Bonjour j'ai vu qu'il existe des appareils à charioter fileter adaptables sur ce type de tours voici les questions: 1) est vraiment pratique à utiliser ? je vois les limite du système en chariotage avec la longueur de chariotage limitée par la course de la coulisse longitudinale ( +- 10 cm ), ce qui semble acceptable en filetage pour un amateur. merci à celui qui utilise de me faire part de son expérience 2) quelqu'un a-t-il réalisé ce genre d'accessoire ( trop cher pour un non professionnel ) ? merci

Nickel, Belle modif. Bizarre que le moteur cale, peut être que la passe est trop importante ?

La fréquence est certainement trop basse donc un manque de couple énorme et ça cale!!!! Très belle modif, c'est plus du bricolage...  

pour le filetage , j' y avais été un peu fort : une chute de fer à béton ... dans l' alu , le laiton ou le bronze ça va pas trop mal : le moteur ne cale plus . par contre je vais devoir désosser les cardans de chez Merlincabaneàlapin il y a un jeu très important ; sans doute justifié pour leur usage initial. mais impossible de retomber dans le pas, à moinsse qu' il y ait une combine . en chariotage , l'avance est trop importante ( la démulti c'est pour faire du pas de 100 ) je modifierai . bonne soirée

Bonjour, vu qu'il y a une rainure sur les 2 cotes du banc prismatique, j'ai toujours pensé à l'éxploiter pour y fixer un chariot en plus. Les avantages : pas de bras télescopique avec ses eventuels jeux, plus longue course pour le filetage-chariotage, pas de copeaux dans la glissière, facile à proteger. L'incovenient : devoir faire de A à Z un chariot complet avec les queus d'arondes etc ..., peut-etre refaire un chariot croisé plus adapté (plus bas). Mais bon une chose c'est penser à une solution, une autre c'est la réaliser, donc bravo ! C'est un très bonne réalisation, de laquelle pourront s'inspirer beaucoup de personnes du forum, car on est tout plein à avoir des bancs prismatiques, et pas de vis-mère ! Une question que je me pose : y a t'il moyen de régler la position des deux engrenages intermediaires, pour ajuster le jeu, et/ou changer d'engrenages pour modifier le pas du filetage ? Encore bravo, Den  

Je critique pas dutout, loin de là ! C'est juste qu'on ne voit pas derrière les engrenages comment c'est fait c'est pour ca que j'ai demandé ! Quand je parle des rainures laterales, ce n'est pas pour les utiliser comme guides de glissement directement, mais pour y fixer un chariot complet à queues d'arondes, au moment de le fixer on peut facilement l'aligner au comparateur. Sur mon tour (Mikron T90), le plat autour de la rainure est assez précis, car gratté géométriquement, et jamais utilisé. Donc à mon avis en fixant un chariot dessus, celui-ci sera parfaitement paralelle. Puis, ca doit bien servir a qqchose cette rainure ! Je vais tenter le truc, dès que j'ai fini l'amélioration de ma motorisation, car dès que je demande trop de couple, mes courroies patinent ... (ca fait un bout de temps que ça traine) Sinon, c'est comme ça que se présente le dispositif de filetage sur le tour Mikron, très proche à mon avis de ce qu'on peut trouver pour les tours schaublin : https://www.usinages.com/threads/mikron-t90-dispositif-de-filetage-photos.20362/ on y voit bien comment est fait le dispositif pour ajuster les engrenages. Dans ce fil y a la réalisation d'un prototype en bois, qui semble fonctionnel. Donc, si ca peut etre utile dans votre réalisation, c'est bien illustré ! Voilà, voilà , je me répète, mais je critique pas dutout le montage, qui m'a l'air parfaitement fonctionnel, surtout que personellement, je n'ai encore rien commencé. Bonsoir Den merci pour le lien sur appareil Mikron en ce qui concerne les rainures , j' avais pensé à les utiliser pour brider dessus quatre paliers portant deux barres rondes et parallèles qui auraient servi à guider un chariot. c'est mon tour Lesto - première chose décente et utilisable que j'ai achetée - qui m'avait suggéré cette disposition . par contre il faut une super précision dans l'usinage des paliers pour eviter le vrillage et avoir un bon parallélisme des barres . le chariot d' origine pourrait être réutilisé bridé sur une semelle - montage Lesto . bien cordialement

Bonjour Den j'ai cherché et pas retrouvé ... et ce matin le vendeur d' un 102 avec dispositif manuel de translation de chariot a remis la machine en vente sur LBC . on ne voit pas très bien le détail de la chose , je lui ai envoyé un mail pour lui demander des images supplémentaires . à suivre

Bonjour copeaux 78 J'ai deux 102 dont un très complet avec un appareil que je pense être à charioter. Poulies alu sur la broche, liaison par courroie sur l'ensemble à charioter qui est situé dans l'encombrement de la poupée (assez complexe), levier d'embrayage/débrayage, sortie en rigide avec un axe rainuré coulissant (sans jeu!) liaison par cardan en bout du chariot longitudinal. Quatre étage de poulies qui donne donc quatre vitesses d'avance. Très curieusement je n'ai jamais vu ce dispositif sur aucun catalogue Schaublin et pourtant il est bien de la marque??? Visiblement il est à usage unique, chariotage, je ne pense pas que l'on puisse réaliser des filetages avec cet appareil parce qu'il n'y aurai que quatre pas possibles. Je ne peux pas insérer de photos pour l'instant, ayant déménagé depuis peu, 1 an et demi, tout le système est encore en carton. Les priorités n'étaient pas à la réinstallation de l'atelier... Je ne manquerai pas de poster quelques tofs aussitôt "l'outil" déterré. @+

Ces tables micrométriques sont presque exclusivement constituées en fonte grise (GG25) et toutes les faces sont rectifiées. Une version aluminium éloxé et visserie inox peut être obtenue sur demande. Elles sont équipées d’un vernier gradué au 1/100ème de mm avec possibilité de remise à zéro.

Capacité de charge

Ces tables peuvent supporter des charges importantes malgré leur petite dimension. Nous conseillons l’installation d’un système de graissage intégré sur des tables devant déplacer des charges importantes (voir page 21).

Leur simplicité et leur robustesse font que ces tables ne nécessitent qu’un entretien minimum. Un nettoyage occasionnel ainsi qu’un graissage régulier suffisent à conserver ces tables en parfait état.

Milieu d'utilisation

Grâce à leur robustesse, ces tables peuvent opérer dans des milieux les plus difficiles. Nous conseillons l’installation de protections (voir page 21) lorsque ces tables sont utilisées dans des milieux particulièrement sales (poussière, abrasif, copeaux, etc.)

1950's ? Schaublin 102TO, a couple of questions

Just picked up a Schaublin 102TO from most likely the 1950's (sn# 110104). It has the back-geared headstock set up for the W20 collets, the 150mm compound and the "sightglass" style tailstock. If I read the info I found correctly, the headstock should be designed to operate up to 3000RPM. I also got the grinding carriage, a twin post rapid feed production carriage, a 3 jaw chuck and a magnetic chuck (never saw one before). The motor is the original 380V, 1.5kw and it came with a transformer to step it up from 220V 3ph. I swear there is more weight tied up in the electrical than the lathe itself. As I most likely will never use the grinding unit, is there any advantage to the original motor, other than the grinding pulley and integral mount? I am considering retrofitting it with a conventional motor to tidy things up. I have a full size lathe for any heavy work, so this one will be for small jobs only, so should I consider going to a smaller <2hp motor? Considering your average 9" SB rarely needs over 1hp, it makes you think. Should I consider a VFD or a DC motor conversion with a speed control? Your thoughts will be appreciated and I'm open to suggestions. Thanks Mark

Sounds a lot like my setup with the exception that my motor is 220 2 speed 3 phase motor. I have 3 phase so never contemplated changing the motor bur you might find it difficult to work with the pulley transmision. Probably depends on what you'de be using the lathe for but I pretty much run evrything in collets about 1800 rpm for small stuff and with all the speed options don't find the need for variable speed. Todd, The motor for this is a also two speed unit, but the transformer is a chunk that weighs twice as much as the motor. You make a good point, I tend to have a few speeds I settle on for most work and the variable speed is probably a luxury. A belt swap is not a hardship for the occasional speed change. I have a 10HP RPC, so 3ph doesn't pose an issue, but I may just pop on a boring 110V 1HP Dayton that I freshened up with a new set of bearings and runs nice and quiet. I appreciate your input. Just wanted to ask this again since no one has provided an answer yet, does anyone know what the maximum speed that the spindle operates at? All of the literature that I have seen is vague (around 3000RPM?). I want to set up a 3ph motor with a VFD to tidy up the excessive amount of equipment, since the original wood bench was ruined and all of the electrical is in a big heavy pile. If I can get a maximum operating RPM for the spindle, I can sort the math out for a pulley and motor. Thanks Mark

Schaublin 70 and 102 accessories.

The Schaublin 70 and 102 lathes employ a very similar range of accessories that very ofter are only distinguishable from each other by size, due to this the illustrations are of a mixture of 70 and 102 accessories. Over the years the number of accessories available have been very much reduced. Schaublin’s current accessory range is probably less than a tenth of that available in the 1950s. The catalogues from which the illustrations below are taken can be downloaded from the individual Schaublin 70 and 102 pages.

Milling attachments consists of a vertical slide with an inclinable milling spindle. The milling attachment is designed to clamp to the lathe carriage tee slots and is driven by a 6mm round belt from overhead. These attachments are incredibly useful even when milling facilities are available since so many jobs can be turned and milled in one chucking. This is particularly useful when concentricity is paramount as in horological wheel and pinion milling. Two versions of milling attachments for the Schaublin 70 and 102 exist. The earlier attachments had flat backs while the later ones had “humped” backs and this is generally how they are known. The 70 and 102 items are very similar except in size and in the type of collet employed. Early flat back 70 milling attachments used B8 (horological) collets while the 102 version employed W12 collets and had a speed reduction gearbox fitted to the spindle.

 Later hump back attachments employ W12 and W20 collets for the 70 and 102 respectively. While humped back versions are obviously more rigid than the earlier attachments both are extremely sturdy and more than fit for their purpose.

 For the SV102, the flat back attachment has some advantages over the later “hump-back” item mainly due to its compactness and built in speed reduction gearbox. The earlier milling attachment is particularly useful for horological milling. On the other hand, the larger collet capacity and higher spindle speeds of the later attachment have distinct advantages for certain types of work. A speed reduction gearbox with a ratio of 4.5:1 was also available for the 102 hump-back attachment.

The grinding attachments illustrated elsewhere can also be fitted to the vertical slide as can a microscope and high speed milling and drilling spindle (made by GEPY ) enabling jig boring operations to be conducted. In the illustration to the left a Schaublin 70 has been set up with a quick-change headstock and quill with mandrel-type face plate with raised clamps ready for a typical watch-making operation. A microscope is shown in the vertical slide quill-holder for precise positioning of a cutter held in a GEPY quill which replaces the microscope. The headstock quill has a diameter of 35mm, and although Schaublin never said as much, it was designed to be compatible with the Hauser H1 “machine à pointer” and could be transferred from one machine to the other with the work still in place.

Other accessories that could be mounted on the vertical milling slide included a T-slotted milling table, indexing head and milling vice.

Schaublin have produced a number of different types of grinding spindle for the SV70 and 102 lathes, some employing plain bearings others with ball bearings. Early grinding spindles for the SV70 employ B6 collets while B8 collets are used in both the later SV70 and SV102 devices. Plain bearing devices have a top speed of around 10,000 rpm while spindles with ball races have a top speed of around 15,000 rpm.

An internal grinding device was also available for both the 70 and 102 with a rather low maximum spindle speed of 18000 rpm.

Dividing attachments.

Headstock dividing attachments for the Schaublin 70 and 102 lathes are very rarely found on the second hand market. While these attachments are very useful they are easily substituted by direct indexing with a suitable dividing plate and detent. Indeed for many horological applications the dividing attachment is not suitable since some common horological wheel counts are unobtainable with a 1:60 ratio.

Microscopes, screw-cutting attachments, spherical turning carriage.

Lever and turret wheel tailstocks took W type collets, while screw operated and lever and spring operated had a tapered socket (SV70: 2º; SV102: 2MT). In general use the standard screw operated tailstock is more than sensitive enough for the smallest of drilling operations, however there are occasions when a lever tailstock provides that extra degree of sensitivity or fast operation. Schaublin also listed a B8 colleted revolving spindle to fit the lever tailstock. Driven from the overhead drive it could be run at up to 5000 rpm.

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.
