Playing With Fire

My No BS Review of RSD (Real Social Dynamics)

I wanted to make this post for two reasons. One is because I get asked this question quite often in various forms: What do I think about this RSD instructor? What do I think about this RSD product? Is it worth to take their boot camp? So here is my honest opinion about them – the good, the mixed, and the bad. Secondly, just like its important “to give credit where credit is due”, it is also important to call out bad/incorrect information. At the end of the day, RSD is a for-profit- business whose primary goal isn’t to maximize your success with women but to maximize their profit. Sometimes those two go hand in hand, and sometimes they conflict.

In the interest of full transparency, I will share my limited background and experience with RSD. Like a lot of people, I heard about them and the PUA community in general after reading Neil Strauss’s “The Game” around late 2012. In case you haven’t read the book, in it Owen Cook, i.e “Tyler Durden” (one of the two founders of RSD) is portrayed negatively as a dorky asshole. Around summer of 2013, I moved to Los Angeles. I only knew a few people there and wanted to meet other guys to go out and pickup girls with. I heard that “Tyler” was doing a speech at someone’s house and I decided to go. My expectations were extremely low. I expected him to be annoying, dorky, and a shitty person (like in the book). However, I was quite surprised.  That night Tyler appeared inspiring, passionate, and quite down to earth.

I was impressed and joined the local RSD Facebook group. Through there I wound up meeting a lot of cool people, some of which are my closest friends to this day. In addition, I started attending the RSD “Free tour” events and watching some of their free YouTube content. I was never a die-hard fanboy but definitely sipped from the Kool-aid quite a bit. I even had a picture of Julien on my dream board (let no one say I’m not transparent).

During this time period, I spent pretty much every single day going out and trying to pick up girls. Cold approach pick-up is the only area of my life I focused on improving in. I bought into the sales pitch “looks don’t matter” so I didn’t pay attention to health, career, or lifestyle. I ran up my credit card debt and never hit the gym. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t a “bad period”, my overall results with women improved. In addition, I started eating healthy and learned to meet women without alcohol. Nevertheless, my ROI (Return on Time) was horrible.  I was doing cold approach pickup as if it was my job, yet I would sleep with 1-3 new girls a month. Most of whom were average looking.

Near the end of 2014, “JulienGate” happened.

In case you are not familiar, one of the RSD instructors, Julien, put up a few “Racy” videos on YouTube and the Main Stream media made a big deal out of it, causing him to get banned from a few countries and creating a “scandal”. I followed the news closely and was both surprised & disgusted. I felt bad for Julien, he didn’t deserve this. His videos and comments were taken out of context and used by the media to push their own agenda. However, that is to be expected. The part that surprised me was how Julien and the rest of RSD did not stand up for themselves AT ALL. They just kept their mouth shut the whole time and a few months later Julien went on CNN and apologized.

I thought this was extremely lame,  Why not stand up for your employees when most of the things being said about them are horribly wrong and even slanderous? This made no sense to me. Now, I realize that this was obviously a calculated business decision done to minimize potential lost profits. The guys who run RSD, “Tyler” and “Papa” didn’t care about doing what was “right”. They just wanted to avoid the potential of more lost revenues. I use the word “potential” because I don’t think they ultimately would’ve even lost any revenue….if they just owned this whole thing and changed their strategy to capture all the free publicity. However, that is a different debate

To me This felt like “selling out”.

A few months later, I also started noticing a change in RSD’s content. Their almost daily videos, which I previously used to love, now started feeling watered down. Its like they were trying to avoid saying anything that could have a potential to be misinterpreted (which unfortunately is most of pick up) and were just putting out safe fluff content. In addition, their “Free tours” started to significantly decline in quality. They started to feel like a giant timeshare presentation. Previously (2015 and prior), the Free Tours were 1-2 hours of unfiltered free value and 15 minutes of the “Sales pitch”. However, now they have become the opposite. Twenty to thirty minutes of carefully cherry-picked “value” and an hour worth of “sales pitch”…Not fun!

Around this period, in my life (summer of 2015), I had started to discover other pickup and self-improvement content and began to realize the importance of other aspects of a man’s life asides from doing cold approach pick-up. I had also realized that a lot of the stuff, I had learned from RSD was incorrect or superfluous. I started spending less time running around bars and more time meeting women in my day-to-day life and online (better ROI). This left me with more time to read books, hit the gym, focus on health, and get my career in order.

As a result, during the past two years, the quality of my life has improved by every metric I can think of. I have made more money, traveled to more countries, and gotten in better shape than ever before. My actual results with women are significantly better as well. I am not as good at “night game” as I used to be. Yes, if you go out to a bar with me now you will probably be less impressed with my “skills” than you would’ve been a few years ago. However, I also sleep with A LOT more women, who are on average a lot more attractive. That’s good enough for me.

I started “Playing with Fire” about six months ago and this has given me even more perspective on the pickup community and RSD specifically. It’s not that big of a club and all the coaches are at most one or two degrees of separation apart. As a direct result of this website and Facebook group, I have been able to meet some of the top guys in the Game and gain access to a lot of behind the scenes information that few people publicly write about. I am not the first to come out with a post like this, here is one I read a few weeks ago that I pretty much 100% agree with. However, this type of stuff is rarely talked about objectively. Instead, people either completely bash pick-up/pick-up companies… or become giant fanboys, without the ability to separate internet marketing from the truth. There is a middle ground and every company or “guru” has a completely different level of integrity when it comes to “selling you”.

RSD overview

As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, RSD’s is a for-profit company whose main goal is maximizing their earnings. They are also extremely good at internet marketing and getting people to “buy into them”. I will give them full credit for this. However, as any salesman will tell you (I did sales for two years for a variety of companies), getting the sale and telling you the truth/helping you don’t always go hand in hand. Depending on the product, needs of the person in question, and a bunch of other factors this schism could be minimal or it could be huge. Nevertheless, the point is to see RSD as a business entity with their own interests…. not as some kind of father figure, who truly cares about helping you succeed.

Let’s start with the good. I am sure, I will miss some stuff here (partially not my fault since they put out a new piece of content every minute), going to try to call out the big ones.

  • “Don’t Blame others and take Responsibility”  – This one is huge and extremely important to being successful with women. The Manosphere community gets close to zero pussy because they are bitter and blame women for everything… “She didn’t want to have sex…Must be feminism…Can’t be anything I could’ve done better”… That is a horrible approach to take if you care about getting laid or even being happy in life. Instead, it is better to understand the way things really work and assume personal responsibility for everything that is within your control. RSD has always been very good on this issue and provided the counter-balance to the Victim-mindset based thinking I see quite often in the Manosphere community. However, you can also see how this is a case where the truth perfectly aligns with the marketing. If you are convinced women are the problem, and that the sexual marketplace is hopeless, you are not going to see a need for a product on improving your skills with these women.
  • “Be present to the moment” – This is also huge. Many guys who haven’t had much experience interacting with women become paranoid about doing something wrong and their mind is all over the place during their interaction with women. Ironically, this significantly increases their chance of actually doing something wrong and getting rejected. The right approach when interacting with women is to trust your instincts, relax, and be present to the moment. Then after its over (successfully or not), you analyze what you did right and what you could’ve done better. RSD gets this one right.
  • “Be Nonreactive”- A lot of women will throw you “shit-tests” before sleeping with you. A girl might test you once or twice, or she might test you all night. It depends on your personality and the girl in question. However, most women will test you in one way or another at some point throughout the interaction. When this happens, the right move is to not let it affect you and remain nonreactive. RSD gets this one right as well.
  • “You are never a finished product” – This has been a popular concept in the self-help community for a while. However, I will give RSD credit for bringing it into Pickup. The truth is you can always improve your skills with women. There is always someone who is doing something better then you…who you can and should try to learn from. The guys who stagnate, and thus never improve, are the guys who think they “already know it all” and let their egos stop them from continually improving. That is what happened with Mystery (from The Game). He stopped evolving in 2003 and as a result, has gone from being one of the best in the community to largely irrelevant.
  • “Meditate” – Meditating for 10-20 minutes every day is one of the many things that will overall improve your success with women and the quality of your life in general. Tyler is huge on this one. In fact, I didn’t really get into meditation until I got into RSD. Full credit to RSD on this one. Teaching guys the benefits of meditation isn’t going to make them buy pick up products, but its also not going to lose any sales. No schism here.
  • “Eat Healthily” – This one isn’t directly taught by RSD, but it is referenced so often by Tyler that I will give them credit as well. If you eat a clean healthy diet your brain chemistry will work better and you will have more energy, motivation, and mental capacity to be successful with women. Personally, I have been following a very clean Paleo Diet for the past four years. I know some top pick up guys who are a lot better with women than me, yet eat like shit. Like meditation, It is not a requirement. Nevertheless, I am personally a big proponent of eating healthy. Not only is it very likely to improve your results with women, but it is also guaranteed to improve the overall quality of your life.
  • Read – Also, not rocket science and quite popular advice in the self-help community. However, I will give RSD Tyler credit for pushing it into pickup. Reading will not directly get you laid, but it will help you be more successful in life, which in turn will attract more women and help you get laid.
  • “Take Massive Action” – This is one of the RSD concepts that can help or hurt. The average person spends the majority of their day talking about and then rationalizing not doing the things that they know they need to do (go to the gym, improve with women, etc). RSD consistently preaches to stop making excuses and take action. This is right… as long as the action you take is “ correct action ”. However, if you take massive amounts of “ the wrong action ” you can actually set yourself back. Let’s take putting on muscle mass as an example. You can hit the gym twice a day (taking massive action), but if you fail to increase the amount of resistance on your key lifts, you will not put on mass. After a few months of not seeing results, you might get discouraged and come to believe “you will always stay skinny” … or even worse, you can get injured from poor form and overtraining. The same thing applies to pickup. I see too many RSD guys run around clubs doing 100s of approaches, yet getting close to no results. They are taking massive action, but clearly do something wrong along the way, because they are failing to get laid. despite the numbers being in their favor. For a lot of these guys, now that they have gotten past the “approach anxiety” stage, the right strategy is not to “take more action”, but to be more strategic and analyze what they are doing wrong instead of taking more wrong action.
  • “Openers don’t matter” – The simple truth is, as long as you don’t say something weird or “overly-gamey”, the exact words you use to open a girl are fairly irrelevant. She is paying much more attention to your body language, tonality, eye contact, vibe, and of course your Sexual Market Value. My favorite opener for night game is “Hey, Im Alex”…. RSD talks about this, yet I see so many of their fan boys run around saying the weirdest, most gimmicky shit and getting blown out as a result, time after time. Why does this happen? I think certainly a big part of the problem is that RSD puts out videos where one of their instructors says something fancy or crazy and it works. The truth is this – it worked despite the weird opener, not because of it. However, that opener made for much better marketing so they put that in the video over the 10 normal ones they shot.
  • “The importance of Self-Amusement”. There is definitely and element of truth here. For guys, who are too serious or logical (a good portion of men getting into pickup), learning to self-amuse and have a little fun is going to increase their success with women. No doubt about it. However, I see this concept getting misinterpreted and blown out of proportion, more often then not. Often times, the rsd-fan boys run around acting ridiculous and weirding out every girl they talk to, thinking that this is how you get laid. It’s not. Not at all. Personally, I was never that bad, per-se, but definitely was not one of the people who wound up benefiting from “learning to self-amuse”. I was already relying on humor too much. Instead, I needed to focus on recognizing social cues and being more grounded/dominant/sexual. When I improved in those areas is when I started to get laid more.
  • “Looks don’t matter” – This is pure nonsense. The truth is your results interacting with women will be determined mainly by a combination of your Sexual Market Value (Looks, Money, Fashion, Status), Game (ability to communicate this value) and Persistence (number of approaches and time spent interacting with women). However, that is a much harder sales pitch. If a guy is convinced that its his looks that are holding him back, telling him that he is probably partially right is going to make it a lot harder to get him to buy your latest game-knowledge product. Instead, if your goal is to maximize your sales and profit, its better to keep things simple (big rule in sales) and tell him that he is wrong, and that his looks don’t matter, and that the problem is in his inner/outer game. Unfortunately, for a majority of people this is a disservice. This is because your “looks” are largely within your control. Every man can increase their Sexual Market Value, at least a few points by putting on more lean muscle, reaching a low body fat, and dressing better. However, if you are convinced that “looks don’t matter”, then you’ll be much less likely to bother.
  • “Focus on the Process, not the results” – This is mostly internet marketing as well. If a large portion of your customers are running around like jackasses and not getting laid, you certainly don’t want them to focus on the results. That will lead to dissatisfaction and refund requests. Instead, it is better to convince them to “trust in the process” and that the results “will eventually follow”. Let’s take my “getting jacked” analogy. If you have gone to the gym for a few months, but you haven’t seen a noticeable improvement in your physique – then you are doing something wrong. In truth, you want to focus on both the Process and the Results. Why? Because if you are not getting results then the process is clearly wrong
  • “RSD infield is largely marketing” – Yes, I have heard numerous accounts of RSD actually faking infield by hiring actresses. However, since I personally don’t know this to be true, I am not going to go there. What I can say with a certainty is they edit, cut, and show their videos in a very deceptive way. They want you to think that in each video the respective instructor got laid. However, the flat truth is that most of their “pulls” do not result in sex. In fact, most of the time, if they had kept the video going a minute longer, you would’ve seen them get blown out.
  • “They are very cultish” – This is the part of RSD few people see. However, if you post anything in any of their forums or Facebook groups that do not “toe the company line” you will most likely get banned without a warning and your post will get purged. There is no free exchange of ideas, significant discussion of different viewpoints, or room for criticism (god forbid). Anything and anyone that has the potential to interfere with profits is censored or removed. At any of their live events, even if you are a paying client, if you express a different viewpoint, more often then not you will be shamed into silence with some vague markety catchphrase. There is moderating to keep a healthy constructive community and then there is what RSD does.
  • “They treat their employees/customers like shit” – A few of their former employees have come out and spoken out about this publicly. The most recent casualty was RSD Todd, who wanted to negotiate a better deal on his commission. He had been with the company for over 10 years and was getting tired of making a small percentage for the work he did (rightfully so). Since starting the website and getting “into the industry”, I have also met numerous of their ex-employees who privately shared some very crappy things that RSD does. Lets take refunds for instance. RSD advertises a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. However, I have yet to meet a person who successfully got their money back after being dissatisfied with a boot-camp. Instead, the company policy seems to be to find any detail that can be used to blame the customer and say that this action violated their guarantee. I can make a whole post just on this point, but hopefully, this text exchange between my friend and RSD Jeffy (one of the instructors), summarizes everything…. Great customer service, man!

RSD Jeffy

6. “They water down their content” – The flat truth of it getting good at sleeping with tons of women is not always PC. In fact, it can often be very controversial to someone who is not “red-pill”. This controversy can cause media backlash and potential lost profits. As a pickup company, you often have to make a choice between giving guys the raw truth and maximizing your profits. RSD used to be pretty decent in this department. However, in the past few years (most noticeably after Julien-gate), they have consistently been watering down all their advice. I’ll give an example:  I don’t teach night game because it is something I don’t consider myself an expert in. Far from it!  However, if I did, I would tell all my clients to look for women who are out by themselves. It may sound kind of creepy, but its the right advice. Women who are out by themselves are much more likely to be looking to go home with a stranger. Furthermore, there is no chance of getting cock-blocked by a friend or the girl being too afraid to act out her desires because of social pressure. Every guy who gets laid a lot from night game knows this fact. Yet, I have never heard RSD even hint at it.

7. “Their products are largely bullshit” – Let’s be real. How many Game products can you make while still giving new valuable information each time? If you are RSD, it is apparently around one every month. It is impossible to release even close to this many products and still have them be full of new valuable information. Instead, it is mostly recycled superfluous information, with a number of accompanying and largely deceptive infield.

8. “They allow the blind to lead the blind” – The main problem with the RSD forums is that all the attention from the people who are in a “place of authority” is being spent on censoring anything that interferes with profits, instead of actually trying to give the right information. As a result, they have become a place where “the blind lead the blind”, full of erroneous and often quite comical information. There is a balance here, you can focus on both as I and many other groups have done. However, RSD doesn’t.

My goal with this article was to try to be as objective as possible and give you my honest opinion, the way I see things after being in the game for 4+ years and recently getting “into the industry”. As people, I have varying levels of respect for each one of instructors, ranging from none to a lot. As a company, I admire aspects of what they’ve done (especially the marketing), but if any of my friends asked me, my simple and honest answer would be “stay away man”.

A big thing, I’ve noticed with hardcore RSD fans is that their actual results with women stagnate or even get worse over time…until they eventually burn out. They become way too focused on each product and point that they never really learn. They treat the  mostly superfluous theories like doctrine. This ultimately hinders them. The guys who get good don’t worship pickup companies or instructors. They  take what they want, what helps them and move on.

DAYS OF GAME

A dream: rsd free tour review.

I had a dream I went to an RSD Free Tour Event. Any similarity to actual events is purely a coincidence. This is a piece of creative writing and is in no way based on reality. I’m a complete fool and everything I say is madness. Everyone knows it.

With that said, here is an account of that dream:

————————

Ugggg. That was so painful.

Julian is a very smart guy. I’ve studied some of his Pimp product. And his 10 Game product. Excellent content. I quote him sometimes. I think he is clearly one of the best minds in game. We have all seen infield footage of the guy and he kills it. He’s a monster — and I mean that in a good way. I think he is worth modeling as you try to develop your mindset. And yet…

I “recently” walked out of his free talk. I was thinking of “social freedom” as I thought of how to leave… I waited until someone asked a question and I split. I wish I had walked out earlier.

The talk was an unorganized “giggle fest.” A complete waste of time. And after looking up to the guy in the way I do, it was surreal to be in front of him and have those thoughts running through my head, “why am I here?”

I know he has to do these talks all the time. And it’s unrealistic to expect miracles even at a premium, let alone for free. But a basic overview of his most generic points would have 1000% more value than what went on in that room. And I just got the text from RSD asking if I’m ready to sign up for his upcoming paid program… I can’t imagine who would want more after his “free talk.” You’d have to go on pure faith from what you know he has done in the past.

Want to see Julian drop real value:

“Fun, carefree, passion.” — RSD Julian

^ I read this in an internet forum somewhere. That is simple, but excellent content. If you can imagine Julian talking about those points… you would have something worth a good listen.

I’d highly recommend you check out RSD’s Pimp Game product. Unlike what I saw at the event, that product is really good.

I know this post isn’t “bringing good emotions.” And RSD taught me that concept, too — I think it was Julian himself. But this is a “the emperor has no clothes” moment. I won’t disclose any info from that talk (save you the pain), but let’s say, it essentially had no value to me. And a room full of guys giggled and cheered him on. I’m genuinely curious about what those guys were getting out of that talk.

My friend The Cigar was recently booted out of an RSD forum. He said it was “a cult.” And I agreed, but in a mostly positive way… dudes really want to get laid. RSD can absolutely help you do that. Of course they have a cult-like following… in many ways, I am part of it. But this talk was not about learning about girls. It was about being in a cult. It was about getting a moment in front of a cult leader. And the giggle-boys were loving it. And it was sad and boring.

Yuck. It’s so much more honest and real to be out of that room. I wonder if anyone else was thinking that? I wonder if anyone else left?

I’ll take this moment to double down on my love for RSD, and everything I’ve learned from them — mostly from Tyler, but even Tim, Ozzy, Todd, Max, Jeffy, etc. Genius moments from all of them… based on the very real experience they all have as players, and their expertise in explaining what they have earned. I am grateful. I’ve been studying Tyler’s Hotseat at Home , and it’s full of genius moments. Blueprint, which like this talk starts off a bit retarded, but goes on to be a masterful product. I think about it all the time, and I know many men that quote Tyler from that product. Full “yes” for RSD. Triple “yes” for Tyler.

But I wish I could get the last hour of my life back.

When we’re talking about quality and real value, here’s another nod at Krauser. And his level of organization and professionalism. The value of the content he brings , even to a “ free talk .” Another “yes” for Krauser.

Being organized is masculine. Structure is masculine. Chaos and giggles… I’d put that on the feminine end of the spectrum. But I guess if you’re focused on nightgame and scatter-brained party girls, if that’s the world you’re in every night, maybe that’s what you need? That kind of justification feels like a generous read of what I saw.

And to Krauser again, for his work with the concept of Sigma . If Julian was “alpha” tonight — and he was alpha because of the pack of fan boys made him so — Sigma is knowing that being a part of that particular hierarchy is to tool yourself. Maybe that’s THE thing I learned from that talk. Sigma is about knowing that “being at the ‘in’ spot” is often a circle-jerk. A type of “golden cage.” Going it alone may mean you don’t have the company of the “ship of fools,” but you’re likely better off that way. There was a lot of metaphorical moments as I watched those guys snicker and worship emptiness.

So much of life is like that. Like pedestalizing a “paper hottie” because she meets some false-standard, that in real life is certainly not worth chasing. As bluepill as anything else.

Julian went from hero to “paper hero” in that talk. I know he’s more than that… but that was the impression.

And the herd was loving it… I guess they loved it for the opportunity to see themselves reflected back in each other’s faces. Pukey cult stuff.

I love the camaraderie of game. The forums where we help each other. All the excellent videos , blogs and comments . That’s how we show each other “the light.” This was the dark side of all that. It was like sitting in locker room watching a an inane sitcom. Terrible company and shit content.

I was very much ready to sign up for the next Hotseat. I think I’ll still do it, but probably not if it’s Julian. This talk was the opposite of good marketing.

That’s too bad. Too bad for RSD. And too bad for me to have to witness that.

…………………………………..

And then I woke up, and realized while there may be some truth-like moments in the complete and utter fiction above… it was just a dream. Some nonsense in my head… and nothing more.

I hope next time I dream of something more interesting.

For now… I’ve almost already forgotten it… what? I can’t even remember.

Viva daygame.

Nice dream. Is Krauser still your favorite for Daygame? I’m always curious your opinion as you cover a lot of material.

It was a terrible dream. Glad it’s over. : ]

>> Is Krauser still your favorite for Daygame?

Yeah. I don’t see that changing. He’s one of my favorite minds in game… even beyond daygame, I think he really understands mating/dating… particularly if you want to be bachelor, but most of what he talks about in terms of theory would be true in an LTR as well.

Check this series out… very good. I listened to it again last night as I wrote this post.

But you don’t have to pick a favorite… study them all. I really like Paul Janka as well. Tom’s Badass Buddha is a good product, and his two books (Daygame and Travels) are excellent. I’ve studied Yad. Jon Matrix Effortless is a very good product. The Daygame.com conference is good. Yad’s footage in Toronto is good to see. I think I spelled a lot of this out in my Notes for Beginner Daygamers.

Beyond those guys, I like Tyler (obviously), Braddock from Lovesystems, Jared Psych was an interesting guy to study. I liked Nick Sparks (T21C) quite a bit. I mentioned Sinn recently… I really like him. I linked to Jason Savage’s talk in the post above. And of course, Lance Mason…

Lance and Tyler and Krauser… if I had to pick three… they are the smartest guys in game, for my interests.

Well… ^ them, and Yohami. Yohami is fucking excellent. Super rich thinker… he is as good as I’ve ever heard. We are really lucky to see his comments here. I’m sure Lance/Tyler/Krauser would respect Yohami’s POV.

But study everyone… I’m sure there are smarter guys out there… in the history of the world… some Casanova… but I haven’t found anyone better than those guys.

I hear you. Between work and making money, hobbies, investments, travel, current women and all other things in life I don’t have as much time. I prefer to pick one and focus which is why I asked as someone that doesn’t have as much time as you.

I know there are many to study. I feel they are all good as you mentioned. I do know Paul Janka and some Lance and prefer what little I know of Krauser. I actually like Tom too.

I was hoping to narrow it down to one for daygame. I think I will pick Krauser as you could spend months just reviewing his content. And most likely a year using it …at least.

Nash: “Study everyone.”

Supertramp: “I don’t have as much time. I think I will pick Krauser.”

Rivelino: “I think for beginners and intermediates, Tom is the best.”

Rivelino: “I think for beginners and intermediates, Tom is the best.”

That’s easy then – I like Tom already and have plenty of his to go through. Thanks

Viva day game indeed. I liked your observation on the “dark side” vs the “light side” of thing (not just because I’m a Star Wars fan). I think you’ve tapped into a great topic…the camaraderie and community of Game helps the individuals as well as helps the whole community. The inverse side of that, is when people try to exploit the knowledge seeking of others to promote their own personal agendas that ignore some acknowledgement of the community as a whole. some great food for thought.

>> the camaraderie and community of Game helps the individuals as well as helps the whole community.

Yeah. I actually didn’t like guys until I got into the community. I had a lot of good male friends… but I thought of them as exceptions. This was all basically feminism convincing me men sucked… clearly, I’m not a feminist anymore, I do not think men should have anything to do w/ that movement.

As I got into game, I saw men being real… I saw them struggle… I saw them help each other… I saw them kick ass. A lot of guys have reached out to me over the years, became wings, friends and mentors. I’m grateful.

This plays into your blog post very well:

The way other men give you feedback as you’re learning… the “shut the fuck up, you’re no snowflake, this is how its done, she is not “special,” do this.. or suffer, you poor ignorant bastard!!!!” That kind of ass-kicking helps sober you up and move you along.

I love game… we tell the truth. And we know the truth… because we can test it. And her thighs confirm our theories.

Red pillers and the men of game. A masculine education. Yes to that.

nash, i haven’t studied a lot of the men you have studied, so i can’t comment on them, and obviously i love tom and krauser and yohami too, but one question, have you listened to LOVEDROP’s 13 audio cd series?? i thought it was amazing. lovedrop was mystery’s main wing to the point that mystery co-wrote his book with him, and some even say that lovedrop wrote the whole thing.

I don’t think so… Maybe. Let me check.

And I thought Tyler wrote MM. : ]

Maybe I’m wrong about all that.

“I’m a complete fool and everything I say is madness.”

i love it! interesting dream.

This is Julian being solid. I gave this one a solid listen this week, and will again. There is a lot to learn from this talk.

On Thursday, ya boy attended the RSD Free Tour which was being held at the Sheraton Hotel in Manhattan. The event was scheduled from 7-10, but the event started late, however, the event didn't end till about 11:30-12 o'clock. In total their were four speakers, Kevin the RSD Cameraman, Alex, Jeffy, and Owen, (aka Tyler Durden,) Kevin just spoke a little about RSD, (what the company does and his own personal journey, (which happens to be similar to a lot of ours,) by being a part of the company he's learned game and has become quite successful with women. I asked Kevin how long the learning curve was for the average student. Kevin said it various from student to student. For him and the average student, Kevin said that it takes about six actively plying his RSD sh*t to gain proficiency where as for the hard case newbie proficiency would take about a year and half. Alex was next and mainly spoke about game overall. The most profound thing that Alex said was, " It's not the moves you make, it's the fact that you make moves ." Jeff followed and gave this rather humorous anecdotes about one of his friends having sex with a paraplegic in the " Consensual Sex in the Missionary Position for the Sole Purpose of Reproduction Van ," http://www.rsdnation.com/node/150984 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fqKHluYLgw The Consensual Sex Van Revealed Jeffy took a question from Rex about how to get a chick's attention when she's on the phone, and his answer was basically yell at her to get off the phone. There was another question about how to get menage action poppin off, and Jeff's answer was to use the Dual Induction Massage. However, Jeff stress the point that when trying to get that massage thang to pop off, the dude has to take the lead. If the guy tries to play the back, it's going to look hella weak to the chick that brought into the rotation. Jeff also, said that the timing has to be right. The dude can't come in to early because it freak the new chick out and if the dude comes in to late, the new chick is going to be like, "WTF, I'm just here to lick **** and bump c*nt. You go over there." Then Jeff proceeds to look sad while doing a faux meat beat. Then comes Tyler Durden. Okay, Rex has to admit something. All y'all, (Jaylan and Mauser,) who said that Owen, (aka Tyler,) looked sweet as f*ck, we'll in person he does look sweet as f*ck. As a matter I thought of y'all when Tyler took to the stage. Tyler confirmed this when he himself said, " I'm an introverted, meek guy who looks like he just took a c*ck out of his mouth. " The thing about Owen's part of the program, yeah he talked about Game, but he also spoke on this that relevant to other areas of life, especially when he spoke about being a "man in his prime," and this is the next phase where his trying to move RSD, a full fledged development company. What resonated most with me was Owen's personal story. Contrary to how he comes across on Youtube videos, he said that he's innately a very introverted person and he has to constantly battle against going back into his natural state. Though he spends some of his workday outside, he said that he spends a lot of on the computer and nor really interacting with public. When he spends too much time away from people, when get goes out to sarge, this happens, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1Ed1RZcIKo See Tyler SUCK After A Month Off! How Much Should YOU Go Out? (+Infield) Then he spoke on separating yourself from the herd and living a vibrant full life and being true to yourself, (using Tiger Woods an example,) Personally, I got a lot of the Free Tour because I got hear about Game from some of the giants in the Game, especially Tyler, who I found to be an engaging, warm, honest, and an extremely funny dude. Another thing about the Free Tours is that you'll find a bunch of dudes that are like minded about Game that you could network with. I would encourage each of y'all to check out a free tour when they come to your town. However, there is a fully refundable deposit to attend the event.

RSD Travel Review

On February 23 rd 2016, we went on the Istanbul Troy 15-day tour with RSD travel, and I’m writing this RSD Travel review to give other travellers my honest opinion on this tour agency.

Warning: there’s a lot of ranting below!

review on rsd travel

Have you ever seen something and thought, “It’s just too damn good to be true?”

It happened to us recently, which is why I’m writing this RSD Travel review.

Carlo was chatting to his mum on a routine catching-up-on-the-news call when she mentioned a deal she’d seen in the Roscommon Herald, our local newspaper.

The deal was for 14 nights/15 days in Turkey – the first week would be spent travelling overland from Istanbul to Antalya and the second was going to be spent in a 5star hotel in the Turkish Rivera.

The price ? €199 per person .

Better yet, the price included all of the following:

√ return flights from Dublin to Istanbul

√ 14 nights accommodation

√ breakfast each morning

√ all transportation costs (inc flight from Antalya to Istanbul at the end of the trip)

Really ? The flight alone would cost that ? It had to be a scam.

Being the skeptics that we are, we decided to give the company a call and see where the hidden extras were.

Well, after a 10 minute call with quite a nice company rep in the UK, we found out that there really weren’t any hidden extras.

The cost included all of the above and all they needed was a 40euro (pp) booking fee to secure the place.

Our plans meant that we were going to fly to somewhere in that area in February anyway so we figured we’d just book it.

After all, the flight from Dublin to Istanbul could literally cost double that price so we figured it was a great deal.

bad review of rsd travel

Turkey was always somewhere we’d wanted to visit

We booked in June 2015 and heard nothing from the company until they emailed us to say that they were taking the remainder of the fee from our credit card on Dec 29 th as it had to be paid 8 weeks before the departure date.

We could have backed out at this point but we still didn’t have a reason to back out so they took the rest of the money and we were officially booked.

It’s then that we received the emails with ‘optional extras’. See the PDF below for what they were.

Optional Extras with RSD

As we like to find our own food in the evenings and we were trying to keep our budget as low as possible, we spoke about these extras and decided that we wouldn’t get them.

I mean the price of the extras for what you get was extremely reasonable but, if we were to take all the options, the holiday was going to end up costing us another €900.

We’ve never done a packaged tour before (we normally find our own accommodation via Airbnb and book all of our own flights and tours) so we didn’t know what to expect, but it just seemed like way too much money to spend for 2 weeks.

turkey RSD travel

We normally like to find our own food when on the road

Anyway, long story short, our start date for the tour was 23 rd February and it was fast approaching so, at the end of January, I finally did what I should have done weeks previously.

I looked at reviews online for RSD Travel .

Reviews of RSD Travel Tour Agency Online

The reviews were mixed and the bad comments kind of confirmed that the price was too good to be true.

Here’s a snippet of some of the negative comments that I read, and here’s a link so you can read some of the good reviews as well.

“ Organised by RSD Travel my experience of this tour can only be classed as dismal, disappointing and, at one point, frightening.”

“ Be aware however that you will have to buy into the meal and individual tour packages. (There are no alternatives as the whole tour is extremely well sewn up). ”

“ On a whole I would give this, ‘We only want your money,’ trip , a miss. ”

We didn’t let these reviews dampen our expectations and excitement for the trip and we started the tour on the scheduled date with an open mind.

In the meantime, we’d decided to go for the basic package (culture & dinner), which would include a dinner buffet for the first 7 nights, the entrance fees to Troy and the other sites that we’d planned to see in the first week, and it also included the tour guide.

The Ancient City of Troy

What changed our minds were reviews that said that if we didn’t go for it, we’d basically be left hungry as the hotels were in the middle of nowhere.

After hearing what other people had to say about their experience, we decided that the last thing we wanted was to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with nothing to eat.

We also wanted to use dinner as a time to get to know the other members of the group and we wouldn’t be able to do that if we’d have stuck to our guns and ventured out by ourselves for food in the evening.

It was €149 pp so we felt that, again, the price was reasonable.

Meeting Our Tour Group and RSD Travel Guide in Istanbul

We had arrived in Istanbul before the tour group who flew in from Dublin so we met them at the first hotel, which was about a 30-minute drive from Sultanahmet Square.

I’m not going to mention the real name of our guide (you’ll see why later on), so let’s call him John.

John seemed lovely right from the get-go.

He was smiley, friendly, informative and he just seemed like a genuine guy. On arriving at the hotel he went around to each group and ticked off who was taking what package.

He told us that we’d only have to decide for week one first, and we could make a decision as to what packages we wanted to take for week 2 closer to the time.

Everyone in our tour group went for the basic package one (see above), and everyone except for us also went for the additional package (Explorer).

I’d read about these pushy RSD Travel tour guides that forced people into taking packages. I’d read that they got confrontational if people didn’t sign up, and I’d read that things often got ugly.

Not with John.

He wasn’t pushy but he did explain that if we didn’t sign up for the basic package that we’d be basically left hungry sitting on a bus while everyone else is stuffing their faces.

We totally understood and, as previously explained, we signed up for the buffet dinners etc. for the first 7 nights.

The tour started off on a great note. The tour guide was lovely and spoke perfect English. The driver was smiley and didn’t drive like he had a death wish.

The bus was comfy and our tour group, all of whom was from Ireland, was absolutely lovely.

review rsd travel

Well, what started off well progressively got worse!

Without taking you through the day-to-day shenanigans of each day, I’m just going to sum up some points below on things that people should know before going on a tour with RSD Travel.

Let’s start with the GOOD things about going on a tour with RSD Travel :

  • The tour is great value for the price. Your flights (normally with Turkish airlines), accommodation, and breakfast etc. is included just like it states. And even with the basic package, it’s not a bad deal for 14 nights in Turkey, is it?
  • The quality of hotels ranged from mediocre to really nice. Some of our group mentioned that some of the bathrooms were missing tiles, had no hot water etc. but none of the hotels we stayed in where unsatisfactory in my opinion.
  • Generally speaking, the quality of the food at the breakfasts and buffet dinners was also to a high standard. The variety was usually very good, with most hotels offering a wide selection of traditional Turkish cuisine and European food.

There was one hotel in particular where the food was absolutely amazing, and as I sat there eating like a queen with a dessert plate the size of my face, I reflected on the price we’d paid for the basic package and I thought that we’d got a good deal with the food.

  • The driver (I can’t remember his name) was a great driver and unlike other drivers in Turkey, he was extremely careful and never took any chances.
  • The hotel for the second week – the Eftalia Marine Hotel in Antayla – was lovely and the pool was such a treat to have. The staff at the hotel, especially the RSD Travel rep (Sylvana) was lovely, and they made the second week very enjoyable.

tour turkey rsd travel

The ‘Whirling Dervishes’ was one of the few evening entertainment options that were offered

Let’s continue with the BAD of RSD Travel:

  • I felt like a walking dollar sign every single day of the trip. Everywhere we stopped, people wanted money from us.

Whether it was the attendants in the restaurants that we stopped in blatantly asking for a tip or people at the overpriced pit stops shoving books and shitty souvenirs down our necks, everyone wanted money from us.

  • And talking of the pit stops where we stopped to use the loo or to have lunch or pick up some snacks, the prices that were charged in these places were ridiculously hiked up. I’m talking €3 for a cornetto and €1 to use the toilet people.
  • Apart from the first hotel in Istanbul, all of the hotels were in the middle of nowhere. We would have gone hungry had we not went for the dinner package.
  • If you don’t like early mornings, forget going on a tour with RSD Travel. We were woken at 6 most mornings and on the road by 8. The second week is totally free so this only applies to the first 7 days.
  • Many of the hotels had thermal spas and nice facilities but we never got a real chance to use them as we’d normally arrive late in the evening and leave early again the next morning.
  • The itinerary for the first half of the tour sucks. To put it into perspective, we got to spend 1 hour in the world-famous ancient city of Troy and over 3 hours listening to a hard sell in a carpet factory. That leads me to…

istanbul tour rsd travel

We would have loved more time in places like Sardis instead of factories

  • John, the tour guide, turned out to be just as pushy, as condescending, and as ignorant as some of the other RSD Travel guides that I’d read about on Tripadvisor. Without going into too much detail, he bullied our tour group into taking the package for the second week.

When we and another couple said we’d like to eat out at some restaurants in the area and not take the dinner package, he actually stuck up his fingers at the other couple.

The man that he directed it towards was 80 years old and was one of the nicest and kind-hearted people we’d met. It was totally uncalled for.

He also attacked us for giving him and the bus driver their tips in envelopes. He shouted at us like we were a bunch of kids saying “this amount is way under what I expected to be tipped”. The cheek!

And, if that wasn’t bad enough, he handed us out our review questionnaire sheets on the 7 th day before arriving at the hotel in Antalya. These weren’t anonymous as our tour group number was marked clearly on the top of the page.

On collecting them from everyone, John went to the top of the bus and had a read for himself.

He then marched down the bus and attacked Damien and Aisling, a lovely couple from Dublin, and reiterated everything they’d written in their questionnaire for the whole bus to hear. He raised his voice and was totally unprofessional in my opinion.

I do have way more to say on the guide and his antics but (for the sake of the word count going over 3k) I better leave it there.

  • The tour itinerary includes a visit to a carpet factory, a jewelry factory and a leather factory. Now don’t be fooled into thinking it’s an educational stop.

While you will get a little info about what goes on in these factories, you will be HOUNDED and HARASSED into buying things in all 3 places. First comes the welcome talk and the nicey-nice stuff and then the doors open and salespeople literally pick out their prey and work hard to get them to empty their wallets.

We had no intention of buying a ring for €3,000, a carpet for €10,000 or a leather coat for €800 so we were just adamant that we weren’t buying anything and the smiles of the salespeople turned to scowls and we were dead to them.

If you’re easily pressured into buying things or you find it hard to say no, be prepared to be heckled.

It’s also mandatory that everyone goes into these factories. One guy said he didn’t want to go into the leather factory, and John basically told him that he didn’t have a say in the matter.

This was the turning point when John went from nice guy to rogue!

RSD Travel review

A Turkish woman keeping busy in the carpet factory

From my understanding of the company now, I think the owners of the company also own these factories which is why so long is spent there and so much effort is put into harassing tour groups to spend their money on overpriced goods that they might not have budgeted for.

I’m sorry I can’t be more positive about John and these factories but they really left a sour taste in my mouth.

airbnb voucher

So, having explained the good, bad and the ugly, would I recommend RSD Travel to others?

The answer depends on what you want from your trip.

If you’re looking for a luxury getaway with a friendly guide who’ll add to your experience for all the right reasons, the answer is a big fat NO .

If you just want a few days away where you don’t mind being bullied into buying stuff you don’t need and made feel like s*it if you don’t buy jewellery, carpets or leather, then YES .

Having had the experience above, I want other travellers to know what to expect, which is why I’ve written this RSD Travel review.

As mentioned, the trip is good value for money and Turkey is a nice place to be, but RSD’s pushy guides, the greedy factory owners, the rude salespeople and the constant pressure to spend money dampens all of that.

We certainly won’t be taking another trip with RSD Travel as it’s a scam that, in my opinion, should be boycotted.

Note: I’m sure this obviously isn’t always the case with RSD Travel, and some people have glowing reviews of their holidays, but I’m basing this on our experience.

The saving grace for the 2 weeks for us was the tour group. It was so lovely to hear familiar accents and laugh at some good old Irish jokes.

We played cards, we laughed (a lot), we sang, we ate dinner as a group most evenings and we shared great times together.

For those interested, a catalogue of how travelers can be treated by the holiday industry. Sumptuous & gourmet flows freely in the brochure but I had no experience of it. It is true that you never get something for nothing, but the holiday is a bit like buying a car without windows or doors but they won’t sell one like it anyway. Gatwick to Marrakech. Told by travel company to go to North terminal, never heard of Corenden Airlines there. Hopped on shuttle to south terminal, found a man who did but through a special gate. Aircraft arrived half hour after take off time and eventually took off not to Morocco but Manchester. The aircraft had been badly loaded and many had to move seats before it could take off.

We picked up more passengers at Manchester but the company had failed to notify refueling was required and had to wait another hour before it could take place. Arrived at hotel in Marrakech after 9pm for dinner shower etc to be on the road next day at 7am, arriving at next hotel that day at 8pm. Two days of holiday now exhausted.

In true Brit spirit we became united against the common enemy, became good friends and laughed off much of the things wrong with the tour.

The second week at least we were in a very good but large holiday complex but our travel rep was the rudest nastiest man you could meet and frequently walked away in a rage at any enquiry. At our first meeting one of our group had a real bad tempered nose to nose with him and that most of us experienced at some time. For pick up at Gatwick, ask anything like what time we would be leaving or what terminal we arrive at he refused to answer or say “I’m off duty”. I felt insulted in his inference that it was a stupid question “it is obvious we would go back to the terminal we came from”.

On the last day we found out. Not going to Gatwick but Stansted and coached to G/W, no time or destination available. We were taken to the Marrakech Airport, a 15min drive to arrive at 3am, 3hrs before booking in started. Then chaos, could all the Manchester people come forward, 200 people all mixed up in a queue with large cases etc.

Having eventually got on the aircraft, banter about nothing more could go wrong, unbelievable, engines turning over, all seated up and ready to fly. The pilot announced that he was alright at breakfast but, now did not feel well and would have to get a replacement, so there we sat until handover took place.

Not the end, at Stansted told to go to coach 31, arrived not that one, number 30. So that I could rearrange pickup asked driver where and about when, North terminal drop off zone G/W he said, like many others phoned taxi etc. A courier got on the coach and announced we were going to South Terminal, just short of a lynching he changed his mind. This is the worse I have been treated by a travel company in my 40years of travelling. Experience is OK but not much use at my age.

Florence Murphy

Sounds about right John!

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. We wrote this review to warn others of what to expect from RSD Travels. As you said, it’s like buying a car without windows so people need to know what to expect from the ‘holidays’ that they offer.

I cannot believe some of the things that happened to your group – the pilot, the tour guide, the mix-ups? Crazy.

The group we travelled with certainly made our trip and it sounds like you feel the same.

I just wish RSD wouldn’t promise things that they certainly don’t deliver on. Our tour was a shambles and the tour guide was one of the rudest men I’ve met in my life.

It’s safe to say we won’t be taking another tour with them soon.

I hope your future travels are a lot more memorable, for the right reasons. 🙂

Jennifer Kristiansen

Spot on. We went from Birmingham to Northern Cyprus via Manchester and Antalya over 7 hourz and on the return journey 2 nurses spent the entire flight looking after three casualtues including myself. O had to have an ambulance meet the plane to be rushed to hospital with multiple plumonary embolisms and AFib. I was told i was extremely lucky to be alive!! I put it down to the outbound flight and gruelling itinery when we arrived. Everything you have said is absolutely true. The guides are pushy and aggressive and the tours are sometimes cultural but mainly a ploy to get you to buy grossly overpriced goods. Leave well alone. I have travelled the world and never been on a trip as horrendous as this one.

Oh my goodness – that’s just awful Jennifer. I don’t know how these guys aren’t being held accountable. 🙁 Hope you’re doing ok now and thanks for your contribution – it might save another person having to go through what you did.

I really don’t know how to put my comments on line but

stephen slade

well we have been four times with RSD travel , last time to China , as said in this persons eloquent review , you don’t get luxury but we have always been delighted with our guides and found the food and culture packages great value. I find a lot of the complaints a little petty , having to leave early allows you to see more places for a longer time , missing a few bathroom tiles !!!! Their advertising ALWAYS lists any extra costs so no cause for complaint there either and we are now booked for India with RSD again !

Ella

We are booked for India… Any useful tips?

J J

My sister and I have travelled with RSD BUT never take any of their packages, always manage to find a lunch stop room service for dinner or taxi to a nearby restaurant. The standard of hotels are excellent the guides are rude, pushy and are never happy with our independent attitude, but, we are thick skinned and can ignore them.We walk through the hard sell areas always a cafe at the exit. The travel arrangements sometimes are not great but you only get what you pay for, so what can you expect. It is fortunate that these hoidays are not our main break. We have been to Turkey Cyprus Dubui (twice) Israel and Crete is on the horizon no doubt with the same situations (We take a kettle and snacks too )

Dermot Mc Glinchey

Hi Florence…

First class and honest review, well written and superbly detailed…We had a similar experience ourselves, I loved Turkey and it’s wonderful people…So sad to see such a fantastic place being dragged back to the stone age, I think Attaturk must be turning in his grave at the antics of the present regime…

We also flew from Dublin to Istanbul on Turkish airlines, what a fantastic way to travel, they are a credit to the airline industry…The tour was fantastic and beautiful hotels during the first week, the itinerary was a bit demanding but we went with the flow…In my opinion RSD do provide a first class experience of Turkey, however they then spoil it with the way their guests are fleeced…

The carpet factory, leather factory, Jewelry warehouse are just a pressurized boiler house,(I am using the time share scam terms here)…In our group I would estimate we spent about 40k between us in the 3 places, 1 couple spent around 7k on a fur coat…I am happy for them as they were convinced it was excellent value…My partner and I spent at least 2k in the 3 places, have to admit these people could sell sand to the Arab’s…

Unfortunately while we were visiting the Goreme church museum my partner fell in the ice and snow, turned out she had broken 3 ribs and also had internal bleeding…Spent 4 days in hospital in Alanya, first class private hospital, the staff were wonderful and the doctor were world class…Yet we were pressurized to go into the museum even though the conditions were treacherous, bus disappeared when we got off so no choice but to go in…The rep was adamant we stuck to the itinary, (as Dell boy would say a 24 carat plonker…)

So in summing up I would say go by all means, however be very careful with the packages you choose…RSD are making huge commissions on all the sales, this is how they can put together this tour because they cannot make money on the basic package…

Thanks for your kind words on a not-so-nice post!

I cannot believe your wife suffered all of that, and all because you were pressurised into going into the museum when the conditions were obviously treacherous. Absolutely outrageous to be honest. I am glad to hear that she was treated well in the hospitals, even though that’s no compensation for what you guys endured. Shame on RSD Travel.

And the fact that you’ve told me that your tour group spent an estimate of 40k collectively makes me even more mad! These guys, as you say, could sell sand to the arabs and I think it’s so unfair to put people under the pressure that they do. It’s bullying beyond anything I’ve ever seen before.

I don’t know did I mention this in the post but there was a young guy on the tour with us and his sister recently had a baby. He was such a nice, timid guy and the sharks in the jewellery factory preyed in on him. They had him in a private room and when we saw him about to sign something, his friend burst into the room to find out that he was about to buy a bracelet for his niece that would take him 3 years (THREE YEARS!) to pay off in monthly payments.

I think people really need to be made aware of what to expect when booking with RSD Travel and I thank you for contributing to my post to alert people of it.

I hear they’re branching out and doing more tours to Dubai but I doubt either of us will be going on a tour with them anytime soon!

I hope your wife is on the mend Dermot! 🙂

Jo Neil

Having read through all of the comments, I have to disagree with some. It’s not compulsory to buy the meal packages, it’s just more convenient. I wouldn’t fancy having to find a restaurant at 9 pm when arriving at the hotel after a really busy day. The food in the hotels has always been superb and excellent value for money. Generally less than £20 per night for all you can eat including coffee etc? All these extras are in the leaflets, online and you are asked if you want any extra packages when speaking to the representative when booking over the phone, so some obviously don’t read it all properly. That’s your fault, not the guide. The carpet factories etc. Many are within walking distance of a supermarket or something, just be observant. No-one is forcing you to buy, pressure perhaps, but you can say no (I bought 4 wall tapestries from india, my choice, not pressure, other places I said no). If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. Tips, they aren’t mandatory, so if you aren’t happy, don’t give anything. My husband and I have been on 5 RSD tours, and yes, some things aren’t totally satisfactory, but that happens with any holiday. Every trip has had at least one moaning couple, which, quite frankly *isses many of the other travellers off, so my suggestion to those people, don’t moan to everyone else who are on the whole perfectly happy, and put in a complaint from home. You, and everyone else have paid good money, so enjoy the experience. Where will you get a fully escorted tour including fabulous hotels, good food and great company for the price? Go to Spain for 2 weeks if you aren’t happy and put your complaints in there, because even there, some of you will have something that doesn’t suit. I’ve never had a bad trip, only bad fellow passengers. Booking my 6th trip this week and hope to for many years to come. I’ve always found them to be good value and have thoroughly enjoyed every trip with RSD. Enjoy 🙂

Ray

I don’t care how good value this tour is for what you see and do in Turkey, but the way “John” treated that older couple in the group is completely unprofessional and uncalled for and would turn me off from ever considering RSD Travel in the future. I have used my fair share of packaged tours in the past, and have never heard nor seen such a situation before.

However, if you ever decide to go on another packaged tour again, then I recommend G Adventures. They are a bit pricey, but their tour guides are bar none some of the most helpful, courteous, and professional people you will ever meet in the tourism industry. I used their services in the past for Peru and Brazil (World Cup 2014).

Thanks for that suggestion. We’ve no plans to do another packaged tour any time soon but we’ll keep it in mind. 🙂

The way he treated everyone was disgusting, including the way he reacted to our friend. I just didn’t want to pain all their guides with the same brush but judging by what other travellers have said, they’re equally as bad.

It’s just crazy that they’re still getting away with what they’re doing.

Ed Ford

The above feedback is so accurate. My wife and I have just got back from a disastrous tour of Morocco thinking that our appalling experience was unique only to discover that our treatment was par for the course. We cannot understand why a company that allows so much bullying and manipulation, not to mention downright lies bothers to continue with this type of holiday. Certainly we will never again book with RSD as this was our worst holiday experience in 50 years.

Sounds like you and your wife just had a typical RSD Travel experience!

It’s shocking what they’re getting away with but people don’t know what to expect from them before booking unfortunately, and the attractive prices that they charge draws the crowds in.

It’s why I’ve written this RSD Travel tour review as I think more people need to know what they’re letting themselves in for as it’s certainly not an enjoyable experience, at least it wasn’t for yourself, and everyone else that’s had a similar experience.

Thanks for your contribution and I hope your next trip is a more enjoyable one. 🙂

Hi I have just arranged a trip to Morocco with RSD on the 27th of October 2017 yet as yet I haven’t paid my deposit. After reading these horrible stories, I no longer want to go ahead with the booking. Am I legally obliged to pay the deposit? Your advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

I’m glad to hear that my experience and that of those who’ve commented has helped you to avoid what would be a repeat experience of the bullying and intimidation tactics that RSD are now being highlighted for.

I’ve just done a quick search through our travel documents and I can’t find anything in the terms and conditions that would answer your question for you. I would suggest, however, to reach out to them ASAP and cancel your booking.

If you haven’t given your card details, they cannot charge you and given that your travel dates are so far away, I would guess that you won’t have to pay the deposit. At least, you shouldn’t.

Hope it all works out for you. I’d recommend you guys to get your own flight and organise a tour with a reputable company and you’ll enjoy it so much more.

Happy Travels!

Jennie

I am taking my sister to the dubai as a birthday treat in June.

I am already committed so will keep you posted on our experience on our return.

I’d be very interested to hear how it goes Jennie so keep us posted.

At least you’re going in with some warning of what to expect and let’s hope it’s not as bad as the Turkey experience! Safe travels and have fun.

Rebecca Leppard

Hi Jennie, we are on that one too . . . what date are you leaving, we should stick together! we know Dubai and Abu Dhabi like the back of our hands and go every year. Worse case scenario cars are so cheap to hire, if we find ourselves stranded in nowhere, my husband will drive! I did keep saying to myself when we booked it, that it seemed to good to be true and were we sitting on the wings of the plane. Jennnie make sure that you get booze in duty free at LGW its very expensive in the Emirates. Might see you there!

Hey a bit of balance required here…I have now enjoyed four superb holidays with RSD..two in Turkey,Morocco( Feb this year) and Dubai and the Emirates in April this year. All were excellent value for money and very well organised.Turkish Airlines are Fab..loads of leg room and food and drink provided FOC.The Hotels used are all very good..our guides have been excellent. The prices of the holidays are incredibly good value and I think we can expect some things in the package not to be to everyone’s liking..i.e.the hard sell re carpets, jewellery and leather..I always say no thank you with a smile and divert the conversation onto the Country we are in..they either engage with you or leave you alone. As for adverse comments re the packages all I can say is ‘go with the flow’they are excellent value for money and add to the pleasure of the whole experience. We have met lots of people on each of our RSD holidays who are ‘returners’..in fact most of the people on our trips have travelled with RSD before.Roll on S.Africa later this year and perhaps China next. Be very aware that if you are travelling to Dubai now it will be scorchingly hot all of the time.We love the sun but we were on our limit in April when it was up to 38 degs. We would also recc taking the extra ‘chill out’ week with the holidays as some of the tours are ‘full on’ but if you know you have the chill out week bonus to come it makes it easier to accept the busy first week schedule. We were surprised with the Dubai trip that only ourselves and one other couple took the add on week..others said they did not know it was available..yet it was clearly stated in the brochure. We look fwd to many more holidays with RSD..10 out of 10…Cheers.

T Burgess

We two ladies have also taken the same trip as you and found them exactly the same. Good value to say the least. We are thinking of taking the China trip in November but cannot find any reviews as yet. Anyone out there taken this holiday.

Kenneth Brown

We went to China last year with RSD and it was wonderful. We’ve also been to Turkey with them and that was also quite memorable. The common denominator was the guides who were both very good but pushy. I don’t appreciate being told ‘now is the day we do the tipping”. I didn’t give as much as they expected so had to endure a long face (s) after that. In October we’re going to India with them and again that looks to be quiet full on. I’ll take a packet of envelopes with me and distribute them to the other passengers so that they can pay without feeing pressured. I’m really struggling with the visa application at the moment. Check out the prices for visas in China and India before you commit.

Lynne Phillips

I agree with your comments. I’ve had to fantastic trips to Dubai and Turkey. Couldn’t fault the food or hotels. The tour guide in Dubai was quite rude though. But he just made a fool of himself. It gave us a laugh. We stayed in the Radisson Blu in Dubai. It was amazing like being on a Sandals holiday. They don’t do that now but was unforgettable to us. Where can you get a 5* Hotel on the beach and a weeks cultural tour in Dubai for about £800.00 I’m thinking of doing the Indian tour. Just wish there was a beach break. I think for that price you have to expect a couple of stops in a carpet or jewellery store

Wendy Redpath

Hi Florence, My friend and I have been to Turkey with RSD twice ( last year and the year before) We read the reviews first, so went with no expectations and were quite happy, though thoroughly exhausted after the 7 days of tour. The second holiday, had the free week at a spa hotel ( and was well needed). Luckily, our tour guides were ok, and friendly. This autumn we are trying the South Africa tour. I will try to remember to report to you how it goes.

I’m glad you guys enjoyed it. I think if one goes into these tours knowing what to expect, they’ll be somewhat prepared and can enjoy it a little more, which is why I wanted to spread the word.

I didn’t know that they did South Africa as well. Enjoy it as best you can and do remember to report back. I’ll be interested to hear how it goes. 🙂

Marina

We just came back from the 2 weeks trip to Turkey/Rhodes with RSD. With flights to Izmir. Only positive impressions. Especially considering price. Yes, early morning wake up. But this is what one is to expect if one knows the itinerary . No? Our guide, Selchuk, was good. No pressure at all. We did not book couple of the excursion from the so called cultural package, and there were no rejection from him Leather and carpet factory: we were not interested in buying anything. So, simply found a cafe on site and spent time in the shade with coffee and chat while waiting for others. The second week in Amara Sealight Elit hotel in Kusadsi was really good. The hotel is almost brand new, built 2 years ago. Very big room and a big balcony with a seaview. Indoor and out door pool, hamam, sauna, steam room – all included in price. Big variety of realy very good food. So, when I read some not very goos reviews, I think are we talking about one and the same company 🙂

And do not forget the price you ( and we) have paid for the trip .

Hey Marina,

It sounds like you had a much better experience. I didn’t mind the early mornings to be honest as I’d have much preferred early mornings over late nights so that really wasn’t a problem. As I said in the post, it is excellent value for money considering the flights are included and the standard of accommodation is great.

That said; the guide was what totally let the whole company down for us. Had he not been pushy, rude and downright arrogant, I wouldn’t have written such a negative review.

Anyway, glad your experience was one you enjoyed and let’s hope others have a similar experience to yours rather than ours. 🙂

Cath Scalln

We also had a great tour to Northern Cyprus and Turkey. From reading the reviews of RSD Travel, it seems to me that, where travellers have unrealistic expectations given the price, or don’t read the information about the extra packages first, that is where ne problem lies. However, I also think that it is the guide who makes or breaks the holiday. Our guide was funny, informative and friendly. Yes, he sold us the packages, but no-one was pressurised. The factory visits are a bit wearing but you can learn to deal with the high pressure selling. No- one can make you buy and they soon get fed up of you show no interest. We just listened to the talks and then walked straight on through. Overall, my feeling was that we got a little more than we paid for overall, especially on the all inclusive second week.

Glad your experience was a bit more positive.

I don’t think the problem lies with the unrealistic expectations or not reading the information about the extra packages, the problem lies with RSD being totally misleading with regards to their advertising.

They should, in my opinion, be a lot more open about the fact that the extra packages are really mandatory. With our tour, and more of the others from the comments on this post, people would have went hungry had they not taken the packages as the hotels and restaurants they stopped at were in the middle of nowhere.

I guess our group wouldn’t have felt so overwhelmed about the charges if they hadn’t been harassed into spending that extra money before even getting off the bus from the airport on the first night.

At the end of the day, as you said, the guide really does make or break the holiday though and ours definitely broke it!

It sounds like your guide was much more tolerable so overall, despite the extra packages and factory visits, that’s what it comes down to.

Thanks for your contribution. 🙂

Nasim

Hi, we have just returned from Morocco tour and not very happy with rsd. Yes we knew about the extras but the itenary first week was not met. Some of the places we wanted to go were left altogether like Karaouyne the oldest university in the world, Koutoubia mosque and old city or the Medina of Marrakech. Then at every place we visited there had to be a local guide and had to give tip for their devices. The guide had two helpers besides the driver so here four people to give the tip. The food some times good sometimes not so good. Same with different hotels a in the first week Then second week hotel, club Marmara is not a 4/5 star hotel . There is nothing around there. To go to Marrakech a shuttle that charges 4 euros and that also drops you quite a distance from the attactions. Nothing to do in the hotel if you don’t like swimming or lying in the sun. Same loud music day and night.. staff ok but not many speak English and informations and signs too are not in English. On top of all this, at the introduction meetind the guide bombarded us with all about the holiday in a very loud shouting voice for 1 and half hour in a hot stuffy room. The holiday seems very reasonably priced in the beginning but with extras it came to about £800.00 Per person . And that also not enjoyed by us. so bye bye RSD. Never again

Your experience sounds pretty similar to ours Nasim. 🙁

If RSD Travel were upfront about the extra costs (because let’s be honest, they are mandatory), I guess we wouldn’t have felt so cheated.

Also, based on what you’ve said, your guide didn’t add to your experience, which isn’t acceptable, regardless of how ‘cheap’ the holiday was.

I, like you, will pay the extra in the future and avoid RSD.

Let’s hope your future adventures are more enjoyable. 🙂

Siraj

Hello Nasim, Sorry to hear you did not have a pleasant RSD tour to Morocco. The tour guide on your coach should have been knowledgeable about the places you visited on the itinerary. Therefore, it was not necessary to hire local guides. If that was the case than you have the right to reduce the tip to the tour guide at the end of your tour as he did not provide you with the relevant service. I have done two trips with RSD initially Istanbul to Antalyain 2015 and recently this month Turkey and Greece with extra week in a 5* Hotel Amara Sealight Elite in Kusadasi. I can assure you both trips were extremely enjoyable and appreciated by all traveled on our coach and we had a very knowledgeable tour guides. As I have booked our next trip to Morocco in October and we are familiar with Agadir and Marrakech, you have given me a hint that you stayed on your second week at Club Marmara and there are two Club Marmara. One is Club Marmara Madina and the other Club Marmara Dar Atlas both in Marrakech. Could you inform which of the two you stayed the second week would be very much appreciated? Regards

mercy mace

Hi We have done 3 trips with RSD Turkey, Dubia and last one was Northern Cyprus on all we had excellant and imformative Guides not at all pushy but we were happy to give an above average tip as we had extremely good service from guide and coach driver. I would agree RSD travel are very evasive on booking and do not inform individuals of flight diversion etc but we feel it is still extremely good value for money and are just considering Morocco. The visits to the Factorty outlet are a pain but like an reviewer mentioned just have a coffee and enjoy each others company. We would be very intersted to hear from Siraj regarding their Morocco trip and any tips or advise.

Serena Gammon

The worst scam ever. Absolutely terrible experience. Just returned from a trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The tour guide was extremely rude and pushy especially to those who did not want to purchase the additional trips. The carpet and gold factory visit was the worst experience ever. The salesmen were pushy and arrogant. DO NOT purchase anything from these places. They are a complete rip off and they charge you at least 4 times the value. RSD are also in in the bargaining scam so do not pay any attention to their efforts to assist. I guess this is another way of RSD getting some money back from the cheap package. Never ever again!!!

Mary Jones

I have just had a holiday in Northern Cyprus and the ‘bargain’ holiday will be completely negated if you buy anything in the factories. In the UK a trip to a factory means cost price bargains -There, it’s think of a number and double it. And as for the salesmen -think of your worst pressured ‘time share’ experience and add on one for Kirby Cleaners and include the seduction techniques of Warren Beaty! Just leave your passport in your Hotel and your bank card with it! That way they can’t sign you up for a money transfer -to pay later -nor make payments weekly. Ladies on their own are easy meat, and they NEVER tell you the price of the goods until the last minute. Honestly? fighting them off completely ruined the holiday .

Judith Barden

I travelled to Turkey as a lady on my own. Turkish airlines were superb. The first week we were never in the hotels long enough to enjoy or even see the facilities. I had been warned by a friend that at a factory if I said that I was not going to buy anything I would be asked where my husband was. Sure enough at factory 3 the question was asked. My answer ‘Dead and burried’. There ended that conversation. Our driver was a gentleman, our guide a bully with a very crude sense of humour. All in all taking the meal packages made for a very convenient holiday. It has been the custome for southern countries to attract northern tourists offpeak at low cost. Dear tour guide please do not tell me that I have a moral obligation to spend large amounts of money in your factory outlets! Once you know what to expect the overall experience is adequate. The Turkish travel industry is light years behind their European counterparts. Judith Barden

Pamela Boothman

Very interested to read the comments. Our experience in March on the Northern Cyprus tour was a shambles and got worse as the week went on. I have been complaining to the company since I returned so have refrained from putting anything online but as I haven’t got anywhere here goes !! Flights from Manchester are more or less always delayed (reason later) so arriving at hotel after midnight. Information given out on the coach regarding paying for buffet, upgrading to a drinks package and paying for extra trips. After paying for all these (we didn’t want to go hungry either) it took the cost to well over a bargain price holiday. The first hotel was fine, food acceptable but the drinks package wasn’t worth it as the local spirits and wine were awful. The guide was OK and knowlegable and reasonably friendly. The first morning we were told the itinerary had changed and we were having a free day on the Friday !! The excursions were OK but really not an lot to see. The trouble cam ewhen we were taken to the second hotel ‘Riverside Resort’ as soon as the coach pulled up it was apparent it was not anything like the first hotel and the standards were certainly not 4* equivalent. Our room (villa) was damp, dark and gloomy, the top bed linen had not been laundered, the door strip on the floor was loose, the paint crumbling of the walls (could go on but won’t). The dining room was just as bad, the food inedible, there was not a goog choice and it certainly fell well short of a ‘sumptuous gourmet buffet we had paid for. I then complained to the guide who could do nothing about it as she was not a company representative. A few of us (some people had worse rooms than ours) told the guide we would not be entering the factory shops from now on and she burst into tears and ran to her room. The next day everyone was complaining but we all decided to make the most of it. The return journey was a nightmare, stopping in Antalaya, then flying to Birmingham, being invited into the non existant transit lounge, only to find we had to go through full security again and walk back to the furthest away gate, the round trip took over an hour and some of the older people really struggled with this, hence the delay back into Manchester. On return my complaint went in, a £40 RSD travel voucher was offered and refused (why would I even contemplate travelling with them again) and since then I have had various correspondence with paragraphs copied and pasted and no explaination to my photographic evidence. My photographs will be posted on trip advisor and anywhere else I can. All in all the second hotel let the holiday down, I understand there are better rooms than we were allocated, and in my opinion the company has got to greedy and sent far too many people to the resorts.

Magnus

Being curious about what other European (non-Swedish) RSD-travellers had to say about touring with this company, I found this blog. Your last question and answers says it all. The tours MAY be a bargain, IF you know what will come. We are on our fifth and propably last tour (UAE) and must say this last one has been the least rewarding. Turkey was OK (twice), but we experienced a terrible rud, almost .. no he was aggressive salesman in the leather shop. Following us to the bus shouting and yelling. On our first tour, however we missed the shops as I, to the guide’s dislike had to be rushed to a hospital with a severe food poisoning. Malta was Ok, much because there were no mandatory shops and the local buses stoppad outside the hotel. Marocco was also OK, but early mornings and late evenings was a pain in the …. shoulders. Second week was so misspent. Being sent to a tourist camp in the desert warned by our guide not to go to Marrakech. The lunch package at least included free drinks … Now we are in the Arab Emirate and we feel so much time has been spent on nothing. The 3-4 hours in the jewel and fur shops could have been spent in any if the malls. The excursions are heavily overpriced (the AED440 desert tour costs 100 if booked locally!). There are no lunch or dinner packages. And this tour was far from cheap. We have travelled for weeks in USA, Ireland and Sicily and sometimes spent a LOT, but that has been our decision to do so, not because a pushy guide has made us do it, or the circustances has called for a huge withdrawal from my Master Card.

One last detail. Read about several Swedish travellers that have ripped off in the jeweller store. When having had their stuffed evaluated in Sweden, it has been obvious that they have paid twice the real value of the jewelry.

Lynn Daniels

We are going to Morocco 24th October and hope to have as good a guide and driver as in Dubai last Autumn but hope for a little more common sense regarding the unexpected. The UAE itinerary was severely ‘shot’ as our plane landed elsewhere in a desert in the UAE – our airport had bn closed due to drone activity there! We were on the Tarmac/Sand around 5 hours with no explanation, but were served no food or drink by Turkish Airlines, despite requests. We felt it was unrealistic to begin the tour after only 1 hour of sleep! After all, we lost a whole nights sleep, arriving at the hotel just in time to scrape into the end of breakfast at 9.40am. We checked in after eating… If any of you will be travelling with us, do get in touch. Would also be interested to know which Marrakech hotel they use.

Brian Macdonald

We are also going to Marrakech on the 27th October, Flying from Manchester. I contacted RSD today to find out the time of our flight, but they could not tell me. They said that we are travelling with Corenden Airlines, which I have not heard of, so I rang their enquiry line, but they stated that they do not fly to Morrocco. I really am worried now. Can anyone help

I haven’t heard of that airline either so I can’t be of much help to you. I suggest to keep calling RSD until you get someone that will deal with things a bit better than the person that you’ve already spoken to.

Good luck with it and keep me and other travellers updated on how your trip goes. 🙂

Ms Helen O'Brien

Oh gosh I’m now getting very worried about my RSD travel trip to Morocco on 6th October. I am flying with Corendon Dutch airlines from Stansted to Marrakech but according to Stansted website and Corendon website there are no flights from Stansted to Marrakesh. I’ll phone RSD again to check flight is still from Stansted as trip advisor reviews for other RSD tours mention airport changes at last minute. I did phone rsd a few weeks ago as hadn’t got any flight times and she said they never give flight details until 2 wks before. She also couldn’t confirm it would be a direct flight but said that any stop over were usually only an hour or so. I’m assuming that late notice of flights is because it’s charter flights. I’m hoping that they will have managed to fill a plane from Stansted and we’ll be going direct. I’ve taken the evening meal package for week 1 because couldn’t face having to trek out to find restaurants in a different city each night. I’ll probably sign up for same in wk 2 as am holidaying on my own for first time and don’t want any hassle/ unwanted attention. Did you do the optional trip to Essouaira I’m told it’s a very pretty seaside resort with great fish restaurants.

Sarah

RSD Abu Dhabi/ Dubai April 2017 Our first holiday with RSD. We really enjoyed this holiday especially the wonderful Ajman Palace where we spent the last couple of nights in the most amazing suite. The other people on our trip were wonderful. Turkish Airlines were excellent though changing flights at Attaturk airport was challenging on the return trip – the security arrangements are a joke- we were scared we would miss our flight! (RSD can’t be blamed for this.) Our tour guide was a pretty pushy lady but ok – just don’t fall for the sales pitch re trips – we did our own more successfully than theirs according to our fellow passengers who took up their offers. The only excursion of theirs we did was the dune bashing in the desert – terrifying unless you are a keen roller coaster rider. One lady in our 4wd was very sick! To be fair others loved it. The leather/ carpet/ jewellery rip offs were low points – we bought zero but you do get hassled A LOT. Don’t be scared of just saying NO – you are never going to see these salespeople again. I could not believe what some of our fellow trippers bought. Very hard sell indeed. All in all though we had a great holiday for a brilliant price. There were several for whom it was their umpteenth RSD holiday, so they can’t be that bad! We have booked South Africa for 2018. Would love to know what the pitfalls of that are before we go,re the hard sell tactics, just so we know what to avoid. Know it packs an awful lot in but ok with that. Glad these are adult holidays – don’t think kids would like the early/late starts and coach travel much. There is no way you could achieve this itinerary in SA booking independently for anything approaching the price. I think the Malta holiday, avoiding some of the boring sounding excursions (Ii.e.opportunities to hard sell you things on the way) sounds good as you are not changing hotels every night or two so they cannot force you to go on even the trips that are included. Might do that one in 2019 unless SA is a disaster. Hope this review helps others and happy holidays everyone.

Thanks very much for your contribution Sarah. 🙂

Brian Snellgrove

It would be quote a challenge to make SA a disaster. The locals are always friendly (don’t know about Joburg) and although prices have gone up somewhat you should get a reasonable exchange rate. 18R to the £ would be acceptable. I have been to SA 20 times. Watch out for robbers and keep your tourist artifacts out of the way. I have done a ton of SA reviews for Trip Advisor (bsnellgrove) so check them out. This does not say much about this company which I narrowly avoided going on. My destination was Marrakesh but the formula is the same. When I looked the aircraft that was supposed to leave from Stansted did not appear all day on flightradar24.com

Jan Eggleton

My friend and I are going to China with RSD travel next year. We have already had one week in Turkey so we have an idea of what we are letting ourselves in for. Hope to have some reviews before we go to give us an advantage.

Graham Wood

07 November 2017. We have just returned from North Cyprus with RSD and had an excellent holiday if a little busy. The trips to the carpet, jewellery and leather outlets took the better part of a day but the remainder was good. We flew with Freebird Airlines from Gatwick to Ercan via Antalya and both ends of the holiday left on time and arrived on time.

Lorraine Cottingham

Hi … having just returned from a trip with Morocco with RSD I would never ever travel with them again!

Lies and bullying to get you to buy all inclusive or extra add ins.

Hard sell stops for carpets, leather and jewellery … time which I can’t add back into my lifespan and would have been better spent gazing at the beautiful architecture or scenery.

Lousy food which was described as ‘sumptuous’ in the brochures ….. I still feel sick to the pit of my stomach thinking about it.

Lack of a contingency when most of our coach came down with a stomach virus … just plough on to the next stop and clench was all we could do!!!

Made the very most of it all though as there wasn’t a choice and the wonderful people on the tour and local folk met made up for a lot of the downsides.

I could go on but I won’t ….

Claire Woodbridge

Just returned from a week tour of Northern Cyprus with RSD.The negatives are, lack of information, with poor flight times which made the journey long and tiring.Flights were all on time and the stewardesses were very helpful.Should be able to prebook extra legroom seats as legroom not good on freebird for tall people. The other major niggle is the amount of time wasted at the factory visits, but we were aware of this as we had previously done Turkey tour. Our guide and driver were knowledgeable and pleasant,no hard selling of packages. The optional day tour and Cypriot evening was well worth doing. We had a small hotel Port View in Famagusta.Very comfortable and clean, limited but tasty food, nice indoor pool.Be prepped for prayer call from nearby mosque waking you up at 5_20 am!! In Girne we stayed at Oscar resort, delicious food with excellent selection and a half hour walk from town centre.Rather a tired hotel but clean and comfortable with small tatty beach, spa with sauna and plunge pool and outdoor pools, drained in the winter. We enjoyed the sites but the country is shabby and run down, the people we met were all very friendly and lunches out were good value and tasty. We hope our Morocco tour goes as well next February.

Pamela

please let me know how Morocco goes as I have booked for April and I am a single traveller.

Anna Blackburn

Did you go to Morocco with RSD, Pamela? I’m wondering what it’s like for a single traveller as I’ve put a deposit down on a trip next March to Croatia and Montenegro (with free cancellation up to 3 months before departure) and I’m going on my own. When I ask if there will be any other solo travellers, they say they can’t tell me. Were you the only one on your trip or not? And how did you find it? (I doubt you’ll see this though as we’re now in the year 2020).

Geoffrey R Veitch

I was about to make a booking with RDS after going through the brochure I was sent as a thankyou for being a member of the Royal British Legion. As always where possible I look for any reviews that have been made with regard to the holiday. From what I have just read, and I have read them all,I cannot see that The Royal British Legion would sanction or endorse this Company in any way.I can assure you that I shall be contacting the Legion to see what part if any they play in endorsing RDS.Thankyou to everyone who took the time to write a review and giving me the Heads Up.

You’re welcome Geoffrey. I know RSD do a great job in terms of marketing so perhaps the Royal British Legion is taking them at face value.

Would be interested to hear the feedback that you get from them. 🙂

Anna

Hello Pamela and Claire I’ve just discovered all these reviews and am wondering how you both found the Moroccan trip with RSD and what it’s like travelling on your own with them, Pamela? I’m really glad I’ve found these pages because I was thinking of booking this week to go to Morocco next March or April and this has stopped me rushing off to do so (they told me that places are going fast). I’ve never yet been on an RSD trip. I was always put off by thinking that everyone else would be in a couple or that I didn’t know if they were good enough to suggest to a friend to come with me. But now I’m thinking I might be better off going on an unguided trip to Fez, Marrakesh and Essaouira with three ladies at Christmas (weather cold?), which has come up. If you see this, I’d love to hear from you about your experience please. Thank you.

Rod Barnes

Hi Geffory, Did you write to the Legion of so what were their comments on RSD. Many thanks Rod w

Sheila Howie

We have booked the Dubai and Abu Dhabi tour April 2018 I would welcome information from other tourists who have used RSB for this experience.

CHRIS.P

WE HAD THE MOST BRILLIANT HOLIDAY IN THE EMIRATES WITH RSD TRAVEL

Julica

Hi, I would just like to say that I am really pleased that all the negative writers on this site are NEVER going on holiday with RSD again. I would hate to bump into you on any of the tours.

Surely there will be at least one person in your group that won’t agree with the bullying and extortion tactics that RSD Travel are known for? I certainly think so.

Mr Pen

One 70+ lady on our tour had a panic attack after being hassled to buy jewellery? Explain to me how this is acceptable?

Lynne

Am I to assume your a rep for RSD then?

We are currently on the Northern Cyprus tour and pretty much everything you have said is identical to what we are experiencing now…stay away from RSD at all costs, they need reporting to ABTA/ATOl which we intend to do on our return, people can’t continue to be scammed and extorted by these charlatans

Sorry to hear about your experience Mr Pen. 🙁 Keep reporting and let’s hope that more people boycott them as it’s just not right what they’re getting away with.

Alison Grim

Me and my husband done the turkey trip, and there was good and bad points. The worst is the hard sell in these factories . We didn’t buy anything my husband said that if they left me alone to look I would probably buy a leather coat he then had the nerve to say he was staying with me in case I pinched something. I was furious and left straight away.. It was the first time for us in turkey and I loved the country so we’ve been back twice since for a holiday and with no pressure I did buy a leather coat and a large rug. I did find a week tiring another week would have been nice to chill. We also met some lovely people and still keep in contact in fact two couples are staying at ours next month for the weekend. We have booked another holiday with rsd to India in may the reason being I thought maybe it was just the people in turkey were pushy so I am a bit concerned it seems all red holidays are the same . Have anyone been to the two week one in India and give me some tips. I’m hearing I need to keep covered up all the time. We now know about the buying of meals etc so that isn’t going to be a problem we’ve already bought the dinner package and will buy the lunch package when we are there but we are not buying the add on for 3 other trips I think we are doing enough. I will let people know what it was like and if this will be the last time with rsd or if I will continue to go on their holidays

Ruby

Hi Alison When do you go to India? Thinking of that one myself…

Anne

Hi Ruby, we’re going to India end of September and can’t wait. Going with an open mind but have taken into account all the other travellers experiences and will review the trip.

Christine Nunney

How was the trip to India

Brilliant – do keep us all posted on your India trip Alison. 🙂 We’ve been all over India and I’d highly suggest covering knees and shoulders etc. as you’ll be stared at a lot less which will make the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. Good luck!

Bernard Lancaster

My wife and I went with this company in February 2015 to Turkey and had the full works in the deal, which was reasonably priced. Unfortunately there were quite a few down sides to the tour, the hotels were not equipped for the winter, with the bedrooms being freezing with little heat being available, long coach tours with little time at the places of interest, factory stops (although I never went into any of them) but the worse experience I had was from our fellow passengers as I refused to fill in the questionnaire from the guide as to his performance as the questionnaire had our name and booking number printed on it. This was announced by the guide over the coach’s speaker system. Because of this I was abused verbally by several passengers on the coach, especially by one woman who walked the length of the coach in order to harangue me. Never again.

Carlo

Sorry to hear about your experience Bernard. It’s an all too familiar story, as you can see from the many, many comments on this post alone. Their Google reviews also paint a very bad picture for RSD as a travel and tour operator.

Hopefully more and more potential customers read this post and comments so that they can make an informed decision about whether or not to book with RSD.

Cheap prices are a smokescreen for a cheap experience imo.

Shelly

Has anyone done their Israel tour? I would love to hear more as due to go in 10 days.

I filled in the form and cut the guide’s behaviour to shreds. He did not read out any comments.

Nuala O'Sullivan

Has anyone travelled to Crete with RSD – we’ve paid our deposit for travelling in November 2018 from Dublin. We haven’t opted for the evening meals. Thanks a million.

Allan Smith

Have also booked Crete for 3/11/18, no evening meals but bit concerned that nothing else will be available, it seems to be a bit of a rip off. What dates are you going ?

sarah

We are also travelling to crete in November the 4th not 3rd! we ended up booking evening meals as there was a bit of hard sell on the phone from travel agent, and advised us that most restaurants etc would be closed that time of year and better to take dinner package, also tried to sell us travel insurance but I stood my ground and told her I had my own annual travel insurance, im a little bit sceptical about trip and hate the whole selling thing. very wrong to try and cash in on tourists, we are not all rich tourists and some of us on a tight budget!

Pat Kight

I am going to Crete on the 27th October just got flight details should be from and to Manchester but they state a stopover at gatwick on the way back. Have rang them and they say it is just to drop people off. Anyone else had to do this?

Pam Shawcross

Hi, how did you find this trip? We’re going to Crete 17th November and are worried by all the negative reports of bullying guides etc. Would be interested in your experience.

Chantale

Thank you so much for your blog. It stopped me from booking a north Turkish tour. I feel sorry for their Call centre staff who have to flog their packages as they don’t have much choice. I advised my sales person to go and read the reviews on trust pilot and to find herself a job with a more reputable company. A from 149 £ flight per person ended up to £483 each which was still a good buy but the horrendous experience of other travellers swung it for me.

You’re welcome Chantale and I hope we’ve saved you from having a bad experience as the call centre staff are just the tip of the iceberg! As you say, it’s still good value for money given the price but it’s the bully tactics and the extortion that makes the price totally irrelevant. I hope you find yourself a better company to travel with. 🙂

jenny

Hie Would like to find out if anyone as been to Israel, just want to find out what to expect. I am going on the 4th November

Henry Rose

After the full monies were paid I got the travel documents, this was the first indication of going to Heraklion via Glasgow. When we landed at Prestwick we had to disembark nobody told us why. I was taken there against my will. We then had to go through security having already done so in Dublin. Most passengers were body searched (male and female), females had to show the inside of their waistband on their skirts/trousers and knickers in full view of all the other disembarked passengers waiting to go through security. Bottles of liquid purchased in Dublin Airport were seized – a disgrace. My wife’s medication was seized having purchased it airside (post security) in Dublin. She was told to buy another one! She had neither the time nor inclination to do that. To make matters worse on the return flight at the very last minute the passengers from Scotland were informed that they did not have to disembark. Why was this? Obviously Irish passengers are treated and seen as second class and any treatment will suffice. You may say this is a matter for the authorities in each country but that is not true. The flight could have originated in Prestwick and picked us up in Dublin without us having to go through security twice, which was the case with the returning Scots passengers. So it was within the control of RSD but they obviously do not give a fig about Irish passengers and any discommoding of us. The Irish passengers were not a happy lot on the flight out and stayed the same when we arrived at our particular hotel. We arrived at about 5am and after something to eat were informed that the tour next day would start at 10am, some people were so tired they opted out to recover. The hotel (Solimar Dias) was definitely not a 4 or 5 star hotel and is even classed as 3 stars in the local guide. The room was adequate. It was clean and the staff very good and friendly same with the food. The only thing was the plethora of cats which was okay except that they got free range of the dining room during meal times which anywhere else would be considered a health hazard!! Every morning we had very early starts, only one was post 9am due to getting to bed at 6am that morning after the flight, the other was at 9am to facilitate the leather factory not the clients otherwise it was pre 9am. Other travelers on our trip had later starts at 10am and 11am. This could have been rotated to allow an equal share of early and late starts? Having traveled with you before and enjoyed my trip to Cappadocia I was expecting the same standard of hotels but that was not the case they (the hotels) were of a much lower standard. The guide suited himself and constantly from the time we arrived until departure was pressing for tips and purchases in the outlets. Do RSD not pay them or pay them sufficiently? I have never known a Turk or Greek to work for nothing so I think that answers the question. We had virtually no free time to explore ourselves or spend time together. We made up for this by slipping away at lunchtimes to look around but this time was very short. In conclusion given this experience I have decided not to travel with RSD again. I kept the guest questionnaire to fill in on my return from the trip rather than return it to the guide and he suppress it. You may also suppress this email but I will post it up online and inform all my family, friends, relations and acquaintances of my experience and discourage them from going on trips with RSD.

Your experience sounds disastrous Henry but I’m really not surprised. I wrote this review to warn other travellers about RSD and their tactics so your comment will help to inform others of what to expect.

Thanks for your input and good thinking in keeping the report so that the guide can’t suppress it. Wishing you a more enjoyable time on your next trip, without RSD of course.

John

Aside from RSD you will find if you book a trip locally in Turkey if usually has a ‘stopover’ at some ‘factory’ or other with high-pressure salespeople who sometimes can be thought of as rude – I have found this is quite ‘normal’ to them but to Brits and other western Europeans it’s a bit intimidating. It similar to the bazaars in all Turkish/Asian cities, give them a glance or show any interest, and before you know what’s happening you inside and just about to get your wallet out, I know it’s hard but this is their way of doing ‘business’ (it’s called bartering) it can seem cold to just say no and walk away, they may hassle you but usually if you stand your ground and offer some very low price the onus is back on them, but that’s the way it works! It’s perfectly legal to barter. Tip – never pay the first or second lower price you get, think what you think it’s worth and please don’t buy unless you think its worth it.

Cam

We are just back from the Northern Turkey trip. we found it to be good value despite the add-ons. If you do not wish to buy stuff just say no firmly and they will leave you alone. We had Selin as guide and Amash as driver (please excuse spelling)who were both excellent. The first hotel was a vast complex with a ‘Temple theme’ but the food was good and the choice massive. The second was a smaller place up a hill and the accommodation was fine and the food excellent. We had a right laugh with a number of couples and holiday was good fun. Would we repeat-probably not as we tend to wish more chill time but value for money even with all the add-ons I cannot fault.

Gill

Just returned from Morocco, food great, guides great, hotels varied from good to excellent, value for money fantastic even with the ‘add-ons’ which were worth it. Met some lovely people. Would definitely travel with rsd again.

Anne

Wow! What a lot of interesting comments here. We went to Cappadocia with RSD in March 2014, and it was fascinating. The guide was great apart from his elastic approach to time-keeping, and we had the early starts/extra stops /baffling hotels experienced by others. But on the whole it was good value for money and gave us the opportunity to see a part of Turkey which was difficult to reach independently. Now we have recovered from that trip we are going to South Africa in August…with eyes wide open to the potential pitfalls of that kind of trip. At no point on our first trip were we treated unkindly or rudely by anyone and I’m so sorry other people have been.

Janet Jackson

My friend and I take regular holidays together and, last December we took the RSD holiday to Northern Cypress. We took advantage of the evening meals offer (reasonably priced). The flight out came with an excellent meal, possibly the best I have ever been served on a flight, and after minor chaos at our destination, all found their relevant coaches and we headed for our hotel. More confusion at the hotel, we were given room keys and left to find our rooms ourselves. The hotel was quite a rambling afair, with paths leading off through gardens, to doors leading to various blocks of double rooms. After returning to reception and demanding assistance to find our room, we were eventually able to settle in. A beautiful room with a coastal view and balcony, with a double and single bed, I took the single by the balcony door, which was wedged open all night, it was so hot! Food was great, restaurant right on the sea shore, staff couldn’t have done more for us. The trips each day were exhausting, we seemed to be rushing everywhere, in order to fit in all the day’s itinerary. The second hotel was bizarre, with a mezzanine bedroom and wall lights with such low powered bulbs, it was dangerous on the stairs. I went to reception and insisted on the bulbs being changed for more powerful ones. The hotel was Medieval Castle themed with heavy red velvet curtains, dark wood panelling and the odd suit of armour, to add to the ambience. The food wasn’t as good, little choice and some strange combinations. However the bar food was excellent and after the restaurant was moved due to flooding of the basement and some bedrooms, we ate in the bar. With only 2 nights to go, I awoke in the morning to discover tiny black insects in my bed. Lifting up the pillow sent a dozen or more running for safety. The Manageress checked the bed with a magnifying glass, ( they were so tiny) and gave us another room. There was nothing else offered or mentioned. Don’t get me started about the retail outlets. My friend bought a rug and I went to the loo while she did the paperwork. I shouldn’t have left her because when I returned, she had bought another. The jewellers was even worse. They took one look at my jewellery and decided that I was loaded, but I do know the worth of the stones displayed. I was whisked off so that they could “persuade”me to purchase tanzanite earrings and a ring. £19,000 for the ring and £3,500 for the earrings, which he offered to give me as an incentive to buy the ring. I wouldn’t have given him £3,500 for the ring, never mind the earrings. He gave up eventually and I escaped to find my friend. She had been treated the same, ferreted away whilst they worked on her. Against her better judgement, they got her to buy ring, pendant and earrings when all she had wanted was a ring. She still hasn’t told me exactly how much she spent, but it must have been in the region of £10,000! The leather outlet got both of us. However she did want a red jacket but not for £1,400! I found a white jacket and was in love. I gave a deposit of £250 as I was unable to remember my credit card pin. On our return, I eventually discovered that they would not take a credit card payment over the phone, they demanded a cash transfer. I am still trying to resolve it, no jacket, no £250! Strangely enough, Kyrenia Leather is also the outlet we visited in Crete in April, where they said I could buy a coat from them and they would deduct the £250, however they wouldn’t take payment from my credit card without the pin, or over the phone. Same old same old!! I’m still trying to retrieve my deposit and we won’t be going on another RSD holiday, I don’t need the aggravation. Janet J

Wow Janet – thank you so much for your contribution and I’m sorry to hear about the jacket and your friend’s experience. 🙁

Hopefully, your experience will warn other travellers and prevent them from falling victim to RSD and their scamming tactics. As I said in the review, we were told that the owners of RSD offer cheap holidays with the intention of getting a stream of tourists into these factories, which they have a stake in.

Thanks again and I hope you get your money back.

Marion Wilcock

We went on the Cappadocia trip a couple of years ago and whilst we seriousy disliked the guide, it gave us the chance to see a wonderful part of the world we would have had difficulty visiting independently. The outlets were pushy, but no more than those imposed on us during a trip to China organised by the Royal Horticultural Society at huge cost. Our flights were all on time and comfortable. This is more than be said of an expensive flight to New York with BA who lost our luggage and left us with no clothes but the ones we stood up in for five days. We are thinking of going on the Croatia & Montenegro trip with our eyes open. Has anyone else done this trip and what are their comments ?

ANN Longton

I WENT TO N. CYPRUS AND WOULD NEVER TRAVEL WITH THEM AGAIN. A VERY UPSETTING TIME WITH BULLYING SALESPEOPLE IN CARPET AND JEWELLERY FACTORIES. SUPPOSED TO BE A CULTURAL TOUR BUT IT WAS ABOUT SELLING TO THEIR VICTIMS. PLIED US WITH ALCOHOL ON THE COACH BEFORE WE WENT INTO THE WAREHOUSES. IF YOU SAID YOU DIDNT WANT TO GO IN YOU WERE PRESSURISED INTO IT. PAID OVER THE ODDS FOR JEWELLERY HAVE HAD IT VALUED AT GOLDSMITHS AND IT IS NOT WORTH WHAT WE PAID. COMPLAINED TO RSD BUT THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED.

Kay Roberts

Went to Northern Cyprus and had a good time, hotels and food excellent Only had one factory tour and wasn’t pressured to buy anything. Missed out l day as felt exhausted by early starts, however this is normal on most coach tours even very expensive ones in America. Think they are good value.

John

We have been with RSD three times, Turkey Rhodes in 2017 excellent trip guide very good hotels good no pressure from salesmen. 2018 Sril Lanka fantastic good guide fantastic people hotels good . 2019 Morocco very good trip second week excellent, we could all pick foults if you are looking for them due to the price ,put that aside and look at what you are getting overall, I would say the Sri Lanka trip was definitely the best would do it again we were probably lucky good reps, good hotels good food what more can you ask.

I’ve paid the deposit (with free cancellation until 3 months before departure) for the RSD trip to Croatia and Montenegro in March 2021. I’ll be going on my own (a) because they had no rooms for two left and (b) because I’ve never yet been on an RSD trip and, in view of all the comments, don’t feel I can bring someone else along when it might be a bad experience. Has anyone else been on this particular trip? I’d also love to hear from anyone who has taken any holiday with RSD on their own how you found it? Thank you.

Joe Finnerty

Hi Florence, my mum just got a letter from RSD (as a ‘valued customer’ although she had never used them before) offering the usual ‘too-good-to-be-true’ discount on a 15-day tour of Croatia and Montenegro, discounted from €1149 to €299 pps. She asked me to check it out online, so am delighted to have found this fair and informative blog – many thanks and best wishes! Joe F

RSD Tyler – Chicago Free Tour

  • RSD Tyler – Chicago Free…

rsd free tour review

Hey there, got a cool surprise for you today. The entire Chicago Free Tour! It’s going to reveal to you RSD’s “Top 10 Secrets In The Game” by each year, as I experienced them. You’ll learn HOW I stumbled onto these ideas, and the type of learning process to use to supercharge YOUR OWN journey to mastery in the game as well.

Hey It’s TYLER & Here’s A Few Quick Pages I Put Together To Get You “In The Loop” About The New FREE TOUR Running In Cities All Over The World

(and most likely coming to or near your town).

This is one of the craziest things I’ve done in my life, so have a read down this page and I’ll give you the scoop.

A few years ago Nick (Papa of RSD) and I got the idea to create a totally free program that would allow you to experience a Real Social Dynamics live event no matter where you lived in the world.

The stated goals for this program were the following…:

  • To fill your head with so many bleeding edge “RSD in house secrets” on success with girls, social dynamics, and self actualization that you left with your head spinning in disbelief. (Ideally unable to sleep properly, and feeling like you’re going to vomit…in a good way!)
  • To entertain you, shock you, amuse you, and basically just make it the wildest “blast dose” of learning you’ve ever experienced.
  • To leave you with significant and tangible improvements in your life, so that you could look back at the Free Tour event you attended as something that was valuable and profound.

Now to run a tour of this magnitude was like solving a puzzle of transportation, time, budgeting, and logistics, because we wanted hit every major city in the world.

But that’s exactly what we did!

Within 2 years we successfully ran RSD Free Tour events in over 260 cities in 75 countries, which was nearly every major “developed” city that exists and isn’t a crazy war zone.

Personally I was amazed to see Nick (Papa) and the team pull this off, and as I read the pile of raving reviews I secretly wished I could be traveling on the road doing the Free Tour events as well.

(It was simply a lack of time and having a family at home that prevented me from getting involved.)

Well finally after years of wanting to do it, last Spring I was able to start up on a Free Tour of my own, and designed a new curriculum of our best content, exercises, and infield video footage to BLOW PEOPLE AWAY at the free event.

I then travelled to several cities a month and focused on making every event better and crazier and more intense. The reviews were super enthusiastic as I exerted a lot of effort into it, and the event grew into something powerful for students and me personally.

Well finally this month, after all the crazy work that went into building the ultimate free event, I ran out of cities and was honestly feeling bummed out about it…

So I decided to create a Free Tour PART 3!!

This was a big decision as it means leaving my newborn son back in Los Angeles for periods of time, but I felt so strongly about the awesomeness of this program that I wanted to do a final series of events.

That being the case, I’ve recently added a FINAL FULL YEAR of Free Tour events, and the Free Tour will basically be my full focus for the entire coming year of my life.

My goal is to make this the craziest thing I’ve ever done. EPIC.

I’ve committed to every event possible within proximity to me, and then to allow people in Europe, Canada, and Australia to get in on the action, I’ve also arranged for the exact same Free Tour 3 curriculum to be taught by other big name instructors (Jeffy, Papa, Ozzie, Alex, and Brad).

(These guys are absolutely awesome. I’ve brought them into my inner circle for important reasons – they’re the best of the best, and inspirational to everyone they meet.)

The Free Tour is about YOU and YOUR EXPERIENCE.

It’s my own personal challenge to educate you, entertain you, mess with you, and reveal secrets to you that will change your life forever, as much as is possible by the laws of physics within the few hours that I have.

To do this I unleash an arsenal of tools onto your vulnerable brain…and TRANSFORM IT.

That means giving you the best that I have within a few hours…

  • My latest “seminar material” which means the EXACT new paradigms I’ve gained from the past year of traveling the world, meeting with people on Free Tours, watching videos of myself at Hot Seat events, and running Bootcamps (I’ve learned more this past year than any year of my life).
  • My most recent hidden camera infield video footage, to open your eyes to what’s possible when you’ve been doing this for nearly a decade, and reveal how to get the same results in much less time.
  • Personalized “Question & Answer” periods to provide breakthrough-epiphanies for your most frustrating challenges in particular.
  • (And finally, a bunch of “secret sauce” I’ve built into this event I’m not going to reveal, but is designed to shock you into changing the way you think PERMANENTLY. This is the magic I’ve been able to learn from years of teaching you this important set of ideas.)

The past decade of my life has been devoted to nothing but the study of how regular guys (like YOU) can become EXCEPTIONAL at getting girls.

It’s lead me in many fascinating directions that I never would have expected when I got into it, and down into many rabbit holes that I never knew could exist.

This Free Tour is about OPENING YOUR EYES to these astonishing insights, and whether you’re new, intermediate, or ragingly advanced, to send you out that same night armed with powerful tools that will make an immediate difference in your results.

A Dream: RSD Free Tour Review

I had a dream I went to an RSD Free Tour Event. Any similarity to actual events is purely a coincidence. This is a piece of creative writing and is in no way based on reality. I’m a complete fool and everything I say is madness. Everyone knows it.

With that said, here is an account of that dream:

Viva daygame.

rsd free tour review

RSD Travel invite you (on arrival) to buy the “Optional extra” Culture and dinner package for £110.00. For this you get all admission fees and guided tours plus evening dinner. OK so the price is now £259 which still looks pretty good value to me but if you don’t buy this package – and the next “optional package”…..well read on and find out.

So you are still on for the trip great because there is an Explorer package I want to tell you about. This package includes a trip to Aspendos, a Turkish night out and the whirling dervishes show plus 6 lunches a total for £85.

You buy the “optional extras” from the tour guide – our guide told certain members of our party quite frankly and forcibly that if they didn’t buy both packages he wouldn’t know what to do with them and the free day would be at an hotel miles from anywhere. On our trip initially about 4 people chose not to accept the whole package, he was very unhappy, he clearly did not like dissenters. Eventually they all agreed.

So there you have it, the” real” price is now up to £344 throw in tips, visa and insurance plus the all important bottles of water and you are up to say £425.

Although far from £149 but for a more realistic £425 you can have 6 days touring some of the amazing sights of the world together with an insight to another culture.

Perhaps you would also like to read my other article “Turkey with RSD Travel, Antalya to Cappadocia Price £425 all in but plus drinks”.

Would I use RSD again? No. I don’t think that there marketing technique is honest. I have complained about RSD Travel to PetPlan the association from whom we received the marketing brochure. I recommend reading the Trip Advisor “RSD Travel brochure” articles on the tales of travelers who choose not to take up the “optional, £110” and the “optional” – “optional extra” the Explorer £85 option. Not happy reading.

Need to ask, if you had a bad experience the first time why did you book again with RSD?

Unfortunate you contracted Whooping Cough, but that could have happened anywhere and not the fault of your tour company.

Best Wishes, Hope you get well soon.

Yes we went in October 2016. It was not bad, considering ALL hotels in Dubai are luxurious. However would not recommend to pay for extra tours (usually £110.00 per person ) which are a con from RSD. I must warn you that you will be "forced" to visit carpet & jewellery shops in Dubai run by a Turkish mafia (do not go, stay in the coach). The Turkish male sales assistants in jewelley shops will bully you to buy. When confronted about their extortionate prices, they become rude.

The worst experience is having Turkish tour guides who are soooooooooooo.......rude and condescending that you feel degraded as a human being. We paid £625.00 per person at the end - its not worth it at the end.

This would never have happened in Dubai. So you are wrong making your comments.

I'm in Morocco at present with RSD and I wish I was at home.

Whilst the country itself is worth seeing, the standard of hotels used is poor and the promise of sumptuous buffets with local and traditional cooking is down right lies. The food is of an extremely low standard and the same everyday. Any meat that is served is the cheapest cuts IE chicken wings and boney, fatty lamb.

Hotel staff are rude and treat you like an inconvenience and as I found out tonight can be aggressive.

As for the cost, it initially looks good but by the time you add on the extras it isn't really cheap.

Personally, I think it's a con.

You should write (recorded deliver letter) to Mrs. Ellen Platt - the managing director of RSD and present your complaint stating that the offer was a mis-selling of business. You should also ask for compensation of your costs. If they refuse, write them another letter and state that you will seek compensation in the small claims court. My daughter who is a lawyer has demanded a compensation of 50% of what I had paid and we received a cheque for this amount from RSD. This is a German/Turkish company who do run business conning people. Do not give up, and get what you are entitled to at the end. Alternatively contact ABTA - they can deal with your complaint.

We went on a so called cultural tour of Northern Cyprus. The departure airport was changed which at least 4 people failed to notice and may others had booked hotel and train fares before the change.

There was heavy pressure to but the meals and extra trips package which most people succumbed to , because they were told there was nowhere else to eat. I n the case of both hotels there were local restaurants within half a mile of the hotel.

The cultural information was hard to follow and often inaccurate and the pressure to buy imported goods from isolated outlets came from RSD agents as well as the sellers.I would not recommend this as a cultural tour and the information on the availability of restaurants was a down right lie.

For anyone interested in RSD trip to Dubai check out the 180 posts RSD Travel Ltd., 8 Day trip to Abu Dhabi & Dubai on this site.

I totally agree with your comments.

We have had a similar experience, and in addition an awfully rude, highly strung, neurotic Turkish female tour guide, who was continuously degrading British tourists.

I would never recommend RSD Travel to anyone.

Save some more money guys and travel with Tropical sky or Kenwood travel who are THE BEST !!!!!

Enjoyable India Cultural Tour

India Cultural Tour. A very enjoyable trip indeed. The tour host was Raees, ably supported by driver Ravi and Mith. Needs and expectations were fully met on this out first visit to India. There is a lot of travel but the coach and all the hotels were comfortable.

If you can get through the obligatory visits to (1) a carpet "factory" (ie pushy sales outlet), (2) jewellers & (3) leather clothes outlet, I'd rate the Cappadocia tour quite good. Good knowledgeable guide. Beware of the leather "factory" fashion show if you are disturbed by rapidly flashing lights - made me feel nauseous. The main problems with RSD were their business model "drip pricing" (budgeting is near impossible) and withholding information until the last minute. Despite several budget flights per day to Antalya from my local airport (15 min away), we had to endure a 5 hour journey to Gatwick and an overnight stay and RSD didn't provide the flight information until a week before travel - by letter snail mail from Germany, when all previous communication was via speed-of-light email. This meant high late booking prices for public transport and the hotel, costing another £200 on top of the holiday.

Great value for money holiday. 7 day cultural tour staying at 2 hotels. Both hotels 4* and very high quality facilities. Food is a buffet very much catering for German customers but great variety. "Free 8 day" part of the holiday was at a 5* hotel excellent facilities again, really nothing to find fault in.

The worst travel agent I ever traveled with….. careless… we travel to Cyprus, after heavy rain my sister slipped in morning on unmarked floor (yellow sign with wet floor) and she hurt herself badly (started shaking her body on floor) nobody from hotel staff was available to help. She received help from German doctor on vacation. No incident reported neither local clinic called ambulance but they kept her at clinic covered for 4 hours without food and charged her £200 for this stay… horrible situation and experience and ruined holiday. Please avoid at any costs and forget about “good” price - it’s no worth it!!!!👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

We travelled with RSD on a 2 week trip to Croatia and Montenegro. The first week was cultural visits to Dubrovnik, Split, Mostar etc. Hotels were absolutely brilliant apart from 1 night in Medjagore. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately the weather was not and it rained heavily but that of course has nothing to do with the travel company. The second week In Montenegro was sunny and very warm, we stayed at Pearl Beach resort, our room was excellent. It’s a large complex with one buffet style restaurant. We paid for full board and all inclusive which was worth it. The restaurant did get busy but the food was varied and good plenty of choice for everyone. No problem with loungers by the pool and the beach was rough sand. The resort itself was just setting up for summer so not everything was open but our hotel catered for everything. Overall a good holiday for the price no real problems and I would recommend.

This organisation leaves a lot to be desired. I suppose you get what you pay for. My experience was disappointing and truly unpleasant. The guide was dreadful and very disparaging if you did not want to join the activities. E.g visit to a carpet cooperative, or leather goods facility, or jewellery making experience. Herded into a room, doors were locked and a swarm of salesmen harassing you to buy. The descriptions are deceptive and the expectation does not meet the experience. This was a trip to Turkey a few years ago 2015, but has left a very unpleasant memory. I have written to them and received no reply. Have asked them to stop sending me their leaflets and adverts for further trips but this has been ignored. Will never travel with them again.

A survey has revealed the travel agencies whom holidaymakers are most likely to experience problems with.

Holidaymakers who booked with RSD Travel, a cultural tour operator that sells trips in cooperation with national newspapers and magazines, were the most likely to face problems according to the survey from consumer group Which?.

(Poll: Which? Travel)

Incompetent holiday reps

More than two in five respondents (41 per cent) reported that they had encountered a problem on an escorted tour with RSD Travel, which advertises reader offers in newspapers including The Times and The Mirror.

Nearly one third (30 per cent) of people experienced an issue travelling with Jules Verne. And nearly a quarter (24 per cent) of package holidaymakers who booked with British travel giant Thomas Cook reported a problem, the survey found.

Inadequate accommodation, incompetent holiday reps and poor customer service topped the list of problems encountered by Which? members in the survey of 6,945 holiday experiences.

Not-so-sumptuous buffets

Chief among the problems specific to RSD was that it didn’t deliver on its promises, the consumer group said.

One customer complained that they were promised “sumptuous buffets” on one occasion, and instead ended up eating a cheese roll while standing in reception.

However, Jet 2 Holidays, InnTravel and Inghams all managed to keep their customers mostly happy, with less than one in 10 having a problem with their holiday, according to the survey.

i contacted RSD Travel requesting comment.

Beware of hidden costs!

We’d travelled previously twice with this company so we thought we knew what to expect with booking. However things have gone downhill rapidly. We have been offered a huge discount on various destinations and tried to book one of them. The price used to include breakfast and evening meal in the first week but you need to book locally for meals during the second week. Now it’s advised to purchase the evening meals for the first week at a special price at time of booking, so no longer included. Fair enough except having been on these out of season trips, THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE TO EAT as everywhere is either closed or much too far away to get to. This is not made clear in their leaflets OR when you try to book unless you question it. This adds on to your booking an extra £130+ per person. Then on the second week you need to purchase a meal package locally. Soooooo…. A holiday advertised as low as £230 per person now w becomes around £475 per person if you want to eat in the evening during the first week or at all during the second week. YES it is s good deal even at that price, BUT, most people that use these cheap deals are pensioners who book them because of the price and wouldn’t otherwise go abroad because of cost. I feel that this is an unfair marketing tactic. ALL costs should be included in the price, so they should revise the price accordingly. I gave up today and probably will never use them again, pity, because we’d have used them much more otherwise.

Croatia, Montenegro & Bosnia

Good trip, with the usual stops for carpets, jewellery etc - you know the score. One very nice and fancy hotel but in the main, most hotels are pretty basic, slightly better than Travelodge but this could be because these were the best that they had. Top Tip: Especially for Brits - kettles and tea & coffee are NOT provided in 99% of the hotel rooms; appears that this is just not the done thing so bring your travel kettle and teas & coffees if you want an early morning cuppa or a drink before bed. Also, in almost all the stops, food was reasonably readily available so no real need to go for their evening meals, which I think are a bit on the pricey side.

Just back from a tour of Croatia

Just back from a tour of Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina & Montenegro. This was our 4th RSD trip in 9 years so we knew what to expect. We enjoyed the tour, our guide Suat was mostly professional, funny & not too pushy. Our driver Joseph was excellent. As always the hotels are pot luck with a couple of very good ones & the rest mediocre. The last hotel in which we were staying for a week was disappointing because the rooms were very dated & had lots of things wrong with them. We opted for the dinner package for the first week but really we didn't have to as there were plenty of restaurants/cafés nearby to be able to get an evening meal. Also it really is about time RSD stopped calling the dinner package "Gourmet" as there is nothing remotely gourmet about it & there never has been. We avoided the all inclusive the second week & were glad we did as we were tired of buffet meals & there were plenty of places to eat out. Plus the inclusive drinks were very limited & of poor quality. As with all RSD tours you can have an enjoyable time if you have realistic expectations for the price you've paid. Also the guide & fellow travellers can make or break the trip & we were lucky this time.

We travelled to DUBAI this year and…

We travelled to DUBAI this year and despite the trip being undeniably an opportunity to pressure sell everything from leather, carpets to jewellery , it was still good value and the hotels and organisation excellent. Just say no to all the add on extra trips (you can do them cheaper yourself) REFUSE to go into the factory visits ( we found somewhere to have a coffee instead and just made sure we were back early for the pick up) . It was a good trip and enabled us to see a lot of sights and landmarks at a very reasonable cost for Dubai

RSD IS EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY

We have been with RSD twice and the experience was EXCELLENT value for money. I cannot understand what the whingers expect for the price they paid for a 7 day holiday with flights, trips, accommodation and breakfast included. This a grea, cheap way to have a well conducted cultural trip around fascinating areas of the world. My advice. Go for it, don’t expect anything much for the price an be pleasantly surprised. DONT go if you are not physically fit. Lots of walking over terrain which is not always flat

Three great holidays.

I have used RSD three times and had a great holiday on each occasion. The holidays were excellent value in good to excellent hotels. You have to bear on mind that you will have three visits to out of town warehouses that will try to flog you handmade carpets, silver and leather. If you don't want to buy, you can go off to the coffee shop and wait for the others. The guides have been good and the hotel food excellent.

A positive experience

We travelled to Croatia, Montenegro in November not sure what to expect as reviews seemed to be mixed. We were pleasantly surprised, our guide Suat was amazing, the hotels on route were generally good, some were very good. We saw some interesting places along the way. Yes we were taken to carpet and jewellery factories, a bit of enthusiastic selling but easy to withdraw from. All in all, happy with our 2 week break in November.

I have been on 2 holidays with RSD and have thoroughly enjoyed them. The North Cyprus tour was brilliant. We had an additional 7 days at a 5 star hotel. The hotel was in a remote setting but we actually enjoyed relaxing in such a beautiful setting and the use of the fabulous spa. You are paying a mere pittance to enjoy the holidays they provide. We went on the 7 day tour to Turkey which meant moving from hotel to hotel but we saw some incredible places we would never have visited. The food on the tour to Turkey was not great but the North Cyprus tour was excellent.

UNBELIEVABLE RIPP OFF SHOW

I have recently enquired with RSD Travel if I could get a partial refund for a tour booked to Morocco as my son is no longer able to travel with me. We were booked for 2 weeks, flights included in a double room sharing. They have just informed me that there will be ZERO refund and it will be an additional 200 pounds for me to travel single. They are not willing to refund any of the dinners that I have prebooked even though none of these have even been catered for yet as we are only due to travel on February 17th. I am outraged and in absolute shock and disbelief. This is beyond extortion. So what they are trying to say is that for me to travel to Morocco from the UK for 2 weeks incl flights will now cost me in excess of 1000 pounds. Would you book with them? I think not

Great value , great holiday experience.

Great value for money and you get exactly what is described in the brochure. RSD charter flights with Freebird, some disruption in Antalya for the onward flights (but no fault of RSD), and an English speaking guide on arrival in Cyprus. 4 star hotel for the 1st week, with buffet breakfast - optional evening buffet (which we declined) and ate out locally. Great value and easy to find local restaurants. Great choice of included tours, with the obligatory visits to a leather, carpet and jewellery factory - all known about in advance, but still very pushy ! Tour guide was ok, but obviously on commission for sales of optional tours, food packages and purchases at outlets. 2nd week relaxing at a 5 star hotel on the beach, breakfast included. A very busy hotel, but plenty of room to sunbathe around the pools and beach areas. Optional evening meal and drinks package, which we again declined - ate out to support local businesses. Overall very good value. A lovely holiday experience, lovely scenery, great friendships, - but read the brochure carefully to ensure you know what you are signing up to, and you won't be disappointed.

Dear Lindsay Jessop, We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your holiday. Customer satisfaction and high quality are top priorities for us and it is great to hear that we are on the right track. We are glad that you were able to indulge the fantastic culture and beautiful landscapes - also the local cuisine! We hope to welcome you on another one of our tours soon. Kind Regards, RSD Travel Ltd.

We have had many holidays with RSD

We have had many holidays with RSD. Turkey (more than once) Cyprus (more than once) Rhodes, South Africa and Morocco. We are looking forward to India later this year 2019. You do get exactly what is offered on the 'basic' priced trips - ie. flights from airport of your choice (regional and seasonal supplements do apply as they do with other holiday companies). Plus basic tours as listed, and bed and breakfast accommodation. The tours always offer the chance to purchase - if you wish - items of locally produced goods. Everything is your choice. The opportunity to visit factories and workshops and accept the hospitality given is part of the culture, on what are cultural trips. Sit back listen learn and enjoy!

Want a beach hotel? Limited mobility?Don`t go!

Tour to Croatia, B&H and Montenegro with extension hotel "on the beach", my 6th with RSD. Asked for change of hotel (refused) because it was 270mtrs from the beach and separated from it by 4 other hotels, construction works and a busy dual carriageway. My wife was recovering from a broken leg and was therefore unable to negotiate the distance and 150 steps to the beach. The beach itself was covered in debris and not fit for holiday activity. An RSD email stated this holiday was unsuitable for a person with limited mobility but was unable to point to where this was explained in the documentation for this or any other RSD tour. RSD promised to contact me about this complaint on my return. They didn`t. They rejected my written complaint about the clearly misleading description of the holiday and continue to defend the indefensible. They also failed to commit to changing their advertising material so that future customers were not adversely affected. By the way, the food at the hotel was abysmal. RSD have been pretty good in the past but selling, and continuing to sell holidays under false pretences really is a step too far. Their attitude has been crushingly disappointing. My advice to potential customers is to think carefully before booking with RSD as, like me, they may not get what they believe they have paid for. Goodbye RSD, hello ABTA complaints procedure. Goodby

We have just returned from the Cultural tour of Isreal really enjoyed it although we had to fly to Istanbul then on to Tel Aviv the airline Turkish Airlines were great drinks and food.We did have early get ups but with all tours you have to set off early,I was amazed at what we saw and how much we paid,we did have a free day.We booked one optional tour to the Dead Sea which was great. This is our 3rd holiday with this company, our guide Youram was brilliant.

Overpriced factory outlets with RSD Travel

My partner and I did RSD's "cultural tour of Crete" in December. The tour was okay, the guide extremely well-informed, but the hotels did not live up to their alleged 5-star rating. Giorgiopolis hotel had good food but the spa consisted of a sauna (good and hot), a hammam that was cold and a plunge pool that was on the chilly side. The Heraklion hotel (Santa Marina) was not as good with soulless rooms (no rugs, bare walls), no pool/sauna/hammam and food that was just about satisfactory. A big beef is with the jewellery/carpet/leather outlets that are an unavoidable feature of RSD tours. On a previous holiday in ANTALYA we bought diamond rings with a generous alleged price reduction. Back in Brighton these were valued at less than 75% of what we paid. In Crete an Asian gent on our tour with considerable haggling skills brought a £7,800 starting price in the carpet warehouse down to £1,000 - which shows just how overpriced these places are. RSD need to advise their clients to be aware of the hefty mark-ups in these warehouses; better yet, they could stop taking their clients to them. We thought this holiday was nowhere near as good in value and hotel quality as the Antalya tour. Not sure if we would use them again, though we are tempted by both the Israel and Morocco holidays in their catalogue.

Great refund process plus.

Many thanks for the simple and immediate refund process, unlike many others. Well done, and hope you stay healthy as a group of individuals and a company. When suitable, we would love to rebook, and already have another hopeful booking with you for Crete in April, which I'm sure will either result in another great trip, or another speedy refund. All the best to you all in these difficult times, we will work our way through your trips now, thanks at least in part to your attitude as a company!

Northern Cyprus tour - save your money

Currently on the Northern Cyprus tour - all I can say is don't bother! Been on 2 previous RSD trips - really enjoyed them but not this one, and will never travel with them again, no matter how cheap. Fully aware have to visit the factories but what you don't expect is to leave your hotel at 9.15am and not actually see anything on your tour itinerary until just after 2.00pm and then only given 1.30 mins (Bellapais), which didn't give enough time to view the site and grab a little lunch. From 9.15am until then was in firstly a jewellery outlet and then straight on to the leather outlet. We then finally reached the other item on our itinerary just before 4.00pm - Kyrenia Castle to then be told by the guide that best hurry around as it closes at 5.00pm - so almost 5 hours in 'factories' and an 2.5 hours in the places you've actually come to visit - utter joke! We're off to the 'free week' hotel day after tomorrow - been told by the guide that it's in the middle of nowhere so strongly advises to buy the all inclusive - so basically you don't have an option do you! No doubt there's a lot to see in Northern Cyprus but you're not going to see it with RSD because we haven't, but yet again we're now experts on carpets, leather and jewellery! Plus on the day we visited the carpet factory because we spent so long in there one item on our itinerary was missed due to lack of time - didn't bother me as not particularly somewhere wanted to go but others on trip did, simply not acceptable.

Dreadful! Don't use!

There are plenty of tour operators available without using this one which we found dreadful, unhelpful and rude, from the call handler to the Operations Director. . My 85 year old relative booked a trip with them recently and when we needed to ask for some reasonable adjustments for him, they were unhelpful, obstructive and couldnt care less to try to make his journey simpler and easier. Happy to take his money but failed to inform him he could have joined the trip at a more conventient airport, wouldnt give us the reference information we needed to change his arrangements with the airline and refused to contact them themselves. Maybe ok for those without special needs but a heartless and uncaring response for those who do!

We have travelled with RSD on three…

We have travelled with RSD on three occasions and all have been excellent experiences and tremendous value for money. We were very much looking forward to our holiday to Northern Cyprus in April but of course it has for obvious reasons been cancelled.RSD did offer us a holiday next year with an additional week but our ages and the uncertainty persuaded us to cancel. They have given us a full refund. Well done RSD we will book with you again when all the dust has settled.

Intially, our tour guide Ali was friendly and funny but it became apparent as the time progressed that he was not suited to his role. He basically berated people for asking questions if they didn't understand and was very impatient. Bearing in mind most of the people in our group were elderly or at least middle aged. He told us about previous complaints that customers had had which was very unprofessional and consistently reminded us of how poor Moroccans are. We made the mistake of eating at one of the prearranged restaurants without paying the extra £119 as we thought we could pay at the restaurants separately; he made an example of us on the bus instead of dealing with the issue privately. He did not tell us beforehand about this arrangement. I also made the sinful error of asking at the Meknes tea room if we could pay separately at this specific place just to confirm what he had previously said and he very rudely remarked 'What planet are you from? Mars?!' I stopped speaking to him after this because it was abundantly clear Ali lacked even basic customer service skills. the berber Mohammed should have been the tour guide was it not for his English proficiency. He had all the skills Ali lacks. Train Mohammed and sack Ali. The driver and cleaner were also superb. The second week was more enjoyable although one must be very wary of the taxi drivers being deceitful and getting pressured into buying stuff at Marakesh market. Beware of pick pockets also. I had 300MAD lifted from my pocket and I also got food poisoning. Be on your guard. Finally, this type of holiday is more suited to older travellers with money to spend and tips to endlessly give. On a positive note, the hotels we stopped at were generally good even if the porters at some of the hotels we stopped at were over zealous in their luggage delivery.

Refund from RSD Travel

Referring to post of 14th February 2021, RSD Travel have now refunded the unused portion of the cancelled holiday to Cyprus, monies transferred into my account last week. I will book this holiday with the company in the future as it is my opinion that these holidays represent the best value available. There are many negative reviews on various sites regarding this company, but I travelled to Crete in December 2020, with my granddaughter, (see my review on Tripadvisor), okay you do have the carpet factory, the jewellery outlet and the leather clothing warehouse thrown in, but not as daunting as others report, and if it keeps the cost of the holiday low, well I will go along with that. On the plus side, the tours were excellent. My sister lives in Crete but we saw far more with RSD Travel than the many other times I have been there. So there you have it, I like this company’s tours, best value in the travel market. Linda Hughes

Amazing value but no shortage of warts…

The 4 star rating is a bit tongue-in-cheek, it could have easily been 1 or 2. But the fact remains that our trip to Northern Cyprus represents astonishing value-for-money. Two of us for a week on half board with 4 include full-day excursions for under £900 undercuts anything else on the market by hundreds of pounds. True, one is aware of sacrifices caused by budgetary cutting of corners. All those complaints in other reviews about exasperating travel arrangements back and forth, absurdly logs periods of time being trapped in warehouses while being pressurized to buy jewelry, carpets or leather, and poor quality food were more than justified. Certainly, the mood in our group was not improved by the general resentment against the misallocation of time between captive shopping and visiting sites of cultural or historical interests, this being countered by the tour guide's freely expressed resentment that as a stingy group we clearly were not buying enough! Have a great holiday, but go with your eyes open and upgrade or eat out wherever you can. And say NO to those salesmen.

CRETE We have just returned from 8 days in Crete and thoroughly enjoyed it . We saw everything of interest and we were lucky enough to have an Archiologist with us at the minoan sites. The driver and guide were fab. We were very happy to tip these people whose income in the winter is very small they receive 350 euros from the government every 6 weeks if they have no employment. I challenge any brit to manage on this pittance in the UK. If you want a luxury holiday choose a different company. If you give 10 euros and demand 50 euros change you are on the wrong tour. The hotels were perfectly adequate and as for the Gourmet package we found it took the stress out of struggling to find somewhere to eat in the evenings. We were all told that we would be visiting Carpet, Jewellery and Leather companies, you have a choice to stay on the coach, its all part of the culture of the country. Well done RSD for helping keep the hotels and connecting industries going in the winter. We are about to embark on our 3rd holiday with RSD to Sri Lanka, and we know that we will have a great time.

On our return journey

On our return journey. We got off our bus outside the airport. There were very little staff there. We waited in a queue with everyone else. I was in agony as I have oestoarthtritis. My husband asked several times for a wheelchair as we had ordered one in advance. I struggled to stand, no wheelchair! I managed to get through customs after several attempts, they too my cane off me, I held onto my husband, but as he was struggling with all the luggage, could not help me, he was still making a fuss about a wheelchair, and after clearing, I pointed myself on a chair and waited, and waited, and waited. Half an hour later, much to my relief, my husband appeared, we were told to go along and stand in another long queue, after nearly an hour someone got me a chair, for which I was very grateful. It made my experience much less stressful. We found a place to sit down, my wheelchair had disappered. All the other remaining passengers got into a buggy. There was not enough room left for us, so we waited for another wheelchair, it did not arrive. Other passengers had told the driver we were still waiting, after a while a buggy arrived, the driver had used his initiative and listened to the other passengers and came to find us. If he hadn,t done this I think we would still be in the airport. He looked after us, got our luggage, and dropped us off at the front entrance. We cannot thank him enough. He went out of his way to look after us and went above and beyond to make sure we were safe.

Disappointed

I gave 1 star only because I had to to continue to the comments page, otherwise I do not rate RSD at all. I am sat here in my 4* luxury resort room on the last week of my Croatian culture trip. What a joke. Treated to pressure sales at gold, carpet and leather factories on the cultural tour the first week spoilt what had started off as a wonderful experience. Dropped of at the supposedly 4* resort where we are to relax and enjoy the facilities. What facilities ? The resort advertises 8 swimming pools and 12 restaurants and bars. Only 1 buffet style restaurant is open, 1 lobby bar and 1 indoor swimming pool. No lounges on the beach or around the pools as they are closed. Not enough outside seating for guests. The room is very basic and aged. Outside my balcony I am looking at 3 small pools that are filled dirty stagnant water and surrounding by security tape. Complained to the management of the resort and our tour group had a meeting with him. He explained that the resort is not fully open until May 10 which is the day we return to the UK. He also explained that back in November 2022 RSD were given full details of what was available at the resort at this time of year. RSD still chose to leave us here knowing what the resort had to offer. We were not given any information about where we would be staying on the last week of our tour until the day before we were left here by RSD. Our tour guide assured us that we would get 4* plus treatment so because of this we paid extra for the gourmet food and unlimited drink package. The food is plentiful but no way would you class it as gourmet. The bar is very small and has a limited choice of drinks and only have tins of beer. Apparently according to reception the resort is full. Yes full of RSD customers. Buses are still dropping people off. The resort is basically closed and they cleaning the pools getting them ready for next week. We have nothing to do and very little outside the resort. No entertainment, you can pay 10 euros to join a quiz, yippee. To go to the nearest town it is 10 euro each way by taxi, the only form of transport or you can walk along the beach which will take 45 minutes to get there. To say I am disappointed is an understatement and will never book with RSD again.

Our coach trip to Turkey

Our coach trip to Antalya, Konya and Cappodocia was amazing. Our guide Ahmet was very knowable and gave you a nicely paced first week. The luxury resort for a week was out of this world. Castival Hotel was 5 stars in every context. Fati our RSD Rep was awesome. My group wanted a Sunday service (I am a priest) and Fati arranged the room, wine and bread. What a great guy.

High Risks and Low Customer Service

GRAHAM LISTER High Risks and low Customer Service Is this company only interested in making money. There are many reviews documenting the apparent low cost of a trip with RSD, but which escalate quickly when ‘additions’ arise. Whilst we all appreciate good value, it should come with quality and service. However these are sadly lacking with this company. Enough has previously been said about the very average quality and the ‘special packages’ with their associated costs, e.g. tours, meals …visits to carpet, jewellery and leather factories. What is shocking is the lack of concern by the company for the customer. Having booked the 15 night trip to Morocco leaving on the 12th March, we naturally needed to satisfy ourselves regarding health and safety. On the previous day the WHO had declared COVID-19 a World Pandemic; and advice on TV was to contact your travel company. On attempting to do this it was found the RSD desk had not at that time opened (it retained its normal hours). At this point it was 2 hours before check in, so the emergency number was used, despite the note on the company travel information stating ‘last minute cancellation of the trip is NOT an emergency-please direct this matter to us in writing only’ The representative stated the trip was going ahead, despite the Foreign Office’s website stating Morocco had introduced unspecified measures regarding the virus, which had to be complied with. The company could not give any information about the measures, nor confirm if isolation would be introduced on arrival in Morocco. At 9.00a.m. (now only 1 hour from check in) RSD was again contacted and they stated the trip was going ahead and could not be refunded or postponed with vouchers. The representative was very abrupt and unhelpful and stated a cancellation e-mail needed to be sent immediately. At that point we decided not to proceed with the holiday. A difficult but subsequently the right decision. Six days later we are at home watching the chaos at Marrakech airport, where hundreds of people are unable to get flights to the UK. Will we travel with RSD again? NEVER.

Bad call RSD

We have had many holidays with RSD and been satisfied customers. I booked a holiday to Croatia for March 2023 to coincide with my birthday. I received a phone call from RSD saying that the date I had booked had been cancelled but I could choose either November this year or a week later than my original booking in 2023. I agreed to the later booking, even though it would miss the birthday. I was then informed that there would be an extra cost but not to worry because they had given me a discount of £35 leaving me with ‘only’ an extra £50 to pay. At this point I said “hang on, you are changing the date of my holiday; it is not particularly convenient for me but you expect me to pay you extra?” Yes was the reply. I asked the operator to check with a supervisor which he did and confirmed this was “company policy”. I asked for a manager to call me back. The Operations Manager did call me back. He not only reiterated that this was “company policy” but was extremely rude and condescending, mansplaining what a seasonal price increase was. I said I fully understood what it was but I hadn’t chosen a date later in the season, it was RSD requiring me to change my date to suit them. I asked him if he thought this was a good business decision, being willing to lose a good and long-standing customer for the sake of £50? He replied, that he would not respond to “emotional blackmail” What a staggeringly rude response! I was prepared to compromise up until that comment. I assured him that as I was cancelling the holiday and never travelling with RSD again, he would not need to worry about being emotionally blackmailed. Having since checked the original brochure again, I notice that it does not specify any March dates and has the whole of March 2023 marked as zero for a seasonal price increase. As is often the case, it is not the original problem, but the way they deal with it that defines a company. Bad call RSD.

A company who does not care

It is with regret I write this review, as I rarely write them and I have only once written a poor one. We have been with RSD on 3 occasions and we have very good breaks. You have to accept the high-pressure sales of the carpets, leather and jewellery as this is what makes the holiday affordable. Although they hard sell their “gourmet package” and all-inclusive our view is that sometimes it is a better holiday without (assuming they tell you where you are staying), so you can experience the real life of the local area (although according to RSD, there isn’t anywhere locally!!?) Now our real complaints that RSD should have done something about, Firstly on returning from a Turkey trip, we stopped over in Gatwick, had to deboard, then get back on, now for someone that hates flying, it was not great, but was made worse by taking over an hour to get back on board!!!? and we only went down the steps and then went back through the boarding process. Secondly, this year returning from a Croatia trip, we again had to de board. This time for some unknown reason, we had to virtually leave the terminal before coming back in. Only to find that as we left “Airside” we could not get through security with our Tickets!!!!, We were “Lucky” because we had someone from the airline industry that was able to help, however even with that help it took us well over 2 hours to get back on the plane! Meaning for us and many others train travel home was much later than it should have been meaning that onward travel (as well as parking costs, for some) was invalid and needed to be changed!!!! On both these occasions, I have written to RSD who have not even replied to either complaint let alone make any sort of apology, or indeed say how they might improve what I assume is an international travel requirement. We have now decided that with the sales pressure, they do endlessly push, and now coupled with showing they really do not give a dam about their customer (as is clear, you will note that they never comment on any negative review no matter how well founded). WE WILL NEVER TRAVEL WITH RSD AGAIN.

We have used RSD Travel on 2 previous…

We have used RSD Travel on 2 previous occasions and will shortly be going on a third, but having read many reviews, feel that many are unjustified. You do visit 3 factories and they are very hard sell but YOU CAN SAY NO. They are mentioned in the paperwork but only in passing, so I agree that it is not clear enough. The coach stops for lunch on the tours and we have found, that for us anyway, an extra meal package is not required. Again, you can say NO. Where else can you get a holiday for this sort of money. You get what you pay for in this life. Some people expect too much for what they are willing to pay.

We’ve now experienced RSD for the first…

We’ve now experienced RSD for the first time and it’s only fair to leave a balanced review. There are already lots of reviews on Trustpilot but this is mine. Extremely disappointing selection of food for breakfast & dinner at the majority of hotels.. particularly the 2nd week hotel, Azul in Montenegro. The food is only lukewarm .. never hot. Pork, pork and more pork Fish offering us extremely disappointing- trout which has been gutted and then hacked into 2 pieces. No thought for presentation. Definitely not 4 star Zero ice cream Repetitive selection of small cake pieces- very boring Zero hot chocolate Easter Monday - no orange juice Coffee machine not working Friday/Sat/Sunday- no draught beer - only very cheap canned lager beer. Family room ok apart from lack of comfortable seating Had to pay 15 euros for a kettle Friendly staff Expensive 10 euro per session extra curricular entertainment Nothing included on an all inclusive resort Bora, our guide during the 1st week, insisted that there were no restaurants within easy distance of the resort. One restaurant is actually approximately 50 yards from the Azul entrance. Lots of others in a short radius. Obviously not town centre but very different from the fear that he was spreading, He did use bullying tactics to get fellow travellers to agree to the fully inclusive package. He never stopped reminding people to visit cash machines for the extra payments that he needed from us after such tactics. Our driver, Borge, was superb. Safe driving and as smooth as possible. Very helpful with the masses of luggage being moved everyday. The cultural tour during the first week was interesting and informative- we did have some wonderful local guides BUT it does get very samey after you’ve visited so many churches with basically the same history. The carpet, leather, jewellery visits are tiresome but I can understand the need for these to keep the holiday cost lower. Whilst they are all pushy sales guys, they soon understand when you don’t want to buy and move onto more easy pickings. JUST SAY NO! RSD should explain that the star rating is not referring to the quality of the hotel but the number features offered. Quality is not assured. The interminable delays at the border are something to bear in mind. I reckon we have wasted 5 hours just sat waiting whilst the border guards process bus after bus as slowly as possible… obviously not the fault of RSD but be prepared for this type of frustrating delay. You have been warned! On the return trip to Dubrovnik for the final night , it was quite simply a waste of an entire day on a bus. The hotel for the final evening was absolutely fabulous… if only we could have experienced this throughout the tour. It’s the first time that we’ve been on holiday and actually looked forward to returning home! EDIT : RSD have replied by snail mail and suggested that they will do their best to improve things.

Excellent Great Value Holiday

We went to Croatia, Bosnia Herzogovina and Montenegro in early March. Everything about the holiday went well and smoothly. The 4* hotels were clean and up to standard. We had wonderful sea views for three nights. The guide and driver were good and helpful. We bought the upgrade to half board and the food was good and plentiful. The tour took us to some amazing places. Great value and a good time of year to go, but there were two rainy days which did not dampen our spirits. You don't have to buy the carpets, jewellery or leather goods if you don't want to.

  1. My No BS Review of RSD (Real Social Dynamics)

In addition, I started attending the RSD "Free tour" events and watching some of their free YouTube content. I was never a die-hard fanboy but definitely sipped from the Kool-aid quite a bit. I even had a picture of Julien on my dream board (let no one say I'm not transparent).

Excellent content. I quote him sometimes. I think he is clearly one of the best minds in game. We have all seen infield footage of the guy and he kills it. He's a monster — and I mean that in a good way. I think he is worth modeling as you try to develop your mindset. And yet… I "recently" walked out of his free talk.
