A message from the band

Attention Third Eye Army,

Due to illness, we regretfully announce that our performance at Howler is cancelled.

This is not a decision that we take lightly, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we have no other option but to cancel the show.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We were eager to take the stage once again for 2023 to deliver you the Third Eye Tool tribute experience that you all help to make possible,

but at point in time, we're sadly not in a position to do so.

We're immensely appreciative of your ongoing support and understanding at this time.

We will organize refunds with Moshtix for all VIP and general admission ticket holders. We'll advise once these have been completed.

We will endeavour to reschedule this gig at a later stage and provide you all an update when possible.

Once again, we're incredibly sorry that we've had to cancel this performance. We hope to take the stage again for you as soon as possible!

Tim, Lex, Matt, Cam

Tool Make a More than Welcome Return with A Melbourne Headline Show

It’s been close to seven years since iconic metal outfit tool performed on australian shores, and the group were sure not to let their fans down., tyler jenke, tyler jenke's most recent stories.

Tool's first performance in Melbourne since 2013 was a welcome return for the metal icons.

The last time Tool visited Australia was close to seven   years ago. Their seventh time in the country, it was difficult to find diehard fans who would complain about seeing these legends of progressive-rock on the live stage. However, their presence was undoubtedly a little bit hollow to some, with the group having visited three times since the release of their fourth album, 2006’s 10,000 Days .

Of course, much of the music news of 2019 was occupied by discussions of Tool’s latest album, with the long-awaited Fear Inoculum showing up after 13 years, a lawsuit, and questions about whether the band would actually ever release anything again.

To help cap off a year to remember for the band, November saw the outfit share the dates of their first Australian tour since 2013, with most dates promptly selling out.

With months of eager waiting soon following, Saturday evening saw Tool finally return to Melbourne, taking up residence at Rod Laver Arena for the first date of a two-night stand.

Before the Los Angeles quartet could take to the stage though, fans were treated to the industrial experience that is Author & Punisher.   Likened by some in the crowd to being a “metal DJ” of sorts, this one-man project of Tristan Shore was undoubtedly something that needed to be seen to be believed.

Between droning, atmospheric sections punctuated by pneumatic beats, howled vocals, and eclectic samples, the lengthy set often drew parallels with artists like KMFDM, Ministry, or evening Tool’s own 1996 deep cut, “Die Eier Von Satan”.

Though it was clear many in the audience were conflicted by the performance (with an obvious division between those who couldn’t quite understand it and those who couldn’t get enough), the consistent arrival of crushing sounds – akin to that of hell itself being unleashed – served as the closest thing to a perfect mood-setter that fans could hope for.

With avid excitement reaching fever pitch as time marched on, the appearance of a clear curtain around the stage signalled the return of Tool to Melbourne.

As drummer Danny Carey (whose forthcoming performance would truly see him become worthy of comparisons to an octopus) kicked off the title track of their latest record, the musical slow-burn soon reached its mesmerising peak with the vocals of frontman Maynard James Keenan forcefully cascading over the exceptional work of guitarist Adam Jones and bassist Justin Chancellor.

With the spotlight overlooking the band’s members (as is tradition), the presence of immersive visuals, frenetic lights and lasers, and accompanying music videos helped to put the tunes into context; ebbing and flowing as the blistering rhythms and melodies did the same.

Though a few surprises followed throughout the setlist (including the presence of “The Patient” and “Part of Me”), a handful of omissions clearly stood out (including the absence of “Parabol” and the recently-debuted “7empest” ), though the entire set was enough to be remembered as one of the finest collections of the band’s tracks performed on stage for some time.

Though a Tool concert is often noted for its atmospheric presentation, visual accompaniment, and (in Australia, at least) comparable rarity, the true star of the show is the collective musicianship of the band members themselves. While acute and shifting time signatures may serve as a barrier of entry to some newcomers to the band, the presence of this undoubtedly added to the rich tapestry of the evening, with extended instrumental sections highlighting the sheer talent of the rhythm section.

Even the post-intermission/encore performance of drummer Danny Carey’s “Chocolate Chip Trip” became more than just a percussive spotlight, with its outstanding technical proficiency likely inspiring a few fans to pick up the sticks and take to their nearest kit.

Closing out the night with the ubiquitous “Stinkfist”, Maynard took this as an opportunity to flex his charitable muscles, requesting security stand down so that the ban of photography and video may be lifted for this final song.

Of course, with a veritable sea of phone backlights illuminating the audience, the 1996 classic rang out across the venue, soundtracking impromptu moshpits as eager black-shirted fans wrapped up a night they’d remember forever.

For longtime fans of Tool, the group’s concerts are something akin to a religious experience. In fact, it was quite easy to find folks in the crowd who were spouting the fact that they’d managed to attend numerous stops on this latest tour; effectively putting the humble effects of casual fans to shame.

However, it’s refreshing to see a performance from a band who show little to no pretence. Sure, the band’s fans may attract similar criticism at times, though Tool themselves are a group who rely heavily on allowing their music to speak for itself; almost wholly removing the human aspect and allowing focus to rest mainly on music and visuals.

With the band’s intent to make this an immersive experience, the coupling of a lack of mobile phones throughout the crowd truly allowed for a show which could be enjoyed – dare we say – like the good old days. In fact, if anything, this concert quickly became the very example of what a gig  should be, with the outfit putting on one of the finest shows you’ll ever see, and pairing it with an experience very rarely seen in this day and age.

Though Tool have now wrapped up the first night of their long-awaited return to Melbourne, some lucky fans clearly are clearly looking towards the next night with the excitement of doing it again, undoubtedly hoping that round two might just result in the potential appearance of the elusive “7empest” . Time will tell, but for those who witnessed the band’s first night in Melbourne, it’ll be hard to compare anything to this example of musical perfection.

Tool announce Australian tour for February 2020

Rock band Tool stand in an old house. Guitarist Adam Jones hides behind a door.

  • X (formerly Twitter)

The band will play four massive shows around the country

UPDATE: Due to demand in the pre-sale, Tool have added second shows in Melbourne and Sydney. All the dates are at the bottom of the article.

It's already been a big year for Tool fans.

The eminent Los Angeles alt-metal superstars broke a 13-year drought by finally releasing their fifth studio album, Fear Inoculum , in August.

The album was a huge success in Australia. It debuted at number one on the album charts, scored the Double J Feature Album slot and was well-received by fans and critics across the board.

So, it's no surprise that the band want to make it over to play these new songs – and a stack of their classic material – for their loyal Australian fans as soon as possible. Which is why they have locked in four huge dates for February of 2020.

This will be Tool's first trip to Australia since 2013, where the band played six shows in a few of the same venues as they'll visit in 2020. This time around Perth fans get the chance to see the band in action, while the people of Adelaide will sadly miss out.

There is no word on who will support Tool on these shows, stay tuned for that info.

If you've seen the band before, you'll know that their epic songs take on a whole new meaning when seen in the context of their live show. The visual experience is a deeply thought-out aspect of the band's work that stands almost as tall as the music for which they're so revered.

When we see the band, they should be in prime condition, having just wrapped up their 26-date American tour at the start of February.

Dedicated fans will have no doubt already delved into the setlists from these shows and seen that the shows featuring a broad spread of songs from across the band's catalogue. Though the emphasis does appear to be on the epic new album, which we'll experience for the first time when the band comes to town in 2020.

That new album will be re-released in a deluxe format in December, complete with 3D lenticular cards with exclusive graphics, an expanded booklet, and a download of the immersive visual experience video Recusant Ad Infinitum .

Catch Tool playing the following shows:

  • Friday 14 February – RAC Arena, Perth
  • Monday 17 February – Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney
  • Tuesday 18 February – Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney
  • Thursday 20 February – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
  • Saturday 22 February – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
  • Sunday 23 February – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

Tickets are on sale from 2pm local time, Friday 22 November.

If you're interested in jumping the queue, head to the tour website for information on pre-sale tickets .

The K-pop group will come to Australia in February as part of their 'Maniac' world tour

Stray Kids

After selling out the first two dates of their 2023 Australian tour, Stray Kids have added second shows in both Sydney and Melbourne.

  • READ MORE: Stray Kids – ‘Oddinary’ review: a reflection of their extraordinary passion and growth

The K-pop group will now start their tour on February 17 at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, before playing a sold-out show at the same venue the following evening. They’ll play a sold-out show at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on February 21, with a new show being announced today for the following night. Tickets for both shows will go on sale today (October 5) at 1pm.

Next year’s dates will mark Stray Kids’ return to Australia after they played their debut shows in the country in 2019 – also in Sydney and Melbourne. The run is part of their ‘Maniac’ world tour , which comes in support of the band’s three 2022 mini-albums – ‘Oddinary’ (which arrived in March), ‘Circus’ (which was released in June) and ‘Maxident’ , which is scheduled to arrive in October.

The Asian leg of Stray Kids’ ‘Maniac’ tour kicked off in Tokyo, Japan in late July, before shows in Seoul, South Korea last month. It will head to Jakarta, Indonesia in November before dates in Thailand and Singapore in February ahead of the Australian shows.

Stray Kids had to reschedule shows in Atlanta, Georgia and Forth Worth, Texas while touring the US in July after three of their eight members tested positive for COVID-19 . The group have since confirmed rescheduled shows for March of next year and added one additional show in each city.

Earlier this month, Stray Kids unveiled snippets of ‘Maxident’ through a mashup clips that previewed all eight tracks on the forthcoming mini-album. The record is due out October 7 and will be accompanied by the release of the music video for lead single ‘Case 143’.

Stray Kids’ 2023 Australian tour dates are:

FEBRUARY Friday 17 – Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena (new show) Saturday 18 – Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena (sold out) Tuesday 21 – Sydney, Qudos Bank Arena (sold out) Wednesday 22 – Sydney, Qudos Bank Arena (new show)

Paul McCartney Shares 2023 Australian Tour Dates with Video

Paul McCartney Shares 2023 Australian Tour Dates with Video

Few musicians have the distinction and legacy that Paul McCartney has. The living legend, a British band icon, a founding member of The Beatles , and a solo musician, is launching on another highly anticipated tour. This article looks into the schedule of Paul McCartney ‘s Australian tour 2023 dates.

Everything you need to know about Paul McCartney’s upcoming Australia tour

Paul McCartney ‘s musical career began in Liverpool, England, in the early 1960s when he co-founded The Beatles with John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Paul McCartney started his solo career after the Beatles disbanded in 1970. As a youngster, he taught himself to play guitar and piano after being influenced by rock and roll performers such as Buddy Holly and Little Richard. So it’s no surprise that he debuted an album in 1970 after the group disbanded. In 1971, Paul and his wife Linda McCartney created the band Wings, with which he also performed until 1981 and recorded seven studio albums .

As a lead guitarist, backup singer, and lead vocalist on occasion, McCartney III, his most recent album, will be released on December 18, 2020. Paul McCartney released 18 solo studio albums during his long and successful career. Paul McCartney always continues touring worldwide after the band’s split.

McCartney’s upcoming Australian tour in 2023 promises to be an incredible musical trip through the eras. McCartney’s set list will undoubtedly include a selection of his best hits from The Beatles and his distinguished solo career. Songs such as “Hey Jude,” “Let It Be,” “Live and Let Die,” “Band on the Run,” and “Maybe I’m Amazed” are likely to be performed on this tour.

Beyond the music, Paul McCartney’s Australian Tour 2023 has sentimental meaning. For many fans, attending this event is more than simply seeing a musical icon; it’s an emotional voyage back in time. November 2023:

The tour will begin on October 18 in Adelaide, where The Beatles made history on their first visit to Australia in 1964.

An estimated 350,000 people waited between the airport and Town Hall to see the band. This will be his first visit to Australia since his award-winning 2017 tour.

Frontier Touring CEO Dion Brandy talked about the upcoming Australia tour:

“At least a few places different.  We saw when Elton John came just how Newcastle embraced the show and embraced Elton and his team. We were super excited to suggest the to Paul [McCartney] and we are really excited that he’s agreed to do it.

People were blown away and there was so much regret from people who didn’t go, back in 2017. To be honest, we started conversations then about coming back the following summer… And then Paul got quite busy. And you know, it’s Paul McCartney … So you take the time frame you can get.”

Paul McCartney also shared a statement about the 2023 Australia tour:

“I have got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years. Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party, so we know this is going to be incredibly special.

Australia, we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you.”

Fasten your seatbelts: the Australian electronic favourites are bringing their latest arena show to Melbourne.

Pendulum: Australian and New Zealand Tour 2023

The year was 2005. The album: Hold Your Colour . That's when Pendulum hit the big time, and also why. The Perth-born drum-and-bass group not only became a homegrown sensation with their debut record and its tracks 'Slam', 'Tarantula' and 'Fasten Your Seatbelts', but made it into the UK Top 40 Singles Chart as well.

Now, the year is 2023. Almost two decades after that breakout album, the Perth-born electronic favourites are breaking out their latest Down Under tour . Five stops, two countries, plenty of echoing arenas: that's what's in store when Pendulum play Australia and New Zealand in October, including on Saturday, October 7 at John Cain Arena in Melbourne.

This'll be the first time that the band has performed across either country since 2021. Pendulum won't just be giving Hold Your Colour 's tunes a whirl, but also songs from 2008's In Silico and 2010's Immersion . Expect to hear new single 'Halo' featuring Bullet for My Valentine singer Matt Tuck get a spin, too.

Currently comprised of Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillien, Peredur ap Gwynedd and KJ Sawka, Pendulum heads home with experience playing huge overseas festivals such as Glastonbury, Creamfields, Coachella , Rock Am Ring, Reading and Leeds, and also recently headlining Ultra Miami.

The band went on hiatus from early 2012, with Swire and McGrillien focusing on side project Knife Party, before starting to reunite in 2015.

Joining Pendulum on their latest Aussie and Aotearoa tour: fellow Perth-bred drum and bass talent ShockOne, aka Karl Thomas.
