Motorbike rider in hospital after Plymouth crash

A motorbike rider has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a car in Plymouth, police say.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers said they were called to Crownhill Road, near the Ringmore Way junction, at about 07:20 BST after reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike.

The rider sustained a "potentially serious injury" and was taken to hospital to be checked out, they said.

The road was reopened after being cleared.

The age and gender of the rider have not been disclosed.

Live: Road near Plympton closed both ways after overnight crash

A road in west Devon was closed nearly 18-hours after a fatal crash overnight. The B3417 near Plympton, Plymouth was closed at around 10am on Tuesday, May 21 after a single-vehicle crash.

Emergency services remained at the scene throughout the day and, in a statement issued this afternoon, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that one man from Plymouth, a passenger, had sadly died. A man driving the vehicle was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash took place between Hemerdon and Lee Moor. Police say the crash was first reported at 10pm last night and the road remains closed. According to traffic monitor Inrix, the road reopened at around 3.30pm.

Inris reports: "B3417 in both directions re-opened, earlier accident investigation work from Hemerdon Lane (Hemerdon) to Lee Moor Junction (Lee Moor). The road reopened at around 15:30 this afternoon following the collision in the early hours of the morning."

Man died and another in hospital after late-night crash

A passenger has died at the scene of a collision in Plymouth which also left a driver seriously injured. The crash, which involved one vehicle, took place on the B3417 on Tuesday, May 21.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10pm. A passenger in the vehicle, a male from Plymouth, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, Devon and Cornwall Police said . A second man from Plymouth, who was driving at the time, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Emergency services are currently at the scene on a single vehicle collision near the B3417 near Plympton.

"The road is expected to be closed for most of the morning due to the incident and vehicle recovery."
