Stoney Roads is the quintessential stop for everything Electronic Music.
It looks like you're using an ad blocker. That's cool! We get it :) You can support us by sharing this story or following us on Facebook.
Apashe talks about his upcoming Aus/NZ tour, future collabs and his origins making hardcore!
Bass warrior and all round legend Apashe blesses the shores of Australia and New Zealand yet again for a seven stop tour, and was generous enough to shed some light on collaborations, what he’ll be up to in his down time, and his modest roots.
If you aren’t familiar with Apashe, here’s one of my personal faves:
STONEY ROADS: Hey there Apashe! You’re touring Australia and New Zealand shortly for seven shows, what are you bringing with you? What are your touring must haves?
APASHE: Hey! Super stoked for this tour. Had the chance to come last year and it was awesome; can’t wait to do it again! What I’m bringing with me? Well nothing too weird, the usual but most importantly my hard drive and a good pair of headphones so I can still work on my music while traveling. On the weirder side, I just crossed the borders with a banana. It felt quite strange to declare such thing like it was some kind of super illegal item. Got lucky the Australian customs, they let me in anyway!
SR: What will you be doing in your down time?
A: I’m going to hang with my ‘oz cunts’ and talk about how awkward it is to drive on the left. Just kidding, probably going to work, have some beers and share musical knowledge with the fellow Australian producers like PhaseOne, Oski, Hydraulix.
SR: You took to Facebook to ask fans who you should collab with, what were some of the most popular responses?
A: The most popular response was definitely people writing ‘me’, haha, but that was expected. Otherwise the answers were very diverse, it’s difficult to spot the ones that popped more often. I saw Foreign Beggars, Kai Wachi, Aero Chord, Dope D.O.D, Snails, Noisia, Jauz quite a lot. I can already confirm that Kai Wachi will be in the album perhaps more from that list ;).
SR: Who would you most personally like to collab with?
A: Foreign Beggars, Noisia, Dope D.O.D and the homies Kai Wachi and Snails.
SR: In your recent Reddit AMA you told fans your album will have 10 new tracks, what kind of sound can we expect?
A: In that album I wanted to release all the tracks I made that sound too different to release in an EP or as singles. So expect a bit of everything, every genre from chill music to hard bangers.
SR: Which track of yours are you most proud of and why?
A: I would say ‘Kannibalen’ because it was more a personal challenge. I made it after the music video was shot. I had to recreate the mood of the visuals with sounds and melodies. These were in asian scales and the sound design was complicated, pretty much all the basslines were made out of horns to have a real acoustic texture rather than synthetic, then resampled lots times. But since the album is almost ready I can say the upcoming tracks are the ones I’m most proud of!
SR: Where’s been your favourite place to play?
A: It really depends, it’s different everywhere. I love playing in the US for its energy however in Australia people seems to enjoy the music so much it’s awesome to be part of this!
SR: What’s your most memorable show?
A: New Year’s Eve in Brussels, it was super fun. I’m originally from there and had the chance to have my friends over from Montreal with me, which is the city I’m currently living in. All my friends from different countries partying all together with an awesome crowd for NYE; that’s memorable I can tell you!
SR: What would you say influences your sound?
A: Everything really, movies I watch, people I meet and music I hear on purpose or not. I believe today it’s difficult to filter out things around you from influencing you. We are so connected and see so much information daily, it’s hard to know what influences you in particularly. Sadly I believe it’s one of the reason’s why everyone sounds the same these days.
SR: You’re based in Montreal, what’s the bass music scene like over there?
A: The Montreal scene is awesome, not necessarily bass but in general. I find that people have good taste and are loyal. It’s not always because it’s trending that people like it. I find in some other places people tend to just follow whatever is ‘cool’ to follow. The shows are epic too, the energy you can get there is incomparable.
SR: Speaking of Montreal, you studied electro-acoustics, how did you get from there to where you are now?
A: After studying electro-acoustics I worked 2 years in Studios now called the Apollo Studios. Worked as a Sound Designer and music writer mainly for post production. That really taught me how to make any kind of music and specifically work hard and fast. Wouldn’t have made it in the music industry without that experience.
SR: You’ve been making music for quite some time now, what did your older music sound like?
A: Like shit! Ahaha depends, it’s been so long indeed I went through lots of different phases. I started making really hard music like Breakcore, Hardcore etc… Then I slowed it down to Trash Electro and Dubstep and now I think I make a bit of everything.
SR: Are there still some similarities between it and what you produce now?
A: Yes definitely, I still use techniques for drums that I used while making Breakcore. Also to get some inspiration I love to jam with the Electribe Korg Emx which is an old machine people used a lot for Hardtek Psy Trance back in the days.
SR: What are three tracks you’ve had on repeat recently?
A: Don’t Wanna Fight by Alabama Shakes
Brighter by Rufus Du Sol
The Heat by Jungle
SR: Let’s talk about the twerking video craze that was associated with your track ‘No Twerk’, what did you think of that?
A: I was wondering why people twerked on a track called ‘No Twerk’. It was kind of a joke, I think it’s funny and the some of the videos were so cool I can’t dislike it!
SR: What was your favourite video?
A: The dance of Miguel and his Team on the Russian version of ‘So you think you can dance’.
SR: You’re very young to be so successful, where do you see yourself five years from now?
A: Not sure, I want to do so many things! I will definitely never stop making music, as my main job or for fun.
SR: And lastly, what’s next for you, Apashe?
A: Conquer the world with joy and happiness! Haha. Make more music and have breakfast I’m super hungry right now. Cheers!

Apashe to Embark on 29-Date ‘Antagonist’ Tour With Brass Orchestra Across in Celebration of New Album
Apashe celebrates the upcoming fall release of his new album ‘antagonist’ by announcing a 29-date tour complete with a brass orchestra..
In anticipation of his new album ‘Antagonist,’ the genre-bending producer Apashe is at large. After releasing the new single “Gasoline” earlier this year, excitement has been building for the artist who recently announced the 29-date ‘Antagonist’ tour kicking off in Denver on October 7.
Stopping in every major North American city, Apashe’s tour will be accompanied by a live eight-piece brass orchestra complete with French horns, trombones, and trumpets. Known for fusing melodic symphonies with upbeat electronica and hints of hip-hop, the Canada-based producer is going all in with this full-spectrum show.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by 𝖆 𝖕 𝖆 𝖘 𝖍 𝖊 (@apashe)
Apashe has been teasing the tour on socials even before releasing the first track of his album in April. “Gasoline” features Dehli hip-hop artist Raga and is a balance between mystifying darkness and futuristic groove. Synonymous with the suspense of his ‘Antagonist’ album set to release this fall, the producer’s music is renowned for weaponizing the element of surprise.
Presale is in full swing and members of Apashe’s Majestic Squad are already gearing up for the experience. In response to the ticket release, a fan on Twitter commented, “I was right on that 1st thing this morning.. got my ticket to the Pittsburgh show..!!!” Another fan said, “Tickets secured! See you in DC!!!”
Behind the household Apashe name is mastermind John De Buck. The Belgian-born artist moved to Canada at 19 where he studied production and quickly found success in sound design. Heard in iconic fashion campaigns, films, and video games like John Wick, Yves Saint Laurent, Netflix , Marvel, Fast & Furious, and more, his music is a force to be reckoned with in mainstream and underground realms.
Recent sets at Bonnaroo , Electric Forest , Rampage Openair in Belgium, and Main Stage Festival in France may have gotten a taste of ‘Antagonist,’ along with a compilation of his previous ‘ Renaissance ’ LP and ‘I Killed The Orchestra’ EP. However, the impressive caliber of his upcoming tour has yet to be experienced in its full glory. Coming to a major city near you, Apashe and his brass orchestra are taking over North America this fall with the ‘Antagonist’ tour.
Find the ‘Antagonist’ tour date nearest to you here . Listen to Apashe and Raga’s new single “Gasoline” below.

Apashe is a 25-year-old electronic music producer from Brussels, now established in Montreal. Since signing to Kannibalen Records in 2011, he’s released a steady stream of bass-heavy anthems that showcase his expert sound design and next level sampling. Songs like “Skeleton Dance” and “Tank Girls” showcase his fine ear when it comes to upbeat party hits. Meanwhile, his classic hybrid style couldn’t be better exemplified by “Good Bye,” “I’m A Dragon and “Trap Requiem.” Apashe’s music has gained international recognition with top 3 appearances on iTunes singles chart in Russia with “No Twerk,” and placement in several adidas ad campaigns with “Battle Royale.” Apashe also distinguishes himself with his unique live performance in which he recreates his tracks alongside a full arsenal of unreleased edits, as well as his batch of official remixes and originals. He has toured around the world over the years, including stops in Europe, Australia, Asia and North America with his 2015 Black Gold Tour, and the 2016 BTSM Church Tour with label owners Black Tiger Sex Machine and labelmate Dabin. Apashe’s biggest project to date was his debut album, Copter Boy, released through Kannibalen Records on September 30th, 2016. Apashe is the most successful Kannibalen artist in regards to music sales and licensing, as he has seen partnerships with the likes of adidas, Budweiser, HBO, Sony, UFC, MTV and more. These placements, along with his continued support from music publications and international touring recognition (150+ shows in two years), Apashe has managed to gain over 35 million online streams.

The Modernized AH-64 Apache
Empowering multi-domain operations with lower risk and cost efficiency.
April 22, 2024 in Defense
At the forefront of Army aviation, the AH-64 Apache has proven its mettle as a versatile attack and reconnaissance helicopter. Look no further than the latest variant of the Apache – the AH-64E Version 6 (v6) – which brings enhanced lethality, survivability and connectivity to the battlefield.
As the U.S. Army seeks to modernize its fleet, there’s not a better attack and reconnaissance helicopter in the world that meets or exceeds their capability, cost and schedule objectives. Here’s why:
Multi-Domain Operations Capability
Designed for interoperability within the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) ecosystem, the Modernized Apache builds on combat-proven AH-64E v6 technologies so that the Army can leverage the platform’s existing strengths and seamlessly integrate it into future MDO strategies. Operating at the tactical edge with advanced avionics, integrated sensors and lethal firepower, the Modernized AH-64 provides Army Aviation with greater flexibility and interoperability to see first, act first and win the fight.
Download Product Card
Starting with Proven Success
When it comes to modernization efforts, minimizing risk is paramount – and the Modernized Apache offers a lower risk solution than alternative efforts. With a proven track record and extensive operational experience, the Apache's modernization doesn’t come with untested technologies or an unproven design. Rather, it leverages the AH-64E v6 – which represents the Army’s most heavily networked aircraft and the only one capable of conducting integrated Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) for both Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and lethal effects. By building upon this solid foundation, the Modernized Apache reduces uncertainties and potential setbacks, providing the U.S. Army with a smoother transition and faster deployment of an upgraded fleet.
Affordable Dominance
The Modernized AH-64 offers a compelling advantage in terms of acquisition and operational expenses. By modernizing the existing Apache fleet, the U.S. Army can significantly reduce upfront costs associated with developing an entirely new aircraft. Additionally, the Apache's established logistics infrastructure and maintenance expertise translates into lower operational expenses, ensuring long-term affordability.
Leveraging the Legacy
Choosing the AH-64 Apache for modernization allows for a streamlined training and transition process. With an extensive pool of experienced pilots and maintenance personnel already familiar with the Apache, the U.S. Army can minimize the time and resources required for retraining. Units converting to Modernized Apache can transition within months, not years, of receiving new aircraft – ensuring seamless integration into existing operational units and maximizing efficiency and readiness.
MOSA-Enabled Future Growth
A Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA) approach to mission computing and systems delivers never-before seen agility and speed in integrating new technologies and capabilities, ensuring unmatched lethality, networking and survivability to stay ahead of emerging and evolving threats. With the AH-64E v6.5 serving as the Army’s first MOSA-compliant enduring aircraft, the Modernized Apache can integrate already-tested technologies and capabilities that weren’t originally on the aircraft within months instead of years.
The Most Affordable, Achievable Solution for Tomorrow’s MDO Decision Dominance
The Modernized AH-64 presents a compelling value proposition for the U.S. Army's Operational Imperative efforts. The Modernized Apache brings combat-proven reach, versatility, survivability and lethality – and makes them even greater – resulting in an MDO capable, low-risk, affordable and achievable solution. By choosing to modernize the Apache, the U.S. Army can leverage existing strengths, reduce uncertainties and ensure a swift and cost-effective transition to an upgraded fleet for its attack and reconnaissance mission.

*The tour wants to give fans, not scalpers, the best chance to buy tickets at face value. To make this possible they have chosen to use Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange. If fans purchase tickets for a show in the U.S. or Canada and can’t attend, they’ll have the option to resell them to other fans at the original price paid. To help protect the Exchange, the tour has requested all tickets be mobile only and restricted from transfer. This applies to all shows except those in Colorado, Illinois, and New York where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated. Please note, a valid bank account or debit card within the country of your event is required to sell on the Face Value Exchange. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Golf Australia signs deal with LIV in first partnership with Saudi-backed tour
- Cameron Smith’s Ripper GC and LIV to help fund junior program
- PGA of Australia still aligned with DP World Tour
LIV Golf has struck a deal to help fund Golf Australia’s junior program, in the first formal relationship between the steward of the game in Australia and the Saudi Arabia-backed entity.
The arrangement – which involves LIV and its Ripper GC franchise of Australian players led by Cameron Smith – has been in negotiations for weeks.
A formal announcement is expected in the coming days to coincide with the LIV tournament in Adelaide, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald .
The deal sees LIV and Ripper GC make it cheaper for some children to access My Golf, the junior program run by GA.
GA also has staff working on a My Golf activation in Adelaide this week alongside the LIV tournament promotions.
In 2022-23, 33,000 children participated in My Golf, according to GA’s annual report, a figure that grew 22% on the previous year.
The cost of My Golf varies depending on the location and type of program. A single after school session can cost less than $50, but a regular hit over a school term is priced in the hundreds of dollars.
GA’s decision to accept the subsidies from LIV is the first major step by Australia’s golf establishment towards the upstart tour.
The PGA of Australia (PGAA), the body representing tournament and club professionals and organiser of the Australasian Tour, is still aligned with LIV rival the DP World Tour.
As manager of the game in Australia GA’s remit is on building participation and the body receives funding from the federal government.
However, GA and the PGAA have largely combined operations, adding a layer of complexity to the deal.
GA’s chief executive, James Sutherland, said last month Australia looked at LIV differently from other parts of the world.
after newsletter promotion
“There’s clearly an ‘anti’ or a conservative sentiment about the Saudis in the US, and the further east you go on a world map from America, the more moderate the views are,” he said.
LIV commissioner Greg Norman said on Wednesday he was “very proud” of investments his organisation was making into golf generally.
“If it wasn’t for LIV, these additional investment dollars going into the sport would never have happened,” he said.
In excess of 80,000 people are expected to attend the LIV Adelaide tournament this weekend.
Norman has described the Adelaide event as the “benchmark” for LIV worldwide. LIV golf is funded by Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund.
