How effective are san diego state university (sdsu) virtual tours.

It depends how you use them. San Diego State University (SDSU) is a hustling, bustling campus and community. The beauty of San Diego State University (SDSU) virtual tours on CampusReel is that authentic video tours, made by real students, can be spectacular at capturing the San Diego State University (SDSU) vibe. We also go well beyond the confines of the San Diego State University (SDSU) campus by taking you around San Diego. In traditional virtual tours, you will mostly see still, unengaging images and will not see the surrounding area at all – which is why CampusReel virtual tours are so important.

Can a San Diego State University (SDSU) virtual tour replace a traditional in-person visit?

If you cannot visit San Diego State University (SDSU) in person, then we can honestly say that we believe a CampusReel virtual tour of San Diego State University (SDSU) is absolutely the most effective and holistic way to understand the San Diego State University (SDSU) people, campus and community. However, if you do plan on visiting San Diego State University (SDSU) and other colleges in person, we strongly recommend that you at least prescreen your college options on CampusReel before spending the time and money to visit. Most prospective families find that as soon as the step on campus, they instantly know whether or not they like the school – but they’ve already spent all that time and money getting there! Our goal is to eliminate all the time and money visiting San Diego State University (SDSU) in person until you can make a strong educated guess that it’s worth the investment.

What places can I virtually tour at San Diego State University (SDSU)?

For your convenience, below is a list of San Diego State University (SDSU) places you can virtually tour on CampusReel.

What are the downsides of a San Diego State University (SDSU) virtual tour?

The downside of virtually touring San Diego State University (SDSU) on CampusReel is that, admittedly, our technology does not yet mimic the exact feeling and experience of visiting San Diego State University (SDSU) in person. We are working on this though! A common request we also receive from users is to add more perspectives (e.g. student guides) to the platform. Rest assured we are working on adding more CampusReel guides to the San Diego State University (SDSU) virtual tour. However, our selection of guides still far outweighs the available perspectives of traditional virtual tour platforms.

What are the benefits of a San Diego State University (SDSU) virtual tour?

The most obvious benefit of a San Diego State University (SDSU) virtual tour on CampusReel is that is can be accessed from anywhere. This can save families a lot of time and money compared to visiting San Diego State University (SDSU) in person . Another often overlooked benefit of a CampusReel virtual tour is that it goes far beyond a traditional in person tour San Diego State University (SDSU) . Campus visits are limited both in time and scope – how are you expected to truly understand a college in a 1 hour tour? That’s why we stress the added benefit of CampusReel virtual tours – experience San Diego State University (SDSU) and San Diego during different seasons, days of the week, and even hours of the day. What’s game day like? What is finals week life? Again, traditional virtual touring platforms don’t include this benefit.

Virtual Tour

Welcome to the mount laguna observatory, san diego state university.

Your tour of Mount Laguna Observatory starts in front of the Awona Harrington Visitors’ Center. The Observatory is operated by San Diego State University as the primary research, teaching, and training facility of its Department of Astronomy. It is operated under Special Use Permit from the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

Mount Laguna Observatory is located forty-five miles east of downtown San Diego on the eastern edge of the Cleveland National Forest at an altitude of 6100 feet (1859 meters). Just to the east is the Anza-Borrego State Park, which is the largest state park in the nation. This remote location, which is free from excessive development because of the nature of National Forest and State Park lands, remains one of the darker major observatory sites in the contintental United States. San Diego County and various municipalities, such as the Cities of San Diego and Oceanside, have ordinances and codes directed towards the wise use of outdoor lighting with the goals of minimizing light pollution and maintaining quality of life for their residences by reducing upward pointing light and direct glare.

Mount Laguna is part of the Southern California Coastal Range (an extension of the Baja California Peninsular Range), and as such benefits from smooth laminar air flow directly off of the Pacific Ocean, which results in steady atmospheric conditions (or “seeing”). Additionally, an average of 6.4 hours of observations can be obtained each night during the year. When combined with its dark skies, Mount Laguna Observatory remains one of the truly excellent astronomical sites remaining in North America.

This virtual tour was originally photographed and formatted by former graduate student John McDonald (MS, 1995).

Virtual Tour of SDSU Learning Research Studios

January 18, 2017   by   James Frazee

On January 13, 2017 San Diego State University’s Director of Instructional Technology Services (ITS) and Senior Academic Technology Officer, Dr. James P. Frazee, provided a virtual tour of two of SDSU’s new Learning Research Studios for the EDUCAUSE Learning Space Constituent Group and approximately 70 people from around the world tuned-in live. Below is a link to the recording of the virtual tour/webinar:

Learning Research Studios: Background/Context

The ITS   Learning Research Studios   (LRS) provide innovative learning spaces for faculty to experiment with state-of-the-art instructional technologies and student-centered classroom design. Faculty who teach in the LRS spaces are encouraged to pursue research related to pedagogical innovations and are supported by ITS staff and a cohort of fellow LRS faculty. One of the LRS spaces highlighted on the virtual tour featured a large   Learning Glass   device situated within an active learning classroom. Learning Glass is new technology for delivering and recording lectures that allows instructors to write notes while maintaining face-to-face contact with students. Essentially, it’s a transparent whiteboard paired with a lecture capture system. This studio is also capable of   “one-button” recording   to a USB device, or automated recording through an integrated   Mediasite   capture system. Interested in building your own Learning Glass? During the virtual tour we describe the latest build and buy options available today.

The LRS spaces at SDSU foster effective pedagogy and support initiatives on campus that encourage active learning, pedagogical innovation, and the use of technology to improve student success and time to degree.

San Diego State to launch study on renovations for Viejas Arena

"we need to continue to evolve and improve the fan experience and provide the best home atmosphere for our men's and women's basketball teams," director of athletics john david wicker said in a statement, by city news service • published april 4, 2024 • updated on april 4, 2024 at 11:30 pm.

San Diego State University will conduct a study on possible renovations for Viejas Arena , it was announced Thursday.

The study, led by SDSU Athletics and Associated Students, will focus on improving the main concourse, including food and beverage purveyors, hospitality experiences throughout the arena and other services outside the arena, according to the university.

"We are committed to improving the fan experience at Viejas Arena," director of athletics John David Wicker said in a statement. "We began considering renovations in 2019 and, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had to delay the exploration.

"We need to continue to evolve and improve the fan experience and provide the best home atmosphere for our men's and women's basketball teams," he said.

The study comes after the university opened its $310 million Snapdragon Stadium at SDSU Mission Valley in 2022.

"We are proud of what we have accomplished with Snapdragon Stadium, where we have significantly upgraded our fan experience, and we are excited with the program's direction under new head coach Sean Lewis," Wicker said. "We also continue to think of ways to improve our fan experience at Viejas Arena.

"With a perennial national power men's basketball program selling out virtually every home game, we are determined to provide the best possible fan experience," he said.

The study is also intended to keep Viejas Arena, which opened in 1997, as a venue for concerts and other non-athletic events.

"At Viejas Arena, we proudly host over half a million guests each year for basketball games, concerts and community events," Viejas Arena director for Associated Students Tim Ripke said. "A renovation study for Viejas Arena isn't just about upgrading infrastructure; it's about identifying options for enhancing the social connectedness of our students and our broader campus and regional communities where we can come together, celebrate and create lasting memories at SDSU."

At the adjacent Aztec Recreation Center, also operated by Associated Students, a renovation and expansion project was completed in 2021.
