Bluehost is enough to get your feet wet in the travel blogging pool. Then, when you begin to make some money, you can upgrade to a hosting company like BigScoots (where Wander Her Way is hosted now).

Bluehost has been generous enough to offer readers of Wander Her Way 70% off their new web hosting plans. So for only $2.95 per month you can get WordPress hosting AND a free domain name!

🩵 Get 70% off WordPress hosting with Bluehost

How to sign-up with Bluehost

Here are the detailed steps to set up web hosting with Bluehost:

1. Click the “Get Started” button

Het started with Bluehost

2. Select your hosting plan

Select Bluehost hosting plan

Which plan to choose: I recommend the basic plan for new bloggers.

I’m personally on the plus plan, but that’s only because I run multiple blogs. Otherwise I would probably choose the basic plan!

3. Put in your domain name

travel blog post titles

This is where you’ll put in the domain name that you decided on earlier.

What if I haven’t decided on a name yet?  If you haven’t decided on a domain name for your travel blog yet, wait a couple minutes and this offer will pop up on your page:

Select this option and you can go ahead and start setting your blog up, then use the free credit to buy your domain name later.

4. Create your account

travel blog post titles

5. Select your package and pay

travel blog post titles

Here’s where you’ll select your hosting plan. The 36-month plan is the best deal at $4.95 a month for the first three years, but to keep your starting cost as low as possible, you can pick the 12-month plan at only $2.95 a month.

What about package extras? You have the options to add on extras like SiteLock and Yost Premium SEO. I personally don’t recommend any of these because there are free WordPress plugins you can install that do the same thing. Which I’ll cover in the next section of this guide.

This is not to say these are not needed, but they are not essential for a new travel blogger at the beginning stages so save your money right now!

6. Congrats, you’re done!

Once you check out, you’ll be redirected to your Bluehost dashboard, which will look something like the image below. Your dashboard is where you can log in to your blog for the first time and start setting everything up.

Bluehost dashboard

Your blog will be run on the WordPress platform. WordPress is a content management platform, or CMS. This is where you’ll actually write your blog posts, upload your images, and design the look of your website.

Bluehost installs WordPress automatically for you—all you have to do is answer a few questions when you get to your dashboard. And don’t worry, they will walk you through the questions step-by-step and guide you through naming your blog, connecting your domain, and creating your WordPress site for you—it’s very easy!

travel blog post titles

Step 3: Designing your blog

Your blog will come with the default WordPress theme installed. You will definitely want to change this, which means it’s time to pick a theme for your blog!

When it comes to designing your blog, you have a few options. Here are the most common:

  • You can hire a web designer.
  • You can buy and install a pre-designed child theme.
  • You can install a theme that you can customize yourself.

Let’s look at each of these options:

Hire a web designer

This is the most expensive and least recommended route for a beginner blogger and not needed to have a profitable blog.

Buy A Premium Child Theme

A child theme is a theme that has been heavily customized by a designer and packaged in a way that you can install in your WordPress admin panel. A custom child theme comes with fonts, colors, and demo photos and content that you can swap out for your own. So other than changing the aesthetic elements, you’re set to start blogging with the click of a button.

I should mention, however, that fancy design may slow down your website. I wrote a whole piece about my experience switching my WordPress theme and the impact it has on Wander Her Way’s performance.

If having an elaborate design is really important to you, a premium theme is a much better investment for a beginner than a web designer and will make your blog stand out from the crowd just the same.

Customize a Theme Yourself

Finally, you can customize a theme yourself. I recommend installing and customizing a theme on your own because it’s MUCH cheaper, will keep your blog performing great, and it’s not as difficult as you may think.

My favorite theme is Kadence WP , which has a free and a paid version. The free version will be more than enough to get you started with a fast and good-looking blog, which is all you really need. The cool thing about Kadence is that, when combined with the Kadence Blocks plugin (which I’ll discuss in a minute) it eliminates the need for page builders.

Before blocks, Page Builders were the only way to have beautifully designed blogs and websites in WordPress without a professional web developer. The downside as I mentioned, is page builders make your website heavy and slow.

travel blog post titles

This is why I recommend Kadence to new bloggers. You can install the free version right from your WordPress theme tab, pick one of their starter templates, and start blogging. As your blog grows and you gain some experience, you can do more advanced customization and design changes to it.

👉 If you need help finding the perfect theme, make sure to check out my list of the best WordPress themes for travel blogs .

Step 4: Install plugins

WordPress plugins are applications that add extra functionality to your blog—think of them as apps on your phone.

There are thousands of plugins out there and some can be really useful but don’t go plugin happy! When it comes to plugins, less is better as they can also slow down your website and make it vulnerable to hackers. Most blogs will end up having between 10-15 plugins and you should stick to that number.

Bluehost Default Plugins

Your WordPress site will have a few plugins by default and you can activate them or delete them.

Here’s what you should do:

  • The Bluehost Plugin : Activate it. While not required to run your blog, this plugin connects your WordPress to your Bluehost dashboard and gives you the ability to create a staging site. This is basically a working copy of your website that you can make changes to before pushing them live. It’s good practice to do that—in case something breaks, your live website is not affected.
  • Akismet : Activate it. This plug-in filters out spam comments and form submissions on your blog. There are other ways of doing that without a plugin but it’s good to have as a beginner. The free version will be enough for you to get started.
  • Hello Dolly : Delete it. It has zero functionally. Goodbye.
  • Creative Mail : Delete it. This is an email marketing plugin by Bluehost itself. Just get rid of it… If you plan to start collecting emails, I recommend MailerLite , which is free for up to 1,000 subscribers.
  • Yoast SEO : Delete. Yoast helps ensure your blog posts are setup in a way that makes it easy for Google and other search engines to find them—that’s what search engine optimization (SEO) is all about. Don’t get me wrong, Yoast SEO is a great friendly plugin but the free version of RankMath SEO is also easy to use and will give you a LOT more features than Yoast.
  • Jetpack : Delete it. This plugin is infamously famous for slowing down websites like crazy, which is bad for SEO! I’ll suggest some alternatives.

travel blog post titles

Recommended Plugins for Beginners

Here are the plugins I recommend most for new bloggers are:

  • WordFence Security : Great security plug-in to protect your site.
  • Sassy Social Share : Adds social media share buttons to your blog posts. And you can customize them is a bunch of different ways.
  • Autoptimize : Makes your website faster. Remember, fast loading pages = better SEO.
  • UpdraftPlus : This plug-in makes regular backups of your site so you never lose anything!
  • RankMath SEO : The free version of RankMath has a lot of features, including many that eliminate the need for additional plugins down the road. While Yoast may appear more user-friendly, RankMath will walk you through the setup step-by-step.
  • Kadence Blocks : We talked about themes before and Kadence Blocks is the perfect complement to the Kadence Theme. Similar to RankMath, the added functionality and design options of Kadence Blocks will eliminate the need for other plugins in the future.

All of these plug-ins are 100% free to use. Some have premium versions with advanced features that are paid but you don’t really need any of that when you first start blogging.

Step 5: Start posting!

By now, you should have purchased a domain name and hosting through Bluehost, installed a WordPress theme, and added some functionality to your blog with plugins.

Now all that’s left is to start posting. And that’s where these travel blog post ideas will come in handy if you need some inspiration on what to write about!

How to Create Attractive Blog Post Titles and Increase CTR

Blog post titles often determine whether readers will open a certain article or not. Thus, to stand out from similar content, increase your click-through-rate (CTR), and attract more traffic, you need to nail blog titles. Below, we’ll share the best tips on how to write a blog post title that will catch and keep the audience’s attention.

travel blog post titles

How to Find Ideas for Catchy Blog Titles

Blog titles are what your readers see in the search engine results, and what gets them to click and read the rest. That is why the overall success of your article or blog depends a lot on your title’s attractiveness. In this blog post, we have collected some great tips on how to title blog posts. If you are also interested in blog writing, check our post on how to create high-quality content .

Research Competitors

The first step is to get down to investigating what your competitors have. Learn what titles already exist on the same topic and assess their strong and weak points. Your title must win over the others and be unique, so analyzing the existing content will help you stay original.

Collect Titles That You Like

You encounter various titles on a daily basis—in the news, on billboards, in books — practice focusing your attention on those. When you analyze your reactions and response to different titles, you understand what mechanics work best. Collect the headlines that you really like when surfing the internet, such a compilation may inspire you to create eye-catching titles for your own blog posts.

Research Keywords

Keyword research is a great instrument that helps you find out what your audience is looking for and what terminology they are using. Adding keywords to your titles will greatly improve the site ranking as well as the CTR.

Prepare Multiple Titles for Each Post

It is recommended that you dedicate enough time to creating a title just like you do when preparing the content. Create several titles for the post that you plan to publish using different techniques and choose the one that seems to be the best.

Such brainstorming will let out your creativity and help you find the most appealing title ideas. You may even share them with your friends or colleagues and see what reactions they provoke.

Don’t Be Vague

Even though it seems that a vague title may interest more people to look at what stands behind it, the effect is usually the opposite. A specific blog title helps users better understand what is inside of an article so they can be sure they’ll find the answer when clicking on your post.

Keep It Short

According to the folks at Outbrain , short titles have a 21% higher CTR than titles of an average length. If you want your post to rank high on Google, try reducing its title to 70 characters so it does not get cut off. Also, headlines up to 8-14 words tend to get more shares.

Blog Post Titles: Best Practices

In the next section of this blog, we give some examples of blog post title best practices and how to write catchy blog post titles. Using one or several tips can help you find your own methods on how to title an article.

Titles With Numbers

Such headlines attract readers for a number of reasons. First, they usually present well-structured content that will be easy to read or skim if the user doesn’t have much time. Then, such headlines promise specific information that contains no ambiguity, for example, ten tips on how to earn online, and readers can be sure they’ll get it when clicking on the post.

If your audience is mostly amateurs, use numbers up to 10, but for readers with professional expertise provide more detailed information.

Examples

  • “10 best practices to earn online”
  • “27 steps that will help you broaden your audience”
  • “Use these 5 strategies to boost your blog revenue”

How-to Titles

Titles of this type promise readers to give a solution or an instruction in response to their question. Moreover, they match users’ queries on search engines, so it’ll be easier to get to the first page of search results. Why not leverage such powerful headlines in your writing?

How-to titles

  • “How to grow your audience: The only guide you need”
  • “Find the right niche: A step-by-step guide”
  • “How to write a catchy blog post title”

Promising Titles

If written properly, promising titles will make your post look very attractive without deceiving customers. To write such a title, try to show how your post differs from others and highlight this advantage.

Promising titles

  • “20 things no one will tell you about affiliate marketing”
  • “Unique examples of effective travel blogs”
  • “Out-of-the-box marketing ideas no one has shared before”

Negative Titles

Negative titles are also a great way to generate clicks. They can create a fear of failure and encourage readers to avoid mistakes by learning from someone else’s experience. These titles generally consist of two parts: a potential failure point and a solution.

Negative titles

  • “Low click-through-rate: Here’s why and how to make it higher”
  • “Stop losing profit: Here’s how you can monetize your blog ”
  • “No sales growth? Here’s an answer”

Outside-Of-The-Box Titles

Sometimes surprise is what provokes interest. If your title combines incompatible statements, it may as well get your reader click and go through the article. Such titles hit their target with a promise to let them know what stands behind.

  • “More visitors–less profit”
  • “Using ineffective marketing techniques effectively”
  • “No need for 401k with these travel blog ideas”

Scarcity Titles

No one likes missing out on something valuable, and that is why scarcity titles nail it. These headlines create an impression of a short supply, which is a great marketing tactic to draw attention. People who don’t want to be left out will be likely to click on your post.

  • “Secrets only affluent travel bloggers know”
  • “Little-known tips for affiliate marketers”
  • “Rare examples of secret and profitable travel niches”
  • “There’s only a little time left to become a blogger this year”
  • “Be among the first to try this earning opportunity”

First-Person Titles

Using first-person pronouns in titles is a great strategy to build trust with readers. Such headlines help the writer show how valuable their blog post is by adding a personal touch. Readers will be likely to appreciate the tips that the writer finds useful themselves.

  • “The advice I needed to start blogging”
  • “What I need to do to monetize my website”
  • “The most useful travel blog instruments that I better start using right now”

Celebrity Titles

This type of headlines borrows on the popularity of a well-known person or their business. It produces a sense of trust to the content thanks to an obvious real-life example.

  • “What Mark Zuckerberg’s success can teach us all”
  • “Lessons I learned from following Elon Musk”
  •  “What Steve Jobs proved to us”

Question Titles

Another way to spark your readers` interest is to ask them a question. Question titles get your audience involved, because people want to get the answer — especially to a provocative question.

Question titles

  • “What instruments do marketers consider the most cost-effective?”
  • “When is the right time to become an affiliate marketer?”
  • “How can you tackle the travel market?”

Comparison Titles

VS titles compare several items, thoughts, or ideas. They usually get a lot of clicks because people consider comparison useful and pointed.

  • “Online marketing VS Offline marketing”
  • “Monetize VS Not to monetize”
  • “Traditional VS Tailor-made marketing instruments”

Straightforward vs Creative Article Titles

When thinking about how to create a blog title, you might find yourself torn between choosing a straightforward headline such as “How to write a blog post title,” or a more creative one like, “This is the only kind of headline you should use.”

Surprising as it may seem, straightforward titles may generate a higher conversion rate. They work as a perfect eye catcher and engage readers more because of perfectly correlating to a search query or user’s question. Moreover, it is rare that we are ready to spend any time figuring out the meaning of the title. What if the whole article is just as complicated?

On the other hand, creative titles help attract attention and stand out from the rest of the content with an artistic touch.

How to Write a Catchy Blog Post Title

Blog post titles can often affect your post’s overall success. So, spending enough time and effort on creating a decent headline is no less important than writing a post itself. Try to use different techniques and come up with a few title options for each post. Thus, you’ll soon be able to create eye-catching blog post titles that readers can’t ignore.

Check out these 150 travel blog post ideas! I hope they help you settle on something to write about.

Travel blogging can feel like a long hard slog!

I mean, 4 million new blog posts are published online every single day.

And you have to write articles that outrank the lot of ‘em!

To succeed, you have to deliver true value to your audience by writing epic content that’s as engaging as it is informative.

You have to solve peoples’ problems, nail your SEO, leverage all manner of marketing channels, and do it over and over again.

Doing it right is no mean feat.

But it’s even harder when you’re running low on travel blog post ideas!

You want to write something but don’t know what! You’re low on inspiration and can’t think up a travel blog title that feels quite right.

We’ve all been there! So I decided to put a post full of travel blog post ideas together to help.

New to travel blogging and unsure what to write about? Or are you simply stuck on what to write about right now?

Either way, you’ll find 150 travel blog title ideas in the coming post. Check them out!

A Note on Keyword Research

Don’t worry, the ideas aren’t far away!

First, though, it’s worth talking about a vital part of successful blogging that relates to this topic:

Keyword research.

Keyword research is essential if you’re ever going to win at SEO and drive traffic to your blog. That sounds dramatic, but it’s 100% true.

Choosing to write travel posts without prior keyword research is a bit like trying to drive a car without an engine.

Hit the gas and honk the horn all you want, but you aren’t going very far.

Now, an exception to that is if you market blog posts primarily through Pinterest and/or social media. You might also have a long email list of eager subscribers waiting to hear from you.

In these cases, you can also drive lots of traffic.

But you’re unlikely to rank in Google…ever. Unless you get lucky.

Keywords are the bedrock of effective SEO. Find them, write an epic article, and the readers will (eventually) follow. Here’s more on what’s involved…

Heads up, you might also like this post about adjectives starting with N !

blogpostideas-5525766

It’s worth doing keyword research before you write any blog post. Read on to find out why…

What Is Keyword research?

It’s the process of finding out what your audience is searching for online.

You’re looking for words and phrases people are typing (or talking) into Google.

Those words/phrases reveal your audience’s pain points.

You see the problems they’re struggling with and the questions they’re asking. You find out, ahead of time, the content that your audience actually wants .

That’s invaluable information!

You can then write an epic post, safe in the knowledge that your audience wants to read it.

You stop shooting in the dark with your content.

You save time, effort (and maybe money) in the process.

More to the point, Google monitors your content for those keywords .

Upon finding them, you’ll end up ranking the article for those terms. Google knows people are searching for those words/phrases, sees that your post contains them, and so puts it in front of those people.

Choose to ignore keywords and you’ll find it hard to attract the readership you want.

Why Is This Important?

Because writing takes time!

A single post might take your hours to write and publish.

If you’re investing that level of effort, then you want to see a decent reward. To be precise, you want to rank highly in Google and generate traffic to your site.

It’s all well and good using the title ideas in this blog post.

But I would never suggest that you write them without validating the potential rewards on offer first.

And keyword research is the way to do it.

Verify, ahead of time, that people are actually looking for the information you’d be writing about.

Don’t, and the articles may never rank in Google!

You’d have wasted your time writing them in the process.

There’s every chance an article in the coming list has been:

a) Written a thousand times before, or

b) Has nobody actually looking for that information.

If that was the case, then you’d see no return on your investment of time and energy.

Keyword research would help validate these titles.

It’d reveal the quality keywords and ensure the articles could, in theory, rank well in Google results.

And there’s good news:

The process involved is super easy!

But- and it’s a big but – only if you have the right tools at your disposal…

Want more travel blog ideas and tips to succeed at this game? This post is a must-read.

…and don’t forget this one where i go into detail on what life as a blogger’s really like.

travelblogpostsuggestions-8250611

Of all my travel blog post suggestions, using a keyword research tool, like Keysearch, is arguably one of the most valuable.

Why Keyword Research Tools Are Essential to Success

Understanding the need for keyword research tools requires a closer look at keywords themselves.

Basically, not all of search terms (aka keywords) are created equal!

There are two primary metrics to keep in mind:

Competition and popularity .

Roughly speaking, competition refers to how many people are already targeting that keyword/phrase.

If it’s been written about countless times already, then it’s super competitive.

AKA, it’s going to be hard to rank on Google for them.

Popularity refers to how many people out there are searching for those terms.

The more popular they are, the more traffic they can bring.

Unfortunately, because of that fact, popular search terms are almost always super competitive! People want that traffic, so everybody competes for it by writing similar articles.

Alas, Google tends to prioritise authority websites in rankings.

“If you run a new blog, it’ll incredibly difficult to compete at their level. You can never expect to beat them in search results if you both target the same keywords.”

FYI, you’re always aiming for the cherished top spot: number 1 on the first page of search results.

Get there, and, for certain terms, you can get thousands of page views per month.

But anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself…

The primary take-home from this section is this:

It’s your job to find keywords that are the magic combination of being popular and uncompetitive . From there, your job is far easier. Write a quality article around the keywords and you can expect to rank well for them. Find these keywords and you win. And keyword research tools help you do it.

My Keyword Research Tool of Choice

How do you know which keywords are better than others?

How do you know how popular/competitive one phrase is over another?

Without a keyword research tool, it’s almost impossible!

Sure, there are clues worth knowing about. For instance, long-tail keywords (those with 3 or more words in them, such as ‘travel blogging on a budget’) tend to be less competitive.

They’re longer, which usually means fewer people tend to look for them (aka, they’re less popular too).

Conversely, short tail keywords (those with 1 to 2 keywords, such as ‘budget travel’) are generally very competitive- because more people search for them.

Another idea is to use Google Trends .

It’s free and reveals how often people searched for certain terms over the last 12 months. That’s useful info- especially alongside the other free data it provides!

You can assume that popular keywords on there will be more competitive- i.e. you don’t want them.

But you can never know for sure . Assume wrong, and you can miss out on awesome search terms.

Never take that chance with your content .

That’s why I use Keysearch to tell me everything I could possibly need to know about a search term. Keep reading to learn more about it.

travelblogpost-1103224

Using Keysearch means you’ll never be at a dead end when finding the best travel blog post ideas to write.

Why I Recommend Keysearch

I love Keysearch . I use it every single day.

Without it, you would not be reading this article right now!

Here’s why I like it so much:

Let’s say I want to write an article about ‘things to do in New York’.

I type that long-tail keyword into Keysearch and, in seconds, it tells me:

  • How many people search for it per month, and
  • A score that reveals how competitive it is.
(FYI, it turns out ‘things to do in New York’ is not a good keyword…).

It shows me a graphical representation of how popular it is throughout the year and a mass of other useful data.

At the same time, it delivers a list of hundreds of related keywords that might be of interest.

You can then sift and filter through them to see if there’s a better option for your article (aka, a better balance between popularity and competitiveness). It goes without saying that you’ll get a host of new ideas for additional content this way too.

All that information is INVALUABLE!

“Keysearch makes an otherwise confusing and laborious process countless times easier. You save yourself endless uncertainty and maximize your chances of finding epic keywords.”

You know, ahead of time, how likely it is that your content will rank in Google.

The downside is that it isn’t free.

Well, correction, you do get a free trial! Sign up at no expense and you can find a bunch of awesome search terms to start your blogging journey.

But you can only do so many searches before the trial runs out.

After that, you’ll have to pay a monthly subscription fee of $17 USD to keep going.

For me, the benefits of Keysearch justify that expense. I see this as an essential blogging tool and wholly recommend it to anybody who wants to take their travel blog SEO seriously.

You can get started on Keysearch by clicking here .

How To Write A Travel Blog Post That Inspires Travel

  • August 14, 2023
  • by Margaret Bourne

Woman writing in a notebook - how to write a travel blog post.

There’s something magical about the way the best travel bloggers share their stories and travel tips. You want to learn how to write a travel blog that will have your readers planning their next adventure … and that’s why you’re here!

I have some experience with travel blogging.

My first blog was an outdoor adventure and travel blog. It ended up rebranding into a lifestyle blog when my travels switched to a mom life focus.

Blogging as a travel blogger comes with unique strategies and techniques.

You’ve probably started your travel blog recently, and you’ve got a list of great travel blog post ideas.

But how do you write and publish posts that will be successful?

Let’s dive into what it takes to make a travel blog post to grab your reader’s attention and feed their wanderlust.

How Is Travel Blogging Different From Other Niches?

Before we get into the basics of how to write a travel blog post, let’s look at what makes them different.

The truth is this not every blog niche is the same.

Here’s how they can be different.

Travel blogs tend to be informational and persuasive.

In comparison, a DIY craft blog is almost 100% informational with “how to” posts.

With a persuasive blog niche, your content will require something different: storytelling!

Your content will need to be compelling and we’ll look at this in just a second.

But before we go there, also remember that within the travel blog niche, there are micro-niches.

So a travel gear review site may have fewer personal stories in comparison to those that include actual travel.

Why Is It Important To Write A Compelling Travel Blog Post?

Other than positioning yourself as a knowledgeable expert in your travel niche, writing compelling travel blog posts is important for a number of reasons.

  • 33% of US travellers check out travel blogs for advice
  • We travel with smartphones and use them for research and booking
  • Influencers are deemed more trustworthy than brands .

So, you want travellers to discover you and stick around on your site.

Ultimately, you want them to purchase through your affiliate links and your products.

How To Write A Travel Blog Post: The Basics

By now you should know the basics of a good blog post: the introduction, body and conclusion are essentials.

But what should you be doing differently writing a travel blog?

If you plan to monetize your travel blog , you’ll need to start growing an audience that loves reading what you’re sharing.

Let’s look at each section of a blog post and what you should include in each.

1. What’s The Best Way To Start A Blog Post?

Let’s learn how to write a travel blog post that grabs the reader’s attention immediately.

But first, the headline title needs to be engaging.

Begin by using descriptive, powerful words that catch the reader’s interest.

For example instead of “My London Day Trip” use something like “How To Plan The Ultimate Day Trip To London: 24 Hours Of Fun And Good Food”

Now that you have the headline completed, it’s time to look at the introduction section.

As usual, I always recommend using your SEO longtail keyword in the first paragraph. Get that out of the way!

Here are a few ways you can make your travel blog post introduction interesting :

  • Introduce your destination or topic with a brief overview
  • Add context and background information as to what they can expect (romance them with a hook)
  • Share a personal anecdote or story that will want the reader to learn more
  • Ask a thought-provoking question on the topic

Always remember that you want the reader to keep reading!

2. How To Write The Body Of Your Travel Blog Post

The next section of your blog post covers the key tips that you’re sharing, as well as the stories and anecdotes that bring them to life.

Here you’ll be sharing your experiences, insights, and adventures.

For a typical travel blog post the body can include:

  • Places you visited: detailed descriptions, their significance and your personal experience.
  • Who you met: share stories of people you met, their culture and lifestyle.
  • The food you ate: local specialties, ingredients and flavours.
  • Travel challenges: what made your trip difficult and how you overcame them.

Product or service review posts that include affiliate links are different.

You’ll still need to add your personal stories and feedback, but they are more structured.

3. How To Conclude Your Travel Blog Post

Writing travel blog posts that are well-structured means you need a conclusion.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen bloggers finish their posts with just the body of their post.

The conclusion is where you can summarize your experience and key reasons for travel or purchase: why the reader should visit a destination, do an activity or buy a product or service.

It’s also where you can include a strong call-to-action : signing up for your free guide for your newsletter subscription or sharing your post with others on Pinterest are just two examples.

This is also where you can leave your readers with a final thought about your experience. Perhaps it’s an emotional lesson learned, an interesting twist or a quote that sparks their interest to travel.

How Long Should Travel Blog Posts Be?

When you’re learning how to write a travel blog post, the last thing you should obsess about is the post length.

I’ll tell you a little secret: sometimes a post can be inspiring at 700 words.

In other cases, you’re inevitably going to write something longer.

Top bloggers are making their travel blog posts approximately 2000 words. This is easy to do.

Consider all of the tips,  and recommendations you can provide in a standard “guide to [Destination]” type of blog post?

If your post is photo-heavy, do try to balance it with text that tells the story more fully than just the images.

How To Come Up With Interesting Travel Blog Post Ideas

Coming up with fresh ideas can sometimes be hard.

We all come up against “writer’s block” as bloggers at some point.

Aside from checking out my travel blog post topics, here are some other ways to come up with your very own posts.

  • Look at your own experiences. Consider all of the blog posts you can write based on them.
  • Read other bloggers’ general travel posts : write on the same topics but better.
  • Use Google itself. SEO tools like Keywords Everywhere give you an idea of what the popular blog topics are that you can recreate.
  • Use your old travel journals for inspiration

Just remember to always be authentic! If you haven’t gone somewhere, you shouldn’t be writing a guide when you don’t have firsthand experience.

How To Make Your Travel Blog Posts Stand Out

What will make your travel blog posts such a great read that people want to follow your blog?

That you become a well-recognized expert in your travel blog niche?

Here are some ways to make your travel blog spectacular:

  • Tell vivid stories. Use your own voice, as if you were telling the story to somebody. Avoid generic, vague content that doesn’t bring to life your travel experience. Make the reader feel like they were there with you as a spectator or fellow traveller. Romancing the experience is a persuasion tactic that smart travel bloggers use.
  • Use a unique angle. Share a lesser-known activity or attraction. Or share a personal anecdote or a travel quote that offers a fresh perspective that’ll capture your reader’s interest.
  • Use high-quality photos. Learn how to take the best photos using a quality camera. Edit your photos with Lightroom and make sure they are optimized to load fast on your site .
  • Include practical tips. Make sure you balance your stories with factually correct information that will help your reader make a travel decision, purchase or plan. From hotel recommendations, restaurants and activities, as well as staying safe. You’ll become a trusted source.
  • Be authentic. Use your own personal brand voice . Tell real stories and give your personal opinions on your experiences, including the pros and the cons. Readers want the full picture, not just the positive promotion of a destination or travel service.

Avoid These Common Travel Blogging Mistakes

When writing travel blog posts you need to avoid common mistakes .

These are extremely common, so don’t beat yourself up over them. We all make them!

  • Writing thin content that’s generic. Bring your post to life with personal stories, anecdotes and photos.
  • Overusing stock photos. Use your own if you can.
  • Not optimizing your blog posts and not updating your posts regularly.
  • Adding prices – these change regularly. Use “starting at” because this leaves it open to price increases

There you go! Avoid these common travel blogging mistakes and you’ll have a great site on your hands.

Choosing a travel blog post title.

Travel Blog Title

However good your content or however impressive your photos it is the title of your blog post that actually hooks someone and pulls new readers in. Some of our most successful posts are based on great titles rather than great content and some of our best written posts haven’t done well due to apparently weak titles. It’s so difficult to get the balance right but the right title goes a long way to doing that.

So rather than waffle on for thousands of words on how to choose the right blog title I have drawn up a list of ideas that may be helpful. I was so grateful to other bloggers for ideas when I started out that it seemed right to pay it back.

Travel Blog Title

Here are a list of post ideas split into relevant categories, let me know if any are useful.

Explanations

These are your basic ‘ How to ‘ posts and really useful as most online travel searches seem to begin with ‘ How to ‘.

  • How to backpack around the world
  • How to travel well on a budget
  • How to survive long-haul air travel
  • How to get the best deals on hotels and flights
  • How to plan a stress-free holiday
  • How to book cheap air tickets
  • How to live out of a suitcase for 3 months
  • How to plan a romantic weekend away
  • How to pack thoroughly for a long trip
  • How to learn a foreign language
  • How to plan an epic road-trip

Travel Lists

These are your classic ‘ Top 10 ‘ lists of anything and everything. From restaurants to flights, from ways to pack to what to eat. So many options and what the bulk of travel blog posts seem to be called. There is a school of thought too that the number of items should always be an odd number (i.e Top 9 instead of 10) but the jury is still out on that.

  • My Top 10 European Cities
  • The Best 9 Bars in New York
  • Our Ultimate Top 20 Hikes in New Zealand
  • Seven Ways to Explore Venice
  • The Worlds Top 5 Airlines
  • Eleven tasty meals to eat in Melbourne
  • Ten Things you must take in your backpack

Travel Blog Title

Travel tips and resources

These are posts that offer pure travel advice or links to other sites with similar information. Generally worded as if it’s the only advice you will ‘ever’ need to complete a particular task but usually very subjective so it’s only the authors views to be honest. Great for getting new followers and hits as these titles can be exactly what the reader is searching for.

  • How to have a fantastic trip without blowing your budget
  • Advice for your first solo adventure
  • The Top Travel apps you’ll ever need
  • Things you need for your first trip abroad
  • What you need in your first aid kit
  • What to do if you lose your passport
  • Top items to pack for a trip overseas
  • Best tips for a hassle-free holiday
  • Inspirational travel quotes
  • The best reasons to travel around Europe
  • How to plan for your next trip

Destination Specific

You know the sort of thing. Particular posts about a city or a beach or a holiday resort. The web is crammed-packed full of these so it’s crucial to get the title right and try and pitch it to the appropriate audience.

  • The best beaches in Vietnam
  • Most popular skiing resorts in France
  • The most luxurious hotels in Antigua
  • Make the most of your trip to Edinburgh
  • What to do on a 3 day vacation in the Lake District
  • A backpacker’s guide to Thailand
  • North African traditions and experiences
  • Incredible buildings in Rome
  • Iconic places to visit on your first trip to Vancouver
  • Wonderful locations you’ll want to visit in the Caribbean
  • The sights and sounds of the Oktoberfest in Munich

Travel Blog Title

Activities and Things to do

Similar to destination specific but of course these are activity specific. Ranging from advice on how to do a particular activity to the best places to go to participate in it. Often a mix of activity and destination though.

  • Spains best spa’s and health resorts
  • Things to do on a family beach holiday
  • The Best Winter Sports Ever
  • Things to do on a solo vacation
  • Where to take the kids in the holidays
  • Crazy weekends in Vegas
  • Best ski resorts in the world
  • Fun-packed trips with the family
  • The most romantic couples weekends

Probably the most popular travel post titles in the blogging world. Asking a question of your audience really hooks them in and generates more traffic than a straight statement. If you look at a successful blog you will see that they use questions for the majority of their posts.

  • Why do you …
  • Where is the best …
  • When we saw the …..
  • What is the best way to …..
  • Which city would you …..

So many options with questions. Just add one of the ‘W’ words and you’ll be away.

  • If you won the lottery, where would you go first?
  • What’s your favourite beach in the whole world?
  • Why do you travel?
  • What 7 things are essential for travel?
  • When did you last go skiing?
  • Where would you take a road trip?
  • If you went round the world which places could you not leave out?
  • What’s on your travel bucket list?
  • Who is your ideal travel companion?
  • Why don’t you count countries?

Travel Blog Title

Photo blogs

And if you don’t fancy getting bogged down by words then a photo blog or diary is a great way of showcasing content. You can tell wonderful stories by a list of relevant photos.

  • Our San Francisco Photo Diary
  • Experiencing Malta in Pictures
  • The Singapore and Hong Kong Picture Album
  • My Photo Blog of the Summer

Travel food and drink

A lot of travel bloggers focus on the wonderful food that they have experienced on their journeys and feature articles on places to eat or types of food. Fabulous advice especially if you are planning to visit the same locations.

  • Quebecs Best Poutine
  • Where to buy the best steak in New York
  • Fergburger – Probably the best burgers in the world
  • Our favourite fish’n chips in England
  • The Grizzly Bear Brewery

Personal stories and experiences

Now these can obviously be a combination of any of the categories mentioned so far but are really confined to those stories of something specific that happened to you. Like a diary entry or a short story.

  • Our Hotel Disaster in Marseilles
  • Getting robbed in Rio
  • Losing all my luggage in London
  • How my friends ruined my holiday
  • Finding love in the middle of nowhere
  • We loved Boston and everything about it

Travel Blog Title

You don’t have to take any of these examples word for word, although that’s perfectly okay. They are really supposed to inspiration for your own unique travel post title. Try mix and matching words from different examples or just changing the locations, who knows what you may end up with?

Change the nouns and verbs involved with the examples and see what you get. Words such as ‘amazing’, ‘stunning’, ‘unbelievable’ and ‘incredible’ can enhance your title.

Travel Blog Title

Online Blog Topic Generators

If none of these ideas float your boat then you could always give the online blog topic generator a try. These are websites that generate blog posts titles randomly for you. Sometimes good but often not so useful unfortunately. Here are a few of the more well known ones:

  • Hubspot’s Blog Topic Generator

15 Types Of Blog Post Titles That Get Clicked: A Beginner’s Guide

Note From Sean: Most bloggers will spend hours writing content and then write their blog post title in seconds as an afterthought. This is a HUGE problem.

Why? Because if your headline isn’t good enough to get someone to click on the post and read it, then what’s the point of having great content in the first place?

Luckily, Emily Johnson knows this better than anyone. And in this post, she is going to show you exactly how to write killer blog post titles that work.

Ever experience it?

That moment of excitement mixed with fear and uncertainty right before you click “submit your guest post” or “publish your article?”

Then you are not the only one.

Any writer or blogger will tell you that publishing your post is one thing. Making sure it’s clicked, read, commented on, and shared, well, that’s another.

The fact of the matter is if you want your post read and shared, it’s got to be clicked.

So, how to make sure that happens? Your blog post title.

There are a few strategies to use that will make your writing more noticeable, create a catchy title, and draw people’s attention.

Now, let me guess when you’ve tried to do this yourself, you’ve probably come across a bunch of blog post title generators, and you think that it’s all you need to know about creating attention-grabbing headlines.

If that’s the case, I’d like to tell you something:

Blog post titles that follow templates show a lack of creativity. Also, due to the fact that they are being overused by so many, they can be boring.

There is nothing special about creating another “10 Tips For Working From Home” title. Have you seen how many there are? Just type it in Google…

To catch people’s attention, you need creative blog post titles, your headlines need to be one of a kind.

That’s what I want to show you how to do here. In this article, I will:

  • Show you 15 types of blog post titles that work
  • Explain to you why they work and what makes people click
  • Provide you with 5 creative variations on a common template for each headline
  • Present you with blog post title examples from real sites and…
  • Demonstrate how you can easily change your idea into a perfect headline

All of this will teach you how to title blog posts. So, shall we begin?

Table of Contents

#1 “A Guide To…” Titles

The title of this post is “…: A Beginner’s Guide.” Why did I choose it? Well, first of all, “a guide” communicates to readers that it’s giving you the most important information about a topic, in this case — blog post tiles.

Secondly, using “beginner’s guide” in the headline should attract those with little or no experience in creating catchy blog headlines. People like new freelance writers or people who want to learn more about optimizing content for SEO .

So, why do “guide” topics work?

“Guide” topics work because they promise readers they’ll find all the most important information about a topic. So there’s no need to search for more.

Now, when creating a “guide” headline, be creative! There are many ways to expand on a common “…: A Guide” topic. Create your own unique guide! Here are a few creative blog post title ideas you can use:

  • “…: The Only Guide You Need”
  • “…: A Step-By-Step Guide”
  • “The Advanced Guide To…”
  • “A Start-To-Finish Guide…”
  • “The In-Depth Guide To…”

Also, check out the three posts below. Look at the number of shares they got on social media. Aren’t their titles creative?

  • The Martin Luther King, Jr. Guide To Inspirational Writing ( read ).

As you can see, there are many ways you can change the common “Guide” title. Remember, expand on your idea!

Good Title : A Guide To Feeding Toddlers.

Great Title : A Simple Guide To Feeding Toddlers.

Perfect Title: A Simple Guide To Quickly Feeding Your Toddler.

#2 “10, 15, 20…” Titles

neil patel title

Many readers, as well as writers, fall in love with list articles at first sight and there is a reason for it.

Listicles are easy to read and easy to write. They also get clicked and read more often than other articles.

What makes listicles work? Why do they stand out?

Listicles are eye-catching because they organize information, inform you up-front how long the article will be and how many new things you’ll learn.

Here are some ideas on how to create interesting listicles:

  • “X Ways You Can… While…”
  • “X Myths About…”
  • “X Secrets Of…”

how to post title

“How To” titles are some of the most popular for blog posts. Check some of your favorite websites. How many “How To” titles do they have?

“How To” titles get clicked by hundreds because they promise to teach you some new vital skills.

Also, think about what do we use search engines for? To find the information we lack, right? So, when we want to learn something new, acquire new skills or improve those we already possess, “how to” articles are the first we click since they offer us help as well as solutions. So these are for titling blog posts for SEO.

Check out these ideas on how to change the common “How To” title into a more interesting one:

  • “Why… And How To…”
  • “Beginner’s Guide: How To…”
  • “How To Create… Even If…”

#5 “Where, What, Why” Titles

Like I mentioned before, we use search engines in order to find the information we lack. Just like “How To” articles, “Where, What, Why” blog titles get hundreds of readers since they give us answers to questions that keep us up at night.

Let’s sum up:

“Where, What, Why” blog titles work because they promise that by reading the article you’ll learn something new, find advice as well as a solution to a problem you have.

  • “…: Here’s Why”

#6 “Infographic:…” Titles

There is a reason why we want more and more infographics: they are fun, quick to read, and easy to remember. If your post has visual content , put it in your headline! The promise of an infographic might result in more people reading your post as well as more shares on social media.

So, why are “Infographic” blog post titles attractive?

“Infographic” titles attract more people because they promise that the content will be visual, and thus, easy to process and memorize.

Let’s take a look at three easy ways to inform your readers that there will be an infographic in the post:

ent title

As we all well know, people learn best from their own mistakes. However, wouldn’t you like to be one step forward and know upfront the common mistakes in a given task before you take it? I think the answer is obvious…

“Mistakes To Avoid” blog titles work because it promises information about what can hinder your success and what you should pay attention to.

Good Title : Mistakes To Avoid While Writing A Blog Post.

Great Title : 15 Mistakes To Avoid While Writing A Blog Post.

Perfect Title: 15 Common Mistakes To Avoid While Writing Your First Blog Post.

#8 “Everything You Need To Know About” Titles

The “Everything You Need To Know About” title is similar to the first title I discussed the “Guide” title. Just like the 1st title, the 8th title on my list focuses on providing your reader with all the necessary information about a topic.

The “Everything You Need To Know About” blog title is eye-catching because it promises that once you click it, you’ll learn everything about a given topic. So, there is no need to search for more information.

Let’s take a look at some ideas on how to write “Everything You Need To Know About Titles:”

  • “Everything You Need To Know About… And What It Means For…”
  • “…: Everything You Need To Know In X Steps”
  • “…: Everything You Need To Know Before…”
  • “Everything You Need To Know About…: X Secrets”
  • “A Beginner’s Guide To…: Everything You Need To Know”

Also, take a look at how some experienced bloggers use the above title to their advantage:

  • Bullet Journal 101: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started ( read ).

Idea : Civilization V.

Good Title : Everything You Need To Know About Civilization V.

Great Title : A Guide To Civilization V: Everything You Need To Know.

Perfect Title: An In-Depth Guide To Civilization V: Everything You Need To Know.

#9 “Question?” Titles

Another great way to write an eye-catching blog title is to ask your readers a question. Make them think. Spark their interest from the very beginning.

“Question?” titles bring hundreds of clicks because they make your readers involved. People will want to know the answer to a question that is provocative.

How can you put a question into your title? It’s very easy. Here are some blog post titles that work:

  • “…? These X Strategies Will Help You To…”
  • “When Should You…? Here Are…”
  • “…? Here’s Why…”
  • “…? An Inside Look At…”
  • “What Is… And What Should You…?”

Also, take a look at these few posts. What can you say about their titles?

Good Title : Is Android Better Than iOS?

Great Title : Is Android Better Than iOS? 12 Reasons.

Perfect Title: Is Android Better Than iOS? 12 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Buy An iPad.

If you have an iPad and if my title made you feel outraged and challenged, that’s great! It means the title is provocative enough to make you click and read the article!

Remember, by asking provocative questions, you win!

#10 “…: Here’s Why” Blog Post Titles

get response heres why

The “Here’s Why” blog headline has got 2 parts:

  • A negative statement,
  • A promise of enlightenment.

“Here’s Why” titles work because you indicate a problem, inform your readers you know the reasons behind it as well as, indirectly, promise to provide solutions.

How can you use this title to your advantage? Take a look at the 5 blog post title examples below:

  • “…: Here’s Why And How To…”
  • “Stop Being…: Here’s How You Can…”
  • “…? Here’s An Answer”
  • “Here’s Why… Sucks”
  • “…: Here’s Why That’s A Good Thing”

Also, check the posts below.

Now, let’s try to create another title. This time, a “Here’s Why” title:

Idea : Oranges.

Good Title : You Should Eat More Oranges.

Great Title : You Should Eat More Oranges: Here’s Why.

Perfect Title: You Should Eat Two Oranges A Day: Here’s Why.

#11 “Keyword:…” Titles

If you take a look at high authority websites, you’ll notice that quite often they publish posts with a keyword in the headline. Why?

“Keyword” titles are eye-catching because they feature a trigger word or phrase that sparks interest. They also either pose a question or offer more information about a topic, thus, they are educative and helpful.

When creating this title, you can be very creative!

It’s great for combining a few title examples in one. For example, “Keyword” + “Question?” title or “Keyword” + “Everything You Need To Know” title.

  • “…: An Eye-Opening Guide”
  • “…: Should You… Or…?”
  • “…: X Strategies On How To…”
  • “…: Here’s Why You Shouldn’t…”
  • “…: Mistakes To Avoid When…”

Also, check the posts below. Are the trigger words in the titles challenging?

  • Video Marketing: The Definitive Guide ( read ).
  • Writers: You Don’t Have To Starve (If You Do This) ( read ).

Let’s now brainstorm for an idea and write our own “Keyword” blog title. What would you say for Swiss watches?

Idea : Swiss Watches.

Good Title : Swiss Watches: Why Are They The Best?

Great Title : Swiss Watches: 10 Reasons Why They Are The Best.

Perfect Title: Swiss Watches: 10 Reasons Why They Are No. 1 On The Market.

#12 “Increase Your… With…” Titles.

This type of title lets you be very flexible about the choice of the first word. It might be “increase,” “get more” or “be better.” There are many possibilities, so do some brainstorming!

“Increase Your… With…” title works because it’s to the point and states exactly what the article is going to be about.

Let’s take a look at some common variations of the title above:

  • “Boost… With…”
  • “Get More… With…”
  • “Create Better… With…”
  • “Become… With…”
  • “Sell More… With…”

Also, check these 3 posts from authority websites. Do these blog post titles make you want to click?

Idea : Weight Loss.

Good Title : Lose Weight By Exercising.

Great Title : Lose Weight With These Fat-Burning Exercises.

Perfect Title: Lose More Weight Faster With These 12 Fat-Burning Exercises.

#13 “Stop Doing This” Blog Post Titles

This is a very interesting title that I have spotted on a number of websites. Why does it work?

The “Stop Doing This” title works because it teaches you an important lesson on something you’re doing but shouldn’t do, and tells you why it’s wrong or what will you gain if you refrain from doing that.

Check this interesting, creative ways in which you can use the “Stop Doing This” headline:

  • “Stop Doing… For Better…”
  • “… Myths You Need To Stop Believing Now”
  • “Stop Being…: Here’s How…”
  • “Stop Ruining… With…”
  • “Stop Making These X… Mistakes When…”

Now, take a look at the posts below. Are they popular? How many people clicked them and shared on social media?

Are you getting the hang of improving your blog post titles? Isn’t it easy?

#14 “… Vs…” Titles

vs title

This is a simple comparison of two items, thoughts or ideas. Sometimes you might come across a similar title, that is “The Differences Between,” but it’s long and ordinary. On the other hand, the “… Vs…” title is short and to the point.

“…Vs…” headlines get many clicks because people find comparisons useful. Before downloading a program or buying new equipment we want to know upfront if it’s better than other items available on the market.

Here’s how you can insert the “…Vs…” phrase into your title:

  • “…Vs…: Which One Should You Buy?”
  • “…Vs…: Which One Works Better With…”
  • “…Vs…: What Is Better (For Your…)?”
  • “… Vs…: How To…”
  • “… Vs…: A Guide To…”

Also, here are a few blog post headlines featuring the above title. Do their headlines draw attention?

  • Content Marketing Vs. Native Advertising: What’s A Better Value? ( read ).
  • Lifestyle Business vs. Startup: Which Is Right for You? ( read ).

Now, let’s create another equally unique blog headline following the common “… Vs…” template:

Idea : Glasses And Contact Lenses.

Good Title : Glasses Vs. Contact Lenses.

Great Title : Glasses Vs. Contact Lenses: Which Should You Buy?

Perfect Title: Glasses Vs. Contact Lenses: Which Should You Buy And Why?

#15 “The Simple…” Titles

The last title we’re going to discuss is “The Simple” title. Doesn’t it speak for itself? Simple title, simple ideas, simple solutions, simple remedies… Doesn’t the promise of being simple encourage you to read the post?

“The Simple” title is eye-catching because of the word “simple,” which promises that in the article, you’ll find ideas or solutions to your problems that are NOT complicated, hard to understand, or difficult to do.

Check some of the creative varieties of “The Simple” blog post title:

  • “The Simple X-Step Guide To…”
  • “The Simple Solution To…”
  • “… Made Simple: X Steps To…”
  • “X Simple Tactics That’ll…”
  • “A Simple… Strategy For…”

Also, take a look at these three articles. Do they promise help? How many shares do they have?

Now, let’s once again create our own special title.

Idea : Blog Post Titles.

Perfect Title: Writing Catchy Blog Post Titles Made Simple: 12 Steps.

Tools to Help Create Better Headlines

If you’re still feeling stuck creating catchy blog post titles, there are tools out there that can help you get the ball rolling. Here are a few headline generators to try:

Sumo’s Kickass Headline Generator

This is a fun one . If the blank page is really getting you down, try this fill-in-the-blank approach. Pick a type of headline (lists, how to’s) and fill in key information like topic and desired outcome, and click generate. You’ll get a bunch of ideas that can get you going.

Co-Schedules Headline Analyzer

This one won’t help you write the headlines, per see — you still need to come up with your blog titles. But, it does give you a quick analysis letting you know how your headline scores across a couple of metrics with a few tips for improvement. It’s an easy way to see how small tweaks can massively improve your headlines .

AI Writing Tools

If you’ve been paying attention online, you’ve probably seen the explosion of AI writing tools like Jasper and ChatGPT. Rather than be nervous about these tools, we think they can be amazing ways to help writers . And, yes, they can help you generate tons of blog headlines in seconds.

Copywriting Skills

One of the best ways to get better at writing blog titles? Copywriting . Learning some basic copywriting skills can help you become a much better writer, even if you don’t want to pursue that as a career right now. Trust me on this, learning how to write copy has been one of the biggest successes behind my business growth over the yeras.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, writing creative, eye-catching blog post titles that work doesn’t have to be complicated. Remember, when creating your own unique title, combine ideas! Don’t use just one template. Use 2 or 3 and experiment! And if you’re going to use a blog post title generator, don’t rely only on it, try mixing and matching.

Check the title of this blog post. How many templates does it follow? Is it still unique?

As you can see, the KEY to writing a catchy and unique title is to come up with an original idea, expand on it and combine several title templates to make one, perfect title. Be creative!

If you like this article and found it helpful, share it with your friends! If you have other ideas on which titles get many clicks, let me know about them in the comments below.

How to write catchy blog titles: 12 tips and examples

When you decided to how to make a website and start a blog , you probably weren’t thinking about the intricacies involved in writing blog titles. But the reality is that blog post titles are the gateway to your content and an important part of your blog format . They play an important role in capturing your readers’ attention and helping your content to stand out from the sea of content amongst all the other type of websites that exist today.

However, coming up with the perfect blog title can be a challenge. Not only does your title have to be catchy, but it has to be informative and succinct. In this article, we’ll explore how to craft engaging blog titles that draw in readers. We’ll look at creative examples, as well as tips for improving your blog headlines and making them click-worthy.

Looking to design a unique blog? Learn how to create a blog with a blog maker like Wix.

Why are blog titles important?

Blog titles have the power to shape a reader’s first impression of your article. They’re often the first thing readers see on Google or a social media post promoting your content—and often what convinces them (or scare them away) from clicking into your site. It goes without saying that if you don’t get clicks, then your posts don’t get read.

Aside from this, the right blog title can encourage more social media shares and help you rank better in search engine result pages (SERPs). That’s why it’s important to put thought into crafting the best blog title that takes into consideration your target keyword, core audience and overall message.

How to write a good blog post title: 12 tips

When it comes to creating engaging titles, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Different types of blogs require different approaches. For instance, a news site needs titles that clearly communicate the story headlined by their post, while a food blog needs catchy titles that make readers salivate just with the words alone.

Whatever genre you write in, though, there are some tips and tricks you can use to create captivating headlines that will draw readers into your post:

Browse other blogs for inspiration

Research your competitors

Learn the basic blog title formulas

Use a name generator for ideas

Know your audience

Cater to emotions

Experiment with alliteration and other techniques

Avoid clickbait

Get specific

Incorporate a focus keyword

Draft multiple titles

Conduct A/B tests

01. Browse other blogs for ideas

Start your blog journey by perusing your favorite blog examples for inspiration. Take a close look into the blogosphere at the titles used within these blogs. Check the posts that gain the most attention (judging by comments, social shares and other indicators) and think about what makes them so appealing from the reader’s perspective.

As you do your research, you’ll notice that there are certain words that can make the headline stand out. In addition, you’ll notice that certain types of title formats and content are more compelling than others—for instance, listicles and how-to posts tend to generate interest by immediately satisfying the reader’s need.

On the flip side, try to identify blog title formats that don’t seem to resonate, and explore why that might be. Does it have to do with the nature of the piece? Or, does the title make the posts seem uninteresting?

Take note of which title formats are your least and most favorite, and use these as a guiding set of principles when crafting your own blog post titles.

02. Research your competitors

Take a magnifying glass to your competitors’ content. Browse the titles that seem to be resonating most with your shared audiences. Consider signing up for your competitors’ newsletter and checking out their social media accounts to see how their approach to title might vary from channel to channel.

Keep in mind that your business competitors are not necessarily your SEO competitors. The former consists of websites that rank high for your target keywords on search engines. You can discover your SEO competitors using tools like Semrush of Ahrefs. Or, simply google a keyword and look at the first page of results.

For example, let’s say you're starting a fashion blog and want to write a post about the best joggers for women. When you search your keyword in Google, here’s what you see.

There’s a good mix of titles here:

“The Best Joggers for Women 2020” (which links to a best-of roundup)

“10 Best Joggers” (listicle)

“Best Joggers For Women That Are Soft, Stylish, & Chic” (best-of roundup that highlights specific characteristics)

“The 22 Best Joggers for Women That Are Outselling Jeans…” (listicle with big promises)

“20 Best Sweatpants for Women 2020 - Stylish Joggers for…” (combination of a listicle and annual roundup)

From looking at these results, you might decide that a title promising even more ideas (e.g., “50 best joggers”) than competitors is the way to go. Alternatively, you might choose to experiment with a more descriptive title that hones in a specific point that competitors don’t address (e.g., “Best joggers for women who work from home and just can’t be bothered”).

Of course, you don’t want to copy the competitions’ blog post titles too closely, but you do want to make sure your own blogs capture a similar intent. Make sure that your readers know what to expect when clicking onto your page.

03. Learn the basic blog title formulas

Now that you know some of the main principles of writing great blog titles, let’s get into the specifics about the basic structure of your headline. There are six title structures that have proven highly effective in getting clicks and shares:

Numbers: Numbers give readers a clear idea of what they’re about to get from a post and have long been used to break up text and deliver a catchy headline (e.g., “12 Things to Stop Doing at Work If You Want a Raise”).

Superlatives: Unlike school superlatives which were often tongue-in-cheek, blog superlatives are genuinely useful for consumers and often aim to introduce a certain category of content (e.g., “50 Greatest Bands to See in Concert” or “The Ultimate Guide to Dating in Your 50s”).

Questions: One of the issues that may arise when writing a blog is that it comes off sounding too one-sided—but when you introduce a question in the title, it sets the tone that the content is going to be conversational versus lecture-like (e.g., “Why Does Your Dog Sneeze When They’re Playing?” or “What’s the Best Accounting Software for Freelancers?”).

How-tos: “How to” queries are still one of the most frequently searched phrases on Google, making “how to” a mainstay of high-performing headlines (e.g., “How to Build a Website for Less Than $250”).

Bracketed descriptors: This kind of blog post title includes a descriptor within a set of brackets, which tend to be visually engaging. You could always include content descriptors without using brackets, but the brackets call extra attention to your descriptors (e.g., “Tips for Planning Your Content Calendar like a Pro [Free Templates]” or “How to Make Old World-Style Pizza [Video]”).

The big reveal: Many of the headline types above are contingent on readers actually knowing what their problem is and being able to articulate it. The big reveal title, however, is used when you have something to share that few others can (e.g., “5 Secrets I Learned While Working for Pee-wee Herman”).

04. Use a name generator tool for inspiration and ideas

Writer’s block happens to the best of us. When this happens, there’s no better friend to turn to than a blog name generator or a blog post title generator . These tools can be extremely useful when crafting title ideas, since they offer a range of potentially catchy titles to consider in a matter of seconds.

Simply input elements such as keywords, genre and even emotions that you want to capture with your title to retrieve a list of ideas. A name generator can usually deliver hundreds of potential title ideas to choose from, so it’s an efficient way to get fresh ideas fast—cutting out much of the manual research.

05. Know your audience

Knowing your audience is about more than just identifying their age, demographics and interests. In order to let them guide the blog titles you choose, you’ll want to take your research one step further and learn how to speak in their everyday language.

For example, let’s say you have a photography blog that serves as an inspirational resource for hobbyists. You write roundups on photography trends while also providing brief tutorials. If you’re writing a post for an audience of beginners, you’ll want to keep industry jargon to a minimum.

So, rather than using a blog post title like “7 HDR photography tips,” consider something like “WTF is high dynamic range (HDR)?” or “What is dynamic range in photography, and how do you use it?”

The “what is” format might seem plain in comparison to the previous example, but it’s much more straightforward and makes the topic feel less intimidating to beginners.

06. Cater to the emotions of readers

It’s no surprise that emotions are powerful drivers of behavior. Using emotional modifiers (like "heartwarming”—or even “free” and “best”) in your titles can create a more engaging experience for viewers by letting readers know in advance how they should expect to feel after reading your post.

Alternatively, you can play into your audiences’ emotions without being as explicit about it. For example, instead of “5 of the Scariest Video Games of All Time” you could say “5 of the Best Horror Video Games to Play in the Dark.”

Sometimes, creating the emotional setting in your title is more engaging than actually spelling out the emotion. So, when you craft your blog titles, don’t automatically rush for ones that sound edgy or sexy. Pinpoint the emotions you want to evoke with your article, as well as what your readers might be feeling before they click in.

07. Experiment with alliteration and other techniques

Not every blog post title needs to be a zinger. However, you might find that there are times when a clever headline is more effective at capturing a reader’s attention than a straightforward one, especially if you’re looking to promote your blog on social media

But what, exactly, makes a title catchy? Alliteration is one popular strategy.

For example, rather than using the title “13 Superstitions in the U.S.,” consider a zestier title like “13 Silly Superstitions Still in Circulation Today.”

Similarly, a play on words or a witty joke could help to grab attention. Some examples:

“From Bored Room to Boardroom: Tips for Corporate Success”

“The Write Stuff: Tips and Tricks for Creative Writing”

“Recipes and Kitchen Tips That’ll Help You Cook up a Storm This Thanksgiving”

08. Avoid clickbait

The best blog post titles are click-worthy without being clickbait-y. What’s the difference, you ask?

Click-worthy titles capture attention while setting the right expectations about what the reader is about to see. Clickbait headlines , on the other hand, use shock, fear and/or exaggeration to draw in as many readers as possible. They’re often misleading and hyperbolize the contents of an article.

The danger with this is that readers may walk away feeling disappointed or duped by your article. Furthermore, your click-through rate becomes nothing more than a vanity metric at this point.

To ensure that you’re not simply relying on clickbait-y titles, check your click-through rate against other important data like:

How much time the average reader spends on your post

How many blog posts they read during their session

What other actions they take after reading your posts

Comments and other reader feedback

Rather than shocking your readers or exaggerating your main points, create honest, meaningful titles that promise real value to your audience.

09. Get specific

Today’s consumers have very short attention spans, thanks to all the distractions and choices they’re bombarded with on a daily basis. With that in mind, your blog title isn’t the place to be mysterious or abstract.

To captivate your readers, make sure that your title clearly tells readers what they’re going to get out of the post. This also helps set the tone for how detailed or serious your post will be, and ensures that your content matches their expectations.

10. Incorporate a focus keyword

You don’t only need to impress your readers with your headlines. You also need to impress Google—or, more accurately, make it easy for Google’s bots to read and understand what your post is about.

By including your focus keyword in the H1 (or title) of your post, you can help inform search engines about the purpose of your blog. Note: your H1 isn’t the same as your title tag , it’s best practice to keep these consistent for SEO and user experience purposes.

Let’s say you're starting a food blog that helps to promote your meal delivery business. Using Semrush, you can see that “healthy food subscription box” gets around 260 searches a month. While this is a low-volume keyword, it attracts people with the right intent. Therefore, you write your blog and title with this keyword in mind.

You come up with the title “25 Healthy Food Subscription Boxes to Check Out.”

As a general rule of thumb, you’ll want to place your primary keyword as close to the front of your title as possible. By placing it upfront, you let both Google and readers know this is the main focus of the post.

Make sure you use this keyword technique in conjunction with other blog SEO strategies—choosing the right keyword is just one piece of the puzzle.

11. Draft multiple titles

Chances are you won’t come up with the perfect blog title right away, and that’s okay. In fact, it’s best to come up with about five to 10 titles for each post before landing on your final title.

Why? The more you practice, the better you’ll get at writing the perfect headline.

What’s more, creating multiple versions of the same title gives you workable options that you can use to promote your content across your newsletter, social media and other channels.

Lastly, this will give you ideas for A/B testing multiple titles (see below).

12. Conduct A/B tests

A/B testing is a scientific experiment that you might run for a variety of reasons—be it web design, copy, headlines, images, colors and more. You can essentially run A/B tests on any marketing channel that you use. This could be your blog, newsletter, social media posts and/or ads. Here’s are some simple steps for achieving this:

Choose a single element that you want to test. In this case, it’s your blog post headline.

Come up with a hypothesis. For instance, “If I write this title using a superlative, it’ll get more clicks than if I write it as a question.”

Create at least two variations of your title: one (or more) with a superlative, and another that serves as your control.

Run the test, splitting your traffic evenly between your different variants. Traffic should be randomly split by your A/B testing tool.

Check the test results for a set period of time or until statistical significance is achieved. Analyze the results to determine which variant is the winner.

Update your blog with the winning title. Apply your learnings to your blog and consider running additional A/B tests.

This method is useful for creating the best blog titles and identifying trends in the types of headlines that your readers prefer. It’ll take some of the guesswork out of title creation in the future.

Four arrested after Spanish blogger on India motorcycle tour gangraped

Women in India protest rape

Indian authorities have arrested four people suspected of being part of a group that gangraped a Spanish tourist and assaulted her partner.

The woman – whose identity was not revealed by the authorities – is a travel blogger with more than 200,000 followers on Instagram.

She was travelling with her partner in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand when the attack happened on Friday night.

The couple had stopped their motorbikes and set up a tent to pass the night in the state’s Dumka district before a group of seven men attacked them.

All the members of the group have been identified and the remaining suspects will be arrested “soon”, Jharkhand police chief Ajay Kumar Singh told The Indian Express newspaper.

“They had beaten us and robbed us, although not many things [were taken] because what they wanted was to rape me,” the 28-year-old woman said in an Instagram post.

In another post, her male partner said he was hit several times in the head with a helmet and that his “mouth is destroyed”.

A patrol car rescued the duo late on Friday night after the assault and escorted them to a local hospital.

The couple were touring South Asia and had concluded a trip to Sri Lanka before the Indian leg of their journey.

Sexual violence targeting women is common in India, with women from minority tribal communities being particularly at risk. Taboos around speaking up about the crime and low conviction rates of suspects add to the problem.

An average of nearly 90 rapes were reported in India every day, meaning one woman was raped every 18 minutes, in 2022, according to the National Crime Records Bureau, which recorded 31,516 rape cases that year.

Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh states recorded the highest number of cases.

10 Surprising Facts About Women’s History Month

Demonstrators Take Part In The Women's March On Washington Following The Inauguration Of President Trump

T he U.S. and other countries, including the U.K. and Australia, are celebrating Women’s History Month in March, featuring International Women’s Day on March 8.

This year, President Joe Biden said in his proclamation declaring Women’s History Month that during this time, “we celebrate the courageous women who have helped our Nation build a fairer, more just society.”

Here are 10 surprising facts about Women’s History Month.

International Women’s Day was first recognized in Europe

Many reports trace the origins of a holiday honoring women to New York City in 1909, to the commemoration of a garment workers’ strike.

In 1910, German activist Clara Zetkin suggested to the International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen the creation of an international holiday to honor women. Europeans recognized International Women’s Day in 1911, although the U.S. did not follow suit.

International Women’s Day’s date was chosen because of the Russian revolution

The date of March 8 became significant in 1917, when women in the Russian capital of Petrograd protested and went on strike, demanding food and the end of the empire. A week later, the Tsar abdicated. Zetkin reportedly suggested in 1921 that March 8 become International Women’s Day as a result.

Women’s History Month started as a local week

Women’s History Month began as a local week-long celebration in Santa Rosa, California in 1978, according to the online National Women’s History Museum. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women planned the week and timed it with International Women’s Day.

Local advocates then formed the National Women’s History Project, now the National Women’s History Alliance, to share women’s achievements. One of the group’s members, Molly Murphy MacGregor, participated in The Women’s History Institute at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, where others were inspired to start their own week celebrations, according to the group’s website. By 1986, 14 states had already declared March as Women’s History Month.

It took years for Women’s History Month to be federally recognized

In 1980, the National Women’s History Project led a coalition of women’s groups successfully lobbied President Jimmy Carter to issue a proclamation recognizing National Women’s History Week, National Geographic reported . It took until 1987 for Congress to pass a law designating March as Women’s History Month.

The U.S. president designates Women’s History Month every year

Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed resolutions requesting and authorizing the president to proclaim the special month. Since 1995, each president has issued an annual proclamation designating Women’s History Month.

Former President Barack Obama’s 2011 proclamation paid homage to the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, saying the holiday “is a chance to pay tribute to ordinary women throughout the world and is rooted in women's centuries-old struggle to participate in society on an equal footing with men. This day reminds us that, while enormous progress has been made, there is still work to be done before women achieve true parity.”

There is an annual theme for Women’s History Month

The National Women’s History Alliance sets a theme for the month every year. This year’s theme is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.”

“The theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions,” a statement from the alliance on its choice read.

Women’s History Month is celebrated differently in Canada

Women’s History Month has spread around the world, from the Philippines to the U.K . In the latter, Mother’s Day is also celebrated in March. While Women’s History Month is generally commemorated in March, Canada holds their celebrations in October.

International Women’s Day is an official holiday in some countries

Some countries mark International Women’s Day as an official holiday, Sky History reported. In China, many women can take a half-day holiday. In Serbia and Albania, International Women’s Day is also Mother’s Day.

International Women’s Day is celebrated with certain colors

Purple, green, and white are the colors of International Women's Day, according to the International Women’s Day website. The colors reportedly originated from suffragists in the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the U.K. in the early 1900s and were transported to the U.S.

Actions this year will focus on abortion rights

The Women’s March organization, which ran its first prominent march in 2017 a day after Donald Trump’s inauguration, is planning a rally in Washington D.C. on March 26, when the Supreme Court will begin hearing oral arguments in a case about the abortion pill .

The Supreme Court issued a temporary order in 2023 that put on hold a Texas federal judge’s order to suspend the federal government’s approval of the abortion pill. The March hearing will be the first major case concerning abortion since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.
