Enjoy luxurious staterooms, cuisine, and service as you discover the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Fort Lauderdale. Climb, snorkel, swim, bike or chill in some of the world’s most beautiful places.
Eastern Caribbean Cruise Highlights
Lounge on pristine beaches.
It wouldn’t be a Caribbean cruise without dazzling white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and aqua-adventures. In St. Kitts & Nevis, lose track of time at Frigate Bay, a secluded cove where swimming, snorkeling, and marine animal sightings are all part of the fun. In the Dominican Republic, relax on Playa Grande, or discover the immaculate stretch of sand at Cane Garden Bay in Tortola. At every port of call, you’ll have a world-class selection of gorgeous beaches to choose from.
Soak Up History
The fusion of Dutch, Spanish, and local influences add to the captivating quality of the Eastern Caribbean. Explore Fortaleza San Felipe in Puerto Plata, which once protected the city from pirates and looters. Stroll Old San Juan’s colorful cobblestoned streets to be transported back in time, or tour the 16th-century Spanish citadel El Morro, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which casts a watchful eye over the capital city.
Scale New Heights
Embark on a journey up the 99 Steps in Charlotte-Amalie, St. Thomas for breathtaking island views from the top. In St. Kitts and Nevis lies one of the Caribbean’s most popular hikes—an ascent to Mount Liamuiga, a dormant volcano on the west side of the island. For an adventure you’ll never forget, soar over the lush treetops of the islands on an exciting zip line excursion.
Featured Eastern Caribbean Cruise Ports
Philipsburg, st. maarten.
On a cruise to St. Maarten, you’ll discover a rich cultural heritage that fuses Caribbean soul with European charm. Head to Great Bay Beach for watersports like jet skiing, or lounge on the breathtaking Grand Case Beach. Get your adrenaline pumping as you soar over the treetops on a zip line, ride horseback along the coastline, or watch in awe as an airplane descends right over you on Maho Beach.
Charlotte-Amalie, St. Thomas
On the extraordinary island of St. Thomas, escape to the aptly-named Sapphire Beach for a swim, or go on a thrilling boat ride along the half-moon shaped Magens Bay. Discover Charlotte-Amalie on a guided culinary tour and learn how to make rum cocktails and traditional dishes. Explore shipwrecks on an unforgettable scuba diving excursion, or snorkel with sea turtles in a protected national park.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico’s capital is a well-loved destination and one of the most energetic cities in the Caribbean. Wander through the historic, colorful streets of Old San Juan. Swim and snorkel along the beaches of Condado or El Escambrón, where vibrant marine life and coral reefs live. Venture deeper into the island on a journey to El Yunque National Forest, a tropical rainforest with hiking trails and spectacular waterfalls.
Eastern Caribbean Cruise Itineraries
Cruises to the Eastern Caribbean depart from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa, Florida; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Set sail year-round on one of our luxury cruise ships, like Celebrity Edge or Apex. You’ll spend seven to eleven nights in paradise, both on and off the ship.

Avon United Methodist Church spreading peace for Easter: Short Takes on Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville

Avon United Methodist Church is at it again. Spreading hope and peace throughout the community, one handmade cross at a time.

You may remember seeing the beautiful wooden crosses in yards throughout Avon and beyond during the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020. Church volunteers made more than 3,000 crosses which were distributed for free.
“These simple crosses had an impact on people, so much so that community members often shared them with friends and family,” said Micah Holland, church pastor, in an email. “Hope crosses can still be seen throughout communities on the west side of Cleveland, and we know that some were sent as far away as Texas, Connecticut and Minnesota. We were honored to be able to spread hope during the tenuous season of the pandemic.
Last year, some of our friends started asking if we would bring back the Hope crosses, both to replace worn crosses and to give to friends who had not gotten one the first time around. While we were not planning to continue this endeavor, especially as the pandemic faded, we sensed that another cross project could be helpful to our community.”
In response to the calling to share their message of hope, church volunteers came together last weekend to make nearly 500 wooden Peace crosses for the Easter holy season.

Why switch from Hope to Peace on the crosses?
“As our country has grown increasingly divided and filled with tension, we hope that a clear message of God’s peace will help calm hearts and bring unity to our community,” said Holland. “In the scriptures, Peace means harmony, and our prayer is that the Peace of God will overtake the disharmony that surrounds us.”
The free Peace crosses (limit two, please) will be set out in the front lawn of the church at 9 a.m. March 24 (Palm Sunday), 37711 Detroit Road.
“They are simply a gift from us to you, and we hope they are a blessing to all who receive them,” said Holland. “You may wish to seal your cross, to keep it fresh longer, as they do not come sealed. Our simple desire, in our Peace cross project, is that these crosses are a visible sign of God’s peace to our wider community, and we pray that their presence encourages your spiritual journey.”

Gas station coming, planning commission items: As the Nagel Road area north of Detroit Road continues to be built up, another business is going through the city’s planning approval process. Representatives from Circle K are requesting approval from the city to rezone the northwest corner of Nagel and Detroit roads, from the white house with the porch across from Drug Mart to the Detroit Road intersection, from R1 (residential) to C2 (commercial) to construct a gas station. Reminder for those who may not know...gas stations are only permitted north of Detroit Road in Avon.
Planning commission members are also set to approve (meeting is March 20) a Special Use permit for the future home of Kirschenbaum Family Memorial Park on Detroit Road. According to Pam Fechter, Avon’s planning and economic development coordinator, it’s the property, minus the commercial piece at Detroit Road near Avon Place (Good Samaritan) skilled nursing facility, on the north side of the road.
“This is a passive park, and no roadways are planned on the property,” she said. “I believe the goal is walking paths on the property.”
The city acquired approximately 27 acres of land from the Koosh Enterprises, LLC and Amy Johnson, successor trustee of the Agreement and Declaration of Trust, David Kirschenbaum, trustee located on Detroit Road for use as a public park which passed on October 24, 2022. In the ordinance, the family was acknowledged for their willingness to allow the city to purchase the property to preserve park land and officially name the park the Kirschenbaum Family Memorial Park.
Another park item on the agenda for Planning Commission’s approval is the Traxler Family Arboretum on Stoney Ridge Road across from the Avon Early Learning Center. The Special Use Permit includes plans to construct, operate and maintain an arboretum with walking trails, seating, fencing and restrooms.
Upcoming Avon Branch library events: Classical guitarist and Oberlin Conservatory student, Suvan Agarwal, will showcase his talents at 6 p.m. March 27 at the library, 37485 Harvest Drive.
Join representatives from the Lorain County Metro Parks as they explore a variety of native wildlife and habitats found throughout Ohio from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 29 at the library. Attendees will receive hands-on experience with natural artifacts such as skulls, bones, feathers, pelts and more from the wildlife in our area.
Looking for a job? A Job Search Workshop will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 3 at the library.
Pre-registration is required for the events, go to LorainPublicLibrary.org/programs .
Shout out: Big thanks to the Avon Montessori Academy for their efforts in collecting food for the Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS) food pantry. The school community came together to make a huge difference as they collected 400 pounds of food.
Palm Sunday musical performance: The TrueNorth Chorale and Chamber Orchestra will present René Clausen’s A New Creation at 3 p.m. March 24 (Palm Sunday) at Avon Lake Presbyterian Church, 32340 Electric Blvd. The event is free, however a ‘love offering’ donation will be taken to help defray concert expenses.
The various movements in A New Creation are attempts to characterize, through music, various aspects of the human/God, and the God/human relationship, according to information submitted in the press release.
The TrueNorth season continues May 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church as TrueNorth presents A Concert of Peace featuring Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem.
New resident resource: Are you new to Avon Lake? Whether you are new to Avon Lake or looking for a quick resource, a new page has been created on the city’s website complete with a list of frequently asked questions and other helpful links. For more information, go to avonlake.org/our-community/new-residents .
Blood drive: The American Red Cross is hosting a Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 at the Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Electric Blvd. To sign up, go to redcrossblood.org .
Shout out: Seven people (four Service Department employees and three Tree Commission members) recently attended the Ohio Chapter of International Society of Arboriculture’s North Coast Urban Forestry Conference - the largest forestry conference in the United States. At this conference, a variety of topics were covered that are applicable to Avon Lake’s landscape including: Biodiversity; difference between non-native, invasive, and non-invasive trees; planting trees to survive and thrive in the future when there may be more/less rain or hotter/colder weather conditions than presently experienced in the urban forest; tree injury, disease, and fungus cankers; and the benefits of planting trees- 15% energy savings and 20% property value increase. The city is also proud of the Public Works employees who are working on their International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) arborists certifications.
NORTH RIDGEVILLE

More floral than you can possibly handle.
Call me old-fashioned, but the annual hunt for my family’s Easter Sunday attire is one of my favorite pastimes. Give me all of the smocks, frocks, and frills. Just cover the kids in pastel plaid bunnies and call it a day, I say. Shopping for the perfect Easter outfit sparks joy for me in a way that not many other activities do. This list of Easter 2024 dresses for women is filled with options that are honestly perfect for wearing all spring and summer long.
The Easter dress I pick this year will definitely wind up smeared with deviled egg filling and have pockets jam-packed with plastic egg halves and candy wrappers. It will be comfortable above all else, but it will also be beautiful — something cheery and pretty that I’ll look back on in photos of family picnics and brunch snapshots years from now and smile about.
On trend for 2024, there are plenty of puff sleeves, shirt dresses, swingy styles, and splashy colors to adore. Of course, there are also a few traditional picks that are light and floaty with plenty of ruffles and more floral prints than you’ll know what to do with. (But honestly, isn’t that part of what makes spring dress shopping so much fun?) Go ahead and get carried away!
Flower Power Fit & Flare Dress
Doesn’t this dress make you want to go frolic in a field? It would look adorable paired with heels for church on Easter Sunday, but is just easy to dress down with sandals or flats as well. Naturally, the pockets are exactly what you need to stash the candy your kids drop on the ground while they’re hunting eggs.
A Flirty Floral Frock
If you’re looking for a break from ruffles and skirts-for-spinning-in this Easter, this pretty number from Target is a fantastic choice. The lightweight crepe material is just fitted enough without being tight, and the deep pink and red hues of the floral pattern really pop against a white background.
Super Sweet In Sage
Looking for the sweetest possible mommy and me dresses for Easter? Look no further. Whether you’re pregnant, nursing, or just a mom who wants to match with her mini, this floral maxi dress is such a cute and comfortable option. Coordinating pieces for your little are available in a bubble romper for babies and a ruffle-sleeved dress for sizes 2T to 5T.
Smocking For Grown Ups
If you want to look egg-stra cute for Easter, a smocked dress is where it’s at. This midi-length dress has a slightly stretchy smocked top with flutter sleeves and a comfortable tiered skirt. It’s available in a variety of colors, but this bright teal is super trendy and easy to accessorize for both spring and summer.
A Colorful Midi Dress
Easter chic is where comfort meets style — which is exactly what you get with this beautiful Briton Court dress . The fit is flowy and soft, but the print is bright and will really pop against a spring green lawn dotted with colorful eggs. Best of all, there’s an adorable coordinating dress for girls available in youth sizes 2 to 12 if you’re planning matching family outfits.
Cute, Cotton, & Keyhole Details
Ready to finally wear white again? The keyhole opening in the front of this Target dress is the kind of feminine detail that’s just flirty enough without being too revealing to wear in front of your grandparents at an Easter lunch with your family. Plus, it’s made from a 99% cotton 1% spandex material with a 100% cotton liner, so it’s lightweight enough to wear all summer long.
Mad About Magenta
This midi dress has a trendy silhouette that’s great for all stages of pregnancy and postpartum wear. Made from 100% cotton, it’s breezy and comfy, so you’ll stay cool while looking absolutely gorgeous during all of your family’s Easter events.
Spring In Bloom
I just love how soft and pretty this maxi dress is. The ruffle detail around the knees and single ruffle tier adds just the right amount of frill without going overboard. With a removable waist tie, you can customize the fit, so this could potentially be worn when you’re pregnant, but is also a great option for postpartum moms this Easter. As part of Splendid’s Mommy & Me line, there are also matching toddler and infant sets available for your littles.
A Delightfuly Denim-Adjacent Dress
The laid-back look of this breezy and cool linen blend dress is perfect for a casual brunch with your girlfriends, an Easter picnic, or any number of outdoor spring activities. If you prefer a bit more coverage, pair it with a white denim jacket or even a cute cardigan and heels to dress it up some.
Spring Green, But Make It Floral
In this dress , you’ll look floral and fancy for all of your Easter activities. The wrap design gives you a comfortable fit, but the ruffle makes it just snazzy enough to impress your mother-in-law. Basically, you’ll look like you’re headed to a garden party in the best way.
Peachy Keen With Puffy Sleeves
A super on-trend silhouette that’s also ridiculously comfortable and easy to wear? Yes, please! Not to mention, this flowy smocked-waist number is pretty much the same shade as the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year — peach fuzz. You’re going to want to wear this for every single event on your calendar from Easter to Labor Day.
Lovely In Lavender
It’s really hard not to make a “Lavender Haze” reference here, but I just wanna stay... in this dress because it’s so gorgeous. With the button-down design, you could easily breastfeed if you need to, plus the belt is removable. So you can wear it beltless for a more relaxed look that’s cooler than a spring breeze, but also ideal for summer.
Pockets For Days
Is it just me, or is this not the chicest thing one could possibly wear while hunting eggs and not look out of place in a yard full of toddler toys? This dress looks like I want to spin around in it and pretend I’m floating on a cloud as it falls around me… or that I could stuff 1,000 eggs into the pockets. Either way, it’s what you’ll find me in all spring and summer long for the next 20 years because it really is that dreamy.
Nice For Nursing
Designed specifically for nursing moms, this chiffon dress from H&M is ideal for every single Easter activity on your list, from egg-hunting to church services and everything in between. It has such a beautiful pastel floral print and the ruffle detailing around the neckline paired with butterfly sleeves gives it a really soft look.
Spring Puff Sleeves To Sing About
This spring, it’s all about smocking, puff sleeves, and tiered skirts — and this majestic magenta dress checks every single box. It’s bright and bold, but not so fussy that you can’t chase your kids around in it.
Light & Airy Ruffles
This light and airy maxi dress looks like it was made for twirling. It strikes exactly the right balance between frills and florals for picturesque family Easter photos. The off-the-shoulder design is also perfectly summery, so you’re sure to get plenty of mileage out of this dress.
Maximum Gingham
Did you think you would get through this whole list without seeing at least one gingham print dress ? Well, then you thought wrong because here it is. The most classic blue gingham maxi dress with ruffles — an Easter dream.
Precious In Poppy Print
It’s hard to find a Draper James dress that doesn’t look like it belongs on the front cover of a magazine called “Perfect Spring Dresses,” but this one is truly precious. The tiered skirt, the ruffle sleeves, and the bright blue poppies against a light yellow background with green details come together like spring personified.
A Bow That’s *Just* Big Enough
I like big bows and I cannot lie — but a gigantic bow front and center on a grown-up Easter dress isn’t exactly the vibe. However, the appropriately-sized bow on this fashion-forward geometric print shirt dress is actually a really chic look. Because it buttons all the way down the front, you could also potentially breastfeed in it if you need to.
A Bright Tunic Dress With Sun Coverage
This dress is so fun and eye-catching. I want to wear it while my kids argue over jellybeans and pretend I’m at a seaside resort instead of in my backyard. The price tag means it’s an investment, but the UPF 50 fabric means it’s perfect for wearing outside all spring and summer long.
Geometric Glamour
Not only is this 2-in-1 style great for moms who are expecting or nursing this Easter season, but it would also make a gorgeous choice for a baby shower, giving you a bit more bang for your buck. The geometric print gives this dress a fashion-forward feel, but the ultra-soft knit top and pleated swing skirt will keep you and your bump nice and comfy while you hunt for eggs.
No matter which style you choose, these pretty Easter dresses will take you from spring to summer effortlessly. Wearing one of these comfortable silhouettes in fun florals with flirty details, you’re going to love looking back at yourself in photos from this season.

When double demerits start in each state this Easter long weekend
The Easter long weekend is fast approaching and that means bigger penalties for motorists in most states.
Aussies set for whopping $272m Uber payout
Chaos as car crashes inside Westfield
17yo learner clocks 170km/h in wild chase
Australians are counting the days to the Easter long weekend, with thousands of Aussies expected to hit the road for a short getaway or to be with loved ones for the holiday.
There is less than two weeks to go before the Good Friday public holiday and police are getting in early to remind drivers to stay vigilant on their roadtrips.
Over the Australia Day long weekend in January, police issued more than 3600 speeding fines, charged 244 people with drink-driving and attended 302 major crashes, resulting in 110 people injured - just in NSW alone.
In an attempt to discourage unsafe driving and reduce the rate of serious crashes on the nation’s roads, NSW, WA, Queensland and the ACT all deliver double demerits for the duration of the long weekend period.
Here’s what penalties will be in place in each state over the long weekend.
NSW, WA and the ACT
Double demerits will kick in from Thursday March 28 to Monday April 1 in NSW, Western Australia and the ACT.
It will apply to all speeding offences, mobile phone offences, not wearing seatbelt and riding a motorbike without a helmet.
Anyone caught commiting one of these offences will have double the amount of demerit points taken off their licence and could also face a hefty fine.
In the sunshine state, demerit points are not specific to public holiday periods, but are implemented year round for certain offences.
For example, anyone who commits two road offences within 12 months of each other could lose double the points.
The driver has to record 12 months without receiving a traffic offence for the demerit point system to reset.
Victoria, SA, NT and Tasmania
All other states and territories are free from double demerits. However, drivers are urged take extra care as more police patrols will be in place over the long weekend.
Uber is set to pay Aussie taxi drivers an eye-watering $272 million in a historic world-first class action settlement.
Two people are in hospital after an electric vehicle crashed into a Myer store at a major city shopping centre.
A 17-year-old learner driver has been charged after he sparked a high-speed police pursuit, including speeds of up to 170km/h.
