THE MELVINS , who are wrapping up a sold-out tour with MINISTRY , will return to the road this summer for a headlining trek dubbed "The Electric Roach Tour" , the hard-working band's first headlining run since 2019.
Singer/guitar player Buzz Osborne comments: "It's nice to be able to tour!! We were wondering if it would even be possible again. It's been years since we played these places. The amazing MINISTRY tour was a warmup for this!"

THE MELVINS released two albums in 2021: "Working With God" , a newly recorded album featuring the band's 1983 iteration ( Osborne , Dale Crover and original drummer Mike Dillard ),as well as the 36-song acoustic LP "Five Legged Dog" , which features a career-spanning collection of songs, from 1987's "Gluey Porch Treatments" to 2017's "A Walk With Love & Death" .
THE MELVINS are one of modern music's most influential bands. Having formed in 1983 Montesano, Washington, the group founded by Osborne (with stalwart drummer Dale Crover joining the following year),has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all its own. Over the band's nearly 40-year history, they've released over 30 original albums, numerous live full-lengths and far too many to count singles and rarities. In the course of their discography, they've partnered with Jello Biafra , MUDHONEY and FANTÔMAS for individual releases and toured the world many times over. In fact, the band had the misfortune to be in both Christchurch and Tokyo for their 2011 earthquakes. In 2012, THE MELVINS completed the "51 States In 51 Days" (50 states +DC) tour, which was chronicled in the film "Across The USA in 51 Days" . The current incarnation of the band is Osborne , Crover and Steven McDonald ( REDD KROSS / OFF! ). Previous lineups include a pairing of Osborne and Crover with BIG BUSINESS bandmembers Jared Warren and Coady Willis , a four-piece featuring the current trio plus BUTTHOLE SURFERS ' Jeff Pinkus , as well as MELVINS LITE , which partners Osborne and Crover with MR. BUNGLE 's Trevor Dunn . Sometimes, if you're extra lucky, one version of THE MELVINS will open for THE MELVINS .

Melvins Announce Fall 2022 “Five Legged Tour”
We Are the Asteroid lend support
The Melvins have a heavy year of touring ahead. Just weeks after announcing the summer “Electric Roach Tour,” the sludge veterans have announced an additional 43 dates for Fall 2022, dubbed “The Five Legged Tour.”
Beginning September 5th in San Francisco, the US trek makes a point to give fans ample opportunities to see The Melvins. King Buzzo and company have sketched out several shows in multiple states, including a healthy eight stops across California and six stops in Florida. As Osbourne said in a statement, “Nationwide once again! Nothing like touring the USA in the fall. Everyone’s a winner!”
“The Five Legged Tour” wraps up October 29th at The Halloween Freakout Festival in Los Angeles. Austin psych rockers We Are the Asteroid lend support on all dates. Tickets to the tour become available Friday, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. local time on Ticketmaster . See the full tour itinerary below.
After releasing both the newly recorded Working with God and the acoustic collection Five Legged Dog in 2021, the Melvins teamed up with Dumb Numbers back in April for the three-song collaborative EP Broken Pipe .
Before “The Five Legged Tour” begins, they’ll first support all this material on the “Electric Roach Tour,” which kicks off June 14th with support from Helms Alee and Harsh Mellow. Grab tickets to those dates here .

The Melvins Announce 'The Five Legged Tour'
Tickets for the seven-plus week tour are on-sale this Friday at 10 am local time.
The Melvins, who set sail for "The Electric Roach Tour" on June 14, have announced the next wave of dates in what's proving to be a gargantuan slate of 2022 shows, with "The Five Legged Tour" offering U.S. fans an additional 43 opportunities to take in one of the seminal band's live performances.
Buzz Osborne says: "Nationwide once again! Nothing like touring the USA in the fall. Everyone's a winner!"
Not to be confused with the band's recent acoustic collection of a similar name (Five Legged Dog), the electrified trek kicks off Sept. 5 in San Francisco and wraps up with a special outing at The Halloween Freakout, a one-off, Los Angeles based festival (more details to be announced soon). Tickets for the seven-plus week tour are on-sale this Friday at 10 am local time. We Are The Asteroid open on all dates.
The Melvins released two albums in 2021: Working With God, a newly recorded album featuring the band's 1983 iteration (Osborne, Dale Crover and original drummer Mike Dillard), as well as the a 36-song acoustic collection, Five Legged Dog, which features a career-spanning collection of songs, from 1987's Gluey Porch Treatments to 2017's A Walk With Love & Death.
The Melvins are one of modern music's most influential bands. Having formed in 1983 Montesano, Washington, the group founded by singer/guitar player Buzz Osborne (with stalwart drummer Dale Crover joining the following year), has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all its own. Over the band's nearly 40-year history, they've released over 30 original albums, numerous live full-lengths and far too many to count singles and rarities.
Most recently they released the 36-track acoustic collection Five Legged Dog, featuring reinterpretations of some of their heaviest songs as well as covers from their favorite artists. In the course of their discography, they've partnered with Jello Biafra, Mudhoney, and Fantômas for individual releases and toured the world many times over.
In fact, the band had the misfortune to be in both Christchurch and Tokyo for their 2011 earthquakes. In 2012, the Melvins completed the "51 States in 51 Days" (50 states +DC) tour, which was chronicled in the film "Across The USA in 51 Days." The current incarnation of the band is Osborne, Crover, and Steven McDonald (Redd Kross/OFF!).
Previous line-ups include a pairing of Osborne and Crover with Big Business band members Jared Warren and Coady Willis, a four-piece featuring the current trio plus Butthole Surfers' Jeff Pinkus, as well as Melvins Lite, which partners Osborne and Crover with Mr. Bungle's Trevor Dunn. Sometimes, if you're extra lucky, one version of the Melvins will open for the Melvins.

American alternative metal/hardcore punk band, Melvins, originally formed in Montesano, Washington, and currently consists of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, Jared Warren and Coady Willis.
Formed in 1983 by high school mates, Buzz Osborne (guitar/vocals), Matt Lukin (bass), and Mike Dillard (drums). They started off playing cover songs of Jimi Hendrix and Cream, and experimenting with hardcore punk music. Dillard decided to move on, who was soon replaced by Dale Crover. In 1985 C/Z Records was created and released their first album that featured four songs, and then in 1986 the band released their own debut EP, followed by their full-length album “Gluey Porch Treatments” in 1987.
In 1990 the band recorded and released “Bullhead” followed by a tour of Europe. In 1993 they were signed by Atlantic Records, releasing their first major label album “Houdini;” however, they were dropped three albums later. The band then signed with Amphetamine Reptile Records, and released their next album “Honky” in the same year (1997). The years to follow found the band re-mastering old songs, returning to old sounds, and in 2003 Atlantic Records (UK) released a compilation track of their top hits when the band was signed with Atlantic.
In Fall 2006 the band set out on tour to promote their newest album “(A) Senile Animal” and in July 2008 released “Nude With Boots.” After a series of tours and a few more albums, the band also had a side project called Melvins Lite consisting of Dunn, Dale and Buzz). Melvins Lite went on a record breaking tour in 2012, performing every night for 51 days. On 14 July 2014 the band announced their newest album “Hold It In.”
Live reviews
When someone mentions the grunge genre attention is immediately turned to Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc… but often time people forget one of the true pioneers of the genre, The Melvins.
While they’re not strictly a grunge band, they share many elements of the genre along with aspects of metal, alternative, punk and hardcore. The sludgy rock band has been together for nearly 30 years and are still performing live and putting on great shows as well.
Buzz Osbourne, the lead guitarist, vocalist, and all around interesting guy is one of the most unique front man in rock ‘n roll. Even if you’re not familiar with his music, you more than likely know him by his Side Show Bob hairstyle.
While the band isn’t as hard around the edges as they used to be, the more senior members are all near 50 years old at this point, they’re still able to pull off a crunching live set. Most of their shows these days tend to flip between electric and acoustic elements. It’s a nice change of pace and you get to hear re-worked versions of some classic songs like “Shevil,” “Eyes Fly,” and “Inner Ear Rupture” amongst others.
The Melvins aren’t as nasty as they used to be, but they’re every bit as exciting still.

There is a large debate when discussing the Melvins, what is bigger? The blistering metal guitar riffs or lead singer Buzz Osbourne's hair. The group's music has been described as a variety of things over the years including sludge metal, doom metal, stoner rock, drone metal and grunge. With labels like this attached you have some sort of understanding of the tone the band achieves when performing live. It is a somber, dark affair with the band filing onto stage in a manner similar to a funeral procession.
Through the gloom comes thumping drums, piercing percussion and that synonymous vocal of Buzz that is unlike many of his contemporaries. The group that formed over three decades ago is intent on showcasing two of its most critically acclaimed albums this evening 'Stoner Witch' and 'Bullhead'. These are performed in a two set mentality and the crowds are delighting in this solid choice, a clear winner with the early fans. The music is played in a reimagined order yet sounds equally good. It is clear as to why Melvins have had such a detrimental influence on the Seattle grunge from where they were formed.
The music was outstanding. Of course, the Melvins put on a great show with every single note hitting like a truck, both volume and delivery-wise. Maybe one of the best parts about their bass heavy sound might be the fact that they can get a lot louder than most bands without leaving your ears ringing for the next few days; it's the mid-range that's dangerous to hearing. Their opener, Helms Alee, was wonderful as well. That may have been the first time I was genuinely enamoured by an opening set. Their sound was somewhat psychedelic and definitely heavy, which led into the Melvins quite well. They joined the Melvins on stage for a fantastic finale: two basses, two guitars, and two drums. The only thing that I couldn't stand about the show was the crowd. The mosh pit was far too wide, was more slippery than an ice rink, and was filled with only 200+lb guys. I love mashing, but I also love being alive. There were also some older guys who were drugged out and trying to start fights, but the security couldn't even calm them down. That was all annoying, but the band's more than made up for it.
It was cancelled. we were very disappointed.

The Melvins concert in Dallas, Texas at Trees was one concert I will never forget. The concert venue was small creating an intimate setting which makes for great sound and acoustics. The Melvins are a group which do not talk much on stage, but make up for it sure power and energy (who wants to hear a bunch of talking right?). They came out and rocked the house for what seemed almost three hours. Just the sheer appearance of King Buzzo drove the crowd mad! The mosh pit was circling being driven by the sheer sludge sounds of the band.I was totally blown away by the bands energy and tone. The Melvins totally melted our faces off, and blew us away. Consider me a fan for life!
First time in Paradiso Tolhuistuin and must say was pleasently surprised. Great sound and good views made the Melvins experience once again one to remember. Buzz, Steven and Dale did their thing which they have done so many times but with an energy like you rarely see anymore.
It must also be awesome to be in a band that has created a huge and diverse repertoire, to draw from to make any live event something unique.
The crowd sucked it up, eventhough they were perhaps secretly hoping for more of the old classics.
I can recommend anyone to go and check out the Melvins live, you will be blasted away with a great mix of heavyness.
I’ve been going to see Melvins since 1991 and after last night’s show, I can say that they have never rocked harder. The set contained classics from Ozma, Bullhead, Houdini and Stoner Witch. There was also a sprinkling of new and less known stuff as well. Redd Kross was amazing and totally high energy. The collaboration between the two bands and the crossover of members was so cool. All the members of both could interchange easily... except Buzz of course, he has one home. The only bummer was that Shitkid didn’t play. I was really looking forward to seeing her.
What’s to say? Redd Kross and Melvins that’s all anyone needs to know. They both played power hour sets. Steven and Dale definitely earned their money pulling double duty for both sets. I’d seen something I never have before. The headlining band play a cover of the opening band while opening band member played with headliner!!! WTF!!! Then to see both bans merge for two songs at the end was pretty rad. The Grog Shop once again proved to be the place to see live music in Cleveland. I love the venue and the staff is awesome.
Sandwiched between Eye Flies and Night Goat was an hour-long sandwich of throwaway material. Usually, Melvins are okay, but last night was pretty disappointing. ...which is fine, shit happens, but these guys used to be a force to be reckoned with. Now it seems they've acquiesced to more or less phoning it in with mishmash of hard rock songs, minus the time changes and the dynamics that once made them so great. It is was like witnessing a poorly executed Melvins cover band.
Amazing show! So tightly, musically woven are these guys! Every note and beat was in perfect harmony! My neck hurts from it bopping all night! It was a show I want to hear over and over again! I hope they record and release the set we heard on Valentine’s Night! The acoustics at the Mystic made it even more magical, as I have seen the Melvin’s at different venues, but this night was awesome! Honey to my ears!
