Electric Scooter Insurance (Do Electric Scooters Need Insurance + Best Insurance Companies For Scooters)
Electric scooter insurance is not exactly a simple matter. Still, even though electric scooters are a fairly new mode of transport, some insurance companies have managed to provide range of options.
The rules and practices differ based on the country and the insurance companies operating there.
- Electric scooter insurance
Most countries require no insurance for electric scooters, neither for the scooter nor for the rider. The only notable exceptions in the US are the state of Illinois, and the state of Texas if the scooter’s motor is over 750 Watts. In Europe, the only country that requires insurance is Germany.
What does electric scooter insurance cover?
Do you need insurance to use an electric scooter, can you get electric scooter insurance, insurance companies that specialize in electric scooter insurance, does regular insurance cover electric scooters, what kind of insurance do you need for an electric scooter, how much does insurance for an electric scooter cost, does auto insurance cover electric scooter accidents, does medical insurance cover bodily injury expenses from electric scooter accidents, can home insurance cover electric scooter theft, does umbrella insurance cover electric scooter accidents, insurance from ride-sharing companies.
Electric scooter insurance can mean coverage for any of the following:
- your personal injuries and related expenses, such as medical costs;
- injuries to others, including medical and potential legal expenses;
- damage to your electric scooter
- theft of your electric scooter
- damage to others’ property in accidents involving you and your electric scooter.
Most major insurance companies might not offer a dedicated package for electric scooters, but it’s likely you can secure coverage under motorcycle or regular scooter insurance.
Electric scooter insurance in the US is a legal necessity only in the state Illinois, and in Texas for motors exceeding 750 Watts. In Europe, only Germany requires electric scooter insurance. In other major countries, you can operate your electric scooter without insurance.
You can check out my electric scooter laws guide for more information about electric scooter rules and regulations.
Electric scooter insurance is widely available in most countries and is often a financially viable choice. Coverage for damage or theft is widely accessible, but personal insurance for riding accidents can be more complex, contingent on the location.
Electric scooter insurance companies
These are policies for electric scooters from major insurance companies. I reached out to all of them, but only a few responded, providing definitive answers. Much of the information is sourced from their websites, and it’s important to note that, in many cases, the details were provided for motorcycles, mopeds, or regular gasoline scooters instead of electric ones, leading to potential discrepancies.
The rows with the * symbol next to the company’s name are smaller companies that specialize in electric scooter insurance, and often they will be the best option for insuring your electric scooter.
Companies like Voom in the US, Cycleplan and Laka in the UK, Zego in the EU, and Luko in France are smaller, specialized insurers for electric scooters.
They might be your top choice for coverage, offering tailored packages not provided by larger insurers.
Coverage for electric scooters varies among insurance packages and companies.
Typically, regular insurance and even vehicle insurance rarely include electric scooters, as they often exclude two-wheeled vehicles.
The type of insurance you get for your electric scooter depends on what you want to cover.
- Liability insurance – essential for electric scooter riders, it protects against damages claims. Ensure coverage of at least $15,000 for bodily injury liability and $5,000 for property damage liability.
- Medical payments insurance – covers medical expenses post an electric scooter accident. Aim for at least $1,000 per person and $2,000 per accident.
- Collision insurance – while not mandatory, it helps with repair costs if your scooter is damaged in an accident—consider if you have a valuable scooter or ride in high-traffic areas.
Additionally, you can also consider further coverage:
- Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage – this coverage protects you if you are injured in an accident caused by a driver who does not have insurance or who has insufficient insurance.
- Warranty extension – coverage that helps pay for repairs to your electric scooter if it is damaged outside of the manufacturer’s warranty.
- Roadside assistance – coverage that helps you get your electric scooter towed or repaired if it breaks down.
The price for electric scooter insurance will vary based on your location and the company providing the package, but on average you can expect to pay between $20 and $30 in most cases.
None of the large insurance companies allow your auto insurance to cover electric scooter accidents, as they don’t cover vehicles with less than 4 wheels.
If you want to get insurance for when riding your electric scooter, you will have to either insure your scooter separately for damages and theft, and get some form of umbrella insurance for expenses related to personal injuries to yourself or injuries you’ve caused others.
There is a good chance that your medical insurance covers some or all of your medical expenses if you’re involved in an accident with your electric scooter.
However, your medical insurance will not cover the expenses for the injuries of other people involved in the accident.
It is possible in some cases for your home insurance package to cover the theft of your electric scooter, especially if the scooter has been stolen from your home.
Umbrella insurance policies can be set up in a way so that they cover electric scooter accidents, depending on the insurance company.
Generally, they offer liability coverage for damages or injuries to others, and possibly your injuries, but not for damages to your scooter.
Some of the biggest ride-sharing companies like Bird and Lime don’t really cover accidents with their scooters, unless the scooter itself has been defective and that defect has been the reason for the accident. Meaning that the electric scooter is insured, but the rider not really.

Do I Need to Insure an Electric Scooter?
In recent years, electric scooters have been increasing in popularity. E-scooters offer a cost-effective transportation method that doesn’t hurt the environment. Riding an electric scooter is a popular alternative to walking, riding a bus or driving a car. The rising popularity of this method of transportation has led to e-scooter sharing programs, where people can rent a scooter for transportation or even utilize it for free.
The increasing number of e-scooters has posed a challenge for insurance companies: do you need insurance for an electric scooter? In short, yes, it is important to have insurance to protect you and your loved ones’ livelihoods. However, e-scooter insurance may be more complex than people realize.
Rising E-Scooter-Related Injuries
Due to the increasing availability and use of e-scooters, injuries relating to scooters are on the rise. Many people that ride e-scooters often underestimate the risks associated with this method of transportation. Someone riding an e-scooter could lose control and injure themselves, injure others or potentially damage the e-scooter or another person’s property. Having insurance coverage for an e-scooter will help protect you in the event of an accident.
Does My Auto or Home Insurance Cover My E-Scooter?
Insurance companies often differ on what type of policy an e-scooter should be included in. Whether the e-scooter is covered, if at all, will most likely be determined by how the insurance company defines an e-scooter. Some companies deem an electric scooter as a “motorized vehicle” due to having wheels and an electric motor. In this case, if the e-scooter is covered, it could possibly be included in a client’s auto insurance policy.
However, many companies don’t provide coverage for an e-scooter on auto policies because they were designed not to require a license or registration within most states. In these instances, e-scooters typically don’t meet the eligibility requirements for an auto or motorcycle insurance policy. When insurance providers have this viewpoint, they will often consider an e-scooter as “property” and may offer liability coverage for an e-scooter on a homeowners’ insurance or renters’ insurance policy.
Ultimately, it depends on how the insurance provider views an e-scooter. If you are unsure of how your e-scooter will be covered, you should reach out to your insurance agent to review your policy.
Are E-Scooter Rentals Covered by My Insurance?
Some insurance companies will provide coverage for incidents or accidents that occur with a rented scooter. Even if your insurance company won’t cover accidents with a rented e-scooter, some e-scooter sharing companies, such as Lime and Bird, do provide coverage for bodily injury and property damage for riders who rent their scooters.
Keep in mind that it is not guaranteed that the sharing program you use will provide any e-scooter insurance coverage . If you regularly participate in renting an e-scooter from a sharing program, it may be a good idea to research the sharing program and see if there is additional information they offer about their liability coverage.
What Happens If I’m in an E-Scooter Accident?
As mentioned before, there are risks associated with riding an e-scooter, whether you own it personally or rent it. It is possible that you could get in an accident that causes injuries to yourself or others, as well as property damage. The implications of the e-scooter accident are dependent on factors including:
- Whether the scooter is owned by yourself or is rented from a sharing program
- Injuries to you or others
- Damage to yours or someone else’s property
- How an e-scooter is covered (or not) on the insurance policy
You may receive coverage for medical expenses and property damage depending on what is stated in your insurance policy or the e-scooter sharing program’s policy. It is possible that your insurance company may provide coverage for all types of expenses from the accident, specify that they will only provide coverage for the medical expenses or maybe not provide coverage for the accident at all. Being aware of what your policy says could help protect you from these risks.
Check Before You Ride
As the popularity of electric scooters continues to increase, make sure that you and your loved ones that utilize this transportation method are protected if the unexpected happens. Contact an agent for specific details about your scooter and what your coverage looks like.

Understanding Electric Scooters: A Snapshot
The last few years have seen a sudden surge in the popularity of electric scooters . From metropolitan areas to college campuses, it’s not uncommon to see people whizzing around on these compact, energy-efficient vehicles. Riding an electric scooter not only offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional transportation but also provides a unique blend of convenience and thrill.
An electric scooter, or E-Scooter, as it is popularly known, is a motorized vehicle with two or three wheels powered by electricity. The electricity is stored in a rechargeable battery that drives one or more electric motors. E-Scooters are the quintessential urban ride; they’re swift, easy to maneuver, and perfect for short commutes.
However, as fun and convenient as they may be, riding an electric scooter comes with its share of responsibilities and considerations, especially when it comes to insurance.
Navigating the Legalities: Do You Need Insurance to Ride an Electric Scooter?
Now comes the million-dollar question: Do you need insurance to ride an electric scooter? Well, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this. The need for electric scooter insurance depends on a number of factors, primarily the laws of the state you live in.
In the United States, the rules regarding scooter insurance vary from state to state. Some states require riders to have a specific form of insurance for their E-Scooters, while others may not mandate it. For instance, in California, E-Scooters are considered motor vehicles, and riders are required to have a valid driver’s license but not necessarily insurance. On the other hand, New York State requires insurance for electric scooters similar to any other motorized vehicle.
The difference in state laws can create understanable confusion for riders. It’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations where you live and ride your electric scooter. After all, ignorance of the law is not an excuse, and you wouldn’t want to find yourself on the wrong side of it.
Aside from legal requirements, insurance for an electric scooter also provides a safety net against unforeseen accidents or damages. Imagine zipping around town on your E-Scooter when suddenly, a pedestrian steps into your path, or you lose control and collide with a parked car. Without insurance, you could be looking at hefty out-of-pocket costs for damages or injuries.
So, while not always legally required, having electric scooter insurance could save you from unexpected financial burdens. But what kind of insurance should you get? What should you look for in a policy? These are important considerations that we will delve into shortly.
Types of Electric Scooter Insurance and Coverage
When it comes to electric scooter insurance, there are several types that you can choose from. Each type provides different coverage and is designed to protect you from different risks associated with riding an electric scooter.
Liability Insurance
Liability insurance is one of the most common types of E-Scooter insurance. This coverage is designed to protect you if you are at fault in an accident. If you collide with a pedestrian or another vehicle, liability insurance will cover the cost of the other party’s medical bills and property damage. However, it’s essential to understand that liability insurance does not cover your own bodily injury or property damage.
Bodily Injury Coverage
Bodily injury coverage is another crucial part of electric scooter insurance. It covers your medical expenses if you are injured while riding your E-Scooter. This includes hospital bills, rehabilitation costs, and even lost wages if you’re unable to work due to your injuries. It’s like having a safety net that catches you when you fall, taking care of your medical expenses so you can focus on recovery.
Property Damage Coverage
Lastly, there’s property damage coverage. This type of insurance covers the cost of repairing or replacing your electric scooter if it gets damaged in an accident or stolen. It’s like having a guardian angel watching over your E-Scooter, ready to swoop in and save the day if something unfortunate happens.
What to Consider When Buying E-Scooter Insurance
Now that you understand the different types of electric scooter insurance and their coverage, let’s talk about what you should consider when buying a policy.
First and foremost, consider the cost of the insurance policy. Electric scooter insurance rates can vary widely based on several factors such as your age, driving record, and where you live. Some insurance companies may offer discounts if you bundle your E-Scooter insurance with other policies like home or auto insurance. However, remember that the cheapest policy isn’t always the best. You want to ensure you’re getting sufficient coverage for your needs.
Next, think about what type of coverage you need. Do you want a policy that only covers liability, or do you want one that also includes bodily injury and property damage coverage? The answer to this question will depend on your personal circumstances and risk tolerance. If you frequently ride your electric scooter in busy city streets, for example, you might want more comprehensive coverage.
Insurance Company’s Reputation
Finally, consider the reputation of the insurance company. Do some research to find out how the company handles claims and whether they have a good track record of customer satisfaction. You can look at online reviews or ask friends and family for recommendations. After all, an insurance policy is only as good as the company that backs it.
Just like how every ride on your electric scooter is unique, every insurance policy is different. The key is to understand your own needs and risks, and to choose a policy that provides the right amount of coverage at a price you can afford. It’s not just about protecting your E-Scooter; it’s about protecting yourself and your financial future. And while insurance might seem like an unnecessary expense now, it can save you from significant financial hardship down the line.
As we delve deeper into the topic of electric scooter insurance, it’s important to understand the role that insurance companies play in this process. They’re not just there to collect your premiums — they also provide valuable services that can help you navigate the aftermath of an accident.
Role of Insurance Companies in E-Scooter Insurance
Insurance companies play an instrumental role in the electric scooter insurance landscape. These are the entities that underwrite the policies, manage the risks, and process the claims when accidents occur.
The Business of Crafting Policies
When you approach an insurance company for electric scooter insurance, it’s a bit like going to a tailor for a custom suit. Each policy is specifically designed to fit your individual needs and risk profile. The insurance companies consider several factors like your riding habits, the type of E-Scooter you have, and even your geographical location. By understanding these variables, they’re able to construct policies that are as unique as fingerprints.
Processing Claims
In the unfortunate event of an accident, insurance companies step into the role of a mediator, a little like a referee in a football match. They take on the responsibility of evaluating your claim, assessing the damages, and making decisions on compensation based on the terms of your policy.
In my own experience with an accident, I found that dealing with the insurance company was like having a safety net beneath a tightrope. Knowing there was someone there to help absorb the financial blow made the ordeal far less daunting.
Consequences of Not Having Insurance for Your E-Scooter
The thrill of cruising around on an electric scooter can be intoxicating. It’s a bit like being on a rollercoaster, feeling the adrenaline pumping through your veins. But just as a rollercoaster ride can end in disaster if safety measures aren’t followed, so too can an E-Scooter ride without insurance.
Financial Risks
If you’re involved in electric scooter accidents and you don’t have insurance, you’re like a gambler who has bet everything on a single card. You’ll be solely responsible for any damages to your E-Scooter, medical bills, and even potential lawsuits from third parties. The financial implications can be crippling, turning your fun ride into a nightmare.
Legal Implications
In some states, riding an electric scooter without insurance is akin to driving a car without a license. You could face hefty fines, points on your license, or even suspension of your driving privileges. It’s a steep price to pay for a bit of convenience.
Investing in electric scooter insurance is not just about fulfilling a legal requirement, it’s about protecting yourself from unexpected incidents and ensuring peace of mind.
Don’t let the thrill of the ride blind you to the risks involved. Consider the potential consequences and make an informed decision about E-Scooter insurance.
Closing Thoughts
Electric scooters, a relatively new player in the transportation arena, have quickly become a popular choice for many, largely due to their convenience and ease of use. However, with the rise of these devices comes a wave of legal and financial considerations, chief among them being the necessity of insurance.
As we’ve explored, the question of whether or not you need insurance to ride an electric scooter isn’t straightforward and largely depends on local laws and regulations . Various types of insurance policies are available, offering different levels of coverage to protect riders from potential liabilities and risks.
It’s important to carefully consider your needs and circumstances when purchasing E-Scooter insurance. While insurance companies play a crucial role in providing this coverage, the consequences of not having insurance for your electric scooter can be severe. In conclusion, owning an E-Scooter is not just about the convenience and freedom it provides, but also about understanding and managing the responsibilities that come with it.

What is electric scooter insurance?
Do you really know all the rules around electric scooters for adults? And do you have the right electric scooter insurance in place? We’ll tell you everything you need to know.
More people than ever are riding electric scooters so the demand for electric scooter insurance, UK wide, is soaring. Many people see them as the future of transport.
But do you really know all the rules around electric scooters for adults? And do you have the right electric scooter insurance in place? We’ll tell you everything you need to know.
What is an electric scooter and how much do they cost?
An adult electric scooter, UK wide, is defined as a two-wheel, motorised scooter. Their average speed is 12mph and you should be able to travel 11 miles on one before needing to recharge.
You can buy a motorised scooter from all kinds of shops and online retailers, and you could pay anything from £100 to £4,000. As they don’t come cheap, electric scooter insurance can be a welcome form of protection for those who have forked out a lot of money on one.
You’re legally allowed to own an electric scooter in the UK.
What exactly defines a vehicle as an e-scooter, UK wide?
The government’s definition of electric scooters, UK wide, is that:
They’re designed to carry one person only
They have an electric motor with a maximum continuous power rating of 500w
They don’t go over 15.5mph
They have two wheels aligned in the direction of travel
They have a mass of 55kg or under
They can be controlled using the handlebars linked to the steered wheel
They have their speed controlled using had controls, and a power control which defaults to the ‘off’ position.
Can I legally ride an electric scooter, UK wide, on the pavement or road?
An electric scooter is officially classed as a ‘powered transporter’. This means you’ll need to have an MOT, tax, a driving licence and electric scooter insurance to use a privately owned one in public. As this isn’t currently possible, you’re only allowed to ride one on private land. Even then, you’ll need permission from the land owner.
If you’re caught riding a privately-owned electric scooter on a public road or in another public place you could get in trouble. It’s currently considered a road traffic offence here in the UK to ride an electric scooter in a park or on a footpath or pavement.
In many other countries, it’s legal to ride an e-scooter on public roads. The UK government is currently fast-tracking electric scooter trials in some parts of the UK, with a view to legalising their use on public roads. This is because electric scooters could potentially offer people a fast, cheap and clean way to travel around their local area. Legalising electric scooter travel could also ease pressure on transport networks. Plus, it would support social distancing.
The 12-month trial uses rental scooters only, which are limited to 15.5mph. It began in the summer of 2020 and will assess the impact of electric scooters on motor traffic and safety.
If the legislation is passed, e-scooters will be allowed in the same areas as bicycles – on the road (not motorways) and in cycle lanes and tracks.
If electrical scooters are legalised for use on pavements, would I need electric scooter insurance then?
This hasn’t yet been confirmed by the UK government. However, the more electric scooters there are on the pavements and roads, the more risk there will be for things to go wrong.
You could need an MOT, tax, a driving licence and possibly electric scooter insurance to use a privately owned electric scooter in public. The government will confirm what’s needed when they decide whether to legalise electric scooters for use in public places.
What does electric scooter insurance currently cover you for?
If you have an electric scooter – also known as a personal light electric vehicle (PLEV) – it’s wise to have electric scooter insurance in place. They’re worth a lot of money so having electric scooter insurance, UK wide, could give you some helpful protection in case something went wrong.
Don’t forget that electric scooter insurance, UK wide, won’t cover you for riding on public land such as road or pavements. You’ll only be covered for use on private land.
You can get electric scooter insurance to cover you for:
Theft : As they’re expensive, electric scooters are desirable items and can be targeted by thieves.
Fire/vandalism : With electric scooter insurance, your scooter could be repaired or replaced if it was damaged by fire or vandalism.
Personal accident : Electric scooters don’t come without risk. If you had an accident you could risk seriously injuring yourself. Personal injury cover offers protection against injury and death.
Public liability : Due to travelling at speed, there’s a risk you could injure someone else in an accident. Public liability covers you for compensation claims made against you due to injury or property damage.
Do I need electric scooter insurance, UK wide?
Having electric scooter insurance isn’t a legal requirement. But the question to ask yourself is whether you could afford to replace your scooter yourself if something happened to it. If the answer is ‘no’ then electric scooter insurance could be exactly what you need to protect your prized possession.

Do I Need Insurance for My New Mobility Scooter?
It is not always legally required to purchase coverage for your mobility scooter. Depending on a number of factors, your individual need for insurance can vary. If you’re purchasing your mobility scooter through a line of credit, your lender may require you to purchase insurance. Your health insurance provider also may ask you to purchase insurance. Make sure to check if your situation deems it necessary to have your mobility scooter covered under an insurance policy.
Are There Places Where I Can’t Use My Mobility Scooter?
The only places you cannot use your mobility scooter are on public roads meant for motor vehicles, motorcycles, and public transportation. Sidewalks, crosswalks, parking lots, and other pedestrian areas are legally required to be accessible for all. Unfortunately, accidents involving motor vehicles can still occur in a crosswalk or parking lot while using your mobility scooter.
How Can I Limit My Liability?
The best way to limit your liability while owning your mobility scooter is to purchase insurance. Mobility scooters can be a large purchase, and with any large purchase, insurance can cover expenses in cases of accident, damage, or theft.
What Kind of Insurance is Right for Me?
There are two different types of insurance coverage that can work for you: property insurance and liability insurance. Policies can cover yourself, your scooter, or both yourself and your scooter.
Depending on your unique situation, you may opt to purchase only property insurance if you primarily use your mobility scooter inside of your home. If you have homeowner’s insurance, your mobility scooter may already be covered under your current policy.
If you regularly use your mobility scooter outside of your home, purchasing liability coverage may be a good option for you. This can cover you as an individual from liability if an accident were to happen where you injure someone with your device and you are found at fault.
How Much Does Insurance for a Mobility Scooter Cost?
Costs associated with purchasing insurance will vary depending on your amount of coverage, differences in monthly payments and premiums, as well as where you live. Depending on the insurance company, you may be able to pay for several years at a discounted rate. If you do decide to purchase insurance and eventually buy a new scooter or device, make sure to talk with your insurance provider about any changes that occur, as it may disrupt your ongoing policy.
Having insurance coverage for your mobility scooter can bring peace of mind to you and your family. Top bike insurance policies for electric scooters.
- March 5, 2024
Electric bikes are rapidly emerging as the future of the two-wheeler automobile sector. With the growing concerns of global warming and the need to reduce pollution, the automotive industry has shifted its focus towards manufacturing e-bikes that run on batteries. Unlike their petrol-powered vehicles, electric bikes offer a cleaner and more eco-friendly mode of transportation. As the world seeks alternative solutions to combat climate change, electric bikes are all set to become the next best option.
Just like any other vehicle, electric bikes may run into accidents and damage. To protect yourself from financial liabilities and protect your e-bike against unexpected circumstances, it’s important to have an electric bike insurance policy in place. This insurance policy can provide coverage for third-party liabilities, as well as damages to your electric bike, depending on the type of policy you choose and its terms and conditions.
In India, owning an electric bike or scooter without proper insurance is not only risky but also against the law. To comply with the legal terms, electric bike owners must purchase electric scooter insurance. This policy ensures that you continue driving on the path of protection and remain under the regulations.
Importance of E-Bikes
It is a legal requirement in many countries to have insurance coverage for any type of vehicle, including e-bikes, as per the Motor Vehicle Act, of 1988. By having e-bike insurance, you will stay updated on the law and avoid hefty fines for not having insurance.
Additionally, e-bike insurance provides financial security by covering the cost of repairing or replacing your e-bike in case of an accident. E-bikes can be expensive, and the cost of repairing or replacing damaged parts can be substantial. With dedicated electric bike insurance, you can rest assured that you will be financially protected and won’t have to bear the entire cost out of pocket.
Another major highlight of e-bike insurance is quick damage recovery. If your electric scooter gets damaged and you cannot afford to repair or replace the damaged parts immediately, a dedicated electric bike insurance can cover the expenses. It ensures that you can get your e-bike back on the road quickly without having to ride it in a damaged condition.

Things to Consider While Buying E-Bike Insurance
Here is a list of the things that you should consider while buying electric scooter insurance.
- Check the Background of the Insurer
It is the first and foremost factor that you should consider before buying e-bike insurance. Always research and collect information about the insurer. It is no secret that you should look into their history, reputation, and customer reviews. Make sure you go through their claim settlement ratio, which can easily be found on the website of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India.
- Add-Ons & Coverage
Another major factor to consider is to carefully review the coverage options provided by the insurance policy. Ensure you understand the different types of coverage offered, such as own damage, theft, and personal accident coverage. It is equally important to be aware of the exclusions and risks that are not covered by the policy.
- Consider Their Communication Aspect
In the third aspect, you should always consider the level of service the insurance company provides. Evaluate their responsiveness, communication, and willingness to assist you with any queries or concerns. Look for an insurer that offers excellent customer service and is available to address your needs. Furthermore, check how quickly they respond to your queries in case of any need.
- Go Through Their Online Service
If you prefer to purchase e-bike insurance online, make sure that the insurer provides quick, hassle-free, and convenient online services. Ensure you check if they accept online claims, 24*7 customer support, and secure an online payment gateway to make payments.
- Prioritize IDV (Insured Declared Value)
Last but not least, when it comes to choosing the right insurer, you cannot overlook the importance of IDV. The Insured Declared Valve(IDV) is the maximum coverage you will receive in the event of a claim. Ensure you think for a while and compare different insurers to choose the best e-bike insurance with an ideal coverage option.

Are Mobility Scooters Covered by Insurance?

Thousands of people who are taking their first step toward increased mobility share the same concerns. We hope to make it a little easier to weigh your options by providing you with additional information on the topic: are mobility scooters covered by insurance?
Medicare and Medicaid
What exactly is Medicare? Medicare is a federal health insurance program meant for individuals who are 65 or older or people that have certain disabilities https://www.medicare.gov/what-medicare-covers 1 .
There are several parts of Medicare, and specifically Medicare Part B can potentially cover medical supplies. Medical supplies can also be defined as power wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Depending on your diagnosis and a examination by your physician, your mobility device may be covered/partially covered by your insurance.
Private Insurance
Outside of federal insurance plans exist what are known as private insurance plans. These are plans that are offered by employers or purchased through other means. At times, these plans may also potentially cover a portion of the cost of your mobility device. The best way to verify your coverage is to contact your private healthcare plan directly.
Self-Funding
If insurance is not an option self-funding is always an avenue you can explore for gaining increased mobility. Starting a fundraiser within your local community or even checking out online fundraising applications like Go Fund Me Crowdcube, and IndiGogo, to name a few.

Russian cities battle heating outages as temps drop below freezing
Tens of thousands of people in Russia are affected by a lack of heating, water or electricity, according to Russian media reports, after frost and outdated pipes are causing outages in many cities amidst below freezing temperatures.
A main district heating pipe in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk busted on Thursday, the local media outlet Siberian Express reported.
Hot water and heating failed in more than 100 homes and 12 other buildings, while the hot water from the district heating pipe poured down a main road at minus 15 degrees Celsius.
A survey by the rosteplo.ru website showed that 3,000 people in the harbour city of Vladivostok on the Pacific were without heating on Wednesday.
In the nearby city of Nakhodka, 6,000 people were without heating, while disruptions in the cities of Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Saratov and Penza in recent days were also reported.
In St Petersburg, the rupture in a district heating pipe should be repaired by Thursday morning, according to the authorities.
In Podolsk, a city near Moscow, the heating plant of an ammunitions factory, which also supplies over 170 high-rise buildings, broke down on January 4. The town's deputy head of administration, Roman Ryazantsev, was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to the court there. About 20,000 people were affected.
This time Russian President Vladimir Putin intervened and ordered a rapid restoration of the heating supply and nationalized the ammunitions factory. Other cities in the Moscow region are also facing heating problems.
Politically, the heating supply failures are a set back for Putin, who is seeking re-election for a fifth term in March.
Affected citizens protested in some cities. In the town of Elektrostal near Moscow, some houses had allegedly not been heated since mid-December, while people are keeping warm by open fires on the street.
In its war of against Ukraine, Russia is attempting to damage the neighbouring country's energy supply by firing missiles at it, while last winter this resulted in electricity, heating, gas and water often failing in Kiev and other cities.
This winter, fewer outages are being reported in Ukraine despite the attacks.
