About Emergency Road Service

Vehicles and services covered under Classic, Plus or Premier Membership: Roadside Assistance means 24–hour assistance for minor mechanical first aid; battery service, tire change, out of fuel, lockout service, extricating and towing. Roadside Assistance will be provided to you when the vehicle you are either driving or riding in becomes disabled. The following types of vehicles are eligible for service.

• Four–wheel motor–driven passengers vehicles (i.e. cars, vans and pick–up trucks, including rented passenger vehicles) if those services can be safely delivered.
• Dual rear wheel unloaded pick–up trucks are provided all services except tire service.
• Dual rear wheel campers and motor homes are covered for lockout, battery service and out of fuel services only. Additional services (such as towing and tire change services) are provided only if you have Plus or Premier RV Rider Membership.
• 2–wheeled bicycles, including rental bicycles that can be transported by a normal bicycle rack. Roadside Assistance provides transportation for the disabled bicycle but not repair.

Vehicles covered under Classic Motorcycle coverage:

• Two and three-wheeled Motorcycles

Vehicles covered under RV coverage:

• Campers, motor homes, motorcycles, travel trailers, and boat and utility trailers (but only if loaded with boat or recreational vehicle such as ATV, dirt bike or Jet Ski).

Some restrictions apply. What's not covered:

• Services on taxis, buses, moving trucks, limousines, or modified vehicles which would prevent the vehicle from being towed safely (i.e. plows).
• Services to a vehicle which AAA has determined to be unsafe due to overloading or which required heavy duty equipment to safely provide service.
• Services to a vehicle which is snowbound, including an unplowed street or driveway, or located in areas such as a vacant lot, back, front, or side yard, the beach, a field or barricaded street.
• Service to an unattended vehicle, unless prior approval has been given by AAA due to extenuating circumstances.
• Service to a vehicle located at a repair facility where repairs can be performed, except when it has been confirmed that the repairs cannot be provided or completed within 72 hours.
• No more than one tow per disablement.
• Tow request for a vehicle from the street to the driveway (unless obstructing traffic); one location to another on the property; a closed repair facility; a vacant or unattended location; or for the purposes of buying, selling, trading, junking, or donating.
• Tire service for dual–rear wheel trucks or vans (except under Plus RV Rider). Towing of utility trailers attached to a covered vehicle (service for the trailer may be provided at the Member's expense).
• The cost for repairs, parts and labor.
• Taxi service from site of disablement. Taxi service or other transportation can be arranged at the Member's expense.
• Service may be restricted, delayed, or suspended due to severe weather conditions.
• Reimbursement of tow expenses covered by insurance.
• Delivery of diesel fuel.

Additional Points:

• Your membership benefit cannot be transferred to or used by an other person.
• AAA will charge an additional non–refundable immediate Service Fee if Roadside Assistance is requested at the time a Member joins or cancelled Member renews with the Club beyond their Membership Grace Period.

Classic Member:

• Entitled to 4 Roadside Assistance calls per Member, per membership year for covered services, including up to $50 for auto lockout service and Roadside Assistance to transport a bicycle.
• May have the vehicle towed to the responding AAA facility or any other destination, including the hookup & first 5 miles of towing, at no charge — additional mileage at Member discount rates.
• Out of Fuel Service provides a sufficient amount of gasoline to enable your vehicle to reach the closest open service station. Member pays pump price for gas. If this service fails to make the vehicle operable, the extended towing benefit will apply.
• Tolls are not covered.

Plus Member:

• Entitled to 4 Roadside Assistance calls per Member, per membership year for covered services, including up to $100 for auto lockout service.
• May have the vehicle towed to the responding AAA facility or any other destination, including the hookup and first 100 miles of towing, at no charge —additional mileage at Member discounted rates.
• Out of Fuel Service provides a sufficient amount of gasoline at no additional cost to enable your vehicle to reach the closes open service station. If this fails to make the vehicle operable, the extended towing benefit will apply.

Premier Member:

• Entitled to 5 Roadside Assistance calls per Member, per membership year for covered services, including up to $150 for auto lockout service.
• May have the vehicle towed to the responding AAA facility or any other destination, including the hookup & first 100 miles of towing, at no charge — additional mileage at member discounted rate. Also entitled to one tow up to 200 miles per Member per membership year.

AAA may arrange for service to Members who have exceeded their "per membership year" allowance however Members will be required to pay for each additional call at AAA Member discounted rates. There is a 7 day waiting period from the time you payment is processed before you can receive Plus or Premier benefits; this also applies to an upgrade from one membership level to another; to renewal of membership 60 days or more after expiration, or if you just joined the Club and enrolled initially as a Plus or Premier Rider Member. Services during this waiting period will be provided under the guidelines for Classic Membership.

AAA Liability

• We have contracted with independent service facilities to provide Roadside Assistance. AAA shall not be liable for any damage, injury or loss occasioned by or resulting from rendering, attempted rendering, or failure to provide any Roadside Assistance or towing or failure thereof by any independent service facility.
• The independent service facilities are not agents of AAA, nor is AAA an agent of them. They are solely responsible for their actions. Any arrangements you make for subsequent, non–emergency repairs are between you and the service facility.

*Some toll roads and some limited access highways provide their own Roadside Assistance and will not permit AAA to come to your assistance. You should request that they tow your vehicle to their lot off the toll road so that you may contact AAA to request service. In some instances some of the providers will accept your membership card in lieu of payment to remove your vehicle from the toll road or limited access highway. Otherwise, pay for the service and get an itemized receipt, which you may submit to AAA for reimbursement consideration.

Trip Interruption Expense Reimbursement:

Classic & Plus: Your vehicle must be involved in an accident in the United States or Canada, 100 miles or more from home, while on a planned leisure trip which included at least 1 overnight stay. Vehicle must be disabled and inoperable for a minimum of 8 hours (mechanical disablement excluded). You may request reimbursement for reasonable, unanticipated costs of accommodations, meals or substitute transportation, up to $500 for Classic Members, up to $1,000 for Plus Members. These expenses must be incurred within 72 hours of the accident. Premier: Your vehicle must be involved in an accident or experience mechanical failure (excluding tire trouble) or theft of the vehicle in the United States or Canada, 100 miles or more from home while on a leisure trip planned to include at least 1 overnight stay, and due to the accident, mechanical failure or theft, your vehicle must be inoperable for a minimum of eight (8) hours. Premier Members may request reimbursement for reasonable unanticipated costs of accommodations and meals or substitute transportation, up to $1,500 incurred within 96 hours of the covered event. All requests for Trip Interruption Expense reimbursements must include a police report and original receipts for expenses incurred.

Legal Defense Reimbursement:

AAA Members are eligible for the reimbursement of attorney's fees for the defense of vehicle–related charges if there is a plea of not guilty. While the Legal Defense reimbursement is dependent upon the charges faced, AAA Classic Members are eligible for reimbursements up to $1,000, AAA Plus Members are eligible to be reimbursed up to $1,500, and Premier Members are eligible for reimbursement up to $2,000.

• Not guilty plea must be entered and maintained
• Not eligible if you plead guilty to a lesser charge
• Submit original bill from attorney and copy of final decision
• Not eligible if convicted of illegal conduct, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; evading police; hit and run; or theft of a vehicle

Moving Traffic Violation:

• Representation in Primary Court — up to $50
• Representation in any Higher Court — up to $75
• Maximum combined benefit — $125

Plus & Premier

• Representation in Primary Court — up to $100
• Representation in any Higher Court — up to $150
• Maximum combined benefit — $250

Assault & Battery by Automobile:

• Representation in Primary Court — up to $200
• Representation in any Higher Court — up to $300
• Maximum combined benefit — $500

Manslaughter by Automobile:

• Representation in Primary Court — up to $400
• Representation in any Higher Court — up to $600
• Maximum combined benefit — $1,000
• Representation in Primary Court — up to $800
• Representation in any Higher Court — up to $1,200
• Maximum combined benefit — $1,500

Vehicle Theft Reward: A reward will be offered for information provided by a person, unrelated to the Member, which leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone who steals or vandalizes your vehicle. Classic Membership Reward — total of $1,000 regardless of number of witnesses. Plus & Premier Membership Reward — total of $1,500.

Witnesses should call 1-800-768-8200, ext 69074, to get details on how to apply for the reward once the accused has been tried and convicted of auto theft and/or vandalism. Note: Members and their immediate family are ineligible to receive a reward with respect to the Member's vehicle.

Membership Refund Policy

Membership Refund Policy within First 3 Months of New Membership

At any time during the first three months of your new membership including any upgrades and added associate Members, you decide AAA isn't right for you, simply cancel. We'll refund the unused portion of your paid membership dues. Overpayments will be applied to your next membership renewal or on a request basis will be 100% refunded. No other refunds will be granted.

Membership Refund Policy for Renewing Memberships and New Membership after First 3 Months of Membership

Membership dues payments including renewals, upgrades and added associate Members will not be refunded once applied to your membership; however, your membership will remain in force until it expires.

Over payments will be applied to your next membership renewal or on a request basis will be 100% refunded.

Membership Renewal

Important information about paying your membership dues.

AAA records memberships on a monthly basis. For example, if a member joins on January 3rd, the membership will not expire until February 1st of the following year. There is a 7 day waiting period for Plus, Premier & RV enhanced services. Classic level service will be provided during this period.

When a membership is renewed within 59 days of the membership expiration, the original membership join dates and expiration date are unchanged and the Member's years of membership tenure continue to accrue. AAA continues to provide all services to Members for the first 29 days after membership expiration, and all services except Roadside Assistance for the next 30 days (Roadside Assistance is available at Member rates during this latter, 30–period). Note also, the annual membership dues will be due one year from the original expiration date, which will be less than twelve months from the late payment date.

When a membership is renewed 60 days or more following the expiration date, those Members will receive a new join date, a new annual expiration date and any accrued membership tenure will be lost.

Roadside Assistance Policy

The club reserves the right to cancel the membership for a Member's abusive use of Roadside Assistance Services of the Club ("Services"). In addition, a Member who requests or uses an excessive amount of Service; that is, uses Services over a sustained period that are greater than the average Member uses, may be subject to membership downgrades at renewal or the non-renewal of the membership.

This App gives me a feeling of security!

I’m a first time user of the AAA app. Last Friday while on the interstate our truck overheated and so did the transmission, blowing fluid out of the dipstick tube, so I called AAA for assistance. While on the phone they walked me through installation of the app. While I was on the phone the truck cooled down and my husband was able to put transmission fluid back in the truck. I was able to cancel my call for assistance easily using this app. Yesterday I went out to go to work and my car cranked but would not turn over. Today I used the app to schedule my car to be towed to our mechanic. They kept in touch with me through the whole process with text messages and a map on the app that showed me where the tow truck was at at all times and it’s ETA. These are wonderful features! I keep thinking about what if I was alone and stranded on a dark road? I would know that help was on its way because the app also has the ability to locate me, and if I’m remembering correctly it asked if I’m in a safe location and gives me an option to call 911. SECURITY :-)

App generally ok, but timer is flawed

The app is generally ok. It provides a space to put your member card so you don’t have to carry it around, links to other services you can buy, and the roadside assistance link. Generally, the request for roadside assistance is easy to use - just a few clicks and help is supposedly on the way. The issue is that the “arrival time” timer isn’t really based on any actual information for your case. It’s an average of all of their service calls. My 20-min wait has turned into a 90-min wait, with phone support stating they don’t really know where the service techs are or when they’ll arrive or if they’re really on their way to me. First time user of this app and the roadside assistance service of AAA. Honestly, my next round I’ll continue using USAA. Their communication (app, text, and phone) are much more rooted in reality and don’t set up false expectations or hopes while you’re stranded on the side of the road. **Edit to update that we’ve now been on the side of the highway for two and a half hours, and the phone tech finally shared that A)They haven’t found a driver yet and B) they’re not sure they can because all of the orgs on their list aren’t affiliated to AAA anymore. So, yeah - the timer in the app is a gimmick. There wasn’t anyone on the way when it started counting down. I’ll give the app five stars for setting false expectations, thou!

Improving but still some issues

The app and content are improving, especially with the addition of tour books. I cannot get the app Feedback to work on my iPhone with latest iOS. The Feedback takes one to a browser window, but then at the window I cannot get the button or whatever the icon is to work. I tried Safari and Chrome browser apps. Here’s what I wanted to give feedback on - the tour book for Puerto Rico seems to have a lot of sightseeing content missing for the city of San Juan. Like it seems to only be a page and things like Old San Juan are not listed. And I don’t seem to see a summery list of Gem attractions for the Caribbean tour book so one can easily see all the Gem attractions for place like Puerto Rico. And while I like the tour book format, I’d still like for tour book data to be made available in a map based search view, so I can search for a place or area and see all the tour book sights for a place like San Juan Puerto Rico. What I seemed to find was a search that gave me lots of Activities, which is great. But I’d also like On the map view, I can filter by Gas, Auto Repair, Dining, Shopping, AAA office locations, but not by tour book sights. And the map view is called “Near Me” and under “Discounts and Rewards.” There should be a “Map Views” under “Travel.” I’m in the Mid-Atlantic club area.

Don’t Get April Fooled by Wobbling Gas Prices

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After an early spring surge, the national average for a gallon of gas spent the past week drifting up and down by a fraction of a cent before settling a penny higher at $3.53. But the break may be temporary, as gas pump prices will likely resume a spring increase. 

“Uncertainty of the impact of Ukraine’s targeting of Russia’s oil infrastructure likely spiked oil prices recently,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “But those concerns have abated somewhat for now, and gas prices are settling into a pattern similar to last year when the usual seasonal increase was slow and steady.”    

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand dipped slightly from 8.81 to 8.72 million b/d last week. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks increased by 1.3 million bbl to 232.1 million bbl. Lower demand would typically contribute to pushing pump prices lower or slowing increases, but rising oil prices have kept them elevated instead.

Today’s national average of $3.53 is 24 cents more than a month ago and 10 cents more than a year ago.

Oil Market Dynamics

At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, WTI decreased by 27 cents to settle at $81.35. Oil prices fell after the EIA reported that total domestic commercial crude stocks increased by 3.2 million bbl to 448.2 million bbl last week. Although stocks increased when compared to a year ago, the current stock level is 25.5 million bbl lower than at the end of March 2023.

Florida gasoline prices hit high point for 2024, AAA says

Factors pushing prices up: spring break, refinery maintenance, extended production cut..

Regular gasoline prices in Florida reached a new 2024 high last week, jumping 12 cents to a state average of $3.62 per gallon, according to the AAA-The Auto Club Group.

A gallon is still cheaper than last spring's high of $3.72, but spring break, refinery maintenance, extended production cut and the recent drone attacks on Russian oil refineries are pushing the price at the pump, the group's weekly gas prices report says.

"Analysts believe OPEC and its allies will not lift production cuts before June, even as seasonal fuel demand is projected to grow," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for the group.

Friday's closing price of $83.17 per barrel of crude oil is 30 cents less than the 2024 high, but still 3% higher than the week before.
