Safari Not Working on Your iPhone? Here’s How to Fix It

Ojash Yadav

Although iPhones and iPads support other apps to reach the Web, Safari remains the most favored and frequently used browser for iOS users. Troubleshooting on Safari can be frustrating, especially if its issues prevent you from searching for a solution online. Here are a few common reasons why Safari may not be working on your iPhone and how to fix the problems.

Turn on Mobile Data for the Safari App

Disable experimental features, change your network settings.

Test Your Internet Connection

To begin with, ensure that the problem is with Safari and not with your internet connection. For this, open, say, a non-Apple app like Facebook or Chrome, and see whether the website or the feed loads. If it does, then Safari is at fault. Otherwise, your internet connection is at fault. If it’s the former, move on to the next step.

If you’ve been exploring your iPhone’s data-saving features, which let you specify which apps have access to your phone’s mobile data, then there’s a chance that you turned off mobile data for the Safari app. That means Safari will work when you’re connected to Wi-Fi but not to mobile data. (Try running Safari over Wi-Fi to test this.)

If that’s the case, then to turn mobile data back on for Safari, go to “Settings -> Mobile Data,” and then in the “Mobile Data” list, make sure the slider next to Safari is in the green “On” position.

You may not know about this, but Safari for the iPhone has a whole load of experimental features that you can disable and enable as you please.

The problem with these, as the name suggests, is that they are indeed experimental and subsequently don’t all work properly. Disabling them one by one can fix Safari if it’s not working and help you discover which exact feature was causing the problem,

On your iPhone, go to “Settings -> Safari -> Advanced -> Experimental Features.”

If you have more than one feature enabled here, disable just one, then check to see if Safari works normally again. If it doesn’t, re-enable that feature (if you want it) and disable the next one. Keep repeating this procedure until Safari starts working again.

Try resetting your Wi-Fi connection and reconnecting to the network.

  • Go to “Settings -> Wi-Fi” and turn it off, then turn it back on after a few seconds.

Turn Off And Turn On Wifi

  • If you’re using mobile data, go to “Settings -> Mobile Data” and turn “Mobile Data” off and back on after a few seconds.

  • If neither option works, go to “Settings -> Wi-Fi,” connect to a different Wi-Fi network, and try loading the web page again.

Change Wifi Network

If the problem persists, try restoring your network settings to their original configuration.

  • Go to “Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset” and choose “Reset Network Settings.”

Common Problems With Safari And How To Solve Them

By following the fixes we’ve mentioned above, you should be able to revive Safari and make it work normally again. However, there are some specific issues that commonly come up with Safari. Here’s how to solve them.

Problem: Safari Crashed and Won’t Open

If you’ve ever panicked after Safari closed unexpectedly and couldn’t get the app to start, you probably encountered a bug that affects Safari’s search engine suggestions. This issue can cause the app to crash, freeze, or fail to start altogether. Although the bug usually plagues devices running iOS 10, it can affect just about any iPhone or iPad.

How to Fix It: Disable Search Engine Suggestions

Go to “Settings” and choose “Safari” in your list of apps. Here, find “Search Engine Suggestions” and turn it off.

Turn Off Seqarch Engine Suggestions

This feature offers suggestions for what you can search for as you type into Safari’s search bar. Disabling it gets rid of the problem for many users.

Problem: Safari Is Gray (and Won’t Open)

Sometimes when you update your iPhone’s iOS to a newer version, you may encounter a bug that turns some apps gray and prevent them from opening. This bug causes Safari to stop working and turns its icon gray when you switch to another app while Safari is running in the background.

How to Fix It: Update Your Software

To solve this problem, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. Apple includes important bug fixes in each software update, so it’s important to keep your iPhone or iPad up to date. iOS 11.1 fixed this bug for most users, so be sure to update to 11.1 or greater if you’re running an older version of iOS.

Go to “Settings -> General,” choose “Software Update,” and install the latest update.

Problem: Safari Is Slow

As powerful as your iPhone can be, it can get bogged down with all the extraneous information that it processes. If you notice that Safari takes longer to load pages or graphics, it may be time to do some housekeeping. Try clearing your browser history, website data, and cache to make Safari run more smoothly.

How to Fix It: Clear Your Data

To delete your cookies, cache, and browsing history, go to “Settings -> Safari,” choose “Clear History and Data,” and confirm that you want to go ahead. Safari will remember your AutoFill information if you choose this option.

Clear Website Data Safari

To keep your browsing history but clear your cache and cookies, first go to “Settings -> Safari -> Advanced.”

Safari Advance Settings Menu

There, choose “Website Data -> Remove All Website Data” and tap “Remove Now.” Note that Safari will not remember your AutoFill information if you choose this option.

Remove Website Data Safari 2

To remove only a portion of your browsing history, cache, and cookies, start by opening Safari and tapping the Bookmark icon. Here, open your history and tap “Clear.” Now Safari will give you the option to clear your history, cookies, and browsing data from the past hour, the past day, the past 48 hours, or from your entire history. Pick the relevant option.

Problem: Safari Still Isn’t Working

Although it sounds cliche, turning your phone off and back on again can be the solution to any number of Safari-related issues.

How to Fix It: Restart Safari or Reboot Your Phone

If none of the previous fixes help solve your problem, try restarting the app or rebooting your phone.

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and press on the screen when your finger is near the center to open the multitasking view, and then swipe up on Safari to close it. This will reset Safari.
  • To shut down your phone, press and hold the sleep/wake button until a slider appears. Slide to the right to power off your phone. For iPhone X and above, press and hold the side button and one of the volume buttons until the slider appears. Then slide it to the right to power off your phone.

10 Ways to Fix Safari Not Working on an iPhone

Follow these simple troubleshooting steps to fix Safari if it isn’t working properly on your iPhone.

Safari is the native browser for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. It comes pre-installed on almost every Apple device, and it's designed to be fast and efficient for them. However, there are times when Safari doesn't work.

When this happens, it usually means there's a setting or software issue. There are even cases where you might not be able to access the internet at all on your iPhone or iPad. Luckily, there are a variety of things you can try to get Safari working again.

1. Restart Your Device

You hear it all the time—turn your device off and on again. While this may sound too simple to work, restarting your iPhone or iPad has been known to clear your usable memory, which can speed up Safari.

If Safari is frozen or just a blank white screen, restarting your iPhone or iPad can also fix these problems. Before you try anything else, just make sure you cover the basics.

If you're new to Safari or Apple devices, you might want to check out our beginner's guide to Safari for iPhone and iPad users .

2. Turn Off Safari Suggestions

Turning off Safari Suggestions is one of the simplest and most common fixes for Safari not loading or crashing on an Apple device. While we aren't sure why this works, many users have reported that turning this off fixes the problem.

To turn off suggestions, head to Settings > Safari > Safari Suggestions and turn this off. You can also turn off Search Engine Suggestions while you're there too, as some users reported this also fixes the issue.

Some users have also said that blocking Safari popups on your iPhone can improve the memory usage of Safari. So, you may also want to give this a try.

If this fixes your issue, then you're all set. If not, try the following steps.

3. Turn On Cellular Data for Safari

If you're frequently connected to Wi-Fi, you may have cellular data off for Safari to save internet data. While helpful, if your Wi-Fi isn't functioning right, connecting to cellular data could fix your issue.

To do this, head to Settings > Cellular > Safari and turn this on. If it was off, this was most likely the cause of your issue. Alternatively, you can turn off Wi-Fi if you're connected and just connect with cellular data. If you can connect this way, that means there's a network issue with your Wi-Fi network.

4. Edit Your Screen Time Settings

If you've ever changed your Screen Time settings or blocked certain websites through Screen Time, try turning these settings off. To block websites, you need to enable Content Restrictions which can inadvertently block websites you still want to use. If you can't load a link from an email or text message, this could also be a sign that content restrictions are on.

To fix this issue, head to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn this option off. If it was on, then this was most likely your issue. If it was off already, proceed to the next fix.

5. Clear All Safari's Data

If you frequently use Safari, you might have a lot of data stored within the app, making it fail to load correctly. This is especially true if you're using an iPhone or iPad with a lower storage capacity. If you get low storage notifications, this fix could resolve your issue.

To clear Safari's data, head to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data . This will erase all extra data in the Safari app. Some users report this works, but you'll need to do it often if you can't eliminate storage space elsewhere on your iPhone.

6. Update iOS to the Latest Version

Some users have reported that updating iOS resolves issues with Safari. Whether Safari isn't loading, is crashing, or just isn't connecting to websites, try updating iOS on your iPhone .

Apple does a great job of fixing widespread issues with iOS updates. So, if there is an issue that Apple is aware of, it could get fixed by a subsequent update.

7. Reset Your Network Settings

If you've had issues with your network before, like not getting service or pages timing out, resetting your Network Settings could help.

To reset the Network Settings on your iPhone or iPad, head to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone (iPad) > Reset > Reset Network Settings . This will reset only your Network Settings and won't erase any other data on your iPhone.

After you finish this, try opening Safari to see if it's working again. If not, proceed to the next fix.

8. Reset to Factory Default Settings

If all else fails, you can try resetting your iPhone to the default settings. This will erase all the data on your iPhone, and you'll have to set it up from scratch. However, this is also a very effective way to resolve all kinds of software problems. To do this, head to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone (iPad) > Erase All Content and Settings .

After resetting to the default settings, test out the Safari app before you install your usual apps. If Safari is working then but stops working when a certain app is installed, that means the app installed is interfering with Safari.

If Safari isn't working when you have a fresh install, make sure you didn't restore a backup of your iPhone or iPad . If you restored a backup, there could be something interfering with Safari that transferred over. If you reset your device without a backup and Safari still doesn't work, you can try one of the two last troubleshooting steps.

9. Turn On JavaScript

JavaScript is on by default on most iOS devices. However, if you're having issues with Safari, it's likely that JavaScript is off. Sometimes, one might turn JavsScript off as some websites might not support it.

If you've turned JavaScript off or want to check if it's off and turn it back on, head to Settings > Safari > Advanced on your iOS or iPadOS device.

10. Use an Alternative Browser

If the above fixes didn't work, then unfortunately, there might be an iOS bug with Safari, and you'll need to wait for the next update and hope it's patched. Until then, you can try using an alternative browser to access the internet on your device. There are many great browsers available in the App Store that can cater to your needs.

Be sure to check back for iOS updates and see if Apple has addressed the bug. You can also start a new discussion in the Apple Discussions Community to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

Safari Not Working on Your iPhone or iPad? It's Most Likely a Software Issue

Cracked screens and broken buttons are easy to diagnose as we can instantly see what's wrong. But when Safari or other apps on your iPhone stop working, that usually means a software issue is at play.

You can usually fix these issues by updating iOS, changing your settings, or resetting your device. However, if the issue still isn't fixed after trying everything above, you might need to post in the Apple forum about your issue for more help.

How to fix Safari not working on iPhone after iOS 17 update

Last Updated on December 3, 2023 by Dave Johnson

Some users have reported that Safari doesn’t load websites or webpages after iOS 17 update. There could be many reasons for Safari not working on your iPhone after iOS 17 update. This is especially an issue when you rely heavily on Safari to browse the internet.

Fortunately, most iOS 17 Safari problems are minor and can be fixed within a few minutes without much technical knowledge. Just follow the steps below to fix Safari if it isn’t working properly on your iPhone after iOS 17 update.

Note: Information in this article applies to the iPhone 11 series, 12 series, 13, 14, and 15 series iPhones.

How to fix Safari not working on iPhone in iOS 17

1. update safari.

Before you do anything, make sure that Safari is up-to-date. It is possible that a software update may fix your problem. Safari is part of iOS and included with iOS. This means when you update iOS, Safari will also be updated. This further means that you need to update iOS to install the latest Safari updates. Here is how:

  • Go to Settings and tap on General .
  • Tap on Software Update and install any available updates.

2. Close Safari and then reopen it

One of the ways you can fix minor app glitches on iOS is by force-quitting problematic apps.

So, if Safari is still not working for you, then you should force-quit and reopen the app. Here’s how:

  • iPhone XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15, go to your Home screen and swipe up from the bottom of the screen. If this is an iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation), double press the Home button.
  • This will reveal the app switcher which lists your most recently used apps.
  • Swipe left or right and find the Safari preview.
  • Swipe up on the Safari icon.
  • Then reopen Safari normally to see if your issue is resolved.

3. Internet connection issues?

It is possible that Safari is not working after iOS 17 update due to problems with internet connection. Lets first try to test that if you have a strong connection. Open the App Store app on your device, does the App Store app load without an issue? Then probably you have a connection. If not, you may try:

  • Turn on Airplane Mode and wait about 30 seconds and then turn it off (Settings > Airplane Mode).
  • Restart your modem and router by unplugging the power cord and wait about 1 minute and then plug them back in.
  • Try a different connection. If you are using a cellular connection, connect to a Wi-Fi network to see if your problem still occurs. If you are using a Wi-Fi connection, then try to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

4. Check for VPN and security software

Sometimes VPN can interfere with website loading on Safari. To disable VPN on your device, follow the steps below:

  • Open Settings , then tap on General .
  • Tap VPN & Device Management , then tap VPN .
  • Also, look at Settings > General > Profiles . If this option doesn’t exist, you don’t have any profiles installed. If you see something here, it may have been installed by the system administrator for your company, and you should talk to them.

5. Restart your iPhone

You hear it all the time—turn your device off and on again. While this may sound like a cliche fix, restarting your iPhone has been known to clear your usable memory, which can speed up Safari.

If Safari is frozen or just a blank white screen, restarting your iPhone can also fix these problems. Here’s how:

  • iPhone XR, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 : Press the side button and the volume up button until the Power Off slider appears. Slide it, then wait 30 seconds. Press the side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • iPhone SE(2nd or 3rd gen) : Press and hold the side button until the Power Off slider appears. Slide it, then wait 30 seconds. Press the side button until the Apple logo appears.

6. Turn off private relay

Private Relay works like a VPN and routes your Internet traffic through two separate relays to encrypt traffic and hide your IP address. If you have an iCloud Plus subscription, the setting is enabled by default. Private Relay can affect some websites. Here’s what to do:

  • Open Settings , then tap on your name at the top.
  • Tap on iCloud , then if Private Relay is on, tap on Private Relay .
  • Toggle the switch next to Private Relay to turn it off.
  • Select Turn Off Until Tomorrow . If you find that this is the problem, you may want to turn it off completely.

7. Disable extensions

Safari extensions are useful tools, but some of them, and ad blockers, in particular, might prevent Safari from working properly. If you are using extensions, disable them and see if that fixes your problem. Here’s how:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Safari .
  • Tap Extensions .
  • Turn off all of the extensions.

Now, force-quit Safari and open again. If Safari is now working, this means that one or more of your extensions are causing your problem. What you can do is to turn on extensions one by one until you find the problematic one. When you find it, you can update or delete the associated app to fix your problem. If Safari is not working still, you can now enable your extensions.

8. Clear out Safari data

This will remove history, cookies and other data. The history will be cleared from all of your devices signed into iCloud.

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone and then go into Safari .
  • Tap Clear History and Website Data .
  • Choose your time frame. You can choose all history .
  • Tap Clear History .

9. Check that JavaScript is enabled

JavaScript is on by default on most iOS devices. However, if you’re having issues with Safari, it’s likely that JavaScript is off. Sometimes, one might turn JavsScript off as some websites might not support it.

If you’ve turned JavaScript off or want to check if it’s off and turn it back on, follow the steps below:

  • Open Settings and tap on Safari .
  • Scroll down and tap on Advanced .
  • If JavaScript is off, toggle the switch to turn it on.

10. Turn off Safari experimental features

The experimental features of Safari give you access to upcoming web tools, ideas about web element changes, new browser initiatives, behavior adjustments, and other under-test development features by the Apple development team.

Sometimes, you’ll find activating these features beneficial to enhance the web app experience on Safari. However, if you don’t possess a clear idea of which experimental features of Safari are beneficial, you shouldn’t toy with this section of the Safari web browser application. Here’s how to check and disable Safari experimental features on your iPhone:

  • Open Settings .
  • scroll down and tap Advanced .
  • Tap Experimental Features . And toggle off everything here. If this does not resolve your problem, you can turn them on again.

11. Reset Network Settings

You can Reset Network Settings if nothing else has fixed your iOS 17 Safari problems. Resetting network settings can solve a variety of connection problems, however, you will need to set up all of your Wi-Fi networks again. Copy down your Wi-Fi networks and their passwords, then Reset Network Settings by following the steps below:

  • Go to Settings , then tap General .
  • Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone , then Reset .
  • Tap Reset Network Settings , then follow onscreen instructions.

12. Contact Apple Support

If none of the above has solved your iOS 17 Safari issues, you may want to contact Apple Support for more help.

Settings, Safari, Advanced, Experimental Features, and turn on HTTP/3 and this stopped the “Google detected unusual traffic” captcha for me after doing some research it appears that Google uses HTTP/3 and some carriers are not on board with this yet and so Google thinks you’re a robot, I hope this helps.

Jan 5, 2021 3:19 PM in response to Julia8219

Again have you tried going to safari, advanced, experimental features, and turning on HTTP/3 because for me on AT&T network where I live I consistently get “Google detected unusual traffic from your computer network” but the second I turned that on from a friends recommendation sure enough the block went away also though to solve getting those issues you could always just sign into Google and that also stopped Google from thinking I was a robot.

Maybe it’s too late but sharing an update. Happened to me few days back...no chance at all search anything via Safari on Google. Always did pop up message with Unusual traffic, not even able to pass Captcha as after verification another Captcha request appeared. Cleared history and website data, checked for Malware... nothing. Exactly. Very frustrating. None of the proposed solutions work. I had noticed this problem intermittently in past months and now it’s nonstop. Generally, the web suggests it’s an internet Id issue but that makes no sense given that it only happens with Siri and Youtube.

None of these solutions worked for me. It seems to be the way that Siri is sending search results to open Youtube.

It works if I tell Siri "Look on youtube for..." and it displays a grid of videos to click.

If I just click the Siri search result after saying "hey siri...i have this question..." then click whatever link there for a youtube, then it doesn't work, every time. I have tried all the suggestions to fix it. It is something in the way that the search is being sent from the Siri result, through google, to the youtube page.

I'd love to see more complaints about this, it does seem to be an apple issue in the way searches are being redirected from the Siri result to open a youtube search result from Siri.

It has nothing to do with location or device, it happens on multiple friends' ipads and iPhones I've tried, and happens whether or not I'm using Wifi or cellular and happens from multiple locations on cellular and wifi.

I'm having the same issue. When you say you logged into your google account, are you logging-in in the Safari browser from the google web page, or are you logging-in in the iOS settings of your phone?

I haven't been able to find a fix yet.

Deleted Safari history and website data and did a network reset (under General > Reset). Also had a ton of Safari tabs opened, so killed all of them in case they were simultaneously pinging Google. Not sure which, if any, helped, but haven’t gotten the error since.

There is no "experimental features" under Safari>advanced in my iPhone. Also this has nothing to do with Siri. At least on my phone. I've always kept Siri turned off. Siri drains my battery at an exponential rate & causes the phone to not charge correctly. I finally solved this problem entirely though. I bought an Android. I've owned several generations of iPhone since the very beginning but I'll never own an Apple product again. I've beome less & less of a fan of iPhones ever since iOS 6. When they got rid of the iPod app for the "music app" & started randomly deleting my music that was ripped from CDs I own & randomly deleteing my album art to replace with their incorrect album art. Now I've had enough. Good luck with their inferior products.

After many discussions with my VPN host, turning it on and off, all of the above suggestions etc etc, HunterRaze’s suggestion fixed this for me... it’s been about a week and no Google reCAPTCHA message, which was only happening on my iPhone and not PC or iPad. Just before this started I had dowloaded my latest iOS 14.4 update and my phone loads slower, I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Same problem here on my 2019 MacBook Pro 15''... I have had this problem for over a year now, and I still have it plus more. Not only do I still have to do the "reCAPTCHA-20 TIMES A DAY", but google search and my Gmail account, for the matter, won't acknowledge or recognize that I own all Apple products, not Android/Google products.

My biggest problem with all this mess is even before returning to a Gmail/Google account again I tried using just an "@iCloud Email Only" as my email and applied it while using my Mac and iPhone only as my devices..... So ALL APPLE 100%, and yet, among a ton of other issues I was still getting "reCAPTCHA"...... All while troubleshooting with Apple Support for over a year. Again remember I had no Gmail account, no Yahoo account and, no Outlook account, and I still can't go 15min without getting caught up with tons of Errors, reCAPTCHA's, Kernal Panics, Beachballed to death, hanging apps, freezing system, passwords changing on there own, putting a third party email as a "REACHED AT ONLY" on my apple account, then next time one of my devices ask for a password, for one reason or another It whips my (reached-at email) up to the top of both my devices as my appleid and takes my @icloud, which was my true appleid user sign-in and makes it an alias. I'am Apple **** and I can't find the freaking front door.

Troubleshooting, how to fix safari “this connection is not private” warnings.

safari error on iphone

Are you receiving an error message saying “This connection is not private” when you’re trying to access a website in Safari from iPhone, iPad, or Mac? Many users have seen this error at some point as they browse the web, and this can be bypassed or ignored quickly fixed regardless of what device you use.

This message pops up when Safari’s security check on the website’s certificate fails. You’ll likely face this issue when you’re visiting a website that uses an expired certificate, or HTTP instead of HTTPS when it’s not configured properly. The difference between the two is that the older HTTP doesn’t have an SSL certificate, and therefore they aren’t ‘secure’ by default. However, SSL certificates aren’t valid forever, so you might still face this issue on HTTPS sites when the SSL certificate has expired, if it’s setup incorrectly, or if it’s not issued by a legitimate certificate authority. Finally, you can also face this issue if the device viewing the website has a clock that isn’t set to the proper time, since that breaks the certificate check too.

In any event, if you use Safari on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you can still bypass the “This connection is not private” warning and access the site.

Important note: if you encounter a “This connection is not private” error message on a banking website, financial services site, email site, or anything where critically important data is submitted or exchanged, there may be something else going on and you should not attempt to bypass the warning message. Instead, check the URL to make sure it is correct, try again later, or contact the company directly.

How to Fix Safari “This Connection Is Not Private” Warnings on iPhone & iPad

Bypassing this error is actually a pretty simple and straightforward procedure, but most people don’t seem to read the error message completely. Just follow the steps below to get started.

safari error on iphone

Now, you’ll be able to view all the contents of the website like normal, but you’ll notice a “Not Secure” notice in the address bar .

How to Fix Safari “This Connection Is Not Private” Warnings on Mac

The procedure to bypass the warning is pretty similar on a macOS system too. Here’s how it works:

safari error on iphone

And there you have it, you’re viewing the site. Again on the Mac you’ll find the “Not Secure” website message in the address bar, indicating you should not transmit any important personal data like banking details, login information, etc on the URL. But if it’s simply an informational site where you are not inputting any personal data, there usually isn’t much concern.

Now you know how easy it is to fix “This connection is not private” warnings in Safari.

Although this warning is mostly a website-related issue, entering the wrong URL, an incorrect system clock, a VPN issue, or even corrupted browser cache can sometimes also be the reason why you see this warning. Therefore, you might want to double-check that you have the proper URL entered, that the device has the date and time and clock set properly (you can check in Settings on iPhone/iPad or System Preferences on Mac), and consider clearing your Safari browser cache . To do this on an iPhone or iPad, head over to Settings -> Safari and tap on “Clear History and Website Data”. For clearing the Safari cache on your Mac , just go to Safari -> Preferences from the menu bar. Additionally, if you’re using a VPN on your device, turn it off and visit the site again to see if you’re still getting the warning. If you read the warning message carefully, you’ll see that fixing your clock can also resolve this issue too.

You may see this error with or without browsing in Private mode in Safari too .

Similarly, you can run into a connection not private error in Google Chrome, with a similar resolution though the Chrome issue is almost always related to improper SSL certificates, expired certs, or a time/date error on the device itself.

We hope you were able to stop getting this error on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. How often do you get these warnings while browsing in Safari? Share your experiences, thoughts, and advice in the comments.

Not so simple. When you go to “visit website anyway” it then tells you website has been blocked. We don’t even have a choice.

So really, this article is misleading.

The article is accurate Heidi.

A blocked warning is a different warning from “This connection is not private”, you might be experiencing a blocked website form a firewall or from your ISP.

There is no way to access this website. The warnings do not give access in any way shape or form. It’s a Godaddy site but my iPad Pro 11 will not allow me to access. There is not “enter anyway” or “visit Webite” button, the site is basically completely locked from me and I have to use my Microsoft Windows 10 to get there.

What website are you trying to access, and what is the exact error message that you see?

It is possible that your iPad Pro clock is set improperly, which can also cause issues with connections to websites. Do other HTTPS sites load fine on the iPad?

Yeah, does anyone know how to do it now?

visit website option is no longer available.

This crap has been going over and over and over and they never fix it, same with the audio crackling noise. These days nothing really works with Apple, it’s unbelievable the software they put out, zero QA literally.

My Safari (13.1.2, MacOS 10.13.6, MacBookPro8,1) just goes into an infinite loop. I keep on getting the warning, clicking on the “visit the website”, supplying the password, over and over, and I never actually see the web page. I have to switch to Google Chrome or Firefox to be able to see it. This behavior has been consistent over multiple Safari and OS versions.

Mine always asks for a password to make a change to Keychain in order to bypass the warning. Is there a way to fix that? I always switch to another browser which is quite inconvenient

How to Activate the iPhone Debug Console or Web Inspector

Use Safari's web developer tools to study problematic websites

safari error on iphone

  • Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College
  • Switching from Android

What to Know

  • Activate Web Inspector on iOS: Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced and move the Web Inspector toggle switch to the On position.
  • Use Web Inspector on macOS: Connect your iOS device to a Mac and choose the URL to inspect from the Develop menu.

If you run into a bug or another issue with a website on Safari mobile, use the Web Inspector tool to investigate. This article explains how to use the Safari console for iPhone to debug errors with the help of your Mac computer. Instructions apply to iPhones with iOS 14, iOS 12, or iOS 11, and well as Macs with macOS Big Sur (11.0), macOS Catalina (10.15), or macOS Mojave (10.14).

Activate Web Inspector on Your iPhone or Other iOS Device

The Web Inspector is disabled by default since most iPhone users have no use for it. However, if you're a developer or you're curious, you can activate it in a few short steps. Here's how:

Open the iPhone  Settings  menu.

On an iPhone with an early version of iOS, access the Debug Console through Settings > Safari > Developer > Debug Console . When Safari on the iPhone detects CSS, HTML, and JavaScript errors, details of each display in the debugger.

Scroll down and tap  Safari  to open the screen that contains everything related to the Safari web browser on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Advanced .

Move the Web Inspector toggle switch to the On position.

Connect Your iOS Device to Safari on a Mac

To use the Web Inspector, connect your iPhone or another iOS device to a Mac that has the Safari web browser and enable the Develop menu .

With Safari open, select Safari from the menu bar and choose  Preferences .

Select the  Advanced  tab.

Select the Show Develop menu in menu bar check box and close the settings window.

From the Safari menu bar, select Develop and choose the name of your attached iOS device, then select the URL that appears under Safari to open the debug console for that site.

After you connect your device, use your Mac to inspect the website you want to debug and have it open in the Safari mobile browser.

What Is Web Inspector?

Web developers use Web Inspector to modify, debug, and optimize websites on Macs and iOS devices. With Web Inspector open, developers can inspect the resources on a web page. The Web Inspector window contains editable HTML and notes regarding the styles and layers of the web page in a separate panel.

Before iOS 6, the iPhone Safari web browser had a built-in Debug Console that developers used to find web page defects. Recent versions of iOS use Web Inspector instead.

With Safari 9 and OS X Mavericks (10.9), Apple introduced Responsive Design Mode in Web Inspector. Developers use this built-in simulator to preview how web pages scale to different screen sizes, resolutions, and orientations.

To set up Web Inspector on your iPad, open your iPad's Settings and select Safari > Advanced , then turn Web Inspector On . Connect the iPad to a Mac computer, then open Safari on the Mac and select Safari > Preferences > Advanced , then turn on Show Develop menu in menu bar .

You cannot just connect your iPhone to a Windows PC and start using Web Inspector through Chrome like you can with a Mac. Installing package manager software can provide you a sort of workaround, but it's not recommended unless you're familiar with the package management app you intend to use.

How to fix Safari not downloading files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

You may, at times, encounter an issue where Safari refuses to download photos, videos, audio, PDFs, documents, and other files from a website. In this article, we’ll explore common reasons why Safari may not be downloading files on iPhone, iPad, or Mac and provide solutions to help you get back to downloading with ease.

List of Safari downloads on iPhone

The issues you may be facing

  • Clicking the download link opens a new blank tab, and no file download starts.
  • Safari is refusing to begin file downloads from one or all sites.
  • File download starts, but it fails immediately in a second or two.
  • The download happens up to a point and then fails midway or just before completing.
  • Safari downloads a file but opens it and then deletes the original files (this happens with ZIP and other compressed files).

The solutions below should help fix all the above issues and also ones similar to them.

Before you begin

It’s possible that you’re not following the right steps to download the file. On Mac, it’s super easy, but on iPhone and iPad, downloading files may not be as obvious. With that said, even if the file has been downloaded, you may not know where it’s saved and how to find it. So, look at these tutorials, if needed:

  • How to download videos from Safari on iPhone and iPad
  • How to download files and documents to iPhone or iPad
  • How to access downloaded files on iPhone and iPad

Retry the download

In many cases, initiating the download again does the trick. Try hitting the download link again, and it should work. If not, refresh the webpage and click the download button again.

Note: Some websites put downloads behind a login wall. So, make sure to honor that.

Pause and resume the download

The download may look like it has started, but it will pause or fail in a few seconds. If that happens, hit the tiny retry button a few times, and it should start the download. If not, hit the download link again on the website.

Check your internet

Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is connected to a stable Wi-Fi, Cellular Data, or Ethernet connection and the internet is working properly.

Some useful tips

  • Turn off VPN if you’re using one.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router.

Allow the website to download files

When you try to download a file from a website for the first time, it doesn’t start immediately. Instead, you will see an alert asking your permission to allow this site to download and save files locally or not. Make sure you allow that. If you choose to block the download, follow these steps to fix it:

On iPhone and iPad: Hit the download link again on the website and tap Allow or Download when asked. If you don’t see the Allow button, clear your browser data.

Allow and Download popup alert in Safari before downloading a file

On Mac: Open Safari and click Safari > Settings from the top menu bar. Now, go to Websites > Downloads > click the drop-down menu next to the website name and choose Allow . While you’re here, also make sure it says ‘ Ask ‘ or ‘ Allow ‘ next to ‘ When visiting other websites .’

Allow websites to download files in Safari on Mac

Force Quit and reopen Safari

On iPhone and iPad: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold or double-press the Home button to enter App Switcher. From here, drag the Safari app card all the way up to close it .

On Mac: Save your work in any other open Safari tabs. Next, click the Apple icon  and choose Force Quit . Here, select Safari and click Force Quit .

Now reopen Safari and try downloading the file again.

Use alternate download links

You may see more than one download link on a website. If one link fails to work, try the other one. Note: Sometimes, picking a different download quality (for a video, audio, or image) should do the trick.

Choose different download quality for image, video, and audio

Set Safari download location to anything other than iCloud Drive

If you have set Safari to download files to iCloud Drive,  switch it to any other local storage folder using the steps below:

On iPhone or iPad: Settings > Safari > Downloads > On My iPhone or Other .

On Mac: Open Safari and click Safari > Settings from the top menu bar. From the General section, select Downloads , Desktop , or any local folder next to ‘ File download location .’

File download location in Safari on Mac

Stop Safari from automatically opening files after download

By default, Safari on Mac is set to open files after downloading them. That means if you download a ZIP file, Safari will automatically unzip it after downloading. In rare cases, this may cause the download to fail, not complete successfully, or not even start in the first place if the file you’re trying to download is incompatible. Therefore, it’s best to turn it off from Safari Settings > General > uncheck ‘ Open “safe” files after downloading .’

Restart your device

If Safari is unable to download files due to minor glitches, save your work and do a restart .

Make sure your device has sufficient free space

New file downloads will only succeed if your iPhone, iPad, or Mac has enough free space. So go to Settings, and check how much free storage you have. If it’s full, use these tutorials to free up space:

  • 50+ tips to free space on your iPhone and iPad
  • 30+ ways to free storage space on your Mac

Clear Safari history and cache

One of the most reliable solutions to fix Safari issues is clearing its history and website data .

On iPhone and iPad, you can do this from Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data .

On Mac, click History from the top menu bar and select Clear History .

Try disabling a recently installed Safari extension

If you could download files earlier but can’t after installing an extension, then that extension is likely the culprit. Remove it, restart your device, and now you should have no problem downloading files.

On iPhone and iPad: Head over to this guide on installing and removing Safari extensions .

On Mac: Go to Safari Settings > Extensions > select the extension and click Uninstall .

Uninstall extension from Safari on Mac

Update Safari

Safari updates are tied to system updates on iPhone and iPad. So, go to Settings app > General > Software Update and get the latest version of the operating system.

On Mac, you can update Safari from System Settings .

Update your Mac

If you’re on an older version of macOS, consider updating to the latest version, which should improve your computer’s overall working and stability.

On macOS Ventura and later, go to System Settings > General > Software Update . And on macOS Monterey and earlier, go to System Preferences > Software Update .

Fixed: Safari Search Bar Missing After Updating to iOS 17.4

Kanika Modi

Is your Safari search bar missing after iOS 17.4 update? Many users are reportedly facing the same issue after recent iOS update. This isn’t isolated since it occurred after the first iOS 17 update and even with MacBook users. However, you can get the search bar back on your iPhone and fix this error.

Here is an extensive list of all the tried and tested solutions. Let’s check them out.

How to Fix Safari Search Bar Missing After Updating to iOS 17.4

The reason the Safari search bar is missing can simply be a bug after the update; hence, it is fixable. Follow the steps below to start browsing Safari again seamlessly.

1. Force Quit Safari Browser

To fix the Safari search bar missing issue on iOS 17.4 , you can force quit the Safari browser. By force quitting the app, you essentially restart it, which can clear any temporary data or processes that may be causing the search bar to disappear. This step is similar to restarting your computer to fix software issues.

Time needed:  2 minutes

Here is how you can do it.

Force Quit Safari on iPhone

Then, open the Safari browser and check if the search bar is back.

2. Change the Settings to Single Tab

Sometimes, Safari’s tab settings can affect the visibility of the search bar. You can restore the missing search bar by changing the settings to Single Tab and then back to Tab Bar.

Go to Safari

  • Now, open the Safari browser and see the search bar at the top of the screen.

If not, follow the above steps again, change the tabs to Tab Bar, and then check if the error is fixed.

3. Force Restart iPhone

If your iPhone faces any software issues causing the Safari error, you need to force restart the iPhone. Here is how you can do it.

  • Press and Release the Volume Up button.
  • Press and Release the Volume down button.

Force Restart iPhone

  • Release it when you see the Apple logo on the screen.

The iPhone will now restart. Once the process is completed, you can check the Safari browser.

4. Contact Apple Support

If none of the above methods are working and the Safari search bar still needs to be added, you should contact Apple customer support from their official website.

Since this error occurred after the recent update, you can wait for another update that might come with the necessary bug fixes. However, it is best to speak to an Apple expert about this, and they can help you further.

Make sure that you have entered the correct webpage address. Sometimes we forget the correct URL and enter the misspelled one. Many of us make the same mistake while trying to visit a website when we are in a hurry. This may lead to the “safari cannot connect to server” error.

2.3 Reload Your Page

When you try to load a webpage, the browser sends several requests to its server. However, sometimes the server fails to send a response immediately, and the browser fails to connect to the server, which leads to this error. Refreshing may help to solve the issue in such cases.

9 Fixes for ‘This Connection Is Not Private’ in Safari on iPhone and iPad

The Safari browser on iPhone and iPad regularly notifies you of elements that can compromise your online safety. This includes details of cookies , trackers , and other warnings to keep you safe. One such warning is the ‘your connection is not private’ in Safari, and sometimes, it persistently pops up even when everything is right.

safari error on iphone

Therefore, in this article, we present you with nine different methods to fix the issue. But before we get into these methods, let us understand more about the ‘your connection is not private’ warning in Safari and the reasons behind this.

What Is ‘Your Connection Is Not Private’ in Safari

An error message stating ‘Your connection is not private’ is displayed when your browser is unable to authenticate a secure connection between the website and your device. This implies that your browser is unable to check whether a website is secure. Any browser can experience this issue including Safari on iPhone and iPad.

To safeguard your privacy and the security of your data, your web browser examines the security certificate of the website. Your personal information may be exposed to cyber-attacks if a certificate is weak and outdated.

Overall, it means that your connection isn’t secure, and the error shouldn’t be disregarded. You might see an error message like this, in Safari.

safari error on iphone

Although it is mostly a warning to help you stay safe, there are also instances where this is just a bug, or an error and the site you are trying to visit is safe. However, the good part is that we have multiple tried-and-tested methods to get rid of this issue. Read our next section to know more.

How to Get Past ‘This Connection Is Not Private’ Warning in Safari on iPhone

Here are nine methods using which you can try and fix the issue. Let us get started with trying to delete the browsing data on Safari.

1. Clear Safari Data

Safari, like any other web browser, tends to accumulate a lot of temporary data over time. This is so that Safari can load a few elements directly from your local storage, instead of downloading it online every time. This can save some time, however, a lot of caches can slow down your browser and cause a few issues.

Hence, clearing browser data and cache can potentially remove the ‘your connection is not private’ warning on websites.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and tap on Safari.

Open Settings iPhone

Step 2: Tap on ‘Clear History and Website Data’.

Step 3: Select ‘Clear History and Data’.

Click on Clear Website History and Data

This is all you need to do to clear the browsing data on Safari. If this does not work, let us try to restart your iPhone or iPad, or router.

2. Restart iPhone/iPad and Wi-Fi Router

Restarting the devices that are in context – your iPhone or iPad, and your Wi-Fi router can be quite an effective fix to this problem, despite sounding rudimentary. Therefore, try switching your Wi-Fi router off and turning it back on.

However, if you are looking for steps to restart your iPhone or iPad, follow along:

Step 1:  First, shut down your device.

  • On iPhone X and above : Press and hold the volume down and the Power button.
  • On iPhone SE 2nd or 3rd gen, 7, and 8 series : Press and hold the power button.
  • On iPhone SE 1st gen, 5s, 5c, or 5 : Hold the power button at the top.
  • On iPad:  Hold the power button at the top.

Restart iPhone

Step 2:  Now, drag the power slider to turn off the device.

Step 3:  Next, turn on your device by long pressing the power button on your iPhone.

This is how you restart your iPhone or iPad. If this does not fix the issue, you can try accessing the website using Private Mode on Safari.

3. Use Private Mode

When you view a webpage in private mode, your data won’t be saved locally, and you will not be signed into any account. Thus, you can try to dismiss the error by accessing the website in private mode.

Step 1: Tap on the tabs icon and select the tab groups icon.

safari error on iphone

Step 2: Now, select Private.

Step 3 : Tap on the plus icon. This will open a private tab. You can then view the website.

safari error on iphone

This is how you can access a website in private mode. However, you can encounter this error message if you are working on an incorrect date and time. Therefore, let us try and correct it to fix the issue.

4. Check Date and Time

Here’s how you can check the date and time on your iPhone or iPad and correct it accordingly.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and select General.

Click on General

Step 2: Now, select ‘Date & Time’.

Step 3: Turn on the toggle for ‘Set Automatically’.

safari error on iphone

This ensures that the date and time on your iPhone are set automatically from the internet, according to your time zone. However, if this does not work too, perhaps it’s time to check the URL of the website and ensure you are on HTTPS.

5. View HTTPS Sites Only

Websites today predominantly use the latest protocol called HTTPS. However, a few sites also tend to use an outdated HTTP protocol. This is less secure and not as encrypted as the HTTPS protocol. Therefore, ensure you are always viewing a website running on HTTPS. To know more, read our article explaining the differences between HTTP and HTTPS .

6. Disable VPN

A VPN is a mode using which your internet traffic is routed through a private server. However, if there are any issues with the server, it might be one of the reasons why you see the message ‘your connection is not private’ in Safari on your iPhone and iPad.

Hence, let us ensure VPN is disabled.

Step 2: Select ‘VPN & Device Management’.

Select General

Step 3: Ensure you are not connected to any VPN service.

Ensure VPN is Not Connected

Now that we know how to disable VPN, there is another service that can trigger the ‘this connection is not private’ warning on iPhone, and that is using extensions on it. Here’s how you can disable the same.

7. Disable Third Party Extensions

Extensions can be handy tools to block content or provide extra security as your use Safari. However, they can also cause some issues, and therefore, you can try disabling them to see if they help bypass the ‘this connection is not private’ error in Safari.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and select Safari.

Step 2: Select Extensions.

Click on Extensions

Step 3: Tap on the extension.

Step 4: Turn off the toggle to disable the extension.

Note : We are disabling the extension in the image, for demonstration only. This extension does not cause any issues with Safari.

Click on the extension

This is how you can disable a Safari extension . However, if you still keep getting the ‘this connection is not private’ warning, you can jump to the next few sections of this article, as we show you options as a last resort.

8. Use a Different Web Browser

Although Safari is a solid web browser, it is far from being a bug-free and flawless option . For reasons unknown, there might just be a bug within Safari that’s popping up the connection error repeatedly.

Therefore, you can try and use a few other good offerings on the App Store, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Download Google Chrome for iPhone

Download Firefox for iPhone

Lastly, although unsafe, you can try to bypass the error message and access the site.

9. Get Past ‘Your Connection Is Not Private’ in Safari

If none of the above methods work, and you want to access the website at any cost, you can simply bypass the error warning. However, we recommend against this as this can cause some potential harm to your online safety.

If you could contact the web developer and confirm the reasons for this error message, it would be a better option.

Step 1: Select Show Details in the error message.

Step 2: Tap on ‘visit this website’.

safari error on iphone

Step 3: Lastly, tap on Visit Website to open it.

safari error on iphone

So, these are all the ways using which you can fix this issue. However, if you still have any questions, you can read the FAQ section below.

FAQs on ‘Your Connection is Not Private’ in Safari

You can get this warning when you use public networks as the security certificates of the network might not be up to the mark. In that case, we suggest you check these tips to use public Wi-Fi safely .

You can block third-party trackers, disable cookies, and mostly visit safe-to-access websites in Safari.

You can use this website to check if the site you want to access is safe or not.

Browse Safari Safely

These are all the methods that you can use to fix the ‘this connection is not private’ warning on your iPhone and iPad. However, be aware that this warning does not always pop up as a result of a bug, and it might mean that the website is compromised. Therefore, it is a good practice to stay away from such websites. Stay safe, folks!

Apple to let iPhone users delete Safari, easily transition to Android

A pple will soon be making significant changes to its mobile platforms in response to new regulations in the EU called the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Thanks to the DMA, Big Tech companies identified as "gatekeepers" must open up their core platforms to competition or third-party alternatives. Case in point: Apple can no longer monopolize app distribution on iOS in the EU with the App Store. This means, for example, that developers can distribute their apps through alternative application marketplaces on iOS, allowing them to dodge Apple's App Store content policies.

Apple unveils its first changes under the DMA

By now, you've likely heard about Apple allowing App Store competition in Europe. Apple has been criticized by Microsoft, Meta, Epic Games, and Spotify for rules and policies pertaining to these  "alternative marketplaces." (Apple has instituted new, controversial DMA-related policies regarding Apple's revenue share models, which has been the focus of its peers' criticisms.)

However, Apple is being compelled to make other lesser-known changes to iOS that you may not have yet been aware of.

On Thursday, the day the DMA officially went into effect in the EU, Apple published a compliance report detailing some of the upcoming changes it's making to its platforms due to these new regulations.

Here are some of the most notable changes iPhone users in the EU can look forward to, brought to you by the DMA:

Browser choice

After EU users update to iOS 17.4, they will be presented with numerous web browser options available in their market.

As it stands previously, the iPhone just automatically defaulted to Apple's own Safari web browser. To swap the default to another option like Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera, you'd have to navigate to Settings to change it. Now, due to the DMA mandate, Apple will now prompt EU users to make a choice.

Developers will also have a choice, too. Previously, developers were only allowed to use Apple's WebKit for browser apps and in-app browser experiences. Now, they can use alternative web browser engines as well.

Delete the iPhone's Safari app

Speaking of Safari, have you ever tried to delete the app from your iOS device? You can't.

Well, that will soon change – if you're an EU user.

Apple announced in its DMA compliance report that it plans to let users completely delete the Safari app from their iPhone. Users were previously prohibited to do so because Apple's web browser is so deeply integrated with iOS. Apple is preparing to make that change now though.

Interoperability: First up, Payments

Using Apple Pay is easy. Users can just scan their iPhone at a register and pay for their item with any number of payment options in their Apple Wallet.

Now, Apple will let developers of third-party payment apps access the NFC chip inside the iPhone, which makes it all possible. Soon, users will be able to use their iPhone to pay for products and services through a third-party payment app as well.

Apple says it will also consider other interoperability requests from developers on a case-by-case basis.

Easier transfers to Android and other mobile operating systems

Looking to leave your iPhone behind for an alternative, but feel stuck due to all the data you have tied up with Apple?

The DMA has pushed Apple to change this as well.

According to Apple, it's working on giving providers of mobile operating systems like Android "more user-friendly solutions" for users seeking to transfer data from the iPhone to a non-Apple device.

Most of these DMA-influenced Apple changes are on the way later this year or early next year, according to Apple. The latest scheduled feature – easier transferring process from an iPhone – is currently scheduled for fall 2025.

iPhone 15

How-To Geek

Apple will let you uninstall safari on iphone, but not in the us.

More region-specific changes are on the way for iPhones.

Apple has been slowly opening up its hardware and software in response to new legislation in the European Union. The iPhone 15's switch to USB Type-C was partially due to new EU laws about phone chargers, and more recently, the company created support for installing third-party app stores for phones in the EU. However, most of the changes are still blocked from working outside of the EU, and now more region-locked features are on the way.

In response to the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple is making a series of adjustments to iPhones sold in the European Union . Starting later this year, EU iPhone users can completely remove Safari, Apple's default browser, and choose another browser. To ease this transition, Apple is developing a tool to transfer browsing data between browsers. Third-party browsers have famously been quite limited on iOS, as they are still forced to use Safari's engine. EU regulations are making Apple change course on that too and start supporting third-party engines, so hopefully, the fact that you can actually fully replace Safari with the browser of choice will be huge for the few users that can actually take advantage of it.

Additionally, by fall 2025, Apple plans to introduce a solution that simplifies transferring data from iPhones to devices running different operating systems. This will make switching to Android phones a smoother process, and companies like Samsung and Google will certainly take advantage of this to improve its already-existing transfer tools. The focus on interoperability extends beyond browsers. Third-party payment apps will also be able to leverage the iPhone's NFC chip for contactless payments, offering users more options beyond Apple Pay. Developers can also submit requests for additional functionalities that enhance compatibility between iPhones and other devices. These requests will be evaluated to ensure they align with the DMA's goals and that effective solutions can be developed.

While these changes are all great, Apple is also making sure that they comply with EU users and EU users only. For US folks to see most of these changes, we might actually need similar legislation coming from the US government, which could happen soon .

Apple is now assembling the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 in Brazil

Avatar for Filipe Espósito

While China is still responsible for manufacturing most of Apple’s devices, the company does have some assembly facilities around the world. One of these facilities is Foxconn Brazil, located in São Paulo. There, Apple is now assembling the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 .

iPhone 15 now assembled in Brazil

As noted by the Brazilian blog MacMagazine , Apple seems to be shipping iPhone 15 units assembled in Brazil. The company has not confirmed the news and there’s no explicit evidence of this on Apple’s website. However, Apple’s online store in Brazil gives customers a clue as to which model they’re getting.

When checking the URL of the checkout webpage for the iPhone 15, customers will now notice the part number ending with “BR/A,” which is used to identify Apple products assembled in Brazil. Most products are identified with “BE/A” or “BZ/A” to indicate that they’ve been imported to be sold in the country.

Interestingly, Apple has once again chosen to only assemble the 6.1-inch iPhone model in Brazil. The iPhone 15 Plus and both Pro models sold in the country are still imported from China. This may be due to the entry-level model likely being the most popular in Brazil, given the high prices of the iPhone in the South American country.

Brazil imposes high taxes on imported products. For that reason, some companies invest in assembling their products in Brazil, as this grants a reduction in taxes to sell those products. The 128GB iPhone 15 was launched for R$7,299 (around $1,460) in Brazil, but can now be found for as low as R$5,399 (about $1,080) in certain retail stores.

Apple diversifying its assembly chain

While assembling iPhones in Brazil benefits Brazilian customers, it also benefits Apple – and not just because of the opportunity to sell more iPhones. Having assembly facilities in other regions allows Apple to depend less on China and can help the company avoid supply shortages in the local market.

In addition to Brazil, Apple has also been investing in its assembly facilities in India and Vietnam . Last year, Indian customers were able to buy iPhone 15 models assembled in India on the very first day of sales .
