Besides being one of the world's most famous bike races, Tour de France is also linked to land art along the route. Here you'll find creatively decorated spaces and items in the city and countryside.

Leading up to this year's Tour de France, a large number of cultural events are being held under the umbrella Yorkshire Festival 2014. Fields of Vision is a company that's taking part, creating an amazing series of huge, grass-related land art installations along a 65 mile trail.

Renowned French artist Pierre Duc has created some exceptional "land art" with his collaborator Thierry Gallibour for this year's Tour de France. His large-scale works incorporate and manipulate natural materials, often stretched across open fields, and are best seen from the air.

Tour de France 2022 starts July 3rd in Vejle. Approximately 90 km of the 182.2 km long stage runs through the eastern part of Sønderjylland, passing the market towns of Haderslev and Aabenraa on its way to the finish in Sønderborg. The hilly landscape between Haderslev and Aabenraa offers the final categorized climb of the stage.

Ahead of the arrival of the Tour de France in our region, on 10 July 2022, Chaplin’s World, together with neighbouring towns and villages, has commissioned artist Franck Bonneau for the creation, at Manoir de Ban, of a monumental piece of land art that, seen from the sky, represents The Tramp in Chaplin’s The Kid.

The Starlings project is one of 12 large scale land sculptures sited around the UK, 3 of which are sited in Calderdale during the Yorkshire Festival to celebrate the Tour de France, which starts in on 6th July 2014. Starlings were chosen for the design theme because they are in decline in the UK.
