Thank you so much for including getting us in your top 10!

Great job! I just started a blog. I’m pretty excited!

Thanks for the shout-out Escapees!!

Great list! We were aware of a few of these blogs, but most are new finds. Looking forward to learning about these travelers. Thanks for putting this together, and for including PropaneandBourbon.com

Thanks for including us. What a nice surprise! Scott Fox FoxRVTravel.com

Thanks for including us in this list! What a thrill for us to be in such good company! I look forward to reading about other bloggers experiences. Sally and John

I’m confused about what people are calling “RVers”. We are waiting for our order of a SylvanGo. This is the kind of camping we can afford, both economically and environmentally (we will be towing with an EV). Can you point me toward blogs with lighter weight recreational campers? Thanks!

At this point in time, we don’t have any articles for lighter-weight trailers like the SylvanGo. But thank you for bringing up the suggestion! We’ll look into adding that to our topics in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you may find more weight-related advice from those who travel in pop-up campers. Though they’re heavier than a tent trailer, they’re still similar in that they involve canvas/nylon walls and share some interior features and construction.

thanks for the list! New finds for me. Like so many others, we’ve started a travel blog as well, as requested by our friends and family. New to blogging and new to RVing (fulltime), hopefully you’ll read our blog sometime.

How to Live and Travel Full-Time by RV

marc and julie from RV Love

Over the past few years, there has been an explosion of people giving up the daily grind to live and travel in vans, RVs, and other nontraditional abodes. While traveling in an RV has been something people have been doing for decades, new sharing economy websites , better resources online, more modern vans, and a growing community that can provide support have made it easier for anyone to travel full-time in an RV.

What used to be traditionally and predominantly an activity for older, retired, or family travelers is now something people of all ages are trying to do.

One just has to look up #vanlife on social media to see!

(An aside: I hate the #vanlife movement. The faux Instagram movement does nothing for me. Just a bunch of millennials searching out that perfect sponsored photo and talking about how woke they are (for the most part)).

But #vanlife aside, RV travel is a wonderful way to see the world.

“How do you travel in an RV?” is one of the questions I’m most asked.

So today, we’re going to the experts and talking full-time RV with nomads Marc and Julie from RV Love . This couple joined my blogging program a few years ago, hoping to find a way to spread the gospel of living and traveling in an RV to the wider world. (Spoiler: they did. And they just published a book with Simon & Schuster about it too! )

They’ve been driving around in their RV for nearly five years and, today, they share their wisdom about how to travel by RV:

Nomadic Matt: Tell us about yourselves! How did you get into this? Marc and Julie : We’re Marc and Julie Bennett, full-time RVers since 2014, living, working, and traveling in our motorhome as we explore North America and the world! We met on the dating website eHarmony while both living in Colorado in 2010, married in 2011, and hit the road three years later!

marc from RV Love quitting his job

Why did you pick traveling in an RV as your way to get around? We knew we wanted to do a lot more extended travel while we were still working. We get such little vacation time here in the USA , and we didn’t want that to limit our lives. So we started exploring different ways to bring more travel and adventure into our everyday life without Marc having to give up his job as project manager of operations, which he was able to do from home.

We considered international travel, but there were two main reasons why wasn’t a fit: the challenge of time zones, and more specifically, we wanted to travel with our dog Coda. Plus, we love to drive, so RVing was really the ideal solution for us. We love that wherever we go, we’re always home, and we’re not living out of suitcases.

We’re both passionate about driving, so it makes sense that we would choose to live and travel by RV, although we usually prefer more sporty rides when it comes to entertainment, as we both have a love for sports cars and convertibles.

What’s life like living and traveling around in an RV? We just entered our fifth year on the road full-time as RVers, and we recently changed from a 2012 36’ gas Class A motorhome to a 1999 40’ diesel motorhome! We bucked the trend and went bigger (and older and cheaper, but much higher quality), and we’re actually doing a complete remodel of our RV this summer.

Traditionally, we spend about 80% of our time in campgrounds and about 20% dry camping, but we recently installed a big lithium battery bank and solar system on our RV, so we plan on spending a lot more time camping off the grid out in nature in the coming years. We try to spend 2-3 weeks in each location, but that varies on where we are, the weather, and what projects we have on our plates. We moved pretty fast in our first 3+ years, having visited all 50 states while still working full-time.

This year, we have so many big and exciting projects on our plates, we’re really feeling the need to slow down, catch our breath, and get caught up on our content! We tend to wing our plans a lot more than we used to, as we’re more comfortable and confident RVers now.

An average day depends on whether you have to work or not. We love that we no longer have a commute and that the views outside our windows change every week or so. Nature is a big part of our everyday life, so it can be easier to get in more walking, hiking, biking, or kayaking. We definitely get to see more sunsets — that’s a big thing for a lot of RVers.

RV life is still life. You need to go grocery shopping, make meals, do laundry, pay bills, and do housework. Then there’s RV maintenance and repairs! There’s almost always something to do on an RV — tighten screws, replace parts, troubleshoot issues, check your tire pressure, fix whatever’s broken.

Upon arrival at a destination, it usually takes less than 30 minutes to set up. It may sound like a hassle, but if you’re staying a week or more, it becomes a small percentage of your time. And RV life can be as social as you like. We tend to mostly stay in campgrounds, so it’s not too difficult to meet new people. And we also go to RV rallies to meet up with our RVing friends, who we stay in touch with online. It can take a little time to build your RV community, but if you put yourself out there, it can happen pretty quickly!

an RV for long-term travel parked on the side of the road

Do you need a lot of mechanical skills to do this? When you’re traveling around in an RV, if you aren’t already handy, you’ll learn to be! It’s definitely an advantage to become somewhat mechanical and familiar with simple tools. The RVing community is very helpful and supportive when it comes to finding answers for issues you may have — whether online (in social media groups) or in person. At RV parks and campgrounds, you will usually find someone reasonably experienced and mechanically oriented nearby. If you are not skilled or it’s a complex job, you can usually find a local or mobile repair person to perform needed maintenance or repairs.

We recommend sticking with a less complex RV when starting out. The more simple the RV, the more reliable and easy to fix they are likely to be, and you can tackle many repairs yourself. As full-time RVers driving a Class A motorhome, we only need to take our RV into repair facilities 2-3 times per year on average.

Many RV repairs are fairly simple, and that’s when YouTube and Google are your friends! One of our favorite YouTube channels is the RV Geeks , who make DIY how-to videos to help you make simple repairs and upgrades. It’s often more convenient (and definitely cheaper) to do many RV repairs yourself. And you may even want to consider an extended service contract to cover your RV for repairs outside of the manufacturer’s warranty period and help limit repair costs.

Are there any personality traits you think are necessary for living in an RV? Flexibility, adaptability, resourcefulness, and a sense of humor! Just like any other kind of travel, things don’t always go the way you want , RVs break (or break down), and travel plans go awry when you least expect it, so you need to be able to find a creative solution, often on the fly. It really helps to be handy or at least be willing to have a go at DIY fixes. RVers learn to become much more self-sufficient pretty quickly.

Anyone can RV if they really want to. It doesn’t matter about your age, life stage, relationship status, or financial situation. In our book, we share the inspiring story of 69-year-old Frieda who hit the road solo after her husband passed away and drove to Alaska to celebrate her 70th birthday. She’s been on the road for two years now and is still going strong.

Another great case study from the book is Nik and Allison (31 and 30). They share why they decided to RV and explore the country before they started a family. They follow the FIRE philosophy (Financial Independence, Retire Early) and save more than 50% of their income so Nik can be a stay-at-home dad. RVing for a year and a half while still working allowed them to do a lot of travel affordably while keeping them on track with their financial and life goals.

marc and julie from RV Love

There really is no “one way” to RV, just the right way for you. That’s why, when writing our book  Living the RV Life: Your Ultimate Guide to Life on the Road , we wanted to create a roadmap for people that would help them hit the road and thrive, keeping them on track with their personal goals while they’re doing it. That’s been a big part of our own success. We’re almost five years in now and still living and loving the RV Life. Now we’re showing others how they can do it too.

A lot of people are embracing RV/van life these days. Why do you think that is? We think it’s a perfect storm of several things colliding simultaneously:

  • A lot of people are questioning the traditional American Dream as a path to success or happiness — the idea of postponing your life, travels, and experiences until retirement just doesn’t really make sense, and of course, the future is promised to no one. Why not travel while you have youth and health on your side?
  • Technology is enabling us to live and work from pretty much anywhere, and more companies are allowing people to work remotely, and more people are starting their own businesses.
  • Then there’s social media and FOMO! With the increased awareness that RV or van life is possible through watching people’s YouTube channels, Facebook pages, and Instagram feeds, other people are beginning to realize you can travel and see cool places, and live or work in forests or by lakes — and they want to do it too. America has long been famous for iconic road trips — and RVs and van life offer the ultimate freedom : exploring the country on wheels.

julie from RV Love surrounded by beautiful nature

How much money will people need before they dive into RV life? It’s a good idea to pay off as much unsecured debt as possible before hitting the road. Less debt lightens your load and allows you to really enjoy the freedoms of RV life.

It all depends on how you want to RV, and your budget. Generally, we recommend people try to save up a few months of living expenses to get started, and as a backup for unforeseen challenges and expenses. Life happens, and you just never know when you may be hit with an unexpected expense or expensive RV repair.

As a guide, as long as you plan and budget carefully, and make a good RV purchasing decision, it’s possible to RV full-time for about $2,000–$3,000 per month. Some do it for less, and others do it for way more. But across the board, we find most RVers end up spending about the same in their RV life as they did in their regular life.

Just like in traditional life, you just have to plan to live and travel within your means. Plus, your ability to earn an income while you travel is a huge factor. If you can work from the road while you RV — as was the case for us — it can be a pretty simple trade.

For example, we sold our townhome and traded our mortgage payment, HOA, utility bills, and two car payments for:

  • A used RV, which we financed
  • A less-expensive car that we paid cash for
  • Campground and fuel expenses

What we previously spent on home repairs and maintenance for our home is now redirected to our RV. Same goes for RV insurance and roadside assistance. We tend to spend a bit more on eating out and entertainment, as we’re always on the move and experiencing new places. But it’s easy to save money by making meals in your RV, and there’s no shortage of things you can do for free, like hiking, biking, and kayaking.

Many people (like us) are able to work remotely with just an internet connection. Some work seasonally, then take a few months off to travel and explore. Other careers, like nursing, hospitality, agriculture, and construction are highly transferable to new locations, especially for seasonal work. For some lines of work, it can actually be easier to find jobs by having the ability to follow the work around the country.

We have met people who live full-time in vans or RVs frugally, for less than $20,000 per year. And we have seen others who spend well over $60,000 per year. Like all other forms of travel (and life!), expenses are variable, depending on how you do it.

What tips do you have for people who aren’t sure what RV, van, or trailer they should get? Buying an RV can be expensive, and buying the wrong RV can be even more expensive! Like anything with wheels, RVs depreciate (hard), and so doing your research in advance pays off. Before you even set foot on an RV dealer’s lot or go check out the RV you found on Craigslist, ask yourself:

  • Who is traveling with you?
  • How much do you plan to travel? (weekends, part-time, full-time)
  • Where do you want to go? (campgrounds and RV parks or off-grid camping in national forests?)

Generally speaking, you’ll want to choose the smallest RV that you feel that you can comfortably live in. Smaller RVs offer more flexibility to access more places. Larger RVs are more comfortable for extended travel but will be more limiting in terms of where you can take them, especially if you want to stay in national parks and do off-grid camping.

Don’t overinvest in your first RV — it’s the one that will teach you what is most important to you and your travel style. Start out by buying used. You will avoid the steepest part of the depreciation curve. Plus, you’ll have a much better idea of what’s important to you when it comes time to buy your second RV. It’s possible to nail it with your first RV purchase, but not without a lot of research and clarity around your priorities .

What are some common pitfalls to avoid when starting out? Full-time RVing is not a vacation, it’s a lifestyle. It’s exciting when you start. You want to go everywhere and see and do everything. Try to create a sustainable travel pace from the beginning. Stay longer in an area. It’s cheaper – in terms of fuel and campground fees – and you’ll really be able to immerse yourself, explore, and even feel like a local for a while.

Second, it’s easy for people to think they need a big RV to be comfortable, especially when coming from a bigger home. In the RV lifestyle, your environment and views are constantly changing, so your world feels a lot bigger, even if your living space isn’t. It’s easier to live in a smaller space than you might expect, especially with way less “stuff.” Remember our advice above when it comes to choosing the right RV, so you can avoid that expensive mistake.

And finally, it can be hard to resist buying gadgets and gear before you even buy your RV! Every RV has cupboards and storage of different sizes and shapes, and you won’t know what fits where until you have your RV. Save money by hitting the road with the essentials, then spend some time traveling before investing in too many upgrades or gear. You’ll want to make sure they are going to be a fit for your preferred travel style. You can always buy what you need as you go. Don’t take too much stuff! You need less than you think and can get what you need as you travel.

marc from RV Love standing in the road on a road trip

Do you have any recommended companies for vans/RVs? What about resources for finding where to camp/park? It’s a good idea to consider renting an RV or van first, to see if you even like the lifestyle. You can rent RVs from rental companies or from private individuals using a platform like RVshare , which gives you more variety in the types of RVs you can choose from.

This is really useful for helping you decide what kind of RV is right for you, before buying one. It may seem expensive, but making the wrong decision isn’t cheap either! Many large RV dealerships rent RVs, there are large rental chains like cruiseamerica.com or www.roadbearrv.com , but if you want to rent an RV from individuals for more variety, consider doing so via rvshare.com .

It is difficult to make specific recommendations about buying RVs, as there are hundreds of manufacturers, models, and types, and RVs are not like cars. The options, features, and price range of RVs vary widely. That said, we generally recommend buying a preowned RV, as they are usually more affordable, and, contrary to cars, you will generally experience fewer issues with a well-maintained preowned RV than with a brand-new unit. That’s because every RV — much like building a new house or condo — will have a “punch list” of items that need to be fixed for the first few months (or more) after you drive it off the dealer’s lot.

You can find RVs at RV dealers, on websites like RVTrader.com , as well as on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, and from friends and family. Local RV parks often have a community notice board of RVs for sale, too.

If you want to camp for free on public lands, there are websites like Campendium.com and Frugal Shunpiker’s Guides to find free camping areas. And there are thousands of RV parks and campgrounds around the country, which you can you find online, through apps, and in camping directories.

You can also look into camping memberships that offer discounts on your stays. For example, we spend a lot of time in a campground membership network that literally saves us thousands of dollars per year. Other websites and apps we recommend include CampgroundViews.com , Campendium, and AllStays. There are a ton out there, and you can find many more resources in our book and at our website, RV Love of course! 🙂

If you want more information, Marc and Julie Bennett are RVers who live, work, and travel from the road full-time, and since hitting the road in 2014, have visited all 50 USA states, plus Canada and Mexico. They are co-authors of  Living the RV Life: Your Ultimate Guide to Life on the Road , and you can follow along on their journey via their website RV Love as well as their social media channels!

A List of Awesome RV Blogs You Should be Following

Awesome blogs by RVers you should be following!

One of the most difficult things about transitioning into the full-time RV lifestyle at 23 years old was the lack of community. We felt like we didn’t have a lot of peers who had chosen a similar lifestyle. At times it made both Alyssa and I feel like a crazy person to have chosen this awkward and unconventional lifestyle.

But then we found a thriving online community of travelers out on the open road and started making friends with them via their RV blogs. The more that we met, the more we felt affirmed that we were doing the right thing.

That being said, I created a list of RV blogs from people who are out on the open road, making a living remote, and genuinely living a cool adventurous life.

Connect with them. Follow them. Make friends. Re-affirm that you aren’t crazy and if you want to live and travel in an RV before you’re retired… you should do it.

Crazy Family Adventure

motorhome travel blogs

In 2014, Bryanna and her husband Craig, their four kids (and their dog), sold everything, bought an RV and have been traveling full-time around North America since. If they aren’t climbing mountains, hiking to a waterfall or playing at the beach they are most likely at the local donut shop tasting their way to uncovering the best donuts in the country or the local brewery or cider house finding the best beer/cider in the country!

Follow the family:

We’re the Russo’s

motorhome travel blogs

Back in 2015, Joe and Kait Russo were living the American Dream. They owned a home in Los Angeles, had well-paying jobs in the corporate world, and a strong community of family and friends nearby. But something was missing. After a lot of soul searching, they realized the daily grind of long commutes and working for others wasn’t bringing them joy, and they decided to take the risk of a lifetime. They sold their home, quit their jobs, bought an RV and left the safety and comfort of home for a new beginning: life on the road.

What started as a one-year break and a chance to do some traveling turned into an adventure with no end date, new careers, and a new understanding of what it means to truly live the life you want. During their first few months on the road, Joe and Kait began posting blogs to update friends and family about their travel. That led to posting videos on YouTube and slowly, they found that they were reaching far beyond their network of loved ones. They also realized this new reach could be the key to allowing them to extend their nomadic life indefinitely.

Since then, the Russos have built a travel brand (We’re The Russos) consisting of a popular website ( weretherussos.com ), a YouTube channel with millions of total views, two books, and a loyal following of fellow travelers and dreamers. They are passionate about inspiring others to take risks and pave their own road to fulfillment.

Alyssa and I got to meet Cherie and Chris in Austin, Texas at a little get together back in 2015. We all hung out, toured their awesome bus conversion and I got to hear about their epic adventures and how long they’ve been at this RV lifestyle. After meeting them I did more research and read up on more of their blogs and realized just how awesome these two are. They met on the road and have been posting and sharing awesome RV related blog content for years. They even created an online school for mobile internet as well.

Hi! We’re Heath & Alyssa In 2014, we quit our jobs, bought an RV, and got married. During our first year of marriage, we traveled to all 50 states filming a documentary called Hourly America where Heath worked an hourly job in each state while Alyssa filmed the adventure. Our documentary work has been featured on CNN, CBS, Fox, Forbes and has led to consulting work with brands like Chick-fil-A, UPS, and Winnebago.

Here on our website, we share how to start traveling in an RV full-time—like in our book, A Beginner’s Guide to Living in an RV —and how to run a business on the road. You know, so you don’t end up one of those people living in a van down by the river. We support ourselves while traveling by running two businesses on the road. For more on making a living on the road, check out our podcast: The RV Entrepreneur . For more helpful free resources, see our Resources page.

In 2019, our daughter Ellie joined us on the road. She’s RVed across 14 states and Italy 🙂

“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” – Susan Sontag

The above quote from Susan Sontag, the American writer, is quite relevant in the context of our motorhome travels. The blue pins on the map opposite mark all the places we have stayed over on our road trips since 2007. The green pins are places we hope to visit in the not too distant future and some will turn blue on our 2022 Autumn tour.

TRAVEL BLOG CAMPSITE IDEAS

Maybe use these. Either very cheap or free. Similar to the French Aires book. The Brit stops guide is a professional publication and a lot of effort has gone into making it easy to use. Great Britain is divided into 9 areas: Southwest England, Southeast England, East Anglia, Wales, West Midlands, East Midlands, Northwest England, Northeast England, Scotland. The island of Ireland / Eire is divided into 4 areas: Ulster, Leinster, Munster, Connacht. Each section starts with a clear map showing the approximate location of each of the stopovers. Stopovers are listed four to a page, with clear symbols indicating the number of places, whether large motorhomes are accepted, any facilities available such as water or waste disposal, etc. The address, post code and phone number of each location is given, there is a paragraph of information about the hosts, and clear directions to the location. Another great travel blog idea.

To go to their site please click HERE Its £ 32  per annum P&P, use it twice and you have covered the cost. Just taken over by Holland Hosts.

Maybe use these. Very useful and cheap within Europe (as and when post Covid we can travel) There are a few in the UK, mostly in the south around the coast, we have used quite a few. The book, map and additional ACSI members card help. That card in Europe can be left as security when booking into the site rather than leaving your somewhat precious Passport, just a thought. Roughly €14 per annum and €4 for the card. Another great travel blog idea.

To go to their site please click HERE

CARAVAN & MOTORHOME CLUB SITES (C&MC)

Maybe use these. Very plentiful and of a consistent good standard within the UK, split between main sites and Certified Locations (CL) where upto 5 pitches are available per field, often in farmers fields but not exclusively so. Main sites ae generally about £28 per night for 2 and a van, CLs much much cheaper. You get a book and a map, we have stayed in loads. Love them, wish there were more, indeed friends of ours are wardens. PS they own the Alan Rogers guides. Another great travel blog idea.

AIRES (Europe)

Maybe use these. Good night stops of various sizes, quantity and quality. A great place for Motorhomers to get these is Vicarious Books here in the UK, based in Kent and very nice helpful people. Another great travel blog idea.

TRANQUIL PARKS

You may like these, "Adult Only" and quiet and peaceful. There is a book listing each of these parks (some of which cross over with those types of campsites already listed but not all. Often the are also in the Best of British Book. We have stayed at quite a few and never had any issues. Depends what you want, peace and quiet or a rave. Another great travel blog idea.  If you wish to see some more detail go to our Blog 196 and look at the Plough Lane site, thanks

NATIONAL TRUST (NT)

Don't believe they have many campsites (mostly cottages) but we have stayed at the Houghton Mill one and very nice it was to. Just an extra idea. Guaranteed to be lovely settings. Another great travel blog idea.

CAMPING AND CARAVAN CLUB SITES (C&CC)

We aren't members but have stayed at quite a few. The friendly club. Often there is a shared responsibility with the Caravan and Motorhome club. I note when name-dropping that Julia Bradbury is President. Another great travel blog idea.

All our travel blog content held here on the site, especially the travel blog on the Blog pages which by December 2022 were over 200 recounts our travel blog fun.

RELAUNCH - Official Migration from Moonfruit Dec 2021 of our Travel Blog

Since being forced by a company level decision by Yell who own both Moonfruit & WIX to recreate my motorhome travel blog (both .co.uk & .net versions of motorhome-travels)  as Moonfruit is closed (7/12/21) as a business and the old travel blog editor is no more I have taken the opportunity to both rebuild my motorhome-travels travel blog site using the significantly improved functionality of travel blog on WIX and merge the 2 disparate parts of my old travel blog into one.

I have also used this opportunity to rework my separate BIG TRIP travel blog holiday sites , namely HOLIDAY 2007-8 travel blog, HOLIDAY 2010 travel blog, HOLIDAY 2013 travel blog & HOLIDAY 2017 travel blog by recreating them as travel Blog with Menu's and incorporating them into this site as well as remaking them.  You can see all of these HERE , but principally its Blog 162 - 168 . If you would like to see those full reworked travel blog sites in full see the trailer.

A Complete Introduction to Keystone RV

motorhome travel blogs

With over 40 brands and more than 400 unique floorplans, where do you start?

We’ve outlined the 14 travel trailer, fifth wheel, toy hauler, and destination trailer models across Keystone’s lineup. Some models include multiple RV types, like the Keystone Springdale line, featuring travel trailers and a destination trailer, or the Cougar line, including luxury fifth wheels and travel trailers. Here are the 14 Keystone RV models:

  • Bullet

Outback

While the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP)  can differentiate these RV lines in terms of features, size, and amenities, explore each to understand their unique appeal. Keystone has a reputation for designing RVs based on the needs of different RVers, making it easy to find a model and floorplan that meets your criteria.

Keystone Classics Collection

Keystone Classics logo

In 2024, Keystone introduced its “ Classics Collection ,” a lineup that includes new models from several known RV lines, including Hideout, Springdale, Bullet, Passport, Arcadia, and Cougar Sport.

These Classics Collection RVs are budget-friendly versions of existing campers. By removing certain extras, Keystone made these RVs more lightweight while still offering many modern conveniences. We will indicate in the lists below which RVs are designated as “Classics”.

Let’s explore the various Keystone RV lines by RV type, starting with Keystone travel trailers.

Keystone Travel Trailers

Keystone Springdale travel trailer parked and with family camping

There are seven brands of Keystone travel trailers, comprising over 200 floorplans. These range from more affordable entry-level, single-axle travel trailers to some of the most luxurious travel trailers on the market.

Let’s start with their more affordable lines and working up to their luxury units. First up, Keystone Hideout.

Keystone Hideout

One of Keystone’s most popular brands, Hideout offers three models and 53 floorplans. From small, lightweight couples campers to family-friendly bunkhouses, you’ll find an expansive selection of affordable travel trailers. The Classics Collection models from Hideout make great entry-level options.

  • Hideout Sport Single-Axles (Classics Collection)
  • Hideout Sport Double-Axles (Classics Collection)

Keystone Springdale RVs

Similar to the Hideout, the Keystone Springdale is an entry-level line of affordable travel trailers, offering 37 unique floorplans. In general, the double-axle options will include more features than the single-axle versions, but with a selection this wide, be sure to explore the features of each floorplan and compare your favorites.

Keystone Passport

With three models comprising 26 floorplans, the Passport line is worth investigating if you’re looking for something towable that doesn’t skimp on features and amenities. Before 2024, Super Light (SL) and Grand Touring (GT) were the only Passport lines, and the main difference between the two came down to weight.

The Cougar name from Keystone has a big reputation for quality, towability, and durability. There are a total of 24 floorplans.

Keystone Fifth Wheels

Keystone’s fifth wheels are some of their most iconic towables, with the  Montana line leading the pack. There are five distinct lines of fifth wheels, not including their toy hauler versions. Their fifth wheels are designated “luxury” or “premium”.

Luxury fifth wheels often come at a higher price, but that means more amenities and features. Meanwhile, premium units may weigh less, are smaller in size, and have fewer features, but are more moderately priced. Let’s kick things off with the Cougar.

Like their travel trailer counterparts, Cougar fifth wheels are some of the most popular and beloved among RVers. Across their three segments and 21 floorplans, you get a great selection of sizes and options in towability, starting with the Cougar Sport. Notably, Keystone Cougar lines are equipped with Lippert’s anti-lock braking system . And if you haven’t seen it yet, check out the new Cougar Midnight Edition !

Keystone Toy Haulers

You get a serious selection of toy haulers from Keystone, with options for travel trailers and fifth wheels. Like their fifth wheels, Keystone designates their toy hauler lines as “Luxury” or “Premium,” but there’s some crossover.

In general, luxury toy haulers offer high-end amenities and features while maintaining plenty of hauling functionality. Premium lines include travel trailer toy haulers and the Carbon and Impact fifth wheels. Raptor and Fuzion share many similarities, so shopping across their lineups comes down to preferences like floorplans, feature packages, and color schemes.

Raptor Toy Haulers

With over 22 floorplans, Raptor toy haulers include everything from short, lightweight travel trailers to the most luxurious fifth wheel toy haulers. This line also includes the industry’s largest garage in a toy hauler.

Keystone Destination Trailers

For more stationary RV living , Keystone has four unique destination trailer RV lines. While the unique and shorter Springdale and Hideout hybrids are expansions on their respective travel trailer lines, Residence and Retreat are traditional destination trailer exclusives.

Springdale & Hideout

Coming in at just 38 feet with a travel-friendly 11-foot, 3-inch height, the Springdale and Hideout destination trailers are better suited for travel. But once you arrive at the destination, you’ll enjoy expansive space and plenty of sleeping capacity, with the lowest capable of sleeping up to eight campers. These destination trailers also boast a more robust axle construction.

In 2024, Keystone began incorporating an anti-lock braking system into many units, including all Cougar fifth wheels and travel trailers. This is an important, revolutionary safety feature that Keystone has helped introduce.

Best UK Motorhome Blogs

If you’re UK based (or looking to visit the UK) all these blogs are packed with helpful tips:

Wandering Bird Motorhome Adventures

Best Motorhome Blog for UK and Europe travel

We’re reluctant to point out the obvious, but you’re already on one of the top 10 biggest UK motorhome blogs (seriously, we got a digital medal and everything!) 🙂

We’ve helped thousands of people choose and enjoy their motorhomes and have even given advice onstage at the NEC motorhome shows – once with Mac our dog joining me! (You can watch it here ; when he started howling it was pretty funny!)

Since 2018, we’ve been touring the UK and Europe by motorhome (and motorbike) and we’ve been sharing our ideas, destinations and (copious!) mistakes on this blog.

There’s a huge amount of information here- have a click around and see what takes your fancy, or use these quick links:

Our Tour – Motorhome blog for travel inspiration

One of our favourite motorhome blogs, these guys are true story-tellers and have a way of writing which just makes you want to pack up and GO! You’ll also find yourself wondering how to change your life, downsize and run away in a van…

They split their time between home in the UK and travelling and always have a wonderful story or tidbit to share to help future travellers. Read our interview with them where they share 15 useful tips for life on the road here

Best Motorhome Blog for UK and Europe travel

Admittedly, you’ve probably heard of them as they’ve been around for a while, but we couldn’t not include their motorhome blog on this list- it’s just too good. They’ve explored all over Europe and Morocco and have even written several books on their adventures. It’s them that have inspired us to visit Morocco as soon as we can!

Tread the Globe – worldwide vanlife travel blog

Vanlife travel motorhome blog

Talking of packing up and travelling the world… would you do it in an aging campervan? In the middle of a global pandemic?

To be fair, they didn’t plan the global pandemic part, but Chris and Marianne did change their lives and deliberately set off to drive around the world in their trusty campervan, Trudy. Yes, they are literally driving AROUND the world.

They’re lovely people who’ve spent most of 2020 stuck in limbo in Turkey- and still managed to make it fun. We’re glad they’re enjoying their adventures, but they need to come home soon- we miss them!

Not sure if a motorhome or campervan is right for you? Find out here

Winterised – Motorhome skiing blog

motorhome travel blog- winter skiing

If you’ve ever considered motorhome skiing , or spending the winter in the mountains in your van, this is the motorhome blog for you. Seriously, Hannah and James know how to survive in some crazy conditions.

Their website is a wealth of knowledge about winter motorhoming and mountain motorhome travel, as well as places to stay in the mountains during the ski season.

Life Beyond Bricks – fulltime vanlife with cats!

UK Motorhome blog to follow

If you’re planning a UK motorhome tour , this is the one for you. Tash & Jon tour exclusively in the UK (for now!) and love history, so their blogs are full of interesting details and facts you might not otherwise know.

They’ve done plenty of great UK road trips and scenic drives. Even better, they tour full-time with 3 cats, so have lots of information for anyone who would like to bring their own furball on the road.

You might recognise Tash and Jon from several of our Youtube videos- like this one in Wales at the National Showcaves , or this one where wild camping went wrong !

We look forward to more adventures with them soon… (fingers crossed!)

The Urban Motorhome – fulltime motorhome living

Fulltime motorhome living blog

Many people think of fulltime motorhome living as something you do when you’re on a gap year… or selling up to go travelling.

Instead, Darran turns that on its head and lives in a motorhome… while working fulltime in the UK. He creates fantastic Youtube videos about his life, and his motorhome blog also features more information about him and his lifestyle. Great entertainment on all things vanlife.

Our Leap of Faith – motorhome blog & campsite wardens

UK & Spain Motorhome blog

Paul and Michele changed their lives to explore and travel in a van. They’ve also spent time as campsite wardens, which gives a really interesting and different perspective on how campsites work and ‘behind the scenes’.

They travel in their motorhome Paloma with Fred their adorable dog and we love seeing where they’ve discovered. It’s one of the best motorhome blogs for Spain travel- they’ve spent a lot of time there and have loads of useful info to share.

Next Stop Everywhere – vanlife adventures

UK Europe motorhome travel blog

This is another couple who know how to explore! Sam and Claire have been touring in a motorhome for a couple of years and have big plans to keep doing so.

They had plans to explore Iceland in 2020, but sadly had to spend lockdown in Denmark, before continuing to explore Europe as much as they can within the restrictions. They’re still on the road and we look forward to seeing where they’ll go next!

The Motoroamers

Thinking of trying full time motorhome living? Here are 10 things you need to know from the motorhome travel experts

Karen and Myles decided to sell up and move into a motorhome full time in 2016. Since then, they’ve been exploring the UK and Europe in Scoobie the motorhome- and sharing it on their blog.

We’ve done an entire interview with Karen and Myles about full-time motorhome living (you can read it here) but here’s a small extract:

“Life on the road has changed us in so many ways. We’ve definitely hit what we describe as a ‘purple patch’ where, generally speaking, life is good, despite our challenging moments. Travel has connected us with our deep-rooted values around  freedom ,  choice  and  simplicity .”

AdventureWheels – Accessible caravan travel blog

AdventureWheels- Accessible road trip blog

I was lucky enough to meet Karla and Stephen at an NEC show- and they’re a lovely couple. They explore the UK in their caravan and enjoy spending time outdoors, which is common enough- apart from the fact that Karla has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and requires an electric wheelchair to get around.

Experiencing road trip travel through their experiences- both the trials and tribulations- is eye-opening and well worth a read. They go to some magical places around the UK and we love discovering places with them, as well as some beautiful walks.

Town between a motorhome or caravan? Here’s how to decide…

Champers and Campers- motorhome blog & podcast

UK Fulltime Motorhome Living blog & podcast

Ok, ok, this isn’t so much a motorhome blog- it’s a motorhome podcast! Pete and Brydee live fulltime in their motorhome and are exploring the UK and Europe (or as much as they can during 2020!!)

They started a podcast during lockdown and it’s a fantastic way to learn more about motorhome life while you’re driving (or walking the dog!)

We featured on their podcast a short while ago- have a listen here !
