TravelTech Show 2023 Takeaways

TravelTech Show 2023 Takeaways

TravelTech 2023 – A Wealth of Knowledge

Automation – easing the admin.

With travel now really back to pre-covid levels, businesses are re-building and those pain points that went to the back of the priority queue have quickly come to the forefront once again. Whether it’s using multiple platforms or staff having an almost unmanageable list of manual tasks, the burden of those everyday tasks is now starting to put a strain on staff time.

Automation and single solution platforms like moonstride are vital to get the best out of your team allowing your staff to concentrate on delighting your customers. With an efficient travel CRM, back office and booking engine your productivity only goes one way – upwards.

Distribution – Product and Content

There are two distinct areas around distribution we heard over and over again – distribution of your products such as hotels or tours and then distribution of your content across multiple channels.

Content management can be tricky when you need to distribute your content to multiple channels. aurastride is a headless CMS platform with effortless content modelling and customisation, seamlessly integrating with moonstride delivering omnichannel excellence. With its API-first approach, aurastride can integrate with third party systems including existing booking platforms allowing you to dynamically deliver tailored content.

Here at moonstride we are working hard on distribution channels with work ongoing with our partners increasing and establishing new distribution lines for your products.

Updating and Refreshing Your Tech Stack

Over time tech stacks that were once cutting edge are starting to go blunt and are in need of an update and a refresh.

To stay competitive and meet the ever-changing demands of travelers, businesses must embrace modern tech stacks that offer flexibility, scalability, and enhanced functionality.

One key aspect of modern tech stacks is cloud computing. By migrating to the cloud, travel businesses can leverage the power of scalable infrastructure, eliminating the need for on-premises servers and hardware. Cloud-based solutions provide the agility to handle fluctuating demand, ensuring optimal performance and seamless user experiences.

Another essential element of modern tech stacks is the adoption of microservices architecture. Breaking down monolithic systems into smaller, decoupled services allows for greater flexibility and agility. Each service can be developed, updated, and scaled independently, empowering businesses to iterate quickly and respond to market changes effectively.

Additionally, embracing APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) enables travel companies to integrate with various third-party systems, expanding their capabilities and offering personalised experiences. API-driven architectures foster seamless connectivity, enabling businesses to leverage the vast ecosystem of travel-related services, such as booking engines, payment gateways, and content aggregators.

To successfully update their tech stacks, travel businesses should prioritise collaboration with experienced technology partners. These partners can provide guidance on selecting the right technologies, designing robust architectures, and implementing efficient migration strategies. By embracing modern tech stacks, the travel industry can unlock new opportunities, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional experiences to travelers.

Travel Intelligence in the form of AI, ML, BI, ChatGPT

The travel industry is dominated with discussion around AI and the TravelTech productions centred in on this topic. At moonstride we believe AI has a major role to play in the future of the travel industry in various forms but also in the present, right here today.

AI doesn’t have to be as scary as some may believe and it is up to leading travel technology providers like moonstride to deliver sensible, accessible, affordable access to AI technology. Many we spoke to were unsure how it could be used, how they could build AI into their current systems and its accessibility.

  • ML (Machine Learning with the ability to interpret data and accurately predict outcomes)
  • BI (Business Intelligence to combine analytics and data to drive smart decisions)
  • Chat GPT (natural language processing tool)
  • AI (Artificial Intelligence – a combination of ML, BI and other forms of machine learning providing the ability to perform cognitive functions)

AI, ML, BI all bring incredible opportunity such as offering aid to gathering and interpreting data driving smart decisions, advancing automation from alerting you when a contract needs renewing, when stock is running low to generating booking tasks and reminders. As a sales aid generating personal recommendations and suggested itineraries to chat bots being able to answer key or frequently asked questions and booking queries.

AI in travel is not here to replace staff, it is an advancement to aid staff…an advancement in booking engine searches, advancement in holiday research tools, an advancement in automation all of which is already embedded in any good modern travel platform like moonstride.

Travel Tech Show 2023: Payments and customer experience among opportunities for businesses

Travel Tech Show 2023: Payments and customer experience among opportunities for businesses

Opportunities include add ons and payment flexibility

A panel at Travel Tech Show last week highlighted the opportunities pertinent to travel business.

ETOA’s director of Insight Rachel Reed led the discussion on where the prospects remain for the rest of the year and how can travel tech help you to capitalise on them.

Reed was joined by Alejandro Gomez Losada Rosso, VP commercial of Holibob, David Scott, chief commercial officer of Open Destinations and Jamie Albert, partnerships coordinator of WeTravel.

Scott, Open Destination’s CEO shared feedback on what their travel customers are worried about which can help identify areas of need.

He said: “Worries about GDPR came up quite a lot and the need to move to SaaS products as well as finding the right staff continues to be a challenge for organisations.

“With GDPR, how do people use customer data, how are they managing it and how are they controlling it. People are just more aware that they own their data.

“Lots of people are talking about this but how do you incorporate AI into your technology in a way that really benefits your customers.

“We’re worrying about data security and I’m sure everyone else is as well. We’re worried about all the ransomware attacks we’re seeing happening everywhere. This is a concern for us.

“We’re also really focused on getting our customers into the cloud, giving them that flexibility they need and for some of those legacy businesses it’s a pretty challenging thing to do.

When talking about tech innovation that enables operators to thrive, he cited growth, expansion, retention, automation and AI, digitisation and cost-based management.

Reed quizzed the panellists on payment trends for businesses in travel, Albert of Wetravel said: “One thing we found in our report was travellers are asking trip organisers if they can pay in more installments than they might have before the pandemic.

“We saw that four installments is actually a very common number. Sometimes even more than that.

“We saw that as an expected trend for 2023 and we’re still seeing that with clients and companies we work with now we’re halfway through.

“We also see with clients that we work with that it’s no longer a nice to have, to offer flexibility based on the country that you’re travelling from.

“If you have travellers coming from other countries, they expect to in a way that’s easy and convenient for them.

Albert added that when it comes to customer experience, user experience is “everything” with trip organisers want to be able to offer add ons which they don’t see the need for going away any time soon.

Holibob said their bread and butter is “trying to put the right product through to the right person at the right time”.

Gomez Losada Rosso advised that while add ons are good for customer experience, they also provide opportunities for business.

He said: “If you think about margins then experiences allow you to have much higher margins than hotels and flights so there is a lot of opportunities to produce sustainable revenue generating models for those products.”

TravelTech Show turns 20

travel tech show 2023

TravelTech Show turns 20 this year and a lot has happened in that time. We caught up with several industry leaders ahead of the show in June and asked them to predict the next big influences on the development of technology in travel in the next 20 years and how can buyers / operators best navigate new technology developments to ensure they are fit for purpose and getting the best ROI?

Nimet Sayeed, Event Manager, TravelTech Show

Looking back over the last 20 years the ‘Technology Hall of Fame’ is certainly diverse and well populated. It might be easy to take for granted the impact these advances have had, from Bluetooth in the early 2000s taking on mass market appeal for computers and mobile phones, to Skype elevating global communication capabilities when it launched in 2003. And who could forget the first touchscreen phone courtesy of Apple and the iPhone in 2007 and the seismic shift brought about by the introduction of social media, perhaps most notably Facebook in 2004, Twitter in 2006 and the relative baby of the social media family, Instagram now just a teenager since its launch in 2010.

Unquestionably, however, they have all laid the foundations for not just the new technology that is emerging now but also for the principles on which that technology is based. More specifically from a travel technology perspective, rapid, real-time communications and frictionless experiences that add value and efficiency and enhance the journey and experience, whether that be for a travel manager and/or traveller.

So where do we go from here? Predictions for what will influence the next 20 years and beyond of travel technology are always exciting and inspiring as the industry continues to innovate and inspire. Here some of the speakers and exhibitors at this year’s TravelTech Show share their thoughts on what will be the biggest influences on the development of technology in travel in the next 20 years and importantly, how operators can best navigate them in an ever-shifting landscape.

Iva Vodopija, Head of Sales & Marketing at LEMAX highlights, “The new generation of travellers is accustomed to the online world. They want to be able to buy travel products and services just as easily as they order Uber services or things from Amazon. They want to have all the relevant information related to their trip in one place, to be able to easily modify the offer and adapt it to their personal preferences, and to have fast and efficient communication with an experienced sales agent. Today’s travellers want a unique and tailor-made offer and to get the best possible value for their money.

“In order to support the demands of this new generation of travellers, travel agencies have to adapt the supply chain process to give out the best possible offer in the shortest time and ensure a unique customer experience throughout the entire customer journey.”

For many, meeting the demands of the next generation of traveller and defining the biggest influences on travel technology in the next 20 years comes in the shape of AI, Web 3.0 and ChatGPT. Indeed, Abby Penston, CEO of the Focus Travel Partnership sees all three as “game changers” which will “change how everyone experiences travel”, so much so that “it will improve the whole traveller booking experience, making it less fragmented and will potentially change the way we work forever.”

A sentiment echoed by Microsoft’s CTO of Aviation, Daniel Williams who says that alongside AI, virtual, augmented reality, blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) also all “have the potential to completely transform the travel industry in significant ways, from enhancing customer experiences to improving efficiency and streamlining operations.”

Managing data remains a core focus for all travel companies and as TripStax CEO Jack Ramsey points out, specifically for business travel data, there is scope for this to be decentralised with Web 3.0 and blockchain gaining prominence. Instead “data can be stored in multiple locations and AI will pull data from sources that are relevant to the user’s request at that moment.” Indeed, Ramsey suggests that “AI and decentralisation will change the whole dynamic of how our industry operates in the not-too-distant future.”

Knowing that these developments lie ahead, or in some cases are present and set to evolve, is one piece of the puzzle. How to navigate so many changes is another. Inspiretec’s Chief Revenue Officer Jon Pickles advises testing as the best way to build trust in ChatGPT in particular, “Come up with some test ideas and run with them to see what it brings. Like all new technologies don't go all in but certainly test the water. Try it inward facing first as you don't know yet what it might tell your customers. We need to build trust in the technology first.”

Focus Travel Partnership’s Abby Penston also outlines the importance of clarity, “It is important to understand what the technology can deliver and have a clear vision of how to utilise this in your business planning and then consider the right delivery mechanism to achieve this vision. With a choice of new and emerging tech such as dynamic data processing, cloud delivered services and AI there is a lot to consider.”

A consideration reiterated by Microsoft’s Daniel Williams who adds, when dealing with any new technologies it is essential to ensure they are fit for purpose and delivering a solid return. To achieve this travel companies “need to stay up to date with the latest technological developments and evaluate how they can be applied to their business. This could involve conducting research, attending industry events and conferences, and consulting with experts in the field.

“Ultimately, the key to successfully navigating new technology developments in travel will be to remain agile and adaptable. As new technologies emerge and evolve, buyers and operators will need to be prepared to pivot and adjust their strategies to ensure they are staying ahead of the curve and delivering value to customers.”

However the road ahead for travel technology is paved in the next 20 years it will undoubtedly present opportunities across the industry.

This year the TravelTech Show celebrates its 20th anniversary. Passes are free for anyone who buys travel technology. To find out more and register to attend please visit: traveltech-show.com

6 Travel Conferences You Must Attend in 2023 – 2024

6 Travel Conferences You Must Attend in 2023 – 2024

After two years of darkened hotel ballrooms and piles of chairs locked up in conference room corners, the lights are finally switching on. The cobwebs have been swept away, experts contacted, and now the digital ads are in full swing. Travel trade shows are back and with them, enormous opportunity.

Travel agent events like conferences connect travel professionals from around the world to share knowledge, meet vendors and create new partnerships. And let’s be honest, it’s about time we abandon our desks and computer screens and see the world.

That said, below are 6 travel agents trade shows and conferences coming up in 2023-2024 to inspire you with exciting new ideas and help you expand your business vision.

1. Adventure Travel World Summit; Hokkaido, Japan

Do you sell adventure? Or are you looking to pivot into that niche?

The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) sponsors a summit every year for tour operators, travel writers, industry partners and tourism boards who are involved in the adventure travel industry. But it’s much more than a conference. Summit participants join offsite trips in addition to hearing from keynote speakers, maximizing endless networking opportunities, sharing industry information and pitching new story ideas during Media Connect sessions.

The ATTA has already reserved Hokkaido, Japan for September 2023. The event will include adventures into the surrounding wilderness, business meetings and networking opportunities, and time for travel leaders to connect.

2. FITUR 2024; Madrid, Spain

FITUR is an International Tourism Trade Fair organized by IFEMA MADRID. In January 2022, Fitur hosted 600 exhibitors from 107 countries and welcomed over 100,000 visitors. Fitur serves as a meeting place for tourism professionals from around the world. It’s also the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound markets in Latin America.

Fitur targets both mass tourism and niche markets, showcasing new sectors each year as the tourism industry becomes more diverse. It also presents cutting edge technology including artificial intelligence, smart tourist destinations and big data.

Fitur will hold its 44th tourism trade show from January 24th – 28th, 2024. Targeting hotel chains, agencies, tour operators, technological companies, suppliers, transportation and institutions from around the world, Fitur 2024 will focus on how to strengthen post pandemic tourism and how to generate new business opportunities.

3. ITB 2024; Berlin, Germany

ITB takes place at the Berlin ExpoCenter City exhibition center. With more than 10,000 exhibitors, ITB is the largest convention in the travel industry. The convention presents informational stands on countries, destinations, hotels and tourism associations as well as on specialist suppliers, booking systems and transport operators. ITB is a platform for B2B travel industry leaders to meet and network.

ITB’s event will take place in Berlin from March 5th – 7th, 2024. The guest country of ITB 2023 will be Georgia.

4. IPW; San Antonio, Texas

How about a trip to the USA?

US travel exhibitors convene once a year in San Antonio, Texas for the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW international inbound travel trade show. At IPW, US travel exhibitors connect with travel buyers and media from more than 70 countries to share their products and build new business relationships. IPW showcases the American travel industry to its international visitors to promote and increase tourism in the USA.

The U.S. Travel Association’s IPW is the leading international inbound travel trade show. The next convention will take place from May 20th-24th, 2023.

5. ETOA’s Global European Marketplace (GEM); London, UK

For ETOA members only, GEM is ETOA’s annual travel trade event. Not just another tour operators’ event, here tourism suppliers meet new leads and reconnect with existing business contacts. With preset appointments based on business profile and goals, buyers and suppliers meet one-on-one throughout the event.

Participants also attend educational and networking sessions. Close to 400 global and intra-European buyers are invited to GEM’s upcoming event, which will take place from November 2nd – 3rd, 2023 in London, UK.

6. Travel Expo-Travel and Adventure Show

Looking for an excuse to visit a metropolitan center in the USA?

The Travel and Adventure Show is a traveling expo, which will meet in 9 different cities across the USA in 2023 including Chicago, Boston, NY, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Atlanta and Dallas.

For tour operators, travel agents and tourists alike, the Travel and Adventure Show gives travel companies the opportunity to maximize their marketing and sales by presenting to prescreened audiences. Buyers can obtain the most up-to-date travel and itinerary options, safety protocols directly from the source.

In addition, visitors can attend one or more of the dozens of educational and informational travel workshops that take place throughout the day.

Travel trade shows: are they worth attending?

The last two years wreaked havoc on the travel industry. According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), global tourism experienced its worst year on record in 2020. Destinations worldwide suffered a decrease by one billion in international arrivals as compared to the previous year due to the massive drop in demand and the serious travel restrictions.

But with travel restrictions lifting, the travel industry is returning in full force. According to a recent Pulse survey , 73% of business travelers agree that a general increase in business travel is extremely likely and 62% anticipate an increase in their own business travel compared to 2021.

With demand on the rise, it behooves any travel professional to continue networking, building strategic relationships and marketing their products in person at travel trade shows. If the expense was worth it to you in the past, then now, in the current travel industry, the ROI should prove to be even greater.

5 Travel Tech Trends Worth Watching in 2023

Justin Dawes

Justin Dawes , Skift

January 5th, 2023 at 2:30 AM EST

Travel technology has been turned on its head over the past couple of years. Just about every major trend listed was caused, directly or indirectly, by issues related to the pandemic.

Justin Dawes

Series: Travel Tech Briefing

Travel Tech Briefing

Editor’s Note:  Exclusive reporting on technology’s impact on the travel industry, delivered every Thursday. The briefing will guide executives as they decide if their companies should “build, buy, or partner” to stay ahead.

Much of the travel industry is continuing to recover after the pandemic and despite growing anxieties about the economy, with some metrics better than ever last year.

As the industry continues to evolve technologically, there are several areas worth watching in the next year. Below are five highlights to keep an eye on:

Airport Biometrics

In an effort to streamline the customer travel experience, airlines and airports are looking to implement biometrics capabilities into everyday use. Biometrics enables the personalization of technology using an individual’s biological readings, like using a fingerprint as an unlock passcode or facial recognition to confirm identity.

Though there is criticism about privacy and data security issues, United Airlines and Delta Airlines — along with car rental company Avis — are among those experimenting now with facial, iris and fingerprint  biometrics. Registered passengers can move faster through security checkpoints by verifying their identification using a kiosk provided by Clear, a biometrics company that went public in June 2021.

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is also piloting tech that matches live facial visuals with recording identification photos. The organization is reportedly testing the program at 16 airports nationwide, and that could expand this year.

Travel Tech Boom in Southeast Asia

Iterative Capital just raised $55 million in its second fund focusing on general tech Southeast Asia. One of its portfolio companies is GoZayaan , an online travel agency focused in that region.

Southeast Asia is two or three decades behind the Western world when it comes to general and travel tech investment, but it is catching up rapidly.

“It’s just taking off. It’s kind of like Silicon Valley 20 years ago,” said Brian Ma , founder and managing partner of Singapore-based Iterative Capital.

“The middle class is growing at a rate much faster than the U.S., and so more regular people have more money to spend. They’re starting to think about savings, health care, education, travel, all this kind of stuff.”

Because the region is so far behind, it has a unique set of travel issues for which it largely needs its own solutions, which is why there’s a budding group of travel tech startups.

The Korea Tourism Startup Center last fall set up an accelerator in Singapore focused on travel tech startups, launching with 13 companies that pitched products in an effort to expand throughout Southeast Asia.

Airline Technology Investment

Following the system failure that Southwest Airlines experienced during the last week of December, the company has already said it finally plans to modernize operations. It took a disaster for Southwest, but that example may be the push that other airlines need to modernize and avoid a similar situation.

Skift has already been getting press messages from tech companies looking to share opinions about what happened, no doubt looking to take advantage of what could be a sales opportunity. Whether it’s about scheduling optimization — the core of the expensive Southwest issue — or something else, industry executives in the New Year may be more open to what innovators have to offer.

One statement came from Sourabh Gupta, CEO and co-founder of Skit.ai, a startup that raised $23 million for a product that’s meant to streamline call center operations with a voice bot that uses artificial intelligence to replicate human-like conversations.

“By combining voice AI technology and human agents for a significant competitive leg-up, failures like what we saw happen this past holiday weekend are less likely to happen. Digital innovation is meant to stay, and it pervades every aspect of the airline industry including customer service.”

Continued Hotel Tech Adoption

Hotels have been slow to adopt new technology, but it has been increasing post-pandemic. One of the primary reasons is because of a serious labor shortage in the hospitality industry.

Lower budget hotels are adding features like contactless check-in and housekeeping to eliminate a need for as many workers, while luxury hotels are looking at their own type of tech adoption.

But, many hotels have a long way to go to reach the personalized, up-to-date experience that customers are looking for. Most hotels don’t offer features like mobile check-in, choosing their room location, or even television streaming services.

Short-Term Rental Platform Growth

There were dozens of fundraises totaling billions of dollars last year for a variety of platforms dedicated to short-term rentals and software to help property managers organize their business.

These platforms are not just focused on vacations, but also niche areas like business travelers and remote workers.

Some of the consumer demand for vacation rentals is slowing , but the industry is generally expected to continue growing in the near future.

Some venture-backed platforms, like Le Collectionist , are also focused on acquiring travel agencies and other smaller companies in an effort to consolidate the fragmented industry.

Global travel industry reaches USD 1.5 trillion in 2023: Phocuswright

Ahead of its annual global conference, phocuswright reveals shifting dynamics within travel’s top 15 markets.

' src=

The global travel industry is experiencing a powerful resurgence, with Phocuswright’s latest Global Travel Market Report 2024 revealing a 24% surge in 2023, reaching an impressive $1.5 trillion in gross bookings.   While established powerhouses like North America, APAC, and Western Europe continue to lead, the report uncovers a dynamic landscape marked by shifting rankings within the top 15 markets, the emergence of new players, and a notable rebound in China.

The US retains its position as the world’s largest travel market, commanding $476 billion in bookings, more than three times the size of China, which holds the second spot.  China’s travel market, however, demonstrated significant resilience, rebounding with a 72% growth in 2023.  The report also spotlights Brazil’s entry into the top 15 markets, displacing Scandinavia.  Further context on these findings will be covered at The Phocuswright Conference, which takes place from November 19-21 in Phoenix, Arizona.

“The travel industry’s current trajectory is not simply a recovery; it’s a testament to the industry’s adaptability and the enduring human desire to explore,” said Eugene Ko, Director of Marketing and Communications at Phocuswright.  “The impressive growth in emerging markets like Brazil and the resurgence of China signal a shift in the global travel landscape.  The industry is evolving, and those who embrace these new dynamics will thrive in the years to come.”

The report also delves into the complexities of individual markets within the top 15.  The UAE, occupying seventh position, accounts for over half of the Middle East’s travel market.  Russia’s growth has been tempered by geopolitical challenges, leading to a drop in its ranking.  Meanwhile, the euro’s gain against the US dollar fueled significant growth in several European markets.  Spain led with a 40% surge, followed by double-digit gains in Italy, Germany, the UK and France.

Key takeaways:

  • Global travel market reached $1.5 trillion in 2023, a 24% increase
  • North America, APAC, and Western Europe continue to lead
  • The U.S. remains the largest market, with China showing significant growth
  • Brazil enters the top 15 markets, displacing Scandinavia
  • The euro’s strength boosted growth in several European markets, including Spain, Italy, Germany, the UK and France
  • The industry is evolving, with shifting dynamics and new opportunities within the top 15 markets

These findings and more will take center stage at The Phocuswright Conference.  Themed “The New Age(nts),” the conference will feature insightful keynotes, interactive panel discussions, and in-depth breakout sessions exploring the evolving roles and relationships within the travel ecosystem. With an expected attendance of over 1,300 senior-level executives, innovators, and thought leaders, this event provides an unparalleled opportunity to gain crucial insights for navigating the industry’s transformation.

Oasis tickets: Maximise your chances and avoid these mistakes - and how much they cost

Noel and Liam Gallagher have put a 15-year feud behind them to get the band back together. "Come see. It will not be televised," they warned in their announcement. So how can you get tickets?

Oasis are finally reuniting 15 years after they split, having announced a huge UK tour.

The iconic Manchester band's official social media accounts shared the dates of its 14 UK and Ireland shows, which will take place over July and August next year.

Speculation about a reunion grew in the weeks leading up to the announcement after years of Noel and Liam Gallagher's public feuding had made fans question whether it would ever happen.

"Come see. It will not be televised," they warned in their statement .

But when exactly are the dates for the brothers' on-stage reunion and how can you get tickets? Here's everything you need to know.

When and where are the concerts?

• 4 July 2025 - Principality Stadium, Cardiff • 5 July 2025 - Principality Stadium, Cardiff • 11 July 2025 - Heaton Park, Manchester • 12 July 2025 - Heaton Park, Manchester • 16 July 2025 - Heaton Park, Manchester • 19 July 2025 - Heaton Park, Manchester • 20 July 2025 - Heaton Park, Manchester • 25 July 2025 - Wembley Stadium, London • 26 July 2025 - Wembley Stadium, London • 30 July 2025 - Wembley Stadium, London • 2 August 2025 - Wembley Stadium, London • 3 August 2025 - Wembley Stadium, London • 8 August 2025 - Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh • 9 August 2025 - Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh • 12 August 2025 - Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh • 16 August 2025 - Croke Park, Dublin • 17 August 2025 - Croke Park, Dublin

How expensive are tickets?

A seat to watch the band in London begins at £74.25, with the most expensive ticket a £506.25 pre-show party, exhibition and seated package.

Standing tickets will cost fans £151.25.

Heaton Park, Manchester

In the band's home city, tickets start from £148.50, with only standing available alongside a number of hospitality and luxury packages.

Principality Stadium, Cardiff

The cheapest seats are £73, according to promoter SJM Concerts, which runs the website Gigs And Tours. Standing tickets will cost £150.

Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh

Tickets for the gig at the 67,000-capacity stadium start at £74, SJM Concerts say, adding standing tickets will cost £151.

Croke Park, Dublin

Before the announcement for UK shows, Irish promoters MCD said on its website that the price of both of the two Croke Park gigs in Dublin will start at 86.50 euros (£72.75) without booking fees.

When do tickets go on sale and how can I get them?

All tickets will go on sale on Saturday 31 August. The Dublin dates will be on sale from 8am and the UK dates will go on sale at 9am .

🚨REGISTER FOR THE UK & IRELAND 2025 TOUR PRE-SALE BALLOT🚨 A ticket pre-sale will be held on Friday 30th August, ahead of Saturday’s general sale. To ensure the maximum number of fans have a fair opportunity to access tickets, applicants will be selected for the pre-sale via a… pic.twitter.com/spP24NemBV — Oasis (@oasis) August 27, 2024

But fans can now register to be in a pre-sale ballot until 10am (UK time) on Friday morning.

The deadline was originally 7pm on Wednesday but the band changed it due to "a last minute surge" in entries.

Successful applicants in the ballot will be informed by 5pm on Friday via email with full access information, however, this does not guarantee fans a ticket as they are still sold on a first come first served basis.

The band has warned fans on social media that confirmation emails for the ballot entry may be delayed due to a high volume of people signing up, but has assured them that anyone who has filled in a ballot correctly before the deadline will receive one.

Tickets for UK performances can be bought from the following sites:

• ticketmaster.co.uk • gigsandtours.com • www.seetickets.com

For the Ireland dates you need to go to ticketmaster.ie .

Be warned: you must register

The band's official website has "strongly advised" anyone hoping to purchase tickets to register in advance of the sale with the relevant ticket agencies.

Top tips for getting tickets

The ticket sites offer key advice for fans looking to have an edge over others in the race for in-demand tickets.

Here's a summary of their biggest tips:

• Don't wait until Saturday morning to register. This will mean you have plenty of time to get your account set up with all the right billing and delivery information • Verify your account. You have to add your phone number and confirm a one-time passcode with new accounts for protection. You only need to do it once • If you already have an account, double-check it. It's worth logging in before Saturday just to check you know your password, your delivery and billing information is all correct, and to ensure you've already completed your one-time passcode • Make sure your card details are already saved to avoid last-minute scrambling • Get your phones and laptops charged before the deadline • Make sure you're happy with your internet connection. Private WiFi is best, and if that isn't working, Ticketmaster advises using your mobile data over public WiFi, which it says is "usually the least reliable" • Don't refresh the page while in a waiting room. Ticketing sites use a queuing system when they get busy, meaning you get put in an online waiting room with other fans. They warn that refreshing the page won't move you further up the line, and that the page itself updates automatically. So once you're in, wait it out...

How many tickets can I buy and how expensive could they be?

You can get a maximum of four tickets per transaction, and you aren't permitted to sell them for more than you bought them for, according to event organisers.

The price of tickets hasn't been announced yet, though the Manchester Evening News has reported they are expected to exceed £100.

Back in 2009, just over a month before Oasis split, the band performed at Wembley Stadium and charged £38.50 plus VAT (which at the time was 15%), meaning the total cost was just over £44.

When Sky News put those numbers into the Bank of England's inflation calculator, the total was £68.02 - which is still considered low nowadays.

Will there be another chance to buy tickets?

There won't be another official sale, but you may be able to snatch resale tickets.

On its website, Oasis says it has partnered with Ticketmaster and ticket resale platform Twickets to ensure tickets aren't resold for more than the price originally paid - including booking fees.

The band has also warned those reselling the tickets that selling through any other platforms will breach the terms and conditions of the sale and may result in the tickets being cancelled.

Do you even deserve tickets?

Since the announcement, social media has been flooded by debate about who this concert is really for.

"What's your favourite B-side?" - an eligibility test being used by people who "were at Knebworth".

Die-hard Oasis fans who were there in the 90s will say they are the ones who most deserve to get their hands on tickets.

"Imagine waiting 15 years for Oasis to reform only to lose out on tickets to Chloe, 21 from Stockport who just wants to hear Wonderwall live", one X user posts.

In response, another writes: "Obsessed with all the men creating fictional young women who they might lose out on Oasis tickets to."

Analysis by Gemma Peplow , culture and entertainment reporter

"Like most kids, my parents influenced my music taste growing up, from Bruce Springsteen and Tina Turner to the Rolling Stones.

"Kylie Minogue, obviously, was also a big feature in my cassette collection.

"But Oasis were the first band that felt like mine, not music I'd inherited.

"As a teenager I listened over and over, studied the album covers, and went on to see them live five times, each gig holding different memories and anecdotes. For those of us who grew up with them, they embodied our youth, the spirit of the '90s.

"But that doesn't mean these gigs belong to the older fans, which, like it or not, is the bracket I fall into now. You only have to see all the teenagers and younger adults at Liam's solo shows to see how Oasis's songs resonate with different generations. The music has stood the test of time, which can only be a good thing.

"Those gatekeeping fans are most likely the same as those complaining about how all music is rubbish these days. Well, you can't have it both ways.

"If I'm lucky enough to get tickets, I hope to be singing along with bucket-hat wearing fans of all ages."

This image features the Cassiopeia A supernova, an expanding ball of matter and energy ejected from an exploding star. Here, rings of neon blue and brilliant white emit veins of polished gold. The rings and their arching veins encircle a place of relative calm at the center of the supernova remnant. This hole at the center of the circle, and the three-dimensionality conveyed by the rings and their arching veins, give this image of Cassiopeia A the look of a giant, crackling, electric blue donut. X-rays detected by Chandra show debris from the destroyed star and the blast wave from the explosion.

Where Kamala Harris Stands on the Issues: Abortion, Immigration and More

She wants to protect the right to abortion nationally. Here’s what else to know about her positions.

With Vice President Kamala Harris having replaced President Biden on the Democratic ticket, her stances on key issues will be scrutinized by both parties and the nation’s voters.

She has a long record in politics: as district attorney of San Francisco, as attorney general of California, as a senator, as a presidential candidate and as vice president.

Here is an overview of where she stands.

Ms. Harris supports legislation that would protect the right to abortion nationally, as Roe v. Wade did before it was overturned in 2022, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

After the Dobbs ruling, she became central to the Biden campaign’s efforts to keep the spotlight on abortion, given that Mr. Biden — with his personal discomfort with abortion and his support for restrictions earlier in his career — was a flawed messenger. In March, she made what was believed to be the first official visit to an abortion clinic by a president or vice president.

She consistently supported abortion rights during her time in the Senate, including cosponsoring legislation that would have banned common state-level restrictions, like requiring doctors to perform specific tests or have hospital admitting privileges in order to provide abortions.

As a presidential candidate in 2019, she argued that states with a history of restricting abortion rights in violation of Roe should be subject to what is known as pre-clearance for new abortion laws — those laws would have to be federally approved before they could take effect. That proposal is not viable now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe.

Climate change

Ms. Harris has supported the Biden administration’s climate efforts , including legislation that provided hundreds of billions of dollars in tax credits and rebates for renewable energy and electric vehicles.

“It is clear the clock is not just ticking, it is banging,” she said in a speech last year , referring to increasingly severe and frequent disasters spurred by climate change. “And that is why, one year ago, President Biden and I made the largest climate investment in America’s history.”

During her 2020 presidential campaign, she emphasized the need for environmental justice , a framework that calls for policies to address the adverse effects that climate change has on poor communities and people of color. She has emphasized that as vice president as well.

In 2019, Ms. Harris, then a senator, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrat of New York, introduced legislation that would have evaluated environmental rules and laws by how they affected low-income communities. It would have also established an independent Office of Climate and Environmental Justice Accountability and created a “senior adviser on climate justice” within several federal agencies. In 2020, Ms. Harris introduced a more sweeping version of the bill. None of the legislation was passed.

Ms. Harris was tasked with leading the Biden administration’s efforts to secure voting rights legislation, a job she asked for . The legislation — which went through several iterations but was ultimately blocked in the Senate — would have countered voting restrictions in Republican-led states, limited gerrymandering and regulated campaign finance more strictly.

This year, she met with voting rights advocates and described a strategy that included creating a task force on threats to election workers and challenging state voting restrictions in court.

She has condemned former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. In a speech in 2022 marking the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, she said that day had showed “what our nation would look like if the forces who seek to dismantle our democracy are successful.” She added, “What was at stake then, and now, is the right to have our future decided the way the Constitution prescribes it: by we the people, all the people.”

Economic policy

In campaign events this year, Ms. Harris has promoted the Biden administration’s economic policies, including the infrastructure bill that Mr. Biden signed, funding for small businesses, a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act that capped the cost of insulin for people on Medicare and student debt forgiveness.

She indicated at an event in May that the administration’s policies to combat climate change would also bring economic benefits by creating jobs in the renewable energy industry. At another event , she promoted more than $100 million in Energy Department grants for auto parts manufacturers to pivot to electric vehicles, which she said would “help to keep our auto supply chains here in America.”

As a senator, she introduced legislation that would have provided a tax credit of up to $6,000 for middle- and low-income families, a proposal she emphasized during her presidential campaign as a way to address income inequality.

Immigration

One of Ms. Harris’s mandates as vice president has been to address the root causes of migration from Latin America, like poverty and violence in migrants’ home countries. Last year, she announced $950 million in pledges from private companies to support Central American communities. Similar commitments made previously totaled about $3 billion.

In 2021, she visited the U.S.-Mexico border and said : “This issue cannot be reduced to a political issue. We’re talking about children, we’re talking about families, we are talking about suffering.”

More recently, she backed a bipartisan border security deal that Mr. Biden endorsed but Mr. Trump, by urging Republican lawmakers to kill it , effectively torpedoed. The legislation would have closed the border if crossings reached a set threshold, and it would have funded thousands of new border security agents and asylum officers. “We are very clear, and I think most Americans are clear, that we have a broken immigration system and we need to fix it,” Ms. Harris said in March .

Israel and Gaza

Ms. Harris called in March for an “immediate cease-fire” in Gaza and described the situation there as a “humanitarian catastrophe.” She said that “the threat Hamas poses to the people of Israel must be eliminated” but also that “too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.”

In an interview later that month , she emphasized her opposition to an Israeli invasion of Rafah, the city in southern Gaza to which more than a million people had fled. “I have studied the maps,” she said. “There’s nowhere for those folks to go, and we’re looking at about 1.5 million people in Rafah who are there because they were told to go there, most of them.”

She has said on multiple occasions that she supports a two-state solution.

Racial justice

Racial justice was a theme of Ms. Harris’s presidential campaign. In a memorable debate exchange in 2019 , she denounced Mr. Biden’s past work with segregationist senators and opposition to school busing mandates.

She has called for ending mandatory minimum sentences, cash bail and the death penalty, which disproportionately affect people of color.

Amid the protests that followed the police killing of George Floyd in 2020, she was one of the senators who introduced the Justice in Policing Act, which would have made it easier to prosecute police officers, created a national registry of police misconduct and required officers to complete training on racial profiling. It was not passed.

Her record as a prosecutor also came into play during her presidential campaign. Critics noted that as attorney general of California, she had generally avoided stepping in to investigate police killings.
