It was a party bus on water. There was a group of drunk people who were so loud combined with overly loud music that we weren’t even able to converse. Not enjoyable at all and we couldn’t wait to get off the boat. They charged for water and soft drinks which is crazy considering how much they charge for dinner and at the end the waiters hold a tray for tips as you walk out which is so tacky. - llowmanuk 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles An excellent afternoon tea experience We had an excellent afternoon tea while seeing all the sights along the Thames. The food was lovely, the staff were helpful and welcoming and the boat was great. We didn’t pay extra for a window seat but there are windows all around the boat so you can see anyway and you can go up on to the top deck when you want to get a better look at things. The tour takes you firm to Battersea and back to Tower Hill. We had the option to purchase extra drinks but there was absolutely no pressure to do so. We decided to as it was a special occasion and drinks were very reasonable, especially for London. We set off and we’re soon served drinks and afternoon tea. Then we spent sone time on the top deck as the weather was good. I liked the fact that the first part we had tea and could talk and the second half had a commentary by the crew which was very informative. I had a little trouble initially in booking the cruise but was quickly assisted and the booking was sorted. The four of us really enjoyed the 90 minute cruise. The price was good for afternoon tea in London especially with the cruise as well. I will definitely look at sone of the other trips they offer. Read more Written February 27, 2024

- NorthStar53208003261 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Bad management, money grab, avoid. This has been a real let down. I’ve booked this for my wife’s 30th birthday. The quality of the food was Tesco standard. The lights have been kept on causing reflections in the windows obscuring views and ruining the sight seeing aspect. There was live music, however it was very loud and tasteless, you had to almost shout to your partner in order to be heard. The only aspect of this tour which was worthwhile was the views from the upper deck, away from the noise and the bad food. This whole tour felt like a tactless money grab, I’m sure the staff was underpaid, the organisation none existent. The boat didn’t know where it wanted to go, with constant stops, changing directions, at one point parking next to another boat for no reason. And to top it off at the end of the tour the crew stood with their hands out for donations, which further gave evidence that they are underpaid. This was a complete rip off, like many other things you will find on virgin experience. I’ve been on another Thames cruise some years back and that was amazing, I was hoping that this would have been the same but it seems like this was done by a different company or things have gone way downhill. I was just really embarrassed in front of my wife, I blame myself for not doing more research. Read more Written February 16, 2024

- 369queeny 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great Experience Pleasantly surprised by this trip. I have been on a boat tour before with Cuty Cruises but never the one with food. We had 2 courses followed by tea/coffee. The food was amazing, chicken moist, sauce tasted fab. We didn't expect such great food! The boat was clean and tidy. The toilets were big and clean. The staff were friendly and service was a good speed. There were 40 of us in our group ,plus others, this size of party didn't seem to affect attentiveness at all. Fabulous. Only thing to note is that drinks are extra. Read more Written February 8, 2024
- Tarheelatthebeach 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles VERY disappointed - apparently they can cancel and not give you your money back We got on the boat, got to the NEXT stop, and they canceled the tour due to winds and forced everyone to get off. We were aboard a total of 15 minutes and got dumped far from where we were heading. I was denied a refund because I booked through TA and not directly through the boat company. Direct was giving refunds, TA was not. Very very disappointed. This was supposed to be a 24-hour pass for the two of us to enjoy the city, and instead we got 15 minutes and a taxi fee to get where we wanted to go. Read more Written February 6, 2024

We were booked to get off at Greenwich - cruise takes about 40 mins (could do this much quicker, but it does give you chance to see things along the bank) There is a commentary running about certain points of interest. The return commentary was better by a member of staff. Boat had indoor & outdoor seating. Lots of seats. Bar/cafe available & toilets Read more Written January 29, 2024
- jackie m 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Not a true hop on and off adventure. This was advertised as hop on hop off tour with 4 piers. The cruise only stopped at 2. They should give you highlights to see and eat along the way if this is truly a hop on tour. Not sure why we only stop at Westminster and Tower Bridge. The tour guides were hilarious, they made the trip memorable. For the price of 60 for a couple, I feel like it is overpriced. Just do the Uber boat for much cheaper price to see the sights. You're welcome. Read more Written January 28, 2024

Thames River Christmas Day Sightseeing Cruise provided by City Cruises
The Best London by Night, Christmas Lights Tours and Evening River Cruises
Tis the season to be jolly! And so it should be after more than 2 years of travel restrictions and 3 years since the last time people had proper fun and enjoyed the spirit of Christmas. If you’re looking for fun things to do in London in the evening or want to know what London would look like at night, well, London is still stunning as ever! The best London by night, Christmas lights and evening cruises is seeing the beautifully lit sights and being closer to the Christmas lights of London on a half open top, double decker bus or on a cruise vessel?
See the Christmas lights of Regent Street, Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and more. There are also other London by Night tours that also include sights such as The London Eye, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben. In addition, there’s one night time tour that goes to Harrods and also covers the area of Kensington where you will see the Royal Albert Hall, Natural History Museum and more.
Alternatively, if you are looking to up the ante this festive season, why not have some Christmas drinks on London’s only open top bar bus? Yes! That’s correct! There’s a bar bus that takes in some of London’s sights. Wrap up under warm blankets (which are provided), relax and enjoy the Christmas lights and the magnificent landmarks as you travel directly under the angels above Regent Street and under Oxford Street’s Christmas lights. See Trafalgar Square’s Christmas tree and the Christmas market, and see London with family or friends and/or visitors in a new light (pardon the pun).
If you purchase the bar bus Christmas lights tour with the 2 drinks option, you will be able to choose your drinks from a small choice on board. There’s a selection of winter warmers such as mulled wine or hot chocolate to prosecco, rose, gin and tonic, beer and soft drinks. These are available to purchase on board the bar bus. Learn More
Caveat! As with all the tours, there are limited places and whilst children under 5 years travel can free of charge whilst sitting on your lap, you may be asked to purchase a child seat for them if you would like your child to be seated.

The cruise departs at 03:15 PM from Tower Pier, London, EC3N 4DT.
New Year’s Eve Celebrations
There are plenty of cruises offering the best views of London’s amazing New Year’s fireworks display. The boats will compete for the best positions on either side of Waterloo Bridge and Westminster Bridge as none will be allowed in between the two bridges, mostly for safety reasons and crowd control. Others may be moored at piers such as Bankside Pier, Tower Pier etc. The key is to book early to avoid disappointment especially as this will be first time people will be able to let their hair down.
Before booking a New Year’s Eve cruise, do check what is included or not included in the product you are purchasing. Some cruises are just a cruise only without food. However, they will have a cash bar with snacks on board. We say ‘cash bar’ because many will not accept credit cards and are cash only purchases. Therefore, do check with the cruise operator what facilities are being offered if you are not sure. Not all resellers will be aware of this either. In addition, check which pier the cruise of your choice departs from and get there by the boarding time stated on your ticket and not the departure time because they won’t wait for you if you are late. This is mainly because of strict regulations and other cruises needing the pier to dock.
Another thing to check is whether the dinner being offered is on board the vessel or off-site such as at a pub or restaurant prior to the cruise departing. And don’t take luggage or large bags of any type as they will not be allowed on the vessels especially on these special occasions. One more thing, check the dress code! Nothing more disappointing than being turned away because you wore trainers, sports shoes (call them what you like) and/or shorts! And you won’t get your money back either!
Roads may close early in preparation for the fireworks display. Therefore, please check road closures on Transport For London’s website www.tfl.gov.uk before you travel and make sure you know how to get to the appropriate pier. You are advised to arrive early and to allow plenty of time to make your way to the pier as this year will be an exceptional one for party goers.

Most cruises sailing on New Year’s Eve will most likely be drinks and snack only cruises. However, we have given you a couple of examples below of a cruise that includes dinner but one is off-site and the other on board the vessel.
New Year’s Eve Thames cruise with fireworks on board the Thomas Doggett
Actually, Thomas Doggett was an Irish born and comedian who became the manager of the Drury Lane theatre towards the end of the 17 th century. He set up the The Race for Doggett’s Coat and Badge in 1715 making it the world’s oldest known boat race. The boat is named after him and is used for sightseeing cruises.
So what better way to welcome the New Year than on a sensational boat cruise on the Thames on board the Thomas Doggett? This cruise is drinks and snacks only and includes live music entertainment In addition, it has a Cash bar on-board the cruise (card payments will not be accepted). Boarding is at 9:15pm from Bankside Pier, New Globe Walk, London, SE1 9DT. Learn More
New Year’s Eve Thames Cruise with Fireworks on board the Sapele

Take in the British capital’s most famous sights and striking city lights as you cruise through the heart of London. Learn More
New Year’s Eve Cruise on the Sarpedon
This cruise offers an off-site Three-course meal at Doggett’s Coat and Badge pub, 1 Blackfriars Bridge, Greater, London, SE1 9UD. Dinner will be served 6:30pm to 8:30pm, so ideally arrive by 5:30pm. Then it’s a 10 minute walk (may be longer if you’ve had a few drinks!) over Blackfriars Bridge to Crown Pier where you will board the Sarpedon at 9:00pm for your New Year’s Cruise. You also have the option to do this cruise without dinner. Note that this is also a Cash bar on-board the vessel (card payments will not accepted). There is live music entertainment. Learn More

Things To Do In London On Christmas Day
Looks like this article is a bit old. Be aware that information may have changed since it was published.
In London on Christmas Day and wondering what to do? Looking for something to fill the hours between the presents and the turkey? Here's the lowdown on Christmas Day in the capital.
Is London busy on Christmas Day?
If you're up early enough, you can see London's streets fairly empty. That used to be a novelty, but these days is more likely to trigger lockdown flashbacks. By 11am, the masses are out (and, we noticed in recent — pre-Covid — years, the streets get busy earlier every year, largely with tourists here for the holiday season).
What transport runs in London on Christmas Day?
No tubes, buses, trains or trams run on Christmas Day, leaving walking, cycle hire, taxi, or your own vehicle (the ULEZ and Congestion Charg e don't apply on 25 December, but the LEZ does) as your options for getting into and around town. Here's a full guide to public transport in London between Christmas and New Year , including Christmas Day.
What opens in London on Christmas Day?
A smattering of cafes and pubs may be open, but nowhere near as many as normal. One particular thing to note is that a lot of London's toilets, located in cafes, restaurants, pubs and stations, won't be available today. Just something to consider before you fill a flask/your bladder with mulled wine. Here's our full guide to what's open in London on Christmas Day .
Things to do and events in London on Christmas Day 2023
CHURCH SERVICES: Sing along to the services at Westminster Cathedral , Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral . Some events are ticketed and usually sell out in advance, but live streams are often available — check websites closer to the time. Of course, churches all over London run services on Christmas Day; check with your local for details.
VOLUNTEERING: If you're reading this in advance of the big day, you might still be in time to sign up for a volunteering slot at one of the many charities that operate on Christmas Day to help the capital's most vulnerable, including the homeless, and the elderly or isolated who may otherwise spend the day alone.
GOLDEN TOURS: This company runs tours on Christmas Day , taking you past sights such as Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London over the course of three hours on board a coach. Pick from a morning or afternoon slot ( 8.30am/2pm).
SWIMMING: While London isn't exactly replete with options for a Christmas Day dip, some pools do open for a few hours, including Hampton Pool. Here's our guide to swimming in London on Christmas Day , though consider yourself warned that you need to book several weeks in advance for some of the options.
PETER PAN CUP: Every year, a group of hardy swimmers takes to the icy depths of Hyde Park's Serpentine, in pursuit of the Peter Pan Cup . You can't take part unless you're a member of the Serpentine Swimming Club (and really, would you want to?), but you can drop by and offer your support from dry land. Find out more about the history of the Peter Pan Cup here . Free to watch, 9am start
SIGHTSEEING CRUISE: City Experiences run Christmas Day Sightseeing Cruises up and down the Thames, lasting an hour and passing some of London's most famous landmarks, accompanied by a live commentary (pre-recorded commentary available in other languages). Festive drinks and snacks including mulled wine and mince pies are available to buy on board, and the cruise starts and finishes at Westminster Pier. The same company also offers a three-hour Christmas Day Lunch Cruise , including a four-course meal on board. Various departures 9.45am-2.45pm
GUIDED WALKS: Guided walks don't stop just because it's Christmas Day. Take a Samuel Pepys themed walk based on Christmas morning 1660, the first time Christmas celebrations were permitted in England for eight years. It begins in Trafalgar Square, at 11am . There's also a Christmas Day Charles Dickens walk , starting in Trafalgar Square at 2pm
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: What could be more festive that wandering among London's Christmas lights ? Today's likely to be one of the quietest days to see them, even with festive sightseers lurking, as the West End shopping crowds aren't around. Our preferred option of seeing them by bus isn't available today due to the festive transport shutdown, but there's nothing to stop you walking or cycling between the twinkling displays as darkness falls.

How to spend Christmas Day in London
Christmas Day in London is the only day of the year when London comes to a standstill: There is no public transport and most shops are closed.
Lots of people visit London during the Christmas holidays, and sometimes people feel disappointed when they discover that there isn’t much to do in London on Christmas Day, as nothing is open. It is the only holiday of the year that can be considered a real bank holiday for those who work in central London, as other bank holidays in London go unnoticed, as shops don’t close, and public transport is always on the go.
So one of the questions that I receive the most include: What do we do in London on Christmas Day? Is it a waste of time? How do spend Chrismas in London?
The truth is that London never really stops; even if it is Christmas Day and the shops are closed, there is always something to do. Yes, some restaurants will be open, and what’s more, they will be offering traditional Christmas Dinner. There will also be taxis (although they will be more expensive this day) and London’s buildings and skyline won’t be covered… So don’t worry, there are things to do. We have made a list of the best things to do in London on Christmas Day.
What to do on Christmas Day in London
Few tourist attractions will be open on December 25 in London, but so that you can make the most of this day, I have compiled everything I have found that can be done on Christmas Day in London, including restaurants that offer traditional food British Christmas.
Christmas Day Sigthseeing Bus Tour
A special Christmas Day sightseeing bus tour will run on Christmas Day in London. We think this is a good way of spending part of the day, and it can be pretty spectacular. Just imagine – no crowds, no traffic… You will see London like never before, and it’s also a way to get around the city as there is no public transport.
Discover the sights of London on Christmas Day with a unique Christmas Day Sightseeing Tour. This tour will take you past London’s must-see sights while you hear festive facts and stories from a live guide.
The Christmas Day Bus Tour departs from Marble Arch at 10am, 12pm, 2:30pm and 5pm on December 25th only. Duration is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and it is not a hop-on hop-off tour.

Where to Eat in London on Christmas Day
Even though many pubs and restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day in London, some will open and offer a traditional British Christmas Lunch. It is important to book, though, as you may want to book the restaurant closest to your hotel (or near a sightseeing bus tour stop!), knowing that no public transport will be available.
You can spend the morning strolling through central London or going on the sightseeing bus tour and then take the opportunity to enjoy Christmas Lunch, something that can only be done properly once a year!
Here is a list of restaurants in London that offer a special menu for Christmas Day:

Public Transport on Christmas Day in London
As I mentioned before, Christmas Day is the only day of the year when there is no public transport in London, and this can be a problem if you need to move around the city on that day. There will be no underground service, no bus, no overground, and no DLR amongst other services.
Taxis will be available throughout the day, but they will be more expensive on this day. If you already know that you will need to go from one place to another, such as from the airport to the city centre, I recommend booking a minicab in advance, since it will probably be cheaper than calling a taxi on the day.
National Express buses will operate on Christmas Day, making airport transfers easier.
- Bus from Stansted Airport to Central London .
- Bus from Gatwick Airport to Central London.
- Bus from Luton Airport to Central London .
Christmas Eve and Boxing Day in London
Shops, tourist attractions and public transport also have different opening times during Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Here you can find what is open and what to do on these days: Christmas Eve and Boxing Day in London .

A Timeline of Kate Middleton's Abdominal Surgery and Recovery
Here's everything Kensington Palace has said about the Princess of Wales's health in recent weeks.
Here, T&C takes a look back on all the statements Kensington Palace has made about the Princess of Wales, in a complete timeline of her health news:
December 25, 2023: Kate attends Christmas services at Sandringham with the royal family.
As is annual tradition for the royal family, Kate appeared with her family on Christmas day, as they walked to church at Sandringham. This appearance became notable only later, as it marks the last time the Princess made a public appearance before her surgery.
January 16: Kate undergoes planned abdominal surgery at the London Clinic.
In mid-January, the Princess of Wales underwent planned abdominal surgery at the London Clinic. News of the surgery was not made public until the following day.
January 17: Kensington Palace releases their first statement on Kate's health.
"Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery," Kensington Palace said in a shocking statement . "The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."
The Palace continued, "The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private. Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share. The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."
It is understood her surgery was not cancerous, but no other details were provided on the Princess's health conditions.
January 18: William visits Kate at the hospital.
Prince William was photographed driving from the London Clinic, where he visited his wife as she recuperated from surgery; it was the only time the Prince of Wales was pictured at the hospital during her entire two-week stay. Meanwhile, in the aftermath of her surgery, William postponed his public engagements to be by his wife's side.
January 26: King Charles visits Kate at the hospital.
On January 26, King Charles was admitted to the London Clinic for treatment for a benign enlarged prostate . Before his admittance, he visited the Princess of Wales, who was still recuperating from her surgery in the London Clinic.
A week later, Buckingham Palace announced the King has cancer , saying, "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer."
January 29: Kate is discharged from hospital.
On the same day King Charles was discharged from the hospital, the Princess of Wales was also discharged . While Charles was pictured smiling and waving as he left (above), Kate was not seen as she left the London Clinic.
"The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress," Kensington Palace said in a statement . "The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."
As of January 29, Kate is said to be recuperating at home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
February 7: Prince William returns to public duties, and carries out a day of engagements.
A bit over a week following Kate's discharge from the hospital, Prince William returned to public engagements , carrying out an investiture and attending a gala dinner for London's air ambulance charity .
At the investiture, William revealed that Kate has two "amazing and kind" nurses caring for her, and at the gala dinner, he said, "I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all."
February 27: Kensington Palace gives a brief update on Kate's health.
When Kensington Palace shared that Prince William had to miss King Constantine's memorial service due to a "personal matter," they gave a brief health update on Kate , saying she "continues to be doing well."
February 29: Kensington Palace emphasizes that there will be no regular updates on Kate's health.
In response to rampant online speculation about the Princess , a spokesperson said , "Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the Princess' recovery and we'd only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands." The spokesperson reiterated that Kate is "doing well."
March 4: Kate is spotted in public for the first time.
In the first photographs of the Princess of Wales since December, she was pictured in the passenger seat of an car driven by her mom, Carole Middleton , near Windsor Castle. The unauthorized paparazzi photos were obtained by TMZ. ( Read more here. )
We'll update this as more news becomes available about Kate Middleton's health and recovery.
