Effectively its a G37 on stilts but never have I seen a good car so negatively affected by a increase in height and some weight. Think of the driving experience like your G37 but very much neutered in power and felt mushier to drive than a soft Camry. Even the A4 and Q5 difference isn't as staggering in the awfulness as the G37 and the EX37/QX50 difference. Love the G37, one of my favourites in my active time with fleet cars but I always hated the EX37/QX50.
multimut wrote: ↑ I think you have the downsides covered. Infiniti didn't pay much attention to this model with only minor refreshes. But IMO the 2014-2016 QX50 is one of the most attractive exteriors for CUV. They are all built in Japan, and the fact that Infiniti made only minor changes to this model from the EX days means all the bugs should be worked out. I think it offers a very good deal used.

But I don't think they are too fussed about the handling or speed - in-laws are currently driving an old i4 Camry, so anything will be an upgrade in handling! At this point I feel like reliability is the main thing for them. I'm worried if I recommend this and the transmission craps out in a few years, then they would regret not buying another Camry instead. lol

2014 Infiniti QX50 Overview

Is the 2014 infiniti qx50 a good suv.

Our list of luxury compact SUV s is full of good vehicles, and the Infiniti QX50 is no exception. It has a brutish V6 engine and nimble handling alongside impressive interior quality. However, it's short on second-row legroom and cargo space.

Used 2014 Infiniti QX50 Performance and Interior

The 2014 Infiniti QX50 gets the best performance scores in the class due in part to its potent 325-horsepower V6 engine. Acceleration is strong and smooth, and a slick-shifting automatic transmission helps get the QX50 moving with ease. This SUV also has great steering feel, handles corners with enthusiasm and has the agility of a smaller car. The QX50's brakes are strong, but ride quality is a little on the stiff side. Rear-wheel drive is standard, though some models may have all-wheel drive.

The QX50 gets EPA-rated fuel economy estimates of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is below average for the class. QX50 models with AWD lose 1 mpg in the city and on the highway.

The 2014 QX50 seats five on standard leather seats, with power-adjustable front seats. Some models may have heated front seats or a power-folding rear bench. While the first row is comfortable for occupants, the back seat is a little short on legroom. The QX50 also has less cargo space than many rivals. There are two complete sets of LATCH car-seat connectors in the second row and an extra upper tether anchor for the middle seat.

The QX50's cabin shines with an elegant design and high-quality materials, such as wood trim.  Standard features in the QX50 include dual-zone automatic climate control, a USB port, satellite radio, a rearview camera, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and a 7-inch infotainment system. Available features include a moonroof, navigation, Bluetooth, a Bose premium audio system, voice recognition, parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

How Much is a 2014 Infiniti QX50?

Average prices for a 2014 QX50 range from around $23,100 for a base model to about $25,600 for an all-wheel-drive Infiniti QX50 Journey. Prices can vary based on where you live, and they’ll depend on the car's mileage, features, and condition.

Our reviews aren't based on our own opinions of cars. Rather, we analyze the consensus opinions of the automotive press, along with crash test ratings, reliability scores, and cost of ownership estimates to help you make the best buying decision.

How Reliable Is the 2014 Infiniti QX50?

The 2014 Infiniti QX50 has a reliability rating of three out of five from J.D. Power and Associates, which is considered average across the whole industry. However, many class rivals earn above-average ratings.

2014 Infiniti QX50 Safety

Score: 9.8/10.

The 2014 QX50 only underwent a few crash tests, but it earned good safety scores. The SUV received the highest rating of Good in four Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests and four out of five stars in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rollover test.

A rearview camera comes standard in the QX50. Several other advanced driver assistance features are available, including adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

Should I Consider Another Used QX50?

Infiniti introduced the 2014 QX50 as an all-new model, though it's technically a renamed, upgraded version of the EX SUV. There were few notable changes over the first couple years of the QX50, so a 2014 model should provide the most bang for your buck. However, if you're willing to spend a little more, the 2016 QX50 could be worth it. It received more rear legroom and additional standard features, like a moonroof.

Which Used Infiniti QX50 Is Right for Me?

The 2014 QX50 is available in base and Journey trim levels, with rear- or all-wheel drive. AWD variants deliver slightly better handling, so it’s best to look for one of those. Additionally, nearly all of the QX50's optional features were only available in the Journey model, and only as part of an optional package. Therefore, you'll have to do some hunting to find a model equipped with heated seats, navigation, Bluetooth, driver assistance features, and any other perks you may want.

You may also want to consider a certified pre-owned QX50. The Infiniti certified pre-owned warranty has three levels of coverage based on the vehicle’s age and mileage. Infiniti vehicles with less than 15,000 miles receive a six-year/75,000-mile warranty from the original new-car purchase date. Vehicles less than four years old with more than 15,000 miles receive a six-year/unlimited-mileage warranty from the original new-car purchase date. Finally, vehicles more than four years old with more than 15,000 miles receive a two-year/unlimited-mileage warranty good from the CPO purchase date. Infiniti CPO vehicles must pass a 167-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Infiniti warranty page carefully.

2014 Infiniti QX50 and Other SUVs to Consider

Which is better: 2014 infiniti qx50 or mercedes-benz glk-class.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class tops our list of luxury compact SUV s almost solely because of its perfect reliability rating. It also gets marginally higher safety scores than the QX50, though crash testing on the Infiniti was sparse. In other areas, though, the QX50 is the better SUV. The Infiniti's strong V6 engine beats out the Benz's mediocre engine, though the GLK-Class is also available with the V6. The QX50 has better handling, too. Neither SUV is big on rear-seat or cargo space, though they both have luxurious interior quality. Your choice may come down to price. Buying a GLK-Class will likely cost you a few thousand dollars more than a QX50, and its ownership costs are higher as well.

Which Is Better: 2014 Infiniti QX50 or 2014 Audi Q5?

It's a close call between the QX50 and the 2014 Audi Q5 . Both SUVs have an elegant cabin with plush leather and top-notch build quality. However, the Q5 offers greater passenger accommodations with its sliding and reclining second row. You'll also get more cargo space with the Audi. Because of its combination of space, utility, and family-friendly features, we named the Q5 our 2014 Best Luxury Compact SUV for Families award winner. Lower Q5 trim levels compete in price with the QX50, but expect a higher-end Q5 to cost more upfront and in maintenance costs.

Which Is Better: 2014 Infiniti QX50 or 2014 Acura RDX?

The 2014 Acura RDX has slightly better reliability than the QX50. That combined with its similar purchase price and lower ownership costs makes it a better value than the Infiniti. In fact, we named the RDX our 2014 Best Luxury Compact SUV for the Money award winner. It has a spacious cabin with standard amenities like heated leather front seats and a moonroof, as well as more cargo space than the QX50. The RDX's performance is a little more muted than the QX50's, but it should still meet your expectations for a comfortable daily driver.

features & specs

The 2014 infiniti qx50 has the performance (and attitude) of a sport sedan, along with rich, warm cabin appointments and standout tech; but compared to almost any other crossover its interior isn't very useful behind the front seats..

The 2014 Infiniti QX50 may wear a new badge, but it's a familiar shape. For the past few years, it's been the compact crossover in the Infiniti lineup, sold under the EX nameplate. Now that Infiniti's switched to a "QX" badge for its crossovers and SUVs, the QX50 stakes out a claim in the putative middle of the lineup.

In style and performance, the QX50 is a very satisfying vehicle. It's exceptionally well-proportioned and confounds the expectations of some blandness in utility. The rakish roofline and pert proportions hardly look like those of a crossover. The coupe-like profile and organic sheetmetal altogether make the EX one of the best-looking tall wagons yet, and beautiful from some angles. 'Coupe-like' also applies inside, where a cockpit-style layout wraps around the driver. There's a wide center stack, big LCD screen, and perhaps a few too many buttons and secondary controls. But soft, warm interior appointments and rich tones give this interior an elegant, refined look, with soft-white lighting, fine leather, and real wood inlays.

With a version of the company's stout 3.7-liter V-6, making 325 horsepower and 267 pound-feet, the QX50 is never short on power. It's still matched to an excellent seven-speed automatic transmission, with quick shifts, steering-wheel paddles, and throttle-blip-style rev-matching on downshifts. The engine and transmission work well together, with an eagerness that's uncommon in this kind of vehicle. Handling and body control aren't quite as great as those of the Q50 sedan (formerly G37) on which the QX50 is based, but they're impressive for a crossover, and steering weighting and feedback are far better than what you'll find in other such vehicles.

Ride quality is good here--firm but compliant--and the independent suspension hits the ideal balance of smoothness and athleticism. Engine noise is surprisingly present, though, with coarse sounds and some vibration from the 3.7-liter engine as it sings into the higher revs--more so than the 3.5-liter predecessor that was used in the EX as recently as a couple of model years ago. It's thirsty, too; highway ratings go up 1 mpg, to 17/25 mpg with rear-wheel drive or 17/24 with AWD.

The personality of the QX50 changes a bit as you add all-wheel drive; you'll lose a little of the nimble feel but earn some all-weather tractability--although churning through snow or mud isn't really the point.

Interior space is where the packaging of the QX50 reveals this model's true intent. While it carries driver and passenger with verve, in snug, well-bolstered front seats, anyone who needs to sit in the back seat isn't going to be nearly as content. It's one of the tightest we've experienced in this kind of vehicle, with headroom and legroom lacking, and the sloping rear window and high cargo floor limit cargo space and usability.

The Infiniti EX earns 'good' ratings in frontal and roof strength tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but it has neither side nor small overlap frontal ratings, and the federal government hasn't yet tested this model.

But there's plenty else to impress, including an extensive suite of active-safety features that are still somewhat unusual in this class. Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Brake Assist, Blind Spot Warning are all included in a Technology Package, while 360-degree Around View Monitoring system is part of the Premium Package--and, we think, necessary because rearward visibility is so limited.

Four models of the 2014 Infiniti QX50 are offered: QX50, QX50 AWD, QX50 Journey, and QX50 Journey AWD. Leather seating, push-button start, a power-folding second row, a moonroof, a universal garage-door opener, power steering-column adjustment, and heated front seats are all part of the standard-equipment set. A Premium Package steps up to Bose premium audio, navigation with real-time traffic, and aluminum roof rails, while many of those safety-tech features are included with Intelligent Cruise Control as part of a Technology Package. The QX50 got a rather significant $2,500 price cut versus the EX, so it all adds up to a much better value than before.

2014 INFINITI QX50 Styling

The infiniti qx50 is modern and luxurious -- although not entirely fresh..

In size and shape, the QX50 is roughly in the template of a number of other compact luxury crossover vehicles, such as the Acura RDX, the Lexus RX 350, Cadillac SRX, and BMW X3. And while the QX50 is an exact carry-over of the EX--a model that was originally introduced for the 2008 model year--it manages to look a bit different (and definitely fresher) thanks to its standout profile, which is more like that of a sport wagon than of a crossover.

The 2014 QX50 is indeed a tall wagon, built on proven sport-sedan underpinnings, and it looks the part. Although some of its styling cues on the outside are on loan from the FX (now called the QX70), the QX50 doesn't end up having an awkward, abbreviated shape. Rather, the design stands up on its own, and nexr to the FX/QX70, it might actually be the better-looking of the two. The EX's tall roofline is lowered (as a visual trick) with subtle sculptural surfaces on the body, and few cutlines and few unneeded details give the EX an especially clean look for its class. Big wheel wells and widely flared fenders taper into an arching roofline, all blending together to give the EX more of a four-door coupe look-more Panamera than Explorer (or even Cayenne).

The cabin is just as sophisticated, look that's simpler and more streamlined than that of the Acura RDX. There's no effort to be rugged or trail-friendly--definitely less of an effort to maximize interior space and versatility as well. The contours are quite soft, and the cockpit-style layout wraps into a wide center stack a big LCD screen and secondary controls. The instruments look elegant and refined in soft-white lighting, and the wood and leather wear matte finishes. We find the overall look to be low-key and tasteful, as it skips the excessive detailing and brightwork that's become so common (and garish). And if you somehow think that's austere, wood finishes can lift the ambiance a bit more.

2014 INFINITI QX50 Performance

The qx50 doesn't handle quite as well as the larger fx37, but the large v-6 makes it quick..

The 2014 Infiniti QX50 is a compact crossover, packing a version of the company's stout 3.7-liter V-6, making 325 horsepower and 267 pound-feet; so as you might guess, it's never short on power.

The rather rev-happy V-6 is matched to an excellent seven-speed automatic transmission, with quick shifts, steering-wheel paddles, and throttle-blip-style rev-matching on downshifts. Overall, the engine and transmission work well together, with an eagerness that's uncommon in this kind of vehicle.

Handling and body control aren't quite as great as those of the Q50 sedan (formerly G37) on which the QX50 is based, but they're impressive for a crossover, and steering weighting and feedback are far better than what you'll find in other such vehicles. Four-wheel disc brakes stop the QX50 with sport-sedan decisiveness, and there's no excess dive or body motion despite being a bit higher off the ground. We've found that versions with the optional all-wheel drive system don't feel quite as inspired; they don't handle with quite the level of awesome precision as rear-wheel-drive models, and they're a bit slower and thirstier to boot.

Ride quality is good here--firm but compliant--and the independent suspension hits the ideal balance of smoothness and athleticism. Our ongoing complaint here--as with much of Infiniti's lineup from the past several years--is that there's way too much engine noise in the cabin for a luxury vehicle. You hear it reassuringly when you're accelerating, but you hear it when you'd rather not, too.

2014 INFINITI QX50 Comfort & Quality

The 2014 infiniti qx50 is smartly tailored for two adults; try to add more people and more cargo and you'll likely be disappointed..

The 2014 Infiniti QX50 might be best thought of as a sort of tall, two-door sporty hatchback. It's clear that front-seat occupants have been accommodated-for, in luxury, but those in back won't be nearly as content.

Interior space is where the packaging of the QX50 reveals this model's true intent. The driver and front passenger travel in snug, well-bolstered front seats, with just the right amount of side bolstering for curvy roads. A wide center console also provides useful stow space.

Anyone who needs to sit in the back seat isn't going to be nearly as content. It's one of the tightest we've experienced in this kind of vehicle, with headroom and legroom lacking, and the sloping rear window and high cargo floor limit cargo space and usability. Back-seat space is noticeably smaller than that of class rivals like the Cadillac SRX and Volvo XC60.

In its class, its wheelbase (110.2 inches) and key interior dimensions (18.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats) are among the smallest, which contributes to that lack of back-seat and cargo space. Factor in the low-slung look, and it's a direct consequence of sexy packaging.

You'll find some particularly impressive materials in the QX50's cabin--including supple leather, available wood trim, and no lack of soft-touch surfaces. The only thing that's missing, we think, is a little extra insulation from engine noise.

2014 INFINITI QX50 Safety

Great crash-test scores and advanced-tech features like around view help offset the poor outward visibility..

Although the QX50 is a new nameplate, the virtually identical predecessor, the Infiniti EX37, earned some respectable ratings and offered a good set of standard safety features.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given the QX50 'good' ratings in frontal and roof strength tests, but it has neither side nor small overlap frontal ratings; and the federal government hasn't yet tested this model. And we think that since the QX50 will likely remain a small-volume model we doubt it has current plans to test one.

Standard safety equipment in the EX includes dual front, side, and curtain airbags; anti-lock brakes; traction and stability control; and a rearview camera. Infiniti also offers Around View Monitoring, which uses cameras around the vehicle to generate a 360-degree view of obstacles when in reverse gear. It's a useful option, because visibility is so limited by the dramatic rear-end styling.

Used INFINITI QX50 for sale near

2014 infiniti qx50 features, premium technology, rich finishes, and excellent sound systems add up to a true luxury experience in the 2014 infiniti qx50..

Standalone options (port-installed accessories, technically), include roof-rail crossbars, a cargo-area protector, a first-aid kit, and a tonneau cover.

The available power-folding second-row seat is a step above other power-folding arrangements, and we like the simplicity of the QX50's infotainment and audio interface.

2014 INFINITI QX50 Fuel Economy

As other luxury crossovers are turning to smaller engines and turbocharging, the 2014 infiniti qx50 sticks with a large, thirsty v-6..

The 2014 Infiniti QX50 is a particularly eager performer, with a quick-shifting transmission, responsive downshifts, and rather low gearing. So it's no surprise that this model is far from a fuel-efficiency leader in its class.

Whether you go by the EPA ratings or real-world results that we've seen, it's quite thirsty. The official ratings stand at 17 mpg city, 25 highway with rear-wheel drive, or 17/24 mpg with AWD. And over some real-world drives, we haven't seen any higher than that.

It's even less impressive when you consider that the QX50 has less backseat and cargo space than most of its rivals.

Infiniti wx50 is a phenomenal car.

Love this car! It’s gotten me everywhere I needed to be reliably and with no issues. It’s comfortable, luxurious, efficient yet powerful without being overly ostentatious. I especially like the 3.7 Liter v6 engine which is the same engine as in the Nissan 370X. It’s peppery with325 horsepower and rear wheel biased until the car senses a need for additional front wheel drive . I never get stuck.

This car had potential but the CVT ruins it all It sinply cannot keep up with the sizable 3.7 L engine. Combine that with absolutely horrid gas milage, and the fact it requires premium fuel...what a shame.

Infiniti SUV Reliability Rankings: The Definitive Guide

Infiniti is brand that most of us are pretty aware of now. They’ve been around in North America since the late 80s and have been selling luxury cars ever since. They are the luxury division of Japanese manufacturer, Nissan , and have made a name for themselves selling high-end yet relatively affordable cars.

While Infiniti is definitely more well known for their sedans and sporty coupes, they have not been immune to the massive demand for SUVs and lost no time in shifting their offerings. Currently, Infiniti offers four SUVs to their singular sedan on sale, indicating just how heavily they invested in the SUV trend. Despite this, they've had a hard time finding traction in the states .

Most people have a preconception that luxury vehicles are not particularly reliable. This idea has been challenged in the last couple of years and the improvement is starting to be noticed. For instance, BMW won Consumer Reports’ brand of the year award. We focus specifically on Infiniti in this article and their SUVs, dissecting just how reliable they are and what some of their pros and cons are.

20 Most Reliable SUVs According To Consumer Reports

In compiling this article, we have cross-referenced information for vehicle reliability, maintenance, and pricing from sources like J.D. Power, Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, RepairPal, CarEdge, and Consumer Reports to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible. Please note that we have ranked the following models based on most reliable to least reliable.

2024 Infiniti QX60

Reliability score: 75/100.

The Infiniti QX60 sits in a hyper-competitive segment . Not only is it a midsize SUV, but it stands up against some heavy hitters from the likes of Porsche and BMW. While it sits in the lowest position on our list, one thing that it does have going for it is reliability.

Reliability

While the Infiniti has quite the competition in the midsize luxury SUV segment, it holds its own by being decently reliable and significantly cheaper to maintain than its competitors. J.D. Power rates the QX60 75 out of 100 for quality and reliability , which isn't a head-turning score, but also isn't bad by any means.

However, there are some major issues to consider. There are currently three recalls out for the QX60 for exterior lighting modules, seatbelts, and airbags. These are not minor issues and this definitely leaves a black mark. The worst model year to buy used is the 2014 model, with general poor build quality causing major issues with anything from the lighting to the powertrain.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $639 ( RepairPal )
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $10,805 ( CarEdge )
  • Total Recalls: 17
  • Worst QX60 Year To Buy Used: 2014

Performance And Features

(Source: Infiniti)

The 2024 Infiniti QX60 is a handsome looking SUV, both inside and out. However, underneath all the handsome styling is a ton of equipment borrowed from the Nissan Pathfinder . While the Pathfinder isn't a bad SUV, this means that the QX60 doesn't quite deliver in terms of performance and handling the way that other luxury SUVs can.

Infiniti has equipped the QX60 with tons of interior space as every model comes with a three-row layout, and it comes in a ton cheaper than any other luxury three-row SUV. Fine materials litter the cabin, providing the high quality feel that you'd expect from a luxury vehicle. Equipment such as a tri-zone climate control system with a built-in air purifier is also available, along with all the nicities you'd expect. However, it's hard not to view the QX60 as a prettied up Pathfinder.

Infiniti QX60 Common Problems

  • Older models exhibit jerking and shuttering from the CVT transmission
  • Timing chain rattle and tapping noise
  • Erratic and high idle after throttle maintance

The Most Affordable Mid-Size SUV To Offer Third-Row Seats As Standard

2024 infiniti qx55, reliability score: 77/100.

With a few more points under its belt, the Infiniti QX55 comes in next. It’s a sleeker version of Infiniti’s QX50 and comes with a striking fastback design . Once again Infiniti finds itself against some major competition, this time in the subcompact luxury SUV segment, however, the QX55’s interesting design and attractive price tag make it a unique choice.

The QX55 is a fairly new car, with the first model hitting the market for 2022 . This means that there isn’t a ton of data available on it. However, since it shares its platform and a ton of its equipment with the QX50, we can safely assume that cost will be fairly similar.

That being said, J.D. Power has rated the QX55 slightly higher than the QX60 in terms of quality and reliability with a score of 77 out of 100. This paired with the fact that the cost to buy and maintain a QX55 is lower than many other compact luxury SUVs makes it a viable competitor.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost (QX50): $608 ( RepairPal )
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years (QX50): $10,657 ( CarEdge )
  • Total Recalls: 0
  • Worst ES Year To Buy Used: N/A

As the more premium version of the QX50, the QX55 comes standard with all-wheel drive. It doesn't deliver the agility or the power of competitors from the likes of Audi or BMW but it does come at a decent amount cheaper. The QX55 has a starting MSRP of $50,150 and for that price it does deliver a decent amount of equipment. However, despite it being only three years old, it feels insanely outdated .

What is interesting about the Infiniti QX55, however, is that you're paying a premium for it over the QX50 but in a lot of areas you're getting less. While the sportback design is definitely attractive, it cuts in the headroom for rear passengers as well as the cargo space. You do get more premium interior materials, but the cabin still features a ton of off-putting Nissan-sourced buttons and controls which detract from the atmosphere.

Infiniti QX55 Common Problems

  • Door Lock issues (won't unlock)
  • Door Latch issues (could come open during a crash - recalled)
  • CVT shuttering and jerking

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 Breaks Cover With A New Face And A Wicked Twin-Turbo V-6

2024 infiniti qx80, reliability score: 81/100.

The Infiniti QX80 is a large SUV which shares its DNA with the Nissan Armada , which is easy to tell in a lot of ways. It is the most expensive Infiniti car you can own with a starting MSRP of $74,150 and comes with a ton of interior space and features which Infiniti hopes will draw you away from its rivals.

The Infiniti QX80 shares a lot of its bones with the Nissan Armada which means that it shares a similar level of reliability. The last time J.D. Power tested the QX80 was back in 2021 and they gave it 81 out of 100 for quality and reliability. Since then, not much has changed, bar it getting a better infotainment system and some improved driver assistance tech.

Considering it's a full-size luxury SUV and comes with tons of space and a V-8 powertrain, the fact that its maintenance is so affordable is definitely impressive. If you got a QX80 over other full-size luxury SUVs, like a Land Rover Range Rover or a BMW X7, you would save costs both upfront and in terms of servicing and maintenance down the line.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $718 ( RepairPal )
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $11,582 ( CarEdge )
  • Worst Year To Buy Used: 2014

The 2024 Infiniti QX80 comes kitted with a large V-8 as standard that pumps out more than enough power to satisfy most. This set up also means that this luxury SUV can tow a whopping 8500 pounds. The biggest downside to the QX80 is the fact that the interior and exterior are both showing signs of aging. This is especially disappointing on the inside where the materials and design don't justify the large price tag.

Luckily, the QX80 is due for a complete overhaul for the 2025 model year and it looks as though it is leaping forward into the modern age, with and impressive appearance and a new twin-turbo V-6.

Infiniti QX80 Common Problems

  • Rattling noise from engine bay
  • Faulty backup camera (recalled)
  • Fuel pump failure (recalled)

2024 Infiniti QX60: A Welcome Redesign Makes It Relevant Again

2023 infiniti qx50, reliability score: 82/100.

Unlike its crossover coupe cousin, the QX55, the Infiniti QX50 delivers a more traditional luxury SUV feel. Its sleek and handsome exterior is more traditional and offers a more spacious interior for all passengers. Its competition hasn’t changed though and a bevy of compact luxury SUVs go head-to-head with the QX50.

While J.D. Power hasn’t yet tested the 2024 model year of the QX50, it has consistently sat ahead of its stablemates. The 2023 model year QX50 achieved a score of 82 out of 100 for quality and reliability . This figure is a pretty solid one to work off of for the 2024 model year considering the QX50 has remained unchanged bar some new paint options.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $608 ( RepairPal )
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $10,657 ( CarEdge )
  • Total Recalls: 1
  • Worst Year To Buy Used: 2019

T he QX50 shares the same powertrain as the QX55 , outputting identical power. However, to gain access to all-wheel drive models you're going to have to shell out more money. As with the rest of its models, Infiniti prioritizes comfort in the QX50 over performance

High quality materials are used throughout and on all trim levels. If you go for the most expensive models you have the choice of quilted leather seats, wood interior trim, and a faux-suede headliner. The spacious rear seats also mean passengers will always feel comfortable, especially due to the fact that they can recline.

Infinti QX50 Common Problems

  • Leaks and noise from moon roof
  • Whining noise from under the hood during acceleration
  • Engine knock or ping (does not affect operation)
  • Faulty fuel pump
  • Passenger-side knee airbag mounting (recalled)

Moscow, like other international urban areas , is decentralizing, despite considerable barriers. The expansion will lead to even more decentralization, which is likely to lead to less time "stuck in traffic" and more comfortable lifestyles. Let's hope that Russia's urban development policies, along with its plans to restore population growth, will lead to higher household incomes and much improved economic performance.

Note 1: The 23 ward (ku) area of Tokyo is the geography of the former city of Tokyo, which was abolished in the 1940s. There is considerable confusion about the geography of Tokyo. For example, the 23 ward area is a part of the prefecture of Tokyo, which is also called the Tokyo Metropolis, which has led some analysts to think of it as the Tokyo metropolitan area (labor market area). In fact, the Tokyo metropolitan area, variously defined, includes, at a minimum the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama with some municipalities in Gunma, Ibaraki and Tochigi. The metropolitan area contains nearly three times the population of the "Tokyo Metropolis."

Note 2: The expansion area (556 square miles or 1,440 square kilometers) has a current population of 250,000.

Note 3: Includes all residents in suburban districts with at least part of their population in the urban area.

Road in city area.

The roads and ways of the city areas are very clumsy and many accidents are happening due to the short road. But you need to maintain the driving properly otherwise you may face accident. So now the government decided to expand the road which may put the positive effect on automobile sector. I think it is a helpful service for the society people. If you have a BMW car and you have faced any problem then better to repair it at BMW Repair Spring, TX for the best service.

Transit & transportation

Transit and transportation services are quite impressive in most of the urban cities; therefore people were getting better benefits from suitable transportation service. Urban cities like Moscow, Washington, New York and Tokyo; we have found high margin of transportation system that helps to build a better communication network in these cities. I hope through the help of modern transportation system we are able to bring revolutionary change in automobile industries; in this above article we have also found the same concepts to develop transportation system. Moscow is bursting Noblesse at the seams. The core city covers more than 420 square miles (1,090 kilometers), and has a population of approximately 11.5 million people. The 23 ward area of Tokyo (see Note) is at least a third more dense, though Moscow's land area is at least half again as large as Tokyo. All three core areas rely

Russians seeing the light while Western elites are bickering?

What an extremely interesting analysis - well done, Wendell.

It is also extremely interesting that the Russian leadership is reasonably pragmatic about urban form, in contrast to the "planners" of the post-rational West.

An acquaintance recently sent me an article from "The New Yorker", re Moscow's traffic problems.

The article "abstract" is HERE (but access to the full article requires subscription)

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/02/100802fa_fact_gessen

One classic quote worth taking from it, is: "People will endure all manner of humiliation to keep driving".

I do find it odd that the "New Yorker" article author says nothing at all about the rail transit system Moscow had, on which everyone was obliged to travel, under Communism. It can't surely have vaporised into thin air?

Moscow is a classic illustration of just how outmoded rails are, and how important "automobility" is, when the auto supplants rails so rapidly than even when everybody did travel on rails up to a certain date, and the road network dates to that era, when nobody was allowed to own a car; an article written just 2 decades later does not even mention the rail transit system, other than to criticise the mayor for "failing to invest in a transit system".......!!!!!!!!

This is also a give-away of "The New Yorker's" inability to shake off the modern PC ideology on rails vs cars.

You fly for hours, anticipating your arrival, wanting to take in the area and the views of another country far away from your departure airport. The airport and the area you leave from is detailed and visually full, and you know you have a great airport scenery waiting for you at the other end of the flight, then when you arrive...

...  Nothing, but flat plain emptiness and the same boring standard X-Plane basic scenery, worse there is no OSM (Open Street Map) data in the tile either, so there is no road or autogen detailing in there as well, just well nothing.

When Drzewiecki Design released their UUEE Sheremetyevo Airport XP , I loved it because it was like a visitor from the Cold War past, the Soviet era, and it was also great scenery and great choice of a destination to fly to from any of the capitals of Europe...  but that was it, just this great airport in the middle of nothingness, bland....   zero ville.

Moscow old.jpg

Now Drzewiecki Design has released "Moscow City"  a scenery package to compliment their UUEE Sheremetyevo, and boy how much a difference this release has done to this totally boring area.

To get the full first impression effect I flew JARDesign's A320neo from EFHK Vatnaa, Helsinki to UUEE Sheremetyevo which is flight Finnair AY153 which is a daily 9.25am service.

Moscow City_ Dep Vatnaa 1.jpg

First Impressions

I was surprised to start picking up scenery still quite away out from central Moscow, as I approached my 6000ft transition altitude. Here there was buildings and houses and the physical visual notes you were arriving somewhere.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 1.jpg

Looking hard at the horizon through the A320's windows and you could see the iconic silhouette of Moscow city.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 5.jpg

The scenery provides lite versions of all Moscow's Airports, this is UUWW Vnukovo, which was easily recognisable as you flew over. As you fly closer to the centre of the city the density of the objects below becomes quite heavy as the landscape fills in. You have all kinds of infrastructure including, blocks of flats, tower blocks, factories, housing, skyscrapers and almost everything that makes up an urban landscape, in all there is 2000 custom-made buildings that makes up this impressive scenery.

A note here in that you don't get that rolling as you move feeling effect where as it just suddenly appears in front of you and then quickly disappears behind as soon as you have flown out over the area. There is a slight effect of that as there has to be, but only in the far distance and as you can see from the images the views in every direction are widespread and visually it is very good to excellent.

The "Seven Sisters" or "Stalinist skyscrapers" built from 1947 to 1953 are all in the scenery with their "Wedding Cake" architecture or officially  Russian Baroque               - Gothic style. Most famous is the Moscow State University, front and centre of the image below.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival LG 16.jpg

Central Moscow is excellent and extremely realistic, and you really need a travel guide to pick out the landmarks and detail, but it is hard to miss the Red Kremlin complex  and St Peter's square from the air.  Both sides of the aircraft is visually full until you have crossed right over the city.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 7.jpg

I am not a fan of the generated 3d OSM scenery, but this is very good in blending in perfectly with the X-Plane default scenery and giving you a smooth transition from country to urban and back again with great realism.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 14.jpg

Over the city and turning north towards Sheremetyevo, another Moscow airport UUMU Chkalovsky is represented on the turn.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 17.jpg

The city skyline is now easily visible on landing at Sheremetyevo, and that really helps in the arrival factor, more so in that the cities building infrastructure spread now comes up and around the airport to fill the gaps to the city itself, and making the original  Sheremetyevo scenery that was so open and lonely in the old X-Plane view is now a big part of the whole in this combination. No doubt it really brings this always good scenery now alive and very usable.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 19.jpg

Sheremetyevo Airport

Before we move on to the city itself. It is important to note the area around UUEE Sheremetyevo itself.

Moscow Sheremetyevo 1.jpg

Compare the large image above to the earlier image at the start of this review to see the amount of change there is around UUEE Sheremetyevo with the addition of this Moscow City package. The two sceneries are of course meant to be used together, and in reality it would look odd if you had Moscow City scenery installed without the Sheremetyevo scenery included to fill out the northern areas. A highlight is that both sceneries together form a single whole, as the areas between the airport and the central city area are well filled in and that gives you a huge area of coverage and the full visual aspect.

To get a closer lower look at the Moscow Center I commandeered Dreamfoil's lovely Bell 407.

Moscow Buildings 1.jpg

There is a 4.000km² total area covered with this scenery here, and you have expect some sort of building replication to cover all that ground. There is of course but as well in the fact there is also enough variations as to not keep it all interesting and not obviously visually obvious.

Moscow Buildings 2.jpg

The closer you go to the central area, the variations in the buildings change there in style and density as well. And then more of the iconic buildings start to appear as you get closer in again to the middle. The business district is excellent, with a lot of business towers and the more modern futuristic skyscraper architecture that stands out in every view point in eye scans across the city.

Moscow Buildings 5.jpg

The more recent is in tune with the more older Stalinist era that makes up the Moscow skyline.

The Kremlin Complex and the Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed (St Basil's) is excellently represented and so is "Red Square"

Moscow Buildings 10.jpg

There are Orthodox churches everywhere and all the big icons in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Grand Arena of the Central Lenin Stadium, Otkrytive Arena and department stores, museums and power stations and more....

I did have issues with many buildings floating, including the Kremlin. I tried both "Runways follow terrain contours" on and off with no flattening of the objects and there is no information in the manual either on how to fix the problem.

Night lighting is very good, yes there is again a repeatable pattern to the majority of the hundreds of the apartment blocks that does stand out, but the more individual buildings do all have that personal touch and some buildings look really very good.

Moscow Buildings Night 1.jpg

The highlight here is the business district which looks magnificent and is very realistic from any direction at night as is the lit Stadium.

Moscow Buildings Night 3.jpg

Although away from the central area the Ostankino Tower that stands 540.1 metres (1,772 ft) tall, and is the tallest freestanding structure in Europe and it looks great at night and is a very good position indicator from the air from any direction.

Included Moscow Airports

As noted also included in the scenery are seven airports and several helipads.

UUWW Vnukovo

Moscow UUWW Vnukovo 1.jpg

The futuristic Vnukovo International is very good for a lite version, with great terminals and lots of small detailing. Only thing missing is the static aircraft and a bit more ramp equipment, but otherwise it is highly usable.

UUDD Domodedovo

Moscow UUDD Domodedovo 1.jpg

The oldest of Moscow's International airports is Domodedovo. Again it is quite devoid of static aircraft and I am not crazy about the blue terminal glass work, but it is still a very workable scenery to use and has a lot of well made objects.

UUBW Zhukovsky

Moscow UUBW Zhukovsky 1.jpg

Zhukovsky was a major aircraft testing facility since the  cold war years, with most of the major Russian Experimental Design Bureau's having facilities here. It is also now used by the Ministry of Emergency Situations! and cargo carriers. It was also used as a test site for the Soviet Buran  reusable Spacecraft because it has the world's second longest pubic runway at at 5,402 m (17,723 ft). Mostly it is a collection of very large hangars but has a lot of static aircraft in storage.

UUMO Ostafyevo International Business Airport

Moscow UUMo Ostafyevo 1.jpg

A former military airbase. Ostafyevo features a new modern glass terminal, and caters primarily to business aviation.

UUMU Chkalovsky

Moscow UUMU Chkalovsky 1.jpg

Chkalovsky is a military logistics airport that is famous for it's support for the Russian Space program and transport to Star City and the Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center. Yuri Gagarin left here on his final flight before crashing by the town of Kirzhach.

UUBM Myachkovo Airport

Moscow UUBM Myachkovo 1.jpg

Myachkovo is a small General Aviation Airport that is owned by the Finpromko company. Cargo aircraft up to the size of the Ilyushin ll-76 freighter can also use the airport.

UUMB Kubinka

Moscow UUMB Kubinka 1.jpg

Kubinka has been a significant Russian military airbase and large airshows are held here to show off the Russian military might.

There is also provided UUU1 Kremlin Airport, within the Kremlin walls, but I couldn't get it to work? There are two pads in H1 and H2.

Your first thoughts after reviewing this excellent Moscow scenery is not with this actual package. You then wish that you could have this extensive scenery at London, Rome, Madrid, Berlin and the list could go on with any of your favorite European Cities, and don't count a load in the Middle East and Asia. But a London scenery like this would certainly be a godsend in our X-Plane world. Drzewiecki Design has already done Warsaw and Manhattan, so there is always hope.

It is not cheap either and you need to add in their UUEE Sheremetyevo scenery package on top of that as well. But you get an awful lot of ground covered here for your money, with the area covered here that is extensive...  huge and flying into Moscow will never be the same again.

A few areas to note in one that in my case a few of the buildings floated, the download is huge load at 1.4gb and this Russian area is not the best for navigation aids and programming FMS units as most waypoints are not recognised. Most of the airports ILS coordinates also have to checked and recalibrated (Drzewiecki Design do provide all the correct coordinates) so there is a little work to do to set up repeat services but the work is worth the results.

Not only is the actual Moscow city and all it's buildings supported, you also get seven (if lite versions) of Moscow's other airports included as well, but the framerate processing of all this huge amount of objects and scale is pretty good to excellent. Framerate does hurt more on a lower (helicopter) level and certainly you need a computer with a little extra power is in no doubt required, but overall for the size of the area the scenery is extremely efficient.

Yes I was impressed by this Moscow City Scenery, as this once very barren area of X-Plane is now a very attractive repeat destination as nothing can give you a greater fulfilment than seeing your destination appear in the distance and then give you a huge visual experience as you fly over and approach your destination.

Moscow City certainly delivers that and more...  Just more sceneries like this please!

Thank you for this very thorough (as always) review. I just bought it (it's on sale) and have only one disappointment so far: Red Square has no ILS or any landing aids at all for that matter. And what a nightmare of an approach! Also I was hoping the package would include an add-on that gives my c172 a big cup holder for my Stoli. Otherwise the scenery is gorgeous. What a country!

Moscow’s life 7 biggest problems and 7 solutions.

moscow problems and their solutions living in russia

Being sick never feels nice. Imagine asking for help in this state while being in a foreign country…You would need to strain your memory while struggling to remember any Russian words or phrases. Speaking a foreign language alone is stressful enough, add to this a state of being sick and you’ll find yourself completely frustrated. But what if you could speak Russian without stress, automatically and effortlessly? I’m not suggesting you to buy some super awesome course that will make you learn Russian in 7 days. In fact, I’m not suggesting you to buy anything at all :) I simply want to show you a few effective learning techniques that will help you overcome your language barrier. So, just let me know if you’re interested in joining the effective language learners community ;)
What do you tell a taxi driver, how do you use one of Russia’s minivan taxis and how far does a “one-ride” ticket in the metro take you? Find these great tips in our article  Navigating In Russian Cities .  We’ll make sure you never get lost in Russia!
If you do want to try out your luck with approaching “busy people of the capital”, you might want to consider being at least a bit prepared for it, i.e. in case you don’t want to be shoved away on the spot, you might need a few handy phrases to start off a conversation and grab local’s attention by saying something in Russian. But you should also be ready for a rather fast and at some point harsh answer. The good news is that there’s a way to be prepared for such situations. And I can show you how.
