Where does Disney sail?

Disney's fleet of cruise ships, disney cruise costs, how to save money on a disney cruise, disney cruise costs, recapped.

If you’ve caught yourself researching Disney cruises lately, we don’t blame you — with waterslides galore and a reputation for luxury, Disney cruises can be a lot of fun. But they can also be pricey, and those costs can add up if you’re sailing with multiple people.

If you’ve been asking, “How much is a Disney cruise?,” we have the answer for you. Let’s look at the options for cruises, how much they cost and ways you can make them more affordable.

No matter where you’re looking to go, Disney likely has a cruise for you. Sure, you won’t find ships heading to Antarctica, but there are still plenty of destinations from which to choose, including:

New Zealand.

Pacific Coast.

Panama Canal.

South Pacific.

Trans-Atlantic.

Many of these destinations are oriented toward North American travelers, but you’ll find options scattered all over the world.

Despite its wide variety of destinations, Disney operates only six ships. Its newest ship, the Disney Treasure, is set to launch in December 2024.

Along with the Disney Treasure, you can opt to sail with:

Disney Dream.

Disney Fantasy.

Disney Magic.

Disney Wonder.

Disney Wish.

So, how much should you save to cover Disney cruise costs? The short answer: It depends.

No, that’s probably not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth. The price of a Disney cruise is going to be influenced by a variety of factors, including:

Where you’re going.

The trip’s duration.

Which Disney ship you’re on.

How many people you’re traveling with.

The type of stateroom you book.

Any add-ons or specialty bookings you choose.

If you’re looking for an all-out experience, it’s pretty easy to rack up a big bill. Disney cruises are well known as an expensive option, but tacking on high-end touches such as a concierge room and spa visits will really drive up the price.

disney cruise starting price

The cheapest cruises you’ll find tend to sail from San Diego, and they’re the shortest trips as well. We searched for sailings across the calendar and found the cheapest rates rang in at $1,326 for two guests in an inside room on a three-night trip from San Diego.

In contrast, the most expensive cruise we found was a 10-night option that travels through Iceland, Norway, France and Denmark. The price tag came in at $6,489 for two guests in an inside cabin and rose to $28,089 for a concierge-level room.

There’s no denying that Disney cruises can be expensive. However, there are ways you can save money on your booking.

Find discounted sailings

disney cruise starting price

This first option seems obvious, but you’ll want to specifically search for discounted sailings. Although Disney doesn’t always offer sales, if they are available, you'll find them on the Disney cruise line page — just click “Show special offer filters” when searching.

disney cruise starting price

The special offers filter will let you know what types of discounts are available, like the example above promoting up to 35% off on select sailings.

Skip the add-ons

The base fare for these trips includes almost everything, so if you’re looking to drop the cost of a Disney cruise, consider avoiding add-ons. This means skipping out on things like wine tastings and specialty drinks as well as forgoing dinner at Palo, the adults-only Italian restaurant that comes with additional costs.

Instead, enjoy the plethora of complimentary activities, such as pools, movies, shows, karaoke, dancing and more. And when it comes to food and beverage, simply sip the included soda and coffee, eat the (already amazing) free food and don’t forget to order a Mickey ice cream bar with your complimentary room service.

Disney is notable in that it also allows you to bring your own alcohol on board. Each guest older than 21 can bring up to two bottles of wine or six cans of beer when they first board and at every port of call. Considering that alcohol on the ship can be pretty expensive, this is a good way to save money.

Use a promotion

disney cruise starting price

Do you live in Florida or Southern California? Or perhaps you’re a member of the U.S. military ? If any of these apply to you, you may have special access to discounted Disney cruise prices.

disney cruise starting price

You’ll be able to find these deals via that special offers filter shown above. For example, that three-night San Diego sailing mentioned above dropped from $1,326 to $1,164 once we selected the U.S. military filter.

Redeem points

Last, but certainly not least, is the option to redeem your points for a Disney cruise. While there’s no good way to transfer points directly, there are still ways you can use points toward your booking.

The most convenient way is by using a credit card that’ll wipe away your travel costs. Plenty of cards have this feature, but two fairly decent ones are the Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card and the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card . Both cards will allow you to redeem your points toward purchases at a rate of 1 cent per point.

Even better, these redemptions can be stacked with other discounts, allowing you to drop your costs even more. For example, a member of the U.S. military can redeem 116,400 Capital One Miles to pay for their entire cruise, an excellent double dip that saves money and miles.

The cost of a Disney cruise can vary dramatically based on your needs and sailing preferences. However, you should expect to spend at least $1,000 on a cruise for two passengers. The price goes up from there depending on your cabin selection, trip duration and destination choices, among other options.

If you’re looking to save money on a Disney cruise, consider waiting for a sale, checking relevant discounts or redeeming points to help keep your out-of-pocket costs low. And if you like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage every once in a while, we recommend bringing your preferred drink with you on board.

How much does it cost to go on a Disney Cruise? (2024)

Last updated on Jan 1, 2024 by Adam Bryan . This post may contain affiliate links.

In this post, I’m going to answer a common question: How much does it cost to go on a Disney Cruise? I’ll breakdown, in great detail, how much you should expect to pay on staterooms, adult-exclusive meals, excursions, transportation, alcohol, shopping, and more.

Now before I get started, I just want to let you know that there isn’t a specific price that you should except to pay only because everyone’s situation and vacation style is different. Plus there are so many different cruises, dates, and destinations, that the prices will not be as accurate as I’d hope.

That said, I’ll try to average out how much you should expect to pay in every aspect of a Disney Cruise based on stateroom type.

And as a baseline, I’ll use a family of two (2 adults) as an example throughout only because I have the most experience cruising as a party of 2. But I’ll be sure to also add some price examples for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children)

Total Disney Cruise Costs (to save you some time)

Factors that affect the price of disney cruise.

  • What’s Included in the Price on a Disney Cruise

What Costs Extra on a Disney Cruise?

Adult-exclusive dining, port adventures, extra spending.

Transportation

Are there any Disney Cruise Discounts?

Example: disney cruise costs for a family of 4, so is a disney cruise worth it, prices for disney cruises, frequent asked disney cruise price questions.

This is how much you should expect to pay on average per stateroom for a 3-Night Bahamian Cruise on the Disney Wish leaving out of Port Canaveral for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children):

  • Inside: $3,196
  • Oceanview: $3,358
  • Verandah: $3,568
  • Concierge: $6,557

I used this specific cruise because I believe as a first time cruise (or at least Disney Cruiser), this is one of the better options because it’s the shortest duration , it’s generally the cheapest , and it always falls on a weekend .

Don’t worry, I’ll also be sure to include examples of prices for cruises that go to Alaska, Eastern and Western Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, and Cabo.

How much does a Disney Cruise cost

There are several factors that greatly affect the price of a Disney Cruise:

  • Time of year – prices are always higher during peak vacation times and holiday breaks
  • Destination – certain destinations are pricier than others
  • Length of cruise – A longer cruise will always cost more than a shorter cruise, regardless of stateroom type.
  • Stateroom – the biggest price discrepancy will always be your stateroom type (with Concierge Staterooms always being the most outrageously expensive)

One thing that I’ve started to notice is that Disney Cruise prices don’t change drastically the closer or further away that you book.

As you probably noticed for airplane tickets, the prices skyrocket the closer you are to your desired date. But when it comes to cruises, the prices don’t change as much. The only thing that may seem to affect the price is stateroom availability and stateroom type.

Especially nowadays, there are a lot more guests canceling cruises or moving dates that you might find a perfectly affordable room in a seemingly sold out cruise.

How much does it cost to go on a disney cruise?

There are 4 categories of staterooms aboard every Disney Cruise ship:

The price difference between Inside, Oceanview, and Verandah is actually pretty minimal. But that totally changes once you get to the Concierge Level of staterooms.

I won’t go into great detail about sailing in a Concierge Stateroom in this post, but instead I recommend that you check out this in-depth guide . All I can say is that if you can afford it, it’s 100% worth it, especially on the Disney Wish . It will, however, ruin cruising in any other type of stateroom ever again, so beware lol.

Here is a quick breakdown of each stateroom type as well as their average prices for a party of two on popular itineraries aboard the Wish, Magic, Wonder, Fantasy, and Dream:

Surprisingly spacious staterooms that don’t have a window or balcony. These inside rooms can accommodate 3 to 4 guests.

Here’s the average price for two guests in the cheapest room :

  • 3-Night Bahama from Port Canaveral (Wish) = $2,099
  • 7-Night Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral (Fantasy) = $3,551
  • 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver (Wonder) = $2,567
  • 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona (Dream) = $3,274
  • 4-Night Western Caribbean from Galveston (Magic) = $1,902

Beautifully style rooms for 3 to 4 guests that features a stunning oceanview through an in-room porthole.

  • 3-Night Bahama from Port Canaveral (Wish) = $2,289
  • 7-Night Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral (Fantasy) = $3,976
  • 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver (Wonder) = $3,183
  • 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona (Dream) = $3,568
  • 4-Night Western Caribbean from Galveston (Magic) = $2,086

Spacious stateroom for 3 to 5 guests that offer private verandahs/balconies. These are the biggest non-concierge rooms aboard any Disney Cruise.

  • 3-Night Bahama from Port Canaveral (Wish) = $2,527
  • 7-Night Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral (Fantasy) = $4,942
  • 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver (Wonder) = $5,220
  • 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona (Dream) = $3,932
  • 4-Night Western Caribbean from Galveston (Magic) = $2,302

Concierge level staterooms are the most opulent and spacious onboard and the only level that you’ll actually find suites. Rooms can accommodate parties of 5 to 7, with most (except for a handful on the Wish) featuring a verandah (aka balcony).

The suites are incredible but the Concierge perks and extremely attentive service is what separates these rooms from any other class onboard.

  • 3-Night Bahama from Port Canaveral (Wish) = $5,093
  • 7-Night Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral (Fantasy) = $10,603
  • 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver (Wonder) = $14,663
  • 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona (Dream) = $11,170
  • 4-Night Western Caribbean from Galveston (Magic) = $4,574

Disney Cruise staterooms are pretty expensive compared to similar ones from Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. But with the worldclass service, delicious dining, incredible kid clubs, and amazing included amenities, I think that the premium price is well worth it.

Disney Cruise Line, unlike most mainstream cruise companies out there, does not offer a typical alcohol package.

They do however, offer 6-pack beer packages as well as 3, 4, 5, or 7-bottle classic or premium wine package that you can purchase before your cruise or on board.

Cocktails and other adult beverages can be purchased a la carte throughout the entire duration of your cruise at all restaurants, bars, lounges, and even Castaway Cay. And honestly, price-wise, they are pretty affordable for Disney standards.

Currently a 6-pack of Beer costs $33.75 . Options included Bud Light, Budweiser, Coors Light, Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Blue Moon, Corona, Guinness, and Heineken.

A 6-pack of Truly costs $25 .

And lastly, here is the wine package pricing:

  • 3-Bottle Classic Wine Package = $98
  • 3-Bottle Premium Wine Package = $148
  • 4-Bottle Classic Wine Package = $128
  • 4-Bottle Premium Wine Package = $196
  • 5-Bottle Classic Wine Package = $153
  • 5-Bottle Premium Wine Package = $240
  • 7-Bottle Classic Wine Package = $206
  • 7-Bottle Premium Wine Package = $316

Guests staying in Concierge Staterooms will have a complimentary happy hour from 5 pm to 8 pm (sometimes 10 pm) every night inside of the Concierge Lounge.

Disney offers adult-exclusive restaurants on all of their ships, all of which feature a both an a la carte and prix-fixe menu.

The adult-exclusive restaurants on board are:

  • Palo Steakhouse
  • Enchanté by Chef Arnold Lallement

Palo is offered on the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy, and features classic Northern Italian cooking with a modern twist. Palo costs $45 per person for dinner or $70 for the wine pairing . Palo also offers a brunch for $45 per person .

Palo Steakhouse is offered on the Disney Wish and features time-honored Italian fare and modern steakhouse dining. Palo Steakhouse costs $45 per person for dinner or $70 for the wine pairing . Palo also offers a brunch for $45 per person . You can also order off of the à la carte menu which features A5 wagyu steak at an insanely low price.

Remy, the most luxurious dining experience on board the Disney Dream and Fantasy, features fine French fare. Remy costs $125 per person for dinner, $75 per person for brunch, $60 per person for the dessert experience, and $105 per person for the wine pairing experience.

Enchanté, the most luxurious experience on board the Disney Wish, features French-inspired cuisine. Enchanté costs $125 per person for brunch and dinner.

If you have a cruise that’s 3 nights or more, I always recommend that you try one of the restaurants. The food is always one step above the rotational dining options and the service is top-notch.

If you are on a 4-Night Bahama Cruise, then I recommend you opt for at least Palo on your Castaway Cay night because the Pirate Night dinner is horrendous (well at least it was on the Wish).

How much are Disney cruise port adventure excursions

Generally, the most expensive part of your Disney Cruise will be port adventures, aka excursions.

Port Adventures, also known as shore excursions, are activities and tours located at each stop during your cruise. The best part is that these tours are arranged by Disney, meaning it’s pretty stress-free and you’ll be taken care of extremely well.

Port Adventures are optional and you are in no way obligated to purchase and participate in any during your cruise.

That said, personally, I believe that Port Adventures are one of the best parts of any Disney Cruise, especially if you’re going to incredible destinations like Europe, Alaska, and even some Caribbean islands.

Each cruise will have over 200+ different excursions to choose from, catered to every single type of person and budget.

Here’s my breakdown of popular Port Adventure prices for Alaska, the Mediterranean, and the Bahamas:

( Please note that these prices are averages and can vary depending on specific port of calls. )

  • Ziplining = $229 per person
  • Salmon Bake = $114 per person
  • Best of [City] = $79 – $229 per person
  • Dog Sledding = $744 per person
  • Glacier Explorer = $260 per person
  • Glacier Point ATV = $359 per person
  • Halibut Fishing = $359 per person
  • Whale Watching = $179 to $299 per person

Alaska, I believe, is the one cruise that you absolutely must go on excursions in order to get the full Alaskan experience. I can’t stress enough how important it is to do one at every stop. This is truly a bucket list worthy cruise.

  • Atlantis Aquaventure = $239 per person
  • Baha Bay Day Pass at Baha Mar = $199 per person
  • Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day = $58 – $85 per person
  • Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure = $56 per person
  • Discover Nassau by Land and Sea = $92 per person

I very rarely do any excursions whenever we stop at Nassau, but we have done the beach day at Atlantis which was pretty fun. The stingray feeding on Castaway Cay is a must, at least once. And of course, if you are willing to splurge, renting a Cabana on Castaway Cay is a fantastic way to spend your beach day on Disney’s private island.

Mediterranean

  • Amalfi by Boat and the Splendor of Sorrento = $175 per person
  • Best of Athens = $159 per person
  • Best of Rome = $399 per person
  • Best of Santorini = $349 per person
  • Dublin City Highlights = $99 per person
  • Explore Athens on your own = $44 per person
  • Scenic Amsterdam and Van Gogh Museum = $89 per person
  • Value Package Nice and Monaco = $97 per person

I loved our Mediterranean Disney Cruise and thought the excursions were perfect. Rome, Nice, Monaco, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast were incredible day trips. The only downside is that some port of calls like Rome and Florence, were pretty far from the port so there was a lot of bus time.

These prices are just the tip of the iceberg especially since there are so many destinations and different Disney Cruises to choose from.

And as you probably can tell, Port Excursions through Disney are pretty pricey.

Personally, I tried to budget around $1,500 to $2,000 for our 7 night Mediterranean Disney Cruise especially since we knew that we wanted to do something at every port of call. The same went for Alaska, which was actually more expensive than Europe. But when it comes to the Bahamas, I budget around $0-$150 only because there isn’t much worth spending money on, at least for me.

For the most up to date pricing for Port Adventures, please visit this page .

There are a handful of things that you might find yourself spending extra money on during your cruise such as:

  • Specialty food and drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from lounges, bars, and pubs
  • Tips and Gratuities
  • Spending when on excursions or Port Adventures

Honestly, besides alcohol and shopping, you really won’t need to spend that much additional money on the ship.

By limiting some of the options, you can easily stay within your budget .

Transportation costs is by far the biggest wildcard. Depending on where you live and where you plan on embarking on your cruise, the travel costs can vary greatly.

So to make things easier, I’m only going to focus on cruises leaving out of Port Canaveral and all of the transportation costs associated with it.

Getting to Port Canaveral from the Airport (and vice versa)

Disney still offers ground transportation between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and the Disney Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal.

The cost from MCO to the Disney Cruise Terminal is $39 per guest each way or $78 roundtrip.

You can also opt for an Uber or Lyft and that’ll cost you between $67 and $91 on average each way for up to 6 people. Ridesharing is by far the cheapest way to get to Port Canaveral with the biggest downside being surge pricing.

Parking at Port Canaveral

Prices for parking at Port Canaveral for a Disney Cruise are:

  • $68 for a 3-Night Cruise
  • $85 for a 4-Night Cruise
  • $102 for a 5-Night Cruise
  • $119 for a 6-Night Cruise
  • $136 for a 7-Night Cruise

Cash is not accepted and you’ll be charged up front for the entire duration of your cruise.

Port Canaveral Bus to and from a Disney Resort

Disney also offers a bus service to and from a Disney Resort to Port Canaveral. Currently, the price from a Disney World Resort to the Disney Cruise Terminal is $39 per guest each way or $78 roundtrip.

Uber and Lyft prices for the exact route is around $70 to $105 on average each way but this depends entirely on time of day and which hotel you’re staying at.

There are actually quite a few Disney Cruise discounts that anyone can take advantage of, as well as a handful of deals reserved exclusively for select groups:

Currently, the best Disney Cruise discount for anyone is:

  • Save up to 35% on select dates from Miami, San Juan, Port Canaveral, New Orleans, San Diego, and Vancouver. For all eligible cruise dates, visit this page .

Here are some deals for specific travelers:

  • Florida Residents = 35% off select sailings (limited time only)
  • Southern California Residents = save up to 25% off on select cruises to Baja from San Diego

There is also a special offer for Disney+ Subscribers where the 3rd and 4th guest can sail for free during select cruises on the Disney Magic, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy. However, this deal is only available from January 2023 to April 2023 for stateroom categories 4A-11C. You can book this deal here .

There are also Cast Member discounts that you can access via the Hub at any time.

And if you don’t qualify for any of these discounts, you can also try one of these money-saving strategies to cut costs on your next cruise.

To stay up to date on all current Disney Cruise special offers, be sure to bookmark this page .

Here’s how much a 4-Night Disney Cruise on the Disney Wish leaving out of Port Canaveral will cost for a family of 4 that consists of 2 adults and 2 children .

I’m using August 21-25, 2023 as the example sail date.

  • Inside = $4,709
  • Oceanview = $4,932
  • Verandah = $5,188
  • Concierge = $7,923

I’m going to opt for the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah which costs $5,188 total.

  • Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure = $202

Adult-Dining

  • Palo Steakhouse Brunch = $90 ($45 per person)
  • Bingo = $40
  • Alcohol = $150 (Hyperspace Lounge can add up too)
  • Special Food and Drinks = $80
  • Shopping = $300
  • Gratuities = $232 (not required but Disney recommends $14.50 per night per guest)
  • Roundtrip Bus Service from Airport (MCO) = $312 ($78 per person)

Total = $6,594 or $1,649 per person

If you instead opted for an Inside Stateroom and decided to skip the excursions, Palo, and all the extras (bingo, alcohol, special food and drinks, and shopping), your total cost for the exact same cruise would be $5,253 .

In both scenarios, if you decided to drive and park at the terminal, your trip would be $227 less.

Yes, a Disney Cruise is worth the cost.

Here are the the starting costs for a Disney Cruise for two adults going to every major destination. These starting prices are for Inside Staterooms aboard each ship.

  • 3 Night Bahamian from Port Canaveral = $2,131
  • 4 Night Bahamian from Port Canaveral = $2,503
  • 7 Night Wester Caribbean from Port Canaveral = $3,239
  • 7 Night Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral = $3,239
  • 3 Night Bahamian from Fort Lauderdale = $1,627
  • 5 Night Western Caribbean from New Orleans = $1,697
  • 4 Night Bahamian from Fort Lauderdale = $1,763
  • 3 Night Baja from San Diego = $1,796
  • 7 Night Alaskan from Vancouver = $3,241
  • 7 Night Mediterranean from Barcelona = $5,485
  • 7 Night Mediterranean with Greek Isles from Civitavecchia (Rome) = $6,353
  • 10 Night Hawaii from Honolulu ending in Vancouver = $5,140
  • 12-Night Norwegian Fjords and Iceland from Southampton – $11,308

11 ways to save money on a Disney cruise

Summer Hull

Update : Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .

Two travel truths right now are that travel has become very expensive and air travel is more unpredictable and unpleasant than normal. Personally, I spent $700 round-trip each on domestic economy tickets to take my kid to summer camp 1,000 miles away. That's absolutely insane.

On the other end of the spectrum, another type of travel is having a different kind of moment.

This type of travel remains affordable and typically isn't as stressful as dealing with airports, delays and cancellations. In fact, I'd argue it's the most relaxing and affordable vacation available right now: a cruise ship.

Personally, I'm partial to Disney Cruise Line .

Disney Cruise Line has a reputation for being expensive and designed just for families — though neither of those things actually has to be true . While these cruises can be more expensive than some other cruise lines, if you can select a port you can drive to, you may be surprised at how affordable a Disney cruise can be when viewed as an all-in vacation price.

Here's how to save money on a Disney cruise — and find the cheaper Disney cruises that start at around $500 per person (based on double occupancy) for the entire experience.

That's less than that painful $700 flight — which, unlike a cruise, doesn't include accommodations, meals or entertainment.

Pick the dates that start at just over $1,000

Yes, Disney Cruise Line costs more than Carnival or Royal Caribbean, but throw away the notion that a Disney cruise is unattainably expensive. It simply isn't true. The peak school break weeks are expensive, but with so many three- and four-night sailings, you can choose a long weekend and avoid those pricey weeks if you want to.

As an example, two people can sail for three nights from Miami to the Bahamas on Disney Dream from Friday, Sept. 9 to Monday, Sept. 12 for just $1255.72 in a verandah cabin (not some windowless inside space).

disney cruise starting price

Good luck finding a hotel you actually want to stay at that weekend for three nights in Miami for that price — and remember this $1,256 rate is the price for the entire cruise experience, not just the room.

You don't have to sail from Florida ports during hurricane season to find that $1,000-ish price point. You can sail for roughly the same price from Galveston, Texas to Mexico on Disney Magic in January 2023 on a four-night cruise to Mexico for just $1,441 for two people in a balcony cabin.

Adding two kids to that same Galveston itinerary to make a trip for four people would raise the price to $2,324.

Or, sail from San Diego to Mexico starting at $1,086 in an inside cabin or $1,278 for a verandah room.

disney cruise starting price

Think about it. That $2,324 rate from Galveston for four people works out to $145 per person, per day — which isn't bad compared to what other trips cost these days.

For those same travel dates of Jan. 27-31, 2023, it would cost a family of four $1,444 for four nonstop Basic Economy flights on United from Houston to Cancun. Four nights of lodging at the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva resort in Cancun (which includes meals, entertainment and a kids club, like the sailing does) come to $3,392 for those four nights.

For the flights and hotel stay, that's just over double the cost of the Disney Cruise for the same number of days visiting roughly the same destination.

Let Disney choose your cabin

A good way to save money on a Disney cruise is to let the cruise line choose your cabin in exchange for a discounted fare. These are called guaranteed rates. You pick the room type (inside, verandah, etc.) but Disney gets to be the one that selects exactly which room within that category you get.

disney cruise starting price

These fares come with additional restrictions around payments and changes, but you can save up to 35% off the going rates. I've had great success with these discounted fares in the past. As long as you aren't too picky about where your room is on the ship, this strategy can be a tremendous way to save on your Disney cruise.

Book via a travel agent that gives you onboard credit

You can log onto the Disney Cruise Line website and book the cruise yourself, but you may not want to when you know a travel agent can do the work for you — and give you some credit back in the process.

The amount varies, but I've gotten up to $750 as a statement credit when I booked a pricier Disney cruise at the concierge level . On the more affordable cruises and cabins, expect the credit to be more in the $75-$200 range.

disney cruise starting price

While the amount will vary, you can often get somewhere between 5-10% of the price of your cruise back in the form of a gift card or shipboard spending credit through a travel agent or even via Costco Travel .

If you aren't sure where to start, you can get offers from agents who want to book your cruise — sometimes with extra perks and credits — via Cruise Compete .

Pay with discounted Disney gift cards

At wholesale clubs, such as Sam's Club and Costco, you can reliably purchase Disney gift cards at a discount . Sometimes, these discounts get even bigger around sales such as Black Friday. But on an ongoing basis, you can usually get a $500 Disney gift card for about $485.

That's not a huge discount, but if you paid for your $3,000 Disney cruise with those cards, it would save you $90.

If you have a Target credit card, you can also save 5% on Disney gift cards at Target. On that same $3,000 Disney Cruise, that's $150 saved by going that route.

Remember that you can often earn bonus points with certain credit cards when shopping for Disney gift cards depending on where you purchase them. Office supply stores, grocery stores and even wholesale clubs can be good bonus categories for different rewards credit cards, allowing you to earn 3, 4 or 5 points per dollar on your card while you buy your gift cards.

Use your credit card points

Not all credit card points can easily translate to a "free" Disney cruise, but some can.

The easiest way to do this is to pay some — or all — of the cruise with a credit card that lets you use your points at a fixed value to erase a travel charge. This way, you could book with a travel agent to get that onboard credit and then use your points to wipe out your deposit or final payment.

For example, if you put the charge on your Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card , you could use the miles at 1 cent each in value to wipe out the cost. The first example given, on the three-night cruise from Miami to the Bahamas for $1,255 ,would take about 125,500 Venture miles to fully erase the cash cost.

With those two welcome bonuses currently each at 75,000 bonus miles after $4,000 in spending in the first three months from account opening, that's not an unrealistic goal.

Earn 75,000 bonus miles worth $750 in travel with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card after $4,000 in spending in three months from account opening.

Upgrade at the port for less

This tip isn't exactly about saving money overall, but it is a way to get a better room for less than the original list price.

If the cruise isn't sold out, you can go to a special desk at the port before you board and ask about any space-available discounted upgrades. At Port Canaveral, where all the Disney check-in desks are on the left side of the terminal building, the upgrade desk is the rightmost desk.

disney cruise starting price

The cost to upgrade will be related to the room type you've booked and the one you'd like to upgrade to. The supervisor will use a pre-printed chart to find that cost differential. It will cost less than if you had booked a better room initially, sometimes by about half, though that number varies.

On our Disney Dream cruise this spring, I was able to upgrade to a larger and more deluxe cabin for $34. Total. Get to the terminal as soon as you can if you are hoping for a suite or concierge upgrade because those are very limited and go quickly.

While I haven't done it, I've also heard that even cheaper prices become available on board once the ship sets sail, though I haven't tried that myself.

Save 10% by putting a deposit for your next cruise down while you're on board

The easiest way to save 10% on a Disney cruise doesn't work for your first cruise, but can work for all subsequent ones.

When you are on a Disney Cruise Line ship, you can put a $250 placeholder deposit down on a future Disney cruise to be used within two years. This can be done in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app while on board.

You don't have to pick which cruise you want to do at that moment, but by putting that $250 in a placeholder you can not only apply that $250 when you ultimately pick your next Disney cruise but also save 10% off the rate valid on most dates and room types in the process.

disney cruise starting price

That one step can save you hundreds of dollars on your vacation. Worst case scenario, that $250 is refunded to you if you don't book another cruise in the next two years. That happened to us during the pandemic, and the money came back automatically and without a problem once the 24 months were up.

BYOB and skip the extras

If you are looking to trim costs on your Disney cruise, bring things from home that you would otherwise likely purchase.

For example, you can bring up to six cans of beer or two bottles of wine per person aged 21 and up. Instead of paying cruise prices for those beverages, you can bring what you want from home at regular land-based prices, up to those maximum limits.

You can also bring one case of unopened water bottles on board. These come in handy for shore excursions or when you need to hydrate by the pool. (Better yet, pack a refillable water bottle.)

Since a Disney Cruise already includes meals, room service, snacks, soft-serve ice cream, fountain drinks and plenty of entertainment, you don't need to spend anything additional on board if you don't want to. This is especially true on a new-to-you ship and on those shorter three- and four-night cruises where there is more than enough to do and explore already.

Just carry on a few beverages and skip all the extras.

disney cruise starting price

If your sailing goes to Disney Cruise Line's private island, Castaway Cay , beach chairs, umbrellas, the ocean waterslide and lunch on the island are also included at no extra charge.

disney cruise starting price

Seek out spa discounts

If you're focused on saving money, you'll want to skip the spa entirely on your cruise. But if nothing says vacation like a massage, you can find a discount on onboard spa services on a Disney cruise.

I've received a port day discount that was about 20% off because most people book their treatments on sea days, and the spa is less busy when the ship is docked. The Disney Visa also advertises a 20% discount on select massages or facials on port days on an ongoing basis.

I've also received $50 off a second service while checking out for my first. It's fairly common for cruise ship spas to offer discounts when you book multiple treatments.

disney cruise starting price

If you don't see a discount advertised, just ask at the spa desk. That's how I got hooked up with spa deals on previous Disney cruises.

Use Disney Visa onboard cruise discounts

In addition to the 20% off select spa treatments, Disney Visa cardholders also get 10% off a Castaway Cay package that includes snorkel gear, a bike rental and an inner tube. Additional discounts include 10% off onboard merchandise purchases of $50 or more and onboard photos.

disney cruise starting price

If you need time to spread out payments, those with a Disney Visa can also get a 0% annual percentage rate on their Disney vacation for six months. Right now, the card also has a welcome bonus of up to $300 toward a Disney vacation.

Book early and go off-peak

This is a no-brainer tip to avid cruisers, but if you are newer to cruising, know that booking early and sailing off-peak are great ways to save money on a Disney cruise.

I booked our Alaska cruise for the summer of 2023 the day the calendar opened this year because the price typically increases as the sailing date nears. You can sometimes find last-minute specials, but most of the time, cruise prices only go one direction — up.

You'll put 20% down when you first book and then have until much closer to sailing to pay off the remaining 80%.

disney cruise starting price

Date flexibility will also help you save money on a Disney cruise. The same itinerary that costs $2,000 in September will be up to three times more expensive if you want to sail over winter break.

If you can't find any affordable prices, I recommend scrolling the cruise list by price instead of starting with the perfect date or itinerary. A sailing you may not have initially considered may turn out to be the perfect vacation option.

Bottom line

Believe it or not, a Disney cruise can be much cheaper than a trip to the Disney theme parks. ( A cruise is often much less stressful, too .)

Remember that $2,324 four-night sailing from Galveston to Mexico for a family of four? At $145 per person, per night, it's absolutely less than a trip to Disney World. Park tickets alone these days can be close to $145 per person and Disney resort rooms are $200-$700 or more per night, depending on your resort choice.

Add food costs on top of that, and you're almost certainly well above the price of a Disney cruise.

If you stack on some of these tips to save money on your Disney cruise, you could knock anywhere from 10-25% off the list price, depending on how many of the tips you are able to use.

As for me, I'm seriously contemplating that January getaway from Texas that will take us to Mexico and provide for all our lodging, meal and entertainment needs in the process.

Now I just need to figure out how much in additional savings I can stack onto the already pretty fair rate.

However, if you dream of being part of the inaugural voyage from December 21st to 28th, 2024, be prepared to spend a significant amount. For two adults, prices for an inside room begin at $9,123, while an oceanview room starts at $9,963. If you desire a verandah room, prices begin at $11,279, and the concierge rooms, including the extraordinarily luxurious suites, start at $24,957.

Alternatively, if you are willing to wait a few extra months until May 2025 for your Disney Treasure cruise, you can enjoy the experience for less than half the price. Prices for two adults start at $3,944.

Disney Cruise Cost Itineraries

Alaska cruise 7 nights from vancouver.

If you’re considering a trip to Alaska on a cruise, keep in mind that the prices can vary greatly depending on the type of room you choose. Verandah cabins tend to be in higher demand and therefore more expensive, with prices ranging from $6,500 to $17,000 for a 7-night cruise. This breaks down to about $232 to $602 per person. On the other hand, inside cabins are much more affordable, typically priced between $6,500 and $8,000. If you’re looking for luxury, be prepared to pay a premium for a Verandah cabin, which can cost anywhere from $8,900 to $17,000.7 per person per day

7 Night Caribean Disney Cruise

For a family of four, a 7-night Caribbean cruise could cost anywhere between $5,300 to $10,000. You have the option to choose between Magic, Fantasy & Wonder ships. In my personal opinion, Magic or Fantasy would be the ideal choice when cruising with Disney in the Caribbean. Additionally, Disney also offers cruises in Europe.

Disney Europe Disney

The only cruise ship available in Europe is the Disney Magic, which happens to be one of my favorites and the first ship we ever sailed on. For a 7-night trip, the cost per person per day falls between $189 and $397 on average.

3-Night Caribean

for a 3-night Disney Cruise to the Caribbean can vary greatly, ranging from $2,600 to $6,300. This means you can expect to pay between $216 and $525 per person per day.

4 Nihgt Caribean Disney Cruise

A 4-night Caribbean Cruise can cost anywhere from $3,400 to $6,700. Choosing a 4-night cruise can be more cost-effective since it typically sails on weekdays. If you can take some time off during weekdays, consider a 4-night cruise that would average $212-$418 per person per day.

Factors Why Disney Cruise Will Cost But Worth Each Peny

“How much should I save to cover the costs of a Disney cruise?” This is a common question, but unfortunately, the answer is not straightforward. The price of a Disney cruise varies depending on several factors, such as itinerary, cabin type, and time of year.

  • Where you’re going, the length of your trip, and the time of year will all impact the cost, with shorter cruises typically starting at around $1,000 per person and longer trips to multiple ports potentially reaching above $6,500 per person.
  • The trip’s duration and port of call will also affect the total cost. Shorter trips, such as a three-night cruise to Nassau or Castaway Cay, tend to be more affordable than longer journeys with several destinations.
  • Which Disney ship you’re on will also affect the price. The newer, more luxurious ships have a higher price tag than the older vessels in Disney’s fleet.
  • How many people you’re traveling with can also influence the overall cost. Some cruise discounts may be available for large groups, such as military personnel or families traveling together. Additionally, excursions, meals, drinks, and luxury staterooms all add up to your final price tag. It’s important to research all of the available options and find the best deal before booking your Disney Cruise.
  • The type of stateroom you book is also a factor that can affect the total cost of your trip. Luxury staterooms such as suites and concierge rooms offer more amenities for an additional fee. Booking in advance can often save money on a Disney Cruise vacation, so it’s worth planning to get the best deal possible. Your cruise package may include certain perks depending on the type and duration of your trip.
  • Any add-ons or specialty bookings you choose can also add to the cost. Such options may include activities such as a spa treatment, special excursions, and a character meet-and-greet. Lastly, don’t forget about taxes and fees for your cruise package, along with tips for the crew onboard. By taking all of these factors into consideration, you can get the most out of your Disney cruise prices.

Tips for Finding the Best Deal on a Disney Cruise Vacation

Booking in Advance, Researching All Available Options, Comparing Prices Across Destinations, Taking Advantage of Group Discounts and Special Offers, Booking a Standard Stateroom, Planning Ahead for Add-Ons or Specialty Bookings, and Keeping an Eye Out for Taxes and fees.

When you have taken all of these factors into consideration, you can find the best deal possible on your Disney cruise vacation!

Disney Cruise Cost Pricing Explained

Let's start by covering the details of how Disney Cruise costs are calculated between room pricing and cost per person.

Disney Cruise Room Pricing

All Disney Cruise costs are priced based on two adults in the stateroom (room on the ship). This means that one adult traveling with a child (ages 3-12) is the same price as two adults (13 and up) in the room. Children ages 0-2 pay 50% of the child rate.

After the two adult prices, the third and fourth passengers in the stateroom are charged a lower rate. If you are traveling alone, Disney Cruise Line will charge you 100% of the second adult’s cruise fare (not including port fees and taxes) in addition to the full fare for the first adult.

Pricing Per Adult

It is simply impossible to determine exactly how much a person will pay without looking at several different factors. We are going to break these factors on Disney Cruise cost down for you.

Then, we will help you gauge pricing on a budget to pricing with no limits, and everything in between, so that you have an accurate idea of what you can expect to pay for your Disney Cruise itself. We will also show you a full Disney Cruise Scenario with estimates on what you may need to include for a Disney Cruise. Finally, we detail some ways to save money if you are interested in sailing on a Disney Cruise.

Which Disney Cruise Should I Do?

The first couple of factors to consider when deciding to book a Disney Cruise and cost are where you want to go and what ship you want to sail on.

Disney Cruise Ships

Disney currently has 6 signature cruise ships with more on the way.

The newest cruise ship available right now is the Disney Wish, but the Disney Treasure begins sailing in December of 2024, and it is almost time to start booking!

Each Disney ship is decked out from bow to stern in immersive Disney experiences. The experiences are going to differ depending on the ship, where it is sailing to, and if it is a themed expedition or not.

Ships Sailings

  • Disney Magic : Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Panama Canal
  • Disney Wonder : Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean, South Pacific, New Zealand & Australia
  • Disney Dream : Caribbean, Bahamas, Europe, Bermuda, Transatlantic Cruises
  • Disney Fantasy : Caribbean and Bahamas
  • Disney Wish : Bahamas
  • Disney Treasure : Caribbean

Disney Cruise Cost Factors

There are a few factors that will impact the cost of a Disney Cruise like time of year, location of the cruise, plus the Disney Cruise ship chosen.

Time of the year

Disney prices their cruises based on peak seasons. The more in-demand the cruise sailings are, the higher the pricing.

The first peak season is the most expensive. Think about when children are out of school, June – August. There is an increase in demand for ships and sailings, so the pricing also goes up. Alaska, and the Caribbean, are usually priced high during this time. Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered during these peak seasons.

Holidays are another popular peak season. The Bahamas and the Caribbean are going to be more expensive during these times because families will want shorter cruises, which are offered to these two locations.

Off-season bookings will be cheaper, but keep in mind, that the weather may not be as cooperative depending upon the location you are sailing to.

When choosing locations for your cruise, a cruise to the more remote destination Alaska is going to cost more than sailing to the Bahamas from Florida.

Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered in the summer, which can drive up the price of the cruise.

When deciding on what you want out of your cruise, guests can choose from different night lengths.

Disney currently offers cruises in 1-3, 4, 5-6, 7 8-13, or 14+ lengths. The longer you cruise, the more expensive the cruise is going to be because more amenities are included and paid for in the cruise cost.

Specialty Cruises

Disney offers specialty cruises throughout the year. Each of these specialty cruises is going to include extra events, entertainment, dining specialties, and more that are factored into the higher costs.

Guests can book a Pixar Day at Sea, Marvel Day at Sea, Halloween High Seas, and Holiday-themed cruises.

Stateroom type

There are four different types of staterooms guests can book on the cruise ships. A stateroom is the cruise equivalent of your hotel room.

The most luxurious accommodations on the cruise and the most expensive. Each room has a large private verandah (balcony) and premium amenities and services included. Prices for this type of hotel room will be the most expensive out of all rooms on the ship costing upwards of $6,000 for a trip.

The most spacious non-concierge staterooms are in the Verandah category. Each room comes equipped with a private verandah (balcony), some with partial views of the ship and ocean. The space and balcony are worth the price increase if you are sailing on a longer cruise. This category is the second most expensive type of room to choose from and also tends to sell out the quickest. Pricing tends to start around the $3500 total mark for most cruise lengths and destinations.

The oceanview room has more space than an inside room and also includes a porthole or two to be able to see the ocean. This is a great middle price on the cruise where you can still see the ocean passing by, but you don’t have the balcony to walk out on. This type of room falls in the middle pricing category. The cheapest cruises will come in around $2800 total but can go much higher depending on the length and destination.

The base accommodations feature no outside viewing as the rooms are on the inside of the ship. However, Disney provides a scenic porthole display of different images to make it not feel as claustrophobic. These will be the absolute cheapest rooms due to not having an actual window or balcony. If you want to go on a Disney cruise, but your family is on a strict budget, these rooms will be the cheapest, averaging around the $2,000 – $4,000 range.

Transportation To Port

By far the biggest factor that will vary for each family going on a Disney cruise is the transportation to the Departing Port.

You will need to provide your own flight, take a train, or drive to the port that you are leaving from. This cost is going to vary widely depending on where you live versus where you need to leave from.

We also recommend arriving the day before the cruise is set to depart so there are no delays in boarding the ship at your arrival time. This is going to cost a night at a nearby hotel, which adds to the overall budget for your cruise.

Disney has ports in the following locations:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  • Port Canaveral, Florida
  • Vancouver, Canada
  • Auckland, New Zealand
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Honolulu, Hawai’i
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Melbourne Australia
  • Southampton, England
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Sydney, Australia
  • Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
  • New York, New York
  • San Diego, California
  • Galveston, Texas

Certain cruises only depart from specific locations. You can filter this when you are searching to book your cruise.

When planning your destinations for your cruise, it is helpful to know where you are going to sail from. The majority of the Bahamas and Caribbean cruises are going to leave from the two ports in Florida, but they also depart from Texas. The Alaskan cruises sail from Vancouver, Canada.

The cheapest way to book transportation is to filter the cruises by which port is closest to you and see which destinations are available. Or, you can filter by destination and then see which ports are the closest to you to help keep costs down.

Keep in mind that if you drive to the port, this will be an additional cost to park your car at the port as well. The fee will be nightly similar to an airport.

What is Included in the Disney Cruise Cost Base Price?

A big question is what do I get for the price tag I see on the Disney Cruise Line website?

When booking your Disney Cruise, you are not just paying for a hotel room like many other vacations. You are paying for an all-inclusive Disney Experience . For every Disney Cruise booked, you can expect the following accommodations, activities, and amenities.

Room type chosen

Guests can choose from 4 different stateroom types:

  • Concierge – Most expensive and most luxurious
  • Verandah – Popular and mid-level pricing
  • Ocean View – Mid-level pricing
  • Inside – Cheapest book and smallest rooms

Three rotational table-service dining restaurants Buffet (for breakfast and lunch) Quick service bites

24-hour room service Unlimited soft serve ice cream Unlimited coffee, tea, and soda available on deck and at table service restaurants

On Ship Activities

Broadway-quality shows (original Disney products or live acts) Fireworks at Sea (available on most itineraries) Character meet and greets Movie screenings (first-run and popular Disney movies) Pools, waterslides, splash zones, and wading pools Gym and fitness center

Kids’ clubs

Disney’s Oceaneer Club (3 to 12 years old) Disneys’ Oceaneer Lab (2 to 12 years old) Edge (11 to 14 years old) Vibe (14 to 17 years old)

What is Not Included in a Disney Cruise?

While Disney Cruises is great at including a lot of amenities in the total trip cost, there are a few extras that you may want while sailing on your ship.

  • Port Excursions
  • Premium desserts
  • Premium coffee (at the Cove cafe)
  • Meals at the adult-only Palo and Remy
  • Gratuities – can be prepaid
  • Wireless Internet Access
  • Baby Nursery (6 months -3 years)

All of these items should be considered when pricing out your Disney Cruise so that you do not have any unexpected costs.

Menus for restaurants are available on the Disney Cruise Line Website, so you can see if you want to eat somewhere not included in the base price.

Port Excursions are also booked ahead of time, so you can prepay these items and include them in the final cost of your cruise.

Gratuities Explained

On a cruise ship, it is customary to give gratuities in recognition of exceptional service. Disney recommends a gratuity amount of $14.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest, including infants and children or $15.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest for concierge and suites.

Pre-Paid Gratuities are distributed to the Crew Members who take care of you in the following roles:

  • Dining room server
  • Dining room assistant server
  • Dining room head server
  • Stateroom host

Easily pre-pay gratuities online to create a carefree, all-inclusive experience by visiting My Reservations in your Disney account and following the prompts for Pre-Paid Gratuities. If you do not pre-pay before boarding the ship, Disney automatically charges your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount. Once on the ship, you can adjust the amount of your Pre-Paid Gratuities by visiting Guest Services prior to the end of your cruise.

Pre-Paid Gratuities do not include the following gratuities, which are either included in the charge or based on your discretion:

  • Extras added to rotational dining meals such as alcoholic beverages
  • Adult dining locations such as Remy, Palo, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, which are not part of rotational dining
  • Food or drink in shops and outdoor or poolside eateries
  • Room service
  • Port Adventures
  • Senses Spa & Salon
  • Concierge Lounge Team—Guests staying in Concierge accommodations are recommended a gratuity amount of $8.00 per night, per stateroom Guest
  • Any other additional services
  • An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs and spa services. All gratuities can be charged to your onboard account.

Disney’s Private Islands

When sailing on a Disney Cruise, one of the locations you will visit on your travels during a Bahamian cruise is one of Disney’s Private Island’s Castaway Cay and coming soon Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Castaway Cay is the perfect beach getaway. Amenities on the island include

  • A family beach
  • Serenity Bay (18+ beach)
  • Teen Hideout
  • Game Pavilion
  • Sports Beach
  • Snorkeling Lagoons teeming with sea life
  • Water play areas
  • Walking trails
  • Open-air BBQ dining locations serving complimentary meals
  • Free transportation around the island
  • Character appearances
  • Boat rentals

Disney’s new island, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will have similar amenities to Castaway Cay! We can’t wait to see what the island holds.

Breakdown of Pricing

This section of our article is going to take a look at the specific pricing of specific cruises to help estimate Disney Cruise cost. The three most popular Disney Destinations are the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Alaska, so that is what pricing we are going to focus on.

Disney Cruise On a Budget

If you really want to go on a Disney Cruise and stick to a budget, the 3-night and 4-night cruises are going to be the best option. Depending on how far from your destination you are traveling, the amount of time on the ship versus in a port will vary. The Bahamas destinations are going to offer more time in ports where Caribbean cruises will be more time on the boat.

The cheapest room option on a cruise is always the interior room. However, these rooms don’t have actual windows and can make a very tight space for a family of four, which we are basing all of our pricing on. If possible, spring for at least an Oceanview room where you are guaranteed at least one actual window.

Another way to stay on budget is to adjust the dates. In the tables below, you will see different dates and different ships will provide cheaper options. Cruises during February, August, and September tend to be cheaper, similarly to a Walt Disney World Vacation, whereas cruises during holiday seasons (Spring Break, Christmas, New Years, Halloween, etc.) are going to be more expensive.

3- Night Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

  • 4 Guests – 2 adults, 2 children
  • Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point & Nassau, Bahamas

4 – Night Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

  • Disney Castaway Cay & Nassau, Bahamas

4-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Galveston

  • Sailing to Progreso, Mexico

4- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

  • Sailing to Cozumel, Mexico

5- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

  • Sailing to Cozumel, Mexico & Progreso, Mexico

The cheapest Alaskan cruise is about the price of the Concierge Level for other Disney Cruises.

7 – Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver

  • Sailing to Glacier Viewing (Stikine Icecap), Alaska; Skagway, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Ketchikan, Alaska

Mid-Range Disney Cruise Pricing

A 5 – 6 day cruise is a great mid-price range budget. Typically with these cruises you will have enough time to explore the ship while also getting at least two, if not three days in a port of call to explore your destination.

For the longer 5-6 day cruises, we recommend the oceanview or verandah rooms. To keep the budget down and get to experience more for your money, avoid booking the concierge rooms at these middle price points.

Another great way to spend your money is to book one of the themed cruises. Guests can book the Marvel Day at Sea, a Halloween Cruise, or a Merry Christmas Cruise. The prices are going to be higher for these themed cruises even if they are only 5-6 days long, but you get a lot more special activities.

5-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Galveston

5- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

  • 4 guests – 2 adults, 2 children
  • Sails to George Town, Grand Cayman & Disney Castaway Cay

No Restrictive Budget Pricing

The longer cruise you book, the more ports you can stop at and the greater chance you have to stretch your days at sea to fully explore all that the ship has to offer.

The longer the cruise, guests can also experience more themed Disney nights and formal nights as well. This can make the cruise an extra special vacation due to all of the extra magic you are receiving.

Our recommendation for rooms on a cruise any longer than 5 days is to book at least a verandah room if not the concierge rooms. This is going to provide the most space for the times when you need to escape from the hustle and bustle of the ship.

In addition to the longer cruise, specialty cruises can also be booked during peak times if you don’t have an incredibly restrictive budget.

7 Night Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point Inaugural Cruise from Port Canaveral

  • 4 Guests, 2 adults, 2 children
  • Sailing to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point; Nassau, Bahamas; Disney Castaway Cay; Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, 2 Days at Sea

  • Sails to Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman & Falmouth, Jamaica

7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral (Pixar Day at Sea)

  • Sailing to Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Falmouth, Jamaica; & Disney Castaway Cay

7 Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral

  • Sailing to Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; & Disney Castaway Cay

10 Night Southern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral

  • 4 Guests, 2 adults & 2 Children
  • Sailing to St. John's, Antigua; Castries, St. Lucia; Roseau, Dominica; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point; & Disney Castaway Cay

  • Sailing to Ketchikan, Alaska; Glacier Viewing (Stikine Icecap), Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Icy Strait Point, Alaska; Sitka, Alaska; Victoria (British Columbia), Canada

Disney Cruise Line Discounts

Disney cruises can be expensive, but there are ways to save money.

The best way to save money is to book as soon as you know when you want to sail.

Cruises price rooms by tiers – the earlier you book, the lower the cost.

Special Pricing

Sometimes Disney will offer special pricing for Florida residents, military personnel, travel agents, and cast members.

They may also offer Kids Sail Free to families with children.

Travel Agencies can also offer promotions if you book through them in the form of Shipboard Credit. While on the ship, you can use this credit for spa treatments, merchandise, photos, and more. Be aware these credits expire at the end of your cruise.

Final Thoughts

A Disney Cruise is an exceptionally personal vacation that allows your family to customize the trip that fits what you want and need. With each ship featuring new shows, themed restaurants, amazing kid areas, and specialty adult-only sections, there is a multitude of opportunities that a Disney Cruise ship offers for a vacation – not to mention the amazing destinations.

Unfortunately, because Disney provides so many different ships and opportunities, it is difficult to narrow down the exact price that a cruise will cost your family. One thing for sure is that you can't put a price on the magical memories that will be made on your Disney Cruise vacation.

Disney Cruise Line offers a fantastic experience for families and couples alike, bringing them to exciting destinations around the world with Disney magic at every turn. While cruises are a great way to escape everyday life, it’s important to prepare your wallet for the expense of this kind of trip.

Knowing the full range of costs associated with a Disney cruise vacation is essential to spending wisely while still getting the most out of your vacation. Find out the different factors that contribute to Disney cruise prices and other considerations for your cruise vacation.

Key takeaways

How much does a disney cruise cost, factors affecting disney cruise prices, disney cruise price breakdown, tips for saving on disney cruise costs, bottom line.

  • The average Disney cruise price starts around $800 to $1,600 per person for a 1- to 3-night Disney cruise in an inside room.
  • Length of trip, ports of departure and arrival, and travel dates all affect pricing.
  • While a Disney cruise may be more expensive than other cruise options, it offers unique onboard experiences.
  • Disney cruises are an ideal option for families, couples, and solo travelers looking for a magical and family-friendly travel experience.

Disney Cruise Line’s fleet includes the following five luxury ships:

The above price ranges put the average cost for a 1- to 3-night Disney cruise in an inside cabin between $800 and $1,600 per person. If time on the ocean is important to you, Disney Fantasy cruise costs start at $1,500 to $2,400 per person for a 5- to 6-night cruise.

However, your final Disney cruise price will vary depending on the cruise ship, length of cruise, port, destination, and time of year. Opting for a more expensive room, such as Oceanview, Verandah, or Concierge, will cost you extra money, ranging from a few hundred dollars to more than twice the price.

Additionally, the longer you cruise for, the lower your price per person, per night will be. However, your overall price may be much higher, as is the case for a 14-night Panama Canal cruise that costs over $17,000 for two guests.

Itinerary and destination

Cruise length and the destination impact price in a big way. For instance, long voyages to exotic locations cost more than short trips to nearby ports. Prices are also affected by specific port cities.

Time of year

If you want to save money on your cruise , consider traveling on Disney cruise ships during off-peak times. During peak seasons, such as summer months and holidays, prices tend to be higher compared to off-peak times. Themed and holiday cruises may also cost more than standard cruises.

Some locations have their own peak vacation season, depending on the weather in the region. It is a good idea to research prices for various times of the year to see how the dates you’re cruising will impact the price.

Room and amenities

The location and size of your room is a significant factor that affects the overall pricing of your cruise. For Disney cruises, Concierge (suite) staterooms are the most expensive options, as they come with a private veranda. Basic Inside staterooms with no sea view and just a porthole mirror are the cheapest options.

Disney cruises typically include onboard experiences, such as live shows and character meet-and-greets, and access to amenities like pools. However, some activities, like excursions, may be charged separately.

The following are included in the price of your Disney cruise trip:

  • Stateroom fee
  • All applicable taxes and port fees
  • Three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner + soft drinks for each meal
  • Snacks and ice cream
  • Access to entertainment: Disney character meet-and-greets, live shows, Disney film showings, etc.

The vacation fare excludes shore excursions (called Port Adventures), gratuities, airfare, personal expenses ashore in the ports of call, ground and baggage transfers, and other items not specified in your itinerary.

Some onboard activities require additional charges, such as spa and salon services, excursions, babysitting services, onboard photography, and alcoholic beverages. There may also be extra baggage fees, since Disney ships allow only up to two bags per person.

Sample Cruise Pricing

Let’s say you want to plan a Disney cruise for two adults from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the Bahamas. A 3-night cruise will cost you from $1,600 to $5,600. Opting for a cruise during peak season in June will cost the most, as will purchasing a Concierge suite room.

The cheapest option is to sail in September (which is during hurricane season and, therefore, off-peak for the Caribbean islands) in an Inside room. However, it costs only about $100 more to upgrade to an Oceanview room.

Disney cruise screenshot

There are several ways you can save on costs for your Disney cruise trip. Some tips include:

  • Book during the off-season: Research the peak and off-season of your chosen destination. For Bahamas and Caribbean cruises, you may want to reconsider sail dates during the summer months when these locations are more expensive and crowded.
  • Monitor prices: Disney cruise prices can fluctuate depending on demand. It pays to be patient and to monitor prices regularly until you get the best deal. More affordable tickets may sell out quickly, especially if you book last minute or during peak seasons.
  • Use a travel agent: A travel agent can help you find great deals on Disney cruises. They may be able to provide insider information and tips, as well as access to tickets at discounted prices. They could also help you plan a more comprehensive Disney vacation with time at Disney World as well as a cruise. Disney Cruise Line has a network of travel agents to help you plan your trip.
  • Skip specialty dining : Palo (on all Disney ships) offers adults-only dining, but it also costs $45 per guest, not including gratuities. Remy is an adults-only restaurant on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, and dinner is $125 per person. Brunch is $75, and a dessert experience is $60 per person.
  • Look for promotions and deals: Disney Cruise Line has special offers for pre- and post-cruise hotel accommodations, air travel, packages for weddings and honeymoons, Florida residents, and more. Other travel websites, like Expedia, have Disney cruise packages that include hotel accommodations and airfare.
  • Leverage your travel credit card: You could also save money on travel by using credit card points and miles. Check out the best travel credit cards to reduce the price of getting to and from your cruise port.

How much does a Disney cruise cost for a family of 4?

A family of four could spend approximately $3,200 to $6,400 for a 3-night Disney cruise in an inside room. This is based on a daily average cost of $800 and $1,600 per person for short Disney cruises. The cost of a cruise per person can vary significantly and is dependent on the travel dates, ports of departure and arrival, and room type.

How many days does a Disney cruise last?

The lengths of Disney cruises range from 1 to 14 or more days.

Is it cheaper to go on a Disney cruise than other cruise lines?

Disney Cruise Line is more expensive than competitor cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line. However, Disney offers unique family-friendly amenities, activities, entertainment, and experiences that you won’t be able to find on other cruises, especially when you’re traveling with children.

Disney Cruise Line is among the most popular cruise lines, but it’s not exactly the cheapest. However, if you’re looking for a unique vacation experience with your family, a Disney cruise may be worth the added expense.

There are several ways you can save on your Disney cruise, such as comparing rates for different times of year and destinations. Be sure to compare credit cards and cruise packages to ensure you get the best deal before booking your Disney Cruise vacation.

Understanding the Cost of a Disney Cruise for a Family of Four

A Disney Cruise is a fantastic way to enjoy adventure, culture, family bonding, and Disney entertainment. However, it can be expensive. You should consider the estimated cost of your voyage before you commit to see if it fits within your family’s budget.

The total cost of a Disney cruise for a family of four varies substantially based on the length of the trip, cabin category, destinations, travel dates, and extras purchased. A shorter 3-4 night Caribbean cruise can start around $2,800. The most popular 5-night Caribbean option typically averages $7,760 for a family of four or $1,940 per person, including taxes and add-on expenses. High-end cruises spanning 7-14 nights in luxury suites and exotic ports sometimes top $20,000.

This guide breaks down the key factors impacting the total price of a Disney cruise for a party of four. We’ll analyze costs category by category, provide insider savings tips, and showcase real-world pricing examples to demonstrate how cabin choice, destinations, travel times, and add-ons influence total expenditure. With this knowledge, you can determine if a Disney cruise aligns with your family’s budget.

What Impacts the Cost of a Disney Cruise for a Family of 4?

Disney Cruise Line offers many cruise options ranging from quick weekend escapes to long global trips that appeal to different budgets and interests. This way, there is a Disney voyage suitable for every family.

When estimating costs for a family of four, there are four key factors that impact the total price of your Disney Cruise:

1. Cruise Duration

DCL Castaway Cay

A short Bahamas cruise will be cheaper than a week-long Caribbean cruise

Disney Cruise options range from 2 nights up to 2 full weeks at sea. However, the 3-7 night voyage range appeals most to families, especially classic Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries.

The duration of your chosen cruise plays a significant role in determining the overall cost . Brief 3-4 night sailings allow for fast, affordable escapes with base prices starting around $2,800 for a family of four. Extended 5-night or longer cruises provide a more comprehensive Disney experience but at a proportionally higher total cost.

2. Stateroom Category

A Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with a Verandah onboard the Disney Wish

Verandah Staterooms are costlier than Inside Staterooms

Disney Cruise Line has four main cabin types based on price, size, and amenities: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. The stateroom category you choose will have a major influence on the overall price.

For example, Inside staterooms are the most economical, but the price difference between Inside, Oceanview, and even Verandah staterooms is relatively minimal.

Here are some estimated average cost scenarios for a family of four based on different room categories

Deluxe Inside Staterooms:

  • 3-Night Bahamas Cruise: Approximately $3,200 – $4,000
  • 5-Night Caribbean Cruise: Approximately $5,500 – $7,000
  • 7-Night European Cruise: Approximately $8,000 – $10,000

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms:

  • 3-Night Bahamas Cruise: Approximately $3,500 – $4,500
  • 5-Night Caribbean Cruise: Approximately $6,000 – $7,500
  • 7-Night European Cruise: Approximately $9,000 – $11,500

Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah:

  • 3-Night Bahamas Cruise: Approximately $4,000 – $5,000
  • 5-Night Caribbean Cruise: Approximately $7,000 – $8,500
  • 7-Night European Cruise: Approximately $10,000 – $13,000

Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah:

  • 3-Night Bahamas Cruise: Approximately $5,000 – $6,500+
  • 5-Night Caribbean Cruise: Approximately $9,000 – $11,000+
  • 7-Night European Cruise: Approximately $13,000 – $16,000+

The prices for Disney’s Concierge staterooms are notably higher due to the additional luxury and amenities they offer. Please note that these are approximate figures, and actual prices can vary based on specific cruise dates, promotions, and availability.

3. Choosing Your Ideal Disney Cruise Destination

A Disney Cruise Ship docked in Alaska, with large snow-capped mountains in the background

Alaska is a popular but pricey destination for Disney Cruises

When selecting a destination for your family’s Disney Cruise, carefully weigh the unique experiences and pricing offered at each locale:

  • Caribbean Cruises : A forever favorite thanks to the tropical allure, many family-friendly activities, and beaches. A standard 5-night Disney Caribbean cruise for a family of four starts around $5,500. It often includes a stop at Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island paradise.
  • Alaskan Cruises : Offer majestic glacier scenery, rare wildlife encounters, and adventures like dog sledding. But the premium experiences come at a higher price – expect to budget $7,500 and up for similar Alaskan cruises.
  • European Cruises : Immerse your family in Old World cultures and charm. While these cruises are expensive (around $8,000+ for five nights), they combine top-notch Disney service with educational excursions.
  • Bahamas & Mexican Riviera : More budget-friendly warm weather options, with 5-night cruises starting at around $4,500. Offer beautiful beaches and landmarks paired with Disney magic.

When selecting a destination, balance your family’s interests and budget. Seek an affordable tropical getaway or splurge on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure – the decision is yours!

4. Understanding Onboard Cost Considerations

A spa technician stands near a massage table at Senses spa onboard a Disney cruise ship

Indulge in a spa treatment at Senses… for a fee

While the base Disney Cruise fare covers accommodations, dining, and entertainment, you’ll want to factor in potential additional expenditures as well:

  • Specialty Dining : Upcharge restaurants like Palo and Remy offer elevated cuisine and service (typically $45-$125 per guest).
  • Shore Excursions : Guided land tours range from $50 for basic options to $300+ for specialized activities like helicopter tours.
  • Spa Treatments : Prices range from $100 for basic services to over $400 for 90-minute bamboo couples massages.
  • Souvenirs : Peruse gift shops for Disney keepsakes, with typical prices starting from $20. More unique items can cost $100+.
  • Beverages : Cocktails ($8+ each) and specialty coffees ($3-7) boost onboard tabs.
  • Kid Activities : Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers range from $100 to $450.

Consider these additional costs when planning your Disney Cruise for four.

Our Family’s Disney Cruise Cost Breakdown

I have learned through experience that understanding and managing expenses is essential to making these dream vacations a reality. Over the past few years, my wife Jaimie, son Ben, daughter Ava, and I have taken two Disney Cruise Line voyages, learning to balance value, enjoyment, and the signature Disney magic within our family’s budget. Key factors that affected our bottom line included cruise duration, destination, stateroom category, and onboard costs.

Here are cost insights into our last two family cruises:

Our 5-Night Caribbean Cruise Adventure

Our tropical getaway marked our triumphant return to Disney Cruise Line after the pandemic. We had a wonderful time with our children, making magical memories under the sun and sand.

  • Duration : 5 nights
  • Stateroom : Mid-Tier Deluxe Oceanview
  • Total Cost : Approximately $8,000

We chose a Deluxe Oceanview stateroom because it offered a fantastic ocean view without the added expense of a verandah. Our family enjoyed the complimentary dining and activities, especially at Disney’s picturesque Castaway Cay. Jaimie and I splurged on an adults-only night out at the specialty restaurant Palo. Overall, we had a memorable Disney vacation that provided great value.

Our 7-Night Alaskan Cruise Odyssey

Our Disney adventure reached awe-inspiring new heights with this once-in-a-lifetime journey.

  • Duration : 7 nights
  • Stateroom : Premium Verandah
  • Total Cost : Approximately $11,000

We enjoyed a Family Verandah stateroom, which allowed us to take in the glaciers and wildlife from our private balcony. We balanced some luxury excursions with economical onboard entertainment and dining, making this cruise a momentous milestone vacation for the ages.

Insights from Our Family’s Disney Cruise Experience

Our experiences on Disney Cruises have given us the knowledge to help families achieve their dream trips by striking a balance between value and magical experiences. Here is a more detailed look:

  • Dining Choices : We took advantage of the included dining options, which were both economical and enjoyable. This allowed us to enjoy delicious meals without incurring additional expenses.
  • Stateroom Selection : We chose a Deluxe Oceanview stateroom, which offered a good balance between affordability and comfort. While Verandah rooms were tempting, especially for scenic routes, the Oceanview option provided a pleasant experience at a lower cost.
  • Entertainment and Activities : Free entertainment was a major advantage. The ship offered endless activities, from shows to pools, at no extra cost.
  • Utilizing Kids’ Clubs : A highlight was the free kids’ clubs, which provided fantastic, age-appropriate fun for our children while we enjoyed adult time.

Expanded Budgeting Tips for a Disney Cruise

Smart budgeting can significantly enhance your Disney Cruise experience.

Here are some additional tips to consider:

  • Off-Peak Travel : Cruising during less popular times, like the off-season, can lead to better deals.
  • Smart Excursion Choices : We balanced our desire for one-of-a-kind experiences with cost considerations, opting for a mix of free activities and well-researched tours.
  • Dining Within Budget : The included dining options on the ship were not only convenient but also helped us save money, reducing the temptation to splurge on specialty dining.
  • Utilizing a Travel Agency : Partnering with agencies like The Vacationeer can offer advantages. They often have access to the best deals and can sometimes secure extra perks like onboard credit.
  • Looking for Promotions : Keep an eye out for limited-time offers, resident discounts, or other special promotions that Disney Cruise Line may offer. These can provide significant savings.
  • Early Booking : Booking your Disney cruise well in advance can sometimes lead to better rates and more stateroom options.
  • Last-Minute Deals : Last-minute Disney Cruise bookings can also offer savings, although options may be limited.

Frequently Asked Questions About Disney Cruise Costs

Are kids’ clubs included in the base fare.

Yes, kids’ clubs come complimentary with your cruise booking, adding tremendous value through diverse activities tailored specially for children. This popular offering provides hours of entertainment without any extra fees.

What’s the best way to find an affordable Disney Cruise?

Booking during special promotional windows and selecting more economical stateroom categories are two effective strategies for savings. Additionally, using a specialist like The Vacationeer grants access to exclusive perks that minimize costs.

What’s the average price for a family of 4?

For planning purposes, a typical Caribbean cruise spans five nights and costs approximately $7,760 in total for a family of four, working out to about $1,940 per person . But prices can range more widely based on factors like season, itinerary, and room type.

How much should I budget for a 7-night Disney Cruise?

Expect premium pricing for an extended 7-night Disney Cruise, likely meeting or exceeding $10,000 for a family of four, depending on variables like stateroom level. Unique destinations like Alaska or Europe and high seasons increase costs further through added demand.

Yes, children are typically offered lower fares than the standard adult rate, with savings dependent on their age bracket, cruise duration, and occasionally even room category. Not too bad overall…I wonder what it will look like when I can book on the 24th.

' src=

Yup. Way cheaper than what I expected. Not booking yet (want a Halloween cruise on the Wish) but encouraging

' src=

Ana, try not to use the word cheaper someone may be listening:) I am happy to see that DCL is not trying to take advantage of their clientele and remaining the class act that they have always been.

' src=

Spot on Jo. Don’t let anyone hear you say that! As for the pricing, I didn’t expect a drastic jump outside of the maiden and first few sailings for obvious reasons. The Wish is replacing the Dream and it isn’t like they added sailings at Port Canaveral, so you can’t take the Dream away, put in the newest ship, and automatically start charging $500 to $1000 more a stateroom. I figured the Wish would settle in with comparable pricing for the 3/4-night itineraries out of Port Canaveral which were offered by the Dream. One reader emailed me a spreadsheet where they compared opening day Dream Summer 2021 vs Wish 2022 and it was interesting that the starting prices were only up slightly approximately 10% for inside, Oceanview, and verandah. Surprisingly, the concierge pricing for the Wish dropped.

' src=

While looking around at the rate details, I noticed that it mentions in a couple of places that “full payment is required at the time of booking for all guests and is non refundable.” Is this normal for early sailings on a new ship?

' src=

What have the maiden voyages looked like in the past? Are there special events, etc? So excited for the possibility of booking to be on the first trip-opportunities like that don’t come around very often!

Disney Cruise Line names its newest cruise ship

I t was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.

Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.
