Moscow by Night
One of the most popular tours of my guests is a walk through Moscow at night. This tour helps tourists to see Moscow not as a bustling hive, but as a majestic Empress full of ceremonial glory. Moscow night tour lasts nearly for three hours, but at the end of the walk it seems to be gone only an hour. During the excursion around Moscow at night, guests can enjoy not only the beauty of illumination, but also to learn more about the history of the city and its architecture, see legendary cathedrals, buildings and squares of Moscow, famous over the world, and to make great shots of attractions.
Night Moscow is full of magic. It is fascinating and enigmatic. If you decided to visit Russia in winter season, you will feel the fairytale atmoshere of the capital decorated with festive New Year and Christmas decorations. Walking through Moscow's streets at night you would never believe that just a few hours before you wandered through the same ones, only in the light of day. It is amazing how the city can change in the glow of night illumination. The incredible beauty of the city at night fascinates.
Excellent illumination turns the capital to the city of a fairy tale, dream-city of the children's book.
A wonderful excursion begins with perhaps the most famous places in the whole Moscow - Red Square , located at the north-eastern wall of the Kremlin. History of Russia's main square has its roots in the end of 15th century.
Nowadays, parades and celebrations of important events in the life of the Russian Federation are held at this famous square. At night Red Square stuns with its magnificent illuminations. Solemn and austere in daylight, it looks elegant and festive in the glow of night lights.
Patriarchy Bridge
Our path lies to the Patriarchy Bridge than. There is a beautiful view of the night Red Square, The Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the monument to Peter the Great at this point.
Built in Russian-Byzantine style in honor of the victory of the Russian people over Napoleon's troops the magnificent Cathedral of Christ the Savior seems to be a magical castle from a fairy tale, full of mysterious charm. Its white silhouette stands out brightly against the night sky. It seems that the walls of the Cathedral lit from within by the divine light. It is really a stunning effect.
Sparrow Hills
Next place that deserves special attention are the Sparrow Hills . There is a unique view on Moscow at night with bird's-eye view from this place - at least 85 meters over of the Moscow-River. Looking at the capital full of illumination, lit by millions of lights, stretching out at the feet, you feel on top of the world. It seems that you are a magician, surveying your luxurious land. You will have the opportunity to see a spectacular view of the Luzhniki stadium - the largest one in Russia and one of the largest stadiums in the world. This stadium was built in 1955-1956 years. It was here the Olympic Games took place and a lot of sport competitions and concerts of well-known artists and bands were conducted.
At night the stadium is light up along the whole circular length at night. It seems that the stadium is a great shining pearl in the illumination of thousands of lights. From this point of Moscow you can see the erecting buildings of Financial Center Moscow-City by projects of English architect Norman Foster. Some buildings are ready; some are in the process of erection. Completion is planned for 2015. We all look forward to completion to enjoy the magnificent view of monumental modern buildings at night in the rays of illumination.
All of Stalin's skyscrapers , erected in the mid 50-ies by the orders of Stalin are visible from the top of Sparrow Hills, including Moscow State University , known for its night laser lights. Each skyscraper has a unique lighting. Panorama from Sparrow Hills is sure to impress guests: dazzling shining of metropolis with millions of lights makes the capital an unforgettable and beautiful. Magic night in Moscow fascinates.
Novodevichy Convent
My guests are particularly impressed by the panorama of Novodevichy Convent .
This magnificent example of the Orthodox women's monastery was founded in 1524 by Prince Vasily III. There are a lot of stories and legends of Moscow connected with the monastery. It played a prominent role in the cultural life of Russia. Today Novodevichy Convent is both working monastery and a branch of the State Historical Museum. Night walk along the pond will fully appreciate the beauty of the Novodevichy convent at night. Rising above the dark surface of the water, it seems to be full of shining, light and peace. The lights of the five-headed Smolensky Cathedral and the monumental bell tower of the monastery illuminate the dark sky solemnly, cutting through the darkness and giving hope.
Victory Park
Three hours driving and walking tour ends in Victory Park on Kutuzov Avenue with a stop near the Arch of Triumph.
Victory Park was opened in Moscow in 1995 and is coincided to 50 years of victory over the fascist invaders. The original nighttime illumination of Victory Monument will not leave any spectator indifferent.
Excellent coverage of the Arch of Triumph on Kutuzov Avenue, built in honor of the victory over Napoleon in 1812, will complement this impression.
The tour will introduce you to such streets and squares as Tverskaya and New Arbat streets, Pushkinskaya Square, Gagarin’s Square, Lubyanka Square, and October Square. Also you will see such famous buildings in the night illumination, as White House, Former KGB, Stalin’s Skyscrapers, Old building of French Embassy, Bolshoy Theater and many others.
Moscow at night is a truly fascinating spectacle. City Lights beckon and create a holiday atmosphere. If you have seen Moscow at night - you looked into her very heart, saw her real - a beautiful, bright, exotic queen.

Moscow city 360-degree virtual reality tour.
Take the virtual tour of the kremlin, moscow river, saint basil’s cathedral and red square.
The Moscow Kremlin usually referred to as the Kremlin, is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil’s Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west.
It is the best known of the Kremlins (Russian citadels) and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. Also within this complex is the Grand Kremlin Palace. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.
The name “Kremlin” means “fortress inside a city”, and is often also used metonymically to refer to the government of the Russian Federation in a similar sense to how “White House” is used to refer to the Executive Office of the President of the United States. It had previously been used to refer to the government of the Soviet Union (1922–1991) and its highest members (such as general secretaries, premiers, presidents, ministers, and commissars). The term “Kremlinology” refers to the study of Soviet and Russian politics.
All of Moscow’s main streets start at Red Square , so it’s easy to see why this is considered the heart of the city. A massive space of 330 meters by 70 meters, the square is flanked by the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum, two cathedrals, and the State Historical Museum. In 1945, a massive Victory Parade was held here to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany by the Soviet Armed Forces.
St. Basil’s Cathedral , one of the most recognizable buildings on the square, was built in 1555. The unique cathedral has architectural details inspired by Byzantine and Asian designs, as well as details that resemble those found in famous mosques. There are nine individual chapels inside the church, all decorated with colourful mural art.

Run, Moscow, run! The Russian capital’s top jogging routes
Over the last five years or so running has grown in popularity in the Russian capital. Amateurs and professionals alike are donning their trainers more frequently and burning calories all over Moscow. Introverts, party people, and endorphin junkies are making strides in parks, on the roads, along embankments - anywhere they can. Russia Beyond presents Moscow’s main running spots.
Luzhniki Stadium
Who : For those who like to run with like-minded people
Distance : 5 km
Starting place : By Vorobievy Gory metro
This is perhaps the most popular running route in Moscow. It loops around Luzhniki Stadium, along Novoluzhnetsy Lane, and Luzhnetskaya Waterfront. It has a running track made of rubberized asphalt (which is a good shock absorber for joints and soles), a view of the Moscow City skyscrapers and the MSU building, little traffic, and there are always many runners, since the itinerary is considered the best in Moscow (it will get tight on the tracks). You won’t get any rest from the city’s hustle and bustle, but you can make new friends here, stretch out on the equipped platforms, and safely leave your belongings at the Adidas Runbase.
Frunzenskaya and Prechistenskaya Waterfront
Start your journey by Luzhniki Stadium and jog along the riverfront.
Who: For those who enjoy an evening or night run
Distance : 10 km
This track is lit up with buildings and objects with spectacular night illuminations. That’s why the best time to run here is after sunset. Start your journey by Luzhniki Stadium and jog along the riverfront. You will see the Russian Academy of Sciences building, which is nicknamed the “Golden Brain ” d ue the metallic decoration on the roof, the National Center for Managing Russia’s Defense, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Moscow’s bridges, and the former chocolate factory, Red October.
Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo Park
Who : For those curious about Moscow’s mansions
Starting place : From Voykovskaya metro station - it takes 15 minutes to get to the park from here
Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo is a former Moscow aristocratic mansion from the 17th century. Its owner was in the service of the first four Romanov tsars and was Peter the Great’s tutor. The main feature of this run in the manor house. Around it stretches a vast territory with a pond and old park with lime trees, birches, and oaks. The park has asphalt and dirt paths, clean air, and many approachable squirrels. During the week it is empty here so you can find some peace and quiet. But during the weekends many people gather by the pond.
Kitai-gorod – Chistye prudy
The best itinerary for a sightseeing tour of Moscow.
Who: For those who want to see central Moscow
Starting place : From Taganskaya metro station you can run towards the riverfront
This is the best itinerary for a sightseeing tour of Moscow. The route takes you past one of the city’s iconic classical buildings, Pashkov House, then past Lenin Library, the Historical Museum, Kremlin, Bolshoi Theater, and other important buildings of the capital. However, there is one issue you need to watch out for: Your GPS will stop working because of the jamming devices around the Kremlin. Be prepared.
Sadovoye Ring
Run here early in the morning, while the air is still clean.
Who : For those looking to take it easy
Distance : 16 km
Starting place : Run clockwise or counterclockwise from Park Kultury metro station
From the 16th to 18th centuries, there were military barricades protecting Moscow from raids along this circular route. Today Moscow stretches far beyond these borders and the Sadovoye Ring delineates the city center.
Let’s be honest, however: This is not the best route for running. Although this is precisely why it attracts hundreds of people. There are no conditions for runners here: There are many cars, long rows of streetlights, and pedestrians who look at you with confusion. But Sadovoye is full of wide sidewalks, light, and great views of the famous Stalin high-rises, theaters, philharmonics, architectural monuments, and the Moscow River from the Crimea Bridge. Run here early in the morning, while the air is still clean.
It has broad lanes with restored pavilions and fountains, so running here is pure pleasure.
Who : Admirers of Soviet architecture
Distance : 3 km
Starting place : From VDNKh metro walk 300 meters to the main entrance
VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy), one of the most prominent examples of Soviet architecture, has always been popular with runners. It has broad lanes with restored pavilions and fountains, so running here is pure pleasure. Start by the arc of the main entrance and run deep inside along the central lane. The route will continue over 3 km because VDNKh’s territory smoothly merges into the territory of the Botanical Gardens, which is basically endless.
Timiryazevsky Park
Timiryazevsky Park always has clean air and many routes skirting rugged terrain.
Who : For those craving rugged terrain
Distance : 3km
Starting place : From Timiryazevsky metro station turn onto Academic Lisitsin Street and walk until Timiryazevskaya Street. When you see the forest, you know you’ve arrived.
This is definitely not a place for those you like smooth surfaces. It is one of Moscow’s largest forest parks and it is easy to get lost here. But with a GPS you will not have this problem. Timiryazevsky Park always has clean air and many routes skirting rugged terrain. There are also many dog-walkers here.

First look: Touring Mead's brand new Union Stadium

Next up in 5
Example video title will go here for this video
MEAD, Wash. — 1971 was the last time high school football was played in Mead, Washington. Since then Mead High School and Mt. Spokane High School have both played "home" games in Spokane's Joe Albi Stadium-- A stadium that literally belongs to another school district.
"I can't even begin to fathom how they're going to feel or what they'll say," said Mead school district's Director of Facilities Ned Wendle of what the community's reaction will be whenever a football game can be played at the new Union Stadium. "I know for myself, standing on the 50 yard line, you can't help but feel like a gladiator. It is probably one of the coolest experiences to just stand out here and look around at what you're a part of and what you're in."
The $24 million facility was a part of a 2018 bond that received overwhelming support by the community. 67% of Mead residents voted for the $114.5 million bond that also included a new middle school, a new elementary school, a new performing arts center, new baseball and softball fields, and a new transportation center.
As you can imagine, with that amount of money directed towards the stadium, it is state of the art.
Union Stadium tour
The home stands have 3,000 seats with 400 folding chairs with cupholders, while the visiting stands have 1,500 seats.
The field is big enough to host a professional soccer game, while the turf is also the best of the best.
"It's as good or better than any other high school teams have," said Wendle.
The lights at the field will also catch people's eye. They certainly don't look like the traditional stadium lights and spoiler alert-- They're a lot better than the traditional kind.
"They're higher lumen than any other high school field in the state of Washington. They're set up bright enough that you could play a college game here, and you'd be able to put it on TV," said Wendle.
On more of the technological side, the audio system so booming that employees on the other side of the street can hear it clearly and the stadium will also have a built in broadcasting system.
"We have a Pixellot system being installed in the announcing booth. What the Pixellot system will allow us to do is broadcast games or performances to grandma and grandpa down in Phoenix. They're going to be able to watch this and just dial right in to the app," said Director of Maintenance Travis Bown. "It won't be locked out regionally either. The system is very clever. It follows motion throughout the field and is actually able to scan the entire thing back and forth without having someone actually man a camera."
At the entrance of the stadium there will also be a bell tower which well be the new home for the bell that is Mt. Spokane and Mead's rivalry trophy.
The building represents so much more than just a building to this area though. Both Bown and Wendle know that well, since both of them went through Mead's schooling system as students.
"I think this will be an opportunity for the Mead community to have a spot to come together. To feel like this is both sides'. It's not really one team specifically. I really look forward to see the community come back together and celebrate the Mead School District," said Wendle.
In fact, one of the many reasons why the district decided to name the stadium Union Stadium was the idea of bringing the east and west sides of Mead together in the space.
"We talked about bringing the east and west side of our district together in a union. Then also this actual piece of real estate was originally Union High School back in 1926. Then George Mead was the union general they named the town after. So we have a couple of 'Union's' in the history aspect of this real estate. That's really how we ended up at the end of the day with Union Stadium was for the history and hopefully the future," said Wendle.
This project is also helping to lift up the neighborhood as there seems to be more kids and families playing outside there than ever before.
"One of the most touching moments we had recently was a neighborhood gentleman came up to us, and he told us that seeing people back in this neighborhood is breathing life back into it," said Bown.
For right now though the building sits awaiting it's debut. When that does happen, it'll be a dream come true for Bown.
"I'm a wreck right now during this interview just talking about the kids coming back. It's going to be incredible. The feeling of doing something good and being a part of that for generations to come? It can't be beat. This is a great job," said Bown.

Walking on Red Square in Moscow: one of the unmissable things to do in Moscow
Iconic place and one of the must-see places in Moscow and even in Russia! Besides, if there was only one place to visit in Moscow in 2 days, this place would then be Red Square, without hesitation. Therefore, starting the city tour with Red Square is ideal . Several buildings are on the square, but not all of them have to be visited. Check out my blog post about Moscow’s Red Square in detail to learn more and not miss anything.
Visiting Saint-Basil’s Cathedral inside
Even more emblematic than Moscow’s Red Square! Built in the middle of the 16th century under the orders of Tsar Ivan Le Terrible, this cathedral is one of the most beautiful monuments of Orthodox art, and definitely one of the unmissable places in Moscow. Visiting Saint-Basil’s Cathedral inside is one of the most beautiful things to do in Moscow!

Take a walk in Zariadye park: one of the coolest things to do in Moscow after visiting Red Square
Zaryadie Park is just a 10-minute walk from St. Basil’s Cathedral, so it’s easy to include in your itinerary if you’re going to visit Moscow in 2 days. From its heights, you can see the red walls of the Kremlin. But, the most impressive point of view is the platform which overlooks the Moskva river. A must see! And clearly one of the coolest things to do in Moscow!
- Open 24 hours a day
- Good to know! Park Zaryadye is also a place to visit in Moscow in winter. Find out more here: What to do in Moscow in winter?
See the Bolshoi Theatre and discover the Kuznetsky Most district
The Bolshoi Theatre is the most famous Russian theater in the world. The most economical way to see a presentation at the Bolshoi Theater is to take the tickets on the theater’s official website in advance, so here is our tutorial to help you: How to buy entrance tickets to the Bolshoi? In addition, several pedestrian or one-way streets
The Bolshoi Theater is the most famous Russian theater in the world. The most economical way to see a presentation at the Bolshoi Theater is to take the tickets on the theater’s official website in advance, so here is our tutorial to help you: How to buy tickets to the Bolshoi? In addition, several pedestrian or one-way streets are located north of the theater. It is therefore very pleasant to find them to leave the main axes of the megalopolis.
Visit the Moscow Kremlin
Visit Kremlin is on top of things to do in Moscow. A place of power for centuries, the Kremlin then shows us a whole different image when viewed from the inside. If you want to visit Moscow in 2 days, the Kremlin is certainly one of the must-see places in Moscow.
- Opening hours : Daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thursday.
- See our blog post about visiting the Moscow Kremlin
Visit the Cathedral of Christ the Savior
This impressive Moscow Cathedral is the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is a must see if you visit Moscow in 2 days and clearly one of the things to do in Moscow. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was first built in 1883 in memory of Russia’s victory over Napoleon’s Grand Army. Then in 1931 Stalin ordered its destruction. It was then rebuilt again (identically) only in 2000.
- Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 15. At the foot of the Kropotkinskaya metro station.
- Opening hours . Daily: 10: 00-17: 00, except Monday: 13: 00-17: 00
- Free entry (some closing restrictions, for example a short)
Good to know! In orthodox religious places, one must avoid excessively uncovered clothing. Women should cover their heads. After visiting the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, you can explore Bolotny Island and Gorky Park. This is one of the routes our guide to Moscow.
The old Krasny Oktyabr factory: one of the coolest things to do in Moscow
If you cross the Moskva River by a pedestrian bridge which is located just in front of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city and at the same time you can discover Balchug Island. Furthermore, if you want to visit Moscow in 2 days, you can include this island in your itinerary between the cathedral and Gorky park. Here is the old confectionery factory Krasny Oktyabr, which has gradually turned into a fashionable micro-district. There are then some elements of street art, cafes and restaurants and some Moscow bohemian side. At the end of the island you can see a gigantic 98-meter-high monument dedicated to the Russian reforming tsar Pierre The Great.
Good to know! You can find on this island are the trendiest nightclubs in Moscow. On weekends, there are taxi caps after midnight so there are so many people. On the other hand, if you go there in winter and during the day, the island is quite empty and less interesting to see.
Gorky Park is one of the TOP places to visit in Moscow, because it allows you to better understand the life of the locals and their rhythm. In fact, it’s a huge entertainment park. For example, in winter there is a giant ice rink and in summer – free dance or yoga lessons, sandy beaches for playing volleyball, an outdoor cinema. So, like the locals, have a Stakantchik (ice cream or cooked corn), and enjoy the atmosphere of the place: that’s one of the interesting things to do in Moscow to discover the city.
- Where? Krymsky Val 9. 20 minutes’ walk from Krasny Oktyabr, along the quays.
Sparrow Hill and Moscow State University
The Sparrow Hill, Vorobiovy Gori in Russian, is the highest point in Moscow. It is rather known to Russians, but less to travelers. A nice view on Moscow opens from the hill, and in particular on the Luzhniki Stadium. In addition, on the hill itself is the Moscow State University: an impressive skyscraper from the Soviet era.
- How to get there? By bus T7 (35 min) from Oktyaborskaya station, near Gorki Park. By metro (Vorobiovy Gorki station) + climb the hill on foot. On foot along the Moskva along the Gorky Park (1h30) + climb in funiculars.
Good to know! It is possible to cross the Moskva river by funicular. We actually tested it and it was pretty cool! That is one of our favorite things to do in Moscow!
What to do in Moscow in 3 days?
If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days, it would be interesting to dive into the Soviet era which strongly marked the country and the city. After the Bolshevik Revolution, the capital was transferred from Saint Petersburg to Moscow, in order to mark the change of power. Moscow then became the world showcase for communist ideology. Here are the best things to do in Moscow for 3-day-trip!
VDNKh, visit Moscow of the Soviet era
VDNKh is a large exhibition center in the north of Moscow, where there are still several striking witnesses of the USSR. The most interesting are the Museum of Cosmonauts and the Statue of the Worker and the Kolkhozian , which will certainly impress you with its size!
GULAG History Museum
The explanations of the museum are very well done. We really have the feeling of going back in time. If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days and you are interested in history and this subject in particular, I recommend this museum. Visit the GULAG History Museum is one of the most interesting things to do in Moscow.
Discover the Patriarche Pounds district
It’s a nice neighborhood in Moscow where you can come across rather affluent locals, but not necessarily very bling-bling. Take a walk in this area is really a cool thing to do in Moscow! In addition, the Ponds of Patriarch is one of the places of Bulgakov’s novel “Master and Margarita”. As this is an interesting area to see, we have included it in a walking tour of Moscow. The route ends at the Moscow Kremlin, which is very convenient, because you will be able to visit Moscow in 3 days by optimizing your trips.
What to visit in Moscow in 4 days: TOP things to do in Moscow in 4 days
If you want to visit Moscow in 3 days, you will already see a lot of things. On the other hand, if you stay one more day, you have plenty to do! The Novodevichy Convent, the Tchistie Proudy district and the Izmaylovo Kremlin are very good candidates for you, if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days.
Visiting Novodevichy Convent in Moscow
The Novodevichy Convent is one of the most brilliant examples of Russian architecture, according to UNESCO. This beautiful complex was built in 1524 and today consists of the convent, but also of a cemetery whose status could be compared to that of Père-Lachaise in Paris. Visiting Novodevichy Convent is one of the great things to do in Moscow, if you want to go a little bit outside of the center!
Discovering Tchistye Proudy district
It’s one of the most popular areas of Moscow, with many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. It is therefore a place to discover if you want to visit Moscow in 4 days. It is just as pleasant for a stroll as for the discovery of local life. For example, in winter the pond turns into an ice rink.
Visiting the Izmaylovo Kremlin, one of the coolest things to do in Moscow!
The Izmaylovo Kremlin is more of a tourist than a historic place. On the other hand, it is a pretty impressive place to discover, especially on weekends. Inside the Kremlin, there is a flea market where you can find a little bit of everything, but mostly good souvenirs to bring from Moscow. For example, chapka, traditional Russian scarves or matryoshka (Russian dolls). Add the Kremlin and the Izmaïlovo market to your itinerary if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days, because it is a nice and very colorful place! Visiting the Izmailovo Kremlin is one of the things to do in Moscow, if you want to put colors in your Instagram account! 😉
In 4 days, we will have the opportunity to see several Moscow: Classic Moscow, Moscow of old Russia, Soviet Moscow and a little bit of the new Moscow. So what to visit in Moscow on the 5th day of travel?
What to visit in Moscow in 5 days?
Art lovers will be delighted to discover the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, while others will prefer to stroll along Arbat Street, see the buildings of Moskva-City or visit Bunker 42.
Admiring Russian art at Tretyakov Gallery
Founded in 1856 by an industrialist and great lover of art, the gallery has grown over the decades, and then bequeathed to the state. Today the collection includes more than 140,000 pieces, 15,000 of which are paintings. Visiting the Tretyakov Gallery is one of the things to do in Moscow if you want to discover Russian art!
- Where? Pereoulok Lavrouchinski 10. A 5-minute walk from Tretiakovskaya station
- Opening hours. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Closed on Mondays.
- Entry tickets. 500 RUB.
Visiting the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts
The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts presents the treasures of ancient Egypt, the paintings of Rembrandt and Cézanne, a fine collection of Impressionism.
- Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 12
- Opening hours. Daily: 10: 00-20: 00, except Thursday: 11: 00-21: 00. Closed on Mondays. The boxes close an hour before closing.
- Entry tickets. The prices vary according to the collections from 300 to 750 RUB.
Walking on Arbat Street
All Russians know Rue Arbat. So, walking on Arbat street is one of the things to do in Moscow. However, after the years, little by little it became very touristy. This is a pedestrian street only. There are souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes there, but it is no longer the most authentic neighborhood in the city.
Seeing the buildings of Moskva-City (Moscow City)
Moskva-City is Moscow’s business center, much like Paris’s Defense district. The skyscrapers of Moskva-City are among the tallest in Europe: 373 meters high! Very nice place to see at dusk.
Good to know! You can admire a nice view of Moscow City from the docks of Tarasa Shevchenko. It’s especially beautiful in the evening with all the lights on.
Bunker 42, one of the most unusual things to do in Moscow
Bunker 42 is a secret military complex which was to be used by the Soviets in the event of a nuclear attack: a space of 7000 m² 65 meters underground!
- Where? 5 Kotelnitcheski Lane, 11.
- Prices. 2200 RUB per person
- Opening hours. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Restaurant inside. Original, but rather a tourist trap.
What to visit in Moscow in 6 days or more?
There are still so many places to see, because Moscow is a big megalopolis and there is always something exciting to do there. For example: the ancient Kolomenskoye village or the WINZAVOD contemporary art center .
If you are interested in history and want to see Russian cities on a rather “human scale”, it would certainly be interesting for you to discover the cities of the Golden Ring . For example, it is very easy to get to Sergey Posad from Moscow (less than 2 hours in train). Visiting the Golden Ring is one of the best things to do in Moscow if you are staying more than a 5-6 days.
There are still plenty of places to see in Moscow, however I did my best to list here the best things to do in Moscow, what to see in Moscow in one day, but also in 2, 3, 4 or 5 days in Moscow!

Review: Chris Stapleton’s sold-out San Diego concert with Elle King and Turnpike Troubadours was a sound study in contrasts
His performance kicked off Stapleton’s 2024 All-American Road Show tour with a winning combination of musical fire and finesse. The opening acts did not fare as well in the stadium setting, but he made the sprawling ballpark feel intimate.

“It’s my show and I can do whatever the hell I want!” a smiling Chris Stapleton said midway through his Saturday night concert at Petco Park. The capacity audience in the sprawling stadium — the 20-year-old home of the San Diego Padres — cheered in response.
On paper, this might read like a standard moment from almost any live-music event, whether in a stadium or arena, theater or bar. But there was almost nothing standard about what Stapleton did following the sound-marred opening sets by Elle King and the rootsy Oklahoma country band Turnpike Troubadours.
The concert, which kicked off Stapleton’s 2024 All-American Road Show tour, was happily free of pomp and circumstance. But his two-hour set was a celebratory musical event that at times almost qualified as subversive, at least by the usual stadium concert standards.
Stapleton’s “I can do whatever the hell I want!” declaration came prior to his soul-baring ballad “Whiskey and You,” the 12th of the 26 songs he performed. It was also his third consecutive solo acoustic number, following “What Are You Listening To?” and “Mountains of My Mind,” the tender, whisper-soft closing number from his superb 2023 album, “Higher.”
With his band temporarily offstage — “Don’t worry, I’ll hire them back” he quipped — Stapleton accomplished a daunting feat. He transformed his stadium concert at the enormous ballpark into a campfire singalong for the sold-out crowd of more than 40,000.
It was, of course, minus the campfire — and, thankfully, also minus Saturday’s rains, which subsided over Petco Park barely half an hour before King’s 48-minute opening set kicked off at 6:31 p.m. But Stapleton’s ability to make a giant concrete edifice seem like an intimate hootenanny with just an acoustic guitar and his deeply expressive voice was a rare accomplishment.
So, too, was the no-nonsense manner in which he and his ace band — featuring longtime Willie Nelson harmonica great Mickey Raphael — delivered their impeccably paced performance. Stapleton’s blues-rocking country songs are expertly constructed to achieve maximum emotional impact without a single extraneous lyric or gesture.
Or, as Stapleton put it a 2018 San Diego Union-Tribune interview: “I don’t like to waste words in songs is the best way I can put it. If you can say something with three words that puts the point across — and leaves room for the listener to put themselves into the song — there’s no need to use 10 words.”
Chris Stapleton talks songwriting, leaving college and his best and worst day jobs
Before he won enough Grammy, Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association awards to almost fill the wing of a museum, Chris Stapleton went to Nashville as an 18-year-old eager to conquer the world.
Aug. 4, 2018
That same sense of purpose and concision applied to the fuss-free performance Stapleton delivered Saturday. His unwavering, music-first focus was clear from the surging opening salvo of “White Horse,” “Parachute” and “Second One To Know” to the two tender reveries that closed the show, the intensely melancholic “Where Rainbows Never Die” and the quietly defiant “Outlaw State of Mind.”
Stapleton’s vocals were tender one moment, gritty and blues-drenched the next, rising from a deep growl to a falsetto swoop without a hint of affectation.
His singing is expertly calibrated to achieve maximum impact, without a hint of the overwrought delivery that can make too many stadium concerts exercises in empty histrionics. While his vocal influences are easy to discern — from Otis Redding, Bob Seger and the Marshal Tucker Band’s Toy Caldwell to Marvin Gaye, John Fogerty and (if my ears don’t deceive me) Terry Reid — when Stapleton sings, he sounds wonderfully distinctive and completely natural.
“We’re going to play as much music as we can in the time we have. So, I’m not going to do much talking,” he said, shortly after taking the stage.
But Stapleton didn’t hesitate to stop his band four minutes into the rollicking “Might As Well Get Stoned” when he spotted an audience member near the front of the stage in apparent need of immediate medical attention.
“Somebody needs some help down there,” Stapleton said. “We want to make sure everybody’s taken care of. Make room for him, make a path everybody. Let him out. The sooner you do, the sooner we can get back to the show.”
Once the person was attended to, “Might As Well Stoned” resumed with note-perfect precision — at the exact point in which pedal-steel guitar master Paul Franklin was completing a brief but exemplary solo.
Throughout, Stapleton and his band consistently played to serve the songs at hand, not to show off. He, Raphael, Franklin and second guitarist Mike Eli LoPinto could easily hold an audience’s attention with extended instrumental forays, but their solos were unfailing crisp and to the point.
The stadium setting proved daunting to opening acts King and Turnpike Troubadours, whose music seemed ill-suited to such a large location. But Stapleton seemed right at home, even if he himself marveled at the size of Petco Park.
“Amazing!” he said after romping through the Guy Clark-penned 12-bar blues, “Worry Be Gone.”
“I do that (song) every night, but not in a baseball stadium in San Diego!”
Stapleton’s set list Saturday included such gems as “Nobody to Blame,” “Broken Halos,” “Think I’m in Love With You” and his 2015 breakthrough hit, “Traveler,” the title song from his album of the same name.
With that album, Stapleton unexpectedly created a tectonic shift in contemporary country music, before going on to win 10 Grammys and enough other awards to fill a room. He did so by offering wonderfully soulful new songs that sounded like weathered classics, not the slick, instantly forgettable assembly-line knockoffs the Nashville music machine too often spews out like an aural form of cotton candy.
Stapleton’s San Diego concert was a winning testament to the craft and durability of his work — and his work ethic — and he clearly savored and appreciated the moment for all it was worth.
Alas, the audio quality for the opening sets by King and Turnpike Troubadours was somehow both muddled and not nearly loud enough, in contrast with the much higher volume but perfectly balanced sound mix Stapleton and his band received.
Elle King, a multi-Grammy nominee and first-time mom, talks music, sobriety and confronting COVID-19
Music has been her salvation. But going on tour with her infant child in the midst of a pandemic, after both contracted COVID-19 in December, poses major challenges
Feb. 13, 2022
Coming on the heels of King’s drunken, profanity-fueled performance at a Dolly Parton tribute in Nashville in January — after which King canceled her January and February concerts — she conspicuously took sips from a plastic water bottle during her by-the-numbers Petco Park performance. She was not helped by the atrocious audio quality for her set, which suggested King was not able to conduct a pre-concert sound-check.
But the large illuminated letters “F” and “K” that bedecked the stage behind her suggested King may not be ready to make nice just yet.
Or did they? What clearly appeared to be an “F” from the vantage point of this reviewer — who was seated in the 12th row of Section 118 overlooking left field at Petco Park— was later identified by several other concertgoers (including one seated on the upper deck) as an “E,” the initial for Elle King’s first name.

The 50th Players Championship is upon us.
The Players begins on Thursday with the first tee times off Nos. 1 and 10 at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. Depending on which player waggles less, either Ryan Moore or Troy Merritt will hit the first shot of the PGA Tour's marquee event, followed by 142 others in the field that includes 85 of the top 100 on the World Golf Rankings and 28 of the top 30.
Check jacksonville.com and our Gannett partner golfweek.com for coverage all week.
In case you missed it, here's some of our advance coverage:

Golfweek runs down 50 Players moments in 50 years.
Let's talk about some of the best players in The Players
Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland won the 2019 Players, with the final round on St. Patrick's Day. The final round this year is St. Patrick's Day. Clayton Freeman tells us why McIlroy could have the luck of the Irish.
Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach became the youngest to win the Junior Players Championship last September, and the first resident of the First Coast. The AJGA's 2023 Player of the Year hung out on Wednesday with first-time Players participants and defending champion Scottie Scheffler.
One player isn't here. Gene Frenette talks to players who miss a big event without Tiger.
Xander Schauffele should have the game to win this tournament, especially when he tied for second in his first start in 2018. He said the problem is the change of seasons.
Justin Thomas, the 2021 Players champion, more or less tells a certain LIV Golf League player to kiss his asterisk.
Some Players caddies can also put a good swing on it at the Island Green. Who won the annual Caddie Competition?
Burning issues at The Players
Here are the main storylines entering Players week -- including an updated weather report.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan gave an update on various subjects. You can guess what dominated the conversation.

Some Players Championship history
An Atlanta bartender named Sundown was about to toss a piece of Players Championship history in the dumpster. A volunteer named Barbara Choate interceded. Here's the rest of the story.
Let's start with the good things that can happen at No. 17. The bad stuff can wait for later in the tournament.
The Players Championship Redcoats are a group of men and women who lead the volunteer force. These folks do good things for the tournament and the community, with no compensation. If you see a Redcoat, thank them.
Warming up for The Players: Fans welcome to Stadium Village this weekend to visit Fan Shop
F ans can warm up for The Players Championship this weekend by visiting the Stadium Village, where they can get the first look at what's on the shelves at the PGA Tour Fan Shop and take their swings at the 17th Hole Challenge.
The Players "Opening Weekend" will begin on Friday when the 37,000-square foot Fan Shop opens from noon to 5 p.m. They will get a first look at the items available which will include apparel commemorating The Players' 50th anniversary and new items from Barstool Sports, Malbon, Vineyard Vines and Peter Millar.
The Fan Shop and Stadium Village area are open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Fans can also go to the 17th Hole Challenge, a replica of the Island Green, and try their luck hitting the green from 45 yards out.
There will be local food trucks and a meet and greet with members of the Roar of the Jaguars.
Parking is free at the general lot off County Road 210.
Also open, to active-duty and veterans of the U.S. military (and their spouses), is the Players Championship Military Job Fair on Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Patriots Outpost located near the 16th tee of the Players Stadium Course. The job fair is in partnership with the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition.
Representatives from 25 companies will be on hand to conduct interviews. Applicants should dress in business casual and bring copies of their resumes. There will be free parking in Lot 6. After going through one of the two main gates to the TPC Sawgrass, follow signs to the lot.
Players Military tickets, Friday parking sold out
The Players Championship announced on Tuesday that tickets for the military and retirees are sold out. Stadium Pass tickets remain on sale.
Returned military tickets may be available through the Tour's verified resale ticketing partner, ticketmasters.com.
Tournament week begins on March 12 with Military Appreciation Day, with the Patriots Outpost presented by CSX opening that day. Military ticket holders and their guests can enjoy complimentary food and beverages, with an outdoor deck providing views of the 16th hole.
The Military Appreciation Day Ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the 17th hole, with the Cole Swindell concert beginning after that.
The Players also announced that parking passes for the second round on Friday, March 15, are sold out. Friday historically is the most well-attended day of The Players.
As with tickets, returned parking passes may be available at ticketmaster.com.
Mike Weir getting pumped about Presidents Cup
The 2024 Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal is slightly more than six months away on Sept. 26-29 but International team captain Mike Weir loves the looks of his team — even if it won't include LIV Golf stars such as Joaquin Niemann of Chile and Cameron Smith of Australia.
"Sure, I want the best players, internationally," said Weir, a native of Canada who spoke on a teleconference on Tuesday. "It's an unfortunate situation we're in that they are not eligible, but they knew that going in [to LIV Golf]."
Weir, who will go against a U.S. team captained by Jacksonville resident Jim Furyk, will still have a formidable team and it could include as many as a half-dozen Canadians.
Six countrymen of Weir's are inside the top-25 on the International team points list: Nick Taylor (4), Adam Hadwin (9), Corey Conners (12), Adam Svensson (16), Mackenzie Hughes (17) and Taylor Pendrith (22). All of those players, plus Ben Silverman, are among the top 100 on the current FedEx Cup points list, and all are between 30 and 36 years old.
"You've got to give credit to Golf Canada and the development program that they've put together," Weir said of his country's national golf organization. "A lot of those guys grew up together, were in the junior program together and the development program and they've continued to elevate their games and elevate their careers.
"It's an exciting time for golf in Canada," Weir said. "If two, three or four of them make the team, it will create that much more excitement. It's not Team Canada but the more we have on the team the better. It will create a different buzz, more energy ... Canadian [fans] can be a little reserved but if the players encourage them, they can ramp it up."
Caitlin Clark may tee it up in Florida
Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark will play in the WNBA next season.
Schedule permitting, she may also be seen in Florida on the LPGA Tour — as a pro-am participant.
Clark has signed as a brand ambassador with Gainbridge, a financial services company that is the presenting sponsor for an LPGA event hosted by another of its clients, World Golf Hall of Fame member Annika Sorenstam. According to Beth Ann Nichols of Golfweek.com, that could result in Clark playing in The Annika Driven by Gainbridge Nov. 14-17 at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, just south of Clearwater.
World No. 1 Lilia Vu is the defending champion.
Clark won't embarrass herself on the golf course. She played in the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic pro-am last summer, with Zach Johnson and Ludvig Aberg, and displayed a smooth swing that often landed in the short grass.
“I played [golf] when I was a little kid,” Clark said during a John Deere press conference. “Started golfing with my dad, but then I didn’t play much all throughout high school. Then kind of started again in college. I obviously am pretty busy, so I don’t get to golf as much as I would like.”
