Saint Martin of Tours

Roman catholic church, parish outreach.

Parish Outreach is at the heart of Social Ministry. Dedicated volunteers provide direct services to families and individuals in need who are members of the parish or live within the geographic boundaries of St. Martin of Tours Parish (Amityville, East Massapequa, and parts of North Amityville & Amity Harbor) Office Hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00AM-12:30PM & 1:30-4:00PM. Please call 631-264-4840 for assistance!

Food Pantry: The food pantry is stocked with dry goods as well as refrigerated and frozen foods. Clients may obtain food from the Pantry once a month. Donations are accepted during operating hours, in the Church on the weekends, or by special arrangement with the Director.

Financial Assistance: In coordination with the Department of Social Services, Catholic Charities, and/or United Way, financial grants for utilities and rent/mortgage may be applied for. Outreach also provides limited direct financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, prescriptions, and other instances, if a plan of action for the future is arranged.

Guidance: Trained volunteers can guide you through the red tape of government assistance and other programs that may benefit your situation.

Advocacy: Volunteers can advocate on your behalf with the Department of Social Services, PSEG, National Grid, Catholic Charities, etc. Volunteers can also help fill out some basic forms.

Transportation: Volunteer drivers can provide rides to local doctors for the elderly and disabled, as well as deliver food from Outreach’s Pantry. Suffolk County Transit bus tickets are also available for various appointments.

Clothing: Vouchers for free clothing and other necessities from St. Martin’s Cloak Room Thrift Store are given seasonally.

CFSP (FAN) Program: Outreach hosts this Catholic Charities food program for income eligible seniors on the First Friday of every month, 12:00-1:00PM.

Citizenship Program: Provides counseling, advocacy and tutoring for documented people hoping to become American Citizens. Contact Mary Kearns at 631-264-0749.

Overall rating

I was shocked to learn that someone wasn't able to visit my friend's dying mother. She lives the next town over! It just breaks my heart to see her being denied a request, after everything that she had been though. Aren't we all children of God? Clearly this church doesn't believe so.

St. Martin of Tours church and school foster a wonderful faith based community welcoming all. Led by our loving Pastor and dedicated principal and staff, St. Martin of Tours is family.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John P. McLaughlin of Massapequa, New York, who passed away on March 29, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John P. McLaughlin to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Timothy Fitzgerald and Mary Fitzgerald; and his sister Patricia Haupt. He is survived by : his wife Patricia; his children, Tim Mclaughlin (Colleen Kelly), Kevin McLaughlin (Grace) and Jennifer Smyth (Thomas); and his grandchildren, Kaila, Patrick, Amelia, Molly, Devon, Dylan, Anna and Sophia.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 3rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home Inc. (67 Broadway, Amityville, NY 11701).

The family has requested memorial contributions, as alternative to flowers, be made to The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, PO Box 781352, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352.
