Everything you need to know before flying with Wizz Air
Wizz Air check-in
Wizz Air offers online check-in and check-in at the airport. Please note that only the first option is free.
Online check-in
Every passenger is required to check in. The whole process is simple and only takes a few minutes at most.
On wizzair.com , click on Check-in in the menu, log in and fill in the necessary details. You will then receive a boarding pass that you can print or save on your phone or tablet. A legible QR code is important. The whole process can be made even easier with the mobile app (Google Play / App Store ).
Online check-in is available in time:
- 24 hours to 3 hours before departure
If you have paid for your seat selection, you can check-in as early as 30 days before departure.
Don't have a hotel yet? Get a discount at booking.com
On some flights outside the EU, online check-in may not be possible and you will have to go to the airport counter. Last updated list of airports that do not offer online check-in:
In this case, check-in at the airport is free of charge.
Check-in at the airport
You can check in at the airport if you have selected WIZZ Go or WIZZ Plus & Flex tickets or paid for the Airport Check-in service, which costs 13 eur per passenger.
Airport counters open 2 hours before departure and close 40 minutes before departure. Some airports close counters earlier, 1 hour before departure.
We always recommend you arrive at the airport on time as Wizz Air has shared check-in for several flights and you may not be able to check in if there is a queue. This also applies to those who have online check-in and only go to the airport to check in their checked baggage.
Seat selection
When checking in online, you can choose a specific seat for a fee, but if you don't want to pay for this service, you can skip it and have a random seat assigned to you for free .
Beware, however, that Wizz Air will deliberately seat groups of multiple people. If you want to sit together, choose and pay to select specific seats or use Seating Together for 10 eur per person per flight.
If you're travelling with a child , the system won't let you proceed to pay for your ticket without selecting and paying for a seat. When travelling with a child under 14 years of age, you must pay extra to select a minimum of two seats so that the child always sits next to an adult.

I will only have hand luggage with me.
Am I able to transfer between terminals OK with 2 different airlines without the need of a visa or do I need a transit Visa and have to exit Terminal A and check in through Terminal B?
You will need a visa as you are not in transit.
It is nearly always advisable to get your visa before booking your flights .
If you can go through SVO you would be okay without a visa as long as you stay in the International terminal for the duration of the connection but not more than 24 hours: http://www.svo.aero/en/transit/int-int/
Thanks for the info guys - much appreciated 😊

The online check in seems to have been 'closed' after i actually managed to check in for the o/b and download a mobile boarding card. No 'proper' paper boarding card can be downloaded though, or been received by email. It also says i need to go to the check in desk 3 hours before my flight to make sure my boarding card is in order.
Has anyone had this before?

Simple Flying
Destination unknown: wizz air wants passengers to 'get lost' with mystery flight competition.
Lucky winners will depart from London Gatwick for a four-night trip.
- Wizz Air launches campaign for mystery destination flights from London Gatwick. The deadline for applications is February 22.
- Participate through Instagram by liking and commenting with a guess to win a four-night trip from London Gatwick Airport.
- Previous campaigns by airlines like Lufthansa and SAS have also offered flights to mystery destinations.
Wizz Air is launching a campaign for a flight to a mystery destination. The offer will go out to 35 lucky travelers from the UK who will embark on a holiday to an undisclosed destination in Wizz Air's network. The flight will leave from London Gatwick Airport on March 7th for a four-night trip, and it is expected to be full of 'cultural, culinary and adventure activities.’
The #letsgetlostwithwizz campaign is open for application until February 22 via Instagram. To take part, go to the Wizz Air official Instagram account, like the post below, and comment with a guess of the mystery destination and a tag of a friend.
It is one of the many such campaigns Wizz Air has done in the past years. Previous trips from London have included destinations such as Rome. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has also done similar campaigns from the UAE to destinations in Georgia.
Wizz Air Uk Managing Director, Marion Geoffroy, commented about the campaign,
Going on a flight to an unknown destination is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we are pleased to be able to offer this to lucky winners here in the UK! Let’s Get Lost is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our British passengers and we hope to continue serving them as they travel the world and make new memories.
Where could you fly to?
Wizz Air flies to over 70 destinations from the UK, with London Luton being its biggest base of operation. However, as the campaign mentioned that the flight will depart from London Gatwick Airport, we can narrow the possible mystery destination down to 21 destinations that the Wizz Air group serves from the airport.
Wizz Air is a low-cost airline registered in Hungary, but it also has several subsidiaries, namely Wizz Air UK, Wizz Air Malta, and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. Gatwick Airport is served by three of the four airlines in the group from a variety of holiday and business destinations in Europe and Northern Africa.
Wizz Air, with IATA code W6, has the smallest presence in Gatwick, with 13 flights a week to Krakow, Budapest, and Larnaca. Wizz Air Malta (W4), on the other hand, flies to six destinations in the EU, including several cities in Italy and Vienna .
Wizz Air UK (W9), which has a base at Gatwick, has flights to Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, and EU countries, including France and Spain. A total of 12 cities, mostly vacation destinations, are served by Wizz Air UK from Gatwick, including a flight to Istanbul which was launched last year .
All in all, for those who wish to participate in the promotion, an educated guess would likely be a city in one of the above-mentioned European countries, including Spain, France, Italy, Greece, or cities in Egypt and Morocco.
Wizz Air Set To Launch New Airline In Malta
Flights to the unknown.
Flights to unknown destinations are not all that uncommon among airlines to promote their products, especially during off-peak seasons when holiday travel demand is soft.
Recently, SAS launched a 'Destination Unknown' experience for its EuroBonus members to be on a flight to a mystery destination. The experience includes a three-day trip and can only be purchased with EuroBonus points and is reserved for EuroBonus members.
Other carriers, such as Lufthansa and Peach Aviation , have offered similar experiences in the past. In Lufthansa's case, passengers would pick a category (such as Arts & Sights, Party On, or Follow The Sun) and let the airline choose the final destination for them.
Record demand
Wizz Air carried over 60 million passengers last year , and the latest data suggests that Wizz Air carried 4.7 million passengers in the first month of 2024, a 14% year-on-year increase. Wizz Air is expecting an increase in both its passenger and profit level in 2024.
Travel demand has been on the rise while ticket prices remain record high due to the capacity shortage. European carriers, including Wizz Air, are bracing for a record upcoming summer as 817.5 million seats are scheduled by European airlines, according to OAG.
