Under the guidance of Tina Treadwell (daughter of the group’s original founders, George & Faye Treadwell)  The Drifters have enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in recent years with multiple successful UK tours including headline shows in major arenas and, most notably, the world famous Royal Albert Hall in London for the ever first time in the group’s glittering career.

The legendary group have previously been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, listed among the greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine and have produced an incredible list of hits - including; Saturday Night at the Movies, Come on Over to My Place, Stand By Me, Under the Boardwalk and many, many more!

Following phenomenal success of their 2022 tour, The Drifters are back on the road with a string of dates for 2023, with a line up hand-picked by Tina Treadwell herself - President of the Treadwell Entertainment Group and owner of The Drifters name.

Tina, who previously worked for Disney as an executive producer and casting director, believes this current line-up is one of the best to date and looks forward to the upcoming concert tour.  “I am very excited that following our 65th anniversary year we have a new show for the fans who we invite to join us in celebrating this incredible and everlasting story of The Drifters.”

Accessibility

Accessible seating is available within the balcony area where wheelchair users and companions can enjoy a view of the stage from the right. Limited numbers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The accessible seating area is positioned near exits and accessible toilets. The area is accessible from the same level from the main entrance of via lifts form the Lower ground floor.

Subject to the set-up of the event, there may be accessible seats available on the flat floor, closer to the stage. Other seating is available in other areas of the venue for those who do not mind using steps.

Tickets can be purchased via phone booking only. Proof of eligibility will be requested when bookings are made for accessible seating and free companion tickets. For more information, please contact the DCLT Contact Centre on 01302 370777.

Safety & Security

The Doncaster Dome aims to put the customer’s safety as a priority. Please ensure you read this information ahead of every visit as the procedures differ over time and between venues.

Particularly in large audience events, we implement heightened security procedures which are tailored to the specific requirements of the event. However, because of the sensitive nature of these protocols, we cannot elaborate further on the specific details. We would ask that customers be patient and understanding where this might impact on queue times and/or the prohibition of items permitted on the premises. We will make every effort to communicate this information to customers as quickly and clearly as we can.

We would always recommend customers check our website & social media pages before they travel & that they also arrive at the venue as early as they can to minimise delays in accessing the venue.

CCTV and surveillance are in place across the venue.

For your safety, customers may be searched before they are allowed access to the venue. If you or your bags aren't searched and/or wanded that doesn't mean the stewards are not doing their job - searchers are just one component of the security measures in place.

It is a criminal offence to bring smoke bombs, flares & fireworks into the venue.

No bags larger than an A3 size (approximately 40cm x 35cm x 19cm) will be permitted in the venue and there is no facility to store items at the venue. Please keep the number of personal belongings you bring with you to an absolute minimum - any items you bring to an event will be subject to additional searches and slow your entry to the venue & may, in some cases, prevent your entry.

The additional security procedures will slow entry to the venue and we advise that everyone arrives as close to the doors open time is possible.

Please never leave your items unattended and report any suspicious activity to a venue steward or DCLT staff.

First aiders will be in attendance and will assist if required. Please alert a member of staff if you or another member of the public require first aid assistance

The Drifters are an R&B, doo-wop and soul vocal group from New York City. The long-standing group has endured through many changes and has been inducted in the Vocal Hall of Fame

The Drifters were formed in 1953 originally as back up vocalists for Clyde McPhatter, however McPhatter was only associated with the group for a year. McPhatter, with the intention of wanting to blend gospel and secular music, got some of his old church group together, which included William “Chick” Anderson, David Baldwin, James “Wrinkle” Johnson and David “Little Dave” Baughan. They only released one recording, but the record executive in charge of the group didn’t think the group worked and suggested a whole new lineup.

The whole new lineup consisted of Bill Pinkney, Andrew Thrasher, Gerhart Thrasher, Willie Ferbee and Walter Adams, and it was this group that produced the hit song “Money Honey” in September 1953. Unfortunately the group went through a few more lineup changes and was a short-lived group due to various reasons. Some members of the group started a new group under the name The Original Drifters (inducted into the Vocal Hall of Fame in 1998), but The Drifters continued on with a whole new lineup that included Ben E. King, Charlie Thomas, Dock Green, Elsbeary Hobbs. It was this group that released a string of successful songs, including “There Goes My Baby” and “This Magic Moment,” and it was also this group that was later inducted into the Vocal Hall Of Fame in 2000 (as Ben E. King & The Drifters).

Live reviews

The Drifters might not have been signed to Motown, but that doesn’t mean they don’t share the same astonishing longevity as many of the legendary label’s biggest acts; admittedly, the current lineup of the outfit is a long way removed from the original 1953 group, but it’s really a testament to the quality of the songs, rather than the identity of those singing them, that The Drifters remain a going concern in any way, shape or form in the present day. Past alumni include the iconic likes of Ben E. King and Rudy Lewis, and it was they that formed the crux of the so-called New Drifters, after the original doo-wop oriented lineup from the fifties had run their course. Today, they’re comprised of a considerably younger group of men, and continue to tour as The Drifters all over the globe. Just this summer, they completed a lap of the UK that saw all the classics brought out - ‘Under the Boardwalk’, ‘Saturday Night at the Movies’ and ‘Kissin’ in the Back Row’ all present and correct - and done justice, too, with a full live band. The Drifters may look very different these days, but the songs remain the same - and audiences continue to lap them up.

The Drifters were great and what I expected. Was glad to see the Flamingos but they did too mant new songs and not the old favorites I expected to hear. I believe they were more into promoting their new CD than singing the classics I love so much. Also Joey Dee was great on his songs but didn't appreciate going off base with I will Survive, Heatwave, etc. Also the lead vocals thru the sound system or the Flamingos and Joey Dee were a little loud for that size room and sometimes sounded distorted.

The Drifters show was absolutely perfect throughout. Skilled artists who sang us through an unforgettable evening. Ray Lewis is the most skilled intertainer ever, the stage performance was perfect. An evening you will never forget, with so much lovely music. The audience catches up with his presence, getting around to the audience, and amazing voice. A lovely evening that lives forever.

The Drifters show was absolutely perfect throughout. Skilled artists who sang us through an unforgettable evening. Ray Lewis is the best intertainer, ever. The stage performance was perfect. An evening you will never forget, with so many lovely songs from Ray Lewis and his talented singers.

Singer Diljit Dosanjh’s India tour sells out within minutes leaving fans crushed

Tickets for actor and musician Diljit Dosanjh ’s “Dil-luminati” India tour sold out within minutes of going on sale, leaving many fans disappointed.

A presale started on Tuesday and tickets for the concert in capital Delhi sold out in just under two minutes.

General tickets opened for purchase on Thursday and sold out within minutes, with fans showing the same level of enthusiasm as seen for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour .

“We have already sold 150,000 tickets. While there is enormous demand, due to the rules, regulations, and venue capacities, we are expecting around 200,000 people across 10 venues,” tour organiser Janamjai Sehgal from Saregama India told NDTV .

“This level of response has never happened in India before, not even for international artists. On the first day of the presale, 8,000-10,000 transactions were made in a single minute. We sold 100,000 tickets within 15 minutes,” Sehgal said.

Fans who managed to get the tickets celebrated on social media and those who didn’t were trying desperately to find resellers even though they were asking for jacked up prices.

“Bajaj Finance IPO, if one lot is allotted of ₹14,900 (£135), could potentially become ₹28,757 (£260), assuming a 93 per cent GMP. Diljit Dosanjh concert tickets which people bought for ₹5,999 (£54) are being resold for ₹21,000 (£190), that’s a growth of 250.04 per cent! Next time, you know where to invest,” one fan joked on X.

Another fan posted screenshots of multiple tickets to reveal that he spent Rs 87,640 (£794) on them.

Several fans who weren’t able to get the tickets complained about the booking process, because patrons had to zoom in to the seats to confirm, which they said wasted time.

The “Dil-luminati” tour is set to kick off on 26 October in Delhi. Shows are also lined up in Chandigarh, Guwahati, Pune, Indore, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad.

Dosanjh has been on a world tour since the early 2024, performing sold-out shows across North America, Australia and New Zealand. And he has shows lined up in Paris, London, Glasgow, and Amsterdam through September and October.

The singer has seen his global popularity surge since a performance at Coachella in 2023 . His collaborations with international stars like NLE Choppa, Sia, and Saweetie have added to his appeal, and he’s often credited with putting Punjabi music on the map.

Earlier this year, he joined Ed Sheeran on stage in Mumbai to perform his hit track “Lover” . Dosanjh has also worked on a Punjabi-Spanish crossover track “Palpita” with Colombian singer Camilo.

He made his first appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and performed fan favourites “GOAT” and “Born To Shine”.

'No plans' for more Oasis UK tour dates - including return to iconic Knebworth Park

Two more Wembley dates were added to the reunion tour after technical issues meant some fans were unable to get their hands on tickets.

Oasis has ruled out more dates in the UK as part of their reunion tour, including a return to iconic Knebworth Park.

The band announced last month they would be reuniting for a series of dates later this year, beginning in Cardiff .

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher performed two concerts at Knebworth Park, the stately home in Hertfordshire , in 1996.

They later released a live album from the shows and the 2021 documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996.

The Sun newspaper had reported the brothers were open to the idea of adding to the 19-date run at the venue.

In a statement on social media, the band said "Oasis will not be playing Knebworth Park in the future".

"There are no plans for any further UK dates beyond the currently announced UK stadium tour," the statement added.

After some fans were unable to get tickets due to technical issues, two more dates were added at London 's Wembley Stadium on 27 and 28 September.

They follow two dates in the Welsh capital, five in Manchester , five in Wembley and three in Edinburgh .

Those successful in the invite-only ballot to buy tickets for the remaining concerts are set to be informed by 9pm on Friday.

The UK's competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), is investigating whether the sale of Oasis tickets by Ticketmaster may have breached consumer protection law .

The probe will look at whether "dynamic pricing" may have been used after the price of standard tickets for the tour more than doubled from £148 to £355 on the ticket selling website.

Ticketmaster has said it does not set concert prices and Oasis has said the band was not involved in the decision either.

Oasis has yet to release tickets or announce dates for their tour outside of Europe.

The Fans’ Forum will be held in the Bristol Bar at The Memorial Stadium, with doors opening at 6.30pm ahead of the event, which will run from 7pm until 8pm.

Tickets will be free but must be claimed and registered prior to the event. Supporters without a ticket will not be permitted attendance to the Fans’ Forum, due to the limited space available.

This will ensure priority is given to the most frequently asked questions, allow the panel time to appropriately prepare fully-researched answers, and ensure fans unable to attend in person have the opportunity to ask their questions.
