Legendary American metal act, Manowar, have been raising hell since 1980, known for their outlandish antics and their gargantuan sound with lyrics full of mythological references.

Manowar began life in Auburn, New York, US, brought together by bassist Joey DeMaio formed a band with fellow musicians in the area, with the three original members DeMaio, Eric Adams (vocals), Donnie Hamzik (drums), joined by guitarist Karl Logan as of 1994, to form the quartet. From the strength of their first demo, they secured a recording contract in 1981 with Liberty Records, which began their rise to cult metal stardom, releasing their debut album, “Battle Hymns,” the following year.

Manowar have gone on to release 13 albums, each pushing their powerful, heavy sound to grander levels than what came before. Whilst never obtaining mainstream commercial success, their music has developed a strong cult following across the world. Whilst being popular in the US, they made their biggest impact in Europe, as well as being popular in the Australian and South American metal scene. Their use of mythological themes and Viking-inspired leather outfits made them the precursor band to the rise of Viking-metal and pagan-metal acts, such as bands like Finntroll, Gwar and Amon Amarth.

Highlights of their large discography include the 1988 album, “Kings of Metal ,” which is their highest-selling album worldwide, with many songs featured being fan favorties, played to uproarious receptions when performed live. 1992’s “Triumph of Steel” was another career high point, famous for its inclusion of a 28-minute suite titled “Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy in Eight Parts,” which was inspired by the Iliad.

Manowar are able to lay claim to the title of the ‘loudest metal band’ breaking this record on two separate occasions having being awarded it by the Guinness Book World of Records in 1984. As well as being the heaviest band, they also have the record for playing the longest heavy metal concert, when they played for five hours straight at a concert in Bulgaria in 2008.

Live reviews

Other band’s play, Manorwar KILLS. To some, Manowar’s claim to fame might be that they are the “loudest live band in history” but to true metal warriors Manowar are the kings of metal.

There is no better description for the community at a Manowar show than their very own song “Die For Metal” which details the day of a man quitting his job, going to his first Manowar show and instantly becoming a brother of metal. Lead singer Eric Adams commands a crowd like no other metal frontman can. Manowar tends to play lengthy shows and Adams has the entire audience eating out of the palm of his hands the entire time. To think, he’s been doing this for nearly 35 years and is still going strong! In a word, Manowar’s live performance is simply epic.

There is no better show to see live than a Manowar show for pure fun. The loudest band in the world, the most metal band in the world with thousands of metal warriors singing at the top of their lungs songs about the steel, mythology and the genre we all love so much.

“They can’t stop us, let ‘em try, for heavy metal WE WILL DIE.”

Report as inappropriate

Manowar are one of the most revered artists on the underground metal scene. The Auburn, New York outfit have been working the scene since the early 80s and the large amount of experience they hold is very visible onstage. It is without a doubt an atmosphere of complete mayhem within the venue and the band plays in a total frantic manner yet you have to notice that they do not drop a single note all evening long.

The audience is pumped up and ready to throw themselves into the show with equal intensity. In their homeland they still sit very much within the cult category so therefore everybody attending tonight is what you would describe as a super fan. This is evident when you hear the volumes the choruses are sang back all night whilst the group are left to focus on the epic instrumentals. There is a strange notion to music that could fill stadiums being confined to intimate venues yet this simply elevates the intensity of a Manowar show.

It was great to see they guys again, but I've seen better shows with them. Eric was on point and still has a phenomenal voice, but Joey off key; especially through his attempt to master "Flight of the bumblebee". I liked Karl Logan's replacement, Mr. Martel, and the newish Swedish drummer were an worthy attribute.

I am very disappointed.

- Concert duration just about 1.5 hours

- Band performance (show) average (sound was good though)

- Price for tickets and merchandise abysmal

And worst of all. My critical comment on Facebook was removed instead of responding to it.

NEVER AGAIN !!!

Best Show ever

This was one of the best concerts ever. I wish they were given a bigger venue.

It doesn't get any better than this...

Talk about loud! This is the way you would expect to see a band like Manowar. At first I thought tickets were relatively over-priced but then being informed that they had opted out of letting people in the balcony because it would degrade the sound quality, I understood why the price was more than I had expected. It was worth every penny and Manowar didn't disappoint.

Manowar was worth the wait!

Manowar kicked ass. Such a classic, heavy band who have never wimped out or given into commercial pressure. Their sound is incredible--both melodic and intense. Few bands have lasted as long, and these guys have not lost a note. Honestly, if you're a fan of heavy metal's roots, Manowar is the band to see. They not only honor their commitment to their fans but once you see one of their shows you will realize others pale in comparison. And speaking of their fans? They are amazing people. Never have I enjoyed being in a crowd as much as a crowd of Manowar fans. People are right; they are like a family. I hope I get the chance to see one of their shows again. It is truly a privilege to see them live; they really are the kings!

Manowar needs to come to town more often!

Fox Theater in Pomona. Restored to Art Deco film and stage palace. Nice small venue and very good sight lines. Sound was amazing and LOUD like it should be. Even the smoking of the amplifier puts creedance into the 'Blow your speakers with Rock'n'Roll'. Eric Adam's voice was amazing as always. Joey provided Thunder on the Bass, Karl added the lightning on the guitar. Of course, Donnie kept the metal rhythm. I wish they would come and play the states more often. I need a consistent does of Metal Manowar! You do too.

So much metal!

The show was so epic and loud that an amp blew out after 2 songs. After replacing the amp, Manowar continued to shred and the show was extremely powerful and loud and pleasing to the eye. The music was so intense, it vibrated into my chest and down to my feet. I went deaf for days. But it was worth it!!!

Bang does not equal Buck

Expensive. Others' reviews have already gone play by play. I'm glad I went, having never have seen them before. But I would not go again. It was, even for a metal show, simply unnecessarily too loud. I brought ear plugs, but I should have gone and had my ears sewn shut for the weekend and wore a pressurized deep diving suit. It was not physically pleasant listening. And, they did not do "Carry On" which was disappointing. The documentary segments were unnecessary as well.

SUPREME PERFORMERS!

Truly an awesome show. They rocked it from start to finish. I hope that they received the respect they are due from all of the US Manowarriors so that they will tour the US again soon, as they say they will. Look forward to seeing them again real soon. HAIL AND KILL.

Wow..this was way better than expected. They need to come back to the states soon.

Loudest show ever!

Manowar did not disappoint. It was a face melting metal show that I will never forget!

Great music/vocals, entertaining performance, but maybe a little too much of the show spent on letting the guitar amplifiers feedback (hence 4 of 5 stars). I had wanted to see them for years but this is the first time they were near where I lived. Definitely worth it.

“This will be the biggest production we’ve ever done in the US!” declared bassist Joey De Maio via the band’s official website . “Our fans here will finally get the power and might that has made Manowar the headlining attraction the world over!”

Tickets go on sale Wednesday (December 20th) at 10 a.m. ET via the Kings Theatre’s website . Fans can also look for deals or get tickets in case of a sellout via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

MANOWAR Announces First U.S. Concert In A Decade

MANOWAR has announced an exclusive U.S. concert for November 30, 2024 at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. It will mark the band's first live appearance in MANOWAR 's home country in a decade.

Earlier today (Saturday, December 16), MANOWAR shared a video message from bassist/leader Joey DeMaio in which he said: "This is Joey DeMaio from MANOWAR and I have just returned from signing the contract that will bring MANOWAR back to America. November 30th next year, MANOWAR will take the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn apart, taking the roof off the place. So watch social media and pay attention as tickets go on sale this coming Wednesday. We'll see you there."

MANOWAR 's last U.S. shows are believed to have taken place in February 2014 when the band celebrated the 25th anniversary of its "Kings Of Metal" album on the "Kings Of Metal MMXIV" tour.

Back in September 2014, MANOWAR canceled its previously announced U.S. tour dates which were scheduled to take place in November of that year. At the time, the band claimed it was scrapping the shows "due to scheduling conflicts" as well as to concentrate on work on a new studio album.

The 69-year-old DeMaio and 71-year-old singer Eric Adams are the sole remaining original members of MANOWAR , which formed in 1980 in upstate New York.

Two months ago, MANOWAR announced "The Blood Of Our Enemies" 2025 tour of Europe. The trek will be the band's first in support of MANOWAR 's next studio album, which will arrive in early 2025.

This past February, MANOWAR released a new song called "Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell" dedicated to the band's loyal German fans.

"Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell" , which translates into "Loud And Hard Strong And Fast" , is an anthemic mid-tempo hymn in the vein of MANOWAR 's classic "Warriors Of The World United" that invites fans to sing along and raise their hands in celebration of their favorite genre and band.

"Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell" was first released digitally on February 10 on all major platforms and was made available during MANOWAR 's German tour.

More than a year ago, MANOWAR announced that it had recruited Michael Angelo Batio , a veteran both in the studio and on stage, to play guitar for the band on its 2023 "Crushing The Enemies Of Metal" tour. The news came in the wake of guitarist Evandro "EV" Martel 's announcement that he was taking a break from touring for a while for "personal reasons".

Although MANOWAR has released a couple of EPs in recent years — including "The Revenge Of Odysseus (Highlights)" , which came out in June — the group hasn't issued a full-length effort since 2012's "The Lord Of Steel" .

MANOWAR 's two "secret" warm-up shows in June 2022 at Jovel Music Hall in Münster, Germany marked the band's debut live appearances with new drummer Dave Chedrick , who has previously played with RAVEN and KILL RITUAL , among others.

Chedrick joined MANOWAR as the replacement for Anders Johannson who announced that same month that he would be unable to join MANOWAR on the band's "Crushing The Enemies Of Metal Anniversary Tour '22/'23" due to "family commitments."

Will we see any Double Guitar action during the forthcoming jaunt?

Michael Angelo Batio

Longstanding New York metal outfit Manowar have recruited shred legend Michael Angelo Batio for their upcoming 2023 Crushing the Enemies of Metal anniversary tour.

The news comes days after the band’s guitarist Evandro “EV” Martel announced he’d be taking a break from touring “for a while” for “personal reasons”, and thus would not be appearing on the Crushing the Enemies of Metal trek.

While Martel said he’s only taking a break from Manowar, language used in a statement posted via the band’s social media suggests a permanent split might be on the horizon.

“Manowar, their crew, along with all the Manowarriors [Manowar fans] around the world have been really great to me from the first moment I came onboard,” Martel says. “I could not be more thankful for the good times we have shared.”

Being “thankful for the good times” is often indicative of a permanent exit, though no further info has been offered at this time.

A post shared by Manowar (@manowarband_official) A photo posted by on

On the same Instagram post, many fans called for the band’s founding guitarist Ross “The Boss” Friedman to take Martel’s place, but the band now reveal that Michael Angelo Batio will assume electric guitar duties for the forthcoming jaunt.

“We’ve known Michael for many years and have always admired his work. His technique is astounding,” says bass guitar player Joey DeMaio. “When we invited him to come and jam with us we played together at the speed of light. Everything fell into place immediately. We’re ready for a killer tour!”

“I could not be more excited,” adds Batio. “I love metal more than anything, and it doesn’t get more metal than Manowar! I can’t wait to get on stage and play for the Manowar fans!”

Manowar’s Crushing the Enemies of Metal tour is due to kick off in January 2023, and will celebrate the band’s now-42-year career, and the anniversaries of some of the band’s biggest albums, including Battle Hymns (1982), Fighting the World (1987), The Triumph of Steel (1992) and Warriors of the World (2002).

In October last year, Michael Angelo Batio launched a limited-edition production run of his iconic Double-Guitar format . It’s unclear whether he’ll play one of his Double Guitars onstage with Manowar, but we wouldn’t rule it out.

Rory McIlroy celebrates winning the Zurich Classic with Shane Lowry on Sunday.

Shunning Rory McIlroy would represent epic embarrassment for PGA Tour

Ewan Murray

World No 2 basically auditioning for acceptance to return to policy board is faintly ludicrous in increasingly fractured sport

T he most unpalatable and unlikely scenario could be a necessary one. Rory McIlroy to LIV has been rumoured, slapped down, rumoured and slapped down. Yet as the PGA Tour procrastinates over completion of a deal with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, and even the formal involvement of McIlroy himself, one wonders if it may take something nuclear to allow golf to wake up to the haplessness of its present, fractured state. Should McIlroy sign for golf’s rebel tour the establishment would be sent into a level of frenzy so serious that collaboration between the PGA Tour, LIV and the PIF would surely transpire in a heartbeat.

There is no suggestion this will happen. Still, Greg Norman knew precisely what he was doing in recent days. “If Rory was willing to sit down and have a conversation with us, would we be happy to sit down with him?” Norman said. “100%.” McIlroy is not actually the PGA Tour’s main concern. The live prospect of LIV continuing a talent drain on established tours into 2025 should be the prime cause for fear. While not McIlroy, it could be Viktor Hovland . If not Hovland, it could be Tommy Fleetwood. The PGA Tour and its marquee events are being materially harmed by golf’s lack of compatibility. This will continue to be the case while the PGA Tour wanders aimlessly on one path and LIV confidently on another.

A Monday morning conference call will determine whether or not McIlroy will make a return to the PGA Tour’s policy board and become a director of the recently established PGA Tour Enterprises. This vote should have taken place on Wednesday. It is a telling indicator of the corporate muddle that McIlroy – not the most famous individual in golf but surely the most influential – was not immediately welcomed with open arms. It is faintly ludicrous that the world No 2 and a proper needle-mover in golf has to hang around and audition for acceptance. The 34-year-old has connections across business and golf that should render a role for him a complete no-brainer. Yasir al-Rumayyan, the governor of the PIF, will take McIlroy’s call; a courtesy unlikely to given to others not named Tiger Woods.

The only assumption to be drawn from the needless delay is that there are those who are hardly impressed by McIlroy stepping back into prominence. The Northern Irishman has been candid about his desire for a global game, where the best play the best in all corners of the globe. If top-level golf was created today, this is precisely the model that would be followed. Yet for too long – and still now – people involved in the PGA Tour are obsessed only by the PGA Tour. It is an insular standpoint which, combined with Saudi riches, has left the organisation forced into a commercial partnership with a group of US-based sports owners to keep heads above water. Even with that agreement in place the PGA Tour’s medium-term outlook, with $20m events not nearly enough people care about, isn’t positive.

Rory McIlroy squints

As the sport loses eyeballs, players have become overly empowered. Golfers would never ask commercial types to line up putts for them but seem to believe they are qualified to make business calls. This is the reason a group of directors did not instantly tick a box and return McIlroy to the fold. Among them is Patrick Cantlay. McIlroy has already been plain about the fact he and the world No 8 “see the world quite differently”. Which is fine. In fact, it is perhaps essential in a boardroom.

Nobody knows precisely what Cantlay wants because he has passed up countless opportunities to articulate it. At Sawgrass, immediately before he joined a trip to the Bahamas to meet Rumayyan, Cantlay was so vague in response to questions about his sport’s future that it was tricky to keep eyes open while listening. A day after McIlroy’s potential reappearance was reported, Cantlay was on the interview schedule at the Zurich Classic. By total coincidence, Cantlay’s practice schedule meant he was not able to appear for questioning.

Woods is intriguing in this situation. It is only fair to believe fellow professionals who state the 15-time major winner takes his board position seriously, despite this being an individual who has had others basically wiping his backside since he shot to worldwide fame. Woods had no previous requirement to study spreadsheets. Despite not being a board member at the time, Woods was upset at having no prior knowledge of the 6 June framework agreement announced between the PGA Tour and PIF. This resentment seems to have lingered. If anyone had cause for anger, it was McIlroy; he earlier did so much of the PGA Tour’s public bidding against LIV. Rather than sulk, McIlroy wants to be a force for greater good.

JUST A SMALL TOWN GIRL pic.twitter.com/NefSbCQjAk — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 29, 2024

The bigger issue is that Woods’s entire legacy is wrapped up in the PGA Tour. He needs the PGA Tour, above or even at the cost of all else, to thrive and prosper. If the shape of elite golf changes it would only be natural for Woods to ponder how his achievements may be viewed decades from now. Like Cantlay, though, Woods has been hopelessly opaque when placed behind a microphone.

There are other reasons for McIlroy to be involved. If the PGA Tour wants to present itself as an upwardly mobile organisation, it surely cannot operate without European presence in its decision making. There is scepticism about the value of a strategic alliance between the PGA and DP World Tour; that is only enhanced by such a US-centric boardroom.

A conference call on Monday will determine the next step. Shunning McIlroy would represent an epic embarrassment. Whether the four-time major winner is back to front and centre, this must also be the trigger for others on the PGA Tour to finally display the courage of their convictions. Minus McIlroy, golf is sleepwalking.

Taylor Swift Is Not Attending the 2024 Met Gala to Focus on European Tour Dates

Swift kicks off her Europe tour in Paris on May 9

Melody Chiu is an Executive Editor at PEOPLE overseeing music, events and emerging content. She has been with the brand since 2009, editing, writing and reporting across all entertainment verticals. She has written cover stories on Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Melissa McCarthy, Blake Shelton, Jordan Turpin and Sandra Oh. The Los Angeles native graduated from the University of Southern California and has appeared on Extra! , The Talk, Access Hollywood and Good Morning America .

Taylor Swift is skipping the 2024 Met Gala , PEOPLE can confirm.

Despite reports that she would be attending , the singer, who just dropped her Tortured Poets Department album on April 19, is sitting out fashion's biggest night. Instead, she'll be focusing on rehearsals and tour prep ahead of her Eras Tour dates picking back up on May 9 in Paris before traveling all over Europe during the spring and summer.

The Met Gala, which always takes place on the first Monday in May, will be held on May 6, which would have been a tight squeeze ahead of the tour for Swift, 34.

Emma McIntyre/TAS23/Getty

TMZ previously reported that Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, would not be attending the Met Gala this year.

Swift has already attended the prestigious night six times (her most recent appearance was in 2016) while Kelce has yet to make his debut at the prestigious event.

The Grammy winner has had a huge couple of weeks, following the release of The Tortured Poets Department as she prepares to head back out on tour. She has taken over the Billboard chart (again!), has seen her album rack up 1 billion Spotify streams in a week and emotionally shared glowing reviews for her work .

No big deal, right?

John Shearer/Getty

While there’s going to be a blank space with Swift absent, the Met Gala is sure to bring out all the heavy hitters in fashion.

This year’s theme is centered on the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit, which will feature approximately 250 items — including 15 significant pieces such as an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown — that span over 400 years of history. “It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,” said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of the Costume Institute.

Expectedly, the dress code is themed “The Garden of Time” and is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. The story follows a count and countess living “in their utopia of leisure, art, and beauty,” as noted by Vogue , who predicts that stars will show up in ensembles paying homage to florals, music and time.

John Lamparski/Getty

Zendaya , Jennifer Lopez , Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny will lead the pack as the four co-chairs of the night. Despite the Met Gala being a few weeks away, some of them have yet to finalize their looks (who can blame them, it’s a lot of pressure).

The Challengers actress, an already five-time attendee (her insane Cinderella transformations on the famous steps is simply unforgettable) told Vanity Fair recently that she still doesn’t “really know” what she’s wearing, but she has “ideas.”

Meanwhile, the This is Me…Now singer is still ruminating over a few potentials. “I have a few different sketches. I’m still deciding,” Lopez told Vogue this week. “I’m also one of those people who chooses at the last minute. Like, I like choices, and then I go, ‘Okay, this is how I feel today,’ and then we try to kinda create some type of amazing look — ‘cause that is the night for looks!”

Kamala Harris Leads Push to Shore Up Democratic Support From Black Voters

Speaking in Atlanta, the vice president began a national tour to highlight how the Biden administration is trying to help Black Americans economically.

Kamala Harris walks onto a stage while waving to the crowd. Some people up front are holding phones to capture the moment.

By Maya King

Reporting from Atlanta

  • April 29, 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris made a new effort to energize Black voters in battleground states on Monday, visiting Atlanta for the kickoff of a national economic tour that will highlight how the Biden administration says its policies are helping a constituency that will be vital to Democrats’ success in November.

Speaking to a largely Black crowd of about 400 people, Ms. Harris laid out ways that she and President Biden have sought to improve Black Americans’ upward mobility and help them realize their business ambitions. A chief objective of the tour, she said, was to let Black business owners and entrepreneurs know about the resources available to them.

“I need the help of the leaders who are here to get the word out so people know what is available to them,” she said during a conversation at the Georgia International Convention Center with Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of the financial literacy podcast “Earn Your Leisure,” which offers business advice to its more than two million listeners, a majority of whom are Black.

Explaining how government policies have widened the racial wealth gap over the years, Ms. Harris pointed to the Biden administration’s attempts to try to narrow it, including small-business grants and efforts to forgive student loans.

“We want to make sure people know about it — and then know where they can receive — the support to be ready to take on the work and then to grow their capacity,” she said.

Her remarks at the official White House-hosted event — drier and less political than her forceful campaign speeches on abortion recently — meandered at times.

“As much as anything, the spirit behind the push for access to capital, and in particular, on this tour, focusing on minority small businesses and Black-owned small businesses, and small businesses and entrepreneurs who are Black men, is to recognize the disparities that have existed around the access to the opportunity to achieve success,” she said at one point.

But at other moments Ms. Harris was more pointed, including when she defended diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that conservative lawmakers have pushed to dismantle in state governments and at colleges and universities .

“In spite of those who in certain parts of our country want to attack D.E.I., we understand that you can’t truly invest in the strength of our nation if you don’t pay attention to diversity, equity and inclusion,” she said.

The vice president’s Atlanta visit, her 12th trip to Georgia since taking office, was the first stop in a tour of several battleground states in the coming weeks. Much of the tour will focus on Black small businesses and economic issues that are especially pressing for Black communities. She will visit Detroit next week, aides said.

Ms. Harris’s tour will also seek to engage Black men, whom Democrats are urgently courting as polls show them softening in their support for Mr. Biden. Much of the crowd at the vice president’s event consisted of Black male political and business leaders, as well as a contingent of students from Morehouse College, a historically Black men’s college in Atlanta where President Biden will deliver the commencement address next month.

Before her speech, Ms. Harris visited an entrepreneurship hub near downtown Atlanta where she spoke with Black small-business owners.

Flanked by Georgia’s Democratic senators, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, as well as Representative Nikema Williams, the state Democratic Party chair, Ms. Harris highlighted the Biden administration’s marquee legislation, like the CHIPS and Science Act, which offers funding for small-business research projects.

She also underlined the roughly $7 billion that the administration has poured into historically Black colleges and universities, the largest investment of any White House administration.

Atlanta is set to receive more than $150 million for a project called The Stitch that is meant to revitalize the city’s downtown areas and connect them to its growing midtown neighborhoods. Georgia is one of 40 states that will receive money from a White House program that aims to repair the decades-old societal damage from federal transportation projects that disproportionately displaced Black communities.

Presidential Race

In an interview with Time magazine , Donald Trump said that he planned to use the military to deport migrants if he wins in November and would not dismiss the possibility of political violence after the election.

President Biden quickly moved to capitalize politically on Trump’s interview with Time magazine, particularly his comments on abortion .

For Biden, the campus unrest over the Gaza war recalls the peace protests of his youth. But this time he cannot easily bypass the turmoil .

Awash in Federal Money:  Across Milwaukee, there is evidence of federal money from laws passed under the Biden administration. The president hopes voters will notice .

Disinformation at the Border:  A flier urging migrants to vote for Biden rocketed around right-wing social media. But was it authentic ?

A Match Made in MAGA:  Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio and Donald Trump Jr. have bonded politically and personally . It’s a relationship that could factor into the former president’s search for a running mate.

A 2024 Political Hothouse : In Arizona, a battle over abortion bans and criminal charges against allies of Trump continue to raise the state’s election-year profile .

Charlie Woods’ road to Pinehurst begins Thursday.

Woods, the son of 82-time TOUR winner Tiger Woods, will compete in an 18-hole U.S. Open local qualifier Thursday at The Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The younger Woods is slated to tee off at 8:18 a.m. ET Thursday.

The road to the U.S. Open features 109 local qualifying sites across April and May, leading to 13 Final Qualifying sites in late May and early June. Final Qualifying is known as Golf's Longest Day, requiring competitors to navigate 36 holes to earn a tee time at the season’s third major championship.

To be eligible for qualifying, a player must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 0.4 or be a professional.

The elder Woods is a three-time U.S. Open champion, but he has yet to win at Pinehurst No. 2. Tiger Woods finished T3 at Pinehurst in 1999, two strokes back of winner Payne Stewart, and he placed solo second at the venerable venue in 2005, two back of Michael Campbell. He didn’t compete at Pinehurst in 2014.

Earlier this spring, Charlie Woods competed in a pre-qualifier for the TOUR’s Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, his first foray at attempting to qualify for a TOUR-sanctioned event. The younger Woods shot 86 that day but will look to apply learnings in Thursday’s U.S. Open local qualifier.

Tiger and Charlie Woods have paired together in the last four PNC Championships, the two-player team event contested each December that utilizes a scramble format. Team Woods finished runner-up in 2021 but has yet to win the event.

Other notables in the field at Woods' site include Cameron Kuchar (son of Matt), Sunny Kim, Garrett Willis, Reed Greyserman (brother of Max), Austin Lemieux (son of Mario) and Michael Buttacavoli.

Eilish, who is a proponent of sustainability, has said the upcoming tour will be the most eco-friendly yet. For the forthcoming album, she will release a limit of eight variants of vinyl through her website as well as all major retailers and all produced with “the most sustainable practices available.” The standard black variant is made from 100% recycled black vinyl and the other seven colored vinyl issues will be made from ECO-MIX or BioVinyl.

Per her website , Eilish “is using a range of solutions as she works with her team towards constant improvement. All merchandise clothing uses residual dead stock from prior productions, organic or recycled polyester or cotton, non-toxic dye inputs and intentional design processes for circularity, reduced climate impact and regeneration to reduce harm to people and planet. Posters are made from 100% recycled paper.”

Since 2019, Eilish has partnered with nonprofit Reverb to reduce her tours’ environmental footprint, engage fans in climate action, and support nonprofit organizations and climate projects.

She has also said she would not be releasing any singles in advance of the album, telling Rolling Stone , “Every single time an artist I love puts out a single without the context of the album, I’m just already prone to hating on it. I really don’t like when things are out of context. This album is like a family: I don’t want one little kid to be in the middle of the room alone.” She also previously wrote on Instagram, “not doing singles i wanna give it to you all at once… finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it.”
