Mario Kart Tour – How to Use Level-Boost Tickets

Image of Rebekah McPherson

There are many types of tickets you can use in Mario Kart Tour. For this guide, you’ll learn how to use the level-boost tickets!

In Mario Kart Tour , tickets are used to make leveling up easier without having to do multiple races in one day. There are different kinds of tickets, ranging from driver, kart, and glider. They both have two types of tickets for leveling up, one for points, and the other for skill, which is what we will be focusing on.

Level-boost tickets are used to increase the skill level of your racer, kart, and glider. Keep in mind that the level-boost tickets are different for each three, so level-boost tickets are used for each of them. From the screenshot above, the Super Glider has been upgraded to level two. Once it did, it will help you score better in races, and in the Super Glider’s case, add five percent to combo time and have an increased multiplier to bonus-points boost.

The level-boost tickets can be required by gaining stars from doing races. You can also buy them in the shop if they are available in the daily select. They could end up in real money special offers from the shop as well as a bonus. If you have the Gold Pass, then you can earn more level-boost tickets from tour gifts you unlock from obtaining stars.

Also worth pointing out is that there is an alternative to level-boost your driver, kart, or glider without using a ticket is getting a duplicate. While it can be grindy from spending rubies, this is currently the only other way to level up without wasting level-boost tickets.

Overall, level-boost tickets are obtainable even as a free-to-play player, so how you want to use it is up to personal preference. If you are waiting for a certain character to appear in Mario Kart Tour , then holding onto the tickets will help you in the long run!

How to use point boost tickets in Mario Kart Tour

mario kart tour level boost ticket

Mario Kart Tour, like many mobile games these days has something of a loot mechanic. That means one of the aims is to collect all of the Drivers, Karts, and Gliders available in the game. The problem is you need to level them up and you can't always play the game long enough to do it.

That's where point boost tickets come in. These tickets are won by racing, or purchased with gold, and they allow you to level up your Drivers, Karts, and Gliders so they can be used effectively in races. There is a proccess to this which we will explain here.

How to use boost tickets

  • Open Mario Kart Tour
  • Press the menu button at the bottom of the main screen.
  • Choose either Drivers , Karts , or Gliders. Which one you need is based on the ticket you have.

  • Select the Driver , Kart , or Glider you want to level up.
  • Select either the Points , or the Skill box to choose what stat to boost.
  • Tap the Raise button to use a ticket.

  • Enjoy your new level!

Why use boost tickets?

In a game like Mario Kart Tour, where specific drivers and equipment do better on certain courses, it is important that you keep all your loot at roughly the same level. If you don't then you could potentially lag behind the other players level as you play certain courses.

I was always a Toad racer in Mario Kart, but this game makes me play all the drivers, regardless of my favorites. This is both a blessing and a curse. You have to try and get used to all the drivers and the war they work which makes you better at the game overall.

Should you buy them?

The game store does offer the option to buy these tickets when you reach a high enough level, but it will cost you Gold to purchase. You can get Gold from playing the game or spending 5 Rubies — the currency you pay real money for — to play a mini-game called Gold Rush.

Gold Rush lets you collect several hundred coins in one race, and the more rubies you spend, the more you can multiply the number of coins you get.

You shouldn't though. You get plenty of tickets as you play the game and spending a lot of real money to do it all faster really is counterproductive.

Mario Kart Tour: How to Use Point Boost Tickets

Image of Cole Andrews

Mario Kart Tour has launched on iOS and Android devices and already has millions of downloads. It is shaping up to be a successful mobile version of the classic racing game from Nintendo.

The game introduces some new mobile friendly mechanics into the Mario Kart game, one of them being point boost tickets.

How to Use Point Boost Tickets

Point boost tickets essentially boost the amount of bonus points you get for doing objectives like drifting and gliding. This makes getting five stars on each stage a little easier, so you won’t have to go back and retry the course if you mess up.

Gliders, as an example, can be upgraded to raise their base points. If a glider has 250 points, upgrading it might increase it to have 260 points. Each glider and kart can reach a maxed out level.

Using point boost tickets will help you reach the maximum rank more efficiently without wasting as much time. Save up your tickets for the more difficult courses, and make sure you have fun in the new Mario Kart Tour.

Mario Kart Tour – How to Level Up Characters

Image of AOTF Staff

Everything in Mario Kart Tour has a level associated with it.  Whether that’s your character, kart, or glider, everything can be leveled up.  Leveling up your characters allows you to earn different bonuses and rewards in-race which will make you a better overall player.  There are some different ways to level your characters in Mario Kart Tour but your primary method of doing so will be done through level-boost tickets.

So where do you get these tickets and how do you apply them?  Let’s start with what are the level boost tickets and where do you get them.  The best way to get Level Boost tickets is through playing the game and earning Tour Rewards as Level Boost tickets are one of the rewards in this pool.  (Gold Pass subscribers will get more tour gifts than non subs so you’ll definitely get more level boosts as a paying player).  However, you can still get them when playing for free, it’ll just take more time.

Level boost tickets can also show up in the shop.  So check back as the inventory rotates with new items.  Not all boost tickets are the same though.  Make sure you’re purchasing level boost tickets for the characters and not for the glider or kart.  Each has it’s own specific type of level boost tickets.  The one you’re looking for to level up characters is the one with Mario’s head on it.

Once you’ve got a level ticket you can simply head into the character menu under “Drivers”, select which driver you want to level-up and then click on the Skill Box.  This will open up the level-up screen where you can apply any tickets that you’ve earned from Tour Rewards or purchases.

Bowser Tour (2022)

The Bowser Tour was the seventy-seventh tour of Mario Kart Tour , which began on August 24, 2022 and ended on September 6, 2022. Being themed around Bowser , the tour featured Meowser and Dr. Bowser in the first week's spotlight pipe, while the new courses introduced in this tour were Bowser's Castle 3 from Mario Kart: Super Circuit and a remix version of the GBA Bowser's Castle courses titled RMX Bowser's Castle 1 (the first non-SNES RMX course), making this tour the first to introduce both a classic course and a remix course, the first tour since the Hammer Bro Tour sixty-three tours prior to debut two non-city courses, and the first tour since the Kamek Tour twenty-six tours prior to debut a remix course. Two more courses in this tour are themed around Bowser: GBA Bowser's Castle 1 and 3DS Neo Bowser City , both of which had one of their variants in the ranked cups, being the normal and T variants, respectively. The tour also introduced Bowser- and Dry Bowser -themed Mii Racing Suits , with the former marking all Mario -themed Mii Suits from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being present in the game as of this tour. Both suits have the Bowser's Shell special skill , making this the first time a driver with said skill was introduced in a tour since Bowser Jr. in the Tokyo Tour , the game's second tour. The menu's background featured the mountains from the GBA Bowser's Castle courses and RMX Bowser's Castle 1 as the landmark for this tour.

Starting from this tour, the Sneeker kart is available in regular tour pipes, including the All-Clear Pipe.

Of the tours that show short preview shots of the featured course at the start of their trailers, this is the first and only tour where only one shot is shown instead of two.
