27th Historic Dennisville Christmas House Tour

Get a festive glimpse of a historical Christmas in Dennisville! The 27th annual Historic Dennisville Christmas House Tour is set for Saturday, Dec. 17 from 3 to 8 p.m., featuring a public tour of beautifully decorated 18th and 19th century historic homes, as well as several public buildings and churches. This tour is sponsored by the Dennisville Historic Home Owners Association, Inc.

Highlights include refreshments at the Dennisville United Methodist Church Social Hall and Dennis Volunteer Fire Station, a performance in period costumes by the Middletones Carolers, Middle Township High School’s a cappella vocal quartet, new and antique equipment on display at the Dennis Volunteer Fire Station, and more!

Prior to the tour at 2 p.m., the South Dennis Trinity United Methodist Church will host a soup and sandwich supper until the food runs out. Cost is $8 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

The featured home for this year’s tour is the Herbert M. and Harriet Carroll House, built in 1883 in a Gothic Revival style. Herbert Carroll was a 55-year-old widowed merchant living in the house with three sons and a daughter. The house currently serves as parsonage for the Dennisville United Methodist Church.

Tickets for the Historic Dennisville Christmas House Tour are $10, and will be sold at the Dennisville Post Office, 24 Hall Ave., the day of the tour beginning at 2:30 p.m. Alice Belanger McGuigan’s illustrated “Historic Dennisville: A Walking Tour” will also be available for sale. Advance ticket sales are available online at www.dhhoa.org . The day of the event, greeters will distribute programs and direct tour goers. Houses open at 3 p.m. Bring a flashlight to more easily navigate the walking portions of the house tour.
