Six Reasons Why Going To Gigs Alone Is The Best
So you want to go see that metalcore band you love but none of your friends like that “shouty” music? Or you REALLY want to go check out that new artist on TikTok you discovered but all your mates won’t go to a gig where they only know one song? Or worse, your group of friends cannot get themselves organized and work out which show and when to go on a tour, so you’re worried you’ll miss out on tickets. Let them be miserable and start living your best life by going to concerts by yourself. Trust us, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do!
Going to gigs alone can be daunting. What am I going to do with myself in between sets? Are people going to think I’m weird? Why would I not want to share the experience?
Listen, we are all for sharing the experience, but sometimes it’s either missing out or going alone, and in those cases we definitely recommend going alone. Here’s a few reasons why you’ll never regret it once you build up the courage to go through with it.
1 . See artists you really REALLY want to see
Imagine the FOMO of missing your favourite band on their new tour, hearing all those new songs live, seeing everyone post about it. Don’t let that happen, and get that ticket. Plus you then get to tell the pals who didn’t want to come how you saw that band or artist before they blew up or how they played that one B-side track that everyone loves – now who has FOMO?
2. Meet new friends
It’s no secret that music brings people together. That moment when everyone’s favourite ballad hits and there’s not a dry eye in the building, you turn to your left or right and suddenly you bond with a stranger over your favourite song. For the metalheads, we also recommend mosh pits, follow the rules of the pit but what a way to make new friends!
3. The freedom
Now hear us out – but going to a gig alone means you can get to the venue when you want, you can go to the loos when you want, you can stand in line at the merch for hours and no one will ask if you’re sure you want to wait. And no one will drag you home when you want to wait after the show has finished and find every piece of confetti or ask for the setlist.
4 . It’s a cult
You are not alone in going to gigs by yourself, you’d probably be surprised by how many people do the same thing. Some fan groups even have entire sub cultures of going to gigs alone (shoutout to Frank Turner’s solo armada, we see you!) – bringing us back to reason #2, new friends.
5. Confidence boost
Going to a gig by yourself will do wonders for your confidence. Sure the first time might feel a bit awkward and weird, but isn’t it always? Remember your first day of school? And then it was kind of okay after a while (let’s ignore our teenage years…) Once you’ve done it and experience all of the divinity of a solo gig you’ll feel free as a bird.
6. Experience the music your way
Whether you love hanging out by the bar, need to be front row, prefer seats or want to leave a bit earlier to catch the last train – the world is your oyster! The experience is yours, you don’t need to coordinate with someone else, rely on them to enjoy the show as much as you are and have as much of a good time as you are. And frankly, if you took a chance on a new genre or new artist and it isn’t your vibe, you can just go home. Glorious.
So there you have it – doesn’t sound too bad now does it?! At the end of the day it all comes down to you and your artist, a concert will always be a shared experience whether with strangers or friends. The most important thing to do is have fun.
Your next gig awaits
It all starts here.
Create memories to last a lifetime
Whether it’s your favourite band, an evening with friends, discovering new artists or the seventh show on the tour, we are your go-to home for all things live music.
Don’t miss out on the biggest announcement and keep checking back for latest news and last chance tickets.

When June McDoom’s love of vintage folk from the sixties and seventies blossomed, she was quick to realise there were seldom any artists with similar identities to her own. She sought to change that, in turn writing gorgeous neo-folk music that feels both timeless and of our times.

Best UK Tours 2023/4 – Reviews & Itinerary Guide
By: Author Tracy Collins
Posted on Last updated: June 13, 2023
Taking one of the many UK tours on offer can be a great way to explore the United Kingdom if this is one of your first trips in the UK. There are several advantages to taking a guided or self-guided tour for part (or all) of your time visiting the UK.
Guided tours of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland allow you to minimise the travel hassle as you’ll have a company to do most of the planning for you, and many of the United Kingdom tour package options we’ve included here allow you to see far more of the UK in a shorter period of time than it would be possible to do on your own.
Guided tours of UK can also offer good value for money, and there are some great UK trip packages on offer. Unfortunately, choosing which UK tour to take is not so easy – as the choice of tours in UK can be really overwhelming. There are just so many, so where to start looking?
In this guide I’ll walk you through some of my favourite UK tour itineraries and how to choose the best UK tour that’s right for you. Whether you’re looking for England tours, cheap UK tours, all-inclusive England vacation packages, or the best coach holidays UK has, you’ll find plenty of options in this blog. I’ve also included some of my recommended cycling and walking holidays UK has for those looking for an active break.
Let’s get started with the best Great Britain tours 2023/4 options on offer!

If you want to compare even more of the best coach trips the UK has or other styles of tour, I recommend TourRadar as a great place to compare tours and read more UK tour reviews.
When planning for your trip to England or the rest of the UK, it’s important to take seasonality into consideration. I go over all the details of the weather and the seasons in the UK here in this article .
When comparing tour operator UK options and which trip to take, be aware that UK tours tend to run with reduced frequency during the winter months, with many of the best UK tour packages running more frequently in spring and summer (April – August).
While some British coach holidays run year-round, speciality outdoor trips such as cycling holidays UK options may only run during summer months.
Best United Kingdom Tours – Choosing the Best Tour for you
When searching for the best UK travel packages and tours, there are many factors to consider. Here are some of the top things I recommend taking a few minutes to think about before deciding on the best tour of Britain for you:
Many of the most popular UK guided tour options are small group tours. UK small group tours vary widely in size with what is deemed to be a ‘small’ group – with some having up to 50 in a group while others keep it to 12 or under.
Coach tours UK options are a convenient way to travel around with the rest of your group and often allow more to be fitted into an itinerary than independently travelling by train.
These range in style and you can find plenty of luxury coach holidays UK options as well as budget bus tours UK.
If you want to take the train but also like the idea of a guided tour, you could consider one of the train holidays UK options listed below.
This is the one most of us forget to consider! In order to fit as much in as possible, some of the popular coach holidays in England and the rest of the UK move very fast, taking in multiple cities and sights in a day and usually spending only 1 night in a place.
This can get tiring, so if you prefer to spend at least a couple of nights in each place, check for itineraries that allow you more time or you could consider choosing one of the self-drive holidays UK options available.
Also, see our tips at the end of this article for extending your stay in the UK by spending extra days in London, Edinburgh, or any of the other common UK tour starting and endpoints.
England vacation packages and tours have different inclusions depending on the style of trip and company.
Most include transport, guide, accommodation and some meals, but check the small print so you know what you are and aren’t getting included on tours to England.
The entrance fees to many sights are often not included in tour pricing.
Best Great Britain Tours (England, Scotland, Wales)
Below you’ll find our favourite United Kingdom trip tour packages that take in England, Scotland and in some cases Wales, too. For tours that also include Ireland, see the next section.

Best for fitting lots of England in at a great price
Starting in London and finishing in Edinburgh, this 10 day London – Scotland tour by Trafalgar Tours England is a great option for those who want to see as much as possible during their trip and don’t mind travelling at a faster pace.
One of the popular tours of England and Scotland, this itinerary spends 3 days taking in the sights of London at the start of the tour, so you don’t need to worry about booking additional time at the start of the tour (unless you want to).
From London, head north to Oxford and Bath before crossing the Welsh borders and exploring some fine Welsh castles . You’ll also visit Chester, Lancaster and Hadrian’s wall before finishing in Edinburgh.
If you want to include a trip to Wales in your UK tour itinerary then this is a great tour to go for, and history lovers will enjoy every stop of this trip that showcases the UK’s history from the Wars of the Roses to Roman Bath – you even get to stay at Ruthin Castle in Wales – a 13th century castle with its original moat!
Best for seeing it all in seven days
If you only have seven days to spend in the UK, this whistle-stop tour will whisk you up and down the length and breadth of Britain to introduce you to the highlights. Included on the itinerary are a list of destinations for day trips outside London – and beyond.
The cities of Bath, Cambridge and York in England, plus the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, are included. Stratford-upon-Avon is also visited as the home of the UK’s most revered playwright. Experiences to savour include seeing Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis in Scotland, and enjoying a traditional roast dinner in historic, compact York.
In addition to Georgian Bath and the capital London, this seven day tour takes you to some other fascinating UK locations too. There’s sculptor Antony Gormley’s famous Angel of the North artwork, a Scottish border town, Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, and the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness.
Once you head down the west coast, the musical and sporting city of Liverpool awaits. You’ll also venture into Wales to see the city of Cardiff and a mediaeval Welsh castle. After touring Bath, the last stop en route back to London is Stonehenge. This ancient site is shrouded in mystery – and a must on the itinerary of every visitor to the UK.
Best for train travel and rail holidays UK
There’s arguably nothing more quintessentially British than train travel – and if life on the rails in Britain is what you’ve been romanticising about, then this is one of the train tours UK for you.
This UK rail itinerary takes in the best of Scotland and England, with the chance to ride on one of the best-known steam train trips UK has to offer on the Jacobite steam train from Fort William to Mallaig.
You’ll travel on the West Highland Line, North East Main Line that links Edinburgh and York, and the West Coast Mainline south from Glasgow.
Travel is at a more leisurely pace with 2 nights spent in most cities, staying in mostly 4* hotels. You’ll also get to see Bath and Stonehenge before finishing in London.
If you’re looking for guided tours of England and Scotland by train, this is a great itinerary to go for. You’ll get to experience many of the UK’s best-known railways and take in the country’s top historic and cultural sights along the way. Travel is by train and private coach.
The Lake District & Scotland – Rabbie’s – 9 Days
Best for taking in the beautiful scenery of the Lake District & Scottish Highlands
Rabbie’s tours of the UK offer great value for money, and if you want to be immersed in some of the UK’s finest landscapes and are interested in guided walking holidays UK options, this is a great way to dip your toes in.
Starting in Manchester, this itinerary is a ‘rail and trail’ combination of 2 Rabbie’s trips , meaning you’ll change minibus and guide half way through.
First you’ll explore the stunning Lake District in the beautiful north west of England, enjoying Windermere and Ullswater before taking the train up to Edinburgh for your Highlands adventure that visits some of the most scenic spots on Scotland’s west coast: Uban, Mull and Skye before heading back to the mainland to visit the iconic Eilean Donan castle.
If you’re looking for the best adventure tours UK has, then we recommend Rabbie’s who deliver great tours at a budget-friendly price point for those who love the outdoors.
Best for Scottish Highlands exploring and Solo Trips UK.
If you’re looking to focus your UK trip on Scotland , then this 7 day Scotland tour from Edinburgh by G Adventures is well worth a look.
G Adventures also offer very reasonable single supplements if you’re looking for the best solo holidays uk options – or you can choose to share a room with another traveller of the same sex. Either way, G Adventures UK is popular with solo travellers.
Starting in Edinburgh and finishing in Glasgow, this Scotland tour takes in Inverness and the famous Loch Ness, Culloden Moor (famous for the Jacobite rising of 1745), the beautiful Isle of Skye and Fort William, with a chance to snap the famous Jacobite Steam Train crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct (a must for Harry Potter fans) en route.
Accommodation is on a twin-share basis in 3* hotels and travel is by private minibus.
If you want the highlights of the highlands of Scotland, this is a good tour to go for, with the option to add on extra days at the start or end of your tour – you could easily spend more time in Edinburgh, or head down to London.
Off the beaten-path Highlands of Scotland
One of our favourite Great Britain vacation packages for getting a little off the beaten path is this wonderful northern Scotland adventure by Insight Vacations. Perfect for those wanting to see more of the Scottish Highlands or try something different when it comes to the many UK holiday packages.
Starting in Edinburgh, on this upscale tour you’ll take in Inverness and Loch Ness, the beautiful and remote Orkney Islands at the northern tip of Scotland – a part that few visitors see – before heading south down the west coast of Scotland to take in the Isle of Skye, the stunning Glencoe pass and Loch Lomond before finishing up in Glasgow.
Accommodation is in 4* hotels and travel is by private coach.
This is certainly one of the best UK coach holidays 2021 has to offer if the Scottish Highlands have been calling to you. You’ll love this one if you want to see the full diversity of landscapes and richness of community and culture that Scotland has.
Best of Scotland
Best for uncovering all four corners of Scotland
If you want to find the best luxury coach tours in the UK that cover much of what lies north of the border, then the Best of Scotland tour from Trafalgar is a popular option for summer. The adventure begins in the capital of Edinburgh on day one. You’ll then be transported around Bonnie Scotland for seven days before ending up in Glasgow.
This vibrant city lies to the west of Edinburgh. It’s the biggest in Scotland in terms of both population and square mileage. The metropolis is renowned for its magnificent architecture and as a cultural hub for fans of music, museums and more.
After arrival and on the second day of the tour, you’ll delve deeper under the surface of the historic and breathtakingly beautiful Scottish capital. Key sights including Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and Palace of Holyroodhouse are visited during your guided tour, and you’ll also enjoy free time to spend as you wish.
Between leaving Edinburgh and arriving in Glasgow – both of which are in southern Scotland – you’ll head north. The first stop is St. Andrews, where Prince William met Kate Middleton, before overnighting at a hotel in the Cairngorms National Park. During day four, you’ll visit the site of the famous Jacobite uprising, see Eilean Donan Castle, look out for the Loch Ness Monster and head over to the Isle of Skye.
The fifth day of the tour includes Ben Nevis and Glencoe en route to Glasgow. After staying overnight there, you’ll take a city tour before calling at Clydeside whisky distillery and Stirling Castle on day six. Day seven is departure day, unless you decide to stay on in Glasgow for longer.
Best for touring unspoiled Scotland
If what appeals to you most about the British Isles is the chance to spend time in Bonnie Scotland, this tour to far northern Scotland might be the one for you. It’s what Great Britain vacations are made of for many – beguiling cities, beautiful coastline and of course a dazzlingly rich and varied history.
Day one transports you from Edinburgh to Inverness, via the famous Forth Bridge, picture-perfect Perthshire, the peaceful village of Dunkeld, the fascinating Highland Folk Museum, the Cairngorms National Park, bloody Culloden Battlefield and the standing stones at Clava Cairns.
Next up on the second day is the spectacular North Coast 500 trail, via French-style Dunrobin Castle, en route to the island of Orkney. Puffin territory and an astonishingly well-preserved Neolithic settlement await after overnighting on Orkney.
Both the better-known and lesser seen sights of Scotland make up much of the tour’s second half. These include Smoo Cave in Sutherland, the harbour village of Ullapool, Eilean Donan Castle, the Isle of Skye, the Jacobite Steam Train from Mallaig to Fort William and Glencoe.
During the last day, you can also choose to take an optional side trip to one of the Western Isles – namely Iona, Kerrera, Mull or Staffa. Alternatively, climb up Battery Hill in Oban or call into the
local Whisky Distillery. Finally, before heading back to Edinburgh, visit the Kelpies and Stirling Castle.
Best England, Ireland, Scotland Tour packages
Some of these itinerary options include the best England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales tours for a comprehensive circuit of the British Isles, while others combine Ireland and Scotland to get a fuller taste of the Celtic lands.
Best for a whistle-stop tour of the UK and Ireland
If seeing England and Scotland isn’t enough for you, then you might like to add on Ireland. This ten day trip is arguably the best way to see England, Scotland and Ireland in one hit. It lasts for ten days, and packs far more into that time than you could feasibly manage on a self-guided basis.
First up after departing London is Shakespeare country and Stratford-upon-Avon, then it’s the Yorkshire cities of York and Bradford. The Yorkshire Dales, Lake Windermere, Gretna Green and Glasgow are then on the agenda for day three.
There’s a day in Edinburgh for the fourth day, before heading to Ayrshire, Belfast, Dublin, Kilkenny and Waterford on day five and six. Cardiff, Bath and Windsor are the final stops before the tour winds up back in London.
This tour offers incredible value for money, and really maximises each and every day when time in the UK is tight.
Best for trips to England and Ireland that include the main highlights
If you’re looking at tours of England, Scotland and Ireland, then this 10 day trip by Globus may tick all the right boxes.
Start and end in London on this tour that takes in the English highlights of Stonehenge and Bath before exploring Newport and Cardiff in Wales en route by ferry to Waterford and Dublin in Ireland.
Head north through Ireland towards the up-and-coming city of Belfast and crossing back into Scotland to take in the sights of the Scottish capital, Edinburgh.
On the final leg you’ll head south through York and Stratford upon Avon to London to soak up the best of English history. Travel is by coach.
This is one of the best tours of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland if you’re tight on time and don’t want to forgo any of the countries of the British Isles. The travel is at a fairly fast pace though – so you may wish to add on a few days to relax at the end of your trip.
Best for combining Scottish Highlands & Ireland
One of the comprehensive UK tours from London options in this list, this itinerary works well if you want to start in London and have a few days before your trip starts to explore the UK’s capital – either through an extension booked through Insight or under your own steam.
Leaving London, this ultimate UK tour takes in the historic English highlights of Stratford and York before heading past Hadrian’s Wall to Edinburgh and circling the Scottish Highlands.
Take in the legendary sights of Loch Ness, Glencoe and a boat trip on Loch Lomond before heading back south into England and Wales, and crossing over into Ireland.
Travel is by private coach and accommodation is at 4* hotels.
On this grand UK tour, you’ll spend a total of 5 nights in Ireland and 7 in England & Scotland, making this the perfect UK tour packages from London when you just want to see it all!
Best for English countryside and Roman history
Following the route of Hadrian’s Wall makes for one of the best road trips in the UK. Though the wall is quite justifiably famous, the route along it is far less touristy than other parts of the British Isles. The wall stretches from near Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the east to the compact city of Carlisle in the west.
Hadrian’s Wall can be found within the more peaceful parts of England’s two most northerly counties. As this is a walking tour you’ll need a reasonable level of fitness, but this also means you’ll get up really close to the sights of Cumbria and Northumberland. And of course the unspoiled English countryside, with its dry stone walls and sheep-dotted emerald fields.
To give you some idea of the distances, the first day’s walk is around eight miles, between Carlisle and Irthington. Other walks include the six mile trek between Lanercost Priory and Gilsland, the three-and-a-half Walltown Crags to Haltwhistle route and seven miles from Once Brewed to Brocolitia Fort. It’s also nine miles from Chollerford to East Wallhouses, and about five from East Wallhouses to Wylam.
Highlights of this tour include the pretty Cumbrian village Crosby-on-Eden; Birdoswald, Housesteads, Brocolitia and Vindolanda Roman Forts, Walltown quarry, Sycamore Gap, the site of the victory of Oswald and the historic old Military Road.

Accommodation is typically in tourist class hotels (3* and 4*) with well known brands. Globus is popular among travellers aged in their 50’s, 60’s and up for the convenience of travel by coach and their tours have more meals and excursions included than some.
Expect itineraries that pack places in, so you’ll see a lot, and stays are typically 1 night.
GRJ are the go-to for UK steam tours and railway journeys around the UK and beyond, so if travelling the UK by train is what you’re hoping to do, look no further.
Itineraries are designed to take in iconic lines and to provide the best steam train holidays UK has (or ‘regular’ trains). Journeys are escorted by a Tour Manager, and the majority of travellers are either solo travellers or couples aged between 45 – 80.
Accommodation is in 3* hotels or higher. The maximum group size on any trip is 50, or you can opt for a tailor made travel experience.
Insight Vacations are an upscale tour company offering luxury UK coach tours with up to 40 people per group.
Travellers are typically 45 and up, and itineraries are a little more relaxed than many other tour companies, including 2 night stays at many destinations and “relaxed starts” in the morning spread out through the trip allowing time to catch up on rest if you need it.
Accommodation is in 4* hotels and trips are accompanied by a tour manager.
Famous for great value adventures around the world, in the UK Intrepid offer a range of shorter ‘retreat’ style trips – so if you’re after hiking trips UK or a guided walking and cycling holiday, look no further.
Accommodation is in local guest houses and you’ll be accompanied by your own Intrepid Travel guide for the duration of the trip.
Maximum group size is 12, and rooms are on a twin share basis with the same sex if you’re a solo traveller, or you can pay a supplement to have your own room.
Offering a mix of small group tours, independent adventures, cruises and self-drive vacations, Indus Travels allows you to set your own pace of travel with flexible itineraries when you choose one of their ‘unbundled tours’ or self-drive trips.
Self-drive trips are just you, your car rental, itinerary and accommodation, whereas group tours have up to 22 travellers, English-speaking local guides, deluxe accommodation and air conditioned coaches included.
Indus is popular with younger and older travellers alike, with many travellers in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.
Well known and popular Trafalgar Tours England have been offering coach travel around the UK for many years and have many happy customers behind them.
Group tours have a maximum of 50 people, travelling by coach to the most popular destinations. They are popular for England tours for seniors (and younger people), and on any of their England tour packages you’re guaranteed to have a lot packed into your itinerary. That’s one thing to bear in mind – this is definitely not slow travel – but it’s a good way to get an overview of the British Isles.
All tours are accompanied by a guide and accommodation is tourist class 3* or 4* international standard hotels.
Rabbie’s tours have some great England travel deals (and beyond). They’re a small group tours company providing great value breaks that help you get off the beaten track in the UK and Europe.
Rabbie’s aim to support local communities and promote responsible travel, by keeping tour groups small (10 people). They also work differently to other tour companies in that accommodation is not included in the tour price – once you book your tour you can choose your accommodation from a selection offered by Rabbie’s to suit your budget and preferences.
The name Rabbie’s comes from the nickname for famous Scot, Robert Burns!
If you have a day, two, or more aside from your tour, we highly recommend taking advantage of those to explore London, or another city if your tour is starting from elsewhere – Edinburgh is another popular starting point for the UK tours mentioned in this guide.
While some tours include sightseeing in London (or another departure city), not all do – or they include a very shortened version – and trust us that 1 day is definitely not enough to see London in, especially if you’re jetlagged.
If you can, arrive a few days before your tour begins to enjoy the top London sights and get onto UK time if you’re flying in from far away. You can find our complete London travel guide here to get you started.

The biggest gigs and tours to look forward to in 2023
From reunited legends to rising stars, 2023’s live calendar is jam-packed with unmissable appointments
Times are tough right now, there’s no denying that. But there’s also no denying the healing power of music – especially going to witness your favourite artist or new obsession live. Luckily 2023 is already jam-packed with massive tours and big gigs to help brighten up our lives, whether that’s Arctic Monkeys stepping up to stadiums, rap’s newest star GloRilla showing her mettle, or reunited legends like Blur and Pulp giving us some good old nostalgia. Here are the biggest gigs and tours to look forward to this year.
- Arctic Monkeys
Dates announced: Arctic Monkeys ’ 2023 dates start early, ringing in the New Year in Australia. From there, they’ll tour Asia and Europe, before coming home to the UK for a massive stadium tour and returning to the US.
Why you should go: To witness a live show as dazzling as the mirrorball the band performed around on their 2022 tour. Something tells us the grandiose strings of latest album ‘The Car’ will sound absolutely majestic in the humongous venues the Monkeys will be playing over the next 12 months.
Dates announced: Elton John starts his year in Australia and New Zealand before returning to the UK and Europe for a Glasto finale .
Why you should go: These are quite literally your very last opportunities to see one of pop’s most iconic and unique artists. Sure, loads of acts say they’re quitting touring and then have a big change of heart a few years later, but you don’t want to take the risk of missing out on Elton.
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dates announced: Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour New Zealand, Australia and Asia in the first two months of the year, moving on to North America in spring, and Europe and the UK in summer.
Why you should go: They’re pros at the big stadium spectacular – they’ve been doing it for long enough by now. They’re also bringing some huge names with them in support, from Post Malone to The Strokes and Iggy Pop . Not bad!
- Harry Styles
Dates announced: After three rescheduled LA dates in January, Harry Styles will head to Australia in February, continuing on to Asia and Europe, arriving in the UK in May.
Why you should go: The ‘Love On Tour’ tour might seem never-ending, but even if you’ve been multiple times, it’s still a whole lot of fun to go again. Enjoy the conga lines to ‘Treat People With Kindness’ and make friends with your seatmates as you bellow out Harry’s modern pop anthems together. Sounds lovely.
Dates announced: The iconic British girl group will head down under in February before playing a one-off London date in September.
Why you should go: These dates are a continuation of the original Sugababes line-up’s reunion – Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donagh – and will see the women celebrating the 25th anniversary of the group. They’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in that time, but this feels like a perfect way to mark the milestone.
Dates announced: US tour begins January 27.
Why you should go: GloRilla is the hottest new hip-hop talent in the game and it’s not going to be long before she’s filling massive venues around the world. Get down to this tour and say you saw her first – and enjoy her mix of femininity and boldness in her infectious songs.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Dates announced: US leg begins February 1; the tour arrives in Europe on April 28, with UK dates from May 30.
Why you should go: There’s been some (deserved) uproar about very expensive tickets, but if you can find a pass at a reasonable price, Springsteen will certainly give you value for money – his gigs are known to stretch for hours, rattling through the big hits and the fan favourites far longer than most acts would perform for.
Dates announced: US leg runs from February to August, with UK dates nestled in the middle in April.
Why you should go: To hear the brilliant new songs from upcoming album ‘This Is Why’ among all the best cuts from their back catalogue. Plus, it’s been way too long since Hayley Williams and co went on a proper tour – five years, in fact.
- Caroline Polachek
Dates announced: The UK, Europe and North America are all on Caroline Polachek ’s schedule, beginning in the former in February.
Why you should go: The alt-pop star’s live shows have been described as a work of art and she always packs surprises into her sets – like at her last London gig, when she was joined by Croydon’s Trinity Girls Choir on ‘Billions’.
Self Esteem
Dates announced: UK tour kicks off in February.
Why you should go: This tour feels like a victory lap for Self Esteem , who arguably has had the best last couple of years out of all of us. Her album ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ has constantly wowed fans and critics alike, while her live show has been praised as one of the best in recent memory. Give yourself another chance to see why it’s so brilliant before she inevitably pops off to come up with her next mind-blowing record.
Dates announced: US tour kicks off February 21.
Why you should go: Because SZA ’s new album ‘SOS’ is a very late contender for Album Of The Year and, had it been released earlier, would certainly have been nearing the top of a lot of lists. If you need any more incentive (you shouldn’t), she’s also bringing along Omar Apollo in support to add some extra greatness.
Dates announced: The Doncaster rock’n’roller will head out on a world tour, beginning in the UK in February before hitting Europe and North America.
Why you should go: Yungblud ’s gigs are renowned for being inclusive, euphoric and theatrical celebrations where you can let go, be yourself and find a community of kindred spirits. We could all do with a bit more of that energy in 2023 so get down to a show and make the most of it.
Dates announced: Europe tour begins February, with UK dates from March before continuing onto North America.
Why you should go: Lizzo shows are the ultimate upper – a feel good celebration of life from one of the most infectious personalities in music. Grab your mates and make sure you get there in time for “bad bitch o’clock”.
Dates announced: The ladies of BLACKPINK will take their BORN PINK tour across Asia, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand in the first half of the year, before heading to London in July to headline BST Hyde Park.
Why you should go: This K-pop girl group know how to put on a show , from hi-tech, futuristic VTs to set the mood between each phase of the concert, to artful and flashy stage production. The songs are equally as good – by the time you leave the venue, you’ll have several jostling for place as that day’s earworm.
Dates announced: Blink ’s return begins in South America on March 11, before heading to North America in May and the UK and Europe in September.
Why you should go: It’s the pop-punk icons’ first tour with Tom DeLonge since he left the band in 2015 – aka a massive deal. There’s also a new album on the way, so this won’t just be a big nostalgia trip.
- Taylor Swift
Dates announced: US leg begins March 17; international dates TBA.
Why you should go: Taylor Swift ’s 2023 tour is dubbed ‘The Eras Tour’ and, while it’s not entirely clear exactly how she’s going to honour each of her past albums yet, it’s guaranteed to be the perfect chance to celebrate the many highs of her brilliant career so far (if you can beat Ticketmaster). Plus, the support bill in the US is stacked, with Paramore , Phoebe Bridgers , Gracie Abrams , Haim , Girl In Red , and many more along for the ride.
The Walkmen
Dates announced: US tour begins April 24; one further festival date confirmed so far at Portugal’s Paredes de Coura Festival.
Why you should go: Sure, New York in the early noughties had The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Interpol , but it also had The Walkmen , a band who often get left out of top billing when talking about that much-romanticised scene. Take one listen to the indie disco classic ‘The Rat’ and tell us that’s fair, and then go book your tickets to their reunion tour.
Dates announced: The tour begins in Europe in April, heading to the UK for two sets at Download Festival in June, before moving onto North America.
Why you should go: As if you need a reason to go and see Metallica , the titans of metal. But just in case: they’re masters of their craft – aka big, bruising, headbang-worthy riffs – and have a discography of seemingly endless anthems for you to get lost in the moshpit to.
Dates announced: The Italian rockers will tour Europe across spring with a massive London gig at The O2 in May.
Why you should go: In this day and age, it’s rare for Eurovision contestants to carve out careers post-Song Contest that aren’t short-lived or derided as novelty. But Måneskin are living proof that it is doable, so long as you have the tunes and the charisma to deserve more than 15 minutes of fame. The four-piece have both in bucketloads, as you can bear witness to on this tour.
Dates announced: An intimate UK tour in May.
Why you should go: Foals are now one of the biggest bands in the UK and so the opportunity to see them in tiny venues is a rare chance we must grab when it’s presented to us. Dance to ‘My Number’ on the sticky floor of a club in spring, then celebrate their ascent as they headline Reading & Leeds in the summer.
Dates announced: The UK and Ireland-only dates begin in May, continuing til July.
Why you should go: They’re back, baby! Just under a decade since their last live performances, Pulp have reunited once more and are taking their show back on the road to liven up our summer. Expect all the classics, but no Steve Mackey – the bassist has confirmed he won’t join the band on tour.
Dates announced: Select European festival dates woven between three headline shows in Dublin and London this June.
Why you should go: When Blur first reunited in 2009, they instantly blew away any fears that the band might not be the same after years apart. This latest reunion should be no different and the members seem in good spirits about it, too. “We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again,” Damon Albarn said when the gigs were announced.
Moldy Peaches
Dates announced: One London show and appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Madrid
Why you should go: It’s been 20 years since anti-folk icons The Moldy Peaches last performed in Europe. Although they announced their reunion with the slogan “Once a Moldy Peach, always a Moldy Peach”, who knows when this opportunity to see New York underground royalty will come around again?
Joni Mitchell
Dates announced: George, WA, Gorge Amphitheatre (June 10).
Why you should go: Joni Mitchell might be playing only one date next year but you should move heaven and earth to try and make it. Why? The last time she held a full concert was 23 years ago and it’s unlikely she’s about to hit the road for even a handful more dates at this point, so it could be your only chance to see the bonafide legend live.
Pet Shop Boys
Dates announced: The UK and European tour runs from June to July.
Why you should go: This is Pet Shop Boys ’ ‘Dreamworld – The Greatest Hits Live’ tour so you’re basically assured that you’re going to hear all of the biggest and best songs in their inimitable arsenal.
Dates announced: London, Finsbury Park (June 23)
Why you should go: It’s Jamie T ’s biggest headline show to date and bound to be an absolute riot. This is an artist who can do indie disco bangers, poignant, softer (if booze-soaked) cuts, and everything in between and make it seem effortless.
The Weeknd
Dates announced: UK and Europe tour begins in June before covering Latin America.
Why you should go: This huge stadium tour will cover both of The Weeknd ’s two latest albums – ‘After Hours’ and ‘Dawn FM’ – taking you inside the sci-fi-tinged world of both masterpieces.
Dates announced: Stormzy will take over one day of London’s All Points East, curating a special ‘This Is What We Mean Day’.
Why you should go: The whole day will be Stormzy’s vision – something he’s already proved countless times is a great thing. The line-up has yet to be announced but expect to discover exhilarating new talent, big names making surprise appearances and, of course, it all to be topped off by a headline set from Big Mike himself.
The Postal Service & Death Cab For Cutie
Dates announced: US tour kicks off September 8
Why you should go: Ben Gibbard is pulling double duty on the tour, fronting both The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie . The tour itself is a celebration of two albums – the former’s ‘Give Up’ and the latter’s ‘Transatlanticism’, and you’ll get to see both played in full. What more could you ask for?

When is Roger going release a CD/Album of some of Pete’s solo songs that coulda, woulda, shoulda been Who songs???? What better project during Who down times to keep Roger’s voice fresh? He’s already done a version of “Let My Love Open The Door,” and live versions of “Sea Refuses No River,” and “Eminence Front.” The song list could span their whole career. Here are my suggestions for a Roger solo album I would LOVE to own… A Legal Matter, My Baby Gives It Away, Keep Me Turning, Rough Boys, Jools & Jim, A Little is Enough, Empty Glass, Gonna Get Ya, Sea Refuses No River, Face Dances Part Two, Stardom In Action, Eminence Front, Give Blood, A Friend Is A Friend, and lastly, English Boy. This would make a great 80th Birthday release for Roger and Who fans!!!!!
I am in a wheelchair and had tickets for the O2.we expected UB40 to be the support, with The Who hitting the stage at 9pm. I had a hospital appointment today, but pushed myself to get to the O2. We arrived at 8:30pm, which gave us time to see The Who. When we arrived inside we discovered UB40 did not appear and The Who started at 8:15pm. Then due to a mess up by the O2 with our ticket, we were not able to sit and watch the band until 9pm. We missed 45 minutes and I am very upset. I am nearly 72 and now don’t expect to see The Who again.
Sorry you had so much trouble at the 02 on Wednesday. UB40 featuring Ali Campbell were not billed to appear at the 02 and it said so on our web site and social media posts. The start time for The Who was also not stated as 9.00pm.
Great show at the 02, thank you for the amazing music
Hi. What time at Derby tomorrow please? It says 1700 but that seems really early.
Going to the Derby show tonight with my eldest son, looking forward to it. What time will the show likely finish, as checking trains back to Nottingham afterwards?
About 10.30pm
A much weaker sound at Derby than at the 02 and a very poor response from the audience, I’m afraid many of them where I was didn’t seem to know who it was they were listening to?! (Why did they come?). Also, and no disrespect to those who behaved properly, loud talking ,and very heavy drinking all night! Seemed to adversely affect the performance as the band must have been aware of the response?!
Absolutely fantastic in Derby last night. Pete ‘windmilling’ and Roger hitting that high at end of ‘Who are you’…. and the incredible violin playing in Baba O’Riley. Wow!
What a great idea, Michael! I often thought the same hearing ROGER sing certain songs on Pete’s Solo projects. Here’s one I would add to your list: “somebody save me.” Roger to me is the best rock ‘n’ roll singer of all time, an inspiring man and artist; I saw him opening his North American solo tour in Vancouver, BC, Canada around 2006, I think; to me that particular touring band sounded like The Who on Leeds and Quadrophenia, and I think those guys would generate a WHO-like experience for this recording project. To me, that was “Young Man Blues” from Leeds, and “The Real Me” from Quadrophenia; would be a an amazing gift to get another record that blows you away. Roger still has the power and skill and spirit. Cheers, with Gratitude!
I’ve got tickets for the concert at Hove on Sun 23rd July. I know the gates open at 4pm, but I can’t get there then…. Can you tell me, please, what time UB40 are due on. And then what time The Who are due to take to the stage. I’ve searched everywhere for this info but can’t find it. Thanks
UB40 probably around 6.30pm and The Who around 8.15pm
Incredible so far seen the Paris both Edinburgh shows and Derby utterly brilliant. Incredible. Make no mistake The Who continue to amaze.
Really looking forward to seeing the tour in St. Helens on Friday. I’m taking my Dad as a birthday treat, he’ll be 75,hes always been a Who fan but never seen you live. I see gates open at 4:30pm, but what time should we expect UB40 to come on stage?
About 6.30pm, Mike.
Paris was immense; both Edinburgh shows were ‘Remarkable’ according to the Edinburgh Herald. Derby was fantastic described by a critic as ‘Heartstopping’. I’m off to Durham and St.Helens this week; can’t wait!!!!!!!
So looking forward to St Helens on Friday. It’ll be 50 years in November since I saw the band live for the first time of many since – and what better way to celebrate my ‘Who-iversary’than seeing them again? Bring it on!
Travelled in from Detroit specifically to see them at Edinburgh and Badminton shows – both shows were absolutely incredible. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Pete rip out a Rickenbacker guitar for a few songs, what a pleasure to see and hear. Roger’s voice and swinging mike were a flashback to earlier times. People were so great to us, we felt so welcomed here, thank you for that. The Who is a National Treasure, we will never forget this entire trip. Met so many new friends, and our old ones were on the stage. Well done!!!
As the UK’s number one fan, I’d love to meet up with likeminded people; I’m staying at the Campanile in Washington tomorrow, prior to the Durham show. Hopefully see fellow fans there.
Are all the stands for St helens closed? Just had am e.ail from see tickets moving me from a good veiw to one o the oor were I would t see when everyone stands up all within one day of show?
I remember as a 9 year old Boy listening to My Generation back in 1965. I have seen them on numerous occasions.Went to Edinburgh first Night and off to Hove on Sunday.Pete , Roger, thank you for all your Music and the happy times I have had watching you and listening. You have been a big part of my life, absolutely brilliant
Just been to the St Helens gig…1st time was Charlton in 76…this was just as great…ya can’t kill rock n roll…love these guys and the fans are just as crazy as ever…where would we be without The Who…!
It’s been some time doin’ Europe (Holland)………
I took my mum, dad and uncle last night to st helens and it was one of the best live performances I’ve ever been to! Vocals, music, lights, everything was amazing. The orchestra were fantastic too, especially the violinist towards the end!
Went to the St Helens gig…as good as Charlton in 76 – my first of many. Great time down at front…Thanks Pete and Roger and band…ya can’t kill rock n roll…!
We saw you at Bristol Badminton Estate. The show was amazing with orchestra, we had a fantastic time. Epic!!!!!! Thank you
Going to the show today but the weather isn’t looking great. Is there a risk of not going on due to weather?
Dear musicians, once I stand for closed doors in Dublin. I bought tickets long time before. Arrived after 1500 miles with parts of my family in our old car, started in Hannover Germany. And than this fucking lock down. A big dream damaged to see, hear, feel… the band in between this crazy Irish people. Now a few weeks ago I saw you in Berlin. Thanks not God, thanks the universe. Thanks you, I had got wet eyes. I’m coming to Sandringham, sure.To see, hear, feel… you in between British crowds
After the volcanic hell of trying to park a car in Brighton and Hove thankfully the gig was very good, some great moments and crucially an audience of actual Who fans! Great stuff.
After seeing the bands 1st gig with the orchestra back at Wembley a few years back I was a bit unsure what to expect at Brighton, however no worries awesome sound much better than what I remembered at Wembley. Pete seemed really up for this & was fabulous to watch throughout handling all the anouncements & chat throughout, wonderful evening, wonderful gig really kicking myself for not doing the O2 night in London, please God don’t let this be the last Who concert I’ll witness.
Yes the highlight for me at Wembley was the great version of imagine a man, I think one of the things I’ve enjoyed so much this time around is the sheer joy of seeing them again and the sonic richness of the sound , when it works, it really works. Yesterday though I was amazed to see and hear the superb Rick 12 string!
Best ever show ( and I have been to some gigs ) Wife said she doesn’t need to see any more bands now as the show at Eden last night won’t be beaten by any band.

Taylor Swift announces UK, Europe and Asia tour dates for her Eras tour
- Published 21 June 2023
- Glastonbury Festival
Taylor Swift has announced international dates for her record-breaking Eras tour, with shows set for UK, Europe and Asia in 2024.
The pop star will play nine shows in the UK, with concerts in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London.
There is also a gap on Glastonbury's final night, with the star rumoured to be reclaiming the headline slot she missed in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The first leg of the tour has seen her play to record audiences in the US.
Demand for the tickets was so high that it overwhelmed Ticketmaster's systems, with thousands of fans left unable to obtain seats.
The fiasco led to Ticketmaster being hauled in front of US senators to answer questions on the company's handling of the event.
Swift herself said it was "excruciating" to watch fans struggling to get tickets, and that she had been assured Ticketmaster could cope with the demand.
For the UK dates, fans have been invited to register interest via Swift's website , although those who tried to do so after the announcement were put in a long queue.
After registration closes, fans will be sent a purchase link for tickets. The London dates then go on sale on 18 July, followed by Edinburgh on 19 July and Cardiff on 20 July.
"We expect there will be more demand than there are tickets available," Ticketmaster warned those who successfully registered.
"Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis while currently-available inventory lasts".
Taylor Swift's 2024 UK dates:
- 7 & 8 June - Edinburgh, Murrayfield Stadium
- 14 & 15 June - Liverpool, Anfield Stadium
- 18 June - Cardiff, Principality Stadium
- 21 & 22 June and 16 & 17 August - London, Wembley Stadium
Eras is Swift's first world tour since 2018, since when she has released four new studio albums, including the Grammy Award-winning Folklore.
Music publication Billboard has estimated the ticket revenue from the 52-date US tour to be $591m (£464m).
Those shows launched in March, with Swift playing a three-hour, 44-song set spanning the entirety of her recording career.
As well as hits like Shake It Off, Love Story and Lover, she plays two "surprise" acoustic songs at every show, often bringing out special guests to help.
So far, the acoustic section has included fan favourites like Mirrorball, Snow On The Beach and Getaway Car alongside more mainstream hits like Welcome To New York and her debut single Tim McGraw.

Everything we know about Taylor Swift's songwriting
Fans have been clamouring for international dates for months, and the tour extension will see her play in Asia and Australia at the start of 2024, before reaching Europe in May.
Reactions from 'Swifties' - a term the pop star has trademarked and uses to call her fans - in Asia have already been wild on social media.
She will begin her Asia tour in the Japanese capital Tokyo, where she will play for four nights beginning 7 February. She will then make her way to Australia, performing first in Melbourne for two nights, and then three nights in Sydney.
Her Asia leg ends in Singapore, the only South East Asian country in her Eras tour, where she will set up stage for three nights ending on 4 March.
The UK dates will kick off at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on 7 June, and wrap up with two nights at London's Wembley Stadium in August.
Two earlier Wembley shows appear to clash with Glastonbury's first two nights. But she has a space in her diary on Sunday 23 June, which means she could close the festival with a headline slot on the Pyramid Stage.

Reviews for the US leg of the Eras tour have been overwhelmingly positive.
"The queen of pop reclaims her throne," declared The Times , adding: "If there is a danger that shifting between 10 such different albums could lead to an uneven experience it is somehow avoided here, with Swift managing to produce a cohesive experience despite the constantly changing outfits and backdrops."
"The Swifties are certainly going to be Enchanted," said Hello magazine in a review peppered with Swift's song titles.
"It's been a long wait back to this moment, but karma is, indeed, a queen - and this was worth the wait."
"The achievement is often staggering," concluded Billboard , "with costume changes, set-piece upheaval [and] vulnerable moments in a crowd of thousands and sing-alongs that will rival the scope of any tour this year."
There have been reports of fans who couldn't get tickets gathering in car parks outside venues to sing along with the star's songs.
Other fans have reported suffering a form of amnesia after the show, due to the overwhelming nature of the experience.

The most incredible, angelic, beautiful person to ever grace this earth. I've never been more stunned by a performance. SZA met and exceeded all of my expectations, I cannot put into words how amazing she is live. It's an experience you don't want to miss if you get the chance to see her. She was so happy and humble and was continuiously appoligizing for being sick and I honestly couldn't tell, that's how great she is. Also the experience brought me life not only because I got to see her preform but because everyone was singing every single word to every song with her. Truly incredible when you are surrounded in a room full of people singing your favorite songs at the top of their lungs. Needless to say I want a live version of ctrl after all of this so I can reminisce.
Maggie Rogers
I'm so glad I got to see her in a small venue; what a magical and powerful experience. This girl radiates happiness and joy and on top of all of that, she sounds great live! There was confetti, a disco ball, Neil Young, and lots of dancing. I don't think it would have had the same effect in a large or open space, definitely jump on any chance you have to see her before she really blows up! So much love!
Absolutely incredible!! Khalid was only my second concert ever and it has inspired me to see as many as I can. It felt like every song was played at 250% and it sounded incredible. The band was phenomenal and I could really feel the music. The crowd was happy and everyone was having a good time. I'd see him again if I could.
Tyler, The Creator
I have been a fan of Tyler for a long time, as well as the whole group of OFWGKTA, and seeing him live was something I had on my bucket list. I went in with high expectations for his show, already knowing of how much energy and enthusiasm he puts into his live performances. What I got at The Forum went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. The crowd was amazing, knowing every song and shouting and yelling along with unrivaled amounts of energy. Tyler was just as, or even more, energetic and knew how to work the crowd perfectly by interaction, be it between moments talking about random things or talking about his music and singing. I was blown away by the fact that at least twice he called to stop the song just to start it again because he loved how into it the crowd was and wanted to see it again. Of course we, the crowd, loved it and drained our lungs out with every lyric. I've seen the Arctic Monkeys, Sleigh Bells, Banks, Pendulum, Wolf Alice and others and can honestly say Tyler was the best overall. Everyone exited the venue with shirts soaked in sweat and with cracking voices, with grins on their face from having experienced something they'd never forget. If you like Tyler, or by extension OFWGKTA, you have to see him live if you get the opportunity, you can never anticipate how godly his live performances will be. I will definitely be waiting for his next visit to see him again.
Absolutely the best concert I was ever at, honestly I don't think any other artist could top this. She had such an incredible presence on stage, every eye was on her and her wonderful team. Dua and her dancers moved gracefully and fluidly, with bursts of power and energy. Her vocals were insanely beautiful, every word was sung with such passion and love. Her grand finale of IDGAF and New Rules was simply amazing, with breathtaking choreography and stunning visuals behind her. The band sounded great and the backup vocalists and dancers were on point for every minute. Without a doubt in my mind it was the very best live performance I have ever seen, and I don't think anything in the future will ever compare to it. Dua Lipa, Olympia Theatre, Dublin. Monday 9th April 2018.
Moses Sumney
Moses was amazing. Very enigmatic but still approachable, and he had a lot of fun with the crowd. The performance was incredible, his voice is truly something to behold. I've listened to "Worth It" a million times but still got chills when he hit the high note. Would highly recommend seeing Moses live, especially before he gets really famous and expensive to see.
Music artists
For new users looking to follow their favorite bands and performers, our Artists pages are often the best place to start.
Whether you're on our site, or using our free app for iPhone and Android, the Songkick artists search engine is the fastest and simplest way to keep track of who's doing what right now. Be the first to learn which acts are touring, when they might be playing a venue near you, and how to get tickets for any future shows you like the sound of.
Looking to discover someone new? Hey, you’re our kind of music fan. That's why we've also included upcoming Live Stream Concerts alongside our artist searches, meaning you can easily schedule a more casual drop-in from the comfort of your couch.
Since launching our first app back in 2007, you guys - the fans, the concert-goers, the musical explorers - have been at the very heart of everything we do here. Our dream and our drive was always to bring Songkick members closer than ever before to the sounds they love, and the people who create them. Simply put, we pride ourselves on being your direct link to the greatest music artists on the planet.
Who are they, exactly? Well, according to our members, that changes almost by the hour...so let's talk about how Songkick keeps you in the loop.
Best live artists
A quick glance at our Most Popular Artists chart might tell you a few key things about the sorts of music fans we vibe with. For starters, it shows just how varied our members' tastes are. Pop, rock, dance, hip-hop, indie/alt and R&B all feature heavily, alongside a whole bunch of underground genres and rising scenes.
No two of you are quite the same - and frankly, we love to see it! Any time you check in, our 'most popular artists worldwide' and 'trending artists this week' leaderboards always read like a line-up for the greatest, most diverse live festival on Earth.
Among the top searches and best-selling music artists on our global roster, you might find anyone from Rhianna, Coldplay, Eminem and Ed Sheeran, through to Drake, U2, Kanye West,
Maroon 5, Beyoncé, The Midnight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, Imagine Dragons, Justin Bieber - and that's barely looking outside the top 20.
After all, if the weekly race for a spot on our most popular charts tells us anything, it's that the whole concept of 'best live bands' is a tricky one to pin down. Everybody's looking for a completely different type of experience, every night of the year.
That's another thing we love about our users: you're incredible at keeping us on our toes. In return, we’ve made it our mission to help keep you on yours.
Find and follow your favorite artists on Songkick
When people talk about the 'best live bands in the world', a few big names will reliably come up time and time again. Just as crucially, there'll always be a good handful of newcomers, hot tips and total curveballs in there too.
For us and our members alike, that's a huge part of what keeps the live concert scene so fresh and exciting. There's nothing quite like the thrill of discovering a new favorite artist you'd previously never even heard of - and when that discovery involves a performer blowing you away with an incredible live show or streamed concert, the feeling is enhanced tenfold.
Songkick started out with the goal of helping you capture that moment as often as possible. Now, more than a decade into this, it's 100% what we're still about today.

Mark Selby gives his take on the ‘ITV curse’ as he bids to end it at Tour Championship
Share this with
Mark Selby has done more than most in the history of snooker , but he is still bidding for his first tournament win in an ITV event, with the broadcaster a strange gap on his glowing CV.
The four-time world champion will hardly be full of regret if his brilliant career comes to an end without an ITV tournament win on his record, but it is odd that he hasn’t been able to capture any of those trophies.
They are big events on ITV, with the World Grand Prix, Players Championship and Tour Championship making up the high profile series determined by the one-year list, while the Champion of Champions and British Open are also highlights of the calendar.
Selby says it is simply the level of events that doesn’t make his ITV record too surprising, with these tournaments incredibly difficult to win even for a player of his quality.
Although even more surprising that the Jester from Leicester hasn’t won on the channel, he has reached just one final, at this season’s British Open.
‘It’s tough, obviously at some point I’d like to think I’d win one, but you just have to look at the tournaments that are on ITV,’ Selby told Metro.co.uk.
‘The British Open, it’s been a short format so it’s tough to win. All the other events, Champion of Champions, that speaks for itself, full of people who’ve won events.
‘Then it’s the top 32 [World Grand Prix], top 16 [Players Championship], now top 12 for the Tour Championship on the one-year list so to win them it’s not easy.’
Selby is taking on Gary Wilson in the first round of the Tour Championship this week, finding himself 5-3 down after Monday’s first session, with the match coming to an end on Tuesday afternoon.
He is coming to the event feeling good about his game after some impressive recent showings, including a 6-0 win over Ronnie O’Sullivan at the Players Championship and winning the Invitational Championship League.
‘I feel like the last few comps I’ve been playing a bit better,’ he said. ‘Played well against Ronnie, any win against Ronnie is good but it wasn’t like I fell over the line, I played really good.
‘In the league I played good, won that. Out in China [World Open] I played good, Jackson [Page] just played unbelievable against me, I can’t remember him missing a pot, I think I only missed two balls in the whole match. If anyone plays like that against you, you can accept losing, you just have to hold your hands up.
‘The Tour Championship is a big comp, hopefully I can put in a good performance there.’

Best time to visit the united kingdom.
The UK shines from June to August, though there’s never any guarantee that their summer is full of sunshine and warmth. The days are long, tourist crowds are abundant and the country wakes up from its dark slumber and celebrates – a lot.
Spring and autumn can be cool and wet but with some sunny days, and the days are still long enough to enjoy this country’s diverse and beautiful scenery.
Winter – December to February - brings short days, grey skies and sometimes snow, though this is more often in Scotland and England’s northern counties.
History and government
Early history.
The United Kingdom came into being in 1707 with the political union of England and Scotland (Wales was classed under the Kingdom of England). In 1800, the Act of Union with the Kingdom of Ireland formed the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The last major change was in 1922, when the Anglo-Irish Treaty saw the Irish Free State form and secede from the UK, and Northern Ireland becoming part of the UK (though it wasn’t until 1927 that the UK formerly changed its name to United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). Though united, each country had their own laws, churches and education systems.
Recent history
The 18th and 19th centuries were notable for the UK’s countless wars with France, colonisation in the Caribbean, the loss of colonies in North America, the gain of Canada, the discovery of Australia, the second wave of the British Empire in India, Asia and Africa, the beginnings of the industrial revolution, the abolishment of slavery and the long and successful reign of Queen Victoria. Needless to say, this is but a snapshot. The first half of the 20th century was marred by two devastating world wars, which not only devastated the population but the wealth of the country. It also saw the crumbling of the British Empire, with independence being sought and won in Ireland in 1922 and India in 1947, and by the 1980s Britain had withdrawn from all of its colonies. In 1997 devolution was established in Scotland and Wales.

Top 5 British subcultures
Stylish in tailored suits and classy shoes, mods’ hey-day was the early to mid sixties. They rode around on vespas, listened to modern jazz, were attracted to late night cafés and got into rumbles with rockers.
2. Skinheads
Originally nothing to do with hooligans, racists and fascism, skinheads were born in the 1960s in working class areas of the UK. Skinheads fashioned themselves on Jamaican rude boy style, listened to ska and wore tight jeans, white t-shirts, braces, checked shirts and cherry red docs.
3. Glam rockers
Glam rockers wore high shoes, outrageous clothes, dramatic makeup, lavish hairstyles and plenty of things that glittered. This subculture rose to prominence in the early 1970s and faded out about 5 years later, but went on to influence punk, goths and new romantics. Think David Bowie’s androgynous phase and Garry Glitter.
Though not originating in the UK, when punk hit the UK’s shores in the mid 70s, it was hard to miss. UK punks were on the whole more theatrical than those in the US. Armed with anti-establishment views, mohawks, ripped clothes held together by safety pins (anti-fashion), piercings and thrashing around to punk rock, punk caused a big stir, which died down not long after it exploded.
An offshoot of the post-punk scene, goth became popular in the early 1980s. Although there are many styles of goth, they are characterised by wearing dark clothes, heavy make-up and dark hair.

Cambridge University Botanic Garden, Cambridgeshire
This living library, with its series of themed gardens and glasshouses, is beautiful to visit at any time of year, but in early spring the National Plant Collection of diminutive species tulips bursts into life. These wild tulips are perennial, naturalising and have a delicate, beguiling beauty. botanic.cam.ac.uk
Hever Castle, Kent
The big draw at the former home of Anne Boleyn (and later of William Waldorf Astor, who reimagined all the gardens here) is the eye-popping display of 80,000 narcissi, which have been boosted year on year with help from bulb supremo Johnny Walkers, who has won 25 consecutive gold medals at Chelsea for his stunning daffodil displays. hevercastle.co.uk
Chiswick House, London
The 350-year-old walled kitchen garden at Chiswick House – which donates and sells its fruit, vegetables and flowers – has just reopened. Narcissi- and tulip-filled borders, and spring blossom are set within the wider 65-acre gardens. chiswickhouseandgardens.org.uk
Caerhays Estate, Cornwall
There’s no better place to see magnolias, which flower en masse throughout this 140-acre estate on the south Cornish coast. There are 40 species and a further 170 named cultivars here, many of which were planted by the current owner’s great grandfather, JC Williams, in the early 20th century – a tradition continued by each successive generation. visit.caerhays.co.uk
Wollerton Old Hall, Shropshire
This four-acre garden set around a 16th-century hall is formed of a series of jewel-box “rooms” with immaculate topiary and exquisite planting devised by owner Lesley Jenkins, who has created the garden from scratch over the past four decades. Its seasonal opening is on Easter Sunday. wollertonoldhallgarden.com
Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Kent
Harold Nicolson and Vita Sackville-West planted spring bulbs in their thousands and today the country’s most magical walled garden continues the tradition with carpets of narcissi, fritillaries and a tapestry of spring bulbs lighting up the Lime Walk and the transportive Nuttery. nationaltrust.org.uk
The Hepworth Wakefield, Yorkshire
Museum gardens have proliferated recently (a subject at the centre of a Garden Museum conference this coming summer) and this one, designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, is one of the finest examples. Thousands of narcissi, emerging tulips and swathes of blue flowers including scilla, puschkinia and anemones, pop up below gorgeous multi-stem blossom trees. hepworthwakefield.org
Iford Manor, Wiltshire
This Grade I-listed garden, set on a bucolic estate, reopens for the season on Easter weekend. Its magical architecture and topiary provides an epic backdrop to beautiful planting by head gardener Steve Lannin. ifordmanor.co.uk
Water Lane, Kent
The only thing better than gardens is great food in gardens. The development of this vast walled garden continues apace, and after you have marvelled at the endless glasshouses, there’s a delicious seasonal menu devised by head chef Jed Wrobel to dig into in Carnation House. waterlane.net
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Newly commissioned compositions by students from the Royal College of Music celebrate the sakura season at Kew, with pieces played around the garden from late March. The site is dotted with blossom trees including the Cherry Walk. You can also see Mat Colishaw’s Petrichor exhibition, which explores the complex relationship between art and nature. kew.org

We must crack down on people displaying swastikas at protests, says Lammy
Nazi symbol a representation of anti-Semitic hatred with or without context, says shadow foreign secretary
The swastika is a symbol of “vile anti-Semitism” and the police should bear down hard on those who use it during protests, David Lammy has said.
The shadow foreign secretary made the comments after a row erupted at the weekend when a Metropolitan Police officer was filmed telling a Jewish woman that a swastika in and of itself was not necessarily illegal and needed to be “taken in context” .
Mr Lammy dismissed the idea that context was needed, saying: “It’s a hate symbol, and it’s got to be treated as such.” He said it was “outrageous” that Jewish people felt unsafe on the streets of London amid ongoing pro-Palestinian marches .
Speaking on LBC Radio, Mr Lammy said: “All of us know that the swastika is a vile, terrible Nazi image that led to the attempted destruction of the Jewish people and certainly the loss of life of millions and millions of people.
“Not just Jewish people, actually – black people were killed, disabled people were killed, gay men and women were murdered by the Nazis.
“And the idea that a swastika is something where you need ‘context’, when clearly it is aimed at Jewish people particularly given what is happening in Israel-Gaza now, is horrendous. It doesn’t need context. It’s an outrageous symbol to use on a protest, and we’ve got to bear down hard on those that have used it.
“Of course the man should have been arrested, but it does seem to me that the officer should have known this isn’t about context. It’s about vile anti-Semitism on the streets of London making people feel unsafe. It’s a hate symbol and it’s got to be treated as such.”
The woman at the centre of the exchange with the officer has condemned Scotland Yard’s approach to the policing of the protests .
Jocelin Weiss, who was filmed arguing with a police officer during the most recent pro-Palestinian march, said British Jews should not have to accept feeling unsafe in their own country.
She told Jonathan Sacerdoti, the broadcaster, in an interview online: “Everyone is seeing this, everyone all around the world. People in Israel are seeing this, Jews in New York are seeing this, in California, all over the world they are watching London specifically and the lack of policing and really that is kind of the difference.
“I don’t think that London is necessarily a more anti-Semitic environment than anywhere else , it is just the lack of policing that makes it so much worse.
“British Jews do not have to accept this – no one has to accept this. Swastikas are bad, OK? They don’t need context.”
Ms Weiss clashed with the officer on Saturday after complaining that pro-Palestinian marchers were carrying placards with swastikas and should be arrested.
During a lengthy exchange, the officer was heard telling her that swastikas needed to be taken in context. The comments have drawn criticism from Jewish groups.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “This clip is a short excerpt of what was a 10-minute conversation with an officer. During the full conversation, the officer establishes that the person the woman was concerned about had already been arrested for a public order offence in relation to a placard.
“The officer then offered to arrange for other officers to attend and accompany the woman to identify any other persons she was concerned about amongst the protesters, but after turning to speak to his supervisor, she had unfortunately left.”
Ms Weiss has denied leaving the area, insisting she was there for 20 minutes after the exchange with the officer.
