Information on Southern Caribbean Cruise Cancellation
We were all supposed to be enjoying a beautiful day at sea today! But hopefully you’re all staying safe through this extraordinary time.
Thank you for your patience in waiting for resolution on your canceled Southern Caribbean Cruise. As you know, the past 10 days have been extremely difficult for everyone and we’ve been working hard to come up with the best possible options for you. We’ve had some technical challenges in the past few days (my home internet was literally non-functional Thursday), but we finally have a full response from our partners and a plan to take care of all of you. I truly appreciate your patience as this is far more complicated than we ever anticipated. In 29 years we’ve never had a canceled program and now we’re dealing with three of them at the same time.
All guests booked on Summit will receive a Future Vacation Credit (FVC) to come back on any Atlantis or RSVP vacation through December 31, 2021. We want to make it worth your while to come back so your FVC is worth substantially more than what you paid for this cruise, depending on how you decide to use it. We’re offering substantial increased value of your credit for bookings on the following upcoming vacations:
150% of value for any 2020 Cruise or Resort Vacation 125% of value for any Cruise sailing on Celebrity in 2021 115% of value for any other 2021 Atlantis or RSVP Vacation
The amount of your credit is based on the cruise fare paid multiplied by the above, plus a credit of 100% of paid taxes and gratuities.
We will send an email certificate to you early next week with the specific dollar values calculated on it.
As for using your credit, we have a plenty of options and more in the pipeline. Here’s a preview, even though some of this is not on our website yet. In 2021, Atlantis will celebrate 30 years with you and we’re planning some really spectacular experiences, with more to be added soon.
2020 Cruises and Resorts
Amsterdam to Barcelona Cruise | July 12-22, 2020 | Norwegian Jade Rome, Greek Isles, & Venice Cruise | August 8-17, 2020 | Celebrity Constellation Club Atlantis Caribbean | October 31 – November 7, 2020 | Club Med Punta Cana
New 2021 Cruises – Available Very Soon
30th Anniversary Caribbean Cruise | January 17-24, 2021 | Allure of the Seas from Miami Atlantis All-Stars Caribbean Cruise | February 27 – March 6, 2021 | Celebrity APEX from Ft Lauderdale RSVP Southern Caribbean Cruise | March 6 – 15, 2021 | Celebrity Infinity from Miami 30th Anniversary Med Cruise | August 2021 | Rome to Greek Isles & Turkey! Odyssey of the Seas
We are also working to add a new cruise on Virgin Voyages but won’t have details on this until next week.
The new RSVP Southern Caribbean cruise is very similar to your Summit itinerary, with the added bonus of sailing from Florida! We’ll visit both Aruba & Curacao along with a day at the private island of Labadee and an overnight in San Juan. We’ll have full details on that cruise next week, but it’s the closest experience to what you booked this year, and we’re doing some amazing things with the RSVP entertainment and programming in 2021.
We know you have a lot of questions on this credit and process and have created a web page with full details about how to use them: https://atlantisevents.com/futurecredit
If you prefer to forgo this credit and take the lower value of a full refund, we’re happy to process that for you. Given how fluid things are today and the extra credits being offered, we wanted to give you plenty of time to make up your mind. You have until December 31, 2021 to request a refund, so even if you don’t take a trip before that you can still get the refund later. In this uncertain time, we certainly think it’s worth waiting a bit in order to keep your options open.
To request a de-activation of your Future Vacation Credit and process a refund to your original form of payment, please click here and we’ll get the process started for you.
We will process refunds as fast as possible and realize that many of you need the funds quickly. The form has a place to request priority for those in more imminent need and we ask that you respect this so we can help those who need it most. Otherwise, we will process refunds in order of the original booking date. That’s the most fair system for all.
We are operating on a very limited staff at this time and each refund takes time to research and process. For that reason, we are only accepting refund requests using the online form as it gives us a clear audit trail.
Once again, thank you for your patience in waiting for this information. Our success depends on your support and we hope that this offer inspires you to join us again this year or next.
Please stay safe, stay at home, and know that soon we’ll be sailing again with you. We truly miss seeing you at sea this week and have many great things planned for the future!
Finally, please note that we still do not have a working inbound phone system due to the CA mandated business shutdown. We are working on a solution and will hopefully have some type of phone operations available early next week.
Thank you again for your support and understanding.
Sincerely, Rich Campbell President

Can a Gay Cruise Keep 4,700 People Safe Amid Covid?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned Americans to avoid travel on cruise ships. But the tour operator insists that its health protocols are safe enough.

By Ceylan Yeginsu
As the Omicron variant of the coronavirus continues to surge onboard cruise ships, forcing several cruise lines to cancel and postpone voyages, Atlantis Events, a gay and lesbian tour operator, is preparing to launch one of its biggest events on Sunday: a 4,700-person Caribbean cruise marking the company’s 30th anniversary.
Even as the pandemic is raging around the world and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a stark warning telling Americans to avoid travel on cruise ships, regardless of their vaccination status, Atlantis insists that its vaccination mandate, testing requirements and health protocols are enough to provide a safe environment for guests throughout the voyage. Many passengers are convinced.
“It’s time to start living our lives again and vaccines and tests allow us to do that. This isn’t Covid 2020,” said Andre Mayer, a graphic designer from Germany who paid more than $4,000 for the weeklong cruise on board Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. “This is going to be the wildest party for our community in two years. I’m talking dirty dancing, sex, drugs, raves, orgies and sweet, sweet freedom.”
For the hundreds of cruise passengers who contracted the coronavirus on board other ships in recent weeks, many falling ill and spending days in quarantine, their experience couldn’t have been further from the carefree vacation that Mr. Mayer anticipates. After testing positive, many hoped to isolate in their airy rooms with balconies, but were transferred to basic quarantine facilities — some of them without windows — and served food that they described as cold and hideous.
For some booked on the anniversary cruise and other Atlantis events, these reports and the Omicron wave of the virus is causing them to reconsider their plans. But the company’s strict cancellation policy does not offer refunds for changes made within 60 days of departure, forcing guests to weigh health risks against losing thousands of dollars.
“The Covid reality changes so quickly that there needs to be more flexibility,” said Aiden Morgan, a 44-year-old dance teacher from Boston. Mr. Morgan sold his ticket for the Atlantis Tropical Americas Cruise later this month on Facebook, but was only offered $1,480 for his $3,800 ticket.
“I’m getting a lot of pressure from my friends to go and believe me, I really want to go and get it on, but it just seems crazy to me to risk getting sick and being trapped on a boat,” Mr. Morgan said. “Some nights I lose sleep and get the sweats just thinking about being in a cold room all alone with Covid.”
Rich Campbell, chief executive officer of Atlantis Events, said that his events company was not able to offer the same flexibility as billion-dollar cruise lines, which have many fleets and sailings to transfer bookings, and the financial resources to offer refunds.
“In order to exist we take massive risks to operate these charters,” Mr. Campbell said. “We signed a contract with the cruise line that cannot be changed or canceled. If I told Royal Caribbean that I was canceling the cruise tomorrow, they would come back and say ‘great but you still owe us the money.’ ”
Out of the 2,700 rooms sold, Mr. Campbell said only 35 have been canceled since Jan. 1.
For guests who cannot travel because of government restrictions or lockdowns, Atlantis is showing more flexibility and issuing credits for future cruises, Mr. Campbell said. Because of the fast-changing circumstances of the pandemic, he said, the company is approaching cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis and trying to accommodate as many people as possible.
“We are here to take care of people and we are doing our best,” he said. “But if someone comes to us and just says they want their money back, because they don’t feel comfortable going on the cruise, then we recommend that they take out ‘cancel for any reason’ travel insurance.”
Since restarting operations in the United States in June, many cruise lines and tour operators have adopted flexible cancellation policies, offering credit or refunds to customers who want to make itinerary changes because of the coronavirus.
Before the pandemic, Atlantic Events hosted more than 25,000 guests each year, organizing specialty gay and lesbian events on cruise ships and resorts around the world. Last year it was forced to cancel or postpone several events, including its 30th anniversary cruise.
“We had almost two years with no income, and we are a tiny self-financed company. It was a huge challenge to survive,” Mr. Campbell said.
While the company does not offer refunds, it says that the health and safety of its guests is a top priority and it will be enforcing Royal Caribbean’s health and safety protocols, which includes a mask mandate indoors except while eating and drinking and in crowded spaces outdoors. Royal Caribbean officials say that while the Omicron variant has driven up cases on board its ships in recent weeks, most infections have been mild and have not resulted in severe illness. Still, with a growing number of crew members and passengers contracting the virus, the cruise line, like other cruise companies, has canceled several voyages this month in what it said was “an abundance of caution” as a result of “ongoing Covid-related circumstances.”
Passengers booked on the Atlantis cruise are closely watching the Celebrity Millennium cruise ship, which was chartered by another L.G.B.T travel company this week for a seven-night Caribbean cruise. The capacity for that ship is much smaller, at 2,218 passengers, but coronavirus cases have been reported to the C.D.C. and reached their threshold for an investigation.
Andrew Dubry is a model and entrepreneur from Arizona who has been on several Atlantis cruises. Though a fan of their events, he called on the company, using Facebook , to cancel the cruise and reschedule for a later date. “So many people feel forced to go because they can’t get their money back, it’s not right,” Mr. Dubry said. “Maybe they are worried that it will be empty if they give people the option to cancel, but it’s their 30th anniversary. I don’t see why they don’t just reschedule and make it the big fun party at a better time.”
Ron Davis, a 50-year-old talent manager from Nashville who will be embarking on his 26th Atlantis cruise on Sunday, said the calls to cancel the cruise are overblown and exacerbated by the stigma against gay cruises that presumes they are all drug-fueled sex parties with no limits.
“The cruise is whatever you make of it and there is something for everyone,” Mr. Davis said. “I have never been part of an orgy, I have never done cocaine off a stair rail. Sure, if you want that you can find it, but it’s not all people having rampant sex out in the open.”
For Mr. Davis, the upcoming cruise does not feel any more dangerous than taking a flight, or going for happy hour at his local bar where customers are not tested beforehand.
“I don’t think I’m bulletproof, but I’m doubled vaxxed and boosted and I’m careful,” he said.
Mr. Campbell, the Atlantis chief executive, says that while the 30th anniversary cruise will be a big event for the company, it will be more restricted compared to previous years.
“There will be safety protocols and walls and barriers and things in place designed to do the opposite of the business we’re in, which is to bring people together,” he said.
Still, for many guests, this will be their first big outing since pandemic restrictions were imposed in 2020. Some passengers expect that people who have been cooped up at home will try to make up for lost time.
“So many people have been starved of company and human touch,” said Costas Raptis, 41, a banker from Greece who sold his ticket online because of fears that he will have to quarantine if he catches the virus. “Everyone will party hard and hook up and trust me: If they get a few little Covid symptoms, they are not going to tell nobody.”

An earlier version of this article, using information provided by the Atlantis Events travel company, misstated the number of passengers on its 30th anniversary cruise. The number is 4,700, not 5,500. It also misstated the cruise on which one traveler canceled his booking. Aiden Morgan was to sail on the Atlantis Tropical Americas Cruise later this month, not the 30th anniversary cruise.

Death Confirmed Onboard Atlantis Events' Oasis of the Seas Gay Cruise
The much-criticized trip is the company's 30th-year celebration.
A death has been confirmed aboard Atlantis Events' 30th Anniversary Cruise on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas.
The Advocate has confirmed the death with Atlantis Events. While a representative said the death was "nothing out of the ordinary," they referred The Advocate to Royal Caribbean for comment on cause of death.
Last week, Atlantis Events set sail with a reported 4,700 travelers on the Oasis of the Seas. The trip was in part to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary. Given the ongoing global pandemic, a much-discussed New York Times article questioned whether the ship could keep its occupants safe. Organizers vowed to implement various social distancing methods but still sold the ship at almost full capacity.
During the cruise, multiple images have circulated on social media that show few to no signs of distancing.
Thursday night, Chris Wiggins, a freelance journalist who has written for USA Today, tweeted that he had confirmed a death of "at least one person" on the ship. He wrote that the cause of death is currently unclear. He said he confirmed this information with sources onboard the ship.
“Breaking: Confirmed that at least one person on the Atlantis Gay Cruise on the Oasis of the Seas, dubbed the Omicron of the Seas, has died.

Cause of death is unclear.

(This isn’t a covid-related joke)” — Christopher Wiggins (@Christopher Wiggins) 1642530071
A mostly anonymous commenter wrote in response to his tweet that the death was from a "legit (non-drug related) medical issue."
This was not the first death of an Atlantis Events cruise. In January 2020 a technical crew member went overboard, and in January 2018 reality star Joel Taylor died of a suspected overdose. Cruise Law News, a blog that covers the cruise industry, reports at least five deaths in the past decade on Atlantis Events charters.

Atlantis Day Passes - Cruise Cancelled
By dsnutz , March 18, 2020 in Bahamas
Recommended Posts
We were scheduled on Sunshine to Nassau April 6 and bought day passes to use that obviously we won’t be able to use. I sent an email to the resort from the email confirmation (yeah shoulda booked through the ship, I know). Haven’t heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced this lately with the current cruise ban?

I guess like everyone in the travel industry, they’re swamped with email/calls. Called their 800# and got through to a very compassionate and friendly agent. Passes cancelled and balance refunded. Now if we could all get back to “normal” and start cruising again, that’d be nice

My May cruise was cancelled and I cancelled my independently booked cabana and Aquaventure Day pass. I was told would receive refund, since Nassau was closed due to CoVID. On Apr 30th, I received email confirmation of cancellation, with notice to allow 60-90 days for refund. Haven't seen it come through yet, but they still have almost a week to hit 90 days.
Has anyone actually received a refund?
- 3 months later...
Just as a follow-up. We FINALLY received our reimbursement for our cabana and Aquaventure Day passes that we purchased through the resort. Restores my faith in them! Longer than 90 days, but at least it did come through!

New Travel Alert Issued by State Department for Visitors to The Bahamas
Andrea Santillan
- January 29, 2024
As of January 2024, The Bahamas—a hotspot for cruise lines—has already recorded a startling 18 murders.
This alarming spike in crime rates has prompted the U.S. Department of State to issue urgent travel warnings , advising tourists to exercise increased caution in this popular destination.
The government agency explained the homicides as “gang-on-gang violence” that primarily affects residents. Most crimes occur in Nassau’s New Providence area and Freeport’s Grand Bahama islands.
The US embassy’s memo states that even the Bahamas’ more touristy areas aren’t safe from armed robberies, burglaries, and sexual assaults.
Crimes have also been known to happen at all times of the day. It reads, “Murders have occurred at all hours, including in broad daylight on the streets. Retaliatory gang violence has been the primary motive in 2024 murders.”
This travel alert follows one issued for Jamaica in mid-January.
Traveling to The Bahamas? Here’s what is recommended
- When visiting Nassau and Freeport, keep a low profile and be extra cautious, especially at night.
- Remain vigilant of your surroundings.
- Should you become a victim of a robbery, do not resist.
- Plan for contingencies and emergencies.

The January 26 memo also reminded tourists to be careful when engaging in activities that require commercial, recreational watercraft, including water tours. Operators may not have the proper safety certifications and use poorly maintained equipment.
Last year, an excursion boat to Blue Lagoon Island capsized in Nassau, Bahamas. Immediately following the incident, cruise lines paused tours to the island.
Amid crime, island tourism is skyrocketing
Despite the troubling news and higher visitor taxes, tourism in the Bahamas is flourishing. Last year, the industry was anticipating up to 8 million tourists . Nearly 80%, or 6.4 million, are from visiting cruise ships.

Anthem 3/31 - Atlantis Aquadventure Mass Cancelled
By Brianweb , February 23, 2018 in Royal Caribbean International

Just got notified that my Atlantis Aquadventure excursion was cancelled due to operational issued. But there is still one with the same name in the cruise planner. I called Royal and they were not helpful, said it was up to me to read the description and decide if it is the same? What the heck is going on?

I also got notified and have been on 2 phone calls this morning regarding situation. Apparently, it was due to a change in their 3rd party for this excursion, which i find as not my concern, but thats neither here or there. I now if i want to rebook have to pay an additional $80 for my party of 4, cause i was at the time able to book during the promo discounted time period. So much for being proactive.

Yeah seems like other people have reported Royal doing this on other excursions as well.
Seems wrong if the tour is still posted in the cruise planner. Escalate the issue and see type of answer you get (I know it's super annoying).

I just finished my phone call with RCL and it worked out in my favor as the total cost to re-book increased $10 for my party of 4, re-booked and was given $25 OBC. Net Net $15 savings.
I hope i dont get any cancellations email on the Disney transportation.
I hope i dont get any cancellations email on the Disney transportation.
Don't know when you are sailing, but FWIW, we used RCI's transport to Disney a week ago, no problems. I believe they have "fixed" the provider issue they were having late last year.
Good luck, and enjoy your cruise!

They cancelled some people on our 4/14 cruise as well. They actually cancelled the more expensive one that included access to the casino.
???Anyone can go to the casino. Why would you need a more expensive excursion to go to the casino?
- 2 weeks later...
Just wanted to post an FYI update on price change on the Atlantis Aquaventure for those on specifically 3/31 Anthem sailing.
On the day I received RCL cancellation of Aquaventure, I was able to re-booked at $149 / $99 rate. Today, I noticed on cruise planner that the rate is now $119 / 79. I again, cancelled and re-booked at lower rate. Also, the Disney Transportation decreased a couple of $$. I have experienced price changes on the daily & weekly, so if you want to save some $$...

Can a cruise event actually manage to keep 4,700 people safe amid Covid?
Follow Us :
As the Omicron variant of the coronavirus continues to surge onboard cruise ships, forcing several cruise lines to cancel and postpone voyages, Atlantis Events, a gay and lesbian tour operator, is preparing to launch one of its biggest events Sunday: a 4,700-person Caribbean cruise marking the company’s 30th anniversary.
“It’s time to start living our lives again, and vaccines and tests allow us to do that.
For the hundreds of cruise passengers who contracted the coronavirus on board other ships in recent weeks, many falling ill and spending days in quarantine, their experience couldn’t have been further from the carefree vacation that Mayer anticipates. After testing positive, many hoped to isolate in their airy rooms with balconies but were transferred to basic quarantine facilities — some of them without windows — and served food that they described as cold and hideous.

For some booked on the anniversary cruise and other Atlantis events, these reports and the omicron wave of the virus are causing them to reconsider their plans.
Morgan sold his ticket for the Atlantis Tropical Americas Cruise later this month on Facebook but was only offered $1,480 for his $3,800 ticket.
“I’m getting a lot of pressure from my friends to go, and believe me, I really want to go and get it on, but it just seems crazy to me to risk getting sick and being trapped on a boat,” Morgan said. “Some nights I lose sleep and get the sweats just thinking about being in a cold room all alone with Covid.”
Rich Campbell, CEO of Atlantis Events, said that his events company was not able to offer the same flexibility as billion-dollar cruise lines, which have many fleets and sailings to transfer bookings, and the financial resources to offer refunds.
“In order to exist we take massive risks to operate these charters,” Campbell said. “We signed a contract with the cruise line that cannot be changed or canceled. If I told Royal Caribbean that I was cancelling the cruise tomorrow, they would come back and say ‘Great but you still owe us the money.’ ”
Out of the 2,700 rooms sold, Campbell said only 35 have been cancelled since Jan. 1.
For guests who cannot travel because of government restrictions or lockdowns, Atlantis is showing more flexibility and issuing credits for future cruises, Campbell said. Because of the fast-changing circumstances of the pandemic, he said, the company is approaching cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis and trying to accommodate as many people as possible.
“We are here to take care of people, and we are doing our best,” he said.
Before the pandemic, Atlantic Events hosted more than 25,000 guests each year, organising specialty gay and lesbian events on cruise ships and resorts around the world. Last year it was forced to cancel or postpone several events, including its 30th anniversary cruise.
“We had almost two years with no income, and we are a tiny, self-financed company. It was a huge challenge to survive,” Campbell said.
While the company does not offer refunds, it says that the health and safety of its guests is a top priority, and it will be enforcing Royal Caribbean’s health and safety protocols, which includes a mask mandate indoors except while eating and drinking and in crowded spaces outdoors. Royal Caribbean officials say that while the omicron variant has driven up cases on board its ships in recent weeks, most infections have been mild and have not resulted in severe illness. Still, with a growing number of crew members and passengers contracting the virus, the cruise line, like other cruise companies, has cancelled several voyages this month in what it said was “an abundance of caution” as a result of “ongoing Covid-related circumstances.”
Passengers booked on the Atlantis cruise are closely watching the Celebrity Millennium cruise ship, which was chartered by another LGBT travel company this past week for a seven-night Caribbean cruise. The capacity for that ship is much smaller, at 2,218 passengers, but coronavirus cases have been reported to the CDC and reached their threshold for an investigation.
Andrew Dubry is a model and entrepreneur from Arizona who has been on several Atlantis cruises. Though a fan of its events, he called on the company, using Facebook, to cancel the cruise and reschedule for a later date. “So many people feel forced to go because they can’t get their money back, it’s not right,” Dubry said. “Maybe they are worried that it will be empty if they give people the option to cancel, but it’s their 30th anniversary. I don’t see why they don’t just reschedule and make it the big fun party at a better time.”
Ron Davis, a 50-year-old talent manager from Nashville, Tennessee, who will be embarking on his 26th Atlantis cruise Sunday, said the calls to cancel the cruise are overblown and exacerbated by the stigma against gay cruises that presumes they are all drug-fueled sex parties with no limits.
“The cruise is whatever you make of it, and there is something for everyone,” Davis said. “I have never been part of an orgy; I have never done cocaine off a stair rail. Sure, if you want that you can find it, but it’s not all people having rampant sex out in the open.”
For Davis, the upcoming cruise does not feel any more dangerous than taking a flight or going for happy hour at his local bar where customers are not tested beforehand.
“I don’t think I’m bulletproof, but I’m doubled-vaxxed and boosted, and I’m careful,” he said.
Campbell, the Atlantis CEO, says that while the 30th anniversary cruise will be a big event for the company, it will be more restricted compared to previous years.

Cruise to nowhere: Carnival cruise cancels only port due to post-tropical cyclone Francine
A Carnival Cruise Line sailing has canceled its only port, making the voyage a cruise to nowhere due to post-tropical cyclone Francine.
“Carnival Valor will return to New Orleans on Friday, Sept. 13,” Carnival told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “The ship's next voyage will be shortened by one day and will not be able to visit Cozumel.”
The four-day Western Caribbean cruise, originally scheduled to depart Thursday, was pushed back after Carnival Valor's previous sailing was delayed returning to the Port of New Orleans. The port closed due to the storm but had reopened as of Friday.
A portion of guests’ cruise fare will be refunded for the day missed, along with costs like Wi-Fi or beverage packages purchased for that day. Guests will also receive a $100 onboard credit, a 50% future cruise credit and compensation for associated expenses like flight change fees.
Was your cruise itinerary changed?: Here's what to do next
Francine made landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday as a Category 2 hurricane before being downgraded. The storm is projected to dissipate on Friday, but parts of the Tennessee Valley and Southeast will face the risk of flooding through Saturday.
It's not unheard of for cruise lines to change itineraries and inadvertently create cruises with no port calls. In April Royal Caribbean International Alaska voyage became a cruise to nowhere when the cruise line canceled a sailing after guests had already boarded due to a technical issue with the vessel.

Royal Caribbean Cancels Bookings Due to Lifeboat Damage
- September 13, 2024
Royal Caribbean International is cancelling bookings for the upcoming cruise of the Rhapsody of the Seas due to damage to one of the vessel’s lifeboats.
According to a statement sent to guests, the issue is lowering the ship’s lifesaving capacity, which has led to the cancellations.
Sailing in the Southern Caribbean , the Rhapsody of the Seas is scheduled to depart from Puerto Rico for its next cruise on Sep. 15, 2024.
“On our previous sailing, there was damage to one of our tender boats, which also serves as a lifeboat,” Royal Caribbean said in the letter.
“This leaves the ship over capacity for the number of available lifeboat seats in the event of an emergency in our next sailing,” the company added, noting that it’s necessary to have a seat on a lifeboat for every guest onboard.
“Unfortunately, this means we’ll be unable to welcome you onboard,” Royal Caribbean said.
The company explained that affected guests will receive a full refund of the fare paid for the cancelled booking, as well as a credit for a new cruise.
“We know this is disappointing news and we’re terribly sorry for the impact on your vacation plans,” Royal Caribbean added.
The Future Cruise Credit (FCC) will be equivalent to 100 percent of the amount paid for the original cruise and must be redeemed by Sep. 13, 2025.
Royal Caribbean also promised to reimburse non-refundable, pre-purchased transportation fees incurred due to the cancellation, such as flight, train tickets, and/or rental car.
Passengers are asked to present receipts to be able to receive up to $200 per guest for domestic changes or $400 per guest for international changes.
The Rhapsody of the Seas is set to offer a seven-night cruise to Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, St. Lucia and Barbados.

Carnival Vista cruise canceled: What to know about the ship's repairs, when it will sail
Passengers who sailed on a Carnival Vista ship last month and are waiting to get a refund because the sailing itinerary changed – stop waiting.
There’s no refund coming.
Once guests were on board the Carnival Vista on Aug. 10 , they were informed the ship’s cruising speed was limited due to a technical issue. Crew members informed passengers if they disembarked before the ship left port, they would get a full refund.
“The vast majority did (stay onboard),” said Matt Lupoli, Carnival's senior manager of public relations.
What options were Carnival Vista passengers given?
The ship was originally schedule for an 8-night southern Caribbean cruise with stops in places like Aruba, Curacao and Turks and Cacaos.
Instead, it headed to the Bahamas visiting Nassau, Princess Cays and Freeport.
Passengers were given two options:
Option 1: Disembark and get a full refund
Options 2: Remain on the cruise and get an undisclosed amount of onboard credit as well as credit for a future cruise.
Some passengers who remained on the cruise are saying they deserve a refund to make up for the difference in the cost of the cruise they purchased and the cruise the got. Carnival officials said that’s what the credits are for.
The guests were given an option to either sale with the credits or get a refund. Those who sailed with the credits are not eligible for a refund.
When will Carnival Vista sail again from Port Canaveral?
Engineers continue working on the ship and it’s expected to be repaired in time for a sailing scheduled to leave Sunday.
The Sept. 15 itinerary includes Half Moon Cay, Bahamas as well as Grand Turk and Amber Cove before returning to Port Canaveral on Sept. 21.
An eight-night southern Caribbean cruise that was supposed to leave Port Canaveral on Sept. 7 was canceled. The thousands of affected passengers received a refund, plus a future cruise credit.
The Carnival Vista has a double-occupancy capacity of 3,934 passengers; a full capacity of 4,977 passengers; and a crew of 1,450. It began sailing in 2016.
How common is it for Carnaval cruise ships to have technical issues with cruising speed?
Although this is not a common issue, it has happened before.
The last time was on the California-based Carnival Panorama in November 2023. That ship was out of commission for multiple sailings.
Spitzer is a Trending Reporter. She can be reached at [email protected].

Atlantis: Cancelled, No Season Three for BBC TV Show
by Trevor Kimball, January 26, 2015
On Atlantis , a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.
What do you think? Do you like the Atlantis TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Please don’t cancel, one of the best shows I have watched. BRING IT BACK!!!
Great storytelling, flow, and incorporation of Greek mythology. I was really enjoying this series, only for it to be canceled after the build up to the Argonauts? This show seemed to be on track for being one of the networks best shows, and had a lot of potential. So why would you cancel it? I’d fire whatever advisors gave you that advice. They seem to be idiots.
I really enjoyed the series and upset to not know how it’s going to end. . . Sadness. . . .
Why do they always cancel the best shows? It is still not too late! Bring it back! You have a built-in loyal audience! But only if you use the same actors!
Incredible cinematography and saga of epic proportion! Atlantis is a rare gem. Network made mistake in choosing something else!
If u need any new ideas for a season 3 episode I will be more happy to help..I love the show just absolutely love it..bring Jason and ariadne back so they can finally kill that ***** queen please let me be in Atlantis
show was great but come on you cancel that’s so wrong on every level, wont find out the ending
What a pity that they couldn’t shoot the season 3 because i really enjoyed the first two seasons
Yes, of course the series should continue. Enjoyable to watch and enjoyed the storyline very much.
