How to fast travel in v rising.

The open world of V Rising is quite vast, which can make traveling quite tiresome. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to fast travel across the map.

Traveling is a prominent activity that will take up a substantial chunk of one's time in  V Rising , and fast travel is an available mechanic that help can speed up this often wearisome process. The world offers fast travel via two primary methods: Waygates and Caves. Waygates involve a network of portal-like structures that can teleport a vampire from one location to another. The player will first need to locate a Waygate  portal in this open-world survival  to activate it. In other words, it is impossible to fast travel to a Waygate in an undiscovered spot on the map.

However, a significant drawback of using a Waygate in  V Rising  is that it does not allow the possession of resources or loot. Vampires will need to store their unequipped belongings in a safe spot before fast traveling, or they must drop everything they have to activate the portal. This mechanic works somewhat similarly to the Portals in  Valheim , except the vampire is not only restricted to metallic resources but also every item in their inventory. Therefore, those who wish to keep their haul will need to complete the journey on foot or horse.

Alternatively, adventurers can take advantage of the Cave Passage system for their  fast traveling indie survival needs  in  V Rising . Caves function like Waygates; however, their underground tunnels are only one-way. This limitation is because the exit area of every passage is located atop an inaccessible ledge. Once players drop below, they cannot return to the Cave Passage unless they go all the way back to the initial entrance. Moreover, there are notably fewer Caves than Waygates in  V Rising .

Ways To Fast Travel In V Rising

From a glance, Cave Passages might seem like a "scuffed" method of fast travel in  V Rising , yet this is far from the case. Fast travel via Caves allows players to take all their belongings with them from Point A to B. Therefore, Cave tunnels can be considered to be the superior form of teleportation, excluding their one-way nature and lack of availability on the  open-world survival indie map .

It should be mentioned that Waygates can be constructed from the Build menu in  V Rising , granting players the freedom to place a fast travel point wherever they wish. Still, this building privilege doesn't come until later during one's playthrough, specifically after they've defeated Polara The Feywalker in the Gleaming Meadows of Farbane Woods. Once this feat has been carried out, the Vampire Waygate will be unlocked, and fans can craft the structure using the following materials:

• Blood Essence ×200
• Copper Ingot ×20
• Gem Dust ×10

One of the key features of vampires, at least in their original depiction, is their ability to take the form of a bat to quickly traverse the night. In V Rising, you technically can shapeshift but it won’t make a big impact on your ability to travel. You have all the normal weaknesses of the mythical creature, such as aversion to sunlight and the need to suck blood in order to survive, but you must stick to normal methods of transportation most of the time. Getting on a horse certainly speeds up your traversal, but the map is quite large and sometimes you just want to get from one side to the other quickly.

Fast travel appears in V Rising in two different ways: Waygates and Cave Passages. Both of these have their own benefits, drawbacks, and ways to unlock them. However, as you grow in power, you will need to visit the far-reaching areas of the world much faster and much more often, making fast travel invaluable. Here’s how both methods of fast travel work in V Rising and where you can find them.

Waygates are the most traditional fast-travel method in V Rising . You will come across them naturally as structures on the map, indicated by a gate with a swirling icon on your map. Once you get close enough to one to ping it on your map, you will see its name and it will remain there permanently. By interacting with a Waygate, you can select any other that you’ve already found to instantly transport yourself to that location. Sounds good, right? Well, there are a few catches.

The first is obvious — in order to use it you need to find any Waygate you want to use and travel to it, but there aren’t a ton in each area. There’s almost always one close to any point of interest you are likely to want to visit, but you will still be hoofing it a bit. The second drawback is the big one. You are unable to go through any Waygate so long as you have anything on your character besides your equipment or consumables. That means you can’t quickly transport crafting resources like wood, fibre, stones, or anything else you’ve been collecting. If you’re going out to scavenge for resources like this, a Waygate can get you to a spot to collect, but you’re on your own getting back to your castle.

One advantage to Waygates is that you can actually create your own. Once you’ve beaten the boss named Polora the Feywalker in the Gleaming Meadows, you will get the blueprint to craft your own Waygates and place them in more convenient locations. To build one, you will need:

• 10 Gem Dust
• 20 Copper Ingots
• 200 Blood Essence

Waygates that you build can also only be used by you, so if you’re on a PvP server, don’t worry about an enemy player warping right next to your base if you place one there.

All Waygate locations

There are 10 default Waygates to find in V Rising , though you can of course build more. The standard ones are located in the following places marked by the swirling icons on the map above:

• There are four Waygates in the Farbane Woods, located on the bottom section of the map. The downside is that they are all essentially on the far corners of the region, making them not super useful for getting around the interior of the zone itself.
• Up in the middle area, Dunley Farmlands, are another four Waygates. Three of them are almost in a line along the southern portion, with only one up near the middle, again not offering a ton of utility for the zone as a whole.
• In Silverlight Hills, you’re stuck with the single Waygate by default. If you intend on spending a lot of time in this area, you’ll need to make more gates yourself to avoid long, dangerous treks.
• The last solo Waygate is up in the Cursed Forest, and is right near the entrance to the zone. The same thing could be said here as with the Silverlight Hills Waygate, though this initial fast-travel point is a bit more useful.

Cave Passages are the alternative form of fast travel at your disposal in V Rising . Think of these as one-way fast-travel points. Each one you enter can only move you directly to a predetermined exit, making them less versatile than Waygates. You can spot these caves as glowing red cracks in the landscape, and can use them even without discovering the exit.

The downsides of Cave Passages are in their strict limitations, but the benefit is that you can freely take them holding resources. To make the most out of them, you can try to build your castle close to the entrance, or exit, of one of them to more easily transport goods.

All Cave Passage locations

By comparison, there are only four Cave Passages to the 10 Waygates in V Rising — four entrances and four exits. Since you can only go into the entrance points, unless you immediately turn around after exciting one, we’ll just tell you where the entrances are and where they dump you out. Again, reference the map above and look for the gray crystal icons to spot the Cave Passages.

• The Cursed Forest has two entrances. The one to the far north, directly above the Waygate, takes you all the way down to the far southwest point in the Farbane Woods. The other, more to the east, shoots you over to the northwest area of the Dunley Farmlands.
• From the center Cave Passage in the Dunley Farmlands you can zip straight down to the middle of the Farbane Woods.
• Lastly, the single Cave Passage in Silverlight Hills will spit you out on the far east coast of Farbane Woods.

How to Fast Travel in V Rising

There are two ways to fast travel in the game, each with its own set of pros and cons. You can either use Vampire Waygates or Cave Passages to quickly move across the map in V Rising.

Vampire Waygates Vampire Waygates offer the traditional kind of fast traveling. You can move back and forth between different Waygates that you have discovered through exploration. However, they have one major drawback.

You can’t use Vampire Waygates if you have resources or loot in your inventory. You’ll need to empty your inventory in order to use a Waygate or else choose to walk to your preferred destination.

Cave Passages In contrast to Vampire Gateways, Cave Passages only offer a one-way trip. You can’t choose your preferred destination as each Cave Passage fast travels to a single, predetermined location. The exit location is always on top of a cliff that cannot be reached by any means. Hence, once you reach your destination, you can’t use the same Cave Passage to return.

That being said, in some cases, staying on the edge of the Cave Passage outlet will allow you to fast travel back to the mouth of the cave from where you started.

Cave Passages compensate for this by giving you the ability to transport supplies.

Your fast traveling will hence depend on your requirement. V Rising normally has Cave Passages close to farming locations, meaning that you’ll likely be using that to transport your loot or materials. You’ll need to plan your trips accordingly.

Teleport Locations

The Vampire Waygates and Cave Passages are simply teleporting tools that you can use to fast travel in V Rising. While riding your horse will reduce your traveling time, getting to a far-off location within a second is obviously very useful.

Below are all of the Vampire Waygates in V Rising:

• Farbane Woods Vampire Waygates
• Dunley Farmland Vampire Waygates
• Silverlight Hills Vampire Waygates
• Cursed Forest Vampire Waygates

There are also four Cave Passages that are mentioned in the later section of the guide.

How to Use Vampire Waygates to Fast Travel

Vampire Waygates are marked on the map by green portal-like icons. They, however, only show up once you have discovered them.

When you come across a Vampire Waygate, hit the interaction button to open a prompt that asks you to choose your destination Vampire Gateway. Remember that you can only fast travel between Waygates that you have already discovered.

You will eventually be able to create a Vampire Gateway at your Castle as you progress. Remember that a Vampire Gateway can only be used by the player who built it.

How to Build Vampire Waygates

You will unlock the ability to build a Vampire Waygate by defeating Polora the Feywalker , a level 34 boss. She will drop the crafting recipe for Vampire Gateway as well as Garden Floors, and Potion with Low Garlic Resistance.

When you finally have the recipe; gather x200 Blood Essence, x20 Plank, x20 Copper Ingot , and x10 Gem Dust to build a Vampire Gateway.

Vampire Waygates Locations Map

There are a total of 10 Vampire Gateways to discover and use in V Rising.

Farbane Woods Vampire Waygates The Farbane Woods zone has four total Vampire Waygates. However, these Waygates are scattered throughout the region’s fringes, so if you wish to expand towards the center, you’ll have to depend on Cave Passages for fast traveling.

Dunley Farmland Vampire Waygates The Dunley Farmlands zone has four Vampire Waygates. Since many of the Waygates are in the southern part of the territory, you’ll have to depend on two Cave Passages in the northwestern part of the territory for your fast travel needs if you want to construct deeper north.

Silverlight Hills Vampire Waygates Sadly, there is only one Vampire Waygate in the Silverlight Hills region that is situated on the northeastern side of the region. While there is a Cave Passage south of the Waygate, players may find that getting quickly across the Silverlight Hills area is difficult.

Cursed Forest Vampire Waygates The Cursed Forest region, like Silverlight Hills, only has one Waygate which is situated in the southern section of the region where the Cursed Forest joins Dunley Farmlands.

How to Use Cave Passages to Fast Travel

Search for Cave Passages in the game by keeping an eye out for blazing red fractures on rock faces. When you find one, get close to the glowing breach and hold F to move through the cave system.

We advocate building your Castle around Cave Passages. This will allow you to unload materials faster, especially in locations with many endgame materials like the Cursed Forest.

Cave Locations (Cave Passages Map)

There are a total of four Cave Passages in V Rising.

V Rising Cave Passage #1 The entrance of the first one is in the Cursed Forest, and it opens southwest of Farbane Forest.

V Rising Cave Passage #2 The entrance of the second one is also in the Cursed Forest but it opens west of Dunley Farmlands.

V Rising Cave Passage #3 The entrance of the third one is on the Southside of Dunley Farmlands, and it opens up in Farbane Forest.

V Rising Cave Passage #4 The entrance of the fourth one is on the Southeast side of the Silverlight Hills, and it opens near the Hallowed Mountains.

Cannot Teleport While Carrying Resources

Using waygates to teleport around the map in V Rising has its limitations, the biggest one being that you can’t teleport while carrying resources. If you seem to be unable to teleport, this could be the reason why. In order to teleport, you first need to clear your inventory.

Keep in mind that this restriction only applies to resources like stone, copper, iron, animal harvests, etc. You can still teleport through vampire waygates while carrying your personal equipment like weapons and armor.

This is why having a well-designed and built base comes in handy. Whenever you wish to teleport somewhere, you can simply drop your precious resources into the storage chests in your base and then travel while carrying your equipment to help you in the dangers that await.

The world of Vardoran in V Rising holds many secrets. While a majority of these secrets are directly related to gameplay, such as finding iron , there are a few that can simply make your life as a vampire easier. One unknown feature of V Rising is the fast travel system, which works like a traditional system in an MMORPG. There are Vampire Waygates scattered around the map, which serve as the teleport stations that you can use to fast travel to other Waygates you've discovered.

Although, the Vampire Waygates aren't exactly what they seem. There are some caveats to using the Waygates and this can hinder your ability to fast travel. Below, you can see exactly how the Vampire Waygates and the fast travel system work in V Rising.

Fast traveling in V Rising

The Waygates in V Rising are marked on the map as green house icons. Once you discover one, it will be marked on your map permanently so you can see exactly how far away you are to any given Waygate. Each Waygate has a different name, which makes it easier to know exactly where you are in the world. While the Waygates seem simple enough to use, there is one large caveat to using them to fast travel the map.

You cannot fast travel while carrying resources. This applies to anything you can gather out in the world, such as minerals, wood, plant fibers, leather and animal hide, etc. The developers have designed the Waygates like this so players must make hard decisions while gathering resources across the map. This also brings the sun into play, as you must now brave the elements traveling back to your base with an inventory full of resources instead of simply fast traveling. You can still have consumables or general equipment in your inventory if you want to fast travel, though.

If you don't want to travel hundreds of meters with resources in your inventory, you can establish different castles in every region of V Rising. This will make it easier to store resources that you might not want to lose due to enemies or the sun. These various bases will also allow you to potentially bypass the sun altogether. You can think of them as waystations to pass the time during the day and then resume travel once nighttime arrives.

Unfortunately for those who want to use the Vampire Waygates to their fullest extent, there aren't too many in Vardoran. Most regions have four at the maximum, making the distance between each one fairly far. However, this can be mitigated by making your own Vampire Waygate. In order to do so, you must first defeat the boss Polora the Feywalker. Polora has a recommended level of 34 and can be found roaming the Gleaming Meadows in the western part of Farbane Woods. Upon defeating Polora, you will unlock the blueprint for the Vampire Waygate.

The construction of each Waygate costs the following resources:

• 10 Gem Dust
• 20 Copper Ingots
• 200 Blood Essence

Your constructed Waygates work the exact same way as the default ones found out in the world. You can use them to fast travel to any other Waygate. Additionally, other players on your server can't use your personal Waygates, so they might be a good way to escape an enemy player if you can get close to one.

Looking to get around in a snap? Learning to teleport should be a top priority. Making it happen isn't straightforward, but definitely worth it.

When it comes to getting around the world of V Rising , there are very few ways to speed up movement. No mounts will help and, aside from some abilities that have dashes tied to them, skills aren't going to help out much. Thankfully, there is a way for players to fast travel around the map quickly.

However, it's not immediately available and not clearly explained how to execute such a teleportation. Thankfully, with just a few easy steps, players can be getting all over the map. For players that have discovered most of V Rising , no location is more than a minute or two away.

Discover At Least Two Vampire Waygates

When trying to track down a boss like the Alpha Wolf , walking to any given place can take thirty minutes or more. The trick to fast travel is in the Vampire Waygates. Some will be labeled, but they won't be functional until they have been discovered.

Discovering one isn't useful because it would only be able to transport a vampire to itself. To get any fast travel at all, players will have to discover two waygates first. After getting close to them, the character can then go back and forth.

Press F To Teleport At A Waygate

After discovering at least two waygates, going to any one of them will say "Hold F to Teleport" when approaching it. Go ahead and hold F, it will take the player to a map. From this screen, simply click on any desired waygate and the character will appear there.

Undiscovered waygates will not be labeled on this map, so there aren't any red herrings. If players are looking for iron to farm or any other material, this can help speed up the process substantially. There is one more trick to the Vampire Waygates that will get the character back to the castle.

Building A Waygate In The Castle

To add a Vampire Waygate inside of the castle, players will need to find and take down Polora the Feywalker. She's not the easiest boss, but, for the brave, she can be located with the Blood Alter at the castle. She also offers four other perks, making her a wise choice to take down when players are strong enough.

To make the waygate, it will take some Blood Essence, Planks, Copper Ingots, and Gem Dust. By the time she's found, players should have gathered more than enough to construct the Vampire Waygate. Make it in the castle territory and it'll be added to the map choices.

How to Fast Travel in V Rising

The world of  V Rising is new, big, and scary to navigate at times. You’ll need to make sure that you’re keeping yourself safe during the day, and feeding on the blood of the innocent, and not so innocent, at night. However, if you need to get across the map in a hurry, is there any way to do just that?

We’re going to look further into this, and find out if there is a way to  fast travel across the map , making it so you can get from your current location to your destination in a mere moment, instead of having to trudge through the lands again. Let’s dive right in!

Gated Communities in V Rising

If you’re looking to make your way through the world faster than ever before, you’re not going to just be able to bring up a menu and select where you’ll want to go. You’ll need to go out and venture into the world a bit before anything else, where you’ll come across  Waygates . You’ll instantly be able to spot one of these  large, cylindrical areas with three pillars surrounding them .

However, there is one big problem that comes along with fast travel, and that’s the fact that you  cannot bring anything that isn’t a piece of equipment or consumable to your destination. That means you’ll have to dump your resources if you’re looking to use one of these, which could be a bad thing if you have a lot of them. However, if you’re in a pinch and need to make your way home before the sun starts to shine, this may be your last-ditch option to make sure you’re safe for another day.

Thankfully, while there are a few Waygates spread around the map, you’ll be able to  craft your own after you’ve reached a certain point in the game. Thankfully, by this point you’ve already mastered the idea of building a roof , so you’ll have all of the tools that you’ll need to make this dream a reality. If you’re looking to create your own Waygate, you’ll need to have these materials on hand:

• 200 Blood Essence
• 20 Copper Ingot
• 10 Gem Dust

You’ll need to make sure that you’ve gotten the Grinder to make that extra dust, so get out there, start finding materials, and make it so you can get around the world with ease!

But as we’ve mentioned earlier, there’s a huge flaw with V Rising Waygates. As per the game rules, you can’t use Waygates while carrying resources and loot in your inventory. As a result, you must empty your entire inventory and throw away all the loot before using them.

In case your ultimate goal is to farm resources in V Rising, we highly recommend getting a horse instead of using Waygate to fast travel.

How to craft Waygates in V Rising

How to Fast Travel in V Rising?

You need to first uncover Vampire Waygates to fast travel around in V Rising. They are marked in your map by green portal icons which will automatically appear after you’re in certain distance of them.

Vampire Waygates aren’t the only way to fast travel. There are two ways to fast travel in V Rising:

Vampire Waygates

Cave Passages

You can fast travel in V Rising by using Vampire Waygates that are found around the map. By using Vampire Waygates you can travel to any other Vampire Waygate that you have already discovered. The downside to using Vampire Waygates is that you cannot carry resources in between using them.

Another way to fast travel in V Rising is by using Cave Passages. Cave Passages are one-way and have a fixed location you can fast travel to so they’re more limited in comparison. Cave Passages compensate you for this by allowing you to carry resources.

Whether you take Vampire Waygates or Cave Passages is really up to you. There are pros and cons to both fast travel methods. As you progress around the map, you’ll eventually discover Vampire Waygates and Cave Passages organically.

Most regions in V Rising only have 3 or 4 Vampire Waygates. The number gets fewer as you move north. Thankfully, there is a way to add more Vampire Waygates as we’ll talk more about later in this article.

Vampire Waygates or Cave Passages: Which Is Better?

There’s no Fast Travel method that’s really better between Vampire Waygates and Cave Passages. Both of them have their own strengths and weaknesses.

• Doesn’t let you take resources (-)
• Let’s you take resources (+)
• One-way trip (-)
• Isn’t marked on your map upon discovery (-)

Okay, so Cave Passages technically aren’t one-way in the strictest definition. You do have the option to go back to the entrance of the Cave Passage once you’re on the other side. What makes Cave Passages a one-way teleporter, is that the exit point is always located on top of a cliff that is impossible to reach by any means. Neither your Bat Form or Fog Form vampire powers are going to help you reach it.

On the surface it does seem like Vampire Waygates are better if not for the fact that you can’t take resources with you. Depending on your playstyle this could be objectively true, however it depends on how you use them.

When building your vampire castle, you can take advantage of Cave Passages in order to secure resources easier. Keep them in mind in the long run.

How to Build Your Own Vampire Waygate in V Rising?

You can build your own personal Vampire Waygate in V Rising using the necessary materials:

• 10x Gem Dust
• 20x Copper Ingot
• 200x Blood Essence

You’ll unlock the ability to build Vampire Waygates after defeating Palora the Feywalker a level 36 boss that you can find in Gleaming Meadows far east of the Farebane woods. Defeat her and you’ll be able to build your own personal Vampire Waygates for fast travel in V Rising.

Your personal Vampire Waygate works the same as the Waygates stationed around the map. The one key difference is that only you can use your Vampire Waygate so you don’t have to worry about other players accessing it which is convenient.

How to Use Waygate & Cave Passage to Fast Travel or Teleport in V Rising

As mentioned, there are two methods for Fast travel. You can either use the Waygates or Cave passages to fast travel. While both of these methods have pros and cons, they teleport you to another location in an instance. So, let’s start with the Waygates first.

How to Use Waygate in V Rising

You can use the different Waygates to fast travel from one Waygate to another in an instance. There are over 10 Vampire Waygates scattered throughout the map. Although these waygates teleport you instantly, you cannot carry any resources or materials except weapons and armor. So, make sure that your inventory is empty.  While there are no prerequisites to use these Waygates, you need to discover them first. You can use the Waygates more conveniently by placing your Castle Heart near their location.

Here is the Waygate map indicating their exact location to fast travel in V Rising :

• In addition to using the waygates, you can also craft one. For that, you need to get a blueprint to craft the Waygates. You need to defeat Polora, the Feywalker at level 34 .
• 20 Copper Ingot

Stunlock Studios’ open-world vampire-themed survival game V Rising was first revealed about a year ago. Within less than two weeks of its release, the indie prodigy has managed to climb to the very top of Steam charts, claiming its rightful place as one of the best-selling titles. Despite being in early access, the world of Vardoran houses many secrets that continuously pull in players interested in walking a mile in the shoes of newly awakened vampires . As the revenge-driven fledglings carve their own path, they will eventually discover a hidden fast travel system, which does little to offer detailed guidance on its inner workings .

Like other open world games, V Rising features a multifaceted system that allows players to cover a great distance in a short time frame and quickly traverse from one location to another. At its core lie Vampire Waygates, which can be activated upon discovery. Scattered across the map, these points of interest are usually hidden in the far corners of Vardoran's picturesque regions, taunting players with a promise of a timely escape and a shelter from the deadly rays of sunlight.

Locating Vampire Waygates should not prove difficult, as their distinct appearance makes them fairly easy to notice. While exploring the overworld, vampire fledglings should look for circular slab-like structures with three stone pillars. Discovering them will automatically mark their spot on the map with a green icon resembling an arched gateway, allowing players to utilize the new fast travel point and providing a safe passage to other Waygates. However, opting for this form of travel comes with one particularly cumbersome disadvantage.

Interacting with a Vampire Waygate in hopes of reaching a faraway destination is not as easy as selecting the preferred itinerary. Only equipment and consumables are allowed, meaning that (unless they are willing to part with resources like animal hide, leather, minerals, and wood) players cannot use Waygates for fast travel. Since the overworld is rather expansive and ripe with dangers, knowing where to build a base and when to cut one’s losses can help tremendously in the long run, even if the game imposes carefully devised drawbacks.

You'll learn about avoiding sunlight, crafting equipment, tracking and defeating bosses, building spectacular castles, and much more. The sun has set. The Bloodmoon rises. Now is the time to venture out into the wonderful world of Vardoran.

V Rising has all the basic pillars of a great survival and crafting game. There's exploration, there are enemies to fight, weapons and armour to craft, technologies to unlock, bosses to slay, and magnificent gothic cathedrals to build.

But the depth of some of these systems may surprise you. Combat is layered and skill-based. Buildings require careful planning, particularly on PvP servers. The day/night cycle is extremely important, because sunlight is deadly to vampires like you. V Rising tips and tricks

Play on the right server type for you

When you first start a game in V Rising, you'll be asked to choose a server type. All servers are divided into PvE and PvP. In PvE servers, you can't attack other players, or damage or steal their possessions. In PvP, you can attack enemies, and during certain times of the day you can raid other players' castles.

There are also extra settings beyond these two server types, which include how much of your equipment you lose upon dying; what times of day you can raid enemy castles; how many resources you get from mining and gathering, and so on.

If you want to just learn how to play and progress through the tech tree, you'd best pick PvE, at least at first. If you're interested in the extra layer and challenge of facing off against other vampires while you explore and expand your domain, then PvP is for you. Learn the warnings signs of sunlight

The most common cause of death in V Rising is sunlight exposure. Sunlight is absolutely deadly in this game, so during the day you need to stay in the shadows as much as possible. The sun is a real object in the sky which moves throughout the day, so shadows will also move around over time. So be very careful before you step away from your keyboard for more than a few seconds.

If you step out into the sunlight, you have only a short time before you start taking massive damage. You can tell how near you are to taking damage by learning the warnings signs of sunlight:

• An orange fiery spark effect will start to emanate from your character.
• A ray of light will appear, shining from the sky down towards your character.
• The screen will grow brighter over time.
• A sound effect will play, growing louder over time.

If you experience any of these effects, you need to get to the shadows as quickly as possible, or you'll be dead in seconds.

Spend time finding a good place to build your castle

Building is one of the key components of many a survival crafting game, and V Rising is no exception, giving players the chance to build massive gothic castles in which to house their vampiric possessions and necessities. But unlike many other such games, you can't just build anywhere you feel like it. You first have to place down a Castle Heart, which lays claim to the surrounding area.

You only have 1 or 2 Castle Hearts at any given time (depending on the rules of your server), so it's important to spend a fair bit of time exploring the starting region of the Farbane Woods and finding the ideal place to begin construction of your home.

Elevated areas are prioritised by most players, because the natural ramps up to these areas provide great chokepoints for defending against attacks. But you should also consider your surroundings. How close are you to key resource-gathering areas? If you're near the beginning of a game, you might also want to build close to a Waygate so you can fast travel from point to point with ease. It's well worth expending a bit of early game time exploring for a great location for your castle.

Use the right equipment for the job

Gear is everything in V Rising. Not only does it determine the types of attacks you can use on enemies, but it also increases your Gear Score, which has a dramatic effect on how easy or difficult you may find fights against different NPC enemies.

Your weapons in V Rising are simultaneously your resource-gathering tools. An axe is ideal for chopping trees for wood. A sword is great for cutting down vegetation. A mace is required for mining stone and ores from rocks.

At the same time, these implements each have different pros and cons when it comes to combat. Your starting weapons may not have much to differentiate themselves from each other, but as you upgrade your gear, you'll find that different weapons have different special attacks and abilities which force you to make important decisions about which tools to use for fighting as well as gathering resources.

Use different blood types to your advantage

When you feed on an enemy, your blood type will change and you'll adopt some of the qualities of the thing you fed upon. For example, feeding from a "Worker"-class enemy will give you better mining and gathering yields. Feeding from a "Creature"-class enemy gives you boosted movement speed and sunlight resistance. Feeding from a "Rogue"-class enemy gives you increased crit chance and damage potential.

If you stick to one single blood type all the time, then you're missing a trick. Each blood type is perfect for different situations, so I'd recommend looking around for high quality blood of the right type before going on any major adventures. Spend time preparing for each major fight

Vardoran is a dangerous place, and even seasoned blood-suckers can find themselves overwhelmed unless they come prepared for every fight. One important consideration is your current blood type, but it's also important to bring the right tools and items for the job. An early consumable item you should stack up on is Vermin Salve, which can heal you over time without you having to resort to using up your blood reserves.

You should also plan to fight difficult fights during the night, because it's much harder to fight effectively when you're also trying to stay out of the sunlight. Looking ahead really pays off in V Rising.

Experiment with different forms of travel

There are various modes of transportation available to the vampiric immortals of V Rising. The simplest is running around on your own two feet, which is good for fighting and doing basic chores. But it's not very quick.

The fastest mode of transporation is via Vampire Waygates, which you can use to teleport instantly across the map. But these are very limited, so perhaps instead you want a horse to ride for covering great distances quickly. But you'll need to keep it alive and out of danger, which can be a hassle. Maybe the best thing is simply to transform yourself into a wolf, giving yourself greatly increased movement speed until you take damage or change forms again. Or perhaps you need to scale cliffs and avoid the terrain altogether, in which case a vampire bat form will do very nicely...

Use the quests and the Blood Altar to progress

V Rising cleverly guides you along a good starting path of progression with its series of quests. These quests appear in the top-left corner, and following them is the best way to get started if you don't know what's going on in the game.

At first these quests are fairly straightforward, covering things such as gathering the resources required to craft basic gear. But later on, the quests may require you to take several intermediate steps on your own before you can complete them.

If you're ever not sure what you have to do in order to complete the next quest, you should check out your Blood Altar. The Blood Altar is a building you can use to track down the game's many bosses, and each boss will unlock new abilities, recipes, and buildings for you. The map is a magnificent tool for new V Rising players. Unlike many survival games, there's no procedurally generated terrain in this game: the map is always the same, and you can learn the regions as you might learn a map in a traditional MMO.

There are areas of interest dotted about every region in V Rising's world of Vardoran, and you can hover over them in the map to view exactly what these areas are, and - most importantly - the resources that you can find there. Finally, let's finish off with a medley of random but very useful tips and bits of advice that we all wish we knew when we'd first started playing V Rising:

• You can hold left-click to attack. The same goes for chopping wood, mining rocks, and so on.
• Trees provide shade from sunlight. If you chop them down, the shade disappears. Don't get caught out by this!
• You can hold down the interact button and move your mouse over loot on the floor to pick it all up in one go, rather than having to tap the interact button once for each piece of loot.
• Hover over enemies (both NPCs and players) to see their current blood type and blood quality.
• You can use the "Sort" button in inventory windows to neatly arrange all items within. In your inventory, the "Sort" button won't affect anything on your hotbar; only items beneath.
• You can use the "Compulsively Count" button while interacting with a chest or other storage device to automatically transfer any items from your inventory which already exist within the chest.
• You can rename chests by clicking the icon next to the chest's name in the chest window.
• While in Wolf form, NPC wolves won't attack you.
• You can fight from horseback, but it's risky. Left-click attacks deal more damage than usual while on horseback, but if you get hit, you'll be thrown from your horse.
• You can craft a Fishing Rod after defeating Rufus The Foreman, an early boss; and then you can use the Fishing Rod wherever you see bubbles in water. Fishing is a great way to gather not just fish, but random gear and even research books as well.
• Occasionally, a Bloodmoon will rise during the night. During a Bloodmoon, you gain extra speed and boosted effects from your blood type.
• Pay attention to an enemy's health bar. If it's orange or red, it's a higher level than you. If there's a skull next to its name instead of a level, then it's much higher level than you.
• You can use the Mace's secondary attack as an extra dash to evade attacks while your primary dash is on cooldown. Note that you need a Bronze Mace or better to unlock the secondary attack.
• Click the plus and minus icons next to the minimap to zoom the minimap in or out. You can also click the lock icon to change the minimap's orientation to be fixed or to change according to the player's direction.
• Silver items such as coins will slowly inflict damage on you when held. This prevents you from using abilities such as the Wolf transformation, because the ability ends the moment you take damage.
• Don't chop down every nearby tree around your house; it's useful to have shade nearby.
• The Dunley Farmlands and other major regions of the map are far, far more dangerous than the Farbane Woods. Don't venture out of the woods until you're at least level 30.
• If you see any yellow, orange, or red gear icons above your hotbar, that's an indicator that some of your gear has low durability and may soon break, meaning their effects are removed until repaired. You can repair it from your inventory as long as you have the required materials.
• While extracting V blood (blood from bosses), you are completely invulnerable - even from sunlight. Once you finish extracting the V blood, you'll cause an explosion around you which severely damages all enemies and resource objects nearby.
• Extracting V blood doesn't actually refill your blood supply, so if you're low on blood, don't look to bosses to satiate your thirst.
• From the ability selection screen, you can reorder the abilities shown on your vampire powers wheel (accessible by holding CTRL).
• Abilities like Blood Rage which increase your attack speed are also great for chopping down wood and mining rocks faster.

V Rising Cave Passages: All Locations & How To Use

Caves that are mostly known as Cave Passages in V Rising enable the players to travel faster across the map. They have entrances with which players have a brief interaction and exit where they leave the cave. Players enter through the starting point and end up in another region of the world when they exit. There are multiple passages scattered around the map, and it’s time that you find out their locations!

• Cave Passages in V Rising facilitate map traversal, allowing players to enter at one point and exit at another.
• Unlike Waygates, which restrict teleportation with certain items, players can carry all resources while traveling through the Cave.
• There are 4 Cave passage locations with both entrance and exit points, forming an interconnected network on Vordan’s map.

Cave Passages

The cave passages form an interconnected network on Vardoran’s map. Players must press the F key while interacting with the cave’s entrance, and they will immediately end up in another location. Thus, the function of cave passages is to teleport players.

Core Advantage

In the game, players have another option of traveling to other locations via Waygates. Waygates possess strict limitations regarding the items a player is carrying. If you travel through waygates carrying items, you will be notified that items with a common tag “cannot be teleported” needs to be discarded right here. However, an exception is applicable to certain weapons and a few consumables. 

The caves are so much better in this regard, as they let you travel with your items. They enable you to carry whatever you want through the underground tunnels. Thus, the core advantage of cave passages is that they let you carry all your resources with you while traveling to other locations. A drawback of using the cave passages is that they are only four in number. On the contrary, if you use waygates, then you will have ten waygates to use. This number does not include the waygates that you can craft later once you get Slain Palora the Feywalker. 

Another drawback is that the cave passages are just one-way trips. The exit is a ledge inaccessible by frog and bat form. However, players have the option to return to the entrance as long as they have not descended from the exit. 

How To Use The Cave Passages?

If you want to travel fast across the regions of Vardoran, you must know how to use the cave passages. We have covered all the steps that you need to know to use cave passages correctly.

• First of all, you need to look for these cave passages. You can spot them as glowing red cracks on the side of rock walls.
• After locating these glowing red cracks, hold the F key to travel across these passages. 
• You will end up on the other side of the passage.
• You will not be able to travel back through this passage as it is one-sided.
• You can always opt for waygates to travel, but remember, you will not be able to carry your items while traveling.

• Entrance: Northwest of the Haunted Iron Mine in Dunley Farmlands.
• Exit: South of the Bandit Logging Camp in Farbane Woods.
• Entrance: East of the Eastern Ancient Village in the Cursed Forest.
• Exit: Northwest of Bedrock Pass in Dunley Farmlands.
