What Star Trek Titles Are Streaming on Netflix?

Alex Hirlam What's on Netflix Avatar

Star Trek is a name that almost everyone recognizes, it has been around for decades and has inspired millions around the world. It’s had extensive coverage in all manner of media formats but one of the biggest has been its TV and movie presence. Since its inception, there have been 726 individual Star Trek episodes spread out across decades. We’ve also seen 13 feature-length movies too.

We are also lucky enough to welcome a new Netflix Original  Star Trek: Discovery. The first new Star Trek TV show in 16 years will be coming to UK Netflix on the 25th of September (with new episodes releasing every Monday). But for our viewers from the United States, the show will debut on September 2nd on CBS  and made available on their streaming service, CBS All Access.

The new show stars  The Walking Dead ‘s Sonequa Martin-Green as Burnham, first officer of  The Discovery . The series is set 10 years before the original ventures of Kirk and Spock of the Enterprise.

The premise for the majority of the shows stays relatively similar. It takes place throughout the Universe onboard an intergalactic ship, For example, the Enterprise or the Voyager. Over the years we have been introduced to many crews, comprised of different actors and actresses. There is much debate on which adaptation of Star Trek is the best, but one thing is for sure. It has developed a cult following and even has a university degree dedicated to learning the language in the show.

As the Star Trek universe has expanded, it has become increasingly more difficult to keep track of all the content streaming on Netflix. But don’t worry, we’re here to cover every Star Trek title currently available, due to release in the future, and has sadly left our Netflix screens.

How to stream the Star Trek Movies in the US

How to stream the star trek tv shows in the us, how to stream the star trek movies in the uk, how to stream the star trek tv shows in the uk.

Here's our Star Trek streaming guide, so you know where to go boldly where you've never gone before... Without leaving your sofa. We've come up with this Star Trek streaming guide because since the first ever episode aired back in 1966, there's been  a huge number of additions into the franchise.

Star Trek is currently in a bit of a purple patch for content as Paramount Plus , which is the home of all things Star Trek, is responsible for several new shows in recent years. But, it's not just new content, you'll also find where to stream the classics both movies and TV series below.

Before, Star Trek content was scattered all around different streaming services and searching for what you wanted to watch could feel like hunting for a cloaked Bird of Prey. However, these days you're able to stream all Star Trek content out there on Paramount Plus. However, we do have round-ups of the best sci-fi movies and TV shows on Netflix , Disney Plus and Amazon if you want to check them out.

You can also check out our take on the Star Trek movies, ranked so you know which movies to beam up onto your device. While Paramount Plus has everything Star Trek out there, you can find the odd bit of content on other platforms. So, below you'll find where you can watch what, regardless of where you're based, in our Star Trek streaming guide.

The Star Trek movies can be divided into three tidy groups: the original cast, the Next Generation cast, and the reboot cast. All of them can be found on Paramount+. However, Paramount+ isn't the only place you can stream the movies and in some cases you can rent or buy from places such as Amazon .

Here’s how to stream the Star Trek movies in the U.S., in order of release:

Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Paramount+ Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan — Paramount+ Star Trek III: The Search for Spock — Paramount+ Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home — Paramount+ Star Trek V: The Final Frontier — Paramount+ Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country — Paramount+ Star Trek: Generations — Paramount+ Star Trek: First Contact — Paramount+ Star Trek: Insurrection — Paramount+ , Spectrum Star Trek: Nemesis — Paramount+   Star Trek (2009) — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek Into Darkness — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek Beyond — Paramount+ , DIRECTV , Freevee

When it comes to Star Trek on the small screen, you can find them all in one place. Paramount+ not only has every episode of every legacy Trek show, it’s also the home of all the new Star Trek programming, such as Picard and Strange New Worlds. If you’re a Trekkie, you absolutely want to have Paramount+ to keep up with the object of your affection. A word of warning though, other streaming platforms may only have select episodes or series to stream.

Star Trek: The Original Series — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek: The Next Generation — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek: Deep Space Nine  — Paramount+ , Sling , Spectrum Star Trek: Voyager — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek: Enterprise — Paramount+ Star Trek: Discovery — Paramount+ , DIRECTV Star Trek: Picard — Paramount+ Star Trek: Short Treks — Paramount+ Star Trek: Lower Decks — Paramount+ Star Trek: Prodigy — Paramount+ ,   DIRECTV , FuboTV , Spectrum Star Trek: The Animated Series — Paramount+ Star Trek: Strange New Worlds — Paramount+

Now that Paramount+ has arrived in the U.K, streaming Star Trek is a lot easier. You can view most of the movies on the streaming platform. Star Trek Beyond is the exception but that can be found on Amazon Prime. If you're not prepared to subscribe to Paramount+, the movies are available to rent or buy from a number of different platforms.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Paramount+ Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan — Paramount+ Star Trek III: The Search for Spock — Paramount+ Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home — Paramount+ Star Trek V: The Final Frontier — Paramount+ Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country — Paramount+ Star Trek: Generations — Paramount+ Star Trek: First Contact — Paramount+ Star Trek: Insurrection — Paramount+ Star Trek: Nemesis — Paramount+ Star Trek (2009) — Paramount+ , Amazon Prime Star Trek Into Darkness — Paramount+ , Amazon Prime Star Trek Beyond — Amazon Prime

Star Trek: The Next Generation - Picard, Ryker, and Troi

Now that Paramount+ has reached those across the pond, the U.K. can enjoy streaming Star Trek shows as well. Netflix is also another great option to fulfil your Trekkie viewing needs, especially if you're interested in checking out Star Trek: The Animated Series, which is exclusive to Netflix.

However, for the likes of Picard and Lower Decks, you’ll have to hop on over to Amazon Prime. It's worth noting that platforms such as SkyGo may only have a select number of episodes or series to stream.

3 Star Trek Series Leaving Netflix In September, Signals Possible Move To Consolidate Franchise On Paramount+

star trek enterprise netflix uk

| August 26, 2021 | By: Anthony Pascale 54 comments so far

The library of Star Trek television series has been readily available on all the major streaming services in the USA for years, but it looks like those days may be coming to an end.

Netflix says goodbye to TOS, Voyager , and Enterprise

On Wednesday, Netflix announced all the shows coming and going from the service in September and three Star Trek shows were included, all of which will be leaving at the end of the month. Exiting Netflix are all three seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series , all seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager , and all four seasons of  Star Trek: Enterprise . So far, there is no word on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine .

Netflix was the first streaming service to license the Star Trek television catalog, having cut a deal in early 2011 . Four of the five Star Trek shows started streaming in July 2011 , with DS9 joining in October. Licensing deals for all five series were struck with Hulu and the Amazon Prime Video service in subsequent years. Star Trek: The Animated Series was available on Netflix and other services for a few years, but is currently only available on Paramount+.

Star Trek has been popular on Netflix, with Voyager being the most rewatched according to a Netflix release in 2017 . And of course Netflix partnered with CBS to create Star Trek: Discovery in 2017, with Netflix distributing it outside the USA and Canada.

Starting with its 2014 launch, all of the Star Trek shows were available for streaming on CBS All Access, which was relaunched by ViacomCBS as Paramount+ earlier this year. Paramount Plus is the exclusive home in the USA to three original Star Trek series ( Discovery , Picard , and Lower Decks ), with two more arriving over the next year (the animated kids series Prodigy and the live-action Strange New Worlds ).

Star Trek coming home to Paramount Plus?

Unlike feature films which have short licensing windows and move around, as we saw recently with a number of the Star Trek feature films , television licensing deals tend to be long term. The Star Trek shows have been on Netflix consistently for ten years. The same is true for Hulu and Amazon Prime since joining those streaming services. In theory, Netflix and ViacomCBS could renegotiate a license, however, industry trends indicate this is could be the beginning of the end for Star Trek shows being sold to other streaming services. If that is the case, DS9 and TNG will eventually leave Netflix when deals for those shows expire, and all five shows will drop out of Hulu and Amazon as well; as of now, there are no details on if or when this will happen.

Assuming this is the plan, it would leave Paramount Plus as the exclusive streamer for the Star Trek television library in the USA. This type of pulling back of licensed properties has been a trend in the industry: Warner Media did it with Friends on HBO Max and NBC Universal did the same with The Office and Parks and Recreation on Peacock. ViacomCBS is also doing this with other shows. For example, Evil is also exiting Netflix in September. In June that series moved from the CBS Broadcast Network to become a Paramount Plus original series with a brand new season.

While not explicitly calling out Star Trek, ViacomCBS has made it clear they are pivoting away from their previous policy of aggressively licensing their content. Earlier this month when speaking about the latest quarterly results, CEO Bob Bakish noted that licensing revenue had fallen due in part to “ongoing efforts to limit licensing to third-party streaming services.”

As of now, there is no indication that ViacomCBS is pulling back on licensing Star Trek internationally, where all the series are still available on Netflix and other streaming services. ViacomCBS has also partnered with Netflix and Amazon to stream some of their new Star Trek shows internationally. However, in the long term, as Paramount Plus expands globally, the Star Trek franchise may eventually follow the same pattern seen in the USA.

TrekMovie has reached out to both ViacomCBS and Netflix and we are awaiting comment.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Talks Inspiration Of ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ And Captain Janeway; Kate Mulgrew Responds

That’s kind of annoying. I still usually use Netflix to watch Trek. I guess now I’ll have to use either Paramount +, Hulu, or Prime.

This news is NOT a bad thing!

The bad thing is paying Paramount+ and not having the whole Star Trek collection. Waiting to have all the movies and series in ONE place. :P

I have that. It’s called my bookshelf. :P

(I say this knowing some smartass will snag me on Lower Decks Season 2, Discovery Season 4, Picard Season 2 and Strange New Worlds Season 1)

Someone, I think here, sniped me for saying I like to have the option of streaming something I physically own when I’m away from home. But it’s true – I would happily visit a friend and watch a Star Trek movie with them one night. But I don’t want to suddenly have to subscribe to Showtime to do that.

True. Waiting for that moment. My issue is buying the latest digital format when (soon) will become obsolete. Eventually will begin to order the entire collection.

Same here. When all else fails you can always count on physical media.

Owning the physical media is still the best way to go.

I’m not the biggest Netflix fan, but they have the best interface, by far. It’s perfectly designed and intuitive. Paramount+ just slapped a new name on the ancient CBS All Access architecture. It’s a total mess, by far the worst streaming interface of them all. They only just added a friggin playlist feature! Even the selection of avatars is pathetic.

It’s not surprising that Trek is being used like this, it’s pattern behavior. But it would be nice if some effort was put into making P+ a halfway decent streamer.

Another negative about Paramount+ (and Peacock) is that it forgets what you have watched. I watched Lower Decks season 1 but if you looked now, it shows I haven’t watched any of the episodes. Netflix, HBO Max, Prime, Hulu, and Disney+ will remember what you have watched if you stop watching a series but return to it months later.

This will probably reduce further the number of people into Trek and turn fans like us only into a checkbook. Voyager’s late popularity AFIK is all Netflix based.

On the other hand… now… the fans…. Are in control!! Bwahahahaha!

While I do subscribe to Paramount plus to get the new shows, I’m doubly glad that I have my beloved TOS on BluRay.

Same here (and TAS, TNG , the first ten movies, the first season of Lower Decks , and the recent DS9 doc; I still need to get DS9 itself and Voyager on DVD and Enterprise on Blu-ray). Streaming is fantastically convenient, but physical media is still kind of a must for the “core” stuff one really cares about.

Why not just rip your whole Trek collection and stream it anywhere with Plex?

What is this “anywhere” of which you speak? :p

It’s a bit cumbersome, but you can download a Plex app to almost every smart TV and log in to your media server pc with Plex on it, and you can stream everywhere, in an emergency Trek withdrawal you can even stream to a mobile phone ;)

I figured, but I was more joking about “anywhere”, since I don’t really go places now the way I used to in The Before Times, way back in ancient 2019.

A lot of newer fans dropped in from Netflix in the last decade, they’d be wise to keep licensing. . I remember when the 2009 movie came out, more people than I had ever known were getting into it because of their availability.

I’m thinking that ViacomCBS will use Pluto to build the audience by offering the classic five live-action series and TAS for free with its advertising based streamer.

Pluto is doing very well in Latin America and the European countries where it launched.

As based video seems a natural successor to the years of syndicated Trek reruns many of us grew up with.

Still, it’s a double-edged sword to have to put up with ads vs. just continue using the most popular streaming service. I totally get the point of hoarding IP, feeding content to competitors is largely only good for short term gains at the expense of controlling distribution, and ViacomCBS doesn’t just have Paramount+ and Pluto to think about, it has its broadcast business which Netflix openly declared war on when it started producing original programming.

But I for one, if presented with the choice of Pluto or Netflix to get certain programming (especially a movie), would choose the latter every time, despite the price. I’m lucky to have that disposable income, but we have been lucky that CBS licensed Trek out so liberally a decade ago.

I don’t really want to shell out for Paramount+, until they have reliable new Trek content. Since I don’t own Enterprise or Voyager in a hard copy format, this is disappointing. So long as it’s still available on Amazon Prime though, I guess I’m okay. Those days seem numbered too though.

This happens as the streaming license is near its end. Plenty of time for Netflix and Paramount to renew the license. I really doubt very old episodes of ST is going to get more people subscribing to Paramount +.

Does Paramount+ have TOS with the original effects?

I wish, it bothers me I have to watch the crap CGI

They should have both if they’re going to be the home of STAR TREK. Right now I think Amazon Prime has both (the original and remastered).

Amazon does have both, thank you for pointing that out!

For quite awhile, Amazon was also the only place to get uncut Voyager season 5, everyone else had the US cuts which deleted scenes after delivery when UPN added more commercials mid-season.

It’s funny, I’ve had Amazon Prime for several years but I barely watch anything on it. Perhaps I should start!

Buy the BD. Then you will get a choice.

Whoa! Well… there we go. I think many of us had long wondered whether they’d continue to license the old stuff to other services indefinitely (non-exclusively, of course). Now we know.

Honestly, I can see benefits to either offering (non-exclusive) licenses for the older shows and movies to alternate services like Netflix, or bringing everything in-house to be exclusive to Paramount+; both paths can be part of viable strategies. Obviously, pulling everything back home makes P+ that much more of a vital, must-have service for fans of this franchise (the same way Disney+ is for fans of Marvel or Star Wars , say). OTOH, I could see having non-exclusive licenses for Trek being not only a great way to make more money from a variety of sources on the back catalogue, but also helping ensure the longevity of the franchise by making it easier for newcomers to the franchise to discover it and get hooked. Presumably Viacom has data indicating which is likelier to be more lucrative in the long-term.

Like others, though, I’m personally a bit disappointed. I have P+ for the new stuff, of course, but for streaming the older shows, I tend to prefer Netflix, simply because the interface is more comfortable, or even putting in physical discs like your great-great-great-great-grandfather used to. I guess eventually I’ll watch everything on P+, but man, Star Trek just felt like such a mainstay on Netflix for so long. I’m going to miss having it there.

Internationally it makes sense for them to keep selling the rights to new trek at least to other streaming services. Its their most expensive streaming franchise and they need the biggest return on it.

Paramount+ launched in Australia this month and there is no way they would make the same money streaming it themselves as they do selling it to the bigger services. I imagine after a few years of growth the new and old series will return home, if Paramount+ manages to gain a customer bases here.

But right now its early days

Rats, I am gonna miss the convenience of Trek on Netflix, it’s by far the most user-friendly of the streamers, light years ahead of P+. What always bothered me, though, was the “thumbnail” and “preview” for TOS – while other shows have carefully-crafted promos to hook you in, TOS had a poorly-formatted and boring clip from The Cage. Also all the thumbnail images for the episodes are of people, often very boring shots, which to me doesn’t seem very intuitive, considering a sci-fi show like Star Trek is often identified for its sci-fi imagery. I’d rather see a Gorn, the Fesarius, the Tholian Web in the thumbnail than some generic conference room still of the crew. It really feels like the people at Netflix have no idea how to make Star Trek look appealing.

I hate that DS9’s thumbnail on P+ is the only one that doesn’t feature the captain.

Man, I have Netflix almost just for the Star Trek content.

I would have no problem with this if Paramount+ had a better user interface. At least their streaming capacity is better these days.

One of the reasons my physical DVDs and BluRay are not going anywhere. I have ripped all my discs to hard drive, so it’s pretty convenient to watch Trek (and my other faves) as and when without having them suddenly disappear off the streaming services I subscribe to. But nothing beats physical media when it comes to picture and sound quality, which is still far better than anything ripped or available on streaming.

Actually very happy that they are finally starting to go exclusive to Paramount Plus. This makes getting a subscription a no brainer now as a diehard Trekkie. It was hard to justify subscribing year round to basically just to watch one show (because no new Trek overlaps, and during Covid there’s been big gaps). It also has Twilight Zone and old Trek, but I also had Amazon for those, and I get so much more on Amazon.

If Paramount Plus eventually becomes the exclusive home for Trek (and likely TZ too at some point)– and they now add the Paramount movie catalog, and make more new originals, it becomes all the more easier justify the $10 a month on top of Amazon (the only service I currently have)– or even to cancel Amazon entirely.

I am considering Disney Plus too at some point, but probably not until next year, when Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms Marvel, and Secret Invasion have released. Right now i’m happy to drive to my father’s place and watch those shows with him (which has been a nice tradition during Covid).

I was planning to start watching all of Star Trek on Netflix this weekend, which will take several weeks to complete. I’m outside the US, I just hope I have time to watch it all before they remove it here too.

So many Streaming Sites to choose from and all have a cost. I’ve Netflix and Disney+ and I am happy with these two. They have everything I need. But when Paramount+ goes international I am considering adding it to my list.

I’m glad I dropped Netflix 4 years ago. First they dropped MASH, then they dropped Cheers and now Star Trek. Netflix isn’t worth it any longer.

I think that Netflix will be losing the DC shows soon as well. Well, I still like Netflix’s documentaries, the The Toys that Made Us and the Movies that Made Us.

To be fair, they aren’t dropping Star Trek, the license holder — Paramount in this case — is pulling the show from Netflix for their own platform.

Glad I still have my DVDs and Blurays of everything.

So I’ll go back to the downloaded copies. Paramount+ or whatever they’ll call it next is ridiculous garbage.

My favorite shows are leaving I see it all the time

It’s not that disappointing because I have all the episodes of the first two series my favorites, which means now I will have to get the rest, which I had planned to do, anyhow!

Is the same happening on Netflix in Canada?

The shows are on BellMedia’s Crave in Canada.

Would be nice if we got some of the other TREK series streaming on PLUTO TV (owned by ViacomCBS) All we get is the THE NEXT GENERATION and it’s the same handful of episodes over-and-over!

Will this apply to Netflix UK (where we don’t have Paramount+)?

Not that big a deal. I have TOS discs and two seasons of Enterprise. Only DS9 would be a bit annoying as I am waiting (possibly forever) for DS9 on Blu ray. I don’t rely on streaming if it is something I want to see more than once.

I subscribed to Netflix 10 years ago, then I sold my Star Trek DVD collection. I may hold on to the subscription until they drop TNG and DS9, but I will definitely be unsubscribing from Netflix because of Star Trek.

Netflix is steadily becoming not worth the monthly fee

Trek Mate

Star Trek Enterprise Season 5 Netflix Campaign

Doug Drexler has started a campaign to bring an all new season of Star Trek: Enterprise back to Television, in this case through Netflix as a distributor.

Here is the description from the Facebook page :

When Star Trek: Enterprise was cancelled, it’s ratings were still good enough to keep it on the air. Studio and network politics were instrumental in it’s demise. So the voyages of the NX-01, with Captain Archer, Trip, T’Pol, and the rest of the crew ended just as the show was finally beginning to get it’s legs. Nearly all of us agree that the fourth and prematurely final season of Enterprise demonstrated that this show was a late bloomer.

A new day has dawned for the way television is produced. No longer do three networks decide what you get to watch. It started with cable. A place where the audience pays for the shows they love by subscribing. Now the next huge step has taken place. The ability to stream the shows you want, when you want them, from the Internet. Today, Netflix, Hulu, Kickstarter, and Amazon are challenging the way television is funded, and the way it is decided what gets made.

Enterprise S5 Netflix

Interesting things have happened in the last year. Netflix began producing original programming, bringing back popular shows that the stodgy old programming model had done away with. “Arrested Development” is back in production. “House of Cards” with Kevin Spacey is doing well. The producer of “Veronica Mars” raised 3 million dollars on Kickstarter to make a movie from a show that the network thought no one watched.

Can we get that fifth season of Enterprise which chronicles the Romulan War? See our crew back with a dazzling refit NX-01? Folk’s, It ain’t impossible. Throughout Star Trek’s history, it’s fans have moved mountains. We can do this, it’s it not that difficult. Watch Enterprise on Netflix. Even if you just run an episode while working around the house, that will build numbers, and attract attention. One thing we know for certain, the apparatus that brings us the shows we love will follow the money.

NX-01 Refit

JJ Abram’s is making Trek movies. If we’re lucky (and you enjoy his take on Gene Roddenberry’s masterpiece) we get one every 2-3 years. We’ve learned something from this Star Trek drought… we miss that golden age of Star Trek, with it’s intimate storylines. So gang, spread the word, share the FB page, and most of all, run Enterprise on Netflix. It ain’t over til it’s over, and we’re owed three more season of Enterprise. We can’t be afraid of the wind.

Brannon Braga also mentioned Netflix as a distributor when he was interviewed at Destination Star Trek London back in October 2012 when talking to TrekCore.com.

Just finished series 3 on DVDS, truly high quality, gritty and gripping. So much scope there. Enterprise deserves at least a final season of quality.

I love enterprise – I have seen all four season at least five times. I just never understand fans – if your a fan then you will always enjoy the effort why go into a show with some much criticism. But enterprise I was disappointed when it was cancelled, I enjoyed the journey- all the main characters were so interesting. They may have not been Kirk or Spock but they had charm and style, they were fit and gave the feeling of that old military mind set. I will always support Star Trek in all its forms, to watch men and women boldly go where one has gone before.

Would live to see a 5th season. A part of Star trek lore nor covered by any other show. Seemed like it had so much more to give.

You’re great! I hope to watch the fifth season… Star Trek Enterprise was becoming VERY interesting from the 4th season. They closed it too early.

It was the best Star Trek ever, they should do season 5, 6, 7….. I loved ENTERPRISE!!

December 7, 2017

Love the whole series 1-4 and was waiting on the 5th before I knew it had gotten canceled. The series were shown on an oldies but goodies TV channel when they started showing all six versions of Star Trek at 7 pm until 11 pm when Star Trek Enterprise came on. I was hooked an could not get enough. As a combat era Medic I enjoyed the potrial of T’Pol as.a highly skilled intelligent soldier assigned to a deplomatic yet dangerous mission where she was able to use her past experiences and blend them with new ones. This woman warrior showed courage under fire and fire in Love. Wish there was a Fifth season forT’Pol and Tripp.

I live in hope, that the morons that cancelled it due to the same shortsightedness of the 1960s realise the huge mistake and amend it before it’s to late,oh look we now have discovery,a complete apologetic appeasement show, that fits into Star Trek universe about as well as having an extra foot on a leg that is non existent, premise and content are generally good, story arcs and such, however it simply does not equate to anything seen before it,it may as well be called something else for example firefly 2.0,it’s a three sized Lego brick that fits nowhere, enterprise was genius and it came from the heart of Star Trek ,Rick Berman was selected by the great bird himself to carry the torch forward and into the next century,I think it’s time to admit defeat for the studio executives and to start listening to creative talent rather than number crunching pencil pushers, you may not earn huge profit over night, but for once look at the scope of the story, and over time the profits of their excellence in making enterprise will become apparent it’s called longevity if any of you dare to read this scathing attack on your lack of vision.

I’d love to see a fifth season. Thought it fit quite well with the Star Trek family of shows.

Enterprise was a great show and a season 5 could bring a lot of fun scenarios like the Borg Queen origins and more Romulan encoumters!

I hope Netfix does Season 5 of Enterprise

' src=

September 21, 2018

I’m sick to death of the powers that be deciding what’s worth a new season and what isn’t. Star Trek enterprise isn’t the first or the second tv series I have been enjoying only to have it stopped by the network because they weren’t making enough money from it.

' src=

November 3, 2018

I just entered season 4 of enterprise and must admit that the after 2 slow seasons, the story really took of. The character development is just fantastic.

I cannot understand why the series has been stopped after season 4. I have seen all previous star trek series, but this one is by far the best in terms of protagonists. I really hope and would also support a relaunch of the the series. Still many open questions remain unanswered. The potential is huge and compared to Star Trek Discovery, Enterprise really fills the gaps in the overall star trek story.

Netflix…go for it! The Star Trek community will be grateful.

' src=

I just finished season 3 of the series and frankly speaking, apart from the financial issues, I do not understand at all why the series has been canceled. I have seen all Star Trek series including Discovery season 1. I missed Enterprise back in the early 2000’s. After 2 relatively slow seasons, the 3rd season of Enterprise is very very good. The development of the Trip-T’Pol relationship is flawless. The change of Archer from a sole researcher to a person, who sometimes has to abandon basic principles of moral and ethics is very well depicted.

I even tend to say that this is the best Star Trek series so far. The character development is fantastic, the storyline exciting. Furthermore, it fills many gaps in the Star Trek history. There is even much more potential, if the Romulan War, the build of the federation etc will be put into a season 5 and maybe even season 6. This might also close the gap between Enterprise and ST Discovery.

In conclusion, I can just say…NETFLIX, GO FOR IT!! The ST community will surely be greatful.

Mesajımın Google Translate çevirisi (Google Translate translation of my message):

I’ve watched Star Trek Enterprise’s 3 seasons at Netflix, and I’m in episode 20 in season 4. So I’ve watched about 80 episodes so far and I’ve got three chapters left. I enjoyed all the episodes of this series, except maybe a few episodes, and I was very pleased that the film had a philosophical background. For those who have such a background in science fiction films are rare. I’m sorry to hear that I will not be brought back when I do research on the internet by wondering about the fate of this series. If I see that many series of films that do not make a lot of money have twice the season and section, I can say that the producers and directors are the least shame. I think I have the right to ask you for at least one or even a few seasons with these feelings and thoughts. In the hope that those who think like me are not scarce, if you decide something like this, you will sail the Enterprise out of our galaxy and protect its philosophical background. Such an approach will also bring a new breath to the film. I’m sure that …

I was born in the 80s so I have grown up with these films.I do have to admit that I also love star trek enterprise and would love to see it brought back as it does have unfinished Work.

I honestly didn’t think ST Enterprise would be any good, set before kirk, thought it would never pull off. Saw a couple of episodes and amazingly got hooked. So much so purchased the complete boxset on Blu Ray. Nearly finished Season 3, just taking my time, they are brilliant. Please bring them back. But fancy pulling the plug on a successful series, so dumb asses about I guess.

February 6, 2019

It’s never to late to bring back star trek enterprise. They never gave it a chance.

' src=

Just been binging on Enterprise I had never seen it before, this is THE BEST star trek series ever made, with EXCELLENT imaginative stories and writing, I say this a HUGE science fiction reader.

PLEASE MAKE MORE!

March 18, 2019

We would love to see another season of Star Trek Enterprise. We enjoyed it initially and are watching each episode again on Netflix. Truly a quality programme and different from the other Star Trek series which are not quite so good to watch again. Do bring it back – it should not have been cancelled so quickly.

I think we need Star Trek Enterprise now more than ever. Bring it back.

Espero que esta vez el capitán Archer se atreva a demostrar sus sentimientos a T’pol y vice versa.

I watched Star Trek and Generations when i was growing up with my Dad, I loved it. In my late teens i watched Voyager and (less) DS9 . In my early 20`s i became totally engrossed with Star Trek Enterprise. Best acting, best graphics, best sets, best stories, best cast of any Star Trek TV series.

I loved the new look, the closeness to our own reality and generation, Captain Archer felt real, the technology felt feasible, the stories were great, the characters and acting brilliant.

And then, just as the story of Enterprise, Archer and the crew got going it was taken away.

Now me and my 3 year old are reliving the series on Netflix, which he loves. Its going to be hard to explain to him why the story just stops. Netflix please make season 5!! You could explain the actors ageing with the Temporal Cold War story arch pretty easily. Although I am sure Scott Bakula, Connor Trinneer, Dominic Keating & Jolene Blalock all look fantastic still.

SEASON 5,6,7,8 COULD/WOULD BE SO SO SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE POOR LATEST ATTEMPT TO REVIVE THE TV TREK. ONLY GOOD THING WAS PIKE! SO BRING BACK ENTERPRISE!!!!!

' src=

July 19, 2019

I’m 68 and grew up with Star Trek and revisit all every now and again thru Netflix. I wasn’t sure I’d like Enterprise but started watching and just finished season 3 and now looking to see when season 5 comes out and very disappointed that it hasn’t yet. I don’t get out much any more medical issues and sure enjoy my TV so please bring back Enterprise while I’m still here to enjoy it.

' src=

July 20, 2019

I love this incarnation of Star Trek. Was crushed when it was canceled. We had a chance to see the federation romulan war, and it was taken away! Enterprise had everything that the current incarnation of Trek has tried to capture and failed.

Its not every day that you have a cast with such great chemistry. Bring back Enterprise please.

' src=

September 16, 2019

Discovery is a pale imitation of Star Trek – a new series of ‘Enterprise’ would be so much more popular and needs to be made. There’s so much more story for them to tell! Come on Nextflix!

' src=

September 28, 2019

I am in my late 60s so I have been watching and enjoying Star Trek for most of my life. I have not had much of a chance to enjoy these fantasies over the past decade and a half and always wanted to see what Enterprise was all about.

I finally had the chance over the last couple months to enjoy the show through Netflix and quickly became hooked on it. I just finished Season 3 and loved what they had done with the storyline.

I knew that there are only four seasons total, so I asked the question what happened to Season 5. I was intrigued by the possibility that it might get picked up by Netflix and continue for another few seasons. I think that it is an effort that would have remarkable success on this platform and an incredible way for Netflix to bounce back strong after losing Marvel to Disney. Along with Star Wars, Star Trek is one of the great science fiction storylines of all time.

I urge all fans out there to let Netflix know how strong the base of support is for this project. Season 5 with the Romulan Wars could jumpstart a whole new generation of fans clamoring for more and could do for Netflix what Star Wars will be doing for Disney.

Please make series 5 Nextflicks! I’d love to see how R3P20 and the Woogie get along,…

April 24, 2020

I for the most part Liked Enterprise. Yes it was not as good as Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, or even Voyager. Most people who disliked Enterprise have criticized it for looking more advanced then the Original that was going to take place one hundred years later. I never had a problem with that because I was able to see them from the time when they wore made (I.E. The Original in the 1960’s Enterprise in the early 2000’s) I would have liked to see it follow the same episodic tone of the others, but it was ground breaking in it’s modern day approach The only problem I would have is I would like to see it return to FREE T.V. and not a streaming service

We have been contracted to write a Revival Star Trek Enterprise script. We have a great premise and some surprises too! We have a production facility, crew standing by along with tax credits from the state of Colorado. We are seeking funding as well but would like to join in a campaign to raise awareness and money for development funds.

I grew up watching Star Trek my whole entire life I quite simply love them all there are NO bad episodes from any series as far as I’m concerned and as for ENTERPRISE! it is truly a masterpiece. I’m so incredibly inspired and totally engrossed in the characters these fine actors have portrayed and the overwhelming emotions they have created, the thought of not continuing with a season 5 and beyond is deeply saddening on many levels. There are many lessons for humanity to learn from this show it would be utterly irresponsible not to continue. Even for those people who are not particularly interested in Science fiction could learn a thing or two from the wonderful stories these amazing writers have imagined and meticulously put together. Whoever you are If not for us old loyal Trekies then do it for the future generations to follow. I would pay a fee to Netflix or anyone just for this series alone. PLEASE make it happen.

May 3, 2021

Would love a season 5, Enterprise was one of the better Star Trek shows.

' src=

August 21, 2021

Please bring Enterprise back, it was just getting better and better in series 3 and 4. Should have never been cancelled!!

September 28, 2021

I saw Star Trek Enterprise on TV and loved it I bought it on Blue Ray. I didn’t know anything about the show when it first aired. I was never promoted properly. Common sense should tell TV executives there must be something to the show if new and old fans are asking for the show to be brought back. This for me is the best Star trek series. I will only watch Enterprise. Bring back Star Trek Enterprise

' src=

February 3, 2022

when season 4 was being transmitted in the uk, there was a campaign to raise money by fans for a 5th season $30,000,000 was required by the studio fans actually managed to raise approx $3,000,000, never found out what happened to the money, but i bought the dvd box set a few years ago and usually binge watch the entire boxset, then usually follow it with the original series

February 21, 2022

Now with the next star trek series Strange new worlds, now would be the time to continue with star trek enterprise season five. They already had the story lines for season 5. They would have to recast the actors as I’m sure the would all come back in a heart beat.

' src=

May 22, 2022

I have been watching star trek for years. I was happily watching discovery on Netflix when it was abruptly stopped. I then found enterprise, what a find. I never knew it existed in till recently but I’m disappointed they stopped after series 4. If they already have the story lines for series 5 now is the time to make them, I’m sure key actors would take the opportunity to reprise their roles and show how the events mentioned in the end of series episode came about. Please bring back Archer, T’pol, Hoshi and the rest.

June 20, 2022

I haven’t seen strange new worlds, the studio is keeping it from UK at the moment. I believe it is set 100 years after enterprise, by coincidence Defiant went back 100 years when it entered the mirror universe. Couldn’t T’pol escape and travel through the rift 100 years into the future to the normal universe. Trip could help her and other characters could join them or chase after them. Once in the normal universe, normal T’pol who is 100 years older would have strange ‘dreams of mirror T’pol and also Trip who she lost so tragically in that crazy last episode. The two T’pols could meet and normal T’pol could see her sole mate again. Then a quick mind meld could bring everyone up to date. The mirror world characters could take posts in Starfleet with their personalities adapting.

' src=

March 12, 2023

I somehow missed this show when it first aired. I have watched all the other ST series and was intrigued by the time setting. I have grown to love all the characters in this amazing show. I was deeply saddened when I learned it had been cancelled after only 4 seasons. I would be so happy to see the show brought back to life! There’s so much more story to tell with this amazing cast!

' src=

July 6, 2023

The series deserves respect. Its a really good show. With a story which is unfinished. There is a market for it. Recently watched start to finish, TNG, DS9. Now onto enterprise season 4. I prefer enterprise, as they don’t have a perfect ship, they don’t have polished characters, they are trying to do the best they can with what they have got. Which makes the show more realistic and enjoyable.

The date is set: Netflix and Star Trek are done

The end of an era...

Deep Space Nine

Ever since the launch of its own streaming service, Paramount Plus, Paramount has slowly been reclaiming its shows and pulling them off rival streaming platforms.

One of the longest goodbyes has been to the plethora of the company's Star Trek shows and movies, which have existed on other streaming platforms for almost a decade.

Netflix has, at one time or another, had access to six Star Treks series, but Paramount has slowly drawn them back, one by one. This started all the way back at the end of 2019, with the departure of Star Trek : The Animated Series, which was followed in October 2021 by the exit of the original series, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Star Trek: Voyage. Then, in April of this year, Netflix subscribers said goodbye to Star Trek: The Next Generation , and now, the last of the shows has an end date.

That one remaining show is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which is finally leaving Netflix on July 2, a full decade after it first appeared on the platform.

Deep Space Nine ran between 1993 and 1999 with 176 episodes across seven seasons. The show starred Avery Brooks, René Auberjonois, Terry Farrell, Cirroc Lofton, Colm Meaney, Armin Shimerman, Alexander Siddig and Nana Visitor.

It followed the adventures of the crew onboard Deep Space Nine, a spaceship stationed near an outpost right next to a stable wormhole on the far reaches of explored space.

Set in the 24th century, the crew are under the command of Captain Benjamin Sisko, who has been given a mandate to protect a planet named Bajor and the station from any unwelcome visitors. But, after they discover the wormhole (which is, naturally, a shortcut through space that leads directly to uncharted territory), Sisko and his crew have their work cut out trying to keep on top of all the hostile nasties that keep turning up.

One of the best reviewed Star Trek franchises, with 91% on Rotten Tomatoes , Deep Space Nine's departure truly is the end of an era for Netflix, which will soon find itself without Star Trek for the first time in 10 years.

What about internationally?

For now, all of the shows, with the exception of Star Trek: The Animated Series, remain on Netflix internationally.

However, with the imminent launch of Paramount Plus in the UK and mainland Europe this summer , we strongly suspect that this isn't going to be the case for much longer.

That said, Paramount Plus launched in the US in March of 2021, and it has taken over 18 months for the network to slowly reclaim the rights to the various different Star Trek shows, so their departure from Netflix internationally is unlikely to be imminent.

Still, if you're a Netflix subscriber internationally and you want to work your way through the Star Trek seasons, we'd recommend getting a shift on (or waiting for Paramount Plus, of course...).

Sneak Peek: Scott Bakula Previews NCIS: New Orleans

If you're seeking a metaphor for acting, you couldn't do much better than the body-jumping premise of Quantum Leap. In the 21 years since that series went off the air, its star, Scott Bakula, has leaped into a striking array of characters, with an initial emphasis on more sci-fi (Star Trek: Enterprise) eventually offset by a turn toward naturalistic dramedy (Men of a Certain Age). But playing a cop on a network procedural? Inexplicably, that seemingly inevitable move had proven a leap too far. This oversight has finally been rectified with Bakula's role as the lead in NCIS: New Orleans, premiering on CBS Sept. 23 in the coveted Tuesday time slot immediately following the franchise's flagship series...

Patrick Stewart Walking Off Star Trek: TNG's Set In Season 1 Reveals A Heartwarming Truth About Picard

2 modern star trek shows faced exactly the same criticism (but had opposite solutions), why star trek: the next generation's enterprise had a rarely-seen second bridge.

Netflix recently added Star Trek: Beyond to their streaming library, and watching it is the perfect way to celebrate the ending of 2024's Star Trek Day celebrations. As the third installment of JJ Abrams' reboot Star Trek franchise that premiered in 2009, director Justin Lin's Star Trek: Beyond didn't just appeal to newer fans of the franchise, it also called back many of the core aspects of Gene Roddenberry's original Star Trek vision : optimism, resiliency, and the strength of friendship.

While every Star Trek movie has some form of canon-specific lore that affects the Starship Enterprise's crew, Star Trek: Beyond goes a step further. Instead of simply fighting an alien enemy, Star Trek Beyond 's antagonist represents something far more sinister. Krall , Idris Elba's villain in Star Trek: Beyond, highlights the Federation's dark past , in which wars with other alien species ruined the lives of countless citizens. The good vs. bad element popular in many Star Trek films is absent in Star Trek: Beyond , replaced instead by a fundamental principle that has remained at the heart of the franchise for decades.

Star Trek: Beyond Highlights The Franchise’s Best Values

Teamwork proves to be successful against the film's anti-federation antagonist.

Star Trek: Beyond starts by exploring the Starship Enterprise's five-year mission , and it doesn't shy away from showcasing the struggles of deep space travel. Star Trek Beyond highlights Captain James T. Kirk's (Chris Pine) issues with his captaincy , which sets the tone for the rest of the film, and considers what it really means to be a Starfleet crew. When Krall kidnaps most of the Enterprise personnel, Captain Kirk, Spock (Zachary Quinto), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Dr. Leonard McCoy (Karl Urban), Chekov (Anton Yelchin), and Jaylah (Sofia Boutella) must work together to mount a rescue and defeat Krall.

Star Trek: Beyond' s ending reaffirms the franchise's core belief system by keeping hope at the center of its narrative. When facing off with Captain Kirk, Krall insists on the Federation's mistakes, citing the Xindi and Romulan wars as the source of his resentment. Kirk defends the Federation, arguing that the future is worth protecting rather than the past. Star Trek Beyond culminates with Kirk and his crew reunited and launching another five-year mission aboard a new USS Enterprise. This sense of safeguarding the future is paramount to Star Trek 's original purpose to boldly venture into the unknown with an open mind and willingness to adapt.

The New Age Of Star Trek TV Succeeded In Part Thanks To Star Trek: Beyond

Star trek: beyond helped usher in a golden age of star trek television.

Star Trek: Beyond is a captivating sci-fi narrative, told by lovable characters, that never takes itself too seriously. Audiences still crave more, although Star Trek 4 remains in development hell. Star Trek: Beyond influenced the cinematic approach to Star Trek: Discovery , and the series that followed on Paramount+ like Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Most of the current Star Trek TV shows on Paramount+ owe a debt to Star Trek Beyond 's aesthetics and how it recaptured the soul of Star Trek: The Original Series .

The continued streaming success of Star Trek TV projects can be traced, at least partially, back to the box office and fan success of Star Trek: Beyond . Without it, fans would have been left with the less critically acclaimed Star Trek: Into Darkness , which focused on the secret dark side of Starfleet. Since Star Trek Day was all about recognizing what makes Star Trek special to so many people, Star Trek: Beyond 's inclusion of so many of the franchise's optimistic principles makes it the perfect way to celebrate.

Every Star Trek TV Theme Song Ranked: From TOS and TNG to Discovery and Beyond

Star Trek has some of the best music in television history. And here's how the greatest themes stack up with one another.

Star Trek: Voyager

“Space… the Final Frontier.” Those words have a certain sound to them, and not just because you hear the voice of William Shatner or Patrick Stewart saying them. They have a sound to them because they’re associated with music, specifically some of the most iconic themes in television history.

Even more so than the cold opens that accompany most episodes of Star Trek , the themes need to capture the franchise’s sense of wonder, optimism, and discovery. They need to evoke in the mind of the watcher an endless horizon just waiting for a Starfleet crew to find.

Every Star Trek TV theme achieves this goal, albeit some better than others. So here’s our ranking of every theme song from the most pedestrian to the most inspiring.

11. Star Trek: The Animated Series

It’s so much easier to admire Star Trek: The Animated Series than it is to enjoy it. As much as the show manages to evoke the spirit and feel part of the Original Series on a cheap TV animation budget, one has to look past a lot of clunkiness to get to the good stuff.

Ad – content continues below

The same is true of the new theme music by Filmation composer Ray Ellis, under the pseudonym Yvette Blais and Jeff Michael. At times, the TAS theme captures the sense of wonder found in the Original Series theme. But too often it’s thin and tinny, hampered by flat orchestration and poorly-recorded horns. The composition itself isn’t too bad, but it feels quintessentially 1970s, dated in a way the best themes do not. Instead of boldly going, The Animated Series theme keeps things stuck in the world of Filmation.

10. Star Trek: Picard

Star Trek: Picard wanted to move the main character away from the respected captain we knew from The Next Generation . This was an older, more contemplative man, living in disgrace from even the organization through which he built his legend. The Picard theme by Jeff Russo reflects those intentions, a soft, almost discordant piece of music that eschews the stirring confidence of the other themes.

Russo works in elements of previous Star Trek music, namely the march of the TNG theme and the tune from “The Inner Light.” But no part connects with the other, feeling like a series of fragments more than a complete whole. Although one appreciates the daring in Russo’s composition for Picard , it’s much less enjoyable than most of the other themes. A good idea in theory, but not in execution, like much of Picard itself.

9. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

So much of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is about making something new with the familiar. Spun off from the very different Discovery , Strange New Worlds puts viewers back on the Enterprise , filled with familiar characters, including Uhura, Spock, and James T. Kirk himself. The theme by Jeff Russo tries to do the same, right down to the traditional spoken word intro, this time delivered by Anson Mount as Captain Pike.

Except, unlike the rest of SNW , the theme feels like a retread of glory days instead of a new interpretation of classic ideas. The song isn’t bad, combining the marching cadence of the TOS theme with the wistful hope of the modern themes. It’s a pleasing composition, but also unsurprising. It sounds more like an update of the classic Trek theme, which isn’t bad, but is a bit underwhelming.

8. Star Trek: Lower Decks

Almost every complaint lodged against the theme for Strange New Worlds also applies to Star Trek: Lower Decks . Although far more irreverent, Lower Decks goes back to a fan-favorite point in time, during the 1990s series, and its theme reflects that setting. Chris Westlake, who worked with showrunner Mike McMahan on Solar Opposites , emulates the tone of ’90s Trek shows, especially TNG .

The propulsive tune has the sense of adventure that one wants for a good Trek theme, threaded with notes of wonder and whimsey. Some might complain that the tune doesn’t indicate the show’s comedic elements, but that’s part of the Lower Decks charm. The show pokes loving fun at Star Trek , coming from a place of deep knowledge and respect for the franchise, which the theme song reflects.

7. Star Trek: Discovery

The farther we get from the show’s first few seasons, the easier it is to see Star Trek: Discovery as the experimental, off-beat franchise entry that it is. That experimental aspect is reflected in the way the theme song from composer Jeff Russo integrates elements of the classic TOS theme, but then moves in its own direction.

Instead of just launching forward, the theme holds back. A bed of soft bass holds the theme together, giving space for playful strings. But the theme plays out in loosely connected pieces, never really coming together, even when it returns to notes of the TOS theme at the end. All of these elements signal an evolving series, one that has no one single identity—fitting for Discovery .

6. Star Trek: The Original Series

Alright, let’s just get this out of the way. The theme to Star Trek: The Original Series is iconic. There’s a reason that so many modern Trek themes quote the original. That said, there’s a reason that these themes only quote the start, the tinkling chimes that accompany the “Final Frontier” speech or the confident strings that follow.

No one quotes the rest of the theme, and there’s a reason for that. While the melody itself is pleasing and fits the exploration ideas of the show, nothing else in the song from Alexander Courage works. The vocals are cheesy and irritating, the bongos are too busy, drawing attention from the best parts of the song. Courage’s composition deserves credit for setting the standard, but no one is upset that the themes moved on from there.

5. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Many ( including folks at Den of Geek ) put Star Trek: Deep Space Nine at the top of franchise rankings. The show’s moral complexity, its vision of different people and groups trying to come together, and its embrace of concepts such as large-scale war and religion make it hard to beat as the greatest entry in Star Trek history.

However, the theme by Dennis McCarthy doesn’t really hint at these titanic stakes—even after it was revamped in later seasons. Instead, the slow, contemplative theme evokes loneliness and even stagnation. A solo trumpet drives the theme, playing over the warm strings that rise and fall away. It makes for a beautiful work, but not one that stays in the mind like others.

4. Star Trek: Prodigy

Star Trek: Prodigy is easily the most unique of the Star Trek shows. Directed at kids with an animation style that recalls the Star Wars series on Disney+, yet still a sequel to Star Trek: Voyager , Prodigy doesn’t necessarily sound like an idea that would succeed. And yet, with its team of plucky kids and fantastic stories about established characters like Janeway, Chakotay, and Wesley Crusher , Prodigy embodies the Trek ethos better than any other current show.

That unique approach is highlighted in the show’s theme, which comes from none other than Michael Giacchino. The tune owes a debt to Voyager , unsurprisingly, but there’s also a lot of his work from the Kelvin universe movies in there, too. A warm, confident melody pushes the song forward, giving way for occasional moments of reflective calm and explosive propulsion. The song reflects the excitement of the show, in which a bunch of rowdy kids follow in the footsteps of respected travelers.

3. Star Trek: Enterprise

Yes. Really. Of course, we all recoiled in disgust the first time that we heard the lyrics “faith of the heart” greeting us to Enterprise’s premiere “Broken Bow.” Why abandon the orchestral themes that have always been part of the series? And why abandon them for a terrible adult contemporary number, one written by Diane Warren for the awful Robin Williams vehicle Patch Adams ?

But something strange happens by the time you get to episode 8. You start singing along. The radio-friendly licks and obvious hooks sink in and feel, somehow, right. And when the more up-tempo version kicks in with season three, we’re all channeling our inner Russell Watson to belt out our feelings. I guess you could say it’s a long road to loving “Where My Heart Will Take Me,” but we all get there eventually.

2. Star Trek: The Next Generation

Yes, this is a cheat. The music used in Star Trek: The Next Generation first came from Jerry Goldsmith’s score for Star Trek: The Motion Picture . But, honestly, do you associate that stirring march with Kirk in his pajamas, staring at the viewscreen? Or do you picture Jean-Luc Picard and Data and Q? Of course, it’s the latter, even if we’re watching a way-too-long sequence of the saucer section of the Enterprise-D separating.

The theme is a better fit for TNG than TMP anyway because it’s all about moving forward. Goldsmith’s composition strides forward, not even pausing for a second to second guess itself. Even when it softens for a reflective middle section, the theme keeps marching ahead, boldly going, all the way to its final triumphant flourish, keeping Trek alive for the next generation and beyond.

1. Star Trek: Voyager

Star Trek: Voyager may be the least loved among the first five series, but it has the most perfect theme of the entire franchise. Jerry Goldsmith nails it, combining the forward march of TNG with the sense of wonder from TOS and the loneliness of DS9 . This is a show about a ship lost in a distant quadrant, holding to their exploration ideals while remaining confident that they’ll get home.

Those aspects combine in the central tension of the theme, with the brass punching out its main melody and soft strings rising up, adding hints of sadness. Throughout the song come occasional chimes, highlighting the hopeful moments in Voyager ‘s journey, while never forgetting the danger and sadness in their plight. It’s everything wonderful about Star Trek , all presented in one minute and 40 seconds.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 Clip Shows Tendi In Pirate Mode, And It's Exactly What I Expected

Isn't she the best?

Tendi and her sister at the helm of an Orion ship

It's been a long summer for Star Trek fans, to say the least. While it was great to receive the Section 31 trailer and learn about the big legacy castings in Starfleet Academy , I'm excited to get back to watching actual shows soon. On that note, Lower Decks' final season is just around the corner and, in honor of Star Trek Day , Paramount+ shared a new clip of D'Vana Tendi with the Orion pirates. Needless to say, the situation plays out exactly as I expected.

Amid fans' wait for upcoming Trek series to return, I definitely appreciate the folks at Paramount+ dropping a snippet of Tendi running a pirate raid with the rest of the Orions. I wondered how she'd adjust to the notably more violent methods of her people after spending so long in Starfleet. I'm not surprised to see she's managed to mellow out her team and prevent them from "only leaving one alive" to instill fear, and how she diplomatically allowed someone to rip out the decorative face jewelry. Sure, it's not perfect, but she's making it work! See the clip for yourself:

I'm thrilled to see Tendi with the Orions but, with Lower Decks ending with Season 5, I'm a little nervous that this isn't a scene confirming she'll have plenty of time with her friends back in Starfleet. That said, showrunner and creator Mike McMahan previously said this LD season will have a conclusive ending . So I'll remain hopeful that he knew what he was doing, and fans won't be on the other side of this season feeling disappointed.

Not that I'm too worried about that, as the clip above is loaded with the TNG-era references from Star Trek that so many franchise devotees love. I'm also hyped that the latest poster for this season clearly takes inspiration from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier :

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 poster

As cool as it is to have new Star Trek to streaming soon, it's also an incredibly bittersweet moment. LD 's conclusion means the end of the set of shows set in the TNG era, at least for now. Many are still crossing their fingers for more announcements about shows on the way, and Alex Kurtzman teased surprises are on the way as more projects see the light of day.

It's known that Lower Decks star Tawny Newsome will remain part of the franchise via a new live-action comedy series she's developing with Justin Simien, but it remains to be seen how involved the rest of the cast and showrunner Mike McMahan may be. I would love to see the Cerritos crew continue to work in the universe and make random appearances but, as mentioned, there apparently isn't a TNG-era series in active development at the moment. (Perhaps if we can get Netflix to pick up Prodigy for Season 3 , that will change!)

But, all that aside, I'm still hyped that we still have one more set of episodes to look forward to before the animated series takes its final bow. With that, the clip of Tendi's pirating makes me excited for what's to come. Here's hoping that the series ends on a high note for her and her allies.
