“Medjugorje with Joe Walsh Tours” Review of Medjugorje

We had been to Medjugorje on pilgrimages many times before but mostly with Marian Pilgrimages. This time we decided to try Joe Walsh Tours. We simply could not fault Joe Walsh Tours even if we tried. The guides were simply wonderful, helpful and made sure everything went smoothly and that we were happy and comfortable while we were there. They were all very spiritual too and I would point out Philip Ryan was very inspirational in his talk to us. We stayed at Marinka Pansion (different to Pansion Marinka Kozina) which is just a couple of minutes walk from St James Church. The owner, Liliana, couldn't do any more to make us feel at home. We were able to make hot drinks or get cold drinks at any time of day or night. There were always biscuits, fruits, bread, jam, butter or cereal on the table. The cooked breakfast were always excellent with fried eggs, sausages, bacon and main daily meals were also very nicely cooked and plentiful. This was probably the best place we had ever stayed in all of our previous (8) pilgrimage there. We would certainly travel with Joe Walsh Tours next year. As with Medjugorje, one has to simply go there to experience the spirituality in that place. Once you have been there you will not stop going back. Even though it is not officially recognised (yet) by the Vatican, the daily morning English Holy Mass is celebrated by as many as 24 priests (one morning last week) and 2 deacons. The International Mass in the evening (in the open at the back of St James Church) is celebrated by as many as 50 to 100 priests and attended by thousands of pilgrims. I can go on and on and on but you have to simply get there to find out for yourself and you will then understand what I am trying to tell you. Do travel with Joe Walsh Tours as I can fully recommend them.

Our visit was wonderful to this beautiful site of apparitions of Our Lady to visionaries. We stayed with a woman we had never met who was recommended by a friend who knew her. The daily room rate was very reasonable and the two meals a day she served us were outstanding. We were advised to call on a certain cab driver named Chano. He was extremely helpful and even took us to a swimming place surrounded by water falls. He stayed with us and I felt he was watching over us. The food in all the restaurants was spectacular and the service very friendly and Reasonably priced. The hike up the mountain was extremely challenging but we laughed to see old ladies go past us. People from all over the world and lots of opportunities to go to Mass and confession. Very spiritual experience.

Really had a memorable pilgrimage to this simple yet very warm place. The people are so friendly and always ready to help. People from all over the world make this place a real paradise.

Međugorje is the most famous catholic sanctuary in Balkans. We were very excited, expecting to feel some kind of spiritual experience. Nothing really happened. Place has grown large and very commercial. Lot of shops and restaurants. We have visited the hill of apparition, church and statue of Jesus with dripping knee. It was very nice trekking on apparation hill. We went there while still was hot, and it was nice and with just few people there. But when we were returning, downwards, a lot of groups started to crawl up, and it was very crowded and not so nice.

Had to come here on a work trip and had to spend a week here - I am not religious but respect all religions but this place gave me the utter creeps. I tried to participate and went to two apparitions and had women collapsing screaming like the devil in front of me, it really was like something out of the Exorcist - didn't like it. What I did like was that it was cheap - the weather was amazing. There are lots of Holy Joe Crazies around but the majority of people were friendly, open and there for some time out which I do respect. It is over touristy with shop after shop of holy hardware. Drinks and food cheap and so were the clothes. If you are religious and this time of Shrine hopping appeals to you - you will enjoy this. If you are not religious then really do not bother. I swore I would never return and I had people telling me that it draws you back - I was offered to go again with work a month ago and politely declined so that didn't ring true. It was 45degrees when I was there and little or no air con! I spent a lot of time by the local pool just trying not to bake! The locals are not that friendly either - they are the type that once they get your money want you to piss off - they are no longer interested.

“Medjugorje with Joe Walsh Tours” Review of Medjugorje

I would highly recommend the Irish Pilgrimage to Medjugorje run by JWT. Having been once with them and once on my own steam, I can confirm that it is much better with Joe Walsh Tours. The only reason I didn't go with them the second time is because the dates didn't suit. Philip and the other guides are truly amazing and will help you get the most out of your stay, not only spiritually, but practically as well.

I was there for 5 days with a religious retreat; I was all over Medjugorje. The weather (March 18-22 '2013), was cold and rainy; however, it was filled with tourists and truly devoted people. It was an amazing experience. I truly recommend Medjugorje; moreover, if you want a spiritual trip to get closer to religion.

I think it must be one of the most peaceful places on earth. The weather was warm and sunny in late November, but very cold at night, so wrap up then. Well worth a visit.

This is a money can't buy experience. I had been to Medjugorje 4 times already. Brought me closer to God, this place is like a school of Mother Mary. Many conversion, many miracle, much peace, just can't described by words. Just Go, you will see it yourself.

A bit toooo busy lots of travellers - mainly Italians - little Italy. I am not going to lie but it is too commercial. More of individuals wanting to make money as opposed to feel the experience of a true pilgrimage. I highly recommend this place for prayer, miracles and getting closer to God and Our Lady.

Cashel Active Retirement are holding their meeting on Friday 5th April at 2.30pm in Halla na Feile, Cashel.

Galbally National School Parents Association will host a community breakfast on Sunday 14th April in Galbally Community Centre after 10.30am Mass. All funds raised will go towards the cost of extracurricular activities and buses for the school. Thank you for your continuing support.

A meeting will be held in Templeneiry Church, Bansha on Wednesday April 10th at 7.30pm for those interested in forming a Community First Responder Group. Training will be provided. Attending the meeting will be the Community First Responder Co-Ordinator from the National Ambulance Service. Also in attendance will be a member of the Newcastle First Responder Group to explain how they run their group in conjunction with the National Ambulance Service.
