1. When do I need to submit my visa application? Answer: You are advised to apply for an entry visa within 30 days prior to arrival in Singapore. It is recommended to submit an application at least one week before a trip during the non-peak season and two to four weeks before a trip during the peak season (i.e. March to May).

2. Does the validity period of visa includes the date of expiry? Answer: The visa validity period is inclusive of the date of expiry.

3. Can the validity period of visa be amended? Answer: The visa validity period cannot be amended once the visa has been issued. You may wish to approach an Authorised Visa Agent to submit a new application.

4. Do I need to apply for a new visa if the visa validity period ends before my return date? Answer: There is no need to apply for a new visa as long as your travel date to Singapore is within the visa validity period.

5. How can I extend my Visa? Answer: There is strictly no extension of visa validity or change of visa type. You can submit a fresh application upon the expiry or upon utilisation of your current visa. However, please note that each visa application is assessed on its own merits.

6. How to check visa validity? Answer: The visa validity is printed on the visa.

7. Where can I download my e-Visa? Answer: You can retrieve your e-visa via the status enquiry with the visa application reference number and travel document number.

8. What if I do not have the visa application reference number? Answer: Visa application reference number is generated on the acknowledge page when a visa is successfully submitted. You may wish to contact the Authorised Visa Agent in which you had submitted the application to for the retrieval of visa application reference number.

9. What is the validity period of a Singapore Visa? Answer: Every application for a visa, including the duration of the visa granted, will be considered on its own merits and subject to approval. Applicants who are applying for the visa online are advised to submit the application about 30 days prior to the intended arrival into Singapore so that the visa validity will be sufficient for the visit.

10. Do I need a visa if I just want to transit in Singapore? Answer: Passengers who have arrived at Singapore Changi Airport and have been issued with their onward boarding passes for connecting flights out of Changi Airport may remain within the Changi Airport transit area until time for flight departure. Passengers who are able to obtain their onward boarding passes from any of the Transfer Lounges within the transit area can also remain in the transit area. All other passengers should exit the transit area as soon as possible. We wish to further highlight that most passengers who are arriving on a Low Cost Carrier (LCC) or connecting to a LCC are required to seek immigration clearance and obtain their onward boarding passes in the respective Departure Check-in Hall. Foreigners who seek immigration clearance will have to satisfy the prevailing entry requirements, which include possessing an entry visa, where applicable. All passengers are strongly advised to liaise with the relevant airlines before embarking on their journeys. For more information on flights connection and transit facilities/services, please visit the Changi Airport Group's website.

11. How do I transfer my valid visa issued on my old travel document to the new one? Answer: You can transfer your valid visa on your old travel document to the new one which you are intending to travel to Singapore with. You may approach one of the Authorised Visa Agents for assistance. Basic supporting documents required from you are:

  • Your old and new travel document (original and copy)
  • Printout of the valid visa
  • Form 14A duly completed and signed
  • Your recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months. Please see Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements.

12. What is the difference between Multiple and Single Journey Visa? Answer: If you have been issued with a single journey visa, it only allows you to use the visa once. If you possess a Multiple Journey Visa, there is no limit on the number of times that you can use the visa so long it is within the validity period. Please note that possessing a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Visitors have to satisfy the basic entry requirements before they can be considered for entry into Singapore.

13. What is the difference between visa and visit pass? Answer: Visitors must note that Singapore visa is not an immigration pass. It is a pre-entry permission for the holder of a valid Singapore visa to travel to, and seek entry, into Singapore. Possessing a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Visitors who are eligible for entry will be issued with visit passes upon arrival. These visit passes determine the number of days that visitors are allowed to stay in Singapore and it is not tied to the validity of your visa.

14. How do I appeal against my visa rejection? Answer: You are able to submit the appeal within one month from the date of the visa rejection. Applicant can submit an appeal through the Authorised Visa Agent in which the application was submitted to. Please note that the processing time for appeal is generally 14 working days depending on its complexity. Each appeal is assessed and considered on its own merits.

15. I want to know the reason for my visa rejection. Answer: ICA do not disclose the reason of rejection due to confidentiality of information. We seek your understanding on this matter.

Extension Of Validity Of Multiple Journey Visa For Nationals Of The People's Republic Of China

With effect from 1 June 2015, the validity of the Multiple Journey Visas (MJVs) issued to nationals from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) can be extended up to a maximum of 10 years. The same facility will also be extended to his spouse and children below the age of 21, if the main applicant is eligible. The visa application process and processing fee remain unchanged. As with MJVs offered to other nationals under Singapore’s visa framework, PRC nationals with a valid MJV need not apply for a visa each time they visit Singapore.

2. The move will provide greater convenience for PRC nationals, especially business travellers, who travel often to Singapore.

3. Eligible applicants will also be able to use the automated immigration clearance at Singapore’s checkpoints. More details will be announced at a later date.

FREQUENTLY-ASKED-QUESTIONS

Q1) How do I apply for a 10-year Multiple-Journey Visa (MJV)?

PRC nationals can submit their visa applications through the authorised visa agents of the Overseas Missions in China. Please check the respective Overseas Mission's website for more information about the authorised visa agents and the visa application procedure. For those residing outside China, please also check the respective Overseas Mission's website for more information about the visa application procedure. Alternatively, you may also submit your visa application online via Submission of Application for Visa Electronically (SAVE) through a local contact who is a Singapore Citizen/Singapore Permanent Resident, and who is at least 21 years old with a SingPass account. For general information on how to apply for a visa, please refer to the ICA website at www.ica.gov.sg.

Q2) Who is eligible for a 10-year MJV?

Ans: Generally, PRC nationals will be considered for the 10-year MJV if they have previously visited Singapore and their visa application is supported by relevant Singapore agencies. Extended validity of Multiple Journey Visa will help attract more visitors to Singapore

Singapore, 15 May 2015 – The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) welcomes the announcement by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) today of visa measures ( Annex A ) that will extend the validity of Multiple Journey Visas (MJVs) issued to nationals from the People's Republic of China (PRC), up to a maximum of 10 years.

The extended validity of the MJVs will reduce the hassle of having to reapply for a visa for each trip, and make it more convenient for PRC tourists to visit Singapore. This will enhance STB's efforts to increase visitor arrivals and tourism spending, which will benefit Singapore businesses and workers in tourism-related sectors such as hotels, attractions, dining and retail.

"This move will support STB's strategy of promoting quality tourism and attracting visitors from our key source markets. It is also timely as we intensify our destination marketing efforts this year, with an exciting calendar of activities planned in conjunction with Singapore's 50th anniversary. Besides China, STB is also reaching out to visitors from other key markets including Indonesia, India and Australia", said Mr Leong Yue Kheong, Assistant Chief Executive, International Group, STB.

In addition, STB is working with our embassy in China to expand the network of Authorised Visa Agents so that PRC visitors have more channels to apply for Singapore visas.

As part of its marketing efforts to drive travel demand from the PRC, STB's China office had launched a micro-movie by Singaporean director Royston Tan on 15 April 2015. This microfilm showcases unusual aspects of Singapore as seen through the eyes of a Chinese child on an exchange programme, and revolves around the budding friendship he has with his host, a Singaporean classmate. Video can be viewed on http://minisite.youku.com/STB2014/ . Details on other marketing activities including the Golden Jubilee campaign will be shared at a later date.

IMPACT – MEDIUM

What is the change? Beginning June 1, Singapore will extend multiple-journey visas valid for 10 years to nationals of the People’s Republic of China.

What does the change mean? Chinese nationals who have previously visited Singapore and whose visa applications are supported by relevant Singaporean agencies will automatically be granted the 10-year visas, allowing them to make repeat trips to Singapore without having to renew their visas as often.

  • Implementation time frame: June 1.
  • Visas/permits affected: Multiple-journey visas (MJVs).
  • Who is affected: Nationals of the People’s Republic of China and their dependents.
  • Impact on processing times: The longer visa validity period will eliminate the need to reapply for visas for each visit.
  • Business impact: The MJVs will facilitate business travel, especially for those making frequent trips.
  • Next steps: Eligible applicants do not need to apply separately for the visas; those who qualify will automatically be granted an MJV.

Background: Chinese nationals applying for a visa will be considered for the 10-year MJVs if they have visited Singapore in the past. The same visas will be extended to the main applicant’s spouse and children below the age of 21. The application process and government fees are unchanged. MJV holders will also have faster border processing by being able to use automated immigration clearance service at Singapore’s airports.

BAL Analysis: The longer validity will benefit frequent business travelers from China. However, they are reminded that while the MJV allows repeat entry during the validity period, it does not lengthen the permitted duration of each stay, which generally ranges from 14 to 30 days depending on the discretion of the immigration officer.

All You Need to Know About Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) Application in Singapore

  • by SGTI_Admin
  • May 9, 2023 August 18, 2023

what is multiple journey visa singapore

With the LTVP (MOM) , foreigners with work passes can bring in additional family members to stay in Singapore. Additionally, Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) can also sponsor LTVP (ICA) for their family members.

The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) application is specifically designed for individuals who want to stay in Singapore for a longer duration with their direct family members without the inconvenience of applying for a new visa every few months.

If you’re considering applying for an LTVP in Singapore, our article will guide you through the eligibility criteria, application process, and LTVP renewal procedure. Furthermore, we will explore the benefits of LTVP Plus (LTVP+), an enhanced version of the pass that offers even more perks. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bring your loved ones to Singapore for a long-term visit!

Different Types of Long-Term Visit Passes in Singapore

If you’re planning a long-term stay in Singapore, you may need to apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP). There are two types of LTVPs that you can apply for, each issued by a different authority:

This pass is essentially an extension of an existing Short-Term Visit Pass for family members of Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs). It is suitable for foreign visitors who wish to stay in Singapore for more than the 30 days allowed by a Short-Term Visit Pass.

This pass is intended for the family members of foreign employees who are not eligible for a Dependant’s Pass but want to live with their loved ones in Singapore.

What is LTVP+?

The Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) scheme was introduced to assist Singaporean families with foreign spouses. This new scheme offers foreign spouses of Singapore citizens who qualify a longer period of residency, providing them with greater certainty of stay. The LTVP+ also offers a range of benefits, including access to healthcare and employment opportunities.

Couples with at least one Singaporean child from their marriage are eligible to apply for the LTVP+. For those without a Singapore Citizen child, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will consider other factors, such as the duration of marriage, and generally look more favourably upon those who have been married for at least 3 years.

LTVP+ holders will be eligible for a longer period of residency in Singapore, with the LTVP+ being valid for 3 years in the first instance and for up to 5 years for each subsequent renewal. Additionally, LTVP+ holders will receive healthcare subsidies for inpatient services at restructured hospitals, which are set at a level close to that for Permanent Residents.

Furthermore, LTVP+ holders seeking work in Singapore will find it easier to do so. Prospective employers of LTVP+ holders can apply to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for a Letter of Consent (LOC) on their behalf, instead of an Employment/S Pass or Work Permit.

  • If your LTVP application is approved, you will receive the email notification.
  • Upon in-principle approval of the Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) application, you can enquire the application status and download the term and conditions for issuance of LTVP and medical report form (for those who are required to undergo a medical check-up). The applicant must upload the completed forms within 30 days from the in-principle approval date. Otherwise, the application will be considered withdrawn.
  • Once the uploaded document(s) are verified by ICA, the applicant will be notified via email to make payment using the e-Service . Payment of S$60 for applicant’s LTVP and S$30 for a Multiple Journey Visa (if applicable) must be made within 30 days upon receiving the email notification, otherwise the approval will be withdrawn.
  • Once the payment has been made, the applicant will be informed if he/she is required to visit ICA Building physically for the issuance of LTVP. If applicant is required to visit ICA Building, the applicant can download the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter which is valid for three months from date of issue. With effect from 27 February 2023, a digital Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) will be issued in place of a physical LTVP card.

Here are the steps for applying Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) at the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in Singapore:

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) website contains detailed information regarding the specific documents required for each type of application.
  • Your Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) application can be submitted online via myMOM portal by your employer or Employment Agency (EA). It is essential to complete all mandatory fields and provide the relevant supporting documents. Additionally, an application fee of S$105 must be paid before submitting the application.
  • The processing time for Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) application varies and can take up to 8 weeks. You can check the status of your application on the MOM website.
  • If your application is approved, you will receive the in-principle approval (IPA) letter via email. The applicant must enter to Singapore within 6 months (for EP holder) or 2 months (for S Pass holder) from the date of approval.
  • An email notification letter will be sent to you, which will remain valid for 1 month. This notification will contain instructions on completing the card registration process, which includes paying the approval fees of S$225 for each pass, and S$30 for a multiple journey visa (if applicable). The card registration formalities comprise undergoing a medical check-up, registering fingerprints, and having your photo taken.
  • After completing the registration process and your documents are verified, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will dispatch the card to the provided address within 5 working days.

Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) Renewal

To renew an LTVP issued by the ICA , you need to apply at least 2 months before your current LTVP expires. This is to ensure that your application can be processed and approved before your current pass expires. You can apply for renewal online through the ICA’s e-Service portal.

If your LTVP is issued by the MOM , you can apply for renewal up to 6 months before it expires. It is recommended that you start the renewal process early to allow for any delays in processing. Your employer or EA can apply for renewal through the EP Online.

It is important to note that renewals are not guaranteed. You will still need to meet the eligibility criteria and provide all the necessary documents for evaluation.

Multiple journey visa extended to 10 years for visitors from China

SINGAPORE — Nationals from the People’s Republic of China will be able to extend the validity of their Multiple Journey Visas for up to a maximum of 10 years from June 1, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a statement today (May 15).

The visa allows Chinese visitors to come and go from Singapore without having to reapply each time. If the main applicant is eligible, the same facility will also be extended to their spouse and children under the age of 21, said ICA. The application process and processing fee for the visa remains unchanged.

ICA added: “The move will provide greater convenience for PRC nationals, especially business travellers, who travel often to Singapore.”

Eligible applicants will also be able to use the automated immigration clearance at Singapore’s checkpoints, said ICA, adding that more details will be announced at a later date.

Singapore’s Multiple Entry Visa: Convenient for Travelers

Multiple entry visa for singapore.

For frequent travellers, having to apply for a visa every time they want to visit a country can be a hassle. Luckily, Singapore offers a convenient solution: the multiple entry visa. This type of visa allows visitors to enter and exit Singapore as many times as they want within a certain period.

The multiple entry visa is suitable for those who travel to Singapore regularly, whether for business or pleasure. It saves time and money by eliminating the need to apply for a visa every time you visit. Additionally, it offers more flexibility in planning your travel schedule.

Benefits of Having a Multiple Entry Visa

One of the most significant advantages of having a multiple entry visa for Singapore is the convenience it provides. Frequent travellers can enter and exit the country without having to apply for a visa every time. This saves them time and eliminates the need to reschedule travel plans due to visa processing delays.

The multiple entry visa also has economic benefits. Singapore is a hub for commerce, and businessmen often need to travel to the country for meetings, conferences, and trade shows. Having a multiple entry visa saves them money on visa fees and allows them to enter and exit the country more easily.

Furthermore, the multiple entry visa is useful for those who have family or friends living in Singapore. It allows them to visit their loved ones more frequently and stay for longer periods.

Eligibility Criteria for Singapore’s Multiple Entry Visa

To be eligible for a multiple entry visa for Singapore, visitors must meet certain criteria. First and foremost, they must have a valid passport with at least six months of validity left. Additionally, visitors must have a clean criminal record and be able to prove that they have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay.

Visitors must also demonstrate a need for multiple visits to Singapore. This can be done by showing proof of previous visits or providing a detailed itinerary of their future travel plans. Finally, visitors must have a valid reason for their visits, such as business or tourism.

How to Apply for a Singapore Multiple Entry Visa

Applying for a multiple entry visa for Singapore is a straightforward process. Visitors can apply online or at a Singaporean embassy or consulate in their home country.

The application process requires visitors to provide their personal information, passport details, travel itinerary, and proof of financial means. They may also need to provide a letter from a sponsor or employer and a letter of invitation if they are visiting for business purposes.

After submitting their application and paying the visa fee, visitors can expect to receive a decision within a few days to a few weeks. If approved, their multiple entry visa will be valid for up to two years.

Making the Most of Your Singapore Multiple Entry Visa

Once visitors have their multiple entry visa for Singapore, they can make the most of it by planning multiple trips to the country. Singapore is a vibrant destination with plenty to see and do, from exploring its cultural landmarks to sampling its world-renowned cuisine.

Visitors can plan multiple trips around Singapore’s numerous festivals and events, such as the Singapore Food Festival or the Chinese New Year celebrations. They can also explore the city’s many attractions, such as the Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, or the Singapore Zoo.

Furthermore, visitors can use Singapore as a hub to explore other destinations in the region, such as Thailand, Malaysia, or Indonesia. With multiple entries allowed, visitors can travel to Singapore as often as they like and use it as a starting point for their travels.

A multiple entry visa for Singapore is a convenient travel companion for frequent visitors to the country. It eliminates the need to apply for a visa every time you visit, saving time and money. Additionally, it offers more flexibility in planning your travel schedule and allows you to make the most of your time in Singapore. By meeting the eligibility criteria and following the application process, visitors can easily obtain a multiple entry visa and enjoy all that Singapore has to offer.

CHANGES TO SINGAPORE VISA & IMMIGRATION: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

what is multiple journey visa singapore

MARCH 2024 UPDATE

Minimum qualifying salary for new singapore employment pass applicants to increase in 2025.

As recently announced, the qualifying monthly salary for Singapore Employment Pass applicants will increase from S$5,000 to S$5,600 in 2025. For employees in the financial services sector, the qualifying monthly salary will be raised from S$5,500 to S$6,200.

Manpower Minister Tan See Leng announced that the new qualifying salary will take effect a year later, on Jan 1, 2026, for Employment Pass renewal applications.

Employment Pass qualifying salaries for new applicants were last raised in September 2022 by S$500. The minimum salaries for new S Pass applicants were also increased at that time.

The qualifying salary for Employment Pass applicants is benchmarked to the top one-third of salaries for local professionals, managers, executives and technicians, and increases progressively with age.

SEPTEMBER 2023 UPDATE

Beginning 1 September 2023, Employment Pass (EP) candidates must adhere to a two-stage eligibility framework. In addition to meeting the qualifying salary (Stage 1), EP candidates must pass a points-based Complementarity Assessment Framework (Stage 2).

COMPASS enables employers to select high-potential foreign professionals, while improving workforce diversity and building a strong local core. It is a transparent system that gives businesses greater clarity and certainty for employment planning.

The following posts explains changes that are happening to Singapore visa and immigration beginning 1 September 2023.

Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS)

COMPASS will apply to:

  • New applications from 1 September 2023
  • Renewals for passes expiring from 1 September 2024

Singapore VI 09.01.23

How COMPASS Works

Source: Ministry of Manpower Singapore

COMPASS evaluates EP applications based on a holistic set of individual and firm-related attributes. The application is scored on four foundational criteria. Applications earn points if they meet or exceed expectations, and 40 points are required to pass COMPASS.

The application can also earn extra points under the bonus criteria if it meets the relevant qualifying conditions. These criteria recognise applications that bring in skills that are in shortage or support strategic economic priorities, thus creating good jobs for Singaporeans.

  • Small firms with fewer than 25 professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMET) employees score 10 points on C3 and C4 by default.
  • Skills bonus is reduced to +10 if the share of candidate’s nationality among the firm’s PMETs is one-third or higher.

Exemption from COMPASS

Your candidate is exempted from COMPASS if they fulfil any of these conditions:

  • Earning at least $22,500 fixed monthly salary (similar to the prevailing Fair Consideration Framework job advertising exemption from 1 September 2023)
  • Applying as an overseas intra-corporate transferee under the World Trade Organisation’s General Agreement on Trade in Services or an applicable Free Trade Agreement that Singapore is party to
  • Filling a role on a short-term basis (i.e., one month or less)

Changes to Verification Requirement

With the implementation of COMPASS, post-secondary diploma and above qualifications declared to Ministry of Manpower will have to be supported with a verification proof. This requirement applies to new EP applications from 1 September 2023, and renewals from 1 September 2024.

Employers who need points from these qualifications in COMPASS have to declare them in the EP application. Otherwise, there is no need to declare qualifications.

Verification Proof Requirements

Employers must ensure that their candidates’ qualifications are authentic and were awarded by accredited institutions.

Higher Qualifying Salary

Eligibility for employment pass.

Only eligible candidates will be considered for an Employment Pass. Criteria include earning a salary of at least $5,000, which is benchmarked against the top one-third of the local professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMET) salaries by age.

At least $5,000

(increases progressively with age from age 23, up to $10,500 at age 45 and above)

(increases progressively with age from age 23, up to $9,300 at age 45 and above)

At least $5,500

(increases progressively with age from age 23, up to $11,500 at age 45 and above)

The changes to the EP framework will apply progressively to give employers time to adjust:

Job Posting Requirement

Consider all candidates fairly before you apply for an employment pass.

To promote fair employment practices and improve labour market transparency, employers submitting Employment Pass (EP) applications must first advertise the job on MyCareersFuture and consider all candidates fairly.

Fair Consideration Framework (FCF)

The Fair Consideration Framework (FCF) sets out the requirements for all employers in Singapore to consider candidates fairly for job opportunities. Employers should not discriminate against candidates based on non-job related characteristics such as age, sex, nationality/citizenship or race.

Sirva-relocation-experts-for-visa-and-immigration

From 1 September 2023, the salary threshold for exemption from FCF job advertising requirement will be raised to $22,500.

Experienced Tech Professionals

5-year duration employment pass for experienced tech professionals with skills in shortage.

From September 2023, experienced tech professionals with skills in shortage may apply for a longer 5-year duration Employment Pass.

This will give greater certainty to experienced tech professionals as well as businesses hiring them, and allow Singapore to anchor tech capabilities in areas where the local pipeline is still being developed.

Salary Criterion for Personalised Employment Pass

Eligibility and requirements for personalised employment pass (pep).

Eligible high-earning foreign professionals can apply for a Personalised Employment Pass (PEP). Pass holders have greater job flexibility than with other work passes.

From 1 September 2023, the fixed monthly salary criteria for both existing EP holders and overseas foreign professionals will be raised to $22,500. This is benchmarked to the top 10% of EP holders.

Please contact Immigration Team Lead, Wendy Tio at [email protected] if you have any enquiries. Sirva will continue to stay on top of visa and immigration changes and communicate any changes that might evolve.

what is multiple journey visa singapore

Do you mean you go one day trip to bali?

If you got multiple visa with 19 June expiry, you may able to come back on 15 June.

But since you already extended your visa, it will be subject to approve from the immigration officer. So kinda risky.

what is multiple journey visa singapore

Firstly do you have a multiple entry visa? Do take note that the multiple entry visa and the visit pass that is stamped in your passport by the immigration officer are two different things.

The visit pass stamped in your passport allows you to stay in Singapore until the pass expiry. This is independent of the entry visa that you applied in India.

Now if you only have a single trip visa applied from India, then once you exit Singapore, you cannot return to Singapore again. You have to apply for a new tourist visa in order to return to Singapore. If you have a multiple trip visa applied from India, you can enter Singapore again provided this visa has not expired.

Sounds like a visa run and attempt to get another 30 days stamp. For sure, the immigration will see this as highly suspicious.

kpradhan81, are you working in Singapore?

what is multiple journey visa singapore

If you don't have a multiple-entry visa to begin with, this plan is totally out of the question.

Any plan/ scheme/ games with Visas and Immigration is out of the question.

Consequences may be severe, and only fools will risk...

Singapore is ready to offer incredible places, such as the Botanic Gardens. Although the city seems to have countless concrete buildings, the Botanic Gardens are a great escape. Check the walking trail that leads to the garden’s heritage trees. The government has decided to preserve them in an effort to protect the city’s mature tree species. Also, explore the National Orchid Garden, the eco-lake, bonsai garden, sculptures, and the eco-garden.

Head to the Singapore Zoo, where you can find orangutans. You can see them picking up fruit. Don’t miss the chimpanzees, zebras, a Komodo dragon, white tigers, kangaroos, and other fascinating creatures. We recommend exploring this facility for around three hours. Check the Night Safari, River Safari, and the Jurong Bird Park. You can opt for an exclusive experience with the Singapore Zoo Breakfast with the Orangutans. As the name says, you can enjoy a fun day with the orangutans while they enjoy their breakfast.

Singapore plans to make visa process easy for Indians

alt=

The Singapore Tourism Board is working on an easy tourist visa process for Indians and is expecting over 1.5 million visitors from the country in 2024. As per reports, the country is focusing on increasing its hospitality infrastructure such as hotel rooms, and working on seamless and easy visas for them, a senior tourism official said recently. Before the pandemic-induced lockdown, Singapore had received 1.4 million tourists from India in 2019, which then recovered to 1.1 million in 2023.

In 2024, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has not set any target given the huge tourism potential of the Indian market. With three offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, the STB is working on getting seamless and easy visas for Indian tourists, Poh Chi Chuan, executive director of Exhibition & Conference at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) told PTI.

More hotel rooms, new carriers The island state is building infrastructure for tourists and business travellers, such as 9,000 new hotel rooms that are being added to about 72,000 existing rooms. We need visitors to come and fill these rooms, Poh underlined and hoped The flights between India and Singapore get back to the pre-pandemic level. New carriers are operating in India and once they start flying internationally, the number of tourists would increase, Poh added at a press conference.

On February 9, the agreement between China and Singapore regarding mutual visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports came into effect. With the implementation of the "mutual visa exemption" policy, two-way travel between China and Singapore has become easier.

Singapore has always been one of the most popular outbound destinations for Chinese citizens, and the visa waiver policy between the two countries is conducive to the development of tourism on both sides. The implementation of the visa-free measures will further strengthen Singapore's status as an international tourist city, and play an important role in Singapore's service economy. The visa-free era will also promote people-to-people cultural exchanges, which will play an important role in the long-term friendship and mutual understanding between China and Singapore.

First of all, Singapore has a convenient and efficient transportation system as a regional transport hub. Singapore's Changi Airport is one of the busiest aviation hubs in Asia, and Chinese tourists can easily reach Singapore by different flights. With the surge in demand for two-way travel between Singapore and China, airlines will operate between the two countries at a much higher frequency than before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, as an international tourist city located in Asia, Singapore has abundant tourism resources and unique cultural exchanges. Singapore is home to world-renowned attractions such as Sentosa Island and Gardens by the Bay, among others, which are attractive to Chinese tourists. Given the constraint of its relatively limited land area, Singapore continues to develop tourism content. Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore's most iconic tourist attractions, as well as the newly completed Singapore Bird Park at World of Wildlife.

In order to attract more Chinese tourists, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has been actively engaged in marketing and promotional activities and has partnered with China's tourism agencies to enhance the visibility and influence of Singapore's tourism in the Chinese market through brand promotion.

Singapore also participates in travel exhibitions held in China to showcase its tourism resources and services to further attract Chinese tourists. In addition, the STB signed a two-year strategic cooperation memorandum with UnionPay International in November 2023, to create a more convenient payment environment for inbound Chinese tourists.

Chinese tourists' interest has gradually been shifting to local culture over the past few years, and there is an increasing demand for new products related to the integration of culture and tourism.

Recognizing the changing needs of Chinese tourists, the STB launched new travel initiatives in 2023 to enhance the leisure travel experience as well as new or upgraded attractions. In November 2023, the STB also launched a series of creative travel schemes, including immersive experiences with forest bathing and naturopathy, and city walks to experience food sustainability. These new initiatives allow visitors to experience the multi-racial and multicultural atmosphere of Singapore.

In response to the new travel demands and preferences of some tourists, Singapore is attracting overseas tourists to Singapore by hosting high-profile international events, such as music festivals and sporting events. Taylor Swift's concerts held in Singapore also effectively boosted the local economy recently.

Moreover, Singapore is in a good state of law and order. Singapore's renowned legal system protects the legitimate rights and interests of tourists and punishes acts that infringe on their rights and interests, which provides Chinese tourists with the guarantee of peace of mind to travel to Singapore.

China can learn from Singapore's experience in developing tourism and attracting foreign tourists. First, China's tourism authorities and enterprises can promote Chinese tourist attractions and cultural and natural scenery by expanding cooperation with local tourism operators and hosting exhibitions and promotional roadshows overseas.

Secondly, according to the travel preferences of foreign tourists and the characteristics of specific tourism groups, different tourism routes and tourism packages should be designed to attract overseas tourists to visit China. Third, more convenient services can be provided for foreign tourists traveling to China, such as the simplified visa application and more payment methods. The recent introduction of immigration facilitation measures by the Chinese authorities willsurely help attract more foreigners to visit China.
