“We are not only excited to be announcing Snapdragon Stadium’s first concert, but we are beyond thrilled to open San Diego’s newest, state-of-the-art venue with such an iconic artist like Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band,” said Adam Millar, General Manager. “Buffett, along with hometown hero, Jason Mraz, will make for an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience you can’t miss.”

2022 brings much to celebrate! The tour, aptly titled Life on the Flip Side – Redux, as Jimmy and the Coral Reefer Band continue to live Life on the Flip Side, which has had many meanings this past year! We are also celebrating Jimmy Buffett’s 75th trip around the sun and the 50th anniversary of his journey to Key West, the magical spot that provided (and continues to give) much inspiration behind the legend’s songs and infectious attitudes.

The set list will include selections from Jimmy’s latest releases, Life on the Flip Side (2020, debuted #2 on Billboard) and Songs You Don’t Know By Heart (2020, inspired by fans, acoustic revisits of lesser played songs) and of course all of the fan favorites!

Special guest Jason Mraz released Lalalalovesongs earlier this year, a compilation of his most memorable love songs, including the worldwide smash “I’m Yours.” The collection also includes GRAMMY-winning duet “Lucky,” “Have It All,” “You and I Both,” and “A Beautiful Mess,” among many others.

“It’s an honor to be asked to take part in the fun,” said Mraz. “My band and I are really looking forward to it!"

Jimmy Buffett rocks out onstage with his guitar.

It’s time to get your fins out.

Legendary tropical rocker Jimmy Buffett is returning to venues all over North America to entertain Parrotheads from coast to coast from March through May this year on his ‘Second Wind Tour.’

And you wouldn’t believe it but we found some tickets to the “Cheeseburger In Paradise” crooner going for as low as $12 before fees on Vivid Seats.

That’s cheaper than a cold one at a concert.

Heck, while we’re at it, it’s probably less than what it costs to grab a margarita at one of Buffett’s Margaritavilles.

(Editor’s note: It is. The ‘Uptown Top Shelf Margarita’ at the Times Square Margaritaville costs $14.75 ).

It really is “Five O’ Clock Somewhere.”

So, if you want to make the pilgrimage to catch one of music’s most durable stars live this year, here’s everything you need to know.

All prices listed above were found at the time of publication and are subject to fluctuation.

Jimmy Buffett 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all upcoming tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available for each show can be found below.

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Inside Jimmy Buffett’s Tribute Concert: McCartney, Margaritas, and One Hell of a Parrothead Party

By John Lonsdale

John Lonsdale

“Good evening, Hollywood-fucking-Bowl!” Paul McCartney exclaimed to the flock of Parrotheads gathered before him. A sold-out crowd had assembled in the famed Los Angeles venue on Thursday to celebrate the legacy of Jimmy Buffett at “Keep the Party Going,” a laid-back, one-night-only tribute show full of eclectic guests.

“I had the great pleasure of knowing Jimmy , and like everyone else on the bill tonight, I said, ‘This is one great man.’ He was generous. He was funny. He’d done just about everything in his life,” McCartney said, before launching into “Let It Be .” It was a song that McCartney said he’d played for Buffett at his home during the final week of his life. Buffett died in Sept. 1, 2023, at 76 after a battle with Merkel cell skin cancer.

Along with the stacked musical lineup, “Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett” featured introductions — some via video, some in person —  from Dolly Parton, James Taylor, Woody Harrelson, Pat Riley, and Dave Matthews. Harrison Ford was there in the flesh.

“There is no other way to say it: There will never be another like Jimmy,” Ford told the crowd, before introducing the Zac Brown Band as “one of Jimmy’s favorite and most-frequent collaborators.” The group jammed through the new track “Pirates & Parrots,” out April 19, and their collab with Buffett “Knee Deep,” with Brown literally taking off his pants to play the song in shorts and a tee backed by Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band.

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

“Jimmy enjoyed living life more than any person enjoyed living life,” the country star said. “I can remember we were hiking one day and we were heading up this vista and we started talking about music and songwriting and our careers and his life and my life, and death. And, ‘You know, Eric,’ [Jimmy] said, ‘Guys like us, we don’t really die.’ He said, ‘because the songs live forever.'”

“And this one will,” Church said, as the opening chords to “Son of a Son of a Sailor” rang out over the Bowl and an image of a sailboat drifting along the water was projected on a screen behind the musicians. Later, a projection of the Arc de Triopmhe appeared behind Jackson Browne as he sang his stirring rendition of “He Went to Paris,” one of Buffett’s greatest cuts from 1973’s A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean .

In the latter half, the set list shifted to songs that Buffett wasn’t exactly known for: Snoop Dogg took the stage for a performance of “Gin and Juice,” alongside psychedelic visuals of Buffett in the 2019 Matthew McConaughey film The Beach Bum . And Pitbull appeared to perform his own “Don’t Stop the Party” before being joined by Jon Bon Jovi for “Thank God & Jimmy Buffett.”

For the home stretch, Don Johnson — no stranger to pastels and warm-weather vibes from his Miami Vice days — called to the stage “a bunch of guys [they] used to hang out with back in the day” and introduced the Eagles . Led by Don Henley and Joe Walsh, the California icons played their own miniature set featuring Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” and the band’s “Take It to the Limit” and “In the City.” The Eagles hung around to back up McCartney on the Beatles’ “Let It Be.”

Jazz Fest raises a glass to Jimmy Buffett with planned tribute

D uring the last Sunday of Jazz Fest, organizers are closing out the music Mecca with a tribute to one of New Orleans' favorite sons, Jimmy Buffett.

"He's not just somebody that played at the festival. He's a part of the festival," said producer Quint Davis. "In fact, his last show was absolutely one of the best shows ever."

Buffett found his own paradise at the Fair Grounds as a regular performer over the years. Early on in his career, the laid-back legend found his footing in New Orleans and discovered this event while developing a friendship with Davis.

"When the festival happened, it was like, 'Wow,' you know. This is my whole life story. So he started, he identified with it, and he wanted to play," Davis said.

As the festival grew, so did Buffett who began eying the local talent pool for his own shows, recruiting artists like the Iguanas.

"First thing, he was like, 'Man, I dig your band. We're going on tour. We're starting a tour in January in Florida. Can you open it for when you open the shows for us?' And we're like, 'Hell yeah!' So that was exciting," said Joe Cabral with The Iguanas.

The band would later be signed to his label and also started performing at Jazz Fest. Cabral described Buffett as a superstar who always appreciated the trip around the sun.

"He worked to get there, but he was, like I said, he was a normal cat," Cabral said. "He didn't let that success kind of go to his head."

Even before Buffett died in 2023, he would still come see The Iguanas play.

On May 5, from 3:35 p.m. until 5:05 p.m., a series of artists will be performing with the Coral Reefer Band to honor Buffett and his impact on music here in Louisiana and on beaches everywhere.

It’s always happy hour in the musical JIMMY BUFFETT’S ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE, live on stage May 2-19 at Ocala Civic Theatre!

At the Margaritaville Hotel & Bar in the Caribbean, Tully (Christian Gonzales) is a part-time bartender, part-time singer, and full-time charmer with a license to chill. This run-down yet idyllic tropical resort is run by the no-nonsense yet caring Marley (Alexis Medina) and staffed by Tully’s buddies, bartender Brick (Janik Buranosky) and busboy Jamal (Jordan Watson). Another resort fixture is beach bum J.D. (Patrick Stanley), a one-eyed, good-natured old drunk. It’s always five o’clock somewhere on island time for this bunch.

Smooth-talking playboy Tully thinks he's got the good life all figured out – until he meets Rachel (Adrienne Hebert), who’s on vacation with her friend Tammy (Courtney Curtis). Rachel is a hard-working, career-minded sort who’s more interested in saving the world than having a good time – but changes in latitude lead to changes in attitude for many in Margaritaville.

Meanwhile, Tammy is about to get married. When her overbearing fiancé Chadd (Cristian Cardoso) puts her on a diet to lose weight for the wedding, her self-esteem and usual zest for life take a nosedive – until she meets Brick. He may not be the brightest bulb, but he knows that sometimes you’ve just got to have a cheeseburger in paradise.

Soon, however, the whole island has to answer the question, “Where you gonna go when the volcano blow?” And before long, everyone is searching for more than just their lost shaker of salt. Will they all find their one particular harbor?

A lively ensemble (Roe Agnese, Ben Burnette, Lily Capote, Cristian Cardoso, Cheyenne Dever, Janea King, Adrianah Lee, Hayden McCracken, Caylinn Mosblech, Roberto Rivera, James Taylor III, Megan Taylor, Jordan Watson) keeps the party going. Full of Jimmy Buffett’s best-loved songs, this laid-back, light-hearted musical is the most fun you can have without a passport!

After failing to even be nominated in previous years, Cher, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne and Kool & The Gang will all be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2024, alongside repeat nominees Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band and hip-hop innovators A Tribe Called Quest.

In a novel move, Frampton encouraged concertgoers to vote for him during his April 14 show at The Shell in San Diego by having the QR code for the ballot projected onto the large video screen behind him on stage.

Five other artists who were also on the ballot for the first time this year did not earn enough votes to be inducted, specifically, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz, Sadé, Mariah Carey and Sinéad O’Connor, who died last July. Also failing to make the cut for induction were two repeat nominees — Jane’s Addiction and the hip-hop duo Erik B. & Rakim.

Sinead O'Connor has died at 56. She is shown at the 31st Annual Grammy Awards L.A. Feb. 22, 1989.

Appreciation: Sinead O’Connor, dead at 56, was a singular artist: ‘I would have liked to be a priest,’ she told us in 2013

‘I would like to be remembered,’ she told us, ‘as a loving mother and grandmother. I’d like to be the rocking-est granny! I’d like to go out like (pioneering blues and rock singer) Big Mama Thornton.’

This year’s inductees were announced during Sunday night’s telecast of “American Idol” by Lionel Richie, a 2022 hall inductee, and show host Ryan Seacrest. The list of 2024 honorees also includes six artists who will receive the hall’s Musical Excellence and Musical Influence awards, two categories that are chosen by the hall’s in-house committees.

The 2024 Musical Excellence Award honorees include Dionne Warwick, Norman Whitfield, Jimmy Buffett (who died last September from cancer) and the pioneering Detroit proto-punk-rock band MC5, whose leader, Wayne Kramer, died of cancer Feb. 2. The final iteration of the group, which included San Diego guitarist Stevie Salas playing alongside fellow guitarist Kramer, toured in 2022.

MC5 had been nominated for induction in six previous years but did not earn enough votes to gain induction. Buffett, whose final concert of his career with his Coral Reefer Band took place last May at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium, was never nominated.

This year’s Musical Influence Award honorees include England’s John Mayall and the late Alexis Korner, who in the 1960s jointly spearheaded the blues boom in the UK that fueled the launching of such bands as the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Fleetwood Mac and Cream. At 90, Mayall appears to be the oldest of this year’s hall honorees.

The third 2024 Musical Influence Award honoree is the late Big Mama Thornton, whose galvanizing recordings of the songs “Hound Dog” and “Ball and Chain” greatly influenced the subsequent versions of those songs by, respectively, Elvis Presley and Janis Joplin.

Artists become eligible for nomination 25 years after the release of their first recording and are honored for their “originality, impact and influence.” Ballots are cast by the hall’s more than 1,000 voting members, which include previous inductees and an array of music industry professionals, including this writer.

In 2013, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame introduced it “fan vote,” in which the top five nominees that fans vote online for are submitted as one official ballot that is counted with the rest of the Voting Committee’s. The quantitative impact of the fans’ choices is minimal — accounting for about 0.3 percent of the total — but creates a fair amount of buzz.

This year’s two top fan-vote earners are Dave Matthews Band (with 586,745 votes) and Frampton, with 529,077. This year’s online fan voting was supposed to continue until Friday, but instead concluded April 15.

The hall’s final 2024 honoree, powerhouse music, film and TV industry executive Suzanne de Passe, will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award. It is named after the co-founder of Atlantic Records.

The announcement of this year’s inductees comes as several of them are battling serious medical conditions.

Frampton, 73, has an autoimmune disease called inclusion body myositis that affects his muscle control and sense of balance. He was diagnosed with the disease in 2019, after falling several times on stage. He now walks with a cane, performs while seated and has lost some control of his fingers.

Osbourne, 75, rose to fame as the lead singer in the heavy-metal band Black Sabbath before launching his solo career in 1980. He suffered a serious fall in 2019, has since undergone four spinal surgeries and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003.

Mick Jones, the 79-year-old founder of the band Foreigner, disclosed his own Parkinson’s diagnosis in February of this year. He cites his condition as the reason he no longer tours with his group. Foreigner’s farewell tour includes a June 28 show at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Mick Jones is understandably proud that his band, Foreigner, sold more than 80 million albums worldwide between the release of its self-titled 1977 debut album and 1987’s “Inside Information.”

July 25, 2018

Fellow 2024 Rock Hall inductees Kool & The Gang will perform June 24 in San Diego at The Shell. Bassist and band founder Robert “Kool” Bell is the only surviving member still on tour with the group.

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Oct. 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland and will stream live on Disney+ and be available on Hulu the following day. An edited airing of the ceremony will be broadcast on ABC at a later date.

Cher may command the spotlight at the induction ceremony — should she choose to attend.

In December — two months before the 2024 nominees were announced — the 77-year-old singer blasted the hall for never having made her a nominee despite her having been eligible to be on the ballot since 1990.

“You know what? I wouldn’t be in it (the hall) now if they gave me a million dollars,” Cher said during a telecast of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“I’m not kidding you,” Cher continued. “I was about to say something else. … I was about to say I’m not sh-ting you. I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.”
