Porter Robinson announces Asia tour with stops in Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan

Tickets to the tour go on sale this week

Porter Robinson has announced his 2023 ‘The Nuture Live’ Asia tour dates, with stops planned in Singapore, Japan and more.

Robinson is set to kick off his Asia tour at the Theatre at Mediacorp in Singapore on March 9. Following the Singapore concert, Robinson will make his way to the Legacy Taipei in Taipei, Taiwan on March 11 before performing at the Watcha Hall in Seoul, South Korea on March 13. The Japan leg of the Asia tour will see him holding three concerts starting with Club Quattro in Nagoya on March 16.

He then heads to Osaka’s Gorilla Hall on March 17 before capping the Asia tour in Tokyo’s Toyosu Pit on March 18.

Tickets for Robinson’s Singapore concert will be available to the general public starting January 19 at 10am local time via Ticketmaster , with an artist fanclub pre-sale set to begin on January 17 at 10am local time. Tickets will range from SGD108 to SGD148.

General ticket sales for the Taiwan concert are set to go on sale this January 18 at 10am local time via Live Nation . Tickets will be priced at TWD2,200.

Tickets for the Seoul concert will go on sale this January 24 via YES24 , and will be priced at KRW99,000.

Fans may join Robinson’s Laylo mailing list for ticketing updates for the Japan tour dates.

Robinson most recently released ‘Everything Goes On’, a track made specifically for the Star Guardian event in Riot Games ‘ popular MOBA battler League Of Legends , in July last year. Speaking to NME about the collaboration, Robinson shared how his personal life had inspired parts of the song : “My fiancé has been having some health issues over the course of the last year and when someone you love is suffering, it brings to mind ideas of mortality, grief and loss. She’s going to be totally okay but it’s been really difficult.”

He continued, “‘Everything Goes On’ is “basically about what it’s like to be in love as a mortal creature. It’s about wanting to get better, wanting to go and experience life fully but also worrying that you might not be able to do the things that you want to do. I tried to find the jelly centre of the pain and grief that’s at the core of love.”

EDM Superstar Porter Robinson Is Going Pop! Listen to His First Single 'Cheerleader'

T he Coachella headliner and Grammy-nominated songwriter is trading in his usual electro house sound to go pop, with the release of 'Cheerleader,' the first single off his upcoming album

The Grammy-winning EDM artist and DJ Porter Robinson , known for headlining Coachella and the Second Sky festivals (and co-writing the song "Clarity" with Zedd, ) is reinventing his sound.

On March 20, Robinson released the video for his new song "Cheerleader," which is the first single off his upcoming album. It's decidedly much more of a pop anthem with emo undertones than his usual electro house music.

The video was directed by Hugh Mulhern, and creative-directed by Bradley & Pablo, the team who have worked on videos for Harry Styles ("Watermelon Sugar High) ," Dua Lipa, and Rosalia.

In a statement, Robinson said, "When I got back in the studio for 'Cheerleader', I asked: what would be something that people could love with zero context — just instantaneous, universal, explosive connection? 'Cheerleader' is my take on bottling that feeling."

Robinson, who hails from North Carolina, first burst onto the scene when he was just 18 years old with his debut album Worlds, which came out in 2014. It reached number one on Billboard's top Dance/Electronic albums. He also won "Artist of the Year" at the 2015 MTVU awards.

A year later, he released a new album under the alias Virtual Self, which led to a Grammy nomination for "Best Dance Recording" his single "Ghost Voices." Robinson's last album, "Nurture," was named "Album of the Year" by FADER, and the following "Nurture" tour was considered the most successful electronic tour of the year.

The EDM prodigy first began producing beats when he was just 12 years old, posting music online and creating a sound he dubbed "complextro," which layered classical melodies to his music.

'Cheerleader' is the first single off of Robinson's full-length pop album, which will be announced later in the year.

From April 2 through May 11, “I Think You Should Leave” icon Tim Robinson is hitting the road for an 11-show tour with special guest Zach Kanin that will take the duo with a penchant for discomfort to theatres, concert halls, auditoriums, and music centers all over North America.

To kick things off, the “Detroiters” star will drop into New York City’s Beacon Theatre on Tuesday, April 2.

As of now, tickets are available for all shows.

Some are quite affordable, too.

Mitchell Robinson’s return makes Knicks bigger and maybe more dangerous

TORONTO — Mitchell Robinson has thought about the big return for a while now. On Wednesday night, he could no longer hide his excitement.

The New York Knicks center is getting his truck back. Flashing a picture of the pickup — it is a shade of blue bordering on purple with massive silver rims — Robinson’s eyes lit up. This is his joy. It has been away, being showcased at events by the company that lent him the vehicle, for too long.

The vehicle, which more resembles a Monster Truck than an F-150, changes everything. His plans for the weekend, once he gets back from this road trip: pick up his baby and take some friends to the concert of country star Zach Bryan in Belmont Park, N.Y. Robinson said he is more of a Morgan Wallen guy, but a Bryan show will be a good night.

Of course, there was another, less anticipated return, too. Robinson played 12 minutes Wednesday in the Knicks’ 145-101 annihilation of the Toronto Raptors . It was the first time he played in an NBA game in nearly four months after recovering from ankle surgery.

“Isaiah (Hartenstein) has done great all year. Jericho (Sims) stepped in. Precious (Achiuwa) stepped in,” Knicks guard Miles “Deuce” McBride said. “But having Mitch back there as a defensive anchor, it’s huge for us. Especially as a defensive-minded guard, just knowing I have somebody back there that can protect the rim.

“Then the offensive rebounding, that speaks for itself, just the way he’s able to go after the ball.”

Robinson did not hesitate to flaunt his horsepower.

Mere seconds after checking into a game for the first time since Dec. 8, he scrambled to a teammate’s missed shot, corralled the loose ball and knocked it off his opponent to maintain possession for the Knicks.

He was not done pulling off an uncanny impersonation of the New York center who surfaced in All-Defensive conversations before injuring the ankle.

Early in the second quarter, while guarding a step outside the paint, Robinson noticed Raptors guard Kobi Simmons cutting into the lane. Robinson hurried to his left, leaped toward Simmons with his left arm extended and swatted away a finger roll. He deflected the basketball into his right hand and started a fast break, which led to one of the Knicks’ many wide-open 3-pointers.

Robinson didn’t just play basketball on Wednesday. Even better for New York, he looked like himself.

“I believe my defense is kind of there,” Robinson said. “I think I still got a little bit to work on for that, but the shot-blocking is still there, so that’s pretty good.”

For Robinson, life is good right now.

He finished the blowout with eight points, two rebounds and two blocks. He hit all three of his field-goal attempts coming off the bench behind his former backup, Hartenstein, who will remain the starter.

The Knicks are easing Robinson into the lineup.

He is on a minutes restriction for now, as is Hartenstein, which led to head coach Tom Thibodeau leaning on unconventional rotations during the first half, using three centers, a strategy the team could deploy moving forward. Hartenstein started; Robinson subbed in with about five minutes to go in the first quarter; Hartenstein re-entered for Robinson 85 seconds into the second; Precious Achiuwa closed the half.

Playing with the second unit isn’t necessarily new for Robinson, who would run with the reserves every once in a while back when he started — but that was with a version of the Knicks that no longer exists, one that included Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett in its bench lineups.

The one that Robinson slotted into Wednesday looked for him more.

Josh Hart tossed him a successful alley-oop. McBride lobbed him another, which led to a foul and a couple of free throws. Admittedly, the 50-loss Raptors represented a soft re-entry point, as they are missing starting center Jakob Poeltl and third-stringer Jontay Porter , the latter of whom is being investigated for potentially gambling on his games . When starter Kelly Olynyk was not in there, the Raptors had 210-pound two-way player Mouhamadou Gueye or 6-foot-5 veteran Garrett Temple trying to contain him. It likely will not be that easy Friday in San Antonio with rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama .

Nonetheless, the early signs were promising.

“Each day he’s gotten better,” Thibodeau said. “You never know what to expect. But it was a good baseline for us, and I liked the way he moved. He’ll get better and better each day.”

The second unit could use Robinson’s help. The Knicks have struggled to score when Jalen Brunson isn’t on the court. And while Robinson isn’t creating baskets for himself (though don’t tell him that, considering he drove to the hoop for a layup and then got fancy and tried to do it again but got called for a charge), he can gobble up offensive boards enough to help the attack.

But playing with and against backups also means encountering the quirks that accompany funky second units. On Wednesday, that meant facing shrunk-down Raptors lineups without a conventional center or even a power forward.

For a stretch, Robinson had to guard Temple, a relative sharpshooter, which meant keeping an eye on the perimeter. But it also opened avenues to the paint on the other end, one of the reasons the Knicks looked for him on those rolls to the hoop.

“Mitchell Robinson, when he checked in, looked like a giant out there,” Raptors head coach Darko Rajaković said.

This is how opposing coaches are supposed to discuss the Knicks. The jumbo version of this roster is the one that is supposed to carry it.

New York hasn’t just missed three first-stringers for most of the past two months; it’s been more extreme than that. A squad whose identity is based on defense, toughness and rebounding is without its starting small forward, power forward and center — the three biggest positions.

The Knicks (44-28) have adapted. They’ve downsized, using Hart as their starting four and McBride, a small guard, next to Brunson. They’ve maintained their rugged identity (and their record) in the process.

They have now won eight of 10 games. The win in Toronto, paired with a Cleveland Cavaliers loss, pushed them to sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference. And now, they are starting to get healthier.

OG Anunoby remains out with inflammation in the same elbow doctors performed surgery on in early February. Julius Randle is still rehabbing his dislocated shoulder. The team has not provided a timeline for either’s return. But at least Robinson, who at one point it seemed may be out for the season, is back, as is his truck.
